The contact owns a 2013 Subaru Outback. The contact stated while his wife was driving 75 mph, the sunroof exploded, and the glass shattered onto the shade guard. The contact stated that his wife veered to the side of the road, where she inspected the vehicle but could not determine the cause of the failure. The contact stated that his wife was able to drive to her destination. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 134,900.
While driving near my home on June 5, 2021, the vehicle simply shut off and simultaneously all the warning lights flashed. I was unable to restart the vehicle after two or three tries. I called a tow service. About an hour later, before the tow truck arrived, I turned the key again, and the car restarted. This occurred in the middle of the roadway and I was lucky no vehicle was being behind me, as a collision could have happened. A local auto repair shop looked at the computer code and found one for a cracked gas cap. The mechanic replaced the gas cap, but stated that it could not have caused the car to cease running. I took the car to a Subaru dealer on June 14, 2021, but the service consultant stated that looking for the problem would be like "going down a rabbit hole" and told me to continue to drive the car until another incident happened.
Upon entering a parking space,my 2013 Subaru Outback went from idle to full acceleration,hitting a parked,unoccupied truck. Braking had no effect on the car,the air bag did not deploy,and the car did not decelerate until I was able to engage Park-within a few seconds it resumed the idle. The police made a report,car was taken to wrecking yard,and is now at repair facility for possible repair. There were no prior warnings or messages. I was unaware of a safety issue with Subaru and when I contacted my local dealer,I was told they were unaware of any issues. I then did research online and found numerous problems.
The backup camera began to malfunction (not work) intermittently until it stopped working altogether.
Power steering failed while driving. Power steering fluid had all leaked out. Luckily car was at a very low speed as steering was quite difficult. Repaired at Subaru dealer who discovered a leak in a metal high pressure line. There was no evidence of external damage to pressure line. Photo showed a hairline crack at the outside of a 90° bend, thus probably a manufacturing defect. Dealer replaced entire steering rack.
BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER IS FAILING, ACCORDING TO SUBARU SERVICE MECHANIC. PRIOR 4 YEARS OF SAME MODEL WERE UNDER RECALL FOR MASTER CYLINDER DEFECT, REPLACEMENT. THIS IS TECHNICALLY THE SAME PROBLEM. SUBARU HAS PROVIDED FREE REPLACEMENTS FOR SOME 2013 OWNERS WHO HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH MASTER CYLINDER. SEAL IN MC IS BROKEN.
AT 95,000 SUBARU REPLACED MY TRANSMISSION WHICH WAS COVERED UNDER AN "EXTENDED WARRANTY". IT IS NOW 1.5 YEARS LATER, I HAVE 117,000 MILES AND THEY SAY I NEED ANOTHER NEW TRANSMISSION BUT BECAUSE IT IS OVER 100,000 MILES THEY WILL NOT COVER IT. I HAVE SINCE FOUND COUNTLESS OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM

The contact stated while entering the vehicle, her knee hit the button next to the center console labeled push on/push off parking brake which activated the parking brake. The contact was unable to turn off the button. The vehicle was taken to her son who works as an independent mechanic to release the activated parking brakes. The failure persisted. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage is 116,067.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED INSIDE THE GARAGE, A CRACK FORMED ON THE UPPER PASSENGER'S SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE CHECKED THE SECURITY FOOTAGE AROUND HIS HOME WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND SAW NO EVIDENCE OF AN IMPACT TO THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT STATED THE CRACK IMPAIRED HIS VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 116,000.
2013 SUBARU OUTBACK. ENTIRE SET OF WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON FIVE MINUTES AFTER STARTED DRIVING VEHICLE. MECHANIC SAID TO HAVE IT TOWED. DIAGNOSIS: CVT TRANSMISSION TOTALLY FRIED AT A MERE 106,600. SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET A LOT MORE MILES FROM THIS TRANSMISSION. LEMON LAW BUT SHOULD BE A RECALL. $8000 REPAIR BILL.
