THE CAR HAD ONLY 6817 MILES ON IT WHEN WE BOUGHT IT ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO. THE CAR RAN FINE WHEN IT WAS DELIVERED, BUT TODAY, AFTER FINALLY REGISTERING AND RECEIVING THE NY PLATES (DELAYED BY COVID-19), WE TRIED TO START IT AND NOTHING HAPPENED. CHECKING THE BATTERY WITH MY VOLTMETER INDICATED ONLY 4 VOLTS REMAINING. THIS IS AFTER JUST SITTING IN OUR DRIVEWAY FOR THE PAST THREE WEEKS NOT USING THE CAR AT ALL. EITHER THE BATTERY IS FAULTY OR SOMETHING IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS SLOWLY DRAINING THE BATTERY.
WHEN STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION ON 9/27/2020, THE WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED. NEITHER MY WIFE NOR I SAW ANYTHING PHYSICALLY STRIKE THE GLASS.
WINDSHIELD ON 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK WITH APPROXIMATELY 10000 MILES CRACKED WITH CRACK EXTENDING INTO THE FIELD OF VISION. WHILE DRIVING ON A LOCAL HIGHWAY, THE WINDSHIELD WAS APPARENTLY HIT BY A SMALL STONE IN THE LOWER LEFT CORNER OF THE WINDSHIELD BELOW THE WIPER CAUSING A VERY SMALL CHIP THAT COULD ONLY BE FELT WITH A FINGERNAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND UPON RETURNING, A CRACK HAD SPREAD DOWNWARD TO THE EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD AND UP AND TO THE LEFT ACROSS THE FIELD OF VISION. UPON INVESTIGATING, WE FOUND MANY REPORTS OF RECENT MODELS OF SUBARU SUV'S EXPERIENCING WINDSHIELD CRACKING, PARTICULARLY IN THIS AREA OF THE WINDSHIELD WITH EITHER A VERY MINOR IMPACT OR EVEN NO IMPACT. A SUBARU TSB WAS ISSUED IN 2015/2016 COVERING THIS PROBLEM BUT IT APPEARS THE ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN FIXED IN MODEL YEARS FROM 2017 TO 2019.
I BOUGHT THE CAR IN JULY 2019 THE TOURING MODEL IN MAY THE CAR WAS DEAD A TOW COMPANY CAME GOT IT STARTED. THE NEXT DAY DEAD AGAIN THIS TIME IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. I'D HEARD FROM THE TOW GUY A CLASS ACTION SUIT ABOUT THE BATTERY. NOW SEPTEMBER 25 ALL BACKED TO GO FOR A WEEKEND EVENT WITH DOG, DEAD. WE UNPACKED LOADED A DIFFERENT CAR. SUBARU IS SAYING THEY NO NOTHING ABOUT IT AND IT'S PROBABLY MY DRIVING HABITS. THEY ASSUME I DON'T DRIVE MUCH IT'S NOW GOT 17K ON IT. I'M GOING TO BE TRAVELING ALL OVER WITH MY DOG TO SOME AREAS THAT ARE REMOTE. EVERYONE IS LEARNING OF THE ISSUE AN NOW I CAN'T SELL IT IN GOOD FAITH AND IT'S WORTHLESS TO TRADE. EACH TIME IT'S DIED IT'S BEEN IN THE GARAGE.
Windshield made a sound that sounded like it was hit by a rock or pebble, yet no car was around for a rock or pebble to cause it to fly through the air. The windshield cracked at around the edge of the windshield and within a couple of minutes, the crack extended to around 12 inches. After an hour, the crack extended to across the majority of the windshield. This is the 3rd windshield that had to be replaced. Either the windshield has extensive stresses or it's manufactured too weak and can cause a safety hazard.
WINDSHIELD SEEMED TO SPONTANEOUSLY CRACK WHILE DRIVING ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET AT LESS THAN 20 MPH. I HEARD A POP, THOUGH I DID NOT SEE ANYTHING HIT THE WINDSHIELD, AND A CRACK ABOUT 22 INCHES LONG IMMEDIATELY APPEARED ON THE LEFT SIDE OF WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK IS ABOUT HALFWAY UP, AND STARTING ON THE LEFT EDGE. UPON INSPECTION THERE IS A VERY TINY CHIP, ABOUT THE SIZE OF A POPPY SEED, NEAR THE EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD, BUT NO OTHER EVIDENCE OF THE WINDSHIELD BEING HIT WITH A ROCK OR OTHER OBJECT.
