II WAS PARKED AT A FRIENDS RESIDENCE FOR ABOUT FOUR HOURS. WHEN I LEFT AND WAS STILL ON HIS DRIVEWAY I SAW THAT MY WINDSHIELD HAD A CRACK IN IT FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE PASSENGER SIDE GOING UP ABOUT A THIRD OF THE WINDSHIELD AND CONTINUING TOWARDS THE DRIVERS SIDE ABOUT TEN INCHES. THERE HAD BEEN NO IMPACT WITH ANYTHING, THE CRACK APPEARED ON IT'S OWN.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED AT THE BASE OF THE PASSENGER SIDE. CRACK OCCURRED WHILE PARKED AFTER NO (OR NO NOTICEABLE) IMPACT. CRACK EXPANDED QUICKLY OVER SEVERAL DAYS. HIGHLY UNUSUAL.
WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED
WINDSHIELD IS CRACKED.
DRIVER SIDE WINDOW WILL NOT CLOSE, WILL GO UP THAN DOWN HALF WAY. IF TRYING TO CLOSE THE WINDOW WHEN IT STARTS TO RAIN/SNOW AND IT DOES'T CLOSE CAN BE A DISTRACTION TO THE DRIVER, ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT SPEEDS OF 70MPH. THIS HAS BEEN PROBLEM SINCE I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR AND REPORTED TOO SUBARU DURING THE WARRANTY, ALSO KNOW ON THE INTERNET FOR A LONG TIME. IT DOES NOT MATTER IF STOPPED OR DRIVING.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED ACROSS THE LOWER HALF FOR NO REASON. I WAS JUST DRIVING AND IT MADE A LOUD POP AND CRACKED. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. I HAVE REPLACE THE ORIGINAL WINDOW ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND THIS ONE JUST CRACKED.
THE BATTERY KEEPS DRAINING WHEN NOT USED AND THEN THE CAR REFUSES TO START AND I NEED TO GET JUMP START. THIS CAN BE DANGEROUS IF THE CAR NEEDS TO BE MOVED URGENTLY
PHANTOM LIFTGATE OPENING. THE LIFTGATE OPENS BY ITSELF WITH THE VEHICLE LOCKED, DRAINING THE BATTERY, AND DOES NOT SOUND AN ALARM. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, AT RANDOM TIMES OF THE DAY, WITH THE VEHICLE PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY. SUBARU HAS REPLACED THE BATTERY BUT IT HAS CONTINUED TO HAPPEN. SO FAR, WE HAVEN'T HAD ANY OPPORTUNISTIC THEFTS FROM BUT WE ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THAT SINCE LOCKING THE VEHICLE SEEMS UNRELIABLE.
THE WINDSHIELD ON THIS CAR HAS CHIPPED 10+ TIMES. I HAVE NEVER HAD A PIECE OF GLASS CHIP SO MANY TIMES.
BATTERY DOES NOT CHARGE AND REQUIRES REPLACEMENT EVERY 200-300 MILES.
WE HAVE HAD 3 CRACKED WINDSHIELDS SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE ON 3/31/18. WE HAVE HAD THEM REPLACED BY THE DEALER EACH TIME AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $1100-1200 EACH TIME. EACH TIME WE HAVE BEEN DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY.
THE BATTERY PREMATURELY DRAINS WHEN DRIVEN FOR MULTIPLE SHORT TRIPS. IT ALSO DRAINS WHILE SITTING IF IT IS NOT FREQUENTLY DRIVEN FOR MEDIUM-LENGTH TRIPS.
2018 SUBARU OUTBACK, ONLY 10,500 MILES, BATTERY KEEPS DRAINING, AND FINALLY WOULD NOT CRANK THE ENGINE. THIS HAPPENED 10-24-2020 (SAT.) DEALER WHITE BEAR SUBARU WOULD NOT ANSWER HIS PHONE IN SERVICE DEPARTMENT. CALLED SUBARU ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE, THEY WOULD NOT TOW TO A SUBARU DEALER, ONLY A NEARBY INDEPENDENT REPAIR FACILITY. I REJECTED THAT, AND SINCE IT WAS THE WEEKEND, I HAD TO PURCHASE A NAPA AFTERMARKET BATTERY, EVEN THOUGH SUBARU WARRANTY WAS STILL IN EFFECT. COST ME OVER $160,00.