THE MOTOR BLEW ON MY 2013 SUBARU OUTBACK WITH ONLY 78K MILES ON IT. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS THERE WAS ANYTHING WRONG JUST STOPPED WORKING AND SHUT DOWN. THE 2013 SUBARU OUTBACK HAS KNOWN ISSUES AND HAD MULTIPLE RECALLS. THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN ON A VEHICLE THAT WAS FULLY MAINTAINED AND HAD LESS THEN 100K MILES ON IT.
BRAKE LIGHT FLASHES AND PARKING BRAKE DOES NOT FUNCTION
DURING A 120,000 SERVICE AT THE SUBARU DEALER (ODOMETER AT 121,333 MILES) I WAS INFORMED THAT METAL FILINGS HAD BEEN OBSERVED IN THE DIFFERENTIAL FLUID, INDICATING A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. NOT LONG AFTER THAT, MY VEHICLE EXPERIENCED AN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION. I ACCELERATED TO PASS ON THE FREEWAY, AND AFTER HAVING DONE SO, THE TRANSMISSION KEPT ACCELERATING AND WOULD NOT KICK DOWN FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHERE THEY CONFIRMED THE TRANSMISSION IS INDEED FAILING. THIS EVENT SET UP A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE, AT THE LEAST BEING DISTRACTED IN TRYING TO GET THE TRANSMISSION KICKED DOWN AGAIN, AND, AT MOST, HAVING A FAILURE ON THE THE HIGHWAY, WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES. A TRANSMISSION SHOULD NOT BE GOING BAD AFTER ONLY 121,000 MILES. ALL THE REQUIRED MAINTENANCE AND SERVICING HAD BEEN DONE FOLLOWING SUBARU'S RECOMMENDATIONS. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT. SUBARU'S WEAK EXTENDED WARRANTY IS JUST THEIR WAY OF AVOIDING THE COSTS OF FIXING THIS DEFECT, TO THE DETRIMENT OF THEIR CUSTOMERS.
THE WARNING LIGHTS- BRAKES, TIRE PRESSURE, CRUISE CONTROL, ENGINE LIGHTS AND TRACTION CONTROL ALL COME ON AND WON'T GO OFF. HAD THEM RESET BY THE MECHANICS BUT A DAY LATER THEY CAME BACK ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY FOR NO REASON. CRUISE NO LONGER WORKS AS THE LIGHTS ARE ON. A LOT OF PEOPLE ON LINE SEEM TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND I THINK YOU SHOULD MAKE SUBARU ISSUE SOME KIND OF RECALL TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. THANK YOU. *TR
THIS CAR GUZZLES OIL, LIKE A QUART EVERY THOUSAND MILES MAKING IT A [XXX] CAR FOR ROAD TRIPS. I BOUGHT THIS FOR ROAD TRIPS SO THANKS SUBARU. IT HAS CVT ISSUES THAT SUBARU WON'T ACKNOWLEDGE OR REPAIR, DANGEROUS ONES TOO SUCH AS LOSS OF POWER WHILE IDLING, AND FEELING THE ENGINE IS GOING TO DIE WHEN IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. HEARD SOME NOISE COMING FROM THE CAR AND BROUGHT IT TO SUBARU. THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION FOR $9,000. I CHECKED ONLINE AND FOUND THIS TYPE OF TRANSMISSION HAS HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS. I ONLY HAVE 129,000 MILES ON THE CAR. I SERVICE IT REGULARLY AS I HAVE DONE ALL MY VEHICLES IN MY LIFETIME. I HAVE NEVER REPLACE A TRANSMISSION ON ANY CAR I OWED IN THE +50 YEARS OF PURCHASING CARS. *TR
USE MORE THAN A QUART OF OIL A WEEK AND JUST CHANGE BRAKES AND THEY SHIMMY AND JOLT
SUBARU HAS FAILED TO COMPLY WITH THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL. I BEGAN BY CALLING THE PHONE NUMBER SUPPLIED ON THE RECALL LETTER, BUT THE OPERATOR THERE PROVIDED NO INFORMATION ABOUT ACCOMPLISHING THIS RECALL. I NEXT TRIED THE SUBARU WEBSITE, UNDER RECALLS. ALTHOUGH THE SITE PURPORTED TO PROVIDE A MECHANISM TO EFFECT THE RECALL, IN FACT IT DID NOT FUNCTION SUCH THAT I COULD SCHEDULE SUCH A REPAIR. THIRD, I TRIED EMAILING SUBARU. AS OF THIS WRITING I HAVE HAD NO RESPONSE. FINALLY, I TRIED CALLING THE SUBARU 800 NUMBER. THEY WERE UNABLE (OR UNWILLING) TO PROVIDE INFORMATION TO EFFECT THE REPAIR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE AT A RED LIGHT, THE ENGINE REVVED UP. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND DROVE TO THE RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND LATER WAS TOWED TO SCHUMACHER SUBARU LOCATED AT (3021 OKEECHOBEE BLVD, WEST PALM BEACH, FL 33409) AND WAS DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 87,145.
