HEADLIGHTS BLOW OUT FREQUENTLY AND NEED REPLACING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 TOYOTA AVALON. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK THE VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, IT INDEPENDENTLY ACCELERATED. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT FAILED TO SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WENT OVER A CURB AND PLOWED INTO A GARDEN AREA COVERED WITH MULCH BEFORE COMING TO A STOP. THERE WAS NO CRASH OR INJURIES INVOLVED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
REAR WINDOW IS DISTORTED MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE CLEARLY, WHILE SUNLIGHT DISABLES THE BACK UP CAMERA SO I'M NOT ABLE TO CLEARLY IDENTIFY PEDESTRIANS. I'VE OWNED 5 TOYOTAS SINCE 2005 BUT THIS ONE IS THE WORST AND UNSAFE VEHICLE I'VE EVER OWNED.
REAR WINDOW SHADE WILL NOT RETRACT. STAYS IN UP POSITION ALL THE TIME. HARD TO SEE AT NIGHT. DEALER SAYS THERE HAS BEEN ALOT OF SHADES THAT QUIT FUNTIONING. NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. $1700 REPAIR IF WANT DONE. CAN'T EVEN DISABLE SO IT WILL RETRACT AND STAY DOWN.
LED REAR TAILLIGHT DIODES ARE NOT WORKING COULD BE A SAFETY CONCERN
VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN PARKING LOT. WHILE CHANGING A FLAT TIRE, THE JACK COLLAPSED. THAT ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO FALL TO THE GROUND.
THE MAIN ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE I NOTICED ON MARCH 10 2017AND SCHEDULED AN APOINTMENT ON MARCH 15 2017. IS THE HEADLINER HAS SEPARATED AND FALLING DOWN BEHIND MY MOONROOF OR SUNROOF OPENING LEAVING A GAP. PUSH IT BACK UP AND IT POPS BACK LOOSE. IT LOOKS LIKE THE TWO DUAL LOCK FASTENERS HAVE FAILED ON BOTH SIDES. THEY LOOK MORE LIKE STICK ON PADS TRYING TO HOLD UP SOMETHING THAT IS TOO HEAVY. PER THE MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN THE BULLENTIN PERTAINING TO THIS REPAIR CALLS FOR REPLACEMENT OF DUAL LOCK FASTENERS AND THE ADDITIONAL OF A MAGNET AFFIXED TO THE HEADLINER. REPAIR PROCEDURE REQUIRES 3 HOURS FOR PREP, OPERATION STEPS AND CURING OF EPOXY FOR $300.00 FIX. WITH 18,235 MILES ON MY CAR IT SHOULDN'T BE COMING APART NOW. IF YOU KNEW THIS WAS A PROBLEM WHY DIDN'T YOU INFORMED THE CUSTOMERS BEFORE INVESTING BECAUSE I WOULD OF LEFT IT ON THE LOT. WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO SPEND MONEY FOR A WORKAROUND THAT DOESN'T WORK. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BESIDE YOU CAN'T FIX IT OR HAVEN'T FOUND THE RIGHT WORKAROUND.
HEADLINER AT TOP OF REAR GLASS IS DROOPING WHERE THE HEADLINER MEETS, AND HAS DEVELOPED A CREASE AT A POINT IN THE CENTER, RESTRICTING VISIBILITY OUT OF THE REAR WINDOW. IT IS A DEFECT AND THE DEALER (NORTHTOWN TOYOTA - AMHERST, NY) WILL NOT REPLACE/REPAIR AS CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. CONTACTED TOYOTA TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM, AND THEY HAVE NOT RESPONDED.