CAR LIGHTS CAME ON AFTER SITTING NOT RUNNING. WENT TO START THE CAR, BUT NOT ENOUGH POWER TO START IT. BATTERY LIGHT WAS ON. THE NEXT DAY, THE BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. I HAD TO JUMP START IT SO I COULD GO BUY A NEW BATTERY.
DRIVING VEHICLE SLOWLY OVER SPEED BUMP LEAVING AIR FORCE BASE. HEARD POPPING SOUND AT WINDSHIELD ON PASSENGER SIDE. DAY LATER HAD A LARGE CRACK IN WINDSHIELD. CRACK STARTED UNDER WINDSHIELD WIPER ON PASSENGER SIDE. SUBARU DEALERSHIP ADVISED WINDSHIELD CRACK NOT UNDER 3 YEAR/36000 MILE WARRANTY.
I WENT OUT TO MY CAR IN THE DRIVEWAY THIS MORNING AND THE WINDSHIELD HAD A 6 INCH "T" SHAPED CRACK STARTING WITH A SINGLE CRACK EMANATING FROM THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, HORIZONTALLY ABOUT 6 INCHES TOWARD THE DRIVER SIDE, THEN PERPENDICULAR IN A T FORMATION 3 INCHES UP AND DOWN . THE PREVIOUS NIGHT I HAD DRIVEN THE VEHICLE AND THE WINDSHIELD WAS FINE. I FOUND NO EVIDENCE OF AN IMPACT STRIKE ON THE WINDSHIELD. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY WHEN I FOUND THE CRACK. IT HAAD BEEN DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 12 HOURS EARLIER.
BATTERY CONSISTENTLY DRAINS AND CAR WILL NOT START. BATTERY IS NEW, REPLACED IN 2020. CAR HAS BEEN PARKED FOR LESS THAN 12 HOURS WHEN IT WILL NOT START. CAR HAS BEEN JUMPED, TAKEN TO DEALER WHO STATE "NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT", THEN WITHIN 1-4 DAYS USUALLY HAPPENS AGAIN. HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE 10/03/2020.
BATTERY PREMATURELY DEAD. NO CRANK, NO START.10-03-2020 PARKED IN A LOT. JUMP STARTED. TOOK TO SUBARU DEALER , TECHNICIAN INSPECTED AND FOUND BATTERY FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED AND PASSED LOAD TEST. EXTREME AMOUNT OF CORROSION ON BATTERY TERMINAL REMOVED. A FEW DAYS LATER, DID NOT START, MORE CORROSION ON BATTERY TERMINAL. JUMP STARTED. TECHNICIAN INFORMED DRIVER TO TAKE ON LONG DRIVES TO CHARGE THE BATTERY. VEHICLE WITH 14,600 MILES. LONG DRIVES IN EXCESS OF 20 MINUTES TAKEN JUST TO CHARGE BATTERY. A FEW DAYS LATER BATTERY LEFT DRIVER AGAIN STRANDED , JUMP STARTED. NEW BATTERY PURCHASED FOR $178.04.
ONE DAY IN APRIL, THE BATTERY WAS SPONTANEOUSLY COMPLETELY DEAD. AT THE TIME IT SEEMED THAT LEAF DEBRIS SHORTED THE CIRCUIT OF THE BATTERY CAUSING CONNECTIONS TO CORRODE AND THE BATTERY TO BE DESTROYED. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE BATTERY BECAUSE IT WAS WITHIN WARRANTY. THE NEW BATTERY NOW IS HAVING ISSUES WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF INSTALLMENT. WITHIN A 4 DAY PERIOD THE BATTERY HAS BEEN DRAINED 2X INEXPLICABLY (9/23/20 AND 9/26/20). THE FIRST TIME IT COULD BE JUMPED TO ALLOW VEHICLE USE, BUT THE SECOND TIME IT COULD NOT. THE SUBARU DEALERSHIP ADVISED IT IS LIKELY A BAD CELL IN THE BATTERY AND WANTS TO REPLACE THE BATTERY.
Flex joint connecting to catalytic convertor. For 3+ years, exhaust from engine coming directly into cab, coughing, nausea, burning eyes/nose/lungs/chest. Foul odor, difficulty breathing. The problem has been reproduced and diagnosed by two independent mechanics. The dealer, when initially requested to inspect expeditiously, couldn't get me out the door fast enough. The component has only been inspected by two independent mechanics. There were no warnings. I would like to add that this specific part has already been subject to Subaru Program Bulletin WUB-87, WUJ-95, and is reported by mechanics as common defective part.
