CHILD SAFETY LOCK ON REAR PASSENGER DOOR GOT STUCK UPON ACTIVATION FOR THE FIRST TIME. UNABLE TO UNLOCK IT. THE DOOR CAN ONLY BE OPENED MANUALLY FROM OUTSIDE. GOODYEAR TIRES EAGLE LS 2 225/50-18 ARE COMPLETELY DRY ROTTEN . THE RIDE IS TERRIBLE AND UNSAFE.
CVT TRANSMISSION IS FAILING AFTER THE RECOMMENDED SERVICE INTERVAL FOR FLUID CHANGES IN THE CVT, FRONT DIFFERENTIAL AND REAR DIFFERENTIAL. FAILURE AT 64,800 AT FREEWAY SPEEDS ON 12/28/2018. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO SUBARU DEALERSHIP AND THEY PERFORMED A CLEANING OF CARBON BUILD UP AND CHECKED THE FLUID LEVELS AND RESET EVERYTHING. SUBARU CLAIMED THE COMPUTER WAS ERASED BECAUSE THE CAR WOULDN'T START ONCE AND HAD BEEN CHARGED. DEALERSHIP DECLARED EVERYTHING WAS CORRECT AND ROADWORTHY. PICKED UP CAR ON 1/1/2019 AND TRANSMISSION FAILED AGAIN AT FREEWAY SPEEDS AFTER APPROXIMATELY 12 MILES OF DRIVING, THIS IS THE SECOND FAILURE, 01/01/2019. VEHICLE IS BEING TOWED INTO SUBARU DEALERSHIP AGAIN ON 1/2/2019. TRANSMISSION FAILING AT 70 MPH AND CAUSING A SUDDEN DECREASE IN SPEED IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD RESULT IN BEING HIT FROM THE REAR OR LOSING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE.
WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A CRACKED UNDER PASSENGER SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER AND HAS NOW SPREAD ACROSS THE BOTTOM OF MY WINDSHIELD. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN I NOTICED IT
I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC ON A MAIN TOWN ROAD. AND WAS REAR ENDED AT UNDER 20 MPH. MY HEAD HIT THE STEERING WHEEL AND I WAS WEARING MY SEAT BELT. I DO NOT FEEL THAT THE SEAT BELT KEPT PROPERLY RESTRAINED ME.
THE CHILD SAFETY LOCK ON THE REAR PASSENGER'S SIDE WILL NOT DISENGAGE. IT HAPPENED SUDDENLY (UNKNOWN). YOU CAN'T OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE, BUT YOU CAN OPEN IT FROM THE OUTSIDE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE PASSENGERS COULD NOT GET OUT OF THE DOOR IF AN ACCIDENT WERE TO OCCUR. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. THE ACTUATOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. AFTER SEARCHING ONLINE RECENTLY THERE ARE A NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE THIS ISSUE WITH THEIR SUBARU.
EYESIGHT ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT DETECT A STOPPED VEHICLE IN FRONT AT ALL DIFFERENT SPEEDS. DRIVING ON HIGHWAY IF YOU COME UP ON A COMPLETELY STOPPED VEHICLE THE EYESIGHT ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT DETECT THE VEHICLE A DRIVER ACTION IS NECESSARY TO STOP THE CAR. THE SYSTEM WORKS FINE IF THE CAR IN FRONT IS MOVING.
