THE CONSUMER DROVE TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE VEHICLE INSPECTED. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. PLEASE FILL IN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB

THE OUTER EDGE OF TIRES STARTED WEARING BALD JUST AFTER 15,000 MILES. CAR WAS SERVICED AT 15,000 AT DEALERSHIP AND ALIGNMENT CHECKED OUT OK. AT 19,000 STEEL BELTS STARTED APPEARING ON FRONT SET OF TIRES. CONTINENTAL WAS CONTACTED AND REQUESTED CAR MANUFACTURER.*AK
MY WIFE WAS INVOLVED IN A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT IN HER 2003 TOYOTA CAMRY ON 10/05/04. WHILE PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE SHE STATED THAT THE CAR ACCELERATED AND THAT SHE COULD NOT GET IT TO STOP. THE TRAFFIC ACCIDENT REPORT QUOTES HER AS SAYING "SHE HAD NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND SAID THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE MECHANICALLY. THE DEALERSHIP REPAIRED THE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE BUT I DO NOT FIND ANY INDICATION THAT THE PROBLEM OF THE ACCELERATOR WAS ADDRESSED. WE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT COURSE OF ACTION WE SHOULD TAKE. *TR
BRAKES ON VEHICLE ARE UNUSUALLY SOFT AND REQUIRE AN ABNORMAL AMOUNT OF TRAVEL BEFORE THEY ENGAGE.*AK
WHEN THE GEAR WAS PLACED IN REVERSE, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND HIT A CONCRETE WALL. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *JB GAS PEDDLE STUCK AND BRAKES WOULD NOT HOLD THE CAR FROM MOVING. CONSUMER WAS INJURED AS A RESULT OF ACCIDENT. THE CONSUMER SPRAINED HER LEG AS A RESULT OF PUTTING SO MUCH FORCE ON THE BRAKE TRYING TO STOP THE VEHICLE. *TC
2003 TOYOTA CAMRY. WE HAVE HAD THE CAR SINCE NEW. I ALWAYS THOUGHT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES-THE PEDAL NEARS THE FLOOR BEFORE BRAKING ACTION BEGINS. REPORTED TO DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES. THEY MAINTAIN THE BRAKES ARE FINE AND UP TO SPECS. I HAD THE FRONT ROTORS AND PADS CHANGED ALONG WITH NEW SHOES ON THE REAR-EVEN THOUGH THE ORIGINAL PARTS WERE NOT WORN OUT-AND STOPPING IMPROVED ALTHOUGH THERE IS STILL AN AWFUL LOT OF PEDAL TRAVEL BEFORE BRAKING TAKES PLACE. I FEEL THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE MASTER CYLINDER THAT SHOULD BE RECTIFIED BY TOYOTA MOTOR CO. I THINK THE RECENT EVENTS WITH THEIR VEHICLE RECALLS IS JUST THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG. *TR
WHILE BACKING OUT OF DRIVEWAY, WITH FOOT ON BRAKE PEDAL, I SHIFTED THE 2003 CAMRY FROM PARK INTO REVERSE. THE CAR IMMEDIATELY ACCELERATED BACKWARD AT HIGH SPEED OUT OF DRIVEWAY, CROSSED THE ROAD, AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. 3 PEOPLE IN CAR, NO INJURIES. SO FAR, ESTIMATED BODY DAMAGE IS ABOUT $8000, BUT UNDERCARRIAGE HAS YET TO BE INSPECTED. REASON FOR SUDDEN ACCELERATION IS UNKNOWN.AK
COMPLAINT RECEIVED VIA E-MAIL THIS CAR PULLS TO THE LEFT AND STEERING FEELS LOOSE AND CAR DRIFTS. DEALERSHIP IS NOT PROVIDING ANY ASSISTANCE. ALIGNMENT AND TIRE BALANCING DID NOT HELP. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE.*AK
WHEN DRIVING 30 MPH RPMS ACCELERATED TO 80 MPH. THIS CAUSED THE CONSUMER TO GO OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
