The paint on the outside of my 2011 Toyota 4Runner has recently been peeling significantly in various areas of the car, including the roof, the door below the window, and the front driver side panel. These areas are prone to rust, and many inhibit the safety of the car due to rust. Due to living near the ocean (within a mile), the salty air may increase the rust due to the paint peeling in various and significant areas of the car.
The conectors wire of the fuel pump was burn, inside the fuel pump the wire is melted. I thing is danger because the gas can involved.
Brakes ABS system failure affect the rear traction not feeding the brakes rear lines could be related to the proportioning sensing valve or other devices and the dealer says that the part it’s discontinued and service center says that the part cost around $2,000 plus labor. It’s very dangerous that someone have this issue on the road.
Frame rotting, brake line connections rotting
I was driving my truck and needed to use the horn to warn another driver of a potential collision. My horn did not work. I later noticed that the horn only stopped working when the steering wheel was in the forward position. I researched this online, and it was stated that this was a known issue with many Toyotas including the 4runner. It is the clock spring in the steering wheel which needs replacement. Another issue is the price Toyota is charging for the clock spring at $800 which may deter customers from fixing it. I am fixing mine and ask for nothing except consideration in forcing a recall. This is dangerous. I can send you the defective clock spring if you would like it. I bought the vehicle but live in Canada.
The Blizzard Pearl paint on my Toyota 4Runner is peeling in large patches, exposing the undercoat and compromising the vehicle’s integrity. Toyota issued a Customer Support Program (CSP) acknowledging this as a known defect affecting Blizzard Pearl paint, but I never received the notification. As a result, I missed the deadline to have the issue corrected, and Toyota has refused to assist. This widespread issue impacts resale value and could potentially lead to rust or corrosion. There should not be a time limit on addressing a manufacturing defect of this nature. Toyota should be held accountable for providing a lasting remedy, especially when customers like me were unaware of the CSP timeline.
Received a letter about recall letter about peeling paint. Paint was ok at time of letter. A year later the paint is now peeling from every panel. Toyota says the campaign has ended and there is nothing they can do. But customer relations also said there are many people calling in after the fact with the same peeling problem. I would like Toyota to repaint the vehicle because they are aware that they have a problem. I will be trading my vehicle in for a new one in a year and my vehicle will not be worth anything in its current shape. Thank you
I TURNED IN THE IGNITION AND WASN'T EVEN AROUND THE BLOCK FROM MY HOME, WHEN I NOTICED MY SEAT OVERHEATING ALONG WITH A STRONG BURNING ELECTRICAL/WIRE SMELL. THE HEAT WAS HOTTER THAN THE HIGHEST SETTING BECAUSE IT WAS UNCOMFORTABLE TO REMAIN SEATED. I CHECKED THE POWER SWITCH, WHICH WAS OFF, THEN TOGGLED IT ANYWAY TO SEE IF IT WOULD TURN OFF. I HAD TO PULL OVER AS THE SEAT WAS TOO HOT AND FEARED IT INJURE ME AND/OR WOULD IGNITE. AFTER TURNING OFF THE IGNITION, THE HEATING STOPPED. HOWEVER, I GOT BACK IN AND STARTED TO DRIVE, IT HEATED UP AGAIN. I RETURNED HOME TO LOOK UNDER THE SEAT BUT DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING UNUSUAL, EXCEPT FOR THE STRONG BURNING WIRES SMELL. ALSO, MY SKIN WAS RED WITH A LINGERING STING IN TWO AREAS WHERE THE HEAT WAS MORE INTENSE. I CONDUCTED ON ONLINE SEARCH ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND DISCOVERED OTHERS EXPERIENCED THE ABRUPT OVERHEATING SEATS.