WHILE DRIVING WESTBOUND ON THE MUSKOGEE TURNPIKE (HWY 351), AT MILE MARKER 20, THE CRUISE CONTROL SHUT OFF, VEHICLE STABILITY ICON CAME ON, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING. THE CAR ALSO LOST POWER AND RAN ROUGH. PULLED OVER, SHUT OFF VEHICLE. AFTER RESTARTING, THE CAR RAN FINE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE, OCTOBER 3RD AND OCTOBER 17TH IN 2016. THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A KEYLESS REMOTE. ADDITIONALLY, THIS HAPPENED NEXT TO A CELL PHONE TOWER ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. IT DOES NOT OCCUR WHILE TRAVELING THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR
AVALON RECALL NO 15V728. HAD THE RECALL "REMEDY" PERFORMED ON MY CAR 09/07/16 (WAS HAVING NO ISSUE WITH MY CAR BEFORE THE RECALL) AND NOW THE PCS WARNING BUZZES AND LIGHTS UP, AND THE RED BRAKE! MESSAGE LIGHTS UP EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE VEHICLE! CONTACTED TOYOTA CORPORATE OFC (CASE #1609142106 & #1611100472) TO REPORT THE ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED, AND EXPRESS MY FEAR THAT THE SYSTEM WILL NOW NOT WORK WHEN IT IS SUPPOSED TO, BUT THE "CASE MGR" (CORY CARTER) STATED "THERE IS NOTHING ELSE THEY CAN DO FOR ME", AND ADVISED ME TO "SEEK OUTSIDE ASSISTANCE FOR ANY ADDITIONAL HELP'. I ASKED IF THIS MEANT SEEKING AN ATTORNEY, TO WHICH HE REPLIED "YES". I FEEL MY CAR IS NOW UNSAFE, AND TOYOTA COULD CARE LESS!!
THE REAR POWER SUNSHADE, WHICH IS STANDARD EQUIPMENT ON THE LIMITED MODEL, RAISES ON ITS OWN AND WON'T GO BACK DOWN CAUSING LOW VISIBILITY. THERE IS NO WAY TO MANUALLY LOWER IT EITHER
DYNAMIC CRUISE CONTROL TURN ITSELF OFF OR APPLIES BRAKES THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES ON TANGENT SECTIONS WITH NO VEHICLES IN FRONT - HIGHWAY SPEED (70 MPH). THERE IS A SERIES OF BEEPS AND THE CAR SLOWS GRADUALLY OR ABRUPTLY. DASHBOARD INDICATOR SHOWS THERE IS A VEHICLE IN FRONT BUT NO VEHICLE IS PRESENT - FALSE POSITIVE. TOOK VEHICLE TO TOYOTA DEALER AND HE STATED THAT WHEN PCS WAS DISABLED IT WOULD REMEDY THE PROBLEM. IT DID NOT. RETURNED TO TOYOTA DEALER - HE CHECKED WITH TOYOTA CORPORATE AND THEY HAVE NO RECORD OF ANY PROBLEMS LIKE THIS. PROBLEM NORMALLY OCCURS ON LONGER TRIPS AFTER DRIVING 2-3 HOURS. DYNAMIC CRUISE CANNOT BE RESET FOR AN HOUR OR TWO. YOU MUST EITHER DRIVE MANUALLY OR USE NORMAL CRUISE CONTROL MODE FOR AN HOUR OR TWO AND THEN YOU CAN RETURN TO DYNAMIC CRUISE CONTROL. ERROR HAS NOW OCCURED AT LEAST 6 TIMES SINCE PCS HAS BEEN DISABLED AND 3X BEFORE IT WAS DISABLED. DATE BELOW IS THE LATEST OCCURENCE.
IN 2016 OF AUGUST I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH TOYOTA (CASE#1611260024112616) IN REFERENCE TO A TORQUE COVERTER ISSUE THAT HAS PLAQUED 2012 CAMRYS , AT THIS POINT I TOOK CAR INTO DEALER MANY OCASSIONS , BUT THEY REFUSE TO ADMIT IT THEIR FAULT, A 2300 DOLLAR PROBLEM .
SINCE 2016 THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN VERY SOFT AND SOMETIMES WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE IT GOES FAR ENOUGH THAT MY FOOT HITS THE GAS PEDAL. I HAVE TOLD THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY CHECK THE BRAKES AND THEY ARE OK BUT TO THIS DAY THEY ARE STILL SOFT AND THIS COULD CAUSE A POTENTIAL PROBLEM.