THE BATTERY DIED WITHOUT WARNING ON SEPTEMBER 17. THE CAR WAS JUMPED AND BROUGHT TO DEALER. DEALER SAID TESTED BATTERY AND FOUND TO BE 477 CCA. DID NOT REPLACE BATTERY. THEN ON OCTOBER 16TH THE BATTERY DIED AGAIN. THIS TIME CORROSION AND LEAK FOUND ON POSITIVE PART OF BATTERY. TOOK TO THE SAME DEALER, TOLD BATTERY WAS INDEED BAD AND REPLACED BATTERY. THERE IS NO WARNING OF LOW VOLTAGE IN BATTERY.
THE BATTERY CONTINUALLY DIES ON THIS VEHICLE. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS JUST A FEW WEEKS AFTER WE PURCHASED IT, BRAND NEW. WE'VE OWNED THE CAR FOR ABOUT A YEAR (AND IT ONLY HAS AROUND 6,000 MILES) AND THE BATTERY HAS DIED 4 TO 5 TIMES. MOST TIMES WE CAN JUMP IT OR THE DEALERSHIP DOES. THIS TIME THE BATTERY IS DEAD AND CANNOT BE JUMPED. THE DEALER REFUSES TO LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE FURTHER, OTHER THAN BY RECHARGING THE BATTERY. WE'RE HOPING TO GET IT REPLACED THIS TIME.
I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE SINCE LATE MAY 2019 AND I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE 4 WINDSHIELDS DUE TO CRACKS THAT DEVELOPED FROM BOTH MINOR ROCK STRIKES AND WHEN NOTHING HAS DAMAGED IT.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE HAD OCCURRED 3 TIMES SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 16,985.
STOP AT A LIGHT SOME TIMES WHEN THE GREEN LIGHT COME ON AN THE VEHICLE IN FRONT MOVE THE VEHICLE ACCELERATE AND NOT ONLY AT RED LIGHTS SOME TIMES WHEN FOLLOWING VEHICLES MY VEHICLE SLOW DOWN AND WHEN THE OTHER VEHICLE MOVE MY ACCELERATE BY HIMSELF
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, A PEBBLE HIT THE FRONT WINDSHIELD AND CRACKED ABOUT 10 INCHES OF THE PASSENGER SIDE GLASS. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE MATERIAL OF THE WINDSHIELD WAS NOT SAFE. THE CONTACT CALLED AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO PROVIDED A QUOTE FOR GLASS REPAIR. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,500.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED TOO EASILY (ON ROAD) FOR A VEHICLE MARKETED FOR "OFFROADS". NO COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUES FOR THE VEHICLE. NO RECALLS OR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FROM SUBARU USA.
THE CAR WAS PURCHASED CERTIFIED PRE OWNED WITH LESS THAN 20000 MILES. AFTER I GOT MY FIRST CAR WASH NOTICED THOUSANDS OF PIT IN THE WINDOW. THEY HAD IT SUPER COVERED WITH A COMPOUND THE WASH TOOK OFF. NOW FOR NO REASON A HUGE CRAKE WENT THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD! WARRANTY OF COURSE WON'T COVER IT. WHAM!!! $$1000 REPAIR! I HAVE HAD CAR LESS THEN THREE MONTHS.
The contact owns a 2019 Subaru Outback. The contact stated while the vehicle was stationary at a traffic light, a crack developed at the center of the front windshield. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the front windshield to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but on 12/24/2021, he had experienced the failure for a second time. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000.
WE BOUGHT OUR 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK IN MAY, 2019. BEFORE WE HAD 1000 MILES, A ROCK HIT THE WINDSHIELD AND CRACKED IT. FIRST REPLACEMENT/RECALIBRATION. THE VEHICLE WAS SITTING IN THE GARAGE IN FEBRUARY 2020 WHEN I NOTICED A CRACK ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. A SECOND REPLACEMENT/RECALIBRATION. THIS MORNING (8/24/2020) WHEN I GOT IN MY CAR IN THE PARKING LOT TO RETURN HOME FROM MD VA I NOTICED MY THIRD CRACKED WINDSHIELD. I WILL BE REPLACING IT SOON. I HAVE COMPREHENSIVE COVERAGE THROUGH GEICO, SO I HAVE NO OUT-OF-POCKET EXPENSES, BUT I BELIEVE THAT SOMETHING MUST BE LACKING IN THE DESIGN OR QUALITY OF THE WINDSHIELD TO HAVE IT CRACK THREE TIMES IN 15 MONTHS.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED ON ITS OWN (CLEARLY NO POINT OF IMPACT). STARTED AT THE BASE OF THE WINDSHIELD, ABOUT 3 INCHES TO THE RIGHT (PASSANGER) SIDE OF THE MIDLINE. PROPAGATED THROUHGOUT THE WHOLE WINDSHIELD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
THE BATTERY DIES CONSTANTLY. I'VE HAD IT FOR JUST OVER A YEAR AND THE BATTERY HAS FAILED 4 TIMES.

THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO DRIVE TO HIS RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT CALLED LOCAL DEALER ROYAL MOORE SUBARU LOCATED AT 1326 SE ENTERPRISE CIR, HILLSBORO, OR 97123, (503) 640-5660, AND MADE THEM AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,510.
DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AND MY SUNROOF EXPLODES. THERE WERE NO CARS AROUND. NO INDICATION OF SOMETHING HITTING IT, ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING I HAD A LARGE CARGO ROOF BOX COVERING THE WINDSHIELD. IF SOMETHING DID HIT IT, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN AN IMPOSSIBLE ANGLE TO CLEAR THE ROOFBOX BUT ALSO NOT MAKE ANY OTHER MARKS ON MY CAR? I HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR TWO WEEKS. THANKFULLY HAD THE SUNSHADE CLOSED BECAUSE IF NOT, GLASS WOULD HAVE EXPLODED INTO THE CAR AND ONTO ME DRIVING AS WELL. NOW THE GLASS WAS SPEWED OVER THE INTERSTATE AND I HAVE AN OBVIOUS UNLOCKED ENTRY POINT INTO MY CAR. WHEN IT EXPLODED, IT SOUNDED LIKE A SHOTGUN BLAST. I THOUGHT I WAS BEING SHOT AT.
BATTERY FOUND DISCHARGED ON AT LEAST 4 OCCASIONS (8/18/20..3/2/21). CAR HAS LESS THAN 11000 MILES ON IT.
THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START IT WAS PARKED OVERNIGHT IN MY GARAGE AND WAS NOT DRIVEN FOR PAST 48 HOURS. 2ND TME THIS HAS HAPPENED. DEALERSHIP SAYS COULD NOT DETECT ANY PROBLEM FIRST TIME I BROUGHT IT IN TO THEM. THE LIGHTS ON THE CAR DO NOT WORK EITHER. NOTHING WORKS ON CAR TODAY. CAR HAS 13, 000 MILES ON IT AND IT IS A 2019 OUTBACK. VEHICLE IS STATIONARY PARKED IN MY GARAGE.
CRACKED WINDSHIELD STARTING AT THE DRIVER'S SIDE EDGE AND CONTINUING OVER 50% OF THE WINDSHIELD HORIZONTALLY. VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY DURING THIS TIME.
The contact owns a 2019 Subaru Outback. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the battery drained. The contact replaced the battery; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to file the complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 19,000.
I HAD MY WINDSHIELD REPLACED IN MARCH 2019. GOT A ROCK CHIP IN THE REPLACED WINDSHIELD FIXED UNDER THE WARRANTY PROGRAM THROUGH SUBARU. THREE DAYS LATER I COME OUT AND THE FIXED CHIP SPREAD A FOOT ACROSS MY WINDSHIELD AND IS RAPIDLY GROWING. SUBARU IS NOT TAKING OWNERSHIP OF WEAK/FAULTY GLASS AND THE FRAME THAT THE WINDSHIELD IS INSTALLED INTO. I HAVE HAD TWO OTHER VEHICLES FOR OVER TEN YEARS THAT NEVER HAD A CRACKED WINDSHIELD, LET ALONE A ROCK CHIP THAT VIOLENTLY SPREADS. I DID NOT PURCHASE A NEW VEHICLE TO SPEND $1000+ ON A REPLACEMENT EVERY YEAR.
FRONT WINDSHIELD IS CRACKED IN SAME LOCATION, TWO SEPARATE EVENTS, OVER A PERIOD OF 4 WEEKS. EACH TIME THE CRACK APPEARS TO ORIGINATE IN THE TOP CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD AND THEN THE CRACK MIGRATES TO THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD.