XMRADIO STOPPED WORKING IN THE CAR AFTER XMRADIO DID AN UPDATE. WHAT THEY ARE SAYING IT IS DUE TO SUBARU AND NOT XMRADIO. THIS PROBLEM IS EFFECTING A LOT OF CARS AND THE WAY IT SOUNDS LIKE IT WILL HAVE TO BE TAKEN TO A DEALER AFTER MID DECEMBER TO GET AN UPDATE AT OUR COST. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON 2 MNTHS ALREADY AND NO WORD FROM XMRADIO ABOUT THIS HAS COME TO US. IT LOOKS LIKE IT IS EFFECTING ALL OF SUBARU CARS FROM ABOUT 2015 AND NEWER. EVEN THOUGH NO UPGRADES WERE DONE TO THE RADIO AND THE DEALER CAN NOT FIX IT WITH THE UPGRADE OR THE FACTORY RESET THAT XMRADIO SAYS TO DO.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 SUBARU LEGACY. WHILE REVERSING THE VEHICLE, IT SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE DROVE THROUGH THE DRIVEWAY BARRIERS AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPAIRED THE REAR DRIVER SIDE PANEL AND TRUNK. THE CONTACT HAD NOT CALLED THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WOULD TOW THE VEHICLE TO A SUBARU DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 SUBARU LEGACY. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A SIDE IMPACT COLLISION. THE SIDE IMPACT AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A MILD CONCUSSION FROM THE IMPACT AND MODERATE HEAD PAIN, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BILL RAPP SUBARU (3446 BURNET AVE, SYRACUSE, NY) WHERE IT WAS DEEMED OPERABLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE SIDE AIR BAG SENSORS DID NOT RECEIVE ENOUGH OF AN IMPACT TO DEPLOY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 47,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH MY SUBARU WINDSHIELD WHERE I HAVE HAD TO GET THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED MULTIPLE TIMES IN A SHORT TIME SPAN. WITHIN THE LAST YEAR, I'VE HAD TO REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD TWICE ALREADY(21JUL2017 AND 11MAY2018). AFTER GETTING THE CAR BACK LAST FRIDAY (MAY 11TH, 2018) AFTER GETTING THE SECOND REPLACEMENT, I GOT ANOTHER CRACK/CHIP WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. I FEAR THAT THIS LATEST CRACK MAY SPREAD AND WILL FORCE ME TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD FOR A THIRD TIME. I DON'T FEEL THAT THE WINDSHIELDS ARE STRONG ENOUGH TO PROTECT AGAINST SLIGHT IMPACTS AND MY CHILDREN NO LONGER FEEL SAFE IN THE VEHICLE AFTER SEEING THE WINDSHIELD CRACK SO MANY TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR.
KEY GETS STUCK IN IGNITION AFTER PUTTING VEHICLE IN PARK. IT IS AN INTERMITTENT ISSUE BUT AS TIME PASSES IT HAPPENS MORE AND MORE. THERE WAS A SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED IN 2018 REGARDING THIS BULLETIN #16-112-18R. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR OVER A YEAR AND A HALF. PER SUBARU OF AMERICA THEY ARE FULLY AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AS THEY GET A TON OF PHONE CALLS REGARDING THIS BUT HAVE NOT YET ISSUED A RECALL.
WIRES AND OTHER COMPONENTS ARE MADE OF SOY BASED MATERIALS THAT ATTRACT RODENTS SQUIRRELS CHIPMUNKS AND CATS APPARENTLY AND HAVE BEEN CHEWED; THE HARNESS WAS DESTROYED AND POTENTIAL DAMAGE TO THIS AND TO POWER STEERING LINE, EXHAUST HOSES AND OTHER WIRING AND PARTS WITH SOY EXIST. THE MANUFACTURER STATES THERE IS NO REMEDY OTHER THAN TO REPLACE WITH THE SAME MATERIALS. WE ARE CONCERNED NOT ONLY FOR FINANCIAL REASONS BUT PARTICULARLY SAFETY ISSUES. WHEN I TURNED ON THE ENGINE IN THE MORNING EVERY WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASH WAS FLASHING INCLUDING BRAKE, TRANSMISSION, OIL, AIR, ETC AND I COULD NOT DRIVE AT ALL. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH OTHERS WHO HAVE HAD ACCIDENTS OR CAR FIRES RELATED TO THIS SITUATION.
