THE WINDSHIELD ON THIS VEHICLE HAS CRACKED 3 TIMES IN 9 MONTHS. ANY TIME ANY SORT OF SMALL PEBBLE HITS THE WINDSHIELD, IT CRACKS. MOST RECENT SMALL CRACK SPREAD FOR ABOUT 12 INCHES ALMOST INSTANTLY. NEVER HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN IN A VEHICLE BEFORE.
DROVE ON THE HIGHWAY AND NOTICED A CRACK FORMED ON THE WINDSHIELD. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED. LAST YEAR THE SAME THING HAPPENED ON I-45, DEALER TRIED TO FIX IT AND ENDED UP MAKING IT WORSE SO THEY OFFERED A FREE REPLACEMENT.
IN APRIL 2019 LESS THAN 6 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING MY 2019 SUBARU FORESTER I GOT A ROCK CHIP ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK ON A 45 MPH ROAD. THE AUTO GLASS REPAIR SHOP WAS ALREADY CLOSED SO I PLANNED TO GO THE NEXT DAY FOR REPAIR. I CAME OUT THE NEXT MORNING TO MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED HALFWAY ACROSS BEYOND REPAIR EVEN THOUGH IT WAS IN THE GARAGE OVERNIGHT. I'VE NEVER HAD A CHIP BECOME A CRACK WITHIN A DAY AND NEVER HAD ONE HALFWAY ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. I GOT THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED BUT WITHIN A FEW MONTHS I GOT A STARBURST CRACK FROM A ROCK ON THE FREEWAY AND WAS ABLE TO GO STRAIGHT TO THE GLASS REPAIR SHOP WITHIN THE HOUR. THE FIX ONLY DELAYED THE INEVITABLE AND WHILE MY CAR WAS PARKED AT WORK ONE DAY THE WINDSHIELD SPLIT ACROSS WITHOUT WARNING OR ANY PROGRESSION. MY SECOND NEW WINDSHIELD WAS INSTALLED LAST WEEK AND THIS MORNING I GOT A VERY SMALL ROCK CHIP ON A 30 MPH ROAD. BY THE TIME I DROVE LESS THAN 10 MINUTES HOME AND UNLOADED THE GROCERIES IT HAD STARTED TO CRACK. I WAS AT THE GLASS REPAIR SHOP WITHIN 2 HOURS RIGHT WHEN THEY OPENED TO HAVE THE CRACK REPAIRED BEFORE IT COULD SPLIT FURTHER. I FEAR WITH A REPAIR IT IS JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THIS ONE CRACKS TOO. IF SO, THAT WILL BE THREE NEW WINDSHIELDS IN LESS THAN 18 MONTHS WITH LESS THAN 22,000 MILES DRIVEN. NEITHER I OR MY INSURANCE SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR SUCH A WEAK PRODUCT THAT DOES NOT MEET EXPECTATIONS AND FAILS TO MEET EVEN BASIC STANDARDS OF RESILIENCY AND QUALITY. THE INCONVENIENCE OF LITERALLY HAVING TO DROP EVERYTHING TO GET AN IMMEDIATE REPAIR ON ANY CHIP BECAUSE YOU KNOW IT WILL NOT EVEN LAST A FEW HOURS WITHOUT SPREADING. I'VE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE A WINDSHIELD IN MY LIFE ON THESE VERY SAME ROADS. THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THIS PRODUCT OR IT'S A WAY TO EARN MORE MONEY ON OEM REPLACEMENTS SINCE WE HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE WITH THE EYESIGHT CAMERAS.
FRONT WINDSHIELD CRACKED
I DROVE TO WORK IN THE MORNING AND PARKED IN THE PARKING GARAGE. WINDSHIELD WAS TOTALLY FINE. WHEN I WALKED BACK IN THE EVENING, I SAW IMMEDIATELY THERE WAS A HUGE CRACK IN THE BOTTOM HALF OF THE WINDSHIELD WITH NO OTHER APPARENT DAMAGE. MY CAR WAS STATIONARY THE ENTIRE TIME AND IT'S CLEAR THERE WAS NO EXTERNAL EVENT THAT CAUSED THE CRACK.