A LONG CRACK FORMED FROM THE TOP LEFT SIDE WINDSHIELD HAS FORMED. WE GOT THIS CAR FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND WITHIN 15 MINUTES OF DRIVING HOME A CRACK HAD FORMED. NO INDICATION OF DEBRIS HIT. WE HEARD A SMALL POPPING SOUND AND NOTICED THE CRACK WHEN WE GOT HOME.
THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM OF THE CAR DRAINS THE BATTERY AFTER A FEW DAYS OF NOT USING THE CAR. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN JULY, 2018. THE CAR HAS A BATTERY PROBLEM FROM THE BEGINNING. FIRST TIME WHEN THE BATTERY DIED I CHARGED IT MYSELF AND I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. AT THE DEALERSHIP THEY COULDT FIND ANY ISSUE. SINCE THAT TIME THE CAR'S BATTERY DRAINED COMPLETELY SIX TIMES PREVENTING THE CAR FROM STARTING. IF THE BATTERY WAS NOT CONNECTED TO A BATTERY TENDER IT WENT COMPLETELY DEAD AFTER A FEW DAYS. LAST TIME WHEN THE BATTERY DRAINED IT COULDN'T BE CHARGED WITH A CHARGER AND ALSO THE CAR COULDN'T BE JUMPED. AFTER INVESTING IN A NEW BATTERY AND INSTALLING IT ON THE CAR THE BATTERY DRAINED AGAIN COMPLETELY AFTER A FEW DAYS WHEN THE CAR WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE AND NOT USED.
WHILE DRIVING A ROCK.. NOT A LARGE ONE, CRACKED MY WINDSHIELD WHICH ULTIMATELY PROGRESSED THROUGH OUT THE WINDSHIELD. ONE OTHER TIME A SIMILAR SITUATION OCCURRED WHEN A SMALL ROCK HIT THE WINDSHIELD CAUSING DAMAGE TO IT. I ALSO HAD A ROCK HIT THE PASSENGER SIDE ON THE SECOND ROW WINDOW WHICH COMPLETELY SHATTERED IT. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION FOR THE WINDSHIELD ON A DIVIDED HIGHWAY OCCURENCE BUT STATIONARY ON A CITY STREET WITH PASSENGER WINDOW DAMAGE.
WHEN THE POWER TAILGATE IS LEFT OPENED FOR A PROLONGED PERIOD, THE BATTERY DRAINS. THE SHORTEST HOURS LEFT OPENED WAS 4 HOURS. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THE BATTERY WAS TESTED TO BE NORMAL (RATED 550 CCA, MEASURED 504 CA, VOLTAGE 12.74V, TEMPERATURE 90F). THE INSTRUCTION PROVIDED BY THE DEALERSHIP WAS TO RUN THE CAR EVERY DAY TO KEEP CHARGING THE BATTERY. THE CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH THE MEMORY HEIGHT TO KEEP THE HATCH OPEN, AND THAT FEATURE IS USELESS WHEN THE BATTERY KEEPS DRAINING.
BATTERY IN MY 2018 OUTBACK CONTINUES TO BE DEAD WHEN I GO TO START IT AFTER SITTING OVERNIGHT. JUST TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY CALLED AND SAID THEY DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THEY ARE KEEPING IT OVERNIGHT TO SEE IF IT IS DEAD IN THE MORNING. IN THE PAST WEEK I HAVE HAD TO JUMP START THE CAR 5 TIMES BECAUSE IT WAS DEAD. JUST CALLED SUBARU AND FILED A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE PROBLEM. THIS IS MY 4TH SUBARU AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THIS.
