TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 SUBARU LEGACY. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V009000 (AIR BAGS). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. GLENWOOD SPRINGS SUBARU (175 STORM KING RD, GLENWOOD SPRINGS, CO 81601, (970) 945-7447) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL TWELVE WEEKS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
TORQUE CONVERTER ISSUES BEGAN AT 104,000 MILES, BUT I WAS NOT ABLE TO GET IT INTO SUBARU TO LOOK AT UNTIL 108,000. I AM NOW BEING TOLD THAT I NEED TO PAY FOR THE TORQUE CONVERTER REPLACEMENT. THERE ARE KNOWN ISSUES WITH THE TORQUE CONVERTER AFFECTING DRIVER SAFETY. MY VEHICLE WOULD SHUT OFF WHEN COMING TO A STOP, AND ACTUALLY SHUT OFF AS I CAME TO A STOP TO CROSS TRAFFIC TO ENTER A SHOPPING CENTER. MULTIPLE TIMES MY VEHICLE SHUT OFF AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS AND STOP SIGNS. MY VEHICLE EVEN SHUT OFF WHEN I HAD TO SLOW DOWN FOR A CAR THAT PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME. THE DELAY IN ME HAVING TO RESTART MY CAR NEARLY RESULTED IN THE VEHICLES COMING UP BEHIND RUNNING INTO ME DUE TO MY CAR BEING DISABLED IN TRAFFIC. ISSUES ARE RESULTING IN NEAR COLLISIONS WITH THE AFFECTED VEHICLE. BASED ON MY CAR BEING SLIGHTLY OVER THE 100K MILES I MUST PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THE REPAIR. SUBARU HAS NOT ADDRESSED THE TORQUE CONVERTER KNOWN ISSUE IN A WAY TO PROTECT DRIVER SAFETY.
VERY ROUTINELY WHEN COMING TO A STOP FROM THE CAR MOVING WHEN YOU DECREASE YOUR SPEED WHEN STOPPING FOR A LIGHT, TRAFFIC, OR ANYTHING THAT WOULD REQUIRE A QUICK STOP, THE CAR WILL STALL OUT AS YOUR SPEED IS LESS THAN 10-20 MPH AND YOU LOOSE CONTROL OF THE STEERING, BRAKES. ECT. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY SUBARU IMMEDIATELY. THIS CAN OCCUR ON ANY STREET, HIGHWAY AND WILL DO THIS WHILE TURNING AS WELL. THIS HAPPENS DAILY IN MY COMMUTE AND IS A DANGER TO MYSELF AND OTHERS. IT OCCURS WHEN COMING TO A STOP FROM A MOVING POSITION.

THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
JUST HAD CAR 120,000 SERVICE DONE EARLY AT AROUND 119000 SO MY 2011 CAR HAD JUST BEEN GONE OVER THOROUGHLY. I AM VERY GOOD ABOUT HAVING MAJOR SERVICES DONE BY AUTHORIZED DEALERS TOO. THIS PARTICULAR CAR HAD PREVIOUSLY SHUDDERED WHEN BRAKING ON OFF RAMPS FOR WHICH I WOULD SHIFT CAR INTO NEUTRAL SINCE IT FELT AS IF CAR TRANSMISSION WAS BINDING SIMILAR TO HOW AN OLDER NON SLIP 4 WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM WOULD "CRAB" AROUND TURNS. I HAD ASKED ABOUT THIS A NUMBER OF TIMES BETWEEN 60K-120K. HOWEVER, NOW MY CAR WAS STALLING WHENEVER I CAME TO A QUICK STOP. TOOK IT BACK TO DEALER WITHIN A WEEK. TORQUE CONVERTER. I LOOKED INTO THIS AND SEE NUMEROUS PEOPLE HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THIS TRANSMISSION AND THIS POWER TRAIN. IT APPEARS THE MANUFACTURER HAS