I WAS DRIVING NORTH ON ROUTE 93 IN MY 2003 TOYOTA CAMRY DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC WHEN TRAFFIC WENT FROM APPROX. 40 MPH TO A SUDDEN STOP. THE CARS IN FRONT OF ME ALL JAMMED ON THERE BRAKES AND SUCCESSFULLY STOPPED, BUT WHEN I STEPPED ON MY BRAKES, I COULD FEEL THE BRAKE PEDAL COMPRESSING AND DOING SOMETHING, BUT I WAS UNABLE TO BARELY EVEN SLOW DOWN FROM APPROX. 3 CAR LENGTHS AWAY. I HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND MY CAR CRUMBLED. MY 2 COMPLAINTS ARE THAT THE BRAKES DEFINITELY HAVE A MALFUNCTION ALONG WITH THE AIR BAGS NOT DEPLOYING. LUCKILY, I HAD MY SEAT BELT ON. THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE DRY AND WEATHER WAS SUNNY AND CLEAR. AFTER THIS ACCIDENT AND MY CAR HAS BEEN REPAIRED, I WILL BE TRADING MY CAR IN AND NEVER BUY A TOYOTA AGAIN. *JB
ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING ON FREQUENTLY FOR THE LAST 30 TO 35K MILES AND HEADQUARTER TOYOTA HAS CHARGED ME TOO REPLACE SEVERAL DIFFERENT ITEMS RELATED TO THE COMPUTER CODE GIVEN, TOTALING SOME $1,200.00 AND NOW THEY HAVE HAD MY CAR FOR NEARLY 1-MONTH AND NOW SAYS THEY CAN NOT FIX THE PROBLEM WE WENT TODAY TOO PICKUP THE CAR , OF COURSE THEIR IS NO FURTHER PAPER WORK EXCEPT THAT THEY CHECKED THE CAR IN BACK IN SEPTEMBER/2006. I HAVE BEEN CHARGED FOR ALL TYPES OF CURES FOR WHICH THEY TOO DID NOT WORK, NOT AFFORDED A RENTAL REPLACEMENT BUT FOR 3 PRIOR DAYS ???? *NM

WHILE PARKING VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO A WALL. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. NO INJURIES REPORTED. *AK
CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL 04-V346-000 FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE CURTAIN SHIELD AIR BAG. NO PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. SERVICE MANAGER CATHY. *AK *TC
I STEPPED ON THE BRAKES OF MY 2003 TOYOTA CAMRY TO SLOW DOWN IN PREPARATION OF A LANE CHANGE WHILE I WAS TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED (APPROX. 50MPH) DURING RUSH HOUR ON I-15 NORTHBOUND, A MAJOR LAS VEGAS HIGHWAY (4 LANES WIDE + SHOULDER AND EXIT LANE). TO MY SURPRISE THE ABS BRAKES KICKED IN AND SHUDDERED UNDERFOOT. I WAS NOT ATTEMPTING A FULL STOP AND HAD NOT ATTEMPTED TO STOP SHORT. I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKES (FOOT WAS NOT ON ANY PEDAL) BUT THE ABS REMAINED ENGAGED AND THERE WAS A SENSE OF BOTH ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION SIMULTANEOUSLY. I IMMEDIATELY TRIED AGAIN TO ENGAGE THE BRAKES WHEN MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED. I WAS COMPLETELY SHOCKED BY THIS OCCURRENCE BUT REMAINED CALM WHILE IN DISBELIEF MY CAR BEGAN TO SKID UNCONTROLLABLY AROUND THE EXTREMELY CONGESTED FREEWAY. AS MY POWER STEERING WAS DISABLED I COULD BARELY AVOID SEVERAL COLLISIONS AS I TRIED TO FIRMLY ENGAGE MY BRAKES. I PRAYED TO GOD TO WATCH OVER ME AND HELD ON TO THE STEERING WHEEL FOR DEAR LIFE. MY CAR WAS VEERING BUT NOT SLOWING AS IT SHOULD UNTIL FINALLY MY CAR STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE IMPACT SENT MY CAR INTO A FULL 360 TURN. FINALLY THE CAR CAME TO A STOP WITH ME FACING ONCOMING TRAFFIC. MY CAR SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE BUT MY AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. NO SAFETY WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON IN MY CAR PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT. I AM EXTREMELY LUCKY THAT BOTH THE DRIVER OF THE OTHER CAR AND I WERE ABLE TO WALK OUT OF OUR CARS UNASSISTED AFTER THE ACCIDENT, THOUGH BOTH OF US HAD NECK/SHOULDER/BACK STRAIN LATER. NEVADA HIGHWAY PATROL WAS ON SCENE AND TOOK A REPORT. I HAVE REQUESTED A FULL SAFETY INVESTIGATION AND AM AWAITING RESPONSE FROM TOYOTA CORPORATION. *AK
