2003 TOYOTA CAMRY 3.0L V6 (MIDYEAR 210HP MOTOR) THE VEHICLE DID NOT ACCELERATE THE WAY IT WAS DESIGNED. THE TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVE STATED IT WAS NORMAL. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED IT WAS DANGEROUS WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS PRESSED, BECAUSE SOMETIMES THE VEHICLE DID NOT MOVE IMMEDIATELY. WHEN THE PEDAL ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS PUSHED FURTHER TOWARD THE FLOOR, THE VEHICLE BOLTED OUT INTO TRAFFIC WITH A RUSH OF POWER. THE TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVE STATED THAT WAS HOW THE CAR WAS ENGINEERED, AND HE COULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THE LEAD MECHANIC SAID THE CONSUMER NEEDED TO GET USED TO IT. IT HAD BEEN 5 MONTHS SINCE THE CONSUMER PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. *AK *TS *JB
SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE WE BEGAN FEELING A "BUCKING" SENSATION IN THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION WHEN OUR NEW 2003 CAMRY WOULD SHIFT FROM OVER DRIVE INTO A LOWER GEAR. IT ONLY HAPPENS IN A NARROW RANGE OF SPEED AND ENGINE RPM BUT WHEN IT HAPPENS - THERE IS NO MISTAKING THE "STUTTER". THIS "NARROW RANGE" IS RIGHT AT 38-40 MPH / ~1200 RPM WHICH IS THE SPEED WE COMMONLY TRAVEL ON THE SECONDARY ROADS. *JB
CONSUMER STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE LEFT AT ANY SPEED. *AK ON A FLAT ROAD, THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE LEFT SLIGHTLY. ON CROWNED ROADS IN PASSING LANES, THE VEHICLE PULLED MORE DRAMATICALLY TO THE LEFT. ON THREE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS THE DEALERSHIP ATTEMPTED TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM, BUT SUGGESTED THE VEHICLE WAS WITHIN THE SPECIFICS. IN ATTEMPTS TO FIX THE VEHICLE THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. *SCC *JB
I PURCHASED A 2003 TOYOTA CAMRY AND DISCOVERED WHAT I THINK IS A SAFETY CONCERN.THE TURN SIGNAL LEFT OR RIGHT DOES NOT SHUT OFF AUTOMATICLY WHEN EXITING OR ENTERING A RAMP OR WHEN TAKING A TURN THAT DOES NOT REQUIER A FULL TURN OF THE STEERING WHEEL.MY WIFE BEEN IN TWO ALTERCATIONS ,ONE OF ROAD RAGE FROM ANOTHER DRIVER AND THE OTHER WAS A NEAR ACCIDENT ALL DUE TO SIGNAL NOT SHUTING OFF AUTOMATICLY WHEN RETURNING THE STEERING WHEEL BACK FROM MAKING A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN .NEVER IN THE 26 YEARS OF MY DRIVING CARS AND TRUCKS HAVE I HAD VEHICLE THAT HAS DONE THIS AND I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I CALLED TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THEY SAID FLAT OUT THAT THEY DO NOT OWE ME AN EXPLINATION .ITS TO BAD I EXPECTED A MORE RESPONSIBLE REPLY FROM ONE OF THE WORLD'S BEST CAR MANUFACTURERS
THE POWER WINDOWS WENT UP BY THEMSELVES, WITHOUT THE BUTTON BEING PRESSED.*JB
FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AND REAR PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELTS LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING. THIS CAUSED BRUISES ON THE CHEST OF PASSENGERS IN THOSE SEATING POSITIONS. DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE OR DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. *AK
THERE IS A CRACKING SOUND COMING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE DRIVER SIDE WINDSHIELD. THE DEALER CHECK THE VEHICLE AND STATED THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER ONE YEAR AGO AND THEY STATED THEY HAD NO RECORD. *JB. NOISE WAS CAUSED BY OOSE MOLDING, WHICH IS COSMETIC AND NOT SAFETY RELATED. *AK
MY COMPLAINT IS ABOUT THE FRONT SUSPENSION OF MY CAMRY> SUSPENSION APPEARS TO BE OFF FROM FACTORY AND IT CAUSES UNEVEN WEAR OF THE FRONT TIRES> MY VEHICLE HAS ABOUT 52 K MILES AND IT'S HAD 4 SETS OF TIRES ALREADY. 2003 TOYOTA MR2 SPYDER - COMPLETE LOSS OF CONTROL OF VEHICLE, BOTH STEERING AND BRAKING CONTROL, WITHOUT WARNING OR UNUSUAL CAUSE UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS AT SPEEDS LESS THAN 25 MPH. TOYOTA DEALER EXAMINED VEHICLE AND STATES THAT VEHICLE IS DRIVABLE AND MEETS DESIGN INTENT. TOYOTA DEALER STATES THAT PROBLEM CAN NOT BE REPAIRED AND RECOMMENDS SNOW TIRES. SNOW TIRES THAT MEET TOYOTA SPECS ARE NOT COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE.*JB
I HAD BACKED OUT OF PARKING SPACE. WHEN I PUT 2003 TOYOTA CAMRY IN DRIVE, IT SURGED FORWARD. I BRAKED BUT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. I DEPRESSED BRAKE FULLY, NONETHELESS THE CAR ACCELERATED UNCONTROLLABLY AND VERY QUICKLY. VEHICLE ONLY STOPPED BY VIOLENT COLLISION WITH TWO PARKED VEHICLES AND CEMENT BLOCKS. ONLY GOOD FORTUNE PREVENTED DEATHS OF ANY PASSERS BY. WITNESSES OBSERVED MY FOOT FULLY ON THE DEPRESSED BRAKE PEDAL AS THE CAR WAS AT REST AFTER THE ACCIDENT.