ONLY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY. HAVE ANY DEATHS OCCURRED DUE TO THIS ISSUE? SHIFTING INTO NEUTRAL TO AVOID BUCKING OR ENGINE STOPS ON OFF RAMPS, OR GETTING HIT BECAUSE YOU ARE STATIONARY OR STALLED IN A ROADWAY AFTER BRAKING ARE ISSUES. I AM LUCKY I HAD ENOUGH MONEY TO FIX. THERE APPEAR TO BE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT IT. I ACTUALLY, BECAUSE I AM AN OLDER (NOT ELDERLY) AND MORE EXPERIENCED DRIVER, DID NOT HAVE ANY ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS ISSUE. BUT, I COULD SEE THIS BEING A ISSUE FOR A YOUNGER DRIVER THAT COULD RESULT IN A REAL PROBLEM ACCIDENT OR DEATH IF THEY HAVE TO FUMBLE TO TAKE THE CAR OUT OF DRIVE TO PREVENT BUCKING OR STALLING. I HAD DECIDED TO INVEST AND MAINTAIN THIS CAR FOR MY 15 YEAR OLD, SOON TO DRIVE, DAUGHTER. HOWEVER AND BECAUSE OF THIS ONE ISSUE, I NOW KNOW IT IS A UNSAFE VEHICLE IF IT CAN THROW A CURVE-BALL AT A YOUNG DRIVER BY STALLING WHEN BRAKING QUICKLY OR IN A PANIC BRAKING SITUATION. HAVING TO SHIFT OUT OF GEAR WHILE STILL MOVING TO STOP OFF RAMP BUCKING OR STALLING IN BRAKING SITUTATION SEEM LIKE THEY COULD LEAD TO ACCIDENTS, DEATHS OR UNCONFIRMED DEATHS DUE TO THIS PROBLEMATIC TORQUE CONVERTER?

WHEN CAR IS COMING UP TO A STOP SIGN IT STALLS AND DIES ON ME AND I HAVE TO PUT IT IN PARK AND START IT BACK UP. I HAD A TIME WHERE IT IDLED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO DIE AND DIDN'T BUT IT DOES THIS 4 TO 8 TIMES A DAY. NOT SURE WHAT IS GOING ON BUT I ALMOST GOT HIT BY A SEMI TRUCK DUE TO IT STALLING. PLEASE HELP THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED IT IS NOT SAFE ESPECIALLY WHEN I HAVE SMALL CHILDREN IN MY CAR . I NEED ANSWERS.
VEHICLE STALLS WHEN IT COMES TO A STOP DUE TO TORQUE CONVERTER MALFUNCTION COMPANY WON'T ISSUE RECALL
MY 2011 SUBARU LEGACY HAS SUDDENLY BEEN EXPERIENCING TERRIFYING SHUDDERING AND STALLS WHEN I COME TO A STOP TOO ABRUPTLY. IN MY CASE MY VEHICLE STALLED AT A STOP LIGHT ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS DUE TO A FAULTY TORQUE CONVERTER THAT HAS AFFECTED 1.5 MILLION OTHER SUBARU OWNERS. SUBARU HAS NOT ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE AS A RECALL. I FEEL UNSAFE IN MY CAR.
ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE. THIS RECALL HAS BEEN OUT SINCE SEPTEMBER AND STILL HAVE NO REMEDY TO BE FIXED. THIS IS EXTREMELY INEXCUSABLE BECAUSE THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND KNOWING IT CAN DISENGAGE ONE IT'S OWN.
MY CAR HESITATES AND TURNS OFF SOMETIMES WHEN SLOWING DOWN AT A STOP OR RED LIGHT, RPMS FLUCTUATE AS I BRAKE OR ACCELERATE, MY BRAKE LIGHT IS ON SOLID AND I GET A AT OIL TEMP LIGHT FLASHING AND THEN I CAN'T USE MY PADDLESHIFTERS AT ALL, CAR SOUNDS HIGHLY REV'D BUT DOESN'T GO AS FAST! PLEASE HELP AS THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD, I DRIVE ON CALIFORNIA FREEWAYS EVERYDAY AND THIS IS A DANGER TO MY FAMILY WHEN COMMUTING.
