THE HEAD UNIT HAS FAILED AND FROZEN SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, FUNCTIONS LIKE SMARTPHONE INTEGRATION, NAVIGATION, AND BACKUP CAMERA STOP WORKING. THIS OCCURS WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. FUNCTIONALITY RETURNS AFTER CAR RESTS FOR SEVERAL HOURS. DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIX THE ISSUE WITH SOFTWARE UPDATES. *TR
DURING VEHICLE OPERATION, BOTH STATIONARY AND IN TRAFFIC, THE DRIVER WINDOW INTERMITTENTLY DOES NOT CLOSE NORMALLY. UPON ACTIVATION TO RAISE THE WINDOW WHEN IN OPEN POSITION, IT RISES ONLY PARTWAY, THEN BOUNCES BACK DOWN. ONLY AFTER REPEATED EFFORTS, USING MULTIPLE MANEUVERS OF THE POWER CONTROL, SOMETIMES REQUIRING PULLING OVER ON THE HIGHWAY SO AS NOT TO FURTHER DRIVE DISTRACTED, CAN ONE FINALLY RAISE THE WINDOW. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IN THAT IT REQUIRES DRIVER ATTENTION DURING VEHICLE OPERATION. IT IS ALSO A HAZARD WHEN NEEDING TO CLOSE THE WINDOW RAPIDLY TO AVOID DUST, DEBRIS, WEATHER PRECIPITATION, OR STRANGERS APPROACHING THE VEHICLE. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER TO FIX IT ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS AND EACH TIME ARE TOLD THAT 1) NOTHING WAS WRONG (AGAIN, IT IS AN INTERMITTENT ISSUE THAT WE HAVE DOCUMENTED WITH VIDEO 2) IT WAS SOFTWARE-RELATED AND THAT THEY UPDATED IT TO FIX IT AND 3) IT WAS THE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR AND ASSEMBLY (REPLACED TWICE). NONE OF THESE EFFORTS HAVE SOLVED THIS ISSUE AND THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN FORTHCOMING WITH A REASONABLE SOLUTION OVER THE PAST 2+ YEARS WHILE WE ARE APPROACHING OUR WARRANTY EXPIRATION.
NORMAL DRIVING 45 MPH HIGHWAY AND WITHOUT REASON THE WINDSHIELD STARTED TO CRACK ABOUT ONE INCH THEN KEPT GETTING LONGER ABOUT 20 MINUTES LATER THE CRACK WAS ABOUT 8 INCHES LONG. *TR
I HAVE HAD MY OUTBACK FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS. IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS, I HAVE EXPERIENCED 4 CRACKED OR BROKEN WINDSHIELDS. I AVOID DRIVING BEHIND TRUCKS/SEMIS BUT THE SMALLEST ROCK OR ANYTHING SEEMS TO HAVE DISASTEROUS RESULT OF BULLSEYE/CRACK ETC. I HAVE HAD MY WINDSHILED REPLACED TWICE AND NOW IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED A THIRD TIME.
I HAVE BEEN SUFFERING FROM REPEATED WINDSHIELD CRACKS, IN A VARIETY OF ROAD CONDITIONS, WITH THIS VEHICLE. BETWEEN MY OWN CAR, AND LOANER VEHICLES OF THE SAME YEAR/MODEL, I HAVE HAD 5 WINDSHIELDS CRACK IN LESS THAN 30,000 MILES. MOST INSTANCES I DID NOT SEE ANY DEBRIS IMPACT THE VEHICLE. ON ONE OCCASION I WAS TRAVELLING UNDER 10 MPH, WITH NO OTHER VEHICLES ON THE STREET, WHICH RESULTED IN THE LARGEST 'BULLSEYE' I'VE EXPERIENCED, NEARLY 3" ACROSS. I DID NOT SEE ANY OBJECT IMPACT THE CAR, AND EVEN STOPPED TO INSPECT THE ROAD FOR DEBRIS THAT I DID NOT FIND. MY CURRENT VEHICLE HAS THREE DISTINCTLY SEPARATE CRACKED SECTIONS THAT OCCURRED ON SEPARATE OCCASIONS. ONE ONE INSTANCE, THE NEAREST VEHICLE WAS ALMOST 1/4 MILE AHEAD OF ME AS WE WERE BOTH TRAVELLING STRAIGHT AT ABOUT 65MPH. THE LATEST WAS WHILE ON AN INTERSTATE ENTRANCE RAMP, WITH LIGHT TRAFFIC, AND UNDER 50MPH AT THE TIME OF THE CRACK. I DID NOT SEE ANYTHING IMPACT THE VEHICLE.
THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED OUT OF NOWHERE AND SPREAD QUICKLY. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN WE ENTERED THE CAR AND NOTICED A LONG CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD. I NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN TO A WINDSHIELD BEFORE. THE CRACK KEEPS GROWING FOR NO REASON.
WINDSHIELD EXPERIENCED SERIOUS MULTI-FINGERED CRACK, ORIGINATING IN THE TOP CENTER PORTION OF THE WINDSHIELD, WHERE THE 'EYESIGHT' CAMERAS ARE LOCATED. NO KNOWN CONTACT BY OBJECT FROM ROAD. APPEARED TO BE SPONTANEOUS. NOT CERTAIN IF VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION OR STATIONARY- DIDN'T NOTICE IT UNTIL ENTERING VEHICLE IN THE MORNING.
WINDSHIELD CRACKING WHILE DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE 80. *TR
CAR WOULD NOT START, CLICKING NOISES CAME FROM THE FUSE PANEL LOCATED INSIDE VEHICLE TO THE LEFT OF THE STEERING WHEEL WHICH WE NEVER HAD HEARD BEFORE, NO PRIOR INDICATION OF LOW VOLTAGE OR BATTERY DISCHARGE. EVENTUALLY RED BATTERY ICON DISPLAYED BRIEFLY ON INSTRUMENT PANEL. UNABLE TO START, HAD TO GET A TOW, JUMP UNSUCCESSFUL.FORTUNATELY CAR WASPARKED AT HOME IN THE GARAGE. LIGHTS WERE NOT LEFT ON NOR WERE DOORS OR LIFTGATE AJAR.
THE CAR WINDSHIELD SUDDENLY CRACKED ON ITS OWN WITHOUT ANY EXTERNAL OR INTERNAL IMPACT WHILE PARKED. THE CRACK STARTED FROM THE TOP ON PASSENGER SIDE AND EXTENDED VERTICALLY TO THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD. THIS CRACK IMPAIRED THE ABILITY OF THE EYESIGHT DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEM TO FUNCTION PROPERLY CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LOSE SAFETY CRITICAL FEATURES LIKE FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE AND LANE KEEP ASSIST.
BATTERY IS COMPLETELY DRAINING WITHOUT CAUSE AND REQUIRES JUMP START. CAR BATTERY DRAINS AFTER NOT DRIVING FOR A LITTLE AS 3 DAYS. VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A GARAGE AND ON THE STREET. SUBARU MAINTENANCE VERIFIED THAT NO LIGHTS WERE LEFT ON. STATES BATTERY IS GOOD AND I JUST HAVE TO START AND DRIVE EVERYDAY. *TR
LIKE MANY OTHERS, MY WINDSHIELD STARTED CRACKING IN 2 SEPARATE PLACES. ONE LONG CRACK FROM JUST ABOVE THE WIPER BLADE SPANNING 18 INCHES, AND ANOTHER ONE THAT STARTS FROM MIDWAY UP ON THE PASSENGER SIDE ABOUT 2 FEET LONG THAT ALMOST LINKS UP WITH THE OTHER ONE. WINDSHIELD WAS NOT STRUCK AND JUST OCCURRED WHILE IN MY DRIVEWAY AND GARAGE IN FLORIDA.