IN THE LESS THAN TWO YEARS I HAVE OWNED MY VEHICLE, I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD ONCE (WHEN IT WAS LESS THAN A YEAR OLD) AND REPAIRED CRACKS 3 TIMES, THE LATEST BEING TODAY. ALL DAMAGES WERE DONE BY GRAVEL PICKED OFF THE ROAD, AND NOT IN CONSTRUCTION ZONES. NOT ONLY HAVE I NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH MY PREVIOUS VEHICLE DRIVING DOWN THE SAME ROADS, IN THE SAME STATE OF REPAIR, BUT NEITHER HAVE MY PARENTS IN 20+ YEARS OF DRIVING 5 DIFFERENT MAKES/MODELS ON THE SAME ROADS. NOT ONLY IS THE WINDSHIELD RIDICULOUSLY FRAGILE, SINCE I HAVE THE 'EYESIGHT' SAFETY FEATURE, I WAS TOLD THAT I COULD NOT REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD WITH AN OEM/GENERIC WINDSHIELD. I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE FLIMSY WINDSHIELD WITH ANOTHER FLIMSY SUBARU WINDSHIELD. IF I DID NOT, NOT ONLY WOULD THEY NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE SAFETY FEATURE I PAID OVER $1500 ADDITIONAL FOR WOULD WORK, BUT THEY WOULDN'T EVEN ATTEMPT TO CALIBRATE IT SHOULD IT BE NEEDED. I HAVE SEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT SUBARU WINDSHIELDS, SO THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A KNOWN ISSUE. SUBARU SHOULD WORK ON REINFORCING THEIR WINDSHIELDS AT THE VERY LEAST, ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE FORCING PEOPLE TO BUY THEM. THIS SHOULD ALSO BE INFORMATION GIVEN TO PROSPECTIVE BUYERS.
TAKATA RECALL NOT RECALLED YET, DO NOT KNOW IF I AM AT RISK
I WAS GOING 40MPH WHEN I HAD TO BREAK FOR A YELLOW LIGHT WITH PLENTY OF TIME TO STOP, AS I WAS HITTING THE BRAKES MY CAR BEGAN TO SKIP AND CONTINUE TO PRESS FORWARD AND DID NOT STOP UNTIL I HIT THE BACK OF SOMEONE'S VEHICLE. THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK AND I WAS NOT GOING SO FAST THAT I COULDN'T HAVE HAD A SMOOTH STOP.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF MY FRONT BUMPER WAS FALLING OFF. THE DEALER SAID A BRACKET HAD BROKEN. SUBARU WOULD NOT REPLACE THE BUMPER UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THE DEALER DID REPLACE IT FREE OF CHARGE. NOW FOUR MONTHS LATER, THE PASSENGER'S SIDE OF THE FRONT BUMPER IS FALLING OFF. THIS SEEMS LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE NOT BEEN HIT AND HAVE NOT HIT ANYTHING.
EYE SITE SAFETY MAIN WIRING HARNESS RODENT DAMAGE HARNESS INSERTION MADE WITH SOYBEAN SO ITS MADE OF FOOD HAPPENED PARKED IN DRIVEWAY
IN LESS THAN 36,000 MILES IT DEVELOPED A GRINDING NOISE THAT CAN BE FELT ABOVE 50 MPH. DEALER FOUND A PROBLEM WITH THE AUTO TRANSMISSION. IT WILL BEING REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. STRANGE, I THOUGHT SUBARU IS KNOWN FOR BETTER TRANSMISSION. IN THE SAME CAR THE CD PLAYER STOPPED WORKING AND MAKING NOISE SIMILAR TO WHAT YOU HEAR WHEN A CD IS BEING EJECTED. DEALER CHANGED IT UNDER WARRANTY. I RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER ON DCM SOFTWARE IN THE CAR & I TOOK CAR TO THE DEALER. HOWEVER, THIS RECALL IS NOT LISTED ON WEB. WHY?
ONE MORNING AFTER BEING PARKED ALL NIGHT, WE NOTICED A SIX INCH CRACK APPEARED ONE DAY IN THE FRONT WINDSHIELD HALF WAY UP AT THE PASSENGER SIDE EDGE AND EXTENDING TOWARD THE DRIVER SIDE. THERE IS NO IMPACT OR CHIP SITE IN THE WINDSHIELD.