BATTERY DIED MANY TIMES. CAR IS JUST UNDER 3 YEARS OLD, WITH 18,000 MILES STILL UNDER WARRANTY. DEALER SAID THE CAR MUST BE LEFT THAT THEY NEEDED TO TEST. THE CCA RATING IS 300 SOMETHING. A FRIEND IN COLORADO HAS A 2019 FORESTER WITH A CCA OF 620! VERY SIMILAR ENGINE, BOTH MODELS ARE TOURING. COULD IT BE THAT VEHICLES IN LESS COLDER AREAS ARE FITTED WITH INADEQUATE BATTERY CCA SO SUBARU CAN SAVE A FEW DOLLARS? ALSO THE RAB LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. HOW IS THAT OK? THE INFOTAINMENT SCREEN HAS FROZEN MULTIPLE TIMES. WHEN IT DID THE VOLUME OF THE RADIO COULD NOT BE LOWERED..I WAS PARKED WHEN IT HAPPENED, (RADIO WAS LOUD) THEN STARTED DRIVING AND COULDN'T LOWER IT.. PLEASE NOTE: THESE ELECTRICAL ISSUES OCCURRED AT DIFFERENT TIMES ... I HAVE NO IDEA IF THEY'RE RELATED
MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED FOR NO APPARENT REASON ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE CAR HAD NOT BEEN HIT BY ANYTHING, BUT HAD BEEN SITTING IDLE OVERNIGHT. THERE WAS ONLY A 15 DEGREE TEMPERATURE CHANGE SO IT WASN'T THAT.
WINDSHIELD JUST STARTING CRACKING FOR NO REASON.
The car failed to start after being left for a few minutes in a store parking lot. I had called for help, made one more attempt to start it. It started (barely) so I drove it to the dealer a few blocks away. I was told that my battery tested bad 180 CCA vs 490 specified. They replaced it under warranty (no charge). Weather was mild, not cold or hot. I had purchased the car new 2 years 5.5 months before this incident. I did not think much of it at the time, but recently learned that there were other reports of this problem with this vehicle. I have started using a battery maintainer charger once a week to keep the battery fully charged.
2018 SUBARU OUTBACK DEVEOLPED A CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD THAT ORIGINATED ON THE LOWER LEFT CORNER IN THE DE-ICER REGION. THE CURIOUS LOCATION OF THIS CRACK LED ME TO SEEK OUT WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED. I FOUND A SERVICE BULLETIN FROM SUBARU IN 2015 SUBARUS THAT SPECIFICALLY STATE "THESE TYPES OF DAMAGE WOULD ONLY BE COVERED BY THIS WARRANTY EXTENSION IF THE WINDSHIELD IS IDENTIFIED AS HAVING THE ABOVE OUTLINED CONDITION AND THE DAMAGE ORIGINATES IN THE AFFECTED WIPER DEICER AREA. OTHER FORUMS AGAIN AND AGAIN MENTION RECURRING PROBLEMS ORIGINATING IN THIS DE-ICER AREA AND QUICKLY PROPAGATING THE REST OF THE WINDSHIELD. CRACKS IN SUBARU WINDSHIELDS OFTEN RENDER EYESIGHT UNUSABLE. ADDITIONALLY THE COST TO REPLACE THESE WINDSHIELDS IS VERY HIGH AS YOU HAVE TO FACTOR IN RECALIBRATING THE EYESIGHT EQUIPMENT. I SPOKE TO SUBARU OF AMERICA AND THEY STATED THAT "THIS WAS FROM OUTSIDE INFLUENCES/IMPACT AND THERE ARE OTHER IMPACT AREAS ON OTHER SPOTS ON THE WINDSHIELD." THE REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THIS SERVICE BULLETIN/NUMEROUS OTHER SUBAR OWNERS FORUMS/UNUSUAL ARE FOR A ROCK TO HIT OR CRACK TO FORM. ALSO, THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. I AM DISAPPOINTED THAT THIS SAFETY HAZARD AS OCCURRED AND SUBARU NOT ONLY REFUSES TO AUTHORIZE REPLACEMENT, BUT THEY REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE WINDSHIELDS CRACKING.
DEAD BATTERY OVERNIGHT AND LIFTGATE RANDOM OPENING WHEN VEHICLE IS PARKED IN THE GARAGE.
BATTERY DOESN'T HOLD CHARGED WHEN PARKED OVER NIGHT. CAN'T START THE ENGINE AFTER A FEW HOUR DRIVE AND PARK OVER NIGHT. NOW I HAVE TO LET THE CAR ENGINE RUNNING FOR A FEW HOUR EVERYDAY TO KEEP THE BATTERY CHARGED UP ENOUGH TO START THE ENGINE. HAS TO JUMP THE CAR MANY TIMES ALREADY. GONNA CALL THE DEALER AND ASK WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS TOMORROW.