ENGINE SHUDDERS AND STALLS WHILE BREAKING DUE TO TORQUE CONVERTER/TRANSMISSION ISSUES WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE! SUBARU REFUSE TO REPAIR MY CAR SAYING THAT I HAD JUST MISSED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PERIOD THAT THEY TOLD NO ONE ABOUT.
RECALL #WTV81 10-12 LEG&OUT EPB ACTR ASSY REPLACE STATUS: REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE. THIS RECALL HAS BEEN OUT SINCE SEPTEMBER AND STILL HAVE NO IDEA WHEN IT WILL BE FIXED.
CAR BEGAN CUTTING OFF WHEN STOPPING (CAR STOPS THEN SHUTS OFF, DASHBOARD LIGHTS COME ON, WILL RESTART AFTER PUTTING GEAR SHIFT IN PARK AND TURNING IGNITION) SUCH AS IN TRAFFIC, AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS, STOP SIGNS, WHEN STOPPING TO MAKE A TURN. FIRST OCCURRED ON AN 8 LANE WIDE OVERPASS. THEN, HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY FOR NEXT TWO DAYS, NOT WITH EVERY STOP BUT ABOUT HALF THE TIME, SEEMED MORE LIKELY TO OCCUR WITH A 'HARD' OR SUDDEN STOP. A SAFETY HAZARD IN MY OPINION BECAUSE, ESPECIALLY IN TRAFFIC, SOMEONE COULD RUN INTO YOU WHILE YOU ARE TRYING TO RE-START THE CAR. SUBARU OF AMERICA ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY (10YR OR 100K MILES) WHICH I RECEIVED LETTER ABOUT IN JULY 2017. MY CAR'S CVT TORQUE CONVERTER WAS REPLACED UNDER THIS WARRANTY AFTER FIRST BEING MISDIAGNOSED BY DEALER AS A DIRTY THROTTLE BODY. MY CAR HAS 96K MILES ON IT. FROM READING ONLINE, THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT HAS OCCURRED FREQUENTLY WITH CERTAIN YEAR SUBARU MODELS AND MAKES. NOT SURE IF OTHER MAKES HAVE THIS PROBLEM.
I PURCHASED MY 2011 SUBARU LEGACY 2.5I LIMITED IN APRIL 2018 WITH 99,110 MILES. IT WAS DRIVING FINE UNTIL ABOUT 104,000 MILES WHEN THERE STARTED TO BE SOME STALLING AND SLIPPING PROBLEMS. I HAD A P2096 CODE AND ASSUMED IT WAS A VACUUM OR BRAKE BOOSTER LEAK. I HAD BAD SHAKING COMING FROM AROUND THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND STALLING AT STOP LIGHTS. BY THE TIME MY MECHANIC AND I WERE ABLE TO REALIZE IT WAS A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM I HAD ALREADY MISSED THE WINDOW FOR SUBARU'S EXTENDED POWERTRAIN WARRANTY ON MY VEHICLE. I NEVER RECEIVED A NOTICE OF THE RECALL. I HAVE A CVT TRANSMISSION THAT SUBARU CLAIMS NEVER HAS TO BE SERVICED, BUT NOW I AM STUCK WITH A FAILING TRANSMISSION ON A CAR WITH ONLY 106,000 MILES WITH ALL REGULAR MAINTENANCE DONE. MY CAR WILL STALL OF OR SLIP IN THE TRANSMISSION WHEN TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE OR WHILE BREAKING AT STOPLIGHTS AND ONCE CAUSED ME TO REAR END ANOTHER VEHICLE IN HICKORY, NC BECAUSE MY TRANSMISSION SLIPPED WHILE COMING TO A STOP AT A STOP LIGHT. NOBODY WAS INJURED, BUT IT MADE ME FEAR FOR MY SAFETY IN MY CAR.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL OR WARRANTY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
I PURCHASED A USED 2011 SUBARU IN 2014. THE HEADLIGHTS SEEM TO BLOW EVERY 3 MONTHS AT MOST. I REPLACED THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT IN NOVEMBER. THE DRIVER SIDE THEN BLEW IN DECEMBER AND NOW, IT IS FEBRUARY AND MY PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT IS BLOWN AGAIN! THIS IS JUST INSANE AND VERY ANNOYING FOR A COMMUTER THAT DRIVES OVER AN HOUR ONE WAY TO WORK AND THEN OVER AN HOUR AGAIN HOME FROM WORK IN THE DARK ON BACK ROADS WITHOUT LIGHTS.