MAY OF 2017 I WAS DRIVING NORTH BOUND ON 294. AS I WAS GOING THROUGH THE CURVE THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON THE CAR WOULDN'T TURN BACK. I STOP AND WAS ABLE TO PULL THE CAR OFF THE ROAD WITH NO INCIDENT. I CALLED SIS IT'S A D ASKED IF WAS A SAFETY RECALL. I WAS TOLD NO. I THEN HAD THEM TO THE CAR TO SUBARU OF AMERICA IN ORLAND PARK IL. WHEN THE CAR WAS FROSTED TOLD I WAS TOLD THE CAR WOULD BE FIX IT WAS COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE POWER STEERING MOTOR. SUBARU OF AMERICA THEN CONTACTED ME SAYING THE CAR WAS INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT SO IT WOULDN'T BE FIXED. ONCE THEY FOUND OUT I WAS BLACK. I FILED A BETTER BUSINESS REPORT SUBARU STILL DENIED THE CLAIM TELLING TO USE MY INSURANCE MY INSUWPULDNT PAY SAID IT DEFECT PART. SUBARU FAILED TO EXAMINE THE UNDERLYING PROBLEM BEFORE DENYING THE CLAIM. SUBARU IMMEDIATELY BLAMED ME BUT NEVER CHECKING THE PROBLEM. ONCE I RECEIVED THE CAR BACK. IT WAS IN WORST CONDITION. THE CAR CANE BACK IN WORST CONDITIONS BUMPER PEELING FENDER SMASHED. I WAS TOLD THAT WAS MY FAULT THE CAR CAME BACK WORST. THAT INTERFERED WITH THE OTHER THINGS IN WARRANTY BEING REPAIRED L WAS DIAGNOSED WITH BIG C. IN 2017 NOW BACK TO OK HEALTH I CAN PROCEED WITH PROCESS. I RENTED CARS FOR A YEAR AND THEN EVENTUALLY BROUGHT ONE. I NEED SUBARU TO REPAIR THE CAR I WANT TO KEEP IT.

AFTER STARTING THE ENGINE, WHEN PULLING OUT FROM MY DRIVEWAY AND PUT THE GEAR IN REVERSE TO PULL OUT, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN WITHOUT MY FOOT PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR. SO BRAKE HAS TO BE APPLIED IMMEDIATELY TO SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE. IT SHOOTS FORWARD WITH OUT ME ACCELERATING.. IT ACCELERATES AT ABOUT 25-30 MILES PER HOUR WITHOUT ME ONCE AGAIN ACCELERATING IT SO WE HAD TO BRAKE ALL THE WAY FROM THE HOUSE TO THE PLACE OF WORK. WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL NEW CARS INCLUDING MERCEDES BENZ AND NEVER HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. AS I GO ON THE STREET THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT ME ACCELERATING IT. THERE IS ALSO A BURNING SMELL WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED. . WE TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER AND THEY WERE NO HELP AT ALL..
MY VEHICAL HAD THE WRONG BRAKES ON IT COULD NOT GET INSPECTED TECH NOTICED PAD WERE TOO BIG FOR ROTOR. 8 DAYS LATER CAR STILL NOT RETURNED TO ME IF HE HADDENED NOTICE BRAKE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 SUBARU LEGACY. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE MIRRORS REFLECTED THE SILVER CHROME FROM AROUND THE AIR CONDITIONING VENTS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS OBSTRUCTED THE VIEW OF THE ROAD ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE DEALER TINTED THE WINDOWS, BUT THE ISSUE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,200.
WHEN RESUMED CRUISE CONTROL, IT DID NOT. INSTEAD THE STEERING WHEEL WAS UNCONTROLLABLE AND HAD NO DIRECTION. WAS ON INTERSTATE 84WEST IN CT. PUT ON BREAK AND THEN WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE ON SIDE OF ROAD. WENT TO THE DEALER AND TOLD NO ISSUE. ALSO HAVE HAD GEAR SHIFTING PROBLEMS. WAS IN TOUCH LESS CAR WASH WHERE THE CAR IS IN PARK AND WHEN TOLD (FLASHING SIGN) TO MOVE FORWARD THE CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO DRIVE. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, SHUT CAR OFF AND THEN WAS ABLE TO PUT IN DRIVE. ON OCCASIONS THE SHIFTING GEAR HAS NOT REMAINED IN PARK AND VEHICLE HAS MOVED FORWARD.