WHILE CAMPING IN A SEMI-REMOTE LOCATION, OUR BATTERY DIED, REQUIRING A LENGTHY PROCESS TO GET A JUMP START. THE ONLY DRAW ON THE BATTERY HAD BEEN MODERATE USE OF THE LJFTGATE THE EVENING BEFORE. ADDITIONAL EXPENSES INVOLVED A HOTEL STAY AND PURCHASE OF A JUMP BATTERY FOR PEACE OF MIND FOR THE REST OF OUR TRIP. WE DID HAVE TO USE THE JUMP BATTERY DURING THE NEXT COUPLE DAYS TO BE ABLE TO START THE CAR IN THE MORNING.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED WHILE THE CONTACT WAS APPROACHING A STOP SIGN. AN UNKNOWN DEALER WAS CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 12,600
CONSTANT SMELL WHEN USING WINDSHIELD WIPERS (FRONT) AND WASHING FLUID. HAVE BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES THEY ASSURE ME IT IS NORMAL. I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR WITH THIS ISSUE. I BELIEVE THERE IS A LEAK SOMEWHERE THAT IS CAUSING THIS ISSUE AND IT MAY BE A DESIGN FLAW.
BATTERY DRAINS AND IS DEAD AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS IF NOT STARTED OR DRIVEN
UNINTENDED ACCELERATION EVENT WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKE AT SLOW SPEED, PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT. BRAKING FORCE WAS UNABLE TO OVER COME THE ACCELERATION. FORTUNATELY NO INJURIES OR DAMAGE. A SCARY SITUATION, CONFIDENCE LOST IN THE VEHICLE.SUBARU NORTH AMERICA CLAIMS "THE VEHICLE IS SAFE AND OPERATING AS DESIGNED."
THE WINDSHIELD RANDOMLY CRACKED AFTER SPRAYING THE WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID ON IT. THE CRACK CONTINUED TO GROW BIGGER THROUGHOUT A COUPLE DAYS AND REACHED A LENGTH OVER 1 FOOT BY THE SECOND DAY. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN IT WAS SPRAYED WITH THE WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID.
WHILE HEADING HOME FROM A TRIP DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY 69 IN MICHIGAN OUR WINDSHIELD DECIDED TO START CRACKING. WE DID NOT HEAR ANY IMPACT WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE OCCASIONAL BUG. OF COURSE TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE IMMEDIATE RESPONSE WAS.A ROCK OR FOREIGN OBJECT HAD IMPACTED THE WINDSHIELD. WRONG. I HAVE ALWAYS FEARED WHEN GETTING HIT BY A ROCK THE WINDSHIELD WOULD CRACK. MY WIFE ACTUALLY WITNESSED THE CRACKING PROCESS THINKING AT FIRST IT WAS RAIN AGAIN HITTING THE WINDSHIELD. WITHIN 200 MILES THE CRACK ESCALATED FROM A COUPLE INCH CRACK TO ALMOST A 2 FOOT CRACK STARTING TO MAKE A U-SHAPE AROUND THE EYE-SIGHT CAMERA SYSTEM. I WOULD HATE TO THINK A BUG'S IMPACT WOULD CAUSE SUCH DAMAGE.
THE FRONT WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY DEVELOPED A LARGE CRACK, NECESSITATING A REPLACEMENT OF THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. THE PROBLEM WAS FIRST NOTICED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY, BUT SINCE THE CRACK WAS ON THE LOWER PART OF THE WINDSHIELD, IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE CRACK OCCURRED WHEN THE CAR WAS STATIONARY AND IT JUST WASN'T NOTICED UNTIL THE CAR WAS IN MOTION.
The windshield abruptly cracked at the top middle without any impact while driving at highway speed
I I HAVE A 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK LIMITED WITH APPROXIMATELY 16,700 MILES ON IT. PURCHASED IN 11/2018. WHEN I GO AND LOWER THE PASSENGER WINDOW, PUTTING IT BACK UP ON THE ONE TOUCH AUTO FUNCTION IT WILL GO TO THE TOP AND THEN BACK DOWN HALFWAY. THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW SWITCH BECOMES INOPERATIVE. I HAVE TO RAISE IT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE SWITCH SLOWLY TO GET THE WINDOW CLOSED AGAIN. THIS APPEARS TO HAPPEN AFTER THE CAR IS RUNNING FOR 30 MINUTES OR MORE AND HOT OUT. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS NOW. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT FOR NEXT WEEK AT THE SUBARU DEALER TO LOOK AT IT.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. STARTED AT THE BASE OF THE WINDSHIELD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND GRADUALLY CONTINUED TOWARD THE CENTER. IF IT CONTINUED IT COULD AFFECT MY DRIVER VISION AND THE "EYE SIGHT" SAFETY SYSTEM. I TOOK IT TO SAFELIGHT FOR REPLACEMENT. THEY MENTIONED THAT THEY WOULD ONLY REPLACE IT WITH AN AFTERMARKET BRAND. THE SUBARU WINDSHIELD WAS TOO THIN (THEIR OPPINION BASED ON PREVIOUS REPAIRS).
MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING WITH MY GRANDDAUGHTER AND WAS HIT FROM THE REAR, TOTALING MY 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK. BOTH MY DAUGHTER AND GRANDDAUGHTER REPORTED HITTING THE DASHBOARD OR THE WINDSHIELD. NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND THE DRIVER'S HEADREST ENDED UP ON THE DRIVER'S LAP. AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT, THE FRONT AUTO WAS ABOUT TO START FORWARD OR HAD STARTED FORWARD WHEN THE SIGNAL LIGHT HAD JUST TURNED GREEN.. THE POLICE REPORT IS ATTACHED, WITH A LETTER FROM THE MERIDIAN, IDAHO POLICE DEPARTMENT. MY CONCERNS ARE 1) SHOULD THE AIRBAGS HAVE DEPLOYED AND 2) SHOULD THE DRIVER'S HEADREST HAVE DETACHED FROM THE SEAT? IF THE DRIVER'S CONTACT INFO IS NEEDED, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
SINCE PURCHASING USED, JUNE 2020, THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM DRAINED THE BATTERY DEAD. BATTERY WAS REPLACED THE FIRST TIME BUT IT HAS OCCURRED A SECOND TIME SINCE.
I WAS DRIVING ON A SIDE STREET WITH NO CARS AROUND AND MY WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED RIGHT NEAR THE PASSENGER SIDE WIPER (BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD) AND IT GREW INTO 3 LONG CRACKS THAT ARE OVER A FOOT LONG. I HONESTLY DO NOT BELIEVE A PEBBLE HIT MY WINDSHIELD BECAUSE NO CARS WERE AROUND ME. IN READING ONLINE IT SEEMS LIKE MANY OWNERS OF SUBARU OUTBACKS HAVE HIT THE EXACT SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR WINDSHIELD CRACKING IN THE EXACT SAME SPOT.
THE FIRST WINDSHIELD FROM MANUFACTURER WAS REPLACED BECAUSE OF A CHIP WHICH DEVELOPED INTO A FOOT OF CRACK OVERNIGHT. WITHIN A WEEK, THE CRACKS WENT IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS. EVEN THE CAR WAS STATIONED FOR DAYS (QUARANTINE), THE CRACKS WERE STILL DEVELOPING. THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED AND INSTALLED A NEW ONE BY SUBARU ON JULY 16TH. IT WAS CHIPPED A WEEK LATER DRIVING UNDER 45 MPH. AGAIN, THE CHIP BECAME A 5-INCH CURVY CRACK OVERNIGHT. THE NEXT DAY, THE NEW CRACK DEVELOPED AND DIFFERENT CRACKS APPEARED WITHIN 3 DAYS. THE SLIGHTEST IMPACT WITH ANY OBJECT CAUSES THE WINDSHIELD TO CRACK EASILY AND IMMEDIATELY. IT HAS BECOME A SEVERE SAFETY CONCERN.
CAR BATTERY DIED APPROXIMATELY 7 MONTHS AFTER RECEIPT OF THE VEHICLE. NO CAUSE OR DRAIN WAS IDENTIFIED. CAR BATTERY WAS REPLACED. THEN, SAME THING HAPPENED WITH NO APPARENT CAUSE OF BATTERY DRAIN APPROXIMATELY 8 MONTHS AFTER THE CAR BATTERY WAS REPLACED. CONCERNED THAT SOME ELECTRICAL ISSUE IS CAUSING UNEXPECTED BATTERY DRAIN AFFECTING THE BATTERY'S LIFE AND THAT THIS IS RECURRING AND UNDIAGNOSED.