MY 2013 SUBARU OUTBACK HAS THREE OPEN RECALLS, NUMBERED 19V009000 (AIRBAG), 18V626000 (PARKING BRAKE), AND 16V694000 (WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR). SUBARU OF AMERICA HAS TOLD ME, WITHIN THE PAST WEEK, THAT THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE OF THE AIRBAG. I LIVE 138 MILES FROM THE NEAREST SUBARU DEALER. I HAVE GIVEN SUBARU TWO QUOTES, REQUESTED BY THEM, INCLUDING CONTACT INFORMATION AT TWO COMPANIES, FOR TRANSPORTING THE CAR TO THE NEAREST DEALER, RIMROCK SUBARU IN BILLINGS, MT. SUBARU OF AMERICA REFUSES TO CONTACT OR MAKE ARRANGEMENTS WITH THE TWO COMPANIES AND REFUSES TO SCHEDULE THE REPAIRS UNLESS I PAY IN ADVANCE, APPROXIMATELY $1,700.00, FOR ROUND TRIP TRANSPORTATION AND CAR RENTAL, TO GET THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND BACK. SUBARU TOLD ME, IN AN EMAIL TODAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2020, FROM [XXX] OF SUBARU CUSTOMER SERVICE, "MY ABILITY TO ASSIST IS ON A REIMBURSEMENT BASIS. THERE IS NO WORKAROUND FOR THIS." DATE OF EVENT: 01/11/2020 TIME OF EVENT: 14:00 WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MERGE ONTO INTERSTATE 84 OUR 2013 SUBARU OUTBACK CHUGGED THEN COMPLETELY STALLED, REQUIRING AN EMERGENCY LANE SHIFT ONTO THE SHOULDER TO AVOID ENTERING THE BUSY FREEWAY WITH NO ENGINE POWER. LUCKILY THE CAR STARTED UP AGAIN (ALBEIT VERY ROUGHLY) AND WE WERE ABLE TO LIMP IT TO THE NEXT EXIT TO A LOCATION TO BE TOWED. THIS WAS A VERY INTENSE AND SCARY SITUATION THAT THANKFULLY ENDED IN NO INCIDENT. UPON RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM IT APPEARS THIS STALLING ISSUE IS NOT UNCOMMON YET SUBARU DOES NOTHING TO CORRECT IT. THIS WAS A NEAR MISS THAT I ATTRIBUTE TO A RECALL THAT SHOULD HAVE ALREADY OCCURRED VOLUNTARILY BY THE OEM.
