VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, RESULTING IN A MINOR COLLISION. DRIVER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES, AND VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
VIBRATION AT SPEEDS OF 40MPH AND HIGHER. VIBRATION MOST APPARENT AT 60MPH AND HIGHER. WHEN STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES, CAR FEELS UNSAFE/UNSTABLE. VIBRATION IS VERY APPARENT THROUGHOUT THE CAR. HANDS SHAKE AND CAN FEEL IN ARMS AND LEGS. VIBRATION CAUSES MY LOWER BACK TO HURT EVERYTIME I DRIVE IT. NEVER HAD BACK PROBLEMS BEFORE. DEALER STATES THAT THEY REBLANCED THE WHEELS. CLAIMS THE VIBRATION IS THE ROAD. HOWEVER, NO OTHER CAR I'VE EVER DRIVEN HAS HAD SO MUCH VIBRATION. CAN EVEN SEE PASSENGER SEAT CONSTANTLY VIBRATING. HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES. SECOND TIME DEALER STATES THAT THEY RECHECKED THE WHEEL BALANCE AND PHASE MATCHED FRONT TIRE. LEFT CAR AT DEALER FOR THREE DAYS THEY DID NOT EVEN LOOK AT THE CAR. DEALER REFUSES TO REPAIR THE CAR. HELP! HELP! HELP!
WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH TOOK FOOT OFF OF THE BRAKE PEDAL AND VEHICLE ACCELERAT CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES AGAIN, AND VEHICLE KEPT ACCELERATING. ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON AND WON'T GO OFF. ALSO, DRIVER'S SIDE SHOULDER BELT WASN'T WORKING.*AK
WINDSHIELD HAS TINY AIR POCKETS THAT CUT VISIBILITY WHEN SUN OR BRIGHT LIGHT COMES THROUGH. WINDSHIELD HAS APPEARANCE OF VERY OLD GLASS. ACCIDENT FEARED.

ON TWO OCCASIONS THE GLASS WINDOW ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE FELL OFF TRACK CAUSING WINDOW TO MALFUNCTION. *YC

WAS DRIVING VEHICLE 350MPH & HAD REARENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, NEITHER AIR BAG DEPLOYED. AIR BAG LIGHT REMAINED ON. INFORMED BY POLICE THAT VEHICLE NOT DRIVEABLE. *AK
DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW MAKES RATTLING/BUMPING SOUNDS WHEN OPENED OR CLOSED. DEALER CONTACTED. CLAIMS TO HAVE RECEIVED NUMEROUS CALLS WITH SAME COMPLAINT FOR '99 CAMRY.
MAJOR "BOTTOMING OUT" PROBLEM WHEN CAR IS CARRYING 4 ADULTS. VEHICLE ACTUALLY BANGS DOWN ONTO PAVEMENT WHEN ROLLING OVER THE SMALLEST SPEEDBUMP OR EXITING DRIVEWAY. DEALER NOTIFIED & REPLACED FRONT STRUTS 9/16/1999. HAVE YET TO "TEST" NEW PARTS. AIRCONDITIONER REEKS OF STRONG ODOR SINCE 1ST USE. REPORTED TO DEALER WHO USED A SPRAY IN THE AIRCON BUT SYSTEM STILL SMELLS STRONGLY. HAVE NOT REPORTED ABS BRAKE SITUATION TO DEALER AS THIS HAS OCCURRED 3X. HAVE NEVER HAD ABS BRAKES BEFORE & THOUGHT IT WAS "NORMAL." IF STOPPING VERY SUDDENLY, ENTIRE VEHICLE SHUDDERS AND VIBRATES. HAS NOT HAPPENED RECENTLY AS A SHORT-STOPPING SITUATION HAS NOT ARISEN. DO NOT KNOW IF BRAKE/VEHICLE SHUDDER IS NORMAL?
BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED ON TWO OCCASIONS DUE TO FAILURE OF THE (1ST FAILURE) ABS VALVE AND (2ND FAILURE) MASTER CYLINDER LEAKAGE. THE SYSTEMS ARE DESIGNED TO ENGAGE IF ONE UNIT FAILS, THEN OTHER WILL ENGAGE, WHICH DID NOT HAPPEN. MJS
IN 30000 MILES WE HAVE REPLACED FRONT ROTORS TWICE, PADS 3 TIMES, AND TIRES TWICE-TOYOTA HAS TOLD US THIS WEAR IS NORMAL

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IT CAUGHT ON FIRE UNDER THE HOOD ON THE LEFT SIDE. THE FIRE WAS PUT OUT BY A OTHER FAMILY MEMBER. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TOTALLED. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
AN ELECTRICAL ENGINEER TESTED THE ORIGINAL BUMPER OF THE 1999 CAMRY AND WAS ABLE TO IGNITE THE BUMPER BY A POCKET LIGHTER WITHIN 45 SECONDS. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
ONGOING PROBLEM WITH AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT COMING ON. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN / OUT OF DEALER'S SHOP ON FOUR OCCASIONS, AND PROBLEM IS STILL UNRESOLVED, EVEN AFTER DEALER REPLACED THE AIR BAG EQUIPMENTS ON 5-26-00. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LATCH WOULD KEEP STICKING. HAPPENS WHEN DOOR IS EITHER LOCKED OR UNLOCKED FROM OUTSIDE OR INSIDE. *AK

UNEXPLAINED ACCELERATION IN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR AT 2800 RPM. THE CAR WILL NOT STOP IN A SAFE DISTANCE.
VEHICKLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH WITH POWER CONTROL MIRRORS AS STATED ON WIDOW STICKER. HOWEVER, POWER CONTROLLED MIRRORS FAILED. TOYOTA HAS NOT RESOLVED TO THIS DATE. *AK
WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND APPLYING THE BRAKES THERE IS A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR BRAKES. CONSUMER REPLACED REAR BRAKE DRUMS. *AK
VEHICLE ROLLS BACKWARDS ON ANY SORT OF INCLINE. THE TRANSMISSIONS WILL NOT HOLD THE CAR ON A HILL EVEN WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IS IN DRIVE. DEALER STATED THIS WAS A "NORMAL OPERATING CONDITION. THE TRANSMISSION HAS ZERO DRAG FOR BEST GAS MILEAGE AND IS NOT DESIGNED TO HOLD CAR WITHOUT THROTTLE PRESSURE." THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. *AK
CONSUMER HAS TO TAKE VEHICLE INTO DEALERSHIP FOR BRAKES EVERY THREE TO FOUR MONTHS. THERE WAS A GRINDING NOISE AT THIS POINT. DEALER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BRAKE PADS HAVE BEEN REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO PREMATURE WEAR, MASTER CYLINDER WAS OUT OF ADJUSTMENT, ROTORS WERE REPLACED. VEHICLE STALLED DUE TO WATER PUMP FAILURE THE WATER PUMP CAME APART AND BROKE THE TIMING BELT. *SLC *AK
FLOORMAT OF 2009 FLOORMAT PREVENTS PROPER BRAKING. *TR
STEERING WHEEL STARTS TO VIBRATE AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 65 AND 68 MPH, AND USUALLY STOPS BEYOND THAT RANGE. IT DOES NOT SEEM TO JEOPARDISE THE SAFETY BUT IS WORRYSOME AND ANNOYING CONSIDERING A BRAND NEW CAR OF THIS MAKE.