I HAVE TAKEN MY 2003 CAMRY LE TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS 3 TIMES FOR THE PROBLEM OF IT PULLING TO THE LEFT. I BROUGHT MY BRAND NEW CAR IN FOR THE FIRST TIME WITHIN ONE MONTH OF PURCHASE. THE SECOND TIME I BROUGHT MY CAR IN, THE PULL LEFT HAD CAUSED MY TIRES UNEVEN, PREMATURE WEAR. MY TIRES NEEDED REPLACEMENT AT 15,000 MILES, ALTHOUGH THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD LAST FOR 20,000 AND THIS WAS "CLOSE ENOUGH." I TOOK MY CAR TO A SERPARATE BUSINESS AS I DID NOT RECEIVE AN ACCEPTABLE RESPONSE FROM SEVEAL EMPLOYEES AT THIS TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. ADDITIONALLY, THE OWNER REFUSED TO CALL ME DESPITE SIGNS PLASTERED AROUND THE DEALERSHIP STATING THAT HE CARES AND TO ASK FOR HIM. FOR THE THIRD TRIP REGARDING THE CAR PULLING LEFT, I TOOK IT TO A NEW TOYOTA DEALER. DESPITE AN IMPROVEMENT IN CUSTOMER SERVICE, THEY WERE ALSO UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. BY THE NEXT DAY, MY CAR WAS PULLING LEFT AGAIN. THIS DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT I HAD A "TIRE PULL," AND PUT THIS IN WRITING. I WAS TOLD THAT THE TIRES THAT HAD BEEN PLACED ON MY CAR WERE MADE INCORRECTLY AND CAUSED THE CAR TO PULL TO THE LEFT. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED IN TOYOTA. THIS IS MY FIRST NEW CAR AND I SPECIFICALLY PURCHASED IT DUE TO ITS REPUTATION AND SUPPOSED RELIABILITY. I HOPE THAT CHANGES ARE MADE TO REGAIN CUSOTMER CONFIDENCE AND ALLOW FOR SATISFACTION AND SAFETY AMONG TOYOTA OWNERS.

THE CD CHANGER INITIALLY HAD ISSUES WITH PLAYING CDR (CDS MADE ON A COMPUTER AT HOME). IT WOULD SKIP ALL OF THE TIME. IT ALSO HAD ISSUES WITH REGULAR CDS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO FAST-FORWARD OR REVERSE TO A SPECIFIC AREA OF A SONG TRACK. IT TOOK A VISIT AND A COUPLE TELEPHONE CALLS TO TOYOTA'S CUSTOMER SERVICE TO GET THEM TO AGREE TO REPLACE THE CD CHANGER. EVER SINCE THIS WAS REPLACED, I HAVE HAD NO FURTHER ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE SINCE THEN. HOWEVER, IN THE CAMRY THAT I HAD AS A LOANER WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN ON 7/28/03, THAT VEHICLE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH ITS CD CHANGER AND I TOLD THE SERVICE MANAGER ABOUT IT. THE MOON ROOF HAS HAD ISSUES SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS ORIGINALLY PURCHASED IN JANUARY 2003. BASICALLY, IT HAS BEEN LEAKING AND A WATER NOISE IS HEARD WHEN OPERATING THE VEHICLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, WHICH IS NOT NORMAL AND THE RADIO NEEDS TO BE TURNED UP TO DROWN THE SOUND OUT. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS FOR FOUR TIMES. THE LAST TIME IT WAS IN WAS ON 7/28/2003. AT THAT POINT OF TIME, THE MOON ROOF WAS NOT EVEN CLOSING COMPLETELY. TOYOTA FLEW A FIELD TECHNICIAN FROM CALIFORNIA TO KANSAS CITY FOR THE REPAIR. HE CLAIMS THAT THE REASON FOR THE MOON ROOF NOT CLOSING WAS BECAUSE THE BATTERY WAS DISCONNECTED WHEN THE HEATED LEATHER SEATS WERE INSTALLED AND THAT CAUSED THE TIMING FOR THE ROOF TO BECOME CORRUPTED. THE DEALERSHIP NEVER SAW THIS PROBLEM EVER WITH ANY 2002-2003 MODEL CAMRY AND THAT IS WHY A FIELD TECH WAS SENT OUT. AFTER HE FIXED THE SUNROOF, I WAS ASSURED BY CHARLES EPP, TOYOTA'S REGIONAL MANAGER, THAT MY VEHICLE WAS FULLY REPAIRED AND HE PERSONALLY ASSURED ME THAT IT WAS TESTED FOR WATER ISSUES TOO AND THAT EVERYTHING WAS CORRECTED BY RESETTING THE TIMING. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE SHORTLY AFTER THE REPAIR, THE MOON ROOF IS STILL LEAKING AND HAVING WATER NOISES DURING HIGHWAY OPERATIONS DURING RAINSTORMS. RECENTLY, I HAD AN ARBITRATION HEARING AT JAY WOLFE TOYOTA WITH AN ARBITRATOR FROM NCDS.