I NEED TO PUT A QUART OF OIL EVERY 250 MILES. I DID AN OIL CHECK WITH GRAYSON SUBARU KNOXVILLE TN, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE CAR WAS FINE.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V001000 (AIR BAGS) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE OCEAN SUBARU LOCATED AT 1100 S. EUCLID ST, FULLERTON, CA 92832, BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT HE WOULD RECEIVE AN EMAIL WHEN A LOANER VEHICLE WAS AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT RECEIVED THE EMAIL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
THE CAR LOOSES POWER TO THE POINT WHERE IT OCCASIONALLY STALLS WHEN I DECELERATE AND COME TO A STOP OR JUST BEFORE THE STOP. I REPLACED THE BATTERY AS IT WAS ON ITS WAY OUT ANYWAY AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. I DON'T THINK IT HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE ALTERNATOR AND I HAVEN'T BROUGHT THE CAR TO A DEALER OR MECHANIC YET. BUT WANT TO RAISE THE FLAG ON THE ISSUE I'M HAVING BECAUSE I'VE SEEN LOTS OF FORUMS WHERE OTHER FOLKS ARE EXPERIENCING A SIMILAR ISSUE.
ON A FREEZING DAY IN NOVEMBER 2019, WHILE RUNNING AN ERRAND FIRST THING IN THE MORNING, MY 2013 SUBARU OUTBACK REVVED AND TRIED TO ACCELERATE WHEN I WAS DRIVING THAT I HAD TO PUSH THE BRAKES DOWN ALL THE WAY TO CONTROL THE SPEED. I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL WHILE PULLING UP TO A STOPLIGHT. IT QUIT REVVING SO MUCH, SO WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I PUT BACK IN DRIVE AND WAS CONTROLLABLE. I LET THE CAR SIT FOR AN HOUR AND DROVE AGAIN TOWARDS OUR LOCAL SUBARU DEALERSHIP. WHILE EN ROUTE, IT REVVED AND ACCELERATED AS BEFORE. I WAS ABLE TO PUT IN NEUTRAL AND IT QUIT REVVING. WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE DEALERSHIP, THE CAR WASN'T REVVING ANY MORE. THE SERVICE TECH SAID UNLESS IT WAS DOING IT WHEN I BROUGHT IN, THEY WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY. THE CAR HAS NOT REVVED SINCE. HOWEVER, I READ AN ARTICLE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM IN OTHER YEAR OUTBACKS AND WANTED TO MAKE THE NHTSA AWARE.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND A WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. THE WARNING LIGHT INDICATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS OVERHEATING. I NOTICED STEAM WAS COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE CAR CEASED FORWARD MOMENTUM AND CAME TO A HALT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD (CURVY AND HILLY COUNTRY ROAD). INSPECTION SHOWED TRANSMISSION FLUID GUSHING OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION. A LARGE PUDDLE JOINED WHAT I LATER DISCOVERED TO BE NEARLY TEN MILES OF TRANSMISSION FLUID TRAIL. THIS IS THE FOURTH TRANSMISSION TO GO INTO THE CAR.
WE RECENTLY HAD OUR VEHICLE SERVICE FOR THE TAKATA AIR BAG RECALL. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO US, WE FOUND A PLASTIC CLIP/FASTENER ON ONE OF THE FLOOR MATS, SEE ATTACHED PHOTOS. WE ARE LEFT WONDERING WHERE THIS COMPONENT BELONGS, ITS FUNCTION, WHETHER OR NOT THERE IS A SAFETY CONCERN, AND HOW WE SHOULD PROCEED.
I HAVE A 2013 SUBARU OUTBACK AND IT STUTTERS DRIVING BETWEEN 20-40 MPH. IT SEEMS TO LOOSE POWER WHEN DRIVING ON CITY STREETS. DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERY TIME
HAVING MAINTAINED MY SUBARU OUTBACK AT A SUBARU DEALER SINCE PURCHASE, I EXPECTED FEW MAJOR PROBLEMS. OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS, A SMALL BUZZING SOUND FROM THE TRANSMISSION HAS GROWN TO A LOUD SOUND. THE SUBARU TECH SAID MY TRANSMISSION WAS DONE. 133000 MILES AND SUBARU OFFERED $1000 TOWARD A NEW CAR OR NEW $8000 TRANSMISSION. THE CAR IS NOW WORTHLESS.