MY SUBARU OUTBACK 2018 TO DATE IS ON ITS THIRD BATTERY, THIRD BATTERY REPLACED 8-7-2020 IS DEAD TODAY (8-13-2020). VEHICLE PARKED IN DRIVEWAY.
IT HAPPENED IN AUGUST OF 2020. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN A GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT ON A CLEAR SUNNY DAY. IT WAS FAIRLY HOT OUTSIDE (A/C WAS RUNNING) AND I WAS SITTING IN THE CAR EATING WHEN I HEARD A POPPING/CRACKING SOUND. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS THE PLASTIC SUSHI CONTAINER I WAS EATING OUT OF BREAKING, BUT THEN I SAW A CRACK HAD FORMED AT THE TOP OF THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDSHIELD. IT CONTINUED RADIATE AND NOW IS A LONG CRACK RUNNING THE LENGTH OF THE WINDSHIELD AND IS PARALLEL TO THE ROOF LINE.
VEHICLE HAS 17,000 MILES, BATTERY HAS DIED AT LEAST 6 TIMES. BATTERY HAS BEEN FOUND DRAINED IN THE AM AFTER BEING PARKED IN GARAGE. DEALER REPLACED BATTERY AT 16,000 MILES. BATTERY PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. SUBARU TRIES TO EXPLAIN PROBLEM BY STATING INTERIOR LIGHTS ARE LEFT ON OR KEY WAS LEFT TO CLOSE TO CAR. TESTS SHOW THERE WAS NO PARASITIC DRAIN ON BATTERY. SUBARU DOES NOT WANT TO FIX OR ADMIT THE PROBLEM.
WINDSHIELD SEEMED TO SPONTANEOUSLY CRACK FROM THE TOP PASSENGER SIDE WHILE PARKED. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF ANY KIND OF IMPACT. THE CRACK PROGRESSED OVER A PERIOD OF SEVERAL HOURS, INCREASING WHILE DRIVING OR WITH TEMPERATURE CHANGES. THIS IS THE SECOND WINDSHIELD IN 2 YEARS DUE TO SPONTANEOUS CRACKING, AND IT IS LESS THAN A YEAR OLD.
SIX MONTHS AFTER BUYING MY 2018 OUTBACK THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED DOWN BY THE DEFROSTER. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF AN IMPACT. I REPLACED IT WITH SUBARU GLASS BECAUSE OF THE EYESIGHT SYSTEM. COST WAS $1000. ONE YEAR LATER ANOTHER CRACK APPEARED AT THE TOP MIDDLE PART OF THE WINDSHIELD. THERE IS EVIDENCE OF A SMALL DING. THE WINDSHIELD SEEMS PARTICULARLY FRAGILE AND I UNDERSTAND OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE REPLACE THREE OR FOUR WINDSHIELD IN 40 YEARS OF DRIVING OTHER CARS BUT NOW HAVE TWO IN LESS THAN TWO YEARS ON THIS CAR. CAR IS OTHERWISE GREAT BUT CLEARLY THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE WINDSHIELD.
THE WINDSHIELD MYSTERIOUSLY CRACKED ON THE LOWER THIRD OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AND IMMEDIATELY SPIDERED OUT IN ALL DIRECTIONS LIKE A STARBURST EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS SITTING BY ITSELF IN BROAD DAYLIGHT IN A LOWE'S PARKING LOT. THERE ARE NO CHIPS/GOUGES ON THE GLASS SURFACE ON EITHER THE INTERIOR OR THE EXTERIOR OF THE WINDSHIELD (WHICH MIGHT SUGGEST AN IMPACT). THE GLASS APPEARS TO HAVE CRACKED ON THE INSIDE OF THE DOUBLE PANE WINDSHIELD FOR NO APPARENT REASON OTHER THAN MANUFACTURING OR DESIGN DEFECT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, SHE NOTICED THE FRONT WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE FRONT WINDSHIELD CRACKED WITHOUT IMPACT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MILLER SUBARU (1592 NJ-38, LUMBERTON, NJ 08048, (609)267-4000) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE WINDSHIELD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED HOWEVER, NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
SECOND OCCURRENCE OF THE PROBLEM IN LESS THAN A WEEK. REPLACED ORIGINAL BATTERY ON 7/24/2020 (SEE COMPLAINT NUMBER 11341827). BATTERY DRAINS FOR NO REASON, LEAVING BATTERY DEAD AND CAR INOPERABLE. CAR WAS STATIONARY ON DRIVEWAY. COULD NOT START IT, SO CHECKED BATTERY WHICH WAS DEAD 0 VOLTS.