THE FRONT DRIVER'S AIR BAG DEPLOYED AND PINNED HIS HEAD BETWEEN THE DRIVER'S WINDOW AND AIR BAG. THE OCCUPANT SUSTAINED A KNOT ON HIS HEAD, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED WITH NASHVILLE METRO POLICE (#2017-1079256). THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HILLWOOD WRECKER SERVICE AND DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
NO AIRBAG PROTECTION, AIRBAG FAIL INDICATOR ON - DEALER ANTICIPATES $1500 REPAIR. NO ACCIDENTS, NEVER FLOOD DAMAGE. AND SUBARU'S SELLING POINT IS SAFETY AT AS PRIME DIRECTIVE!.
TAKATA RECALL NO PROBLEM YET, BUT RECEIVED A CARD IN MAIL REQUIRING REGISTRATION RE BANKRUPTCY TO PROTECT MY RIGHTS!
COMING INTO A FOUR WAY INTERSECTION THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOOR NO BRAKES. SOME SUBARU LEGACY MASTER CYCLINDERS ARE BEING RECALLED FOR THE SAME DEFECT. MINE IS NOT IN THE RECALL. NO ONE WAS HURT NO DAMAGE. HAD IT REPAIRED AND I HAVE THE MASTER CYLINDER. AJ000 IS THE PART NUMBER.
CAR STALLS AND DIES WHILE STOPPING DUE TO FAULTY TORQUE CONVERTER. COULD BECOME A SAFETY ISSUE IF THE CAR WERE TO STALL IN AN INTERSECTION. THIS A FREQUENT PROBLEM WE'RE DEALING WITH DAILY. THE CAR WILL ALWAYS DIES WHEN STOPPING ABRUPTLY.
WHILE DRIVING ON A ROAD MY CAR WILL LOOSE POWER, ATTEMPT TO STALL, RPM'S DECREASE DURING HARD BRAKING SITUATIONS

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER (THE MOTOR COMPANY, W 1680 US-41, MARINETTE, WI 54143, (715) 735-7474) WHO PROVIDED AN ALIGNMENT, BUT THE CONDITION CONTINUED TO PROGRESS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED NO SOLUTION. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000.
1ST TIME -02/02/2017 LEAKING INTO PASSENGER AREA ABOVE REAR VIEW MIRROR; FLOODED DRIVER'S FOOT AREA. DEALER DRAINED THE MOON ROOF. 2ND TIME - 05/05/2017LEAKING INTO REAR SEAT FOOT AREA FROM BELOW THE CARPETING ON RHS. VERY LARGE PUDDLE; AFTER 2 DAYS STILL VERY LARGE PUDDLE. UNDER THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT THERE IS A METAL RECTANGULAR BOX CONTAINING ???? THIS IS THE AREA THAT IS AFFECTED BY THE EXCESSIVE WETNESS PROBLEM. IF THIS A COMPUTER COMPONENTS BOX OR A HEATING ELEMENT BOX, PEOPLE SITTING IN EITHER THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT OR THE IMMEDIATE REAR SEAT COULD BE AT RISK FOR ELECTRICALLY CAUSED INJURY.
THE TORQUE CONVERTER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW 6 YEARS AGO. IT STALLED WITHIN THE FIRST FEW MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP IT STALLED AT A STOP LIGHT TWICE. WE WERE STOOD THE GAS CAPE NEEDED TO BE PUT ON TIGHTER AND IT WAS A SENSOR ISSUE. NOW 122 THOUSAND MILES LATER IT HAS STARTED DOING THE SAME THING AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT IS THE TORQUE CONVERTER. DEALERSHIP WANTS 1700 DOLLARS. I FOUND A BULLETIN. DATED 2014 THAT SAYS THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW AND SUBARU IS RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIR.