MY WINDSHIELD HAS DEVELOPED A CRACK THAT IS 18" LONG. IT APPEARED OUT OF NOWHERE . I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT MANY OTHER SUBARU OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN THE DRIVEWAY WHEN IT HAPPENED. DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR DRIVERS.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED FROM AN UNKNOWN REASON. NOTHING WAS HEARD OR SEEN TO HIT THE WINDSHIELD. WINDOW CRACKED ALMOST THREE FEET ACROSS
The contact owns a 2019 Subaru Forester. The contact stated that the battery had drained while parked overnight on several occasion. The contact had experienced the failure approximately seven times. The battery would be jumpstarted and the vehicle would operate as needed. The low battery warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who was unable to identify the cause of the failure. The vehicle had not been diagnosed. The dealer replaced the battery on one occasion however, the failure persisted. The contact became aware online that there was an electrical issue with the vehicle that prevented certain electrical functions from going into sleep mode once the vehicle was turned off, causing the battery to become drained. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 600.
MY 2019 SUBARU FORESTER DEVELOPED MULTIPLE CHIPS ON WINDSHIELD IN JUST 7 MONTHS (4500 MILES). DEALER TOLD ME THAT IT WAS DUE TO BAD ROADS/SALT ON THE ROAD. BUT I AM DRIVING MY OTHER VEHICLE (TOYOTA) ON THE SAME ROADS FOR PAST 5 YEARS, AND NOT A SINGLE CHIP/CRACK ON IT! THE PROBLEM IS DEFINITELY POOR QUALITY OF WINDSHIELD ON 2019 SUBARU FORESTER.
DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY I NOTICED A SMALL PEBBLE, NO BIGGER THAN THE VERY TIP OF MY PINKY FINGER COMING TOWARDS MY DRIVERS SIDE WINDSHIELD. IT HIT THE UPPER PART OF MY DRIVER-SIDE WINDSHIELD. UPON IMPACT THERE WAS NO NOTICEABLE DAMAGE. LESS THAN A MILE DOWN THE ROAD A VERY VISIBLE GROWING CRACK WAS OCCURRING RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. NATURALLY, I HAVE HAD CAR WINDOWS CRACK IN THE PAST, THERE WAS SOMETHING STRANGELY BIZARRE AND DANGEROUS ABOUT THIS CRACK. UPON ARRIVING 2 HOURS LATER AT MY DESTINATION I WAS GREETED BY MY FATHER WHOM I REITERATED THE ACCOUNT TOO. HE SEEMED ASTONISHED BY THE SIZE AND DEPTH OF THE CRACK THROUGH THE GLASS. *TR
INFORTAINMENT TOUCH SCREEN BECOME UNRESPONSIVE TIME TO TIME, CAUSING UNNECESSARY DISTRACTION TO OPERATE RADIO, NAVIGATION.
BASE MODEL SUBARU FORESTER 2019, DRIVER EXPERIENCED UNINTENDED ACCELERATION WHEN STARTING TO DRIVE FOLLOWING A GREEN LIGHT IN AN INTERCEPTION. DRIVER HAD TO USE AN EVASIVE MANEUVER (VEER TO THE LEFT) TO AVOID HITTING A VEHICLE IN THE FRONT OF IT. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT DRIVER ENGAGING THE GAS PADDLE. VEHICLE CONTINUED TO UNINTENTIONALLY ACCELERATE, AND DRIVER HAD TO USE THE BREAK PADDLE TO CONTROL THE SPEED. THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION LASTED FOR ABOUT 20 SECONDS. AFTER BREAKING TO A ZERO SPEED AT A RED LIGHT THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION RETURNED FOR ABOUT TWO MINUTES ESPECIALLY FOLLOWING BREAKING. UNINTENDED/SUDDEN ACCELERATION STARTED AFTER 5 MINUTES OF DRIVING AT 7:15AM, OUTSIDE TEMP OF 36F, HVAC ON, WHILE DRIVING A FLAT ROAD. TOTAL TRIP TIME: ABOUT 15 MINUTES. ABOUT SIX MONTHS PRIOR TO THIS UNINTENDED ACCELERATION EVENT, THE SAME DRIVER EXPERIENCED THE SAME SITUATION WITH THAT SAME VEHICLE. THE DRIVER BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP THE SAME DAY AND REPORTED TO SUBARU ABOUT THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. THE SERVICE TEAM AT THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED THE VEHICLE OWNER THAT THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE REPLICATED AND THUS THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. THERE SHOULD BE A LOG ENTRY IN SUBARU DATABASE ABOUT THIS SERVICE VISIT.
