I HAD THE NEW 2019 SUBARU FORESTER FOR NOT EVEN A MONTH YET, AND I HAVE BEEN IN THE DEALERSHIP FOR 5 TIMES REGARD OF POWER REAR GATE NOT OPENING AND CRACKED RIGHT REAR QUARTER GLASS, WHICH OF THE TWO I CONSIDERED MANUFACTURER DEFECTS, BUT THEY DENIED ON BOTH ISSUES BUT COULD NOT PROVIDE ME THE REASON AND PROPER WAY OF HOW THEY'RE GOING TO HANDLE THE PROBLEM.
I WAS DRIVING AT 55 MPH ON 5/9/2019 AND WINDSHIELD HIT BY SMALL INVISIBLE ROCK CHIP AND WINDSHIELD GOT CRACKS FROM LOWER TO MIDDLE AND STARTED SPREADING ALL OVER
WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY AT 55 MPH HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND DISCOVERED A LARGE CRACK IN MY WINDSHIELD. TOOK TO SUBARU DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED CRACKED WINDSHIELD AND HAD WINDSHIELD REPLACED AND "EYESIGHT" GUIDANCE RECALIBRATED AT A SUBSTANTIAL COST
THE SEATBELT IN THE BACKSEAT GETS TANGLED AND LOCKS IN AN UPPER POSITION MAKING THE SEATBELT INOPERABLE.I HAVE HAD THE CAR SEVEN MONTHS AND IT HAS HAPPENED 10 TIMES. I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER , THEY PULL THE STUCK BELT OUT FROM UNDER THE METAL ROLLER,BUT IT HAPPENS AGAIN AND AGAIN.*DT*JB
WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHEN VEHICLE WAS 6 WEEKS OLD
WINDSHIELD SHATTERED WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF PURCHASE DURING A DRIVE ON A COUNTY MAINTAINED DIRT ROAD GOING 30MPH. RECEIVED FIRST CHIP AFTER 3 DAYS OF USE ON AN INTERSTATE GOING 65MPH. AFTER LOOKING INTO COST FOR REPAIRS DISCOVERED THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH RECENT SUBARU VEHICLES INCLUDING A LAW SUIT IN CANADA AGAINST THE OUTBACK MODEL VEHICLES FOR SHATTERING GLASS. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE A WINDSHIELD ON A VEHICLE BEFORE AND NOW MUST DO SO WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF PURCHASING A BRAND NEW VEHICLE. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN, IF THE WINDSHIELDS ARE THIS THIN IT WILL NOT TAKE MUCH FORCE TO HAVE OBJECTS COME FLYING THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD.
BRAKES: THE CAR ACCELERATE WITHOUT ANY ACTION DURING DRIVING. WIPER: WIPER BLADE MAKE A NOISE LIKE ITS ABOUT TO FALL APART. SEAT BELT: SEAT BELT INSTALL IN A PLACE THAT( FRONT BOTH SEATS) THERE IS NO SPACE BETWEEN SEAT AND CAR BODY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD A SMALL PEBBLE HIT MY WINDSHIELD CAUSING IT THE CREATE A SMALL CRACK. I HAD TO GET IT FILLED SINCE TO REPLACE TO WINDSHIELD WOULD REQUIRE CALIBRATING THE EYE SIGHT SENORS. OTHER NORMAL DERBIES HAVE HIT MY CAR ON THE ROADS TO AND HAS CAUSED ALOT OF SCRATCHING ON THE WINDSHIELD. THE WINDSHIELD SEEMS TO BE VERY THIN OR NOT THAT STRONG. WHEN THINGS TO DO HIT THE WINDSHIELD I DON'T GET THE SAME FEELING OF SAFETY I DO IN OTHER CARS. I GET THE FEELING THE WINDSHIELD WONT HOLD UP TO ANYTHING SIGNIFICANT BASED ON HOW FRAGILE IT FEELS AND SOUNDS WHEN THINGS HIT IT.
