THE REAR DOOR ON THE FORRESTER SPORT DOES NOT OPEN. IT FIRST HAPPENED AFTER GOING THROUGH A CAR WASH, THE DOOR DOES NOT OPEN EVEN IF THE CAR IS UNLOCKED. NEITHER BY FOB OR DOOR BUTTON. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO RECREATE PROBLEM HOWEVER IT HAPPENED AGAIN AFTER A LIGHT RAIN. DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN. THERE HAVE BEEN SIMILAR CLAIMS ONLINE FOR THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL. ONLY FIX I HAVE IS HOLDING THE DOOR BUTTON UNTIL IT SWITCHES FROM AUTOMATIC TO MANUAL AND IT SEEMS TO RESET IT. HOWEVER THIS ONLY WORKED ONCE OUT OF THE 2 TIMES IT HAS HAPPENED IN THE LAST MONTH.
WHILE DRIVING AND VEHICLE IN MOTION, INTERMITTENTLY THE FOLLOWING INDICATOR/WARNING LIGHTS COME ON, STAY ON, GO OFF, AND COME BACK ON AGAIN WITHOUT ANY PATTERN: THE BSD/RCTA WARNING, THE AUTO START STOP, HILL DESCENT CONTROL, ACCIDENT AVOIDANCE/BRAKING, LANE ASSIST, AND EYESIGHT. ONE OR MORE WARNING/INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON AND THEN SOMETIMES GOES OFF EVERY TIME I DRIVE. STARTED ON JANUARY 18TH-STILL HAPPENING FEB 1, 2020.. HAPPENS REGARDLESS OF ROAD CONDITION (DRY, WET), TEMPERATURE (VERY COLD, WARM (40 DEGREES), OR SPEED (25 MPH TO 60 MPH). THIS HAS HAPPENED ON HIGHWAY, CITY, RURAL ROADS. THE DRIVER TOUCHES NOTHING AND DOES NOTHING TO BEGIN/END THESE. SOMETIMES THE LIGHTS STAY ON AND THEN WHEN TRIP IS ENDED, VEHICLE TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, THE LIGHTS REMAIN ON. SOMETIMES NEXT TIME THE VEHICLE IS STARTED, THE LIGHTS ARE OFF. THE LANE ASSIST INDICATOR AND AUTO BRAKING IN PARTICULAR, ARE OF CONCERN. THE LANE ASSIST COMES ON (ON ITS OWN) AND IS WHITE'THEN, WHILE DRIVING, IT TURNS GREEN AND TRIES TO STEER THE CAR OFF TO THE RIGHT 'THE DRIVER HAS TO HOLD ON TIGHT AND FIGHT THE STEERING WHEEL AND CAR. THIS SEEMS VERY UNSAFE. THE DRIVER HAS TRIED TURNING OFF THESE LIGHTS/FUNCTIONS WHEN THEY JUST POP UP'WHILE DRIVING'BUT IF IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, CANNOT ALLOW FOR THESE DISTRACTIONS. IF CLEAR/NO TRAFFIC, DRIVER ATTEMPTS SHUTTING OFF THESE FEATURES BY PRESSING THE BUTTONS WITH THESE ICONS 'ON THE CENTER REAR VIEW MIRROR PANEL OR ON THE LOWER LEFT PANEL BELOW DASHBOARD. SOMETIMES THIS WORKS, SOMETIMES DOESN'T AND THEY REMAIN ON. THE UNEXPECTED NATURE OF WARNING LIGHTS GOING ON AND OFF AND DIFFICULTY CONTROLLING THE STEERING WHEEL ARE REALLY CAUSING CONCERN. IT IS LIKE THE CAR IS POSSESSED. THIS IS A NEW VEHICLE (5 MONTHS). DEALER CONTACTED FOR SERVICE BUT TOLD HAD TO WAIT 3 WEEKS FOR APPOINTMENT. TRYING NOT TO GET IN AN ACCIDENT UNTIL THEN...
GOT IN MY CAR, AND NOTICED A GIANT CRACK GOING UP FROM BOTTOM OF DRIVER'S SIDE WINDSHIELD TO MIDDLE. ONCE LOOKING THERE IS A SMALL CHIP AT BASE OF WINDSHIELD
WINDSHIELD CRACKED FOR NO REASON.