MY CAR WINDSHIELD HAS A CRACK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE NEAR THE WIPERS. IT WAS STATIONARY AND THEN I NOTICED A CRACK ONE MORNING. I USUALLY PARK MY CAR IN MY GARAGE.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED
MY 2019 SUBARU FORESTER EXPERIENCED A TINY ROCK CHIP ON THE LOWER PASSENGER SIDE OF WINDSHIELD FROM DEBRIS THAT WAS INITIALLY HARDILY NOTICEABLE UNTIL I REACHED HIGHWAY SPEED AND THE WINDSHIELD CHIP BEGAN TO GROW AND CRACK TO OVER 12" ACROSS THE LOWER LEFT PORTION OF THE WINDSHIELD.
SAT FEB 22 FORESTER DRIVEN TO GYM AND RETURNED HOME AT 2:20PM. PARKED IN ASSIGNED SPOT #32 IN UNDERGROUND SECURED PARKING. THERE WAS NOT A CRACK, DIVOT OROR ANY OTHER PROBLEM WITH THE WINDSHIELD. THE FORESTER REMAINED LOCKED AND PARKED UNTIL MON FEB 24, 2020 AT 6:30AM. IT WAS THEN I NOTICED A CRACK NEAR THE CENTER, BOTTOM. IT IS SHAPED LIKE A "7" AND IS ABOUT 10" LONG FROM END TO END. THERE IS NO OBJECT, MARK, DUST OR DEBRIS TO INDICATE ANYTHING HIT THE WINDSHIELD. SEE PHOTOS
TPMS TIRE PRESSURES DO NOT APPEAR ON INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE PRESSURES ARE IN THE COMPUTER, BUT NEVER APPEAR ON THE SCREEN. THE DRIVER DOES NOT KNOW WHETHER TPMS INDICATES A FUEL ECONOMY ISSUE, OR AN EMERGENCY. THE "LOW TIRE PRESSURE" DISPLAY SHOWS A LARGE BOX ON THE DISPLAY. THAT SHOULD HAVE A NUMBER AT EACH CORNER INDICATING THE TIRE PRESSURE, IN GREEN FOR OK, YELLOW FOR SLIGHTLY LOW, AND RED FOR EMERGENCY. THIS WOULD HELP THE DRIVER EVALUATE A TIRE PROBLEM AND DECIDE HOW TO DEAL WITH IT SAFELY. TPMS HAS LIT UP WHEN I'M IN THE LEFT LANE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. DO I HAVE TO GET TO THE SHOULDER ASAP, OR CAN I FILL THE TIRES WHEN I GET HOME? WITH THE CURRENT SYSTEM, I DON'T KNOW. THIS COULD BE FIXED WITH A SOFTWARE UPDATE, NO HARDWARE CHANGES NEEDED.