WEATHER DISPLAY WON'T SHOW CITY WHERE I LIVE ( PHILADELPHIA) BUT WILL ONLY SHOW PRINCETON / TRENTON NJ. NO MATTER WHERE I DRIVE( DELAWARE) FOR EXAMPLE IT STILL SHOWS PRINCETON/TRENTON WEATHER. TOOK BACK TO DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES. THEY WIPED OUT ALL SETTINGS ECT. MORE THEN ONCE. SAID IT WAS A SIRIUS XM PROBLEM. THEY
FRONT WINDSHIELD HAS NUMEROUS ROCK CHIPS, QUALITY OF THE GLASS IS NOT UP TO PAR AND I'M AFRAID THAT CRACKS WILL START TO FORM SOON. PLEASE INVESTIGATE AS SUBARU NEEDS TO BE AWARE THAT THE CURRENT GLASS NEEDS TO BE REPLACED WITH A DURABLE GLASS AND BE ABLE TO RESIST EVERYDAY HITS FROM SMALL DEBRIS ON THE FREEWAY.
I PURCHASED MY 2019 SUBARU FORESTER ON 02/04/2019. SINCE THAT TIME, THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I'M HAVING TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD FOR WHAT SEEMS TO BE NO APPARENT REASON; MEANING I DIDN'T HEAR ROCKS STRIKING THE MY WINDSHIELD AS IS TYPICAL. I'VE OWNED APPROXIMATELY 8 VEHICLES PRIOR TO THIS AND I DON'T RECALL HAVING TO REPLACE A WINDSHIELD MORE THAN ONE TIME. ON BOTH OCCASIONS, I'VE GONE OUT TO MY VEHICLE TO DISCOVER THE CRACKS, NOT KNOWING HOW IT HAPPENED. I PURCHASED ADDITIONAL APPEARENCE & WINDSHIELD PROTECTION FOR THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR, ( CARPETS, INTERIOR FABRIC AND THE LEATHER SEATS) NOT INTENDING THE WINDSHIELD WOULD BE THE THING TO REQUIRE THE MOST REPAIRS SO FAR. AT THE RATE OF SO FAR, TWO REPAIRS PER YEAR, I'LL HAVE TO TAP INTO MY AUTO INSURANCE POLICY TO COMPLETE THE WINDSHIELD REPAIRS WHICH DEFEATS THE PURPOSE FOR PURCHASING THE EXTRA PROTECTION FROM SUBARU. THE FIRST REPAIR WAS DONE TWO MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE ON 04/23/19. THE SECOND REPAIR IS PENDING, I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT FOR SECOND WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT ON TUESDAY, 02/25/20.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED FROM A SMALL PEBBLE AFTER HAVING THE CAR FOR 5 DAYS. I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, TRAVELING LESS THAN 40 MPH WHEN A PEBBLE HIT THE DRIVER'S SIDE EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE WINDSHIELD SHOULD BE ABLE TO WITHSTAND PEBBLES BEING THROWN UP FROM THE ROAD. THIS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURER. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THIS WINDSHIELD CANNOT HANDLE DEBRIS HITTING IT. NO DIVOTS OR PITTING IN THE WINDSHIELD, JUST AN IMMEDIATE CRACK THAT GROWS. VERY DISAPPPOINTED WITH THIS VEHICLE'S WINDSHIELD.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED IN 2 PLACES 3 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR. STARTED AS A SMALL CHIP AND CRACK RAN ACROSS THE ENTIRE LENGTH OF WINDSHIELD. THEN ANOTHER CRACK APPEARED THE NEXT DAY RUNNING LENGTHWISE.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. WIFE HEARD A POP AND FOUND THAT THE WINDSHIELD HAD CRACKED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE.
ONE MONTH AFTER PURCHASING A BRAND NEW FORESTER OFF OF THE CAR LOT, OUT OF NO WHERE WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON AN EMPTY HIGHWAY, A 4 INCH HAIRLINE CRACK APPEARED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK ORIGINATED FROM THE OUTER EDGE OF THE GLASS. WHEN CONTACTING MY DEALERSHIP I WAS INFORMED THAT THE $1,000 REPAIR WILL NOT BE COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTY OR INSURANCE, EVEN THOUGH THERE WERE ONLY 800 MILES ON THE CAR AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT.