AIR CLOCK SPRING PROBLEM.. HORN NOT WORKING .. WHEN I GAS UP AND FEEL LIKE LOUD VIBRATE
THE SUNROOF GLASS SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODED WHILE PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY AS I WAS ENTERING THE VEHICLE. I HEARD A LOUD POP AND HEARD GLASS HITTING THE TOP OF THE SUN SHADE. I INSPECTED THE TOP OF THE SUNROOF AND NOTICED THAT THE GLASS WAS PUSHED OUTWARD, AS IF IT EXPLODED AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO HAIL AND NO OBJECTS ABOVE THE VEHICLE THAT COULD HAVE FALLEN. THE VEHICLE IS PARKED IN AN OPEN DRIVEWAY WITH NO TREES.
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR AND THE SEAT STARTED GETTING HOT. I CHECKED TO MAKE SURE THE SWITCH WAS OFF. IT WAS, BUT I TURNED IT ON THEN OFF, JUST TO MAKE SURE. THE SEAT HEATER STAYED ON AND GOT HOTTER, AND I STARTED TO SMELL SOMETHING BURNING. I STOPPED, GOT OUT, AND CHECKED UNDER THE SEAT BUT COULDN'T SEE ANYTHING UNDER THERE. I WAS CLOSE TO HOME, BUT HAD TO ROLL MY WINDOWS DOWN THE SMELL WAS SO BAD...AND THE SEAT WAS UNPLEASANTLY HOT! MY HUSBAND DROVE IT THE NEXT DAY AND THE PROBLEM WAS STILL THERE. HE PULLED THE FUSE THIS MORNING...I'LL SEE IF THAT FIXED THE ISSUE TEMPORARILY.
PASSENGER SIDE LOWER DOOR SEAM IS RUSTING. NOTICED RECENTLY. VEHICLE IS GARAGE KEPT & FREQUENTLY WASHED. PREMATURE RUSTING. ONLY HAS 88,000 MILES ON IT. RUST IS ALSO PRESENT ON REAR LIFTGATE HATCH. VEHICLE STATIONARY.
TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND DEALERSHIP MENTIONED THERE IS NO PROBLEM. I KEEP GETTING LETTERS FROM YOU BY THE WEEK AND MY AVIN SHOWS ON YOUR RECALL DATABASE. WHEN I GO TO THE MANUFACTURER'S DATABASE, IT DOESN'T. SO, WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?
SEAT BELT RETRACTOR. STOPPED RETRACTING AND LOCKED IN PLACE WHEN VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED. WOULD NOT RETRACT AT ALL. COST FOR PART $278

THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, CHECKED UNDER THE HOOD, AND DID NOT DETECT ANY SMOKE. THE CONTACT OPENED THE DRIVER'S DOOR AND SAW FLAMES COMING FROM THE CENTER CONSOLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO AN UNKNOWN LOCATION. TOOK IT BACK TO GEORGE, HE GOT HIS MECHANIC DO SAME THING AGAIN, PLUS REPLACES FRONT BAKES, 2 MONTHS LATER TOOK IT TO TOYOTA FOR A AIR BAG SAFETY RECALL, WHILE THERE I ASKED TOYOTA TO LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE, TOYOTA FOUND OUT FROM RUNNING THEIR CARFAX REPORT THAT THIS SAME VEHICLE WAS RECORDED SEVERAL TIMES AT MECHANICS WITH LAST RECORDED MILEAGE IN 2017 OF 194,000 MILES, TOYOTA URGED ME TO RETURN CAR TO GEORGE KING CAR BECAUSE MORE SAFETY ISSUES MIGHT BE PRESENT SINCE CAR HAVING BALANCING ISSUES AND VIRRING OFF THE ROAD. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STILL DRIVABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. LAST WEEK, AT THE 120,000 MILE OIL CHANGE THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE AIRBAGS. I CALLED TOYOTA HQ AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE RECALL WAS ISSUED IN MAY 2016. I ASKED WHY I HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED PREVIOUSLY, SINCE . (I HAVE NOT CHANGED ADDRESSES). JADE, THE TOYOTA REP SAID THAT THE DEALERSHIP PROBABLY DID NOT INFORM ME BECAUSE THEY MAY NOT HAVE HAD A REPLACEMENT PART. SHE ALSO SO THAT IT WAS THE NHTSA'S RESPONSIBILITY TO INFORM ME OF THE RECALL. I FIND THE FORMER REASON A POOR EXCUSE SINCE IT RESULTED IN ME AND MY FAMILY DRIVING IN AN UNSAFE VEHICLE FOR OVER A YEAR. TAKATA RECALL - JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH THE LOCAL DEALER AND THEY SAID THE PART TO FIX THE RECALL TAKE ABOUT 6 TO 8 WEEKS TO ARRIVE. THEY GAVE ME AN APPOINTMENT FOR NOVEMBER 20. I THINK THAT IS A REALLY LONG TIME.