TOOK IT HOME FROM DEALER AND THE ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE WOULD NOT TURN ON. THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS ALSO BLINKING. A COUPLE DAYS LATER, ON THE WAY TO DEALER, I STOPPED AT A GAS STATION AND TURNED ON THE ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE. IT WORKED THIS TIME, BUT WHEN I GOT IN THE CAR TO DRIVE, THE ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE WOULDN'T TURN OFF. I WAS STUCK. THERE WAS NO WAY TO MOVE IT. I WAS BLOCKING THE GAS PUMP FOR ABOUT AN HOUR WAITING FOR A TWO TRUCK. TOW TRUCK DRIVER HAD DIFFICULTY LOADING VEHICLE AND TAKING OFF VEHICLE BECAUSE THE PARKING BRAKE WAS ON AND IT WAS AN AWD MEANING NONE OF THE WHEELS CAN MOVE.
ALLOY WHEELS FAILURE. THE WHEELS HAVE CATASTROPHIC FAILURE (LARGE CRACK AND HOLE IN CENTER OF RIM) WHILE DRIVING. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND THERE WERE NO POT HOLES OR DEBRIS IN HIGHWAY. LOCATION: EXIT 1, US 7 IN NORWALK CONNECTICUT. DATE/TIME: AUGUST 23, 2019 @ 6:00PM IN FULL DAYLIGHT.
2013 OUTBACK LIMITED 3.6R BOUGHT NEW AND HAS 40K MILES. ON 3 OCCASIONS OVER THE PAST 5 MONTHS, THE VEHICLE CAN'T CATCH 2ND GEAR AND REVS HIGH AND THEN A HEAVY JOLT PHYSICALLY FELT AND A LOUD CLUNK. HAVE TAKEN IT TO SUBARU SERVICE 3 TIMES AND THEY CANNOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. EVEN AFTER FLUSHING TRANSMISSION FLUID AND RELEARNING THE TRANSMISSION, AND VEHICLE DID IT THE SAME DAY DRIVING HOME AFTER PICKING THE VEHICLE UP FROM RELEARNING THE TRANSMISSION. THIS IS AGGRAVATING, STRESSFUL, AND DANGEROUS. SUBARU NEEDS TO OWN UP AND ADDRESS A KNOWN ISSUE, AND DO A RECALL.
Last summer I was driving on the interstate. I would say I was on the road for about 1.5 hours, it was a very warm day. I was going about 75 miles an hour and I had sudden total loss of power to the engine. Radio never stopped playing , no check engines lights came on and I could also maneuver the steering wheel. I thankfully was able to get to the side of the road(traffic was heavy). Once my car was almost at a stop the engine regained power. I was able to drive to my destination. No check engine lights ever came on. I took the car to Subaru dealership the next week. They could find nothing wrong with the car. They did notice a speck of debris/fuzz on the mass flow air sensor, they did change that part. Now about one year later I’m having catalytic converters issues and that needs to be changed. I wonder if it is all connected, and I also worry the loss of engine power will happen again. On a handful of occasions while driving, suddenly the car detects an object in front of the car that it believes I will hit. The beeping and object collision detection message appears on my dash. On all these occasions, there has never been on object. One time it automatic to control the vehicle before causing an accident. I don’t remember exactly when this started happening but I thankfully engaged my brakes. This happened while I was on a highway. Luckily, no car was riding closely behind me so I was able it was 2 years ago. There is an option to turn off the detection sensor, but this must be done every time the car is turned on, and I’m afraid I will forget. Moreover, the safety feature being turned off means I don’t have that feature to detect real objects. My biggest concern is that one day I’ll be driving at a higher speed, such as on a highway, and the car will detect an object, engage the brakes and cause me to be in an accident. I can make my car available for inspection upon request. I have not spoken to a local Subaru dealer or independent service center about this yet. My vehicle has not been inspection by the manufacturer, police, or insurance reps yet. No warning lamps, messages or other similar symptoms have occurred. However, this morning my car did auto-start on its own twice and this is the first time I’ve noticed this.