I PURCHASED MY 2019 SUBARU FORESTER SPORT ON FRIDAY, 4/19/19. ON SATURDAY, 4/20/19 I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE IN THE RIGHT LANE WITH A PICKUP TRUCK PULLING A TRAILER AHEAD AND IN THE LANE TO MY LEFT. I DID NOT SEE ANYTHING, BUT HEARD A CRACK AND MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED FROM THE TOP JUST A FEW INCHES FROM CENTER TOWARD THE PASSENGER SIDE DOWN TOWARDS THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD. UPON INSPECTION OF THE WINDSHIELD IT APPEARED THAT A SMALL ROCK MAY HAVE HIT THE WINDSHIELD NEAR THE TOP IN THE SECTION OF THE WINDSHIELD WHICH IS BLACK. THE DEALER STATED IT WAS HIT BY SOMETHING AND THEREFORE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I FILED A CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE AND PAID THE DEDUCTIBLE TO HAVE THE DEALER REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD. I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE MONDAY, 5/6/19 AFTER HAVING THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED. ON WEDNESDAY, 5/8/19 WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN AT APPROXIMATELY 35MPH WITH NOBODY IN FRONT OF ME, THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED FROM THE BOTTOM RIGHT HAND CORNER UP TOWARDS THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO COULD NOT FIND ANY IMPACT DAMAGE CAUSING THE CRACK. THEY AGREED TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD AT NO CHARGE TO ME. I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE ON TUESDAY 5/14/19 AFTER THE SECOND WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT. AS OF TODAY, THURSDAY 5/16/19 THE WINDSHIELD DOES NOT HAVE ANY DAMAGE, ALTHOUGH WITH HAVING TWO WINDSHIELDS REPLACED WITHIN LESS THAN ONE MONTH OF OWNERSHIP, IT APPEARS THERE IS SOME SORT OF PROBLEM WITH THE MANUFACTURING AND/OR DESIGN OF THE SUBARU VEHICLES AND/OR WINDSHIELDS.
HAD CAR ONLY THREE MONTHS. NOW IN ADDITION TO A CHIP THERE IS A GIGANTIC CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD THAT WILL REQUIRE AN EXPENSIVE OEM REPLACEMENT.
MY 2019 SUBARU FORESTER EXPERIENCE A TINY CHIP ON THE WINDSHIELD FROM DEBRIS THAT WAS INITIALLY HARDILY NOTICEABLE UNTIL THE WINDSHIELD CHIP BEGAN TO GROW AND CRACK.
WINDSHIELD IS WEAK AND CRACKS VERY EASILY. HAVE HAD IT REPLACED AND FIVE DAYS LATER IT NEEDS REPLACING AGAIN DUE TO CRACK. BOTH TIMES FROM A SMALL ROCK HITTING THE WINDSHIELD ON THE HIGHWAY.
PURCHASED NEW IN OCT. 2018. WAS ABSOLUTELY SURPRISED JUST HOW EASY EVERY LITTLE TINY BIT OF SALT OR NORMAL DEBRIS FROM WINTER DRIVING CHIPS THE WINDSHIELD (PAVED, INTERSTATE). BY THE END OF THE WINTER, I HAD NEAR AS MANY PITS IN THIS SUBARU WINDSHIELD WITH 10,500 MILES ON THE FORESTER AS MY PICKUP WHICH HAS 200,000 MILES ON IT. THEN IN APRIL 2019, I'M DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE, A SMALL ROCK GETS THROWN AT ME, AND THE WINDSHIELD SHATTERS! IT WASN'T A HARD HIT, AND IT WASN'T THAT BIG. (I SAY THIS BASED ON SOUND. USUALLY WHEN A WINDSHIELD SHATTERS, THE NOISE IS SO INTENSE IT'LL MAKE YOU JUMP!) THEN TO TOP IT ALL OFF, THEY HAVE THE NERVE TO TELL YOU IT COSTS $1,200 TO REPLACE! OBVIOUSLY I HAVE NO CHOICE, THE CRACK IS RIGHT IN THE WORST SPOT POSSIBLE FOR VISIBILITY. I CANNOT SAFELY DRIVE THE CAR DUE TO MY HEIGHT AND THE WHERE THE CRACK WENT AS IT CREATED A DOUBLE VISION ISSUE. I GO AHEAD AND SCHEDULE THE REPLACEMENT, BUT THE DEALER TELLS ME ITS ON BACK ORDER. IT TAKES THEM 17 DAYS TO GET ME A NEW WINDSHIELD, DURING WHICH TIME I CANT REALLY DRIVE THE CAR. I DID NOT GET THIRD PARTY REPLACEMENT GLASS, I GOT AN OEM WINDSHIELD ORDERED THRU THE DEALER THE CAR WAS PURCHASED FROM. NOW OCT. 2019 I HAVE 18,300 MILES ON THE CAR, AND WHILE SUMMER DRIVING HAS BEEN LESS HARD ON THE WINDSHIELD, THE NEW ONE SEEMS TO PIT EASILY/OFTEN AS WELL.