Battery hesitated when starting engine within 7-9 months of ownership. Spoke to mechanics and service staff several times then and later and was told I need to drive it every 2-3 days to keep battery charged. By 18 months of ownership it was completely dying by fourth day of not driving so I took it into service. After 9 days in service and then service not waiting my advised 4 days to cold start it, they said it’s fine and drive more or get a battery tender. (And that the battery compartment will not accommodate a larger, more powerful replacement battery!). So I purchased a battery tender and keep it attached at all times, just in case. And, I had to purchase a portable charger to keep in my car because an outlet isn’t always available and I could get stranded somewhere. I bought this car upon retirement as my forever car but I do not feel safe or comfortable owning it. I shouldn’t be forced to drive my car every 2-3 days. And should I really be going through all this when purchasing a new car?
WINDSHIELD CRACKED DURING DAY WHILE SITTING IN PARKING LOT AT MY OFFICE. NO H/O INJURY OR ROCK HITTING WINDSHIELD.
THERE IS A CRACK/CHIP IN MY WINDSHIELD.
ON THE MORNING OF SUNDAY, JANUARY 12, 2020, I WENT TO GET INTO MY PARKED 2019 SUBARU FORESTER AND NOTICED A HORIZONTAL CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK IS ROUGHLY 17 INCHES LONG ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. I DROVE THE VEHICLE ON THE FREEWAY THE DAY BEFORE, BUT DID NOT NOTICE ANYTHING HIT THE WINDSHIELD AND THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED IN THE GARAGE OVERNIGHT. THE CRACK APPEARS TO HAVE COME ABOUT WITHOUT CAUSE AND INHIBITS THE DRIVER'S ABILITY TO CLEARLY SEE THE ROAD.
I HAVE A SECOND CRACKED WINDSHIELD ON MY FORESTER, WHICH I HAVE OWNED FOR 19 MONTHS, AND HAS JUST OVER 23,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. IN BOTH CASES, I NOTICED THE CRACKS AFTER GOING OUT TO START THE CAR IN THE MORNING. THOSE MORNINGS, I THOUGHT ABOUT THE LAST TIME I DROVE THE CAR, AND I COULDN'T THINK OF A NOISE I HEARD, WHICH YOU WOULD TYPICALLY ASSOCIATE WITH A FOREIGN OBJECT HITTING THE WINDSHIELD. NOTHING. NO MATTER HOW FAINT. THE FIRST CRACKED WINDSHIELD HAPPENED AT JUST OVER 10,000 MILES, AND THE SECOND HAPPENED AT 19,500 MILES. I AM CONVINCED THAT THIS IS AN ENGINEERING ISSUE WITH SUBARU OF AMERICA. I VOICED THIS CONCERN TO THE EMPLOYEES AT SUBARU, BUT WAS INFORMED THAT IS WAS NOT AN ENGINEERING PROBLEM. ADDITIONALLY, THE TWO CRACKS STARTED WITHIN 4 INCHED OF EACH OTHER, BY MY ESTIMATE, SLIGHTLY LEFT OF CENTER IF LOOKING AT IT FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR, AND NEAR TO BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD. SMALL DIVOT IN THE LOWER LEFT SIDE CORNER OF THE FRONT WINDSHIELD EXPANDED TO 13 INCH CRACK WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED HALF WAY ACROSS
MY VEHICLE WAS SITTING IN THE GARAGE AND MY WIFE HAD JUST RETURNED FROM WORK. AFTER PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK, SHE HEARD WHAT SHE THOUGHT WAS A LOW SCREECH. WHEN SHE LOOKED UP, A LINE WAS FORMING IN THE WINDSHIELD FROM THE STEERING WHEEL TO ABOUT 10 INCHES ACROSS TOWARDS THE PASSENGER SIDE. WE HAVE HAD 4 MORE INSTANCES WHERE WE HAVE GOTTEN INTO THE CAR AND ANOTHER CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD IS THERE. WE CURRENTLY HAVE 5 LINES OF CRACKS IN THE WINDSHIELD FROM NO CONTACT.
AS I WAS DRIVING IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE ON THE FLORIDA TURNPIKE AT 75 MPH, MY DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR WINDOW SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERED. THE ENTIRE WINDOW DISINTEGRATED WITH MOST OF THE GLASS FLYING INTO THE CAR. TEMPERATURE WAS ONLY ABOUT 75 DEGREES. NOTHING IMPACTED THE WINDOW - IT JUST EXPLODED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU FORESTER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY, THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED WITHOUT IMPACT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE CRACK MIGHT HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY A ROCK. THE CONTACT STATED IT WAS NOT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 6,500.
MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED AT ABOUT 4000 MILES
A SMALL CHIP IN THE WINDSHIELD TOWARDS THE CENTER. THIS HAS PROBABLY NOT HAPPENED DURING DRIVING AND THE CHIP WAS CONFIRMED DURING THE FIRSTS ERVICE.
DEFECTIVE WINDSHIELD CRACK BEGINS AT THE TOP OF WINDSHIELD AND DECLINES TO MIDDLE OF WINDSHIELD. THERE IS NO APPARENT OBJECT IMPACT CAUSING THE WINDSHIELD TO CRACK.
BOUGHT THE CAR ON FEB-2019. PARKED THE VEHICLE ON THE STREET 12/27/2019 NIGHT, NEXT DAY MORNING THE VEHICLE WINDOWSHIELD GET 8 INCHES CRACK. CHECK AROUND THE VEHICLE, DID NOT FIND ANYTHING ON THE VEHICLE & NO SCRATCH ON THE CAR BODY. FIXED IT SAME DAY, 4 WEEKS LATER, THE CRACK GET ANOTHER 7 INCHES LONGER. COMPLAINED IT TO THE DEALER & GET TOLD: I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE HAD THE ISSUE, IT IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY, INSURENCE SHOULD COVER IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU FORESTER. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD CRACKING SOUND COMING FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND FELT SOME ROUGH SPOTS THAT WERE CRACKS ON THE GLASS. THE CONTACT CALLED KEARNY MESA SUBARU (4797 CONVOY ST, SAN DIEGO, CA 92111, (858) 278-7100) AND WAS INFORMED TO CALL HER INSURANCE COMPANY BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT ASSIST. THE CONTACT SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH A WINDOW REPAIR COMPANY. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,731.
THE WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A FOOT-LONG, SNAKING CRACK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BOTTOM SPONTANEOUSLY ONE NIGHT WHILE PARKED IN A COVERED CARPORT. NO INCLEMENT WEATHER THAT NIGHT, AND NOTHING ELSE THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THE DAMAGE.
ONE MORNING I WENT OUT TO START MY CAR AND NOTICED TO LARGE PARALLEL CRACKS VERTICAL CRACKS ABOUT A FOOT APART IN THE WINDSHIELD ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. ONE CRACK RUN STARTS AT THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD AND RUNS ABOUT 12 INCHES. THE OTHER CRACK STARTS AT THE BOTTOM AND RUNS ABOUT 18 INCHES. THE CRACKS CAN BE FELT TO THE TOUCH FROM THE OUTSIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD. TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE, THERE HAVE BEEN NO INCIDENTS WHILE DRIVING THE CAR THAT WOULD LEAD TO THE CRACKS SPONTANEOUSLY APPEARING. SHORTLY AFTER FINDING THE CRACKS IN THE WINDSHIELD, SMALL HORIZONTAL CRACKS BEGAN DEVELOPING IN THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT WINDOW. MY SUBARU DEALERSHIP ACKNOWLEDGED THAT ODD BEHAVIOR AND APPEARANCE OF THE CRACKS AND WAS NOT SURE WHAT COULD CAUSE SUCH BEHAVIOR, BUT WOULD NOT CLAIM THAT THERE WAS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH REVEALED THAT MANY OTHER SUBARU FORESTER OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR CRACKING IN THE WINDSHIELD.
WHILE DRIVING FOR THE PAST 8 MONTHS I HAVE HAD 2 CHIPS IN MY WINDSHIELD FROM SMALL UNKNOWN OBJECTS STRIKING THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. BOTH INCIDENTS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT AND UNDER 45 MPH. FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE ON THE OFF RAMP OF AN INTERSTATE CAUSING A SMALL CHIP. SECOND INCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE ON A STATE ROUTE AND IN THE PASSING LANE. SMALL UNKNOWN OBJECT STRUCK WINDSHIELD CAUSING QUARTER INCH CHIP.
ROCK CRACKED WINDSHIELD, WHILE MOVING ON FREEWAY, DRIVERS SIDE. 2 DAYS LATER CRACK RAN ABOUT HALF WAY ACROSS WINDSHIELD IN FRONT OF DRIVER. LARGE TRUCK SENT ROCK INTO WINDSHIELD, WHILE MOVING DOWN FREEWAY.
