TAKATA RECALL. I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE. IT STATES IN BOLD LETTERING TO NOT LET PASSENGERS SIT IN THE FRONT SEAT UNTIL THIS IS FIXED OR RISK DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE REPAIR COULD NOT BE FIXED UNTIL SEPTEMBER AS SUBARU IS NOT SUPPLYING THE PARTS UNTIL THEN. DOES SUBARU REALLY EXPECT ME TO NOT HAVE PASSENGERS IN MY VEHICLE UNTIL SEPTEMBER? HOW CAN THEY ISSUE THIS WARNING AND THEN NOT FIX IT FOR 6 MONTHS? IS THIS A JOKE? IS THERE ANYTHING THE NHTSA CAN DO? PLEASE LET ME KNOW, AS I APPARENTLY NOW HAVE A USELESS VEHICLE WHICH I DEPEND ON FOR TRANSPORTATION ON A DAILY BASIS. IF THERE IS SOME OTHER AGENCY I SHOULD CONTACT PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
ISSUE IS ONGOING FOR THE LAST 6 MONTHS. VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY STALLS WHEN AT IDLE AND PLACED IN GEAR. HESITATION WHEN ACCELERATING WHILE DRIVING (ACTS AS IF IT NOT GETTING ENOUGH POWER.) I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO 3 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS AND CONTACTED SUBARU OF AMERICA AND I AM NOT GETTING ANYWHERE. DEALERSHIPS CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, SO THEREFORE CAN'T DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. I HAVE VIDEO RECORDS OF THIS ISSUE OCCURRING.
TAKATA RECALL. RECALL NOTICE RECEIVED 3/15/2019. ON 3/18/2019 TOLD FIRST APPOINTMENT AVAILABLE TO PERFORM RECALL REPAIR NOT UNTIL WEEK OF 6/8/2019. 3 MONTHS AND CANNOT USE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT! CALLED 3 OTHER REGIONAL DEALSHIPS AND CIUKD NOT GET A RETURN PHONE CALL.
TAKATA RECALL RECEIVED NOTICE OF THIS RECALL ON MARCH 16. CONTACTED SELLING DEALER (LOU FUSZ SUBARU, ST. PETERS, MO) ON MARCH 18 AND THE SOONEST DEALER WOULD SCHEDULE THE RECALL REPAIR IS ON JUNE 12. A WAIT OF THREE MONTHS IS NOT A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME TO PERFORM THIS RECALL REPAIR.
"TAKATA RECALL" CALLED DEALER-(GUSTMAN SUBARU, APPLETON, WI) TRIED TO MAKE EARLY APPOINTMENT TO REPLACE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. DEALER IS SWAMPED AND MY SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT IS FOR SEPTEMBER 25, 2019, WHICH IS A LONG WAY OFF FROM TODAY MARCH 18, 2019. WANT TO MAKE SURE SOMEONE KNOWS ABOUT THE DELAY IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO ME OR MY FAMILY. CONSIDER THIS SITUATION UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!
TAKATA RECALL - CARTER SUBARU, BALLARD, SEATTLE, WA (98117) - CALLED THE DAY I RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE FROM SUBARU (3/16/19) AND THE FIRST APPOINTMENT THEY COULD OFFER ME WAS JULY 7, 2019. THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NO WAY TO GET ME IN SOONER AS THEY WERE ALREADY PROCESSING "20 RECALL APPOINTMENTS A DAY." UNTIL THEN I CANNOT USE THE PASSENGER SEAT WHICH IS NOT FEASIBLE GIVEN THAT I HAVE A DISABLED FATHER WHO IS NOT COMFORTABLE IN THE REAR SEATS. A 4 MONTH WAIT TO REPAIR A LIFE THREATENING DEFECT THAT ESSENTIAL MAKES MY CAR UNFIT FOR ITS INTENDED USE SEEMS INCREDIBLY NEGLIGENT.

WAS TOLD THAT THE EARLIEST APPOINTMENT THAT THEY HAVE TO REMEDY THIS RECALL IS JULY 25, 2019. I DO NOT FEEL THAT THIS IS TIMELY AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT CAN BE DONE TO REMEDY SOONER.