ONE CAR AHEAD OF ME, ABOUT 6 CAR LENGTHS AHEAD. STRAIGHT SECTION OF THE HIGHWAY. I SAW NO ROCKS, THE CAR AHEAD WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LANE, NOT GOING OFF TO EDGE WHERE THERE MIGHT HAVE BEEN DEBRIS. THE OUTSIDE TEMP AT THAT TIME READ 72 ON MY CAR. I HEARD AN EXPLODING SOUND. PULLED OVER ASAP. THE GLASS OF THE MOONROOF WAS SHATTERED AND STILL CRACKLING. LARGE OPENING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE GLASS WITH SURROUNDING GLASS SLOPED UPWARD TOWARDS THE HOLE. I SAW NO ROCK OR ANY OTHER DEBRIS BESIDES THE BROKEN GLASS. THE SLIDING UPHOLSTERED SUNROOF PREVENTED BROKEN GLASS FROM FALLING INTO THE CAR.
REAR WHEEL BEARING FAILURES. BOTH REPLACED AT 89,967 MI. DEALER ADVISES THERE IS SOME RISK IF ONE DROVE ON A LONG DRIVE, THAT OVERHEATING COULD ALLOW ENTIRE WHEEL TO FALL OFF. SOUND IS NOTICEABLE OVER 40 MPH SO MOST PEOPLE WOULD GET SUSPICIOUS AND ASK A MECHANIC.
116,700 MILES AND NEED TO REPLACE VALVE BODY. CONCERN RAISED AT 83,000 MILES BUT WAS ADVISED TO FLUSH TRANSMISSION. AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE WARNING LIGHT COMES ON EVERY SUMMER, AND CONCERN RAISED BUT WAS ONLY ADVISED TO PULL OVER AND LET IT COOL. ALSO HAVING PROBLEM WITH LOW ENGINE OIL WARNING AND NEED TO ADD 1 - 2 QUARTS BETWEEN 6000 MILE OIL CHANGE. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THE SHORT BLOCK MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED TO REPAIR THIS
WHILE GOING UP OVER THE GRAPEVINE ON I-5 SOUTHBOUND, I NOTICED THE AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED WORKING AND THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE STARTED CREEPING UPWARD. WHEN I GOT TO THE TOP, EVERYTHING RETURNED TO NORMAL, BUT I WAS CONCERNED. AFTER RETURNING HOME FROM SO. CA, AND AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS BY SUBARU OF SONORA TO RECTIFY OUR REPAIR COSTS ISSUE, IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT I CALL SUBARU OF AMERICA IN NEW JERSEY. LATER THAT DAY, I RECEIVED AN EMAIL OFFERING A 50/50 COST COVERAGE OF THE $3,636 REPAIR BILL. IN OTHER WORDS, I WOULD PAY HALF AND HALF WOULD BE PAID BY SUBARU OF AMERICA IN NJ. SOA THEN AUTHORIZED SUBARU OF SONORA, CA TO REPLACE THE CYLINDER HEAD GASKETS ONCE AGAIN (FIRST REPLACED AT 95,000 MILES) AND RELATED ITEMS/PARTS. THE WORK WAS STARTED ON 7/15/19 AND COMPLETED ON 9/3/19 WITH 133,336 MILES ON THE CAR. I HAVE A 2 PAGE RECEIPT FROM SUBARU OF SONORA FOR THIS WORK, ALONG WITH AN EMAIL FROM SOA.

FOR THE SCHEDULED REPAIR THEY TOLD ME THAT I HAD TO PUT A CREDIT CARD "ON FILE" SO THAT THEY COULD GIVE ME THE LOANER. I AM PLACED IN A SITUATION OF LOSING A DAY'S PAY OR KKEPING MY PASSENGERS IN MORTAL DANGER.. CAN THEY DISCRIMINATE AGAINST THE POOR IN ADMINISTERING A FEDERALLY MANDATED RECALL? CAN YOU DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS?