PCS RECALL NOV 2015. VEHICLE TAKEN IN AND TEMPORARY BYPASS MADE (5 FEB 2016). RECEIVED WORD IN JUNE THAT A FIX WAS AVAILABLE. WAS TOLD PARTS NOT AVAILABLE. IT IS AUG AND PARTS STILL NOT AVAILABLE. SINCE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE I WAS TOLD NOT TO TAKE LONG TRIPS UNTIL IT IS FIXED. UNACCEPTABLE
DRIVING FROM PA TO NC.ON RT13 IN SEAFORD, DE, DRIVING SPEED LIMIT HEARD LOUD BANG. SUNROOF EXPLODED & CRACKED FROM INSIDE.DROVE TO 1ST AUTO GARAGE, THEY SAID WE WERE 2ND TOYOTA THIS WEEK WITH CRACKED SUNROOF. THEY GAVE US A ROLL OF DUCT TAPE, TO GET US THROUGH THE MONSOON. TOYOTA CORP RECOMMENDED GOING TO DEALER FOR EVALUATION AS TO HOW THIS HAPPENED. HAVE TO WAIT 2 DAYS FOR APPOINTMENT. MY OLD AVALON HAS MADE MANY LONG TRIPS WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM. THIS NEW CAR HAS DEFINITELY NOT BEEN MADE WELL. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 TOYOTA AVALON. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO SLOW DOWN, THE FLOORMAT BECAME STUCK UNDER THE BRAKE PEDAL AND PREVENTED IT FROM BEING DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE SAME FAILURE IN 2014 AND THE REMEDY WAS TO ADD TWO CLIPS TO THE FLOORMAT. ONE OF THE CLIPS WAS FRACTURED DURING THE RECENT FAILURE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE FAILURE AND THE CARPET SHOULD BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO REPLACE THE CARPET. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,454.
IN 2013 I BOUGHT A TOYOTA AVALON LIMITED SEDAN. BEFORE THE FACTORY WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED, A CLIP HOLDING THE DRIVERS FLOOR MAT IN PLACE BROKE. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT COVERED AND THE REASON IT WAS NOT IS BECAUSE 'I AM GETTING IN AND OUT OF MY CAR THE WRONG WAY' THEY PUT THE CLIP BACK IN BUT DID NOT REPAIR THE UNDERLYING CARPET ISSUE. I ASKED FOR THEM TO SHOW ME A WRITTEN MANUAL OR TO AT LEAST DEMONSTRATE WHAT IT IS I WAS DOING WRONG AND I ALSO ASKED IF THEY WERE WATCHING ME GET IN AND OUT OF MY CAR FOR THEM TO HAVE THIS INFORMATION. THEY WERE UNABLE TO ANSWER ANY OF THESE QUESTIONS BUT STILL REFUSED TO FIX THE ISSUE. FLASH FORWARD AND I GET A PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM RECALL. TOYOTA HAS NO SOLUTION SO THEY TURN OFF THE ENTIRE SYSTEM. NOW I HAVE NO COLLISION MITIGATION WHEN THE FLOOR MAT CLIP COMES LOSE AGAIN. THE MAT IS UNDER THE BREAK PEDAL AND I CANNOT FULLY DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM IS TURNED OFF SO NO HELP THERE. I MANAGED TO REACH DOWN AND PULL THE FLOOR MAT OUT FROM UNDER THE BRAKE PEDAL AND STOP INCHED AWAY FROM ANOTHER VEHICLE. I FEEL THAT TOYOTA HAS NEEDLESSLY PUT MY WELFARE AT RISK AND TRIED TO BLAME ME, AND THE WAY I INGRESS AND EGRESS THE VEHICLE, ADDITIONALLY IT HAS BEEN NEARLY A YEAR SINCE THEY TURNED OFF MY PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM. I PAID $4000 IN UPGRADE FEES TO GET THAT SYSTEM.