HOW AM I TO DRIVE A VEHICLE WITH MY WIFE AND KIDS IF WE CANNOT USE THE PASSENGER SEAT FOR 3 MONTHS-ABSURD. THE NOTICE SAYS HOW DANGEROUS IT COULD BE IF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG INFLATES- WHAT DOES SUBARU EXPECT ITS OWNERS TO DO FOR 3 MONTHS WHILE WE WAIT? MY DEALER IS (XXXX) IN MADISON WI. WE GOT A RECALL NOTICE ON FRIDAY, MARCH 15, 2018 CONCERNING THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG THAT SAID NO ONE SHOULD RIDE IN THAT SEAT UNTIL FIXED. WE IMMEDIATELY CALLLED FITGERALD SUBARU IN ROCKVILLE AND WERE TOLD THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE PROPER PARTS AND WE COULD NOT SCHEDULE A TIME UNTIL MAY! WHEN DRIVING OVER 40MPH THE CAR SEEMS TO JERK OUT OF THE BLUE IT EVEN SEEMS LIKE ONE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE LIFTS OR TILTS AS IF IT HAS HYDRAULICS MAKES IT HARD TO CONTROL CONTINUOUSLY GRIP THE STEERG WHEEL IN ORDER TO KEEP CONTROL IS UNBEARABLE. THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG AFTER READG ONLINE&ON THIS WEBSITE OBVIOUS SOMETHINGS WRONG. WHY R U WAITING FOR CRASHES& POSSIBLE DEATHS TO RAISE THIS ISSUE? WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEEDS ALL OF A SUDDEN YOU FEEL A QUICK PULL AS IF A MAGNET JUST PULLED YOUR CAR AND IT ALSO STARTS TO LIFT WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT NORMAL SPEEDS. CAR LIFTS THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE OF SUSPENSION AS IF IT'S GOING TO ROLL OVER AND AT THE TIME IT DROPS LIKE IT'S GOING TO FOLD UNDER AND YOU'RE GOING TO CRASH. LIKE IT HAS HYDRAULICS BUT ONLY ON ONE SIDE. THIS IS VERY SCARY WHEN YOUR DRIVING AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS MAKES YOU SLOW DOWN OUT OF NOWHERE AND CAUSING OTHERS AROUND YOU TO SUDDENLY AVOID YOU. THIS IS A NIGHTMARE. SUBARU NEEDS TO ACKNOWLEDGE THERE IS A PROBLEM. SEE ALL THE OTHER COMPLAINTS AND THERE IS A LOT MORE ONLINE BY OTHERS THAT DON'T KNOW HOW TO GO TO THIS WEBSITE AND PLACE A FORMAL COMPLAINT BECAUSE I DID NOT EVEN KNOW ABOUT IT. CAME ACROSS BY MISTAKE. THIS CAR IS MEANT FOR DRIVING LONG DISTANCES AND I AM AFRAID TO DO SO. WHEN YOUR AFRAID TO DRIVE YOUR OWN CAR SCARRED OF THE QUICK JERK AND THE POSSIBLE ROLLING OF YOUR CAR DUE TO THE "REAL" ACTIONS THE CAR IS PERFORMING WHILE DRIVING IS AND SHOULD BE A VEHICLE SAFETY CONCERN PRIOR TO ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS TAKING PLACE. JUST BECAUSE THE "MANUFACTURER" SAYS IT'S IN SPECS DOES'T MEAN NOTHG WRONG PLUS ITS THE MANUF SAYG THIS, NOT AN INDEPENDENT COMPANY.BOWEING THEIR AIRPLANE HAD HARD TIME STATING PLANE'S FAULT. YOU CAN NOT PUT THE MANUF IN CHARGE OF MAKING THE RIGHT CHOICE WHEN IT COMES TO MONEY.
AT 107K MILES MY TRANSMISSION FAILED. ONLY CERTAIN VIN #'S ARE RECALLED. MINE NOT BEING ONE OF THEM. ALTHOUGH THERE IS A KNOWN TRANSMISSION PROBLEM WITH 2013 SUBARU OUTBACKS. I HAVE TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION.