WE HAVE A 2019 SUBARU FORESTER, PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN WITH THE EYESIGHT SLAMMING ON THE BRAKES FOR NO REASON, AND TURNING ON AND OFF AT RANDOM TIMES. THE MAJOR ISSUE HAS BEEN THE SLAMMED ON BRAKES WHEN THE ROAD AHEAD WAS CLEAR, JARRING ME AND PASSENGERS, MY WIFE LITERALLY HAD WHIPLASH AND A HEADACHE FROM THE EXTREME, UNEXPECTED BRAKING. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHEN A VEHICLE IN FROM OF US MADE A RIGHT TURN, ROAD AHEAD IS CLEAR, TRAVELING THE SPEED LIMIT OF 35 MPH, SENSORS MUST BE PICKING UP THE CORNER OF THE OTHER VEHICLE AS WE APPROACH, LOCKING UP THE BRAKES, THINKING IT IS STILL IN FRONT OF US. ANOTHER INCIDENT, EYESIGHT SENSING AN EMPTY PAPER BAG BEING BLOWN ACROSS THE HIGHWAY, SLAMMING ON THE BRAKES, THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A REAR END COLLISION FROM A DRIVER BEHIND US IF THEY WERE FOLLOWING TO CLOSE, LIKE IS THE NORM IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. ANOTHER EVENT, A DOG RAN ACROSS THE FREEWAY, EYESIGHT NEVER ACTIVATED, I THOUGHT I HAD BRAKED AND CLEARED THE DOG, HE KEPT RUNNING, NO IMPACT, FOUND DAMAGE TO FRONT END UPON INSPECTION. ANOTHER ISSUE UNRELATED TO EYESIGHT, THE DEFROSTER BLOWER MOTOR DOES NOT RESPOND TO HIGH SETTING WHEN FIRST TURNED TO HIGH TO CLEAR WINDOW FOG, IT TAKES 3 TO 5 MINUTES BEFORE IT RAMPS UP TO HIGH SPEED. I HAVE BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF OUR SALESPERSON AND SERVICE DEPARTMENT OUR SUBARU DEALERSHIP, MAYBE BE A CALIBRATION ISSUE, PROGRAM ISSUE WITH THE EYESIGHT SENSORS, THEY REFUSED TO DOCUMENT ANYTHING I SHARED AND TOLD ME THEIR IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH THE SYSTEM WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING AT IT. THERE IS NO MORE LOVE IN OUR SUBARU, AND NO CONCERN FOR SAFETY AT THE DEALERSHIP. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH OTHER 2019 SUBARU FORESTER OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME EYESIGHT ISSUES. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE WE LEASED THE VEHICLE OCTOBER 2018 TO RECENTLY ON 2/20/2020. I WAS INFORMED TO FILE THIS BY THE OHIO ATTORNEY GENERAL WHILE FILING A COMPLAINT WITH THEM.
WHILE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY, OUR WINDSHIELD STARTED CRACKING, WE DIDN'T HEAR ANYTHING STRIKE WINDSHIELD, BUT ASSUMED IT WAS A PEBBLE. WE HAD IT REPLACED AT DEALERSHIP. ONE MONTH LATER, A PEBBLE DID MAKE A DING ON WINDSHIELD WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY. WHILE THAT DING WAS BEING REPAIRED (FILLED), THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED... THUS, NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN.
TWO CRAKCS ON MY 2019 SUBARU FORESTER WINDSHIELD. DON'T REMEMBER HOW IT HAPPENED JUST SAW IT ALL OF A SUDDEN, IMPAIR VERSION AND SAFETY. DEALER RECOMMENDED TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD AND HAVE THE EYE SIGHT SYSTEM READJUSTED.
WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A CRACK. VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND THERE WAS NO IMPACT TO THE WINDSHIELD.
THE FRONT WINDSHIELD SEEMED TO SPONTANEOUSLY CRACK WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. THE CRACK BEGAN IN THE LOWER MIDDLE PART OF THE WINDSHIELD AND SPREAD UPWARD ABOUT TEN INCHES. I ADVISED MY SUBARU DEALER OF THE ISSUED, AND THEY REFERRED ME TO SAFELITE AUTO GLASS, WHERE I REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD AT MY OWN EXPENSE.
THE BACK LIFT GATE WILL RANDOMLY STOP OPENING. THIS HAS ONLY BEEN TESTED WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED, IN PARK WITH EITHER ENGINE RUNNING OR SHUT OFF. IT WILL SOUND 3 SHORT BEEP/TONES BUT WILL NOT FUNCTION APPROPRIATELY WHEN THE LIFT GATE BUTTON IS PUSHED IN EITHER THE INTERIOR CONTROL, THE KEY FOB CONTROL, OR THE ACTUAL BUTTON ON THE LIFT GATE. THE ONLY THING THAT FIXES THE ISSUE IS TO DISCONNECT THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE FOR A FEW MINUTES AND RECONNECT IT. THIS FIX IS TEMPORARY AND THE LIFT GATE WILL AGAIN HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. WHEN DISCUSSING WITH THE SUBARU DEALERSHIP THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE.
THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED FOR NO REASON. THERE WAS NO COLLISION AND THERE ARE NO MARKS OF ANY ROCKS HITTING THE WINDSHIELD. SEEMS TO BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT.
BOTH REAR SEAT BELTS WILL NOT RETRACT ON THERE OWN, DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THEY MEET THE 49 CFR 571.209 STANDARD FOR RETRACTION FORCE AND ARE MUCH WEAKER THEN LOANER SUBARU OUTBACK.