VEHICLE SHUDDERED AROUND 40 MPH RELATED TO THE TRANSMISSION. THE DEALER PERFORMED ALL APPLICABLE TSBS BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTED. ALSO EXHIBITED A SEVERE SHUDDER TWICE AT 70 MPH. *TT
I AM VERY CONCERNED WITH THE BRAKES ON MY '03 CAMRY LE. WHEN CONTINUED OR STRONG PRESSURE IS APPLIED TO THE BRAKES THE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR. ON SAID DATE I REAR-ENDED SOMEONE BECAUSE OF THIS DEFICIT. TOYOTA LEGAL GOT INVOLVED AND SAID IT WAS 'NORMAL'. THE BRAKING SYSTEM IS VERY DANGEROUS & MISLEADING! *NLM
THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR IN EMERGENCY SITUATIONS BUT THE CAR DOES NOT DECELERATE ANY HARDER. I HAVE NOTIFIED THE MFG NUMEROUS TIMES, EVEN GOT THEIR LEGAL DEPT INVOLVED (CASE # 200301090284) ACCORDING TO TOYOTA THIS IS BY DESIGN - EVEN THOUGH THE BRAKE PEDAL HEIGHT & STOPPING DISTANCES ARE OUTSIDE THE PUBLISHED SPECS. I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THE NTTSA WEBSITE AND AM CONCERNED THIS HAS FALLEN IN A CRACK. THE EXHAUST SYSTEM ON MY 03 CAMRY HANGS DOWN. IT IS 4 INCHES OFF THE GROUND. I HAVE TRIED TO GET TOYOTA TO FIX IT BUT THEY SAY IT'S THE DESIGN INTENT. I'M AFRAID THAT IF THE CAR BOTTOMS OUT THE SYSTEM WILL FLY OFF THE CAR. I WATCH TWO PEOPLE DIE BECAUSE A MUFFLER FLEW OFF A VEHICLE AND WEDGED ITSELF INTO THE GAS TANK OF A TRUCK. IT CAUGHT THE HIGHWAY ON FIRE AND KILLED THE GUYS IN THE TRUCK. THE SYSTEM IS NOT INSTALLED ON THE CAR CORRECTLY. THERE IS A BRACKET THAT IS NOT HOOKED UP AND THE SYSTEM DOES NOT TUCK INTO THE EXHAUST CHANNEL. ALL THE CAMRY AND OTHER MODELS ON THIS FRAME ARE LIKE THIS. PLEASE HELP. *JB
CAR STALLS (GAS PEDAL DOES NOT RESPOND) WHEN TURNING INTO TRAFFIC. ALSO WHEN SLOWING TO A LOW SPEED AND THEN ACCELERATING. THIS HAS CAUSED US TO ALMOST BE HIT SEVERAL TIMES IN THE SIDE AND IN THE REAR. MOST OF THE TIME WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE CAR WITH TIRE MARKS LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL COMES ON AND FLASHES. THERE IS NO WAY TO PREDICT WHEN THIS SUDDEN LOSS OF THE ACCELERATOR WILL HAPPEN. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS. THIS HAPPENS AT LEAST ONCE ALMOST EVERY TIME WE DRIVE. ALSO SOMETIMES WHEN YOU START THE CAR AND BEGIN TO GO YOU HEAR DINGING SOUNDS AND FEEL AND HEAR BUMPS AND GRINDING NOISES. 2 LIGHTS COME ON IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WHEN THIS HAPPENS. 1 READS VSC TRAC AND THE OTHER READS TRAC OFF. IF YOU STOP AND RESTART THE ENGINE IT WILL EVENTUALLY STOP DOING IT. SOMETIMES THIS IS AFTER 1 RESTART AND SOMETIMES IT HAS TAKEN 5 AND 6. ON DAY IT WOULD NOT STOP NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU RESTARTED AND WE HAD TO DRIVE WITH LIGHTS ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 10 DIFFERENT TIMES.