IN FEBRUARY, 2019, THE AT OIL TEMP LIGHT CAME ON. AT THAT TIME FITZGERALD SUBARU IN CLEARWATER FL (MY HOMETOWN) CHECKED OUT MY CAR AND SAID NOTHING IS WRONG. SO, I WAS DRIVING THE CAR FOR MY VACATION IN MICHIGAN AND THE AT OIL TEMP CAME ON AGAIN WITH SUBSEQUENT TRANSMISSION FAILURE. COME TO FIND OUT, THESE BAD TRANSMISSIONS ARE A KNOWN PROBLEM. THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO MAKE SUBARU DO A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED BECAUSE OF THEIR NEGLIGENCE.

WHILE DRIVING MY SUBARU OUTBACK 2013 2.5I PREMIUM MODEL, BRAKE LIGHT, CRUISE CONTROL, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING IN THE DASHBOARD. TOOK IT TO A DEALER AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS BODY VALVE FAILURE INSIDE TRANSMISSION. IT WAS FIXED (SUBARU PAID $1,500 AND I CONTRIBUTED $300 FOR THE REPAIR) BY A SUBARU DEALER. YET, TEN DAYS LATER THE SAME THREE LIGHTS WENT ON. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS DIFFERENT PROBLEMS, CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND O2 SENSORS, QUOTED $1,800. LEFT THE DEALER WITHOUT FIXING THE PROBLEMS. IT SEEMS THAT MY CAR WAS NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS TYPE OF ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. I SAW THE EXACTLY SAME COMPLAINTS POSTED BY OTHER USER IN VIRGINIA (REFER TO NHTSA ID NUMBER: 11204834).

THIS HAPPENED ABOUT A YEAR AFTER THEY REPLACED THE AIRBAG RELATED TO TAKATA RECALL. SOA HAS OFFERED 1000.00 'IN GOOD WILL GESTURE ' . SAW A RECALL IN 2015 FOR IMPREZA WAGONS THROWING OFF B1650 CODE. WAS TOLD BY SOA NOT TO DRIVE MY OUTBACK AS THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I TOTALLY AGREE, BUT ALSO THINK THAT A 6 YEAR OLD OUTBACK SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THIS KIND OF SAFETY ISSUE . I AM UNABLE TO REPAIR DUE TO THE COSTLY REPAIR AND IN MY OPINION THIS IS SUBARU'S RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX! THERE IS NO POSSIBLE WAY I COULD HAVE CAUSED THIS MALFUNCTION.

THERE ARE LONG WAITS FOR SERVICE APPOINTMENTS AND THUS SUBARU IS REMEDYING THIS PROBLEM IN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. I CALLED AND THE SOONEST THEY CAN SERVICE MY VEHICLE IS 6 WEEKS (WITH REPORTS THAT OTHER DEALERSHIPS ARE MUCH LONGER). THIS IS UNACCEPTABLY LONG WHEN THE RECALL ADVISES THAT NO ONE CAN SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT (NOT FEASIBLE FOR ME) AND WHEN THERE ARE FREQUENT REPORTS OF DEATH FROM THIS RECALL
WHEN IN REVERSE, THE REAR CAMERA DISPLAYS ON THE SCREEN AS IT SHOULD. THE PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN THE SYSTEM CONNECT VIA BLUETOOTH TO A MOBILE DEVICE, THE REAR CAMERA VIEW IS BLOCKED BY A LARGE NOTIFICATION WINDOW REPORTING THAT THE CONNECTION HAS BEEN MADE TO THE MOBILE DEVICE. THIS OBSTRUCTS THE VIEW. THE TIMING OF THIS PROCESS OFTEN OCCURS JUST AS ONE HAS STARTED BACKING UP SINCE IT TAKES 30-60ISH SECONDS TO GET SITUATED AND THEN START REVERSING AND IT ALSO TAKE ABOUT THIS MUCH TIME FOR THE BLUETOOTH CONNECTION TO ESTABLISH ITSELF. A SOLUTION COULD BE TO A) NOT DISPLAY OTHER NOTIFICATIONS WHEN THE BACKUP CAMERA IS ON THE DISPLAY, OR B) MAKE THE NOTIFICATION NOT OBSCURE AS MUCH OF THE CAMERA VIEW.