BATTERY WAS DEAD IN MAY 2020. PURCHASED NEW BATTERY 5/28/2020. NEW BATTERY WAS DEAD 6/4/2020. NEW BATTERY HAD LASTED ONLY 7 DAYS. *TR
THE VEHICLE'S ORIGINAL BATTERY DIED AFTER ONLY 30 MONTHS OF USE. I TRIED TO START THE CAR ONE MORNING, AND IT WOULD NOT START. A NEW BATTERY FIXED THE PROBLEM. THIS HAPPENED DURING A PERIOD WHEN THE CAR WAS DRIVEN FOR SHORT TRIPS ONLY A COUPLE OF TIMES A WEEK, DURING THE EARLY PART OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC SHUTDOWN. I AM REPORTING THIS BECAUSE OF OTHER REPORTS OF A POSSIBLE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM IN SUBARUS THAT HAS CAUSED BATTERIES TO FAIL EARLIER THAN THEY SHOULD HAVE FAILED.
VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT HOME IN MY GARAGE. BATTERY WAS DRAINED. AAA HAD TO BE CALLED TO BOOST. BROUGHT TO DEALER ON JUNE 3, 2020. THEY CHECKED BATTERY. BATTERY TESTED FINE. SITUATION OCCURRED AGAIN ON (SUNDAY) JUNE 7, 2020, AGAIN AT HOME IN MY GARAGE. DEALER IS CLOSED ON SUNDAY. WILL CALL ON MONDAY TO DISCUSS PROBLEM. NO ELECTRICAL ACCESSORIES WERE LEFT ON TO CAUSE THIS PROBLEM ON EITHER DAY.
SOMETHING IN THE CAR IS CONSTANTLY DRAINING THE BATTERY. NO LIGHTS OR OTHER SYSTEMS ARE ON BUT WHEN THE CAR SITS FOR A COUPLE DAYS WITHOUT STARTING, THE BATTERY DRAINS. WE HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY TWICE AND IT KEEPS HAPPENING. *TR
THE CAR WAS PARKED IN AN END SPACE PARKING. WHEN I RETURNED THE WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. NO MARKS, DINGS OR DENTS ARE NEAR OR AROUND THE CRACKED WINDSHIELD.
Repeated battery failures. Two battery replacements and battery still is not holding a charge. First battery replacement at 17,120 miles - 5/30/2020 Second battery replacement on 21,300 miles - 2/20/2021 Latest, battery died on 8/22/2021 with about 24,000 miles. Had to be jumped.
DEAD, DRAINED BATTERY- NO RESPONSE FROM CAR, UNABLE TO EVEN OPEN WITH KEY FOB. CAR PARKED IN GARAGE AT HOME. *TR
MY RELATIVELY NEW SUBARU FAILED TO START, AND HAD NO ELECTRICAL POWER AT ALL. THE OEM BATTERY WOULD NOT CHARGE WITH A HOME CHARGER, BUT WAS ABLE TO START WITH A JUMP FROM AAA. AT SUBARU OF BEND, THEY STATED THE BATTERY HAD NOT FAILED, BUT THAT SUBARU'S ARE PROGRAMMED NOT TO CHARGE THE BATTERY BELOW 40 MPH. THEY INSTALLED A SOFTWARE CHANGE THAT REMOVED THAT "FEATURE" SINCE WE USE THE VEHICLE PRIMARILY, BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY, FOR AROUND TOWN DRIVING. THIS NON-CHARGING IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE THE FAILURE TO START OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING, NOR WOULD ANY REASONABLE PERSON EXPECT A CAR NOT TO CHARGE THE BATTERY WHEN DRIVING PREDOMINATELY ON LOCAL TRIPS. THERE WAS NO WARNING OF THIS "FEATURE" AND IF THE CAR FAILED TO START IN A REMOTE LOCATION, THIS COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE. WE DO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO TRAILHEADS IN THE NATIONAL FOREST AND WILDERNESS AREA'S, AND SUBARU ADVERTISES ITS PRODUCTS, SUCH AS THE OUTBACK, AND BEING SUITABLE FOR BACK ROADS DRIVING. *TR