MY TORQUE CONVERTER IS LOCKING UP UNDER BREAKING/COMING TO A STOP AND THE ENGINE SHUTTERS AND SHUTS DOWN. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, THE PROBLEM OCCURS UPON STOPPING OR SLOWING DOWN RAPIDLY TO A SLOW CRAWL (I.E. LESS THAN 5 MPH). THIS ISSUE IS VERY REPEATABLE AND CAUSES DELAY IF YOU ARE TRYING TO MOVE OUT OF THE WAY OF ONCOMING VEHICLES OR EMERGENCY VEHICLES IN THE CASE OF A HIGHWAY BACKUP, ETC. I HAVE READ FORUMS WHERE SEVERAL OTHER SUBARU OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. SUBARU ACKNOWLEDGES THE PROBLEM IN TSB 16-90-13R BUT FROM MY RESEARCH THEY ARE CHARGING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR THE REPAIR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH A FAULTY COMPONENT THAT MUST BE RECALLED, NOT VOLUNTARILY REPAIRED. THIS IS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT SINCE MANY SUBARU OWNERS ARE PROBABLY NOT YET AWARE OF THE PROBLEM.
STEERING WHEEL REMOTE RADIO VOLUME CONTROL INTERMITTENT TO NON-OPERATIONAL. PROBLEM BEGAN WHILE PARKED AND RUNNING AFTER ADJUSTING STEERING WHEEL TO FULL LENGTH POSITION (CLOSER TO DRIVER).
WHILE IN MOTION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND WHEN ATTEMPTING TO UTILIZE THE COAST FUNCTION ON THE CRUISE CONTROL TO TEMPORARILY DISENGAGE ACCELERATION AND/OR SPEED CONTROL, THE SYSTEM FAILS TO STOP PROPULSION AND CONTINUES TO ACCELERATE AND/OR MAINTAIN EXISTING SPEED THEREBY CAUSING A SAFETY HAZARD.
MY 2011 SUBARY LEGACY 2.5I PREMIUM STALLS AT EVERY INTERSECTION WHILE BRAKING. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH SUBARU AND THEY PUT OUT TSB 16-90-13R REGARDING THE ISSUE WITH THE TORQUE CONVERTER ON 1/6/2014. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL AS THIS ISSUE CAUSES A SERIOUS DANGER OF BEING REAR-ENDED AT EVERY INTERSECTION, AS THE CAR STOPS ABRUPTLY FROM STALLING.THE STALLING HAPPENS WHENEVER APPLYING THE BRAKE AND COMING TO A STOP, AT ANY TIME OF DAY AND ANY TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE.
** THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES, IT IS NOT A ONE-TIME EVENT. ** WHILE DRIVING AND THEN APPLYING THE BRAKES TO TRY TO STOP THE CAR, THE ENGINE SHUDDERS AND THEN STALLS OUT COMPLETELY - THE ENGINE STOPS. THIS HAPPENS REGULARLY WHILE BRAKING SUDDENLY TO COME TO A STOP, AND IT SEEMS TO BE AVOIDABLE IF THE CAR IS BROUGHT TO A STOP VERY SLOWLY AND GRADUALLY. THE CAR MAY STALL OUT WHEN STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN ON A LOCAL ROAD OR WHEN COMING TO A STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT ON A STREET OR HIGHWAY. THE CAR MUST BE SHIFTED INTO PARK AND THEN RESTARTED. AT TIMES THIS HAS CREATED A VERY DANGEROUS AND NERVOUS SITUATION FOR ME AND MY PASSENGERS, AS WELL AS OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD, BECAUSE IT HAS HAPPENED IN HEAVY STOP-AND-GO HIGHWAY TRAFFIC. WHILE MOMENTARILY STOPPED ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE TRYING TO RESTART THE CAR A REAR END COLLISION IS VERY LIKELY TO HAPPEN.