LETTER FROM SENATOR NELSON ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT RE THE PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM FOR 2013 TOYOTA AVALON RECALL NOTICE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE SYSTEM NEVER WORKED PROPERLY AND HE NOTIFIED THE DEALER ABOUT THE PROBLEM IN 2014. IN LATE 2015, A RECALL WAS ISSUED. THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN A VEHICLE TURNED IN THE LEFT LANE AS HE APPROACHED IT, THE PCS INITIATED FIVE OR SIX TIMES, AND TWICE STOPPED THE VEHICLE IN TRAFFIC. *JB

WHEN THE PCS SYSTEM DEACTIVATED, THE CONTACT HAD IT REACTIVATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE RECALL INFORMATION WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
HEADLINER AT SUNROOF COMING DOWN. APPEARS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL WHILE DOING ONLINE RESEARCH. JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR USED A FEW WEEKS AGO AND NOTICED THIS PROBLEM TWO WEEKS LATER.
TWO RELATED PROBLEMS. FIRST, SIX MONTHS AGO, RODENTS GOT INTO ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND CHEWED INTO THE INSULATED LINER OF THE HOOD. FRAGMENTS WERE DANGLING INTO ENGINE WHEN I FOUND IT BEFORE ANY PROBLEMS BUT REPAIR WAS $400+. LAST WEEK, FILLING GASTANK, A GALLON OF FUEL SPILLED ON GROUND IMMEDIATELY. ATTENDANT SUPERVISING STATION SPOTTED IT AND HIT THE CUTOFF. DEALER FOUND THAT RODENT HAD CHEWED HOLE IN FILLER TUBE. FOR 35 YEARS, I HAVE PARKED MANY CARS IN THIS RURAL NEIGHBORHOOD WITH WILDLIFE. MANY SQUIRRELS AND CHIPMUNKS. NEVER HAD A PROBLEM UNTIL THIS VEHICLE. ONE EPISODE OF ROGUE RODENT UNDER THE HOOD MIGHT HAPPEN. TWO IN LESS THAN A YEAR, AT BOTH ENDS OF THE CAR, BOTH IN TEMPERATE WEATHER MAKES ME WONDER IF THERE IS SOMETHING IN THESE MATERIALS THAT ATTRACTS RODENTS. THESE WEREN'T CATASTROPHIC BUT BOTH EVENTS HAD THE POTENTIAL FOR GREAT CHAOS. I HAVE DOCUMENTATION OF THE REPAIRS IF YOU NEED THEM.
WHILE PARKING MY CAR, THE MOTOR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL HAVING BEEN DEPRESSED. THE CAR SURGED FORWARD AND EVEN AFTER THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE FOR SEVERAL SECONDS.

SIDEWALL OF TIRE SHOWED A BUBBLE AFTER 24,000 MILES ON A 2013 TOYOTA AVALON DISCOVERED BY DEALER ON ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. CONTACTED MICHELIN AND THEY SENT ME TO A DEALER THAT BUMPED UP THE PRICE $25 OVER THE PRICE THE DEALER QUOTED AND ONLY OFFERED 20% CREDIT. I BELIEVE THE SIDEWALL IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. I HAVE PHOTOS THAT I CAN SEND. THESE TIRES ARE A DANGER TO THE REINING PUBLIC AND NEED TO BE RECALLED BEFORE DEATH OR A SERIOUS INJURY RESULTS FROM THE SIDEWALL.

TAKATA RECALL A RECALL WAS MADE ON THIS VEHICLE IN OCTOBERT OF 2015 REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE NOT AVAILBLE NEARLY HAD FOUR BAD ACCIDENTS ON A HIGHWAY GOING TO CHICAGO THE RADAR CRUISE CONTROL IS SUPPOSED TO SLOW THE CAR WHEN YOU GET TO CLOSE TO THE CAR IN FRONT OF YOU. ON CERTAIN OCCASION THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN.

TOYOTA HAS FAILED TO REMEDY NHTSA RECALL: 15V728 WITH A REASONABLE TIME .INTERIM SAFETY RECALL NOTICE WAS IN NOV 2015.