I'VE OWNED MY CAR FOR JUST OVER A YEAR AND MY 3RD WINDSHIELD HAS JUST CRACKED. MY FIRST WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHEN A SMALL ROCK HIT THE TOP CORNER OF THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW AND WITHIN 5 MINUTES IT SPREAD TO THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD. IT HAD TO BE REPLACED AND RECALIBRATED, WHICH I HAD TO PAY A $250 DEDUCTIBLE. MY SECOND WINDSHIELD EXPERIENCED A CRACKED A FEW MONTHS AFTER BEING REPLACED AND NOTHING HIT IT THAT I'M AWARE OF. THE CRACK STARTED AT THE BOTTOM CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD, JUST UNDER THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND BY THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY IT SPREAD TO THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD. IT TOO HAD TO BE REPLACED AND RECALIBRATED FOR ANOTHER $250. SAFELIGHT ASSURED ME THAT THIS 2ND WINDSHIELD WOULD BE STRONGER THAN THE FIRST. TODAY, WHEN I GOT IN MY CAR AFTER WORK, I FOUND ANOTHER CRACK IN THE BOTTOM CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD AND IT WASN'T THERE THIS MORNING AND NOTHING HIT IT. IT'S ABOUT 6' IN LENGTH AND WILL PROBABLY SPREAD TONIGHT. THEN TO TOP THAT OFF, ON MY DRIVE HOME, DRIVING 35 MPH, A SMALL ROCK WAS KICKED UP FROM THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND HAS NOW PUT A CRACK IN THE CENTER OF THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD. I'VE NEVER IN MY LIFE EXPERIENCED SUCH A POORLY CONSTRUCTED WINDSHIELD THAT CRACKS SO EASILY. I'M FED UP WITH THIS
FREQUENTLY THE REAR TAIL GATE WILL NOT OPEN. SOMETIMES I CAN CONTINUE TO DEPRESS THE BUTTON AND IT WILL RELEASE AND THEN I CAN MANUALLY LIFT IT. THEN I PRESS THE CLOSE BUTTON AND IT WILL CLOSE.
BOUGHT A BRAND NEW 2019 FORESTER IN SEPT 2019. ITS WINDSHIELD CRACKED TWICE FROM A MINOR ROCK IMPACT DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING AT ABOUT 65 MPH. IN MY PREVIOUS 25 YEAR OF OWNING AND DRIVING OTHER CARS I HAVE NEVER HAD A WINDSHIELD CRACK AND HAVING WINDSHIELD CRACK TWICE IN SUCH SHORT PERIOD (5 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP) CANNOT BE A COINCIDENCE, THERE HAS TO BE A FLAW WITH SUBARU'S WINDSHIELD DESIGN OR QUALITY. JUDGING FROM THE RESULTS OF A GOOGLE SEARCH, OTHER OWNERS HAVE REPORTED THE SAME THING
I WAS PARKING AT A BUSY SKI CENTER, CAR IN DRIVE AS I WAS SLOWLY PULLING INTO AN OPEN SPACE, CAR IN FIRST ROW OF VEHICLES FACING A SMALL ROAD. THE ROAD CONNECTS THE PARKING LOT WITH THE SKI SHOP . 5 MPH WOULD BE NORMAL SPEED ON THIS ROAD, WHERE PEDESTRIAN SKIERS WALK FROM THE LOT TO THE SKI SHOP. BEFORE I COULD STOP TO TURN OFF THE CAR, THE ENGINE STARTED REVVING CRAZILY, THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD AND ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. BRAKES WOULD NOT RESPOND. I WAS ABLE TO STEER ONTO THE ROAD, CAR ACCELERATING FASTER AND FASTER, NO BRAKES, NO CONTROL. THERE WAS A SMALL CAR DRIVING SLOWLY SOME DISTANCE AHEAD, AND I WAS GAINING ON IT FAST, A SPLIT SECOND AWAY FROM CRUSHING IT, SO I DELIBERATELY SWERVED INTO A SNOWBANK, HIT SOME TREES, AND THAT FINALLY STOPPED MY CAR. I WAS UNHURT. EXTENSIVE FRONT END DAMAGE AND PASSENGER DOOR DAMAGE FRONT AND BACK, AND ROOF RACK DAMAGE. POLICE CAME TO THE SCENE, CAR WAS TOWED BY FLATBED BACK TO THE DEALER. INSURANCE PAID FOR THE REPAIRS. MANUFACTURER WILL EXAMINE THE VEHICLE THOROUGHLY, WILL REMOVE THE "BLACK BOX" TO FIND WHAT WAS THE CAUSE OF UNINTENDED ACCELERATION AND LOSS OF BRAKES. THIS EXAMINATION MAY TAKE 4-6 WEEKS. SO FORTUNATE THAT NO ONE WAS INJURED OR KILLED. I CANNOT ESTIMATE WHAT SPEED THE CAR REACHED ON ITS OWN.
THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. I PRESSED THE POWER REAR GATE OPEN BUTTON ON THE DRIVER SIDE DASH, BUT THE REAR GATE DIDN'T OPEN, AND THE CAR JUST BEEPED THREE TIMES. THE BEEPS WOULD HAPPEN EVERY TIME I TRIED TO PRESS THE GATE BUTTON ON THE CAR OR ON THE FAUB. I OPENED THE ACCESS PANEL AND MANUALLY OPENED THE DOOR, EXTENDING THE DOOR TO FULL HEIGHT. WHEN I PRESSED THE BUTTONS ON THE CAR, THE POWER GATE WOULD GO DOWN BUT WOULD SLAM SHUT AND THE CAR WOULD ISSUE A LONG BEEP. WHEN I PRESSED THE BUTTON EITHER ON THE CAR OR THE FAUB TO REOPEN THE REAR GATE, IT WOULDN'T BUDGE AND THE THREE BEEPS HAPPENED AGAIN. I THEN PRESSED THE BUTTONS ON THE CAR AND HELD THEM PASSED THE THREE BEEPS UNTIL THE GATE UNLOCKED AND I WAS ABLE TO LIFT IT OPEN. THE GATE CLOSED AGAIN WHEN I PRESSED THE LOCK/GATE CLOSE BUTTONS, SLAMMING SHUT AS BEFORE WITH THE LONG BEEP. NO MATTER WHAT I TRIED, I COULDN'T GET THE GATE TO OPEN ON ITS OWN ( WITH POWER). WHEN I TURNED THE CAR ON, THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THE REAR GATE WAS OPEN, BUT WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND STARTED TO DRIVE, THE CAR CONTINUOUSLY BEEPED UNTIL I STOPPED DRIVING AND PUT IT IN PARK. I TURNED IT OFF AND LET IT SIT OVERNIGHT. THE NEXT DAY, I TRIED TO OPEN THE HATCH AS MENTIONED ABOVE AND IT STILL DID NOT OPEN, THOUGH I COULD MANUALLY OPEN IT IF I HELD THE BUTTONS DOWN BEYOND THE THREE BEEPS. WHEN I TRIED TO TURN THE CAR ON, THOUGH, IT WOULD NOT START. AFTER I TRIED TO START THE CAR WITH THE PUSH BUTTON START, ALL THE ICONS BEGAN FLASHING AND CLICKING ON THE DASH AND CONTROL PANELS AND THE EYESIGHT FUNCTION WAS OFF AND THE CAR SAID TO CHECK VEHICLE FUNCTION, ALL WHILE FLASHING AND CLICKING. WHEN I PRESSED HE BUTTON START AGAIN IT ALL STOPPED. THE PARKING PEDAL SEEMED VERY STIFF AND WAS DIFFICULT TO PRESS AT ALL. THE CAR WOULD NOT START THROUGH STARLINK EITHER, SO NOW IT SITS IN MY PARKING LOT UNTIL I TOW IT TO A DEALER TOMORROW.