TAMARA RECALL: I HAVE LOOKED IT UP AND FOUND THAT MY VEHICLE HAS TAKATA AIR BAGS, YET THERE IS NO RECALL NOTIFICATION. FROM WHAT I HAVE RESEARCHED THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE BAGS COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR POSSIBLY DEATH. IN MY OPINION A RECALL SHOULD BE IMPLEMENTED ASAP

TOYOTA TAKATA RECALL AND SPIRAL CABLE ASSEMBLY: 2011 TOYOTA 4RUNNER HORN STOPPED FUNCTIONING. THIS VEHICLE, ACCORDING TO NHTSA, IS AFFECTED BY THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL. ON SEPT 2, 2017, TOYOTA DEALER DIAGNOSED SPIRAL CABLE ASSEMBLY AS CAUSE OF HORN FAILURE. GIVEN THE FAULTY SPIRAL CABLE ASSEMBLY AS THE CAUSE OF THE HORN FAILURE AND THE APPARENT CAUSE OF THE AIRBAG MALFUNCTION, THIS FAULTY PART RAISES TWO SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES: NO HORN, POTENTIALLY EXPLOSIVE AIRBAG. FOLLOWING THE DEALER SERVICE, WE FILED A CONCERN WITH TOYOTA ON SEPT 5, 2017. TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE INSISTED ON SEPT. 12, 2017 THAT THE VEHICLE IS SAFE. WE DO NOT BELIEVE THE VEHICLE IS SAFE. THE PROBLEM STARTED WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION.
TAKATA RECALL. IT HAS BEEN MORE THAN A YEAR SINCE I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM TOYOTA THAT NOTIFIED ME MY TOYOTA 4RUNNER IS AFFECTED BY THE AIRBAG RECALL. I JUST CALLED THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT TOYOTA HAS NOT RELEASE ANY INSTRUCTIONS OR PARTS TO REMEDY THE AIRBAG IN MY VEHICLE.
REAR FRAME CROSS MEMEBER THAT ALSO SUPPORTS A BOLT ON HITCH RECEIVER AND ATTACHES TO EACH OF THE VEHICLES SIDE RAILS, THAT RUN THE LENGTH OF THE VEHICLE IS RUSTING. I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL 1/4 INCH RUST CREATED SEPARATIONS (HOLES) IN THE STEEL WITH SURFACE RUST CRATING FUTURE FAILUES.
TAKATA AIRBAGS. I JUST PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AND THE RECALL HAS NOT BEEN INCOMPLETE.

TAKATA RECALL: HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR OVER A YEAR FOR A REMEDY. HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO USE THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT FOR ALL OF THAT TIME. HAVE CALLED TOYOTA DIRECTLY ON 03/08/17 (CASE # 1703082418) AND CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS ONLY TO DISCOVER THEY STILL HAD NO SOLUTION TO THE ISSUE. GOT TIRED OF WAITING AND WANTED TO PURCHASE A NEW VEHICLE THAT MY FAMILY CAN RIDE IN TOGETHER. WENT TO TRADE IN THIS VEHICLE ON 07/01/17 AND THE DEALER UNDERCUT MY FAIR TRADE IN PRICE BY $5,000 STATING THE OUTSTANDING RECALL WAS A DANGER TO A FUTURE OWNER AND THAT THEY COULDN'T SELL THE VEHICLE WITH A KNOWN SAFETY HAZARD. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED THAT TOYOTA HASN'T FOUND A SOLUTION TO THIS KNOWN ISSUE FOR OVER A YEAR. NOW IT'S COST ME THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED FOR NO APPARENT REASON
TAKATA RECALL FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATOR.
