July 14, 2021 arriving back to New Jersey from Las Vegas. I pick up my vehicle Wednesday night at Hoboken NJ garage , heading home my 2005 Toyota Camry vehicle air bag (steering wheel) deployed. As I was driving (15mph) no lights was on the dashboard, no pot holes on the street and there was no accident involving my vehicle. I was hit in the face from the air bag pretty hard it almost made me crash into a electric pole and gas station. 911 was called, the Jersey City police department, fire department and Ambulance arrived. The area was block off looking for car parts or pot holes nothing was found so the police report can be completed. I treated inside the ambulance at the scene, my left hand was burned and head/ neck was hurting. I just decline going to the hospital at the moment. The police called a towing company as I called my car insurance to informing them the situation. As my vehicle was being towed away the police officer said its a malfunction problem it can be a recall I don't know about. The following day I was in touch with my claim agent from my insurance, letting them no where my vehicle was towed at. They informed me to get in touch with the Toyota to see if they going to take full responsibility of the air bag being deployed on July 14, 2021 . I called Toyota Corporation and gave them all the information they asked and then I was told a inspector would reach out to inspect my 2005 Toyota Camry vehicle but it has to be a auto body shop. The place the police got my vehicle towed to the night ofJuly 14, 2021 from Hoboken NJ was not a auto body shop. It was just inside a gate full of other cars. I paid full price for storage fees end up getting my 2005 Camry to a auto body shop in Jersey City NJ were the Toyota Corporation inspector came out July 27 2021 . I called Toyota Corporation multiple times they kept saying it takes up to 30days to make decision from the inspection notes. Yesterday August 25 2001 I received a email they not taking blame.
LOCKING MECHANISM FOR SEAT BELT BUCKLE IS BROKEN
THIS ISN'T AN INCIDENT, BUT APPARENTLY HAS LED TO AN INCIDENT FOR MANY. DRIVERS SIDE SHOULDER BELTS EASILY FOLD OVER ITSELF ON THE SIDE, SO THEN WON'T RETRACT THROUGH THE SLOT IN THE PILLAR. ***SAFETY ISSUE*** DUE TO DESIGN, HAPPENED A LOT. REPLACEMENT OF ASSEMBLY SEEMS TO NOT BE A RELIABLE FIX, PER MANY OWNERS, AND NOT JUST CAMRY, MANY YEARS. ***NO RECALL NEEDED: ***IF TOYOTA MADE INFO ON HOW TO DEAL WITH IT FINDABLE AND AVAILABLE, OWNERS COULD RESOLVE IT - OVER AND OVER. ***TOYOTA & DEALERS HAVEN'T MADE THE INFO AVAILABLE. I SPENT THREE HOURS ONLINE, COUNTLESS PEOPLE ASKING HOW DO I..... IF A PERSON KNOWS HOW, THEY CAN UNDO THE PROBLEM, THEN CAN MINIMIZE PROBABILITY OF IT HAPPENING AGAIN *** BY SLOWLY PULLING BELT, AND *** ESPECIALLY RELEASING IT SLOWLY. ***WHEN IT GETS MESSED UP, MOVE THE SHOULDER HEIGHT ADJUSTER ON THE PILLER UP AND DOWN UNTIL IT FIXES. JUST ABOUT EXACTLY THAT INFORMATION SHOULD BE PROVIDED TO EACH PERSON WHO NEWLY ACQUIRES A USED CAMRY. I HAVE NO IDEA WHETHER THE PROBLEM IS SEEN ON 2018, BUT ONLINE REPORTS INDICATES IT IS ON MANY MODEL YEARS, AND *** NOT JUST CAMRYS.
STARTED RECEIVING CONSTANT RED ILLUMINATED AIR BAG ICON ON THE DASHBOARD WITH NO KNOWN CAUSE.