SUBARU OUTBACK 2018 HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE RESIDUE LEAK FROM THE WINDSHIELD NEAR THE EYE SIGHT IT HAPPENED TWICE TO MY VEHICLE FIRST TIME WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE THEY SAID IT MIGHT BE A LEAK FROM THE GLUE IN EYESIGHT AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE EYESIGHT MIGHT BE LOOSE AND THEY HAVE TIGHTEN IT AND SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED AND THEN THEY SAID NO NO THE EYESIGHT DOESN'T HAVE ANY GLUE AND THIS IS COMING FROM SOME GLUE USED IN THE WINDSHIELD. SUBARU DOESN'T SEEM TO BE WORRY ABOUT IT AND ALL THEY SAY IS THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. THIS ISSUES STARTED HAPPENING IN THIS SUMMER WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS EXTREME HOT THE GLUE WHAT THEY USED TO STICK THE WINDSHIELD TO THE BODY OF THE CAR MELTS AND IT COMES OUT WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ALL THEY SAY IS WE ARE NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE. CONTACTED SUBARU CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY SAID WE HAD OUR MASTER TECHNICIAN HAD A LOOK AT THE CAR AND THE FIELD ENGINEER THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO SEE THIS AS AN ISSUE. WHEN I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW CAR FROM SUBARU AND WITH IN 2 YEARS THE GLUE IS MELTING BECAUSE OF HEAT NOT SURE WHAT KIND OF CAR SUBARU MANUFACTURES. THE SUPERVISOR FROM SUBARU CUSTOMER SERVICE DOESN'T SEEM TO HAVE ANY CONCERN ON THE ISSUE AND KEEP SAYING WHEN WE ARE NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE ITS NOT OUR CONCERN. I AM GETTING SCARED IF THE GLUE CAME OUT AND THE WINDSHIELD BREAKS OR CRACKS WHEN I AM DRIVING WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE SAFETY OF ME AND MY FAMILY. I TOOK IT TO 2 SEPARATE DEALERSHIPS. SUBARU OF AMERICA AND COLONIAL SUBARU. SUBARU AMERICA SAID IT MIGHT BE A LEAK FROM THE GLUE OF THE WINDSHIELD AND COLONIAL SUBARU SAID THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM. *TR
WHILE PARKED INDOORS A FRONT WINDSHIELD CRACK FIRST APPEARED ON LOWER DRIVERS SIDE OF WINDSHIELD. NO SIGN OF BEING STRUCK BY PROJECTILE. *TR
CAR WAS SITTING IN DRIVEWAY FOR ONE WEEK. DROVE MY CAR,CITY STREET, TURNED ON AIR CONDITIONER, WINDSHIELD STARTED CRACKING OUT OF NOWHERE, FROM MIDDLE OF PASSENGER SIDE, THE CRACK TURNED UP HALFWAY AND STOPPED HALFWAY THROUGH WINDSHIELD. NOTHING HIT THE WINDOW. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THERE WAS A POINT OF IMPACT. THE DEALER TOOK A PUSHPIN AND PUSHED IT INTO THE WINDSHIELD TO SHOW ME. I ARGUED THAT SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL AND DEALER SAID THAT IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY. I ARGUED THAT NOTHING HIT MY WINDSHIELD AND THEY SAID THAT SOMETHING DID. *TR