FRONT WINDSHIELD GOT CRACK UPON BEING HITTING BY A FOREIGN OBSTACLE, MAYBE A PEBBLE. WITHIN A DAY, THE CRACK LINE EXTENDED TO MORE THAN 1 FOOT, WHICH AFFECTED FRONT VISIBILITY. WITHIN A FEW WEEKS, THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED TO MY 2017 SUBARU OUTBACK THAT SHARES THE SAME WINDSHIELD COMPONENT WITH LEGACY. IN THE PAST, I HAD WINDSHIELD CRACKS WITH OTHER CARS I OWNED BUT THE CRACKS DID NOT GROW AS FAST AS SUBARU'S. I AM WONDERING IF THE SUBARU'S WINDSHIELD USED IN LEGACY AND OUTBACK MAY HAVE A MATERIAL PROBLEM OR A MANUFACTURING ISSUE.
WHEN SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE THERE IS AN EXTENDED DELAY AND APPLICATION OF THROTTLE CAUSES A SEVERE LURCHING OF THE CAR WHICH CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
FOLLOWING ARE TWO MAIN ISSUES, CAUSALITY/CORRELATION UNCERTAIN. AFTER THE "SUBARU EYESIGHT" FAILED FOR ABOUT TWO MINUTES WHILE UNDERWAY (DASHBOARD CLUSTER LIT UP IN NUMEROUS PLACES, TOO), THE EYESIGHT SYSTEM RESET WHILE DRIVING. THEREAFTER, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO "BUCK (E.G. LURCH FORWARD SEVERAL INCHES WITH A LOT OF FORCE)" WHEN THE VEHICLE'S CVT WAS IN "DRIVE" AND I WAS STOPPED WITH THE BRAKE DEPRESSED AT NORMAL PRESSURE. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT SIX TIMES IN THE LAST FOUR DAYS, AND I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED. THE "BUCK" IS SO SEVERE THAT THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, I FELT LIKE I WAS REAR-ENDED. THE MOST RECENT TIME THAT IT OCCURRED, MY BEST FRIEND COULD HAVE BEEN SEVERELY INJURED WHEN THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD AS HE WAS STANDING OUTSIDE OF THE RUNNING VEHICLE, GATHERING THINGS FROM THE FRONT SEAT (E.G. FOOT OR LEG RUN OVER HAD HE BEEN TAKING GROCERIES OUT OF THE BACK SEAT). AT THIS POINT, THE SUBARU DEALERSHIP IS BEING COY ABOUT SITUATION RESOLUTION. WHAT IS ESPECIALLY CONCERNING IS THAT THE EYESIGHT SYSTEM IS SUPPOSED TO "KILL" ACCELERATION WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED, AND AN OBJECT FORWARD OF THE CAR IS DETECTED. YET, THE VEHICLE TRIED TO PROCEED FORWARD WHEN STOPPED IN TRAFFIC?
RIGHT REAR SEAT DOES NOT LATCH/LOCK IN PLACE IN UPRIGHT POSITION. LEFT REAR SEAT DOES LATCH/LOCK IN PLACE IN UPRIGHT POSITION.
DURING CERTAIN TIMES OF THE DAY IN THE MORNING AND AFTERNOON WHEN THE SUN IS AT AN ANGLE THROUGH THE FRONT DOOR WINDOWS THERE IS A BLINDING GLARE ON THE INFOTAINMENT SCREEN AS WELL AS THE HIGH GLOSS CLEAR COVER THAT COVERS THE AREA AROUND THE 7 INCH SCREEN. EVEN WITH SUNGLASSES ON IT IS LIKE LOOKING INTO THE SUN. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND DESIGN FLAW. MY BROTHER HAS THE SAME ISSUE ON A USED 2015 LEGACY THAT HE JUST BOUGHT. IN ADDITION THE SILVER METALLIC LIKE STRIP ABOVE THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT CREATES A PIERCING GLARE.