THE WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CHIPPED WHEN DRIVING AT THE SPEED LIMIT (35MPH).
WENT OVER A SET OF TRAIN TRACKS AND THE NEXT DAY MY WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED. REPLACED WINSHIELD
CRACKED WINDSHIELD THAT I HAD A FIX DONE BUT CRACK SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE.
DRIVING ON A 3 HOUR DRIVE HOME GOING 65MPH I GOT SMALL ROCKS HIT THE WINDSHIELD AT TWO DIFFERENT TIMES AND IMMEDIATELY CRACKED THE WINDSHIELD. I WAS GOING 45MPH ON ONE AND 65MPH ON THE OTHER. SEEMS TO BE A BAD DESIGN OR JUST BAD WINDSHIELDS.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE PARKED 3 WEEKS AFTER O BOUGHT IT. SUBARU REFUSED RESPONSIBILITY, SO I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT AND RECALIBRATION.
DEFECTIVE WINDSHIELD. SMALL ROCK CRACKED THE WINDSHIELD TO HALF
WIFE WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND HIT A VERY SMALL PEBBLE ABOUT THE SIZE OF A SKITTLE AND THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED AND NEEDS A FULL REPLACEMENT.
WHEN DRIVING ON THE LOCAL ROAD, I HEARD A LOUD SNAP FROM MY WINDSHIELD BUT FORGOT ABOUT THAT WHEN I GOT HOME. THE NEXT MORNING I NOTICED A CRACK AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD GLASS. TODAY THAT CRACK EXTENDED BY SEVERAL INCHES. ACCORDING TO SUBARU DEALERSHIP, THERE IS A VERY LONG BACK ORDER FOR 2019 SUBARU FORESTER WINDSHIELDS.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY
THE FORESTER ARRIVED TO US FROM THE DEALERSHIP WITH A CRACKED WINDSHIELD. IT WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALERSHIP. THE REPLACEMENT WAS CRACKED WITHIN A DAY OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THERE SEEMS TO BE AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THE 2019 SUBARU FORESTER WINDSHIELDS. BOTH TIMES OF INCIDENT THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY AND WAS IMPACTED BY A VERY SMALL ROCK - YET THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD BECAME DAMAGED.
I LEASED THIS CAR LATE MARCH 2019 AND FROM DAY ONE I SMELLED A GASOLINE LIKE ODOR WHEN TURNING ON THE CAR FOR THE FIRST 5 TO 10 MIN. I'VE HAD BMW FORN10 YEARS AND SUBARU IS NEW TO ME. I THOUGHT THE SMELL WAS NORMAL BECAUSE IT'S A 4WD. AT MY LAST VEHICLE SERVICE AT SUBARU I MENTIONED THE SMELL TO THEM. THEY ULTIMATELY DISCOVERED THAT THE CAR HAS A FAULTY EXHAUST. THEY SAID THE SMELL CAME FROM A PLASTIC BAG THAT THEY FOUND INSIDE THE HOOD OF THE CAR. HOWEVER, MY BROTHER IN LAW HAD OPENED THE HOOD 2 WEEKS PRIOR TO CHECK THE OIL LEVEL OF CAR BC OF A SOUND IT WAS MAKING AND THERE WAS NO PLASTIC BAG AT THAT TIME. I AM GOING TO HAVE THE EXHAUST REPLACED THIS SATURDAY BUT I WANTED TO REPORT THIS JUST IN CASE THERE ARE MORE CARS THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS.