WHILE DRIVING A SMALL STONE FLEW UP HIT THE WINDSHIELD & IT CRACKED NOT A CHIP A CRACK.
OVER 8,200 MILES OF DRIVING MY 2019 FORESTER, MY WINDSHIELD HAS EXPERIENCED THREE STONE CHIPS, ONE REQUIRING THE COMPLETE REPLACEMENT OF MY WINDSHIELD. ONE CHIP (AND ONE DAY LATER, A CRACKED WINDSHIELD) WAS WHILE SITTING STATIONARY ON A HIGHWAY; A SECOND WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH ON A LOCAL CITY ROAD; AND THE THIRD WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 55 MPH ON A HIGHWAY. COMPARE THIS TO ONE STONE CHIP WHILE IN MOTION, ON MY 2009 FORESTER, COVERING OVER 80,000 MILES AND TEN YEARS OF DRIVING.
MY WIFE AND I WERE RETURNING TO OUR PARKED VEHICLE AND AND THERE WAS AN APPROXIMATE 18 INCH CRACK APPEARING ON THE LOWER DRIVERS SIDE PORTION OF THE WINDSHIELD. NO CRACK OR ANY SIGN OF DAMAGE WAS VISIBLE BEFORE THAT. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN STATIONARY IN A PARKING LOT.
AUTOMATIC REAR LIFT GATE WILL NOT OPEN (WITH EITHER KEY FOB OR INSIDE AUTO RELEASE). BEEPS THREE TIMES AND STILL WILL NOT RELEASE. (THIS STARTED ON 12/15/19). ALSO, LOCKS APPEAR TO HAVE AN ELECTRICAL SHORT (I.E. SOMETIMES THEY WORK, SOMETIMES THEY WON'T). AT TIMES, TOUCHING THE DOOR HANDLE WILL NOT OPEN/LOCK THE DOORS AND UNLOCK MUST BE PRESSED ON FOB INSTEAD. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR PAST 5-6 MONTHS. VEHICLE IS STATIONARY FOR ALL ISSUES.
WINDSHIELD UNEXPECTEDLY AND WITHOUT DAMAGE OR CONTACT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD FROM THE TOP MIDDLE TO CENTER OF WINDSHIELD AND PROCEEDED TO CRACK HORIZONTALLY TO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND CRACK INITIATED OVERNIGHT.
IN UNDER 8 WEEKS MY WINDSHIELD HAS HAD 3 CHIPS AND FINALLY IT HAS CRACKED TO THE POINT WHERE I HAVE TO HAVE IT REPLACED. AFTER THE 2ND CHIP I REALIZED THIS WAS NOT BAD LUCK BUT FAULTY PRODUCT. I CONTACTED MY DEALER & THE SUBARU FACTORY WITH NO HELP. THE FIRST 3 CHIPS HAPPENED WHEN I WAS DRIVING THE 4TH JUST WARMING UP THE CAR. I UNDERSTAND PEBBLES HIT YOUR WINDSHIELD WHEN DRIVING BUT THE 4TH TIME IT HAPPENED THE CAR WAS STATIONARY
2019 FORESTER PURCHASED 4/19, WINDSHIELD CRACKED SPONTANEOUSLY ON 12/13/19
A SMALL PEBBLE HIT MY WINDSHIELD ON THE FREEWAY ON THE BOTTOM DRIVER SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD, THIS NOT ONLY CAUSE A CHIP, BUT ALSO A CRACK OVER 12 INCHES LONG. I HAVE NEVER HAD A WINDSHIELD WITH SUCH A LARGE CRACK FROM SUCH A SMALL CHIP. I SUSPECT THE GLASS IS DEFECTIVE.
JUST AS OTHERS SAID, I WAS DRIVING ON A LOCAL STREET WITHOUT ANY BIG RIG / TRUCK IN SIGHT AND ALL OF A SUDDEN WINDSHIELD GOT A SPOT CRACK, ABOUT PENNY SIZE. CAR IS 2019 SUBARU FORESTER LIMITED.
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, THE REAR LIFT GATE HAS NOT OPENED AS COMMANDED BY THE KEY FOB AND/OR THE DASHBOARD CONTROL. THERE IS NO ELECTRONIC OVERRIDE OR MANUAL LATCH. THIS ISSUE LEAVES YOU WITHOUT ACCESS TO THE REAR CARGO COMPARTMENT. ON EACH OCCASION, THE CAR WAS STATIONARY AND IN PARK.