DEFECTIVE FRONT WINDSHIELDS. THE ORIGINAL HAD A LEGITIMATE CRACK FROM A ROCK HITTING IT. THE FIRST & SECOND REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELDS (SUBARU BRANDED) BOTH CRACKED STARTING FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE ABOUT MIDWAY UP. THE FIRST REPLACEMENT CRACKED AT SLOW SPEED AFTER PULLING AWAY FROM THE CURB. THE SECOND CRACKED AFTER PARKING AND CLOSING THE DRIVERS DOOR. BOTH CRACKS IMMEDIATELY SPREAD LATERALLY ACROSS ALMOST HALF OF THE WINDSHIELD IN THE DRIVERS LINE OF SIGHT. THE ORIGINAL WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED ON 4/3/2019 AND THE FIRST REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED ON 11/4/2019. THIS SECOND REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELD CRACKED ON 7/24/2020. NEITHER OF THESE LAST TWO CRACKED WINDSHIELDS WAS CAUSED BY ROCK OR DEBRIS HITTING THEM.
WE WERE GETTING READY TO LEAVE TO THE STORE AND GOT IN THE CAR AND TRIED TURNING IT ON AND WHEN WE INSERTED OUR KEYS AND TRIED TURNING ON THE CAR-THE CAR WOULD NOT START AND ALL WE COULD HEAR WAS A CLICKING CLACKING SOUND COMING FROM INSIDE THE HOOD. WE TRIED STARTING THE CAR AGAIN AND WE ENCOUNTERED THERE'S THE SAME ISSUE, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AT ALL. WE WENT IN OUR OTHER VEHICLE STRAIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO LET THEM KNOW THAT OUR CAR OF 2 YEARS WOULD NOT START AT ALL AND THEY INFORMED US IT MIGHT BE A BATTERY ISSUE AND THAT WE SHOULD CALL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE FOR FURTHER HELP. WE ASKED IF OUR BATTERY WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T KNOW IT ALL DEPENDED ON THE MILEAGE AND WE INFORMED THEM THAT OUR CAR WAS A BRAND NEW 2018 MODEL WITH UNDER 21,000 MILES. THEY AGAIN SAID IF IT WAS A BATTERY ISSUE BEST BET WAS TO REPLACE WITH THEM AND THAT IT WOULD BE FOR A FEE OF $200 OR MORE.
BATTERY DRAINS FOR NO REASON, LEAVING BATTERY DEAD AND CAR INOPERABLE. CAR WAS STATIONARY ON DRIVEWAY. COULD NOT START IT, SO CHECKED BATTERY WHICH WAS DEAD 0 VOLTS.
THE STEERING SOMETIMES LOCKS WHEN CAR IS OPERATING IN REVERSE, TURNING OUT OF A PARKED POSITION. EXACT CAUSE IS UNKNOWN. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS PROBLEM IN MID-MARCH AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETECT THE FAULT. TODAY I ENCOUNTERED THE SAME STEERING LOCK WHEN BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND TURNING RIGHT TO GET ONTO THE STREET.
BATTERY DRAINS FOR NO APPARENT REASON WHILE PARKED OVERNIGHT IN DRIVEWAY.
THE TOUCH SCREEN ON MY RADIO/HEAD UNIT INTERMITTENTLY FREEZES. WAS TOLD BY DEALERSHIP SERVICE IT IS LIKELY DUE TO BLUETOOTH, AND TETHERING INTERFERENCE BECAUSE THEY BOTH TRY TO CONNECT. DEALER RESET THE RADIO, AND I HAVE NOT CONNECTED THE BLUETOOTH AT ALL AFTER THE RESET. YET AGAIN SAME PROBLEM. THIS HAS BEEN REPLACED ONCE DUE TO THE RECALL AND CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. IT STILL HAS ISSUES. THERE ISN'T ANY REAL TIME FRAME WHEN IT DOES THIS JUST RANDOMLY TURNS NON-RESPONSIVE ON THE MAIN TOUCH SCREEN. THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE TIME THIS HAS OCCURRED, AND HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALER 2 OR 3 TIMES NOW.