THIS MODEL HAS SEVERE BATTERY DRAIN ISSUES. I HAVE HAD TO REPEATEDLY JUMP OR CHARGE THE BATTERY AFTER JUST A SHORT PERIOD OF THE LIFT GATE OR SIDE DOORS BEING OPEN. THE LIGHTS ARE TURNED OFF BUT THEY STILL DRAIN THE BATTERY. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE IN AN "OUTDOOR" VEHICLE. YOU CANNOT TAILGATE, USE THE LIFT GATE TO MAKE A TENT, KEEPS DOORS OPEN WHEN UNLOADING. SUBARU GIVES YOU AN UNDER-POWERED CHEAP BATTERY AND HAS THE DRAIN ISSUE. I CANNOT USE THE CAR AS MARKETED. I FINALLY GOT FED UP WITH THE ISSUE SO FAR AND PURCHASED MY OWN LARGER BATTERY. SOA HAS AGREED TO PAY FOR THIS, BUT THE UNDERLYING ISSUE NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED. I SUSPECT ON THE LIFT GATE THERE IS POWER CONTINUALLY FLOWING TO IT WHEN OPEN SO IT IS READY TO CLOSE WHEN YOU PUSH THE CLOSE BUTTON. THIS NEED A KILL SWITCH. MY BEHAVIOR WITH THIS CAR IS NO DIFFERENT THAN OTHER CARS IN THE PAST AND THEIR BATTERIES DID NOT DIE. THIS IS NOT USER ERROR, BUT A BAD DESIGN. THE WEB IS FULL OF SIMILARLY FRUSTRATED OWNERS. I'LL PUT THE LAST DATE I HAD TO CALL AAA, BUT THIS HAS HAPPENED REPEATEDLY SINCE I HAVE OWNED IT. EVEN AN HOUR OF THE LIFT GATE OPEN SEEMS TO SEVERELY DRAIN THE BATTERY. MY PARENTS HAVE A 2016 AND I DON'T THINK THEY HAVE THIS ISSUE? THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IF YOU GET STUCK SOMEWHERE IN THE WILD WITH A DEAD CAR. *TR
MY CAR WAS PURCHASED IN APRIL OF THIS YEAR. WITHIN THE FIRST FEW WEEKS A CRACK APPEARED ON THE TOP RIGHT OF THE WINDSHIELD. A COUPLE MONTHS LATER ANOTHER CRACK APPEARED IN THE BOTTOM MIDDLE OF MY WINDSHIELD. ADDITIONALLY, THERE IS A SMALL CRACK ON THE DRIVER SIDE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD. NONE OF THESE WERE CAUSED BY ANY OBJECTS THAT I OBSERVED HITTING THE WINDSHIELD, BUT MAYBE A SMALLER ROCK HIT THE WINDSHIELD AT SOME POINT WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY.
THE CAR HAS 19065 MILES AND WILL NOT START BECAUSE THE BATTERY IS DEAD. THE CAR WILL START WHEN JUMP STARTED FOLLOWING THE MANUAL PROCEDURES. HOWEVER THE BATTERY IMMEDIATELY DISCHARGES WHEN ENGINE IS TURNED OFF. WHEN THE BATTERY IS DISCONNECTED FROM THE CAR THE VOLTAGE IS 12.65 BUT WHEN THE BATTERY IS RECONNECTED TO THE CAR THE VOLTAGE DROPS TO 5.75 INDICATING THERE IS A LOAD ON THE BATTERY WHEN THE CAR IS IN THE OFF MODE. WHEN RUNNING OR DRIVING THE BATTERY WARNING LITE IS NOT DISPLAYED. *TR
WINDSHIELD CRACK UNDER WIPERS ON PASSENGER SIDE. CAR WAS PARKED IN DRIVEWAY FOR 2 DAYS. UNDER STAY IN PLACE ORDERS. 2 CRACKS ABOUT 1 INCH APART, NO SIGN OF IMPACT. CRACK BECAME A LONG LINE INTO THE DRIVER VIEW. WHILE DRIVING FOR 1/2 MILE. CALLED SUBARU AND MENTIONED THAT NOTHING HIT CAR. THEY SAID NO PROBLEMS WITH WINDSHIELDS HAVE BEEN RECORDED.
SUBARU OUTBACK 2018, WAS PARKED IN A GARAGE, RARELY DRIVEN FOR LAST TWO MONTHS. CAME TO THE GARAGE IN THE MORNING AND FOUND A LONG SINGLE-LINE CURVY CRACK STARTING AT THE DRIVE EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD AND GOING HORIZONTALLY FOR ABOUT HALF OF THE WINDSHIELD.
MY WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED STARTING AT THE VERTICAL EDGE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THERE WAS NO EVENT THAT CAUSED THIS. IT JUST HAPPENED ONE DAY. I'M BARELY DRIVING MY CAR BC OF THE PANDEMIC SO I'M ASSUMING IT HAPPENED WHEN IT WAS STATIONARY.