I WAS PARKING HEAD-IN TO PARKING SPOT. AS I REACHED THE FINAL SPOT, AND WAS SHIFTING GEAR TO P (PARKING), THE CAR TOOK OFF LIKE A "ROCKET" AND JUMPED THE CURB. THIS CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE CAR PARKED IN THE NEXT PARKING SPOT AND MY CAR. THE OTHER CAR HAD TO BE TOWED. I WAS ABLE TO STILL DRIVE MY CAR. THIS HAPPENED AT AN OFFICE BUILDING OUTDOOR PARKING LOT. PEOPLE STANDING OUTSIDE THE BUILDING (FOR SMOKING OR OTHERWISE) WITNESSED IT ALL. THEY ALSO INDICATED THAT THE CAR WENT LIKE A ROCKET AND THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS.

CAR LACKS AUTO SHUTOFF FEATURE IN THE ELECTRIC MODE WHEN PARKED. KEYLESS SYSTEM CONTINUES TO RUN EVEN THOUGH KEY IS MORE THAN 25' AWAY FROM THE CAR. IF HYBRID GOES 'QUIET' IN ELECTRIC MODE WHEN PARKED, ONE CAN WALK BLOCKS AWAY WITHOUT THE AUTO SHUTTING DOWN. WE RETURNED AFTER A TWO HOUR LUNCH TO FIND THE CAR WAS STILL 'RUNNING' EVEN THOUGH KEY WAS IN MY PURSE THE ENTIRE TIME. WE'VE SINCE TESTED THE SYSTEM SEVERAL TIMES WITH THE SAME RESULT. TOYOTA DEALER LOCATED ON LAKE CITY WAY IN SEATTLE, WASHINGTON DENIES THIS TO BE A PROBLEM. WE CONSIDER IT BOTH A SAFETY AND SECURITY PROBLEM SINCE A CHILD COULD ACCESS AND DRIVE AUTO WITHOUT HAVING A KEY.

MY 2013 TOYOTA AVALON WIRING HARNESS WAS CHEWED ON BY A RODENT . IT CAUSED PROBLEMS WITH THE RUNNING OF THE VEHICLE , THE TRACTION CONTROL , THE CRUISE CONTROL AND WAS OPERATING ON 5 CYLINDERS . THE DEALERS REPAIR SHOP SAID THAT A RODENT EAT THROUGH THE WIRES AND TOYOTA WOULD NOT WARRANTY THIS PROBLEM . THE CAR WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY NEXT TO ANOTHER TOYOTA PRODUCT THAT IS A 2006 AND HAS NEVER BEEN CHEWED . I HAVE DRIVEN TOYOTA'S SINCE 1988 AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS TO HAPPEN . I THINK TOYOTA SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DAMAGE IF THEY ARE PUTTING ANY TYPE EDIBLE PRODUCT IN THE VEHICLES THEY PRODUCE .
MY 2013 TOYOTA AVALON HYBRID IS HAVING ENGINE REVVING PROBLEMS. WHILE OPERATING AT NORMAL SPEED (45-50). THE RPM'S SUDDENLY INCREASE TO HIGH LEVELS WITHOUT AN INCREASE IN SPEED. LACK OF CONTROL IS EVIDENT. IF YOU SWITCH TO "MANUAL" MODE WITH THE GEAR SELECTOR YOU CAN FORCE IT OUT OF PLAY...BUT THE REVVING CAN OCCUR SOON THEREAFTER OR IT WILL NOT OCCUR AGAIN A DIFFERENT DAY. I TOOK THE CAR INTO BE SERVICED AND TOLD THE SERVICE MANAGER ABOUT THE REVVING PROBLEM. HE SEEMED TO BE VERY DOUBTFUL OF THE DESCRIPTION AND TOLD ME THEY COULD DOWNLOAD THE ENGINE HISTORY. THEY REPORTED "NO PROBLEM FOUND". IT HAPPENED AGAIN A FEW WEEKS LATER FOR A WHILE ON A FLAT PAVED COUNTRY ROAD AND COULD BE COAXED TO STOP WITH THE GAS PEDAL. *TR

Rear window sunscreen (dark black) stuck in the up position. Poor visibility during night driving with the curtain stuck in the upright position. This has always had this problem and Toyota has not solution.