PARKED MY VEHICLE IN MY DRIVEWAY WITH NO OVERHEAD COVER AFTER I RETURNED HOME FROM WORK AT APPROXIMATELY 1430 HOURS ON 2/7/20. THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE AT THIS TIME WAS APPROXIMATELY 25 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. THE VEHICLES WINDSHIELD DID NOT HAVE A CRACK AT THIS TIME. NOTHING HIT MY WINDSHIELD ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK. I STARTED MY VEHICLE WITH MY REMOTE START LEAVING MY RESIDENCE AT APPROXIMATELY 1800 HOURS ON THE SAME DATE. AS I SAT IN THE OPERATORS SEAT OF MY VEHICLE APPROXIMATELY 1 MINUTE AFTER I INITIATED THE REMOTE START, I OBSERVED A LARGE CRACK IN MY WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK STARTS BELOW MY WINDSHIELD WIPER UNDER THE PLASTIC PIECE WHERE THE EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD GLASS IS COVERED. UPON CLOSER INSPECTION FROM OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE I DISCOVERED ZERO EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT AN OBJECT HAD STRUCK MY VEHICLES WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK APPEARS TO HAVE SPONTANEOUSLY OCCURRED. I PERFORMED SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND DISCOVERED SPONTANEOUS WINDSHIELD CRACKS ON MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE IS A KNOWN ISSUE DUE TO SUBPAR DEFECTIVE GLASS AND THAT CRACKS ARE CAUSED BY THE HEAT FROM THE WINDSHIELD WIPER HEATER USED IN COMBINATION WITH THE WINDSHIELD DEFROSTER. WHICH IS THE EXACT CIRCUMSTANCE MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED IN. RESEARCH ALSO ADVISED THAT THIS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED BY SUBARU NOR DO THEY COVER REPAIR/REPLACEMENT COSTS. WINDSHIELD REPAIR/REPLACEMENT IS VERY EXPENSIVE BECAUSE OF THE SPECIAL OEM SUBARU GLASS THAT IS REQUIRED IN ORDER FOR THE SUBARU EYESIGHT SENSORS TO FUNCTION PROPERLY WHICH MY VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH. SUBARU ALSO REFUSES TO COVER THE COSTLY RECALIBRATION OF THE SUBARU EYESIGHT SENSORS WHICH IS REQUIRED WHEN THE WINDSHIELD IS REPLACED. RECALIBRATION ALONE COSTS APPROXIMATELY $1000-$2000 USD IN ADDITION TO THE COST OF THE WINDSHIELD AND WINDSHIELD INSTALLATION. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT SUBARU APPEARS TO IGNORE
TRAVELING FROM RI TO WESTERN NY. DEPARTED RI IN AM WITH MODERATE RAINFALL WHEN "EYESIGHT DISABLED" INDICATOR FLASHED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF HALF HOUR. WHEN RAIN SUBSIDED, INDICATOR DISAPPEARED. SEVERAL HOURS LATER, WAS DRIVING 65-70MPH ON STRAIGHT SECTION OF MAJOR INTERSTATE WITH GOOD VISIBILITY, APPROACHING A HIGHWAY OVERPASS WHEN "OBSTACLE DETECTED" WARNING APPEARED DESPITE NO OBSTACLE IN ROAD, AND SHORTLY THEREAFTER CAR WENT INTO A SLOW SPIN (FELT AS IF FLOATING) TOWARDS LEFT, STRIKING A GUARDRAIL UNDERNEATH THE OVERPASS HEAD-ON AND CONTINUING TO SPIN 360 DEGREES AT WHICH POINT I WAS ABLE TO RECOVER CONTROL OF THE CAR. IT FELT AS IF BRAKES HAD ENGAGED (? CRASH IMMINENT BRAKING SYSTEM) ALTHOUGH I DID NOT HAVE FOOT ON BRAKE PEDAL AND I DID NOT ATTEMPT TO BRAKE WHILE IN THE SPIN AS I FEARED ROLLING THE VEHICLE. DESPITE EXTENSIVE FRONT END DAMAGE, AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. HAD TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE IN ALBANY, NY AND CURRENTLY AWAITING EVALUATION BY INSURANCE ADJUSTER. OF NOTE, 5 MONTHS EARLIER THE WINDSHIELD HAD CRACKED WHEN HIT WITH SMALL ROCK AND WAS REPLACED AT SUBARU DEALERSHIP WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED.
THE CAR OCCASIONALLY ACTS LIKE IT GOING TO STALL , PRIMARILY WHEN TURNING LEFT AT TRAFFIC SIGNALS. THE ACCELERATOR HAS TO BE PUSHED HARD TO OVERCOME THE APPROXIMATELY 1- 1.5 SECOND DELAY BEFORE THE CAR STARTS TO ACCELERATE. THIS HAS CAUSED NEAR COLLISIONS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE ENGINE STOP BUTTON WAS ACTIVATED TO PREVENT ENGINE STOPPING AT CAR IDLE.