WE PICKED UP A BRAND NEW SUBARU LEGACY YESTERDAY AND DROVE IT APPROXIMATELY 75 HOME LATE IN THE AFTERNOON. AFTER I GOT ON THE INTERSTATE TRAVELLING EAST THERE WAS A TERRIBLE, BLINDING GLARE COMING OFF THE INFOTAINMENT/CLIMATE CONTROL AREA. IT IS COVERED WITH A VERY GLOSSY MATERIAL. SOME GLARE ALSO CAME OFF THE SILVER TRIM ON THE DASHBOARD ABOVE THE GLOVEBOX, AND TO THE LEFT OF THE DRIVER CONSOLE, BUT THE WORST IS THE INFOTAINMENT SCREEN. I WAS BLINDED, DISTRACTED, AND ENDED UP WITH A BLINDING MIGRAINE. CAN'T SUBARU COME UP WITH A NON-GLARE FILM FOR THIS?
I BOUGHT THE CAR AS A DEALER CAR (THEY TOLD ME IT WAS REGISTERED TO A MANAGER AS A TEST CAR). IT HAD 4,810 MILES WHEN I BOUGHT IT. I HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR JUST OVER 300 MILES. WHEN I TEST DRIVE IT, IT MADE A SOUND LIKE A STONE HIT THE WINDSHIELD. THEN ALMOST EVERY TIME I HAVE DRIVEN IT SINCE, INCLUDING THREE TIMES TODAY, IT MADE THE SAME EXACT SOUND. I WAS DRIVING BOTH IN CITY TRAFFIC (RED LIGHT TO RED LIGHT) AND ON A TOLL ROAD WITH LIMITED TRAFFIC. WHEN I GOT OUT AND LOOKED AT THE WINDSHIELD, I NOTICED LITERALLY 50 OR MORE SMALL "CHIPS" IN THE WINDSHIELD.
THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT IMMEDIATELY ENGAGE, WHEN SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE OR DRIVE TO REVERSE, WITH OR WITHOUT ENGAGING THE FOOT BRAKE. THE TRANSMISSION GOES INTO A SIGNIFICANT NEUTRAL STATE BEFORE IT ENGAGES, IN EITHER DIRECTION, ALLOWING THE VEHICLE TO DRIFT UNTIL THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGES WITH A LURCH. THE OCCURS WHETHER OR NOT THE ENGINE IS HOT OR COLD. THIS IS PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS AND NOTICEABLE WHEN BACKING FROM MY DRIVEWAY, WHICH IS INCLINED, TO PROCEED UPHILL, AND THE VEHICLE DRIFTS SEVERAL FEET REARWARD BEFORE ENGAGING. THE DELAY IS NOT AS PRONOUNCED, WHEN EXITING TO PROCEED DOWN THE STREET. PAGES 7-24 AND 7-27 OF THE SUBARU OWNER'S MANUAL SPECIFICALLY STATE NOT TO USE INERTIA TO MOVE THE VEHICLE. THERE IS, ALSO, A HARSH, PREMATURE DOWNSHIFT THAT QUICKLY TAKES THE CAR FROM 25 MPH TO 15 MPH AND A ROLLING STOP, WHEN REMOVING YOUR FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR, WHILE APPROACHING THE CREST OF A HILL OR STOP SIGN. THE BRAKING FORCE WILL ACTUALLY THROW YOU BODY FORWARD. THIS, ALSO, OCCURS WHILE TRAVELLING AT LOW SPEEDS ON RESIDENTIAL STREETS. THESE CONDITIONS HAVE EXISTED SINCE MARCH 8, 2016, AND AFTER 4 REPAIR REQUESTS, AT 3 DIFFERENT SUBARU DEALERS, AND AN INSPECTION BY A FACTORY ENGINEER, THEIR CLAIM IS NOTHING IS WRONG. SORRY, BUT I DO NOT AGREE. ENGINEER, CONTINUE TO EXIST. THEIR CLAIM BEING THIS IS NORMAL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 SUBARU LEGACY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS VEERING RIGHT AND LEFT. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED NO DIAGNOSIS AND NO REPAIR SOLUTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V292000 (STEERING). THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO REACH THE MANUFACTURER SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS UNABLE TO CONTACT THEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WITHIN A MONTH OF PURCHASING BRAND NEW, MY 2016 LEGACY DEVELOPED A MASSIVE CRACK AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD NEAR THE DEFROST. I REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD WITH A NEW SUBARU WINDSHIELD ONLY TO HAVE IT CRACK AGAIN IN A DIFFERENT PLACE WITHIN A FEW MONTHS. I CONTACTED SUBARU AS THERE IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE WINDSHIELDS ON THE EARLY 2016 MODELS AND THEY REFUSED TO ASSIST.
UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. THREE EPISODES STARTING FROM AUGUST 2015. (DELIVERY MONTH OF CAR). WAS SLOWING DOWN,FOOT LIGHTLY ON BRAKE AT ENTRANCE GATE TO MY COMMUNITY,WHEN ENGINE SURGED AND CAR STARTED ACCELERATING. STOMPED HARD ON BRAKE TO STOP FORWARD MOTION. LASTED ONLY A FEW SECONDS AND WENT BACK TO NORMAL. OTHER 2 TIMES ALMOST IDENTICAL CIRCUMSTANCES. HAVE FIRST APPT. WITH SUBARU OM FEB. 2 2016.
HIGH GLOSS NAVIGATION SCREEN AND HIGH GLOSS FINISH ON VENTS REFLECT SUN AT CERTAIN ANGLES AND RESULT IN SUN BEING REFLECTED INTO DRIVERS EYES CAUSING A BLINDING CONDITION. THIS HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING DURING DAYLIGHT WHEN SUN IS OUT. THIS IS A SEVERE AND SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE DRIVEN SUBARUS FOR YEARS AND JUST GOT THE 2016 LEGACY. HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH ANY OTHER VEHICLE. HAVE TO PUT A TOWEL OVER AREA WHEN SUN IS OUT TO DRIVE WITHOUT BEING BLINDED.
3.6 LITER 6-CYL ENGINE SURGES AFTER A COLD START. WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED, THE IDLE SPEED IS HIGH. WHEN THE CAR IS PUT INTO GEAR, AS THE BRAKES ARE RELEASED AND THE CAR BEGINS TO MOVE, THE IDLE SPEED DROPS. IF THE CAR IS BROUGHT TO A STOP OR A VERY LOW (CREEPING) SPEED, THE IDLE SPEED INCREASES, CAUSING THE CAR TO LURCH. FOOT NEVER TOUCHES ACCELERATOR PEDAL AT ALL. THIS BEHAVIOR CAUSES THE CAR TO MOVE UNEXPECTEDLY AFTER IT IS BROUGHT TO A STOP BY THE BRAKES. IT ALSO MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO MOVE THE CAR AT CREEPING SPEED - EASING OFF THE BRAKES, AS THE CAR STARTS TO MOVE, THE IDLE SPEED DROPS, CAUSING THE BRAKES TO SLOW THE CAR. AFTER A SECOND, AS THE CAR COMES TO A STOP, THE ENGINE SPEED KICKS UP AGAIN. THIS MAKES THE CAR LURCH INTO MOTION AGAIN. OPERATOR MUST QUICKLY INCREASE BRAKE PRESSURE, BUT SIMULTANEOUSLY THE ENGINE IDLE SPEED DROPS DUE TO THE INCREASED SPEED. THEREFORE THE CAR SLOWS AGAIN AND THE CYCLE REPEATS. THE DESCRIBED BEHAVIOR HAPPENS EQUALLY IN FORWARD OR REVERSE GEAR. THE DESCRIBED BEHAVIOR IS ONLY AN ISSUE ON A COLD START. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN WITH A WARM ENGINE. I EXPERIENCE THIS ON A DAILY BASIS. IT HAS AFFECTED CONTROL OF MY CAR IN THE FOLLOWING SITUATIONS: BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY; ENTERING AN INTERSECTION; IN A PARKING LOT.

THE HEADREST ANGLE IS COMPLETELY UNCOMFORTABLE. IT WILL CAUSE PEOPLE DO ACCIDENT, BECAUSE THEY CAN'T DRIVE WITH EASE.