I PURCHASED MY 2019 FORESTER NEW. AFTER 3,500 MILES THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED. I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND NOTICED THE CRACK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD AND QUICKLY SPREADING ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, I DIDN'T HEAR ANYTHING ACTUALLY HIT THE WINDSHIELD. I HAD IT REPLACED WITH ANOTHER SUBARU MANUFACTURED WINDSHIELD JUST AFTER HAVING THE CAR FOR 3 MONTHS. LAST WEEK, A SMALL PEBBLE HIT THE WINDSHIELD WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE ENTRANCE RAMP TO I95. THE CRACK SPREAD QUICKLY ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD AND I NOW NEED TO REPLACE A SECOND WINDSHIELD, WHICH IS ONLY 4 MONTHS OLD. WHILE INSURANCE HAS PAID FOR MOST OF THE REPLACEMENT, MY DEDUCTIBLE WAS $500 FOR EACH WINDSHIELD. ANY SAVINGS REALIZED FOR PURCHASING A FUEL EFFICIENT VEHICLE HAS BEEN ERASED WITH THESE UNNECESSARY REPAIRS.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2019 SUBARU FORESTER ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN A CAR STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME. I ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE, BUT DID END UP REAR ENDING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, WHICH PUSHED HER INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF HER. THE IMPACT WAS AT LEAST 30-35 MPH AND THE CAR IS TOTALED. AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY.*JB
IN OUR 2 WEEK OLD 2019 FORESTER, WE WERE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 65MPH AND FELT A SUDDEN JOLT AND THE CAR SHUT OFF: THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD WENT OFF, THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OFF, THE TURN SIGNALS WOULD NOT WORK AND THE ACCELERATOR WASN'T WORKING. WE GUIDED THE CAR OFF THE FREEWAY AND SAT ON THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY. THE DEALER'S MASTER MECHANIC CANNOT FIND ANY CODE THAT TELLS THEM WHAT IS WRONG SO THEY TELL US THERE IS NOTHING TO FIX. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS. THIS WAS A LIFE-THREATENING EVENT SO WE DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE CAR FOR OURSELVES AND OTHER CARS ON THE FREEWAY. SUBARU IS NOT TAKING THIS SERIOUSLY. WE READ THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER "CAR STALL" PROBLEMS SIMILAR TO OURS WITH FORESTERS FROM OTHER YEARS.
MY 2019 SUBARU FORESTER IS NOW ON ITS SECOND FRONT WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT. IN EACH CASE, I ASSUME THERE WAS IMPACT FROM A SMALL ROCK DUE TO THE VERY TINY CHIP IN-LINE WITH THE EVENTUAL CRACK. NEITHER IMPACT STARTED AS ANYTHING BIG JUDGING BY THE SIZE OF THE TINY PIT AND THE FACT THE CRACKS DEVELOPED DAYS AFTERWARDS, THE FIRST DURING CITY DRIVING AND ON THE SECOND INCIDENT, WHILE THE CAR WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE. I HAVE TAKEN PREVIOUS SMALL PROJECTILE IMPACTS ON THE INTERSTATE WITH OTHER CAR MAKES OWNED AND NEVER HAD TO REPLACE WINDSHIELDS DUE TO SIMILAR INCIDENTS ALTHOUGH NOW I AM ON THE SECOND WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT ON A SUBARU OWNED LESS THAN A YEAR. I HAD A 2003 SUBARU FORESTER AND A 2012 SUBARU IMPREZA AND ONLY REPLACED ONE WINDSHIELD IN THE 25 YRS COMBINED THAT I OWNED THOSE CARS.
TWO WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING MY CAR, THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED, I TOOK IT TO GET FIXED 3 TIMES AND IT WOULD CONTINUE TO CRACK. I KNOW HOW MY WHOLE WINDSHIELD CRACKED SELL SIDE TO SIDE.