WELL, IT LOOKS LIKE I GOT THE SAME ISSUES AS MANY OTHERS WITH MY FORESTER: DRIVING ON A LOCAL ROAD, GOT SMALL ROCK HIT RIGHT CORNER OF MY WINDSHIELD. NOTHING HAPPENED THEN, NO CRACK, JUS TINY SPOT FROM THE ROCK. PARKED CAR OVERNIGHT INTO THE GARAGE AND DISCOVERED HUGE CRACK IN THE MORNING, ALL WAY FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE TO THE MIDDLE OF THE GLASS. I HAD MANY OTHER ROCKS, BIG AND NOT HIT ME BUT I DID NOT HAVE ANYTHING LIKE THAT. FOR 20 YEARS OF DRIVING MY WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED ONCE, JUST BECAUSE OF CHIP LOCATION (UNREPAIRED ZONE). THIS IS RIDICULOUS! SUBARU, TAKE AN ACTION ON THIS.
WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY AT 55 MPH I HEARD A LOUD POPPING NOISE AND THEN DISCOVERED A LARGE DIAGONAL CRACK IN MY WINDSHIELD. TOOK TO SUBARU DEAL WHO CONFIRMED WINDSHIELD NEEDED REPLACING. REPLACEMENT AND RECALIBRATION OF "EYESIGHT" GUIDANCE SYSTEM PERFORMED BY DEALER
THE CAR WAS PURCHASED IN MARCH 2019, AND A FEW MONTHS LATER THE WINDSHIELD JUST CRACKED, WITHOUT BEING HIT BY ANYTHING. THIS KIND OF WINDSHIELD HAS THE VISION SENSORS ATTACHED. WE TRIED TO FIX THE CRACK BUT THE FIX DID NOT HOLD, SO THE CRACK HAS EXTENDED TO AT LEAST 15 INCHES LONG.
OUR 2019 SUBARU FORESTER HAS HAD NUMEROUS WINDSHIELD CRACKS AND CHIPS AND CURRENTLY HAS LESS THAN 7000 MILES ON IT. THE FIRST CHIP OCCURRED AT AROUND 2000 MILES AND SPLIT INTO A SIZABLE CRACK WITHIN 24 HOURS. THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED FOR OVER $1000 AT 3330 MILES BUT HAD RECEIVED A COUPLE ADDITIONAL CHIPS PRIOR TO ITS REPLACEMENT. ADDITIONAL CHIP REPAIRS OCCURRED AT AT 5125 MILES AND 6460 MILES. ALL CHIPS/CRACKS OCCURRED FROM MINOR ROCK STRIKES THAT HAVEN'T/WOULDN'T CAUSE ISSUES IN OTHER VEHICLES. ALL ROCK STRIKES OCCURRED ON PAVED ROADS AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 30 AND 55 MPH. DEALERSHIP CONTINUES TO DENY ANY ISSUE AND CLAIMS WE JUST HAVE BAD LUCK. HAVING 4 CHIPS AND 1 CRACK ON A VEHICLE WITH LESS ROUGHLY 6500 MILES IS TOUGH TO BELIEVE IT IS JUST BAD LUCK HOWEVER...
TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY, APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, TAPPED BRAKES AND ANTI LOCKS ACTIVATED, IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARDS ENTIRE DASHBOARD LIT UP WITH EVERY WARNING LIGHT POSSIBLE ON THE VEHICLE. I TOOK THE FIRST EXIT, TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY A QUARTER OF A MILE FROM START OF INCIDENT, INTO A PARKING LOT, DIRECTLY OFF THE HIGHWAY, WHEN THE CAR SHUT DOWN. TRIED MULTIPLE TIMES TO RESTART THE CAR- IT WOULD CATCH AND THEN SHUT OFF. ENDED UP GETTING IT TOWED TO MY HOME DEALER. THE CAUSE IS UNKNOWN. IT APPEARED TO BE A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE COMPUTER WHICH CAUSED THE ENTIRE CARS SYSTEMS TO SHUT DOWN. PICTURES SHOW DASH LIT UP AND SCREEN SHOT OF 'MY SUBARU' APP WHICH INDICATED ONLY SOME OF THE WARNING LIGHTS, ALTHOUGH ALL LIGHTS WERE LIT.