WHILE APPLYING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL VEHICLE ACCELERATED UNCONTROLLABLY. CONSUMER WAS NOT ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND COLLIDED WITH THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. UPON IMPACT,BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. DRIVER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES, AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL BY AN AMBULANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. *AK

THE CONSUMER PARKED THE VEHICLE AND EXITED TO RETRIEVE A GAS CAN. WHEN THE CONSUMER TURNED AROUND THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING FORWARD INTO HER GARAGE. *NM *SC *JB
2003 TOYOTA CAMRY LE WITH ANTI-LOCK BRAKES - BRAKES SLIP AND VEHILE DOES NOT SLOW DOWN WHEN APPLIED ON A BUMPY SURFACE. *AK
WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL IT MAKES A VERY AWKWARD SQUEAKING SOUND. I NOTICED THE SQUEAKING IN THE WINTER OF 2004. IT DOES IT ALL THE TIME MOST NOTICEABLY DURING COLD WEATHER. I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AROUND JULY 2006. THEY LUBRICATED IT AND IT STOPPED FOR A WHILE. I HAD TO TAKE IT BACK IN DECEMBER OF 2006 TO HAVE IT LUBRICATED AGAIN. I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, BUT I WISH IT COULD BE CORRECTED. *JB
REARVIEW MIRROR INADEQUATE SERIOUS BLIND SPOTS. WORSE THAN ANY OTHER CAR I HAVE DRIVEN IN 40 YEARS! 2003 TOYOTA CAMRY-ALL. *AK

REF: MY EARLIER ODI #10047147 AND ODI #10080438. 2003 CAMRY (CURRENTLY 7700 MILES). GRADUAL RIGHT DRIFT SINCE PURCHASE JANUARY 2003. A TOTAL OF 10 NEW BRIDGESTONE 15" POTENZA RE92 TIRES (INCLUDING THE 4 ORIGINAL TIRES THAT CAME ON THE NEW VEHICLE) WERE MOUNTED ON THE CAR OVER A 4 MONTH PERIOD. RIGHT DRIFT WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE SERVICE MANAGER OF THE TOYOTA DEALER WHERE CAR WAS ORIGINALLY PURCHASED REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND/OR CORRECT PROBLEM. THE SERVICE MANAGER OF SECOND TOYOTA DEALER PROMPTLY ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM, DIAGNOSED TIRES AS THE CAUSE, AND CORRECTED IT. ONCE TIRES WERE MOUNTED ON THE VEHICLE THAT WERE OTHER THAN BRIDGESTONE, THE RIGHT DRIFT WAS CORRECTED. THE VEHICLE NOW IS A SAFE AND ENJOYABLE VEHICLE TO DRIVE. *AK
CAR PULLS LEFT INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. CAR IS UNUSUALLY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IN MODERATE WINDS. CAR REQUIRES UNUSUALLY HIGH DEGREE OF CONCENTRATION TO KEEP DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE. DEALER HAS ATTEMPTED REPAIR 5 TIMES, INCLUDING APPLICATION OF TOYOTA TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN, WITH NO IMPROVEMENT. OTHER OWNERS ARE REPORTING SIMILAR PROBLEMS ON THE TOYOTAOWNERSCLUB WEBSITE AND OTHER FORUMS.*AK