TAKA RECALL RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL FROM SUBARU AROUND JUNE 10, 2016. IT HAS NOW BEEN FIVE MONTHS SINCE WE RECEIVED THE RECALL THAT STATED THAT NO PASSENGERS SHOULD SIT IN THE FRONT SEAT OF THE CAR. FIVE MONTHS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A RECALL THAT AFFECTS PASSENGERS FROM SITTING IN THE FRONT SEAT OF A CAR. THIS NEEDS TO BE REMEDIED BY SUBARU IMMEDIATELY AS IT HAS AFFECTED OUR ABILITY TO USE THIS VEHICLE AS A FAMILY CAR.

I HAD A 2011 SUBARU LEGACY2.5;AT 1130 AM,I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE AT A LOCAL CONVENIENCE STORE NEAR US THAT WE OFTEN GO TO,WHEN SUDDENLY ON TURNING RIGHT INTO THE SPACE I HEARD THE ENGINE "REV"AT A FAST SPEED EVEN THOUGH I HAD LIFTED MY FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR.(I USED TO DRIVE A MANUAL SHIFT,AND IT REMINDED ME OF THE SOUND AN ENGINE WOULD MAKE WHEN TRYING TO UPSHIFT TOO FAST BETWEEN GEARS)BEFORE I COULD REACT THE CAR SURGED FORWARD INTO THE SPACE,AND I WAS BARELY ABLE TO SLAM THE BRAKE BEFORE IT COVERED THE 6 TO 8 FEET AND HIT A GUARD POST,CRUMBLING THE FRONT END TO WHERE THE ENGINE IS BENT AND THE CAR A TOTAL LOSS. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.(FORTUNATE,AS WHEN I RETURNED HOME I FOUND THE LETTER FROM SUBARU THAT MY CAR WAS PART OF THE TAKATA RECALL)INTERESTINGLY,THE ENGINE STILL STARTED AND THE CAR WAS DRIVE-ABLE ,DESPITE THE RADIATOR BEING CRACKED IN HALF(WE WERE ABLE TO PARK IT AFTER HAVING IT TOWED). I LOOKED UP THE SYMPTOMS I EXPERIENCED AND FEEL THAT THERE MAY HAVE BEEN ISSUES WITH THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL MECHANISM OR THE APP(WHICH SENSES THE POSITION OF THE ACCELERATOR ,AS I AM SURE YOU KNOW)MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NEVER WENT ON.THE CAR HAD ACTED AS IF IT HAD IDLING ISSUES A COUPLE OF TIMES BUT NOT WITH REGULARITY, AND IT HAD NEVER STALLED OR DISPLAYED ANY OTHER WARNING OF THIS. I HAD JUST DRIVEN THE CAR ABOUT 7 MILES BEFORE THIS HAPPENED. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER SUBARU;I HAVE HAD OTHER CARS WITH TROUBLES IN THE PAST BUT THIS IS BY FAR THE MOST DANGEROUS.I AM JUST THANKING THE LORD THAT THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY AND WE WEREN'T CRUSHED(MY 17 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT).AND,THE CAR ONLY HAD 24,350 MILES ON IT! PRACTICALLY NEW CONDITION!SAD,BECAUSE I REALLY LIKED THIS CAR.
UPON STOPPING AT INTERSECTIONS OR SUDDEN BRAKING ANYWHERE, THE DOWNSHIFT CAUSES THE ENGINE TO SHUDDER AND STALL. IT HAS HAPPENED DOWNTOWN AT SEVERAL BUSY INTERSECTIONS WITH VEHICLES COMING TO A STOP BEHIND ME. THE VEHICLE THEN NEEDS TO BE PUT IN PARK AND RESTARTED IN THE INTERSECTION. THIS ISSUE MATCHES SERVICE BULLETIN 16-90-13R. I HAVE ATTACHED A WRITE UP FROM A DEALERSHIP AFTER DIAGNOSING MY CAR. THE PROBLEM CITED IS A FAULTY TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SOLENOID AND VALVE BODY.