EXCESSIVE WEAR OF BRAKE PADS AND FRONT ROTORS; AT 10,000 MILES DEALER HAD TO REPLACE FRONT ROTORS AND PADS. CURRENTLY, AT 21,000 MILES, PROBLEM REOCCURRED. PROBLEM WITH HEADLIGHT NOT ALIGNED. DEALER INFORMED THAT VEHICLE MET MANUFACTURER'S SPECIFICATION AND NOTHING ELSE COULD BE DONE. ALSO, WATER PUMP FAILURE. DEALER NOTIFIED, AND REPAIRS BEING MADE. *AK CONSUMER STATES THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID IS NOT GOOD AND TOYOTA REFUSES TO TEST THE FLUIDS. *SLC
VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE, THE INITIAL INSPECTION INDICATED A FIRE OCCURING IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT OF THE VEHICLE, THE FIRE ORIGINATED AT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT SHIELD, THE FIRE TRANSFERRED FROM THIS AREA TO THE FRONT AND TO THE INTERIOR PORTION OF THE VEHICLE, IT WAS FINALLY DETERMINED THAT THE LOSS RESULTED FROM THE SEPARATION OF THE AIR CONDITIONING SUCTION LINE AT THE EVAPORATOR, ALLOWING REFRIGERANT AND PAG OIL TO BE EXPELLED ON TO THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD, IGNITING AND RESULTING IN THE DAMAGES OBSERVED.*JB
SUNVISOR WAS FLIPPED DOWN TO BE USED. IT FAILED TO STAY IN PLACE. WHEN MAKING RIGHT OR LEFT TURNS, WOULD HIT DRIVER'S HEAD. VEHICLE WAS OUT OF ALIGNMENT. BEEN TO DEALER & INFORMED BY MECHANIC IT WAS CHARACTERISTIC OF VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM WOULD DISAPPEAR AFTER 500 MILES. THE WHEELS WERE NOT BALANCED. AT THE DEALER 4 TIMES FOR WHEELS. BOTH REAR WHEELS COULD NOT BE BALANCED.
A "KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL" WITH "PARTS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER" IS THAT THE DRIVER'S WINDOW TRACK IS APPARENTLY DISFUNCTIONAL AND HAS TO BE REPLACED. I AM UNABLE TO ROLL DOWN THE DRIVER WINDOW AFTER 3 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP ON A NEW CAR. *AK
CONSUMER FEELS A VIBRATION, ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE ON PASSENGER'S SIDE. UPON REMOVING THE STEEL WHEEL RIMS AND PUTTING ON ALLOYED WHEEL RIMS VIBRATION STOPPED. GENERAL MOTORS STEEL WHEEL RIMS ARE NOT PERFECTLY ROUND. *AK
APPLIED BRAKES AND PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR, REAPPLIED BRAKES AGAIN AND PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR AND STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE. THIS HAS OCCURRED 4 TIMES PREVIOUSLY, AFTER EACH INCIDENT, I REVIEWED ABS STOPPING PROCEDURE TO BE SURE IT WASN'T ME. MY SISTER WAS PRESENT DURING 1 EPISODE. *AK
BRAKES WOULD MAKE GRINDING NOISES WHEN THEY WERE APPLIED. WOULD FAIL TO CATCH WHEN TRYING MAKE STOPS, WHICH ARE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO DO. BRAKE SYSTEM WAS REPLACED AT 6,000 MILES & THE STRUTS WERE REPLACED AT 12,000 MILES DUE TO OIL LEAKAGE. *AK
FUEL IS BEING PUSHED THROUGH THE AIR CHECK VALVE IN CALIFORNIA SMOG SYSTEM, WHICH IS ALLOWING FUEL TO FLOW ONTO ENGINE COMPONENTS THAT HEAT UP DURING OPERATION OF VEHICLE. THERE WILL BE PUDDLES OF FUEL UNDER VEHICLE WHEN IT IS PARKED IN ONE POSITION, WHICH COULD BE CONSIDERED A FIRE HAZARD. DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN CONTACTED AND REFUSED TO ASSIST THE CONSUMER. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION/ATTACHMENTS/PHOTOGRAPHS.*AK
2 YEARS AGO, MORE OR LESS, I ADJUSTED THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND THE STEERING WHEEL OF MY 1999 TOYOTA CAMRY LE. SINCE THAT TIME, ON OCCASION, I AM UNKNOWINGLY TURNING ON THE CRUISE CONTROL WHICH IS A BUTTON ON THE END OF AN ARM OFF THE STEERING COLUMN. I CANNOT RESET THE SEAT AND STEERING WHEEL POSITION TO FIT ME BUT I AM VERY WORRIED THAT HAVING THE CRUISE CONTROL OPERATING MY CAR WHEN I DON'T KNOW IT MAY BE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR ME AND MY CAR. *TR
ON 5/29/99, I APPLIED THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES TO AVOID A COLLISION WITH A VEHICLE THAT CUT ME OFF ON A HIGHWAY. IMMEDIATELY, THE CAR SWERVED ACROSS THE HIGHWAY VIOLENTLY AND SPUN IN 360 TURNS TWICE BEFORE BEING HIT BY TWO CARS AND CRASHING INTO A JERSEY BARRIER. NOT ONLY DID THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES FAIL, BUT THE STEERING LOCKED UP AND NONE OF THE AIRBAGS (FRONT OR SIDE) DEPLOYED. THE CAR WAS TOTALED. MY FIANCEE AND I SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. A DRIVER OF ANOTHER CAR HIT US AND CRASHED INTO THE JERSEY BARRIER, SUSTAINING SIGNIFICANT INJURIES.
SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED DUE TO A FAILED CHARCOAL CANISTER. *YH
WHILE DRIVING IN A 50 MPH ZONE ATTEMPING TO CHANGE LANES, DRIVER REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT WAS STOPPED IN THE ROAD. THERE WAS NO DEPLOYMENT OF THE DRIVER'S OR PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAG. THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WAS CAVED IN, THE WINDSHIELD WAS BROKEN, THE PASSENGER'S SIDE DOOR AND SUN ROOF WAS BUCKLED. THE 1986 CADILLAC WAS TOTALLED. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS.
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS AT A COMPLETE STOP THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL GO TO THE FLOOR. THE DEALER HAS INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. *AK
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IN MAY OF 1999 THEY THEN REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AND THE ENTIRED COMPUTER SYSTEM. NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN.
WINDSHIELD WAS SCRATCHED WHEN BOUGHT. DEALER TRY TO POLISH OUT BUT COULDN'T SO REPLACED WINDSHIELD WITH OEM GLASS. REPLACED GLASS HAS EXTREME DISTORTION AND WAVINESS WHEN LOOK OUT TOWARDS REARVIEW MIRROR AND PASSENGER SIDE. TOOK BACK TO DEALER AND THEY ORDERED NEW WINDSHIELD. HAD SAME DISTORTION. DEALER ORDERED MORE WINDSHIELDS AND HAD SAME DISTORTIONS. CONTACTED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE. NOW CUSTOMER SERVICE AND AREA REP TELLING ME ALL TOYOTA CAMRYS HAVE THIS DISTORTION IN GLASS AND IS CONSIDERED A "COMMON ITEM" INSTEAD OF A DEFECT. HAVE CHECKED AFTERMARKET GLASS AND MOST SEEMS TO HAVE SOME DISTORTIONS TO A VARYING DEGREE. THIS DISTORTION IS NOT JUST AT THE EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD AND IS DISTRACTING WHEN DRIVING AND COULD POSSIBLY AFFECT SAFETY. IS THIS A COMMON PROBLEM IN NEW VEHICLES? MY PREVIOUS VEHICLES DID NOT HAVE THIS DISTORTION. GLASS TECHNICIAN CALLS IT "CROSS GRAIN DISTORTION". *AK
DEALERS HAS EVALUATED PROBLEM 3 TIME, TRIED BALANCING TIRES W/NO RESULTS.