THE BATTERY IN MY 2018 SUBARU OUTBACK HAS DIED 3 TIMES IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. THE FIRST TIME I WAS PARKED CLOSE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND AFTER JUMPING AND TESTING THE BATTERY HE DEEMED IT DEAD AND REPLACED IT. 2 MONTHS LATER, WHILE PARKED AND IDLING AS I WAITED FOR MY HUSBAND AT AN APPOINTMENT, THE CAR SHUT DOWN AND WENT DEAD. IT WOULD NOT RESTART, BUT AFTER I WAITED A FEW MINUTES IT RESTARTED. A MONTH AGO AS I WAS DRIVING ABOUT AN HOUR FROM HOME, ALL THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WENT ON AND THE SAFETY (EYESIGHT) SYSTEM DISABLED. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY AND ALSO TOLD THEM ABOUT THE DEAD BATTERY AND ASKED THEM TO CHECK THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FOR A DRAIN. THIS MORNING (EXACTLY ONE MONTH SINCE DEALER SERVICE) THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AGAIN. AFTER JUMPING IT AND STARTING THE CAR I DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR LIFTGATE WILL NOT WORK. I HAVE TRIED FROM INSIDE THE CAR, OUTSIDE USING THE BUTTON ON THE LIFTGATE AND REMOTELY WITH THE KEY FOB, NOTHING. AFTER A A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH I SEE THAT THIS BATTERY DRAIN IS A COMMON COMPLAINT WITH THIS MODEL/YEAR AND THAT SUBARU JUST REPLACES THE BATTERY RATHER THAN ADDRESS THE UNDERLYING PROBLEM. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE, I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT WHETHER MY CAR WILL START EVERY TIME I GET IN IT.
CAR WAS NOT USED FOR 5 DAYS AND HAD DEAD BATTERY.
OVER THE LAST 6 MONTHS I HAVE GOTTEN 6 ROCK CHIPS THAT HAVE COME FROM DRIVING ON GROUND ROADS AT SPEED OF NO MORE THAN 40 MPH SOME WERE FROM BUGS OR DIRT CLODS. ONE CHIP HAS RESULTED IN A BREAK GOING UP THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDOW AND WILL SOON BE IN THE EYESIGHT SYSTEM. THE CRACK HAPPENED WHILE SITTING IN A SHELTERED PARKING LOT DURING A WARM 75 DEGREE DAY. *TR
After filling the vehicle with gas, the vehicle was able to start but with only enough power to drive at 15-20 miles per hour. I drove directly to the Subaru dealer (at 15 miles per hour) where they diagnosed a "bad cell" in the battery. They sold me and installed a replacement battery which resolved the problem. The vehicle was 2 years old with 42,581 miles on it at the time. There were no warnings prior to this incident and the vehicle and faulty battery were not inspected by anyone other than the mechanics at the dealership.
WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED FROM BOTTOM AT FRAME UP
MY SUBARU OUTBACK 2018 WINDSHIELD CRACKED AGAIN AFTER JUST A FEW WEEKS INTO GETTING IT PREVIOUSLY REPLACED. THE SAME THING HAPPEN AS THE PREVIOUS TIME, A VERY SMALL ROCK CAUSED A HUGE CRACK TO THE WINDSHIELD GOING AT MODERATELY SLOW SPEED ENTERING THE FREE WAY. SUBARU REPLACED THE FIRST ONE FREE OF CHARGE BECAUSE THEY KNEW AN ONGOING CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WAS IN PLACE, BUT STATES THAT ANY FURTHER ISSUES WILL BE OUT OF MY POCKET. THE WINDSHIELDS THAT ARE BEING PROVIDED AS REPLACEMENTS ALL HAVE THE SAME ISSUES OF CRACKING VERY EASILY. *TR
KEYLESS ACCESS SYSTEM HAS ISSUES. SEVERAL TIMES I HAVE FOUND THE CAR UNLOCKED AND / OR WITH THE REAR HATCH DOOR APPROXIMATELY HALF WAY OPEN. I'VE NOTICED ALSO THAT SOMETIMES OTHER PERSON FOB INTERFERING WITH MY CAR. 2X WHEN I'VE BEEN PARKED WITH ENGINE OFF THE ALARM SYSTEM WOULD START BLARING FOR NO REASON. ALL THESE INCIDENTS HAPPENED WITH THE CAR PARKED AND ENGINE OFF.