WE WERE HIT HEAD ON IN A COLLISION ON 5/5/2017 AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE FRONT AND SIDE BAGS OF THE OTHER VEHICLE DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE WE WERE IN DID NOT. IT WAS UNPROVABLE BUT THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. WE WERE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY.
TAKATA RECALL RECALL DATE OF MAY 23, 2016. ONE YEAR LATER, STILL NO REMEDY FROM TOYOTA, OTHER THAN TO RECOMMEND THAT WE NOT ALLOW PASSENGERS RIDE IN THE FRONT SEAT, WHICH OBVIOUSLY IS NOT PRACTICAL.
TAKATA RECALL- NO INCIDENT HAS OCCURRED HOWEVER WE ARE FILING A COMPLAINT DUE TO THE UNACCEPTABLE AMOUNT OF TIME TO HAVE THE RECALL CORRECTED. RECALL NOTICE SENT OVER A YEAR AGO ADVISING US NOT TO HAVE A PASSENGER RIDING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT OF THE CAR DUE TO PROBLEM WITH AIRBAG WHICH CAN LEAD TO SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO RESOLVE THIS. WE SHOULD HAVE THE AIRBAG AND ALL RELATED COMPONENTS REPLACED AND/OR REPAIRED IMMEDIATELY.

THE MANUFACTURER ALSO STATED THAT THERE WERE NO PARTS AVAILABLE FOR THAT ZONE AND, BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF ITS ZONE (A), THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO WAIT TO RECEIVE THE REMEDY. A LOANER VEHICLE OF SMALLER QUALITY WAS PROVIDED AND THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS STORED BY THE DEALER. NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. TOYOTA'S WRITTEN RECOMMENDATION WAS TO NOT LET ANYONE RIDE IN THE FRONT SEAT OF THE VEHICLE WHICH IS UNREALISTIC. IT SHOULD NOT TAKE THIS LONG TO ARRIVE AT A SOLUTION. IF A WHOLE NEW AIR BAG SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE INSTALLED, THEN THAT IS WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE ASAP.

IT'S BEEN 5 MONTHS SINCE I GOT THE LETTER SAYING THAT THE AIRBAGS ARE BEING RECALLED, AND 8 MONTHS SINCE THE ACTUAL RECALL THE LETTER STATES THAT "UNTIL THE REMEDY BECOMES AVAILABLE, WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT OPERATE THE VEHICLE WITH AN OCCUPANT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT." NO FRONT PASSENGER!? ADDITIONALLY, AFTER COMPLAINING TO TOYOTA HQ, I GOT A CALL SAYING TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY LOCAL DEALER, WHO THEN SAID THAT THE PARTS ARE NOT YET AVAILABLE.

"TAKATA RECALL" - RECEIVED NOTICE OF THE RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE IN JULY OF 2016 STATING THAT I WOULD BE NOTIFIED WHEN A SOLUTION TO FIX THE PROBLEM WAS AVAILABLE. IT IS NOW JANUARY OF 2017 AND I HAVE YET TO BE NOTIFIED OF A POSSIBLE REPAIR DATE. THE RECALL STATES THAT MY VEHICLE IS UNSAFE FOR SOMEONE TO RIDE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT OF MY VEHICLE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AS THIS IS MY FAMILIES PRIMARY TRAVEL VEHICLE. I BELIEVE THAT MY VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPAIRED BY NOW OR THAT MY VEHICLE SHOULD BE REPLACED UNTIL THE OPTION TO BE REPAIRED IS AVAILABLE.