OFTEN, BUT NOT ALWAYS, MOSTLY WHEN TURNING LEFT FROM A STOP AS AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT THE CAR WILL HESITATE AND LOSE POWER AND SPEED. THEN I TRY TO ACCELERATE AND THE CAR SURGES FORWARD TOO FAST. I FEEL THAT I AM GOING TO STALL IN THE INTERSECTION.
I BOUGHT A 2019 FORRESTER SUBARU AND EXPERIENCED A CRACK ON THE FRONT WINDSHIELD FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I NOTICED THE CRACK AS I WAS DRIVING IT HOME THE DAY I BOUGHT IT. I HAVE READ THAT MANY OTHER 2019 SUBARU FORESTER OWNERS EXPERIENCED CRACKS ON THEIR WINDSHIELDS FOR NO APPARENT REASON. SUBARU FORESTER USES SPECIAL GLASS TO ENSURE THE CAMERAS INSIDE THE VEHICLE WORK SO PERHAPS THE GLASS IS DEFECTIVE. SUBARU HAS HAD ISSUES WITH THEIR WINDSHIELD IN THE PAST WITH OLDER MODELS.
THE WINDSHIELD ON MY VEHICLE CRACKED OVERNIGHT WHILE SITTING PARKED IN MY GARAGE. THE CRACK BEGINS EXACTLY AT THE TOP DEAD CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD AND EXTENDS STRAIGHT DOWNWARD AND IS APPROXIMATELY 16" LONG AT THIS POINT. THERE ARE NO ROCK CHIPS OR DAMAGE THAT CLEARLY LEAD THO THIS FRACTURE. THE VEHICLE IS ONLY 1 YEAR OLD WITH JUST OVER 10K MILES ON IT. I NOTIFIED MY LOCAL DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THIS WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I HAVE ALSO CONTACTED SUBARU OF AMERICA REGARDING THE ISSUE AND AM AWAITING A RESPONSE.

WINDSHIELD SUDDENLY CRACKED. NO VISIBLE AREA THAT WOULD INDICATE IT WAS THE RESULT OF A ROCK AND THE CRACK FORMING FROM THE INITIAL IMPACT. UNCERTAIN OF CAUSE. CRACK IS ROUGHLY 14-16 INCHES FROM THE TOP OF THE PASSENGER SIDE DOWN TO JUST UNDER THE REAR-VIEW MIRROR IN A HOOK LIKE FASHION. CRACK WAS INITIALLY DISCOVERED ON A STATIONARY VEHICLE, PARKED IN A RESTAURANT PARKING LOT. THE CRACK WAS NOT OBSERVED PRIOR TO GETTING INTO THE VEHICLE.

I TOOK MY FORESTER 2019 UP TO BIG BEAR MOUNTAIN. MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED OUTSIDE OF THE CABIN. IN THE MORNING DUE TO COLD WEATHER THE WINDSHIELD HAD ICE AND SNOW, WHEN I TURNED ON THE HEATER IN DEFROST MODE A BIG CRACKED APPEARED ON THE WINDSHIELD.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED NEAR THE REAR-VIEW MIRROR THAT ABOUT AS LONG AS 2 DOLLAR BILLS. HAD TO PAY $1,497 W/ TAX FOR REPLACEMENT AND RE-CALIBRATION OF EYESIGHT SYSTEM. THEY DETERMINED IT WAS NON-FACTORY DEFECT AFTER FINDING THE SMALLEST CHIP WHERE THE CRACK CHANGED DIRECTIONS. DIDN'T SPIDERWEB CRACKED, JUST 2 LINES.
I HAVE EXPERIENCED 2 CRACKS IN MY WINDSHIELD IN THE 1ST 10 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP. BOTH INSTANCES OCCURRED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY. WHEN I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM ST. CLOUD SUBARU IN MINNESOTA, I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A CHIP IN THE WINDSCREEN. WHEN I PICKED IT UP ON 1/3/20, I VISUALLY CONFIRMED THAT THERE WAS INDEED A CHIP THE SIZE OF PENNY IN THE WINDSCREEN.