PURCHASED THIS CAR IN FEB 2018. DESPITE THE PANDEMIC OF 2020, MILEAGE IS SOMEWHAT SIMILAR, DRIVING TRIPS ARE SIMILAR SINCE GETTING THE CAR. THE BATTERY HAS BEEN DYING OVER AND OVER SINCE EARLIER THIS YEAR (FEB/MARCH 2020) FOR NO APPARENT REASON. ON MANY OCCASIONS, AFTER SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY FOR A FEW DAYS, A WEEK, A DAY - THE BATTERY WOULD BE DEAD. BROUGHT IT TO SUBARU AND THEY TOLD ME SOME CRAP ABOUT NOT DRIVING IT FOR PERIODS OF TIME COULD CAUSE THIS (A WEEK?!). THEY TESTED MY BATTERY AND SAID IT WAS BETTER THAN PERFECT. NOW IT'S GOING BACK IN TO THEM BECAUSE IT IS STILL HAPPENING AND NOW THEY ARE CLAIMING IT'S DUE TO LOW MILEAGE. THEY KNOW MORE ABOUT THIS THAN THEY ARE LEADING ON AND ARE BLAMING THE VEHICLE OWNERS' DRIVING HABITS INSTEAD OF GETTING TO THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM.
WINDSHIELD CRACKS WITHOUT ANY APPARENT IMPACT. STARTS FROM THE EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD AND CRACK EXPANDS INWARD. REPLACED A COUPLE MONTHS AGO FOR SAME ISSUE AND ALREADY HAVE 2 CRACKS IN THE NEW WINDSHIELD.
WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED FROM DRIVER'S SIDE ABOUT 4 INCHES TOWARD CENTER. I ACTUALLY WITNESSED THE CRACK SUDDENLY APPEAR WHILE HEARING A CRACKING SOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT THE TIME; I WAS DRIVING AT 65 MPH ON A SMOOTH STRETCH OF HIGHWAY.
WINDSHIELD SUDDENLY CRACKED ABOUT 18" WHEN STATIONARY. HAD TO HAVE IT REPLACED.
WAS DRIVING HOME FROM GETTING DINNER ON A SIDE ROAD NEAR HOME (40MPH ZONE), NO OTHER CARS ON THE ROAD, NOTHING HIT THE WINDSHIELD, AND IT STARTED TO CRACK FROM THE BOTTOM MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD. THERE WERE NO CHIPS, THE CAR WAS ONLY 6MO OLD. NO DRASTIC TEMPERATURE CHANGES OR ANYTHING. BELIEVE WHAT ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE ARE SAYING. I HAVE NEVER SEEN GLASS CRACK OUT OF NOWHERE LIKE THIS. I REALLY HOPE THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS STICK AS THERE IS CLEARLY AN UNDERLYING ISSUE.
TRAVELLING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT FREEWAY SPEED, A TRUCK KICKED UP A ROCK WHICH HIT THE WINDSHIELD. IT CREATED A CHIP LESS THAN THE SIZE OF A QUARTER. WITHIN ONE HOUR IT STARTED CRACKING TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT OF THE CHIP. I HAVE NEVER HAD A ROCK CHIP SPREAD LIKE THIS. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN AN EASY REPAIR. NOW THE WINDSHIELD IS CRACKED ALMOST THE ENTIRE LENGTH. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THE SAFETY FEATURES IN THE WINDSHIELD MAY NOT WORK EFFECTIVELY NOW. I AM ALSO CONCERNED THAT CRACK WILL CONTINUE TO SPREAD AND INHIBIT MY VISION.
I HAVE A 2018 SUBARU OUTBACK (LESS THAN 2 YEARS OLD). DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND HEARD A GLASS CRACK. THEN I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A LARGE WINDOW CRACK STARTING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD (DRIVER SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER) AND CURVING UPWARDS TOWARDS THE CENTER. PULLED OVER TO CHECK, AND THERE WAS NO SIGNS OF OBVIOUS ROCKS HITTING THE WINDSHIELD WHERE THE CRACK APPEARED. I RECALL DRIVING IN THE MORNING AND AS THE WEATHER WARMED UP THE WINDOW CRACK OCCURRED. NOT SURE IF TEMPERATURE MAY HAVE CAUSED THIS, BUT IN ANY CASE THE WINDSHIELD SHOULD NOT BE CRACKING ON ITS OWN WITHOUT OBVIOUS SIGNS OF IMPACT BY OBJECTS. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A DEFECTIVE WINDSHIELD ISSUE.