LOUD NOISE WHEN MAKING A SHARP TURN DOWN HILL TO THE RIGHT. ALSO TRACTION CONTROL/CVT FAILS ON WET SURFACE OR SNOW.
THE TRANSMISSION JERKS AND STUTTERS AND WHILE IN TRAFFIC THE CAR LOST POWER FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 SECONDS AND I WAS ALMOST HIT. IT HAPPENS AT LOW AND HIGH SPEEDS. IT HAS HAPPENED ON CITY STREETS AND THE LATEST WAS ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE ALSO HAD IT STALL COMPLETELY AT LOW SPEEDS. I'VE HAD IT IN THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES AND THEY SAY THEY CAN'T REPLICATE IT. I HAVE HAD THE TRANSMISSION FLUSHED. IT STILL CONTINUES. IT FEELS UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
DRIVER'S DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE DURING SUB-FREEZING TEMPERATURES. FRONT PASSENGER DOOR AND REAR DOORS ARE NOT AFFECTED AND OPERATE AS DESIGNED. THE DANGER, OF COURSE, IS NOT BEING ABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE WHEN SAFETY REQUIRES AN EXIT. CYCLING THE POWER LOCKS DOES NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. HAVE NOT TRIED THE BACK-UP METAL KEY THAT FITS THE EXTERIOR LOCK ONLY. DRIVER'S DOOR WILL EITHER NOT OPEN AT ALL OR MAY OPEN ONLY 3" OR SO. IF IT DOES OPEN 3", THEN REPEATED ATTEMPTS MAY CAUSE IT TO FULLY OPEN.
THIS CAR IS AN EXTREME OIL BURNER. WE HAVE TO ADD OIL EVERY 1,000 MILES. THERE WAS A LAWSUIT AND SUBARU IS OFFERING TO REPLACE THE ENGINE BLOCK, BUT OUR DEALERSHIP SAYS THE CAR CONTINUES TO PASS THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. ALSO, THE CLUTCH JUST WENT OUT AT 58,000 MILES. AFTER AN ONLINE SEARCH, I AM SEEING THIS IS TYPICAL OF THIS CAR.

BURLINGTON SUBARU (351 SHELBURNE RD, BURLINGTON, VT 05401) CONFIRMED THAT THE PART WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE AT LEAST UNTIL JUNE OF 2019 TO PERFORM THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT ON A SEVERAL OTHER OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER AUTONATION SUBARU SPOKANE VALLEY LOCATED AT 10000 E. SPRAGUE AVE, SPOKANE VALLEY, WA 99206 WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING THE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY AND SOLENOID TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED HOWEVER, NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AS OF YET. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 122,000.*DT SUBARU CONTRIBUTED $1000 TOWARDS REPAIR AND DEALER SERVICE CENTER REPLACED VALVE BODY AND SOLENOID. AFTERWARDS NOISE FROM THE TRANSMISSION WAS WORSE THAN BEFORE REPAIR AND DEALER NOW REPORTS THAT THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $9,300. SUBARU USA OFFERED ONLY $1,500 TOWARDS THIS REPLACEMENT.*DT*JB*LN*JB

I WAS DRIVING EARLY IN THE MORNING WHEN THE CAR, A 2013 SUBARU OUTBACK, STARTED TO ACT UNPREDICTABLY;REVVING AND JUMPY. I WAS SCARED TO CONTINUE DRIVING IT IN THAT STATE AND PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT. IT SEEMED CLEAR IT WOULD NOT MAKE IT UP THE 8 % GRADE HILL THAT WAS 1/4 MILE OR SO FURTHER DOWN THE ROAD. I HAD TO BE TOWED OUT OF THE LOT TO THE LOCAL SUBARU DEALER. I UNDERSTAND SUCH TOTAL FAILURE TRANSMISSION EVENTS ARE A KNOWN SUBARU ISSUE FOR MY MODEL AND YEAR. I AM VERY UPSET THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AND NOW SUBARU IS SAYING THEIR VOLUNTARY EXTENSION OF THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AND THEY WON'T PAY FOR THE NEW TRANSMISSION. THEY HAVE OFFERED $2500 IN A GESTURE OF GOOD WILL, BUT THAT WILL NOT COME CLOSE TO COVERING THE COST OF REPLACING THIS DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION. SUBARU SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL FOR THESE DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSIONS THAT WERE INCLUDED IN THE "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION" EXTENDED WARRANTY BEFORE SOMETHING DISASTROUS OCCURS.