I OWN A 2003 CAMRY XLE PURCHASED NEW FROM A LOCAL DEALER IN CARSON CITY, NV. I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION SURGING, LURCHING AND HESITATING SINCE PURCHASED. I REQUESTED THE SERVICE DEPT TO CHECK IT OUT MANY TIMES. THEY ALWAYS SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG LEADING ME TO BELIEVE I WAS CRAZY. AFTER THE 4TH TIME I PRINTED OUT MANY OTHER CONSUMER COMPLAINTS, THEY STILL TOLD ME "NOTHING WAS WRONG" BUT THEY SAID TOYOTA IS PUTTING IN A WHOLE NEW TRANSMISSION. THAT WAS IN 2006. WOW, IF NOTHING WAS WRONG WHY WOULD THEY GO TO THAT EXPENSE? NOW AFTER ALL THAT HAS COME TO LIGHT WITH THE TOYOTA PROBLEMS, I SEE WHY. VEHICLE WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP. CONSUMER HAD THEIR FOOT ON THE BRAKES, AND THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. CONSUMER FEELS THAT THE PEDAL ARE TOO SOFT. THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT THEY WERE HAVING PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL/YEAR BRAKES, AND THINKS THE CAUSE IS THE MASTER CYCLINDER. PH

I PURCHASED A 2003 TOYOTA SOLARA THE LAST WEEK IN SEPTEMBER2002. WITHIN 3 WEEKS OF BUYING MY CAR THE PAINT STARTED TO CHIP OFF AND COME OFF IN CHUNKS. I HAVE MADE REPORTS TO THE COMPANY EACH TIME A NEW CHIP HAS OCCURRED (THE CHIPS AND HUNKS ARE DOWN TO THE BARE METAL) THE COMPANY HAD A REP COME IN TO LOOK AT MY CAR AND THEY CONTINUE TO KEEP SAYING IT IS ROAD DAMGE WHEN IN FACT IT IS NOT. THEY HAVE OFFERED NO HELP, OPTIONS OR SOLUTIONS TO MY PROBLEM. ALL I WANT THE CAR TO BE ANALYZED TO SEE WHAT IS CAUSING THE PAINT TO COME OFF. IT COULD BE BAD PAINT, OR THAT THE CARS METAL WAS NOT PREPPED AND TREATED PROPERLY BEFORE PAINTING OR IT COULD EVEN BE THE PRIMER ITSELF. I JUST WANT A SOLUTION TO MY PROBLEM, THIS IS THE FIRST NEW CAR I HAVE PURCHASED AND IT WAS AN EXPENSIVE CAR. 2003 CAMRY LE PURCHASED AUGUST 2003. CAR PULLS/VEERS TO LEFT AT SPEEDS BELOW 50-55 MPH. AFTER TAKING HIM ON A DRIVE ON THE INTERSTATE, HE "SAW THE PROBLEM" AND THE CAR WAS LEFT AT THE DEALERSHIP UNTIL THE FOLLOWING AFTERNOON. THEY ADJUSTED ALIGNMENT TO SPECIFICATIONS AND SAID THEY ROTATED THE UPPER SPRING INSULATORS (?). THE PROBLEM PERSISTS AND ONCE AGAIN CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP. (THEY HAVE BEEN VERY COURTEOUS THROUGHOUT) WAS TOLD THEY HAVE BASICALLY DONE ALL THEY CAN OR KNOW OF, BUT WOULD CONTACT TOYOTA FOR FURTHER IDEAS. THIS STEERING DEFECT CAN BE A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY RISK AND NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED. *NM
MY 2003 TOYOTA XL CAMRY HAS A CONTROL THAT CLOSES THE DRIVER'S WINDOW. WHEN ACTIVATED YOU CAN RELEASE THE BUTTON AND THE WINDOW CONTINUES TO CLOSE. THERE IS NO SAFETY STOP WHICH STOPS THE ACTION WHEN THE BUTTON IS RELEASED. THIS CAN BE A FATAL EXPOSURE TO A CHILD OR ADULT CAUGHT IN THE PATH OF THE WINDOW. *JB