While my Subaru forester 2019 was in a parked location, the window spontaneously shattered on upper corner of the passenger side. At the time, the car had less than 15,000 miles on it.
It did not take more than one week after buying my new 2019 Subaru Forester in November 2019 when the windshield cracked for no reason. Due to the cost I have not replaced the windshield even today. I just read that there is a court case that forces Subaru to replace my windshield but requires me to file with a complaint through the NHTSA. Please accept this as my complaint.
STOPPED TO GET GAS AND WHILE WASHING WINDOW NOTICED A 12 INCH CRACK ON WINDSHIELD STARTING FROM REARVIEW MIRROR DOWN. UNSURE WHAT HAS CAUSED THIS CRACK AS WE HAVE ONLY OWNED OUR 2019 FORESTER FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS.
BOUGHT THE CAR 9/18/19, SMALL PEBBLE HIT WINDSHIELD WHICH INSTANTLY CRACKED DEC 1, 2019, HAD TO REPLACE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD LESS THAN 3 MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED CAR. I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY.
WAS DRIVING AND HEARD A CRACK. NO STONE OR OBJECT HIT THE WINDSHIELD. DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING. PUT THE CAR IN THE GARAGE. CAME OUT AN HOUR LATER AND THERE WAS A 15" CRACK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDSHIELD
I PARKED MY 2019 SUBARU TOURING TRIM CAR IN MY COUSIN'S DRIVEWAY ON FRIDAY, NOV 29, 2019. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE WINDSHIELD. I VISITED WITH HIM OVER LUNCH. I CAME BACK OUT TO THE CAR AT ABOUT 3:00PM AND ON SITTING IN MY DRIVER'S SEAT AND LOOKING OUT I IMMEDIATELY NOTICED A LARGE CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD, STARTING FROM THE GLASS EDGE UNDER THE TRIM, GOING UP ABOUT 7 INCHES AND THEN TURNING AND GOING OVER ABOUT 7 MORE INCHES. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 2ND. THEY INSPECTED THE DAMAGE AND SAID THEY HAD DETERMINED IT WASN'T SOMETHING COVERED BY WARRANTY. WINDSHIELDS, PROPERLY MANUFACTURED AND PROPERLY INSTALLED, DON'T JUST CRACK! INTEGRITY OF THE WINDSHIELD IS PART OF THE CRASH PROTECTION FOR THE VEHICLE SO THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2019 SUBARU FORESTER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL THE AUTOMATIC SAFETY FEATURES FAILED ON THE VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 50-55 MPH AND CHANGING LANES, THE LANE DEPARTURE WARNING FAILED. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A FRACTURED STERNUM THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE BEFORE IT CAUGHT FIRE AND BURNED TO THE GROUND. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW YARD AND DEEMED DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 14,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED ON LOWER DRIVERS SIDE FOR NO APPARENT REASON WHILE CAR WAS IN MOTION AT HIGHWAY SPEED. CRACK THEN SPREAD ACROSS (AND UP) ALMOST THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD OVERNIGHT WHILE CAR WAS STATIONARY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU FORESTER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED WITHOUT IMPACT. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS CONTACTED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE WINDSHIELD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000.

THE DEALER LITHIA SUBARU OF FRESNO 5200 N BLACKSTONE AVE, FRESNO, CA 93710 (559) 540-7189 WAS CONTACTED IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE REMEDY PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
WHEN DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY A PEA SIZED PEBBLE STRUCK THE VERY TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD, WHERE IT ADJOINS THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE. IMMEDIATELY A 16 INCH CRACK APPEARED IN THE WINDSHIELD. THE PEBBLE WAS SO SMALL, A NORMAL WINDSHIELD SHOULD NOT HAVE CRACKED. I BELIEVE THE WINDSHIELD IS DEFECTIVE. IT WILL COST OVER $1200 TO REPLACE.
WINDSHIELD CRACK REALLY EASILY LESS THAN 3 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE OF VEHICLE. MAYBE WE HIT A POT HOLE TOO HARD ON THE HIGHWAY OR SOMETHING BECAUSE IT STARTED AT THE VERY EDGE. OEM WINDSHIELD SEEM TO BE VERY THIN CRACKED EASILY AND CRACK GOT BIGGER OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS HAD TO GET WINDSHIELD REPLACED OUT OF POCKET.