WILSONVILLE SUBARU (9200 SW BAILEY ST, WILSONVILLE, OR 97070, (503) 946-9203) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
WAS DRIVING SOUTH ON I-5 NEAR ORLAND, CA ON 12/26/18 WHEN MY OUTBACK BEGAN SHAKING AND ATTEMPTING TO "BRAKE" (I WAS DOING BETWEEN 65 - 70 MPH). I LOOKED DOWN AND THE PARKING BRAKE SIGNAL WAS ILLUMINATED. (I HAD NOT ENGAGED THE BRAKE.) I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I DISENGAGED THE BRAKE AND RESUMED. IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND CALLED MY SUBARU DEALERSHIP, CARLSEN SUBARU, REDWOOD CITY, CA. I DISENGAGED THE BRAKE -- BUT THE BRAKE KEPT TRYING TO RE-ENGAGE. I COULD DRIVE BUT ONLY HAVE CONSISTENTLY AND CONSTANTLY MAKING SURE THE BRAKE WAS NOT ENGAGED. THE BRAKE LIGHT WOULD FLASH ON AND OFF PERIODICALLY. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP ON 12/27/18. AS SUSPECTED, THE DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS THE PARKING BRAKE MODULE. THE CHARGE WAS $185 FOR DIAGNOSIS AND ANOTHER ESTIMATED $1,250 FOR THE REPAIR. (SEE ATTACHED DIAGNOSTIC/ESTIMATE) ONE OF THE SERVICE TECHNICIANS GAVE ME THE NATIONAL SUBARU CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER -- I CALLED AND ALERTED THEM. THEY ARE INVESTIGATING. HOWEVER, LATER THAT EVENING I DISCOVERED SUBARU HAS RECALLED 27,000 2010-2014 OUTBACKS & LEGACYS WITH FAILING PARKING BRAKES. THE SUBARU RECALL IS OFFERING REPLACEMENT OR EXTENDED WARRANTY PROVISIONS DEPENDING ON WHETHER THE CAR IS MANUAL OR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION (WITH AFFECTED VIN NUMBERS). (RECALL BEGAN IN OCT 2018. I HAVE RECEIVED NO NOTIFICATION.) THE NATIONAL SUBARU REPRESENTATIVE MADE NO MENTION OF THE CURRENT RECALL TO ME. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN THIS MORNING (12/28/18)--GOT A COPY OF THE DIAGNOSIS/ESTIMATE. THE SERVICE TECHNICIANS DO NOT SEE THE RECALL IN THEIR SYSTEM WITH MY VIN NUMBER. THIS APPEARS TO BE A SIMILAR ISSUE TO OTHERS REPORTED IN THE RECALL -- SUBARU SHOULD LOOK CAREFULLY AT OTHER VEHICLES WITHIN THOSE SAME YEAR/MODEL RANGES. I FEEL THE CAR MAY BE DANGEROUS TO DRIVE.
MY ORB WAS WORKING FULL TIME THAN JUST QUIT WITH WHEELS STRAIGHT, BUT WOULD WORK WITH QUARTER TURN AND NOW WON'T WORK AT ALL
GRINDING COMING FROM TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE STALLS OR DELAYS IN THE TRANSMISSION WHEN TAKING OFF FROM STOPS. IN ONE PARTICULAR INSTANCE, THE CAR HAD SUCH A DELAY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC THAT WE COULD HAVE HAD AN SERIOUS ACCIDENT IF HUSBAND HAD NOT PULLED OVER TO GET OUT OF THE WAY. ANOTHER TIME IT DELAYED FOR OVER 20 SECONDS AT A STOP LIGHT AND SOMEONE NEARLY REAR ENDED US. 2 SEPARATE TECHNICIANS FROM TWO SEPARATE DEALERSHIPS RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT OF TRANSMISSION. DURING THEIR TEST DRIVE BOTH FELT A SHUDDER AROUND 25 MPH AND REPORTED A NOISY TRANSMISSION. OTHER DIAGNOSIS WAS PERFORMED FINDING NO OTHER ISSUES. THE ISSUE STARTED 120,000 MILES BUT TECHNICIAN SEEN UNIT AT 128,572 MILES IN WHICH HE STATED REPAIRS FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE TRANSMISSION WOULD BE BETWEEN 8,000 AND 10,000. THIS IS OUR MAIN VEHICLE AND IS UNSAFE AND UNRELIABLE TO CONTINUE TO USE.