TWICE WE WERE STRANDED AFTER TRYING TO USE THE CAR IN THE MORNING AND IT WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. THERE WAS NO WARNING THE NIGHT BEFORE. WE'VE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY - AT 20,000 MILES! GETTING ROAD SERVICE WAS VERY DIFFICULT, SINCE THE CAR IS HARD TO REACH IN A GARAGE ON A HILL. ANOTHER TIME MY WIFE DROVE 15 MILES WITH A CONSTANT BEEPING DUE TO THE REAR GATE LATCH NOT CLOSING PROPERLY. WE HAVE RESET THE THING DOZENS OF TIMES.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, THERE WERE SOME BUMPS ON THE ROAD AND SUDDENLY A CRACKLING NOISE AND A VERTICAL CRACK DEVELOPED ON THE DRIVER SIDE WINDSHIELD. THE CRACKED RUN FROM THE UPPER RIGHT CORNER TOWARDS THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHILED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU FORESTER. WHILE TURNING THE VEHICLE, THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHUT OFF, INCLUDING THE POWER STEERING AND EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM. THE CONTACT WAS ALMOST INVOLVED IN A CRASH DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER, SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, BUT THE ELECTRICAL FAILURES REMAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS SLOWLY DRIVEN BACK TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. ST. CLOUD SUBARU (141 PARK AVE S, ST CLOUD, MN 56301) STATED THAT WATER MAY HAVE CONTACTED THE WIRING UNDER THE HOOD AND CAUSED THE MALFUNCTION. THE CONTACT WAS WORKING ON HAVING THE VEHICLE TOWED AND RECEIVING A LOANER VEHICLE FROM THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED VIA EMAIL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,500.
SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, MY WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A SMALL CRACK. STARTED IN THE LOWER LEFT DRIVERS SIDE AND QUICKLY SPREAD TO THE IMPAIR MY VISIBILITY. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER IN YAKIMA WA, AND THE INSPECTOR SAID IT WAS A ROCK. WHICH I KNOW IT WASN'T AS I WOULD'VE NOTICED SUCH AN EVENT, THERE WAS NOT AN IMPACT WHICH I'VE WITNESS PLENTY OF, AND AM VERY PROTECTIVE OF MY VEHICLES. THEY SAID THEY WOULDN'T COVER IT. I HAD TO TAKE IT TO SAFELIGHT REPAIRS IN YAKIMA WASHINGTON TO HAVE IT REPLACED WHICH TOOK TWO MONTHS TO GET THE NEW WINDSHIELD IN AS THEY WAS A SHORTAGE WHICH WAS EXPLAINED TO ME. THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED ON 03MAY2019. I HAVE THE RECEIPT FOR THIS REPLACEMENT AND STILL OWN THE VEHICLE.
WHILE DRIVING A SLIGHT NOISE WAS HEARD FOLLOWED BY THE APPEARANCE OF A HORIZONTAL CRACK WHICH SPREAD TO APPROXIMATELY 15". VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A US HIGHWAY. BOTH SAFELITE AND THE LOCAL SUBARU DEALER HAVE ADVISED THAT REPLACEMENT GLASS IS ON HOLD / NATIONAL BACKORDER. IT HAS BEEN BROKEN AND THERE IS NO ESTIMATE OF WHEN OR IF IT CAN BE REPAIRED.
600 MILES ON NEW CAR. I WAS DRIVING ON LOCAL STREET LESS THAN 45MPH AND A SMALL PEBBLE KICKED UP AND CHIPPED MY WINDSHIELD. THIS SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED SO EASILY BECAUSE I'VE HAD CARS FOR YEARS AND NEVER EXPERIENCED A WINDSHIELD CHIP SO EASILY. THE INTERNET IS FULL OF NEW FORESTER WINDSHIELD COMPLAINTS.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE EXPRESSWAY AND STONE HIT MY WINDSHIELD, CAUSING IT TO CRACK.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED ON NEW 2019 SUBARU FORESTER. CAR WAS MOVING AND HIT BY A STONE WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. CHIP GREW HORIZONTALLY ACROSS THE LINE OF SIGHT. NOW I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT THERE IS A NATIONAL BACK ORDER ON WINDSHIELDS FOR THIS MODEL. THIS HAS CREATED A SAFETY ISSUE, A LEGAL ISSUE, AND A CONVENIENCE ISSUE. AFTER CHECKING ON LINE I SEE WHERE THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE WITH A SIMILAR PROBLEM. THE CARS SHOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR SALE IF THERE ARE NO REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR SOMETHING AS BASIC AS A WINDSHIELD. THIS "SINGLE POINT OF FAILURE" IS MAKING THE VEHICLE UNDRIVABLE.
THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE PARKED IN A PARKING LOT. IT HAS SPREAD TO THE MAJORITY OF THE DRIVES SIDE.