I HAVE FRONT SIDE AND P. SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR NOT WORKING ALL OF SUDDEN. IT REFLECTS AIR BAG SIGN ON INTO MY DASHBOARD.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 60 - 65 MPH. I AM A CAUTIOUS DRIVER AND AM ALWAYS AWARE OF THE CONDITIONS AROUND ME. SUDDENLY, MY CAR JUST TOOK OFF LIKE A SHOT. IT WAS GOING AT AN EXTREMELY HIGH SPEED ON THE FREEWAY. I HAD NO CONTROL OVER IT. THERE ARE DARK SKID MARKS ON THE ROAD FROM MY BRAKING. I TRIED TO TURN THE CAR TO STRAIGHTEN IT OUT, BUT THE NEXT THING I KNEW I HAD FLIPPED INTO THE MEDIAN. I FLIPPED TWO TIMES IN THE AIR BEFORE CRASHING, HOOD FIRST, ON THE MEDIAN. I DID NOTHING TO CAUSE THIS. I WAS MERELY DRIVING, IN THE SLOW LANE, AT A SAFE SPEED. IT IS A MIRACLE I AM ALIVE, AND EVEN MORE-SO THAT I WASN'T INJURED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. AT THE END OF THE ACCIDENT, MY SEAT BELT WAS UNLATCHED. I AM GOING TO RECEIVE A CITATION FOR THIS. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH ON 2005 CAMRY'S SINCE THIS HAPPENED, AND HAVE SEEN THAT IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM. PEOPLE HAVE BEEN KILLED FROM THIS FAULT AND I NEARLY WAS. I WANT TO KNOW WHY TOYOTA DIDN'T WARN US OF THIS. I KNOW THE VIN NUMBER SAYS NO RECALLS HAVE BEEN MADE ON THIS MODEL, BUT RESEARCH TELLS ME THAT INVOLVED RESEARCH IN SELF-ACCELERATING GAS PEDALS REPORT 'DISTURBING EVIDENCE OF PROBLEMS POTENTIALLY AFFLICTING THE ELECTRONIC SYSTEM GOVERNING THE GAS PEDAL, PROBLEMS THAT TOYOTA AND THE HIGHWAY SAFETY AGENCY HAVE SO FAR DISMISSED.' I DON'T KNOW WHEN/IF I'LL GET THE COURAGE TO GO BEHIND THE WHEEL AGAIN. IT REPLAYS OVER AND OVER IN MY MIND. THE TERROR IS IMMENSE.

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN THE REVERSE POSITION, THE CONTACT APPLIED MINIMAL PRESSURE TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, BUT IT ACCELERATED RAPIDLY ON ITS OWN INTO A CONCRETE POLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 200,000. UPDATED 07/12/17*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE WHILE BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND RELEASING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE SPED UP. IT CRASHED INTO A FENCE, A POLE, AND A CAR. THE BREAKS FAILED AS WELL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. UPDATED 10/18/2017*JS
TAKATA RECALL: AFTER BACKING OUT OF A PARKED POSITION, I BUMPED THE REAR OF THE CAR INTO A STATIONARY POLE. AFTER THE COLLISION OCCURRED, NO AIRBAGS OPENED AND THE "AIR BAG" LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD TURNED ON. ADDITIONALLY THE "PASSENGER AIRBAG" LIGHT TURNED FROM "ON" TO "OFF". NO DAMAGE WAS CAUSED EXCEPT TO THE BACK BUMPER OF THE CAR.
FRONT SEAT BELTS ARE JAMMING AND GETTING FOLDED AND THUS CREATING A DRIVING HAZARD. THEY BECOME STUCK AND WON'T RETRACT SOMETIMES LEAVING TOO MUCH SLACK. THEY TWIST INSIDE THE SIDE PANEL OF THE VEHICLE AND YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE MOLDING TO RETRACT THE SEATBELT. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES WITH BOTH FRONT SEATS BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER. I AM JUST TAKING THE TIME TODAY TO LOG THIS COMPLAINT HOPING MAYBE THERE IS A RECALL I AM NOT AWARE OF. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET, THE LEFT REAR PASSENGER HAD THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE DETACH FROM THE SEAT BELT WITH THE BUCKLE REMAINING ON THE BELT. UPON ARRIVING AT MY RESIDENCE I INSPECTED THE SEAT BELTS, I NOTICED THAT THE RIGHT PASSENGER BELT BUCKLE WAS ALSO DETACHED FROM THE STRAP. IT SEAMS THE THREADS WHERE THE BUCKLE IS SEWN INTO THE STRAP HAVE DISINTEGRATED.

THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT HAS TWISTED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND I HAVE BEEN ABLE, AFTER LOTS OF FRUSTRATION AND WORK, TO GET IT TO RETRACT.. TODAY IT TWISTED AGAIN AND I CAN'T FIX IT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND IT IS GOING TO COST ME $540. NOT ONLY THAT BUT WE HAVE TO DELAY RETURNING TO OUR HOME FROM VACATION FOR TWO DAYS BECAUSE IT HAS TO BE ORDERED. I HAVE FOUND OUT THIS IS A CONTINUAL PROBLEM WITH 2005 CAMRY'S. IT SHOULD BE RECALLED AND I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY.
AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON AND WILL NOT GO OFF. PLEASE INCLUDE A FIX FOR THE 2005 CAMRY AIRBAG BEFORE THEY HURT ADULTS AND KIDS. THE AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON. I SHOWED THE LEESBURG, VIRGINIA TOYOTA ON 6/29 AT 1030AM AND THEY SAID IT WOULD BE $44.00 TO GET IT CHECKED! WHY MAKING MONEY ON TOYOTA ISSUE. SHOULD BE COURTESY CHECK AND FIXED IMMEDIATELY SINCE MILLIONS OF AIRBAGS ARE BEING RECALLED! PLEASE CALL OR E-MAIL FOR CLEAR HELP TODAY! IN 2015 I PURCHASED MY 2005 TOYOTA CAMRY WITH LESS THAN 50K MILES AND THE SEAT BELTS APPEARED FINE. WITHIN A MONTH I NOTICED THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT WOULD NOT