THE CONTACT HAD BEEN WAITING OVER THREE MONTHS FOR THE PART. THE RECALL LETTER STATED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. GROOVE SUBARU (5300 S BROADWAY, ENGLEWOOD, CO 80113, (720) 279-9409) AND THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT KNOW WHEN THE PART WOULD BE AVAILABLE. IT TURNS OUT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM BY SUBARU AND AFTER TALKING TO CUSTOMER SERVICE, THEY REFUSED TO FIX THE ISSUE OWING TO THE FACT THAT IT WAS OVER 100K MILES. THEY GAVE EXTENDED WARRANTIES FOR VEHICLES BUT ONLY UP TO 100K. I THINK THAT THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN AN ACTUAL RECALL AND NOT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. ITS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN THAT SUBARU IS AWARE OF.
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE. THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AT AROUND 71,000 MILES WITH A 60,000 MILE WARRANTY. SUBARU OFFERED TO ASSIST WITH THE COST OF THE REPAIR IN THE AMOUNT OF $3,600. MUCH LATER SUBARU REIMBURSED THE FULL AMOUNT OF THE REPAIR. I BELIEVE THIS ACTION WAS TO AVOID A RECALL. THE VEHICLE IS NOW AT AROUND 131,000 MILES AND THE TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED AGAIN. SUBARU HAS OFFERED A $1,000 CREDIT ON A NEW SUBARU AS COMPENSATION. I EXPECTED AT LEAST A 60,000 MILE WARRANTY ON MY 2ND TRANSMISSION BUT SUBARU INFORMED ME THAT THE WARRANTY WAS ONLY FOR 24 MONTHS OR 24,000 MILES. I BELIEVE THAT SUBARU KNOWS THAT THESE TRANSMISSIONS ARE DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. IN MY OPINION THE ORIGINAL REPAIR BY SUBARU WAS NOTHING MORE THAN A TEMPORARY PATCH JOB AND NOT AN ACTUAL FIX FOR THE TRANSMISSION. ON BOTH OCCASIONS THE TRANSMISSION BECAME VERY LOUD WHILE DRIVING AND APPEARED TO BE IN IMMINENT DANGER OF COMPLETE FAILURE.

AT SOME POINT, DUE TO ISSUES WITH THIS MAKE AND MODELS TRANSMISSION, THE WARRANTY OF THESE VEHICLES WAS EXTENDED TO 10 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES. THIS CAR NOW IS 5 YEARS OLD AND HAS 130,000 MILES AND THE SUBARU DEALERSHIP IS SAYING THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT A PRICE TAG OF $10,000. SUBARU USA IS OFFERING TO APPLY $1500 TOWARDS THE TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT OR APPLY TOWARDS A NEW SUBARU. SUBARU USA KNOWS THAT THESE TRANSMISSIONS WERE DEFECTIVE OR THEY WOULD NOT HAVE EXTENDED THE WARRANTY. EXTENDING THE WARRANTY DOES NOT ABSOLVE SUBARU USA FROM THE RESPONSIBILITY OF INSTALLING DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSIONS. THIS 5-YEAR OLD AUTOMOBILE WITH 130,000 MILES IS NOW VIRTUALLY WORTHLESS. IT WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP, WHERE WE WERE TOLD THE SAME EXACT THING HAD HAPPENED AGAIN AND WOULD REQUIRE THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN TO BE REPLACED. THE BIGGEST CONCERN HERE IS SAFETY. THE STEERING COLUMN DROPPING WHILE THE CAR IS MOVING PUTS THE DRIVER AND ANYONE ELSE ON THE ROAD AT RISK.