DROVE THE VEHICLE IN THE MORNING (HEAT ON HIGH). PARKED IT IN A PRIVATE LOT FOR ABOUT 5 HRS. THERE WAS LIGHT SNOW/ICE THAT DAY. I GOT OUT TO DRIVE AND SEE A HUGE CRACK ON THE WINDSHIELD SPANNING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE THROUGH TO THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD. THERE WERE PREVIOUSLY NO DISCERNABLE NICKS ON THE WINDSHIELD. CONTACTED SUBARU, ALL FORESTER WINDSHIELDS ARE BACKORDERED. SOME ON THE FORESTER FORUMS HAVE WAITED OVER A MONTH FOR THEIR WINDSHIELD. MINE WILL SUPPOSEDLY TAKE AT LEAST 3 WEEKS. NOT ACCEPTABLE TO BE DRIVING WITH A DEFECTIVE AND ALREADY CRACKED WINDSHIELD. SUBARU IS AWARE OF THEIR WINDSHIELD ISSUE BUT THERE IS NO RECALL AS OF YET.
CRACKED WINDSHIELD AFTER DRIVING ONLY 1500 MILES. WE WERE DRIVING WITH NO OTHER CARS ON THE ROAD WHEN WE HEARD IT CRACK.
I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND A CRACK APPEARED SPONTANEOUSLY IN THE WINDSHIELD STARTING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD CLOSE TO THE WIPER. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO OBTAIN A REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELD DUE TO BACKORDER AND UNAVAILABILITY OF SUBARU WINDSHIELDS FOR THIS VEHICLE. I AM UNABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR DUE TO THE CONDITION OF THE WINDSHIELD. I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYMENTS FOR A CAR THAT I CANNOT DRIVE BECAUSE SUBARU DOES NOT HAVE THE NECESSARY REPLACEMENT PART. I HAVE REQUESTED A SUBSTITUTION OF COLLATERAL FOR THIS REASON AND AM WAITING TO HEAR FROM SUBARU. ACCORDING TO VARIOUS FORUMS THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL SUBARU. IS THE PART UNAVAILABLE BECAUSE SO MANY WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENTS ARE NEEDED?

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LITHIA RENO SUBARU (LOCATED AT 2270 KIETZKE LN, RENO, NV 89502, (775) 800-5534) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT NO FAILURE WAS DETECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000.
APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH AFTER PURCHASING A BRAND NEW SUBARU FORRESTER 2019 TOURING VEHICLE DIRECTLY FROM SUBARU, THE WINDSHIELD SUFFERED A CRACK. ON FEBRUARY 24, 2019, I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON A HIGHWAY IN CALIFORNIA WHEN A SMALL ROCK HIT THE WINDSHIELD AND CREATED A SMALL DENT WHICH THEN SPLINTERED INTO A CRACK THAT SPREAD FURTHER AND FURTHER THROUGHOUT THE WINDSHIELD. MY INSURANCE COMPANY DETERMINED THAT WINDSHIELD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I USED A LOCAL COMPANY TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD WITH A BRAND NEW WINDSHIELD FROM SUBARU AND THEN I HAD SUBARU RECALIBRATE THE EYESIGHT CAMERA. MY INSURANCE DEDUCTIBLE LIMITED THE TOTAL COST FOR THIS REPAIR AND RECALIBRATION. APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR LATER, ON FEBRUARY 16, 2020, ONCE AGAIN, WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY IN CALIFORNIA, SMALL ROCKS HIT THE WINDSHIELD AND CREATED TWO SMALL DENTS (EACH SMALLER IN SIZE THAN A QUARTER). FORTUNATELY, THESE DENTS DID NOT SPLINTER INTO CRACKS BUT THEY BOTH NEEDED TO BE FILLED. THE COST WAS COVERED FOR THIS OUT OF POCKET. I AM NOT CERTAIN BUT MY BEST ASSESSMENT IS THAT SUBARU'S WINDSHIELD FOR THE 2019 FORRESTER MAY BE DEFECTIVE. IN NEITHER CASE WAS I SPEEDING, NOR WERE THE ROCKS THAT HIT THE WINDSHIELD LARGE. THE ATTACHED DOCUMENT INCLUDES THE COST OF WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT, EYESIGHT RECALIBRATION, AND DENT FILLINGS.