WHEN DRIVING AT SLOW SPEED THERE IS A GROANING NOISE COMING FROM THE SUSPENSION DUE TO STRUT ROD FAILURE. OWNER TOLD THERE WAS A SUSPENSION PROBLEM AND THAT TOYOTA IS LOOKING FOR A FIX. *AK *ML
VEHICLE EXPERIENCES ONGOING PROBLEM WITH HEADLIGHTS UNABLETO ADJUST PROPERLY. LEFT SIDE ALWAYS APPEARS TO BE ADJUSTED TOO FAR DOWN, MORE THEN THE RIGHT SIDE. VEHICLE BEEN IN/OUT OF DEALER SHOP ON FIVE OCCASIONS, AND NOTHING CAN BE FOUND WRONG. *AK
I WAS STOPPED WAITING FOR A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. I WAS HIT IN THE REAR BY A 1996 NISSAN MAXIMA TRAVELING IN EXCESS OF 40 MPH. THE IMPACT PUSHED MY CAMRY INTO THE REAR OF A 1989 FORD IN FRONT OF ME. MY CAMRY MADE CONTACT WITH THE FORD ON MY DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT DIRECTLY NEAR THE AIRBAG SENSOR IN MY FRONT LEFT BUMPER AREA. UPON IMPACT BY THE NISSAN IN MY REAR, MY DRIVER'S SEAT COLLAPSED BACKWARD, CAUSING ME TO SLIDE FORWARD UNDERNEATH THE DASHBOARD AND STEERING WHEEL. THE SEATBELT FAILED TO PROPERLY TENSE UP, CAUSING ME TO INJURE MY RIGHT KNEE AND MY ABDOMEN. I WAS THE ONLY DRIVER INJURED IN THIS 3-CAR ACCIDENT, BUT THE EXTENT OF MY INJURIES HAS NOT YET BEEN DETERMINED. BOTH THE AIRBAGS IN THE 1996 NISSAN DEPLOYED PROPERLY, AS WELL AS THE AIRBAG IN THE 1989 FORD, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS ONLY HIT FROM THE REAR BY MY CAMRY. TOYOTA USA HAS BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE INCIDENT, AND HAS ASSURED ME THEY WILL INSPECT MY VEHICLE THIS WEEK. OBVIOUSLY, I BELIEVE STRONGLY THAT THE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED, AND THE SEAT SHOULD NOT HAVE COLLAPSED BACKWARD.
BRAKES HAVE EXPERIENCED GRINDING NOISE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE DEALER HAS REPLACED THE PADS BUT THE PROBLEM REOCCURED, FINALLY THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT A PIN WAS OFF-SHIFT AND THAT THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED, CONSUMER OPENED ARBITRATION CASE. NLM
THE FRONT HEADLIGHTS DO NOT ILLUMINATE ROAD PROPERLY. THEY HAVE BEEN ADJUSTED BY THE DEALER AT LEAST FOUR TIMES. THE LIGHTS STILL DO NOT ILLUMINATE THE ROAD PROPERLY AND ARE A SAFETY CONCERN. FRONT SUSPENSION SHAKES AGGRESIVELY (OFTEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS) MAKING DRIVING VERY DANGTEROUS. SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO CORRECT BY DEALER. PROBLEM STILL OCCURS. ALL FOUR TIRES WORE COMPLETELY OUT IN LESS THAN 12,000 MILES. FRONT END PULLED STRONGLY TO RIGHT. DEALER TRIED TO CORRED SEVERAL TIMES. FRONT END NOW PULLS TO THE LEFT. REAR END "BANGS" AND "BOTTOMS OUT" OFTEN WHILE AT SPEED. DEALER SUGGESTED THAT THIS SAFETY CONCERN IS "TYPICAL" OF THIS CAR. THE TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED TO HOLD CAR WHILE ON AN INCLINE AT LEAST TWICE. WAS NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE FOR DEALER. REAR DOOR HAS NEVER CLOSED PROPERLY. DEALER HAS ATTAMPTED SEVERAL REAPIRS. DOOR STILL "CREEKS AND POPS" WHEN OPENED.
HEADLIGHT SWITCH DOES NOT ALTER HEADLIGHTS REGARDLESS OF POSITION.
AT TIMES WHEN WEARING BOOTS, THE PLASTIC COVERING WHICH IS LOCATED BETWEEN THE GAS PEDAL AND THE BRAKE PEDAL, COULD INTERFERE WITH PEDAL APPLICATION WHICH MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. *AK