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK SUDDENLY VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD. CONSUMER WAS DEPRESSING THE BRAKES, BUT, VEHICLE JUMPED A CURB, STRUCK A BENCH, AND SEVERAL OTHER ITEMS. CONSUMER WAS NOT INJURED IN THE INCIDENT. DEALER EXAMINED THE VEHICLE, AND CLAIMED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. *AK THE CONSUMER STATES THAT THE MALFUNCTION MAY HAVE BEEN CAUSE BECAUSE OF THE A/C CYCLED THROUGH ON/OFF. RPM INCREASED. A WITNESS STATED THAT HE HEARD THE ENGINE RACING. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE A/C WAS ON. THE INCIDENT WAS REPORTED TO THE BUILDING SECURITY. *TC
WITH ONLY 17000 MILE ON THE CAR I HAD TO HAVE ALL THE FUEL INJECTORS REPLACED AND HAVE THE ENGINE DE-CARBONIZE. EALER REPLACED THE INJECTORS, CHARGED ME FOR THE DE-CARBONIZE AND SUGGESTED TO SWITCH OFTEN TO DIFFERENT FUEL MANUFACTURES AND A REMENDY, BUT COULD NOT GUARANTEE THAT IT WOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN.*AK
CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT A BRAKE PROBLEM SINCE SHE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD. THEN, BRAKES WOULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. SHE TOLD DEALER ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. CONSUMER INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. *AK
2003 TOYOTA CAMRY PROBLEMS WITH LEFT PULL.*MR THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE LEFT WHILE DRIVING. THE TECHNICIAN TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND INDICATED IT WAS EITHER AN ALIGNMENT PROBLEM OR TIRES. THE TECHNICIAN THEN REALIGNED THE VEHICLE BUT THE ALIGNMENT WAS OUTSIDE OF THE MANUFACTURES SPECIFICATION. THE CONSUMER INDICATED THAT THE PULL IS DIMINISHED, IF NOT GENERALLY GONE, BUT IS CONCERN ABOUT THE PARAMETERS OF THE ALIGNMENT. THE CONSUMER BELIEVES IF THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE ALIGNED OUT OF SPECIFICATION THAT THE PROBLEM MAY BE WITH THE TIRES. *NM
WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH VEHICLE STALLED. CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO RESTART VEHICLE, AND HAD IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND REPLACED IT. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH AND APPLYING THE BRAKES PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING. DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES, AND INDICATED THAT VEHICLE OPERATED AS DESIGNED BY THE MANUFACTURER. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKES. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM HAD NOT BEEN RESOLVED. *AK *TC
THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD EVEN WHEN THE HER FOOT WAS ON THE BREAK. THE BREAK PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, WHEN APPLIED. PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB
WE FILLED UP OUR 2003 CAMRY LE AT COSTCO (ON A MONDAY). WE SHOPPED AT COSTCO AND THEN DROVE ABOUT 17 MILES TO OUR HOME. WE BACKED UP OUR INCLINE DRIVEWAY AND UNLOADED THE TRUNK. WE DROVE TO SAFEWAY (ABOUT 2 MILES AWAY) THAT SAME DAY AND DROPPED A RELATIVE AT THEIR HOUSE ABOUT A MILE AWAY. WE DROVE A TOTAL OF ABOUT 25 MILES AFTER THE FILL UP AT COSTCO. THE CAMRY WAS NOT DRIVEN FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK UNTIL FRIDAY. ON FRIDAY THE CAR WAS DRIVEN NO MORE THAN THREE MILES BEFORE IT STARTED TO HESITATE AND THEN STALLED. IT DID THIS FOUR TIMES BEFORE GETTING BACK TO THE HOUSE. WE HAD IT TOWED TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. WE WERE TOLD THAT WE OVERFLOWED THE FUEL TANK AND THE CARBON CANISTER WAS FILLED WITH GAS. THIS CAUSED THE COMPUTER TO STALL THE CAR OUT BECAUSE IT IS SENSING AN OVER RICH CONDITION. THE PROBLEM IS WE DID NOT OVERFILL THE FUEL TANK AND WE DROVE IT FOR FAR TOO LONG FOR THIS TO BE WHAT CAUSED THE CARBON FILTER TO HAVE GOTTEN GAS IN IT. MAYBE BACKING UP THE DRIVEWAY WITH A FULL TANK CAUSED THE PROBLEM, BUT THAT IS A FLAW IN THE ENGINEERING OF THE CAR, NOT A MISTAKE BY THE CONSUMER. THE REPAIR AND TOWING COST 780 DOLLARS.*AK
WHEN THE CONSUMER ATTEMPTED TO PARK, THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD. THIS CAUSED THE CONSUMER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND HIT A TREE HEAD ON. UPON IMPACT, BOTH AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *AK THE VEHICLE WAS ALMOST AT A COMPLETE STOP, IN WHICH THE CONSUMER HAD HER FOOT LIGHTLY RESTING ON THE BRAKE, WHEN THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION OCCURRED. *SC *JB

REQUIRES CONSTANT ATTENTION/CORRECTION. VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE, OTHER THAN FOR LOCAL SHORT TRIPS. TIRES AS CAUSE HAVE BEEN ELIMINATED. TOYOTA DEALER, AFTER TEST DRIVE AT 7468 MILES REVEALED VEHICLE DID INDEED DRIFT EXCLUSIVELY RIGHT, AND INFORMED ME: (1) VEHICLE DRIVES LIKE ALL 2003 CAMRY'S (2) THAT HE COULD MAKE NO ALIGNMENT ADJUSTMENT THAT WOULD IMPROVE CAR'S DRIVING PERFORMANCE, (3) THAT THE ONSET OF RIGHT DRIFT AS EARLY AS 2 SEC. AFTER ESTABLISHMENT OF A STRAIGHT TRACK WAS TOYOTA-ACCEPTABLE, (4) THAT DRIFT EXCLUSIVELY RIGHT WAS TOYOTA-ACCEPTABLE, (5) THAT PROBLEM OFTEN IS "OVER-SENSITIVE" DRIVER, (6) THAT HE WOULD NOT CONSIDER EXPLORING APPLICABILITY OF TSB ST002-04 AS POSSIBLE CORRECTION, AND (7) THAT MY OPTIONS ARE TO EITHER ACCEPT THE CONDITION OR GO TO ARBITRATION. AT REGIONAL LEVEL (TOYOTA CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE CENTER, TORRENCE, CA) I WAS TOLD THAT ALL SUCH PROBLEMS WERE HANDLED EXCLUSIVELY AT THE DEALER LEVEL, AND THAT I SHOULD CONSIDER DRIVING OTHER 2003 CAMRY'S (IMPLIED: I MIGHT THEREBY CONVINCE MYSELF THAT MY VEHICLE DROVE "NORMALLY"! A MOST INTERESTING AND REVEALING APPROACH TO A CUSTOMER COMPLAINT!) I HAVE RECENTLY CONTACTED A SECOND TOYOTA DEALER THAT INDICATED THAT IT IS INDEED POSSIBLE TO GET A "FIELD TECHNICAL REP" TO LOOK AT THE PROBLEM (I AM ANXIOUS TO SEE HOW THIS PLAYS OUT, BUT MY FRUSTRATION IS OBVIOUS). WHILE PULLING INSIDE OF A PARKING SPACE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER PLACED BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKES, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. IT JUMPED A CURB AND COLLIDED WITH A GLASS WINDOW INSIDE A STORE. UPON IMPACT, BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. HOWEVER, THERE WERE NO INJURIES. *AK *JB
WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, CONSUMER DEPRESS BRAKES TO MAKE A STOP. WITHOUT ANY INDICATION, THE VEHICLE SURGED. THE DRIVER TRIED TO STOP THE VEHICLE BUT AT AN EXTENDED DISTANCE. IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE THE CONSUMER SHIFT GEAR INTO NEUTRAL. *AK