ON ROUTE 6 WAS TRAVELING BEHIND A TRUCK AND HAD ROAD DEBRIS THROWN AT THE WINDSHIELD CAUSING PUTTING AND ONE WITH SPIDER CRACKS RADIATING FROM IT.
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, I DROVE OVER A BUMP. THE WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A LONG CRACK STARTING AT THE LEFT EDGE. THE CRACK CONTINUES UP AND TO THE RIGHT CROSSING IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER'S VIEW AREA.
WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A CRACK ON THE TOP PASSENGER SIDE, I DO NOT RECALL ANY ROCKS OR DEBRIS HITTING THE WINDSHIELD. NEXT MORNING THE CRACK GREW TO OVER HALF THE WINDSHIELD. OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS THE CRACK HAS GROWN TO COVER 85% OF THE WINDSHIELD HORIZONTALLY, ALMOST IN A COMPLETE "U" SHAPE.I NOW HAVE TO DECIDE TO SPEND THE ~$1,000 TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD OR DRIVE WITH THE CRACK. AFTER READING ALL THE COMPLAINTS ON 2ND CRACKS, I'M HESITANT. THE DRIVER SEAT HAS A VERY ANNOYING SQUEAK WHEN GETTING IN/OUT AND WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. SOME DAYS IT'S WORSE THAN OTHERS, AND IT DOESN'T SEEM TO MATTER WHAT THE CURRENT WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE.
REAR TRAILING ARM SNAPPED RENDERING VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE - THE REAR TRAILING ARM SNAPPED. IT LOOKS APPARENT IT WAS SLOWLY FAILING AS SOME PARTS OF THE FRACTURE ARE RUSTED OUT. THE PART NUMBER IS 20250AL02A. THESE PARTS WERE DESIGNED WITH VERY THIN WALLS AND MAY BE THE REASON WHY IT FAILED. I GOT LUCKY THAT THE VEHICLE WAS JUST OFF THE HIGHWAY BEFORE I HEARD A CLUNKING NOISE, BRAKING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WOULD HAVE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO FLIP OVER AS THE VEHICLE WAS NOT STABLE AT ALL DURING THE FAILURE. HERE ARE SOME PHOTOS OF THE FAILURE. THESE PHOTOS WERE TAKEN THE DAY OF THE FAILURE, FEBRUARY 8TH, 2020.
2018 SUBARU OUTBACK HAS HAS A CRACK IN WINDSHIELD IN FEB. AND AGAIN IN SEPT. 2020 I CONTACTED THE DEALER IN BOONE, N.C. AND WAS TOLD THEY DO NOT FIX THEM THERE AND WOULD HAVE TO SEND IT OUT FOR REPAIR AND THEY WOULD NEED IT FOR 3-4 DAYS. I COULD NOT WAIT THIS LONG SO TOOK IT TO SAFELITE GLASS IN BRISTOL, TN. I DO NOT KNOW HOW THIS HAPPENED AND JUST NOTICED IT ONE MORNING. ABOUT SEVEN MONTHS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED IN ALMOST THE EXACT SAME SPOT. THIS SEEMED VERY UNUSUAL TO ME AND I JUST SAW THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH 2017-2020 YEARS. THIS COST ME $500.00 FOR BOTH REPAIRS.
I WAS DRIVING ON A 2 LANE HWY GOING ABOUT 50MPH WHEN I SPOTTED A SMALL STAR CRACK IN THE BOTTOM, MIDDLE OF MY WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK HAS CONTINUED TO GROW, MOSTLY HORIZONTAL OVER THE NEXT 2 WEEKS. THE WEATHER WAS MILD, ABOUT 55 DEGREES AND THERE WAS NO ONE DRIVING IN FRONT OF ME.
THE KEY GOT STUCK IN THE IGNITION, AND THE VISOR ON PASSENGER DOES NOT SWING CORRECTLY, THE RADIO TURNS ON WHEN I START THE CAR EVEN AFTER THE RADIO WAS TURNED OFF