MY 2018 SUBARU OUTBACK HAS BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THE BATTERY AND THE CAR NOT STARTING. IT SEEMED TO HAVE STEMMED FROM THE LIFTGATE WORKING IMPROPERLY AND DRAINING THE BATTERY. IT HAPPENED ABOUT A YEAR AGO, BUT SELF-RESOLVED AFTER RESETTING LIFTGATE AND JUMP STARTING CAR. RECENTLY, ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO, IT STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH THE LIFTGATE AND BATTERY AGAIN AND WAS LEFT STUCK AT A SHOPPING CENTER PARKING LOT UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO GET ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WITH A JUMPSTART. I BROUGHT IT TO SUBARU IN FAIRFIELD, CA, WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS A LIFTGATE ISSUE THAT WAS DRAINING THE BATTERY. THEY RESET THE LIFTGATE AND THEN CHARGED THE BATTERY AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. TODAY 6/6/2020, MY CAR HAD DIFFICULTY STARTING AGAIN, TOOK A FEW TRIES TO START, THOUGH THERE WERE NO ISSUES WITH THE LIFTGATE. I BROUGHT IT TO SUBARU FAIRFIELD, CA AGAIN, WHERE THEY SAID THERE WAS A BATTERY FAILURE, I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY FOR A REPLACEMENT, AND WOULD BE CHARGED FOR A NEW BATTERY EVEN THOUGH THEY SAID THAT THEY KNOW THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH A NUMBER OF RECENT SUBARU OWNERS WITH BATTERY ISSUES. DOING RESEARCH ONLINE, IT SEEMS LIKE IT IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE, LEAVING OWNERS STRANDED RANDOMLY AND NEEDING A JUMP START, AND THAT BATTERY REPLACEMENTS ARE NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM, AS THE ELECTRICAL DRAINING ISSUE IS STILL THERE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON INSPECTION IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE UPPER RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE GLASS WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE CRACK WAS APPROXIMATELY 5 INCHES LONG AND WAS LOCATED ON THE INTERIOR SECTION OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
AFTER REPLACING THE WINDSHIELD ONCE WITH OEM GLASS. IT CRACKED AGAIN, IN ROUGHLY THE SAME PLACE AS BEFORE (BOTTOM MIDDLE OF WINDSHIELD). THIS IS THE SECOND WINDSHIELD IN LESS THAN 2 YEARS! SUBARU CLEARLY HAS A PROBLEM WITH THEIR GLASS OR CLEARANCES AROUND THE GLASS. THIS ONE CRACKED WHILE SITTING IN A CARIBOU PARKING LOT. WE WERENT EVEN MOVING. NO ROCK CHIPS, NOTHING HIT THE WINDOW. ALL THE SUDDEN HEARD A "POP" NOISE, THEN SAW THE CRACK.
WHEN I PARK MY CAR IN THE GARAGE ON THURSDAY JULY 2ND AND CLOSE THE GARAGE WITH NO PROBLEM. ON JULY 4TH MY WIFE OPEN THE GARAGE AND GOT A CHAIR FROM HER CAR ACURA RDX AND WATCH THE FIREWORKS ON THE DRIVE WAY. LATER ON PUT THE CHAIR BACK IN HER ACURA AND CLOSE THE GARAGE. SUNDAY AFTERNOON I HAD TO GO TO THE GARAGE AND GET TOOLS TO FIX THE BATHROOM SINK AND SAW THE SUBARU OUTBACK HATCHBACK OPEN. I THEN FOUND THE SUBRARU OUTBACK BATTERY DEAD AND THE HATCHBACK ALL SCRATCHES. MY WIFE ONLY HAS HER ACURA CAR FOB, THE OTHER SUBRARU HANGING ON A CLOSET DOOR. MY SUBRARU KEY FOB IS IN MY WORK COMPUTER BRIEFCASE. DEFINITELY NOBODY TOUCH THE SUBRARU FOBS. HOWEVER, I ONLY DRIVE THE SUBRARU OUTBACK TO WORK ( VANPOOL MEETING LOCATION) ABOUT 4 MILES FROM MY HOUSE AND USUALLY ABOUT 5 MINUTES ONE WAY. THE CAR UNABLE TO STARTUP AFTER THE INCIDENT.