AS WE WERE PULLING OUT OF OUR PARKING SPACE ON THIS DAY, OUR 2003 TOYOTA CAMRY SEEMED TO ACCELERATE WHILE THE BRAKE WAS PRESSED. IN TURN WE SLAMMED INTO A PARKED CAR WHICH THEN HIT ANOTHER CAR, THAT HIT ANOTHER CAR. LUCKILY NONE WAS CRITICALLY INJURED THOUGH SOME MINOR INJURIES OCCURRED TO MY WIFE UPON IMPACT. ALSO, EVER SINCE WE HAVE BOUGHT THE CAR IT HAS DONE THIS FROM TIME TO TIME OR WE HAVE HAD TROUBLE WITH THE BRAKES. UPON TAKING TO THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES, THEY ASSURED ME THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE BRAKES OR ANYTHING ELSE. I FEEL THAT THIS NEEDS TO BE THOROUGHLY INVESTIGATED BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED OR CRITICALLY INJURED. IN MY EYES THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. NOT TO MENTION THE DAMAGE THAT WAS DONE TO OUR CAR AND THE OTHER INNOCENT VICTIM'S VEHICLES. *LA

TL*THE CONTACT OWNED A 2003 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE SITTING IDLE AT A TRAFFIC STOP, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND PROCEEDED TO ACCELERATE THROUGH A RED LIGHT. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND HE ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO FAILURES WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CONFIRMED SHE HAD EXPERIENCED UNINTENDED ACCELERATION IN THE VEHICLE ON FIVE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE DEALER WAS INFORMED AGAIN OF THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE WAS REPLACED. ON MAY 13, 2004, WHILE STOPPED, THE VEHICLE WAS T-BONED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE AT AN ESTIMATED SPEED OF 50-55MPH. THE SIDE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY AT ANYTIME FROM THE CRASH. *JB THE SIDE AIR BAG SPLIT THE SEAT BACK UPHOLSTERY BUT FAILED TO FULLY DEPLOY. *SC *JB
ON MAY 12, 2004 AT TIME 15:33 .MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR 2003 TOYOTA CAMRY. ND WAS TWO BLOCKS FROM OUR HOUSE, MAKING A RIGHT TURN FROM FARMS RD CIRCLE ONTO RANGER ROAD. AS SHE MADE THE RIGHT TURN, THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, AUSING HER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR, CAUSING HER TO JUMP THE CURB ON THE LEFT IDE OF THE STREET, AND STRIKE A PORTABLE BASSKETBALL NET/POLE ON THE CURB IN FRONT OF THE CORNER HOUSE . THE POLE SMASHED IN THE FRONT ROOF OF THE CAR AND SMASHED THE WINDSHIELD. THE CAR CONTINUED DOWN THE GRASS CURB AND ITS UNDERCARRIAGE STRUCK THE CURB WHILE GOING BACK ONTO RANGER ROAD. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. FORTUNATELY, NO ONE WAS INJURED. THE CAR WAS DAMAGED. *AK

IN AN ONLINE MESSAGE BOARD, I NOTICED A CAMRY OWNER DISCUSSING THEIR "LEAN LEFT" PROBLEM, WHICH I SHARE AS WELL. SHORTLY AFTER HAVING MY CAR FOR 6 MONTHS (2003 LE MODEL PURCHASED IN NOV 2002) I NOTICED THE CAR SLIGHTLY PULLING TO THE LEFT. OVER TIME, AND EVEN WITH NUMEROUS ALIGNMENTS, THE LEAN HAS GOTTEN WORSE. SOUNDS LIKE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG MANY CAMRY OWNERS AND I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF TOYOTA HAS SOMETHING IN MIND TO HELP CORRECT THE SITUATION. ANY COMMENTS WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANK YOU. *LA