Rear tailgate fails to open consistently making it impossible to enter or exit the vehicle from the rear, through the rear tail gate door (the 5th door). Nine times we have brought vehicle back to authorized Subaru dealerships over the last two years of ownership in Hanover Ma-Planet Subaru; San Francisco -Serramonte Subaru and lastly in San Diego- Kearny Mesa. The rear tail gate does not open consistently while pressing the open button on either of the key fobs or from trying the driver's side interior release button or while attempting to use the hatch release button at the exterior rear of the vehicle. Many times we have tried all three standard methods to open the rear tail gate but with no success making this rear tail gate feature on this mid size SUV useless. This problem has been verified at Planet Subaru, Hanover, Ma and at Serramonte Subaru S.F. Could not duplicate it at our last appointment in Kearny Mesa San Diego in 2022 but it still continues to be a real problem. On multiple occasions, the car battery had been inadvertently drained because the rear tail gate did not close completely and the dash warning light confirmed this to be the case. Subaru adjusted the closing mechanism/replaced it and this seems to have solved the closure issue but not the opening function of the tailgate. The problem surfaced soon after our initial purchase of vehicle in July of 2020. Car is available for inspection.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART AND WAS TOWED TO SERRA SUBARU OF TRAVERS CITY LOCATED AT 1747 S. GARFIELD AVE, TRAVERSE CITY, MI 49686. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS FAULTY FUEL PUMP COMPONENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,925.*DT*DT*JB
WITH 8400 MILES AND 13 MONTHS OLD BATTERY HAD TO BE REPLACED. 6 DAYS LATER THE CAR BATTERY WAS DEAD AND NEEDED JUMP START. TOOK IT TO DEALER NEXT DAY AND THEY COULD FIND NO PROBLEM OR REASON WHY THIS HAPPENED. NO EXPLANATION. BOTH TIMES VEHICLE WAS PARKED. SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED I HAD STARTED THE CAR JUST 20 MINUTES PRIOR TO BATTERY BEING COMPLETELY DEAD.
SPONTANEOUS CRACKS APPEARED ON MY 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK WITH 10104 MILES. NO IMPACTS HAVE OCCURRED TO VEHICLE OR WINDSHIELD. VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN CRACKS DISCOVERED. VEHICLE IS PARKED OUTSIDE IN THE DRIVEWAY AND HAS BEEN DRIVEN VERY LOW MILES SINCE THE COVID-19 OUTBREAK. THE FIRST CRACK RUNS HORIZONTAL AND POSITIONED ABOUT HALF WAY UP WINDSHIELD AND A LITTLE LEFT OF CENTER (TOWARDS DRIVER'S SIDE). THE SECOND CRACK IS A CRESCENT SHAPED CRACK APPROXIMATELY 4 INCHES BELOW THE HORIZONTAL CRACK.
THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM DRAINS THE BATTERY CAUSING THE VEHICLE NOT TO START. HAS HAPPENED REPEATEDLY, EVEN AFTER BATTERY WAS REPLACED BY DEALER.
DEAD BATTERY PROBLEM. HAVING THE BATTERY GO DEAD IN A PARKING LOT, HAD TO HAVE IT JUMP STARTED TO GET HOME.HAD THE BATTERY REPLACED AFTER A FEW MORE CASES OF SLOW STARTING, BATTERY WAS REPLACE BY DEALER. HAD TO JUMP START THE NEW BATTERY IN GARAGE TWO MORE TIME IN THE PART WEEK. HAD TO BUY A BATTERY STARTER BOX TO CARRY IN THE CAR TO BE SURE I CAN GET HOME IF I DRIVE THIS CAR.
VEHICLE WILL NOT START ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. WE REPLACED THE BATTERY, BUT PROBLEM CONTINUES. SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO GET PROBLEM CORRECTED BY DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAVE FAILED. PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED FOR MORE THAT 5 MONTHS NOW.
MY 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK HAD A FUEL PUMP RECALL, AND THE DEALERSHIP DID THE RECALL. I DROVE THE CAR FOR 15 MILES, PARKED IT ON A CITY STREET, AND WHEN I RETURNED BACK AFTER AN HOUR TO START THE CAR, IT DID NOT START. THE WHOLE INTERIOR STARTED SMELLING LIKE GASOLINE. WHEN I EXITED THE CAR, I NOTICED GASOLINE LEAKING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR, AND ALL OVER THE CITY STREET. I THINK THE NEW FUEL PUMP THEY ARE INSTALLING ARE DEFECTIVE.