SUBARU OF AMERICA'S RECALL CAMPAIGN: TKA-16, NHTSA NO. 16V-358 STATES THAT: THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE TO FIX THE AIRBAG PROBLEM. THEIR LETTER ALSO STATES: 'UNTIL THIS REPAIR IS PERFORMED, DO NOT ALLOW PASSENGERS TO RIDE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT.' HOWEVER THEY HAVE NOT AUTHORIZED THE DEALERSHIPS TO MANUALLY TURN THE AIRBAGS OFF WHILE THEY WAIT ON PARTS. THE NHTSA SHOULD IMMEDIATELY ENACT A RULING THAT SUBARU DO THIS IMMEDIATELY.

I PERSONALLY BELIEVE THE DEALERSHIP OR RENTAL COMPANIES NEED TO MAKE EXCEPTIONS FOR THOSE UNDER THE AGE OF 25. I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT EXCEPTIONS WOULD BE, BUT I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE OTHERS, LET ALONE MYSELF, IN A CAR THAT IS CONSIDERED UNSAFE AT THE MOMENT. ENGINE IDLE RPM IS UNSTABLE. (+ / - 500 RPM) ENGINE STALLED MANY TIMES (6 OR 7) WITHOUT REASON AND IN DANGEROUS SITUATION AS TURNING IN THE INTERSECTION OR CROSSING RAIL ROADS, WHEN STOPPING OR SLOWING DOWN. I WENT TWICE IN SUBARU SERVICE. AT FIRST THEY REPLACED THE "TORQUE CONVERTER" AND PROCEEDED WITH SOME ADJUSTMENTS IN THE ENGINE. SECOND TIME THEY "RE-PROGRAMMED" THE COMPUTER. AS OF TODAY I AM GETTING SAME ISSUE WITHOUT HELP FROM SUBARU SERVICE. THEY ADVISED TO FILE A CLAIM AND EVENTUALLY SUE THE COMPANY.

THE 2011 SUBARU LEGACY HAS AN ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE. AFTER A FEW YEARS, THE BRAKE MECHANISM BROKE AND WOULDN'T "TURN ON" OR "SWITCH OFF". THIS WAS TERRIBLY UNSAFE AND COST OVER $800 DOLLARS TO FIX. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY.
TAKATA RECALL I HAVE CONTACTED BOTH SUBARU AND THE LOCAL DEALER REQUESTING SERVICE MULTIPLE TIMES. IVE BEEN TOLD THERE IS NO TIMELINE TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG, HOWEVER HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT NO PASSENGER SHOULD RIDE IN THE FRONT SEAT UNTIL THIS IS CORRECTED. FAILURE TO FIX/REPLACE IN A TIMELY MANNER.
WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES AT A SLOW SPEED THE CAR WILL STUTTER AND STALL. THE DEALER SAID THEY HAVE HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM WITH THIS TRANSMISSION. THEY SAID IT IS NOT COVERED AND IT WILL NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION.

I DO NOT KEEP MY LIGHTS ON AUTOMATIC AS THAT IS WHAT SUBARU TOLD ME AS TO WHY I KEEP HAVING TO REPLACE THE LIGHTS. IT IS NOT ONLY UNSAFE AND COSTLY, BUT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO ACCESS THE HEADLIGHT ON MY OWN TO CHANGE THE BULB WITHOUT PAYING FOR LABOR.

THE FRONT HEADLIGHTS HAVE GONE OUT 4 TIMES IN THE 4 YEARS SINCE WE BOUGHT THE CAR NEW. UNUSUAL. THE FUSE TO THE SEAT WARMERS HAS GONE OUT, REPLACED AND WENT OUT AGAIN. DEALER SAYS REPLACE HEATER MODULE FOR $440.+. SOUND LIKE ELECTRICAL ISSUE TO US. ALSO LOST AUDIO ON STEERING WHEEL. DEALER CONFIRMED NEED TO REPLACE AUDIO SWITCH $300.+ AGAIN, SOUNDS LIKE A PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. SO FAR THE ONLY SAFETY ISSUE HAS BEEN THE FRONT HEADLIGHTS, BUT I WORRY ABOUT SOMETHING MORE SERIOUS AS OTHER POSTERS HAVE MENTIONED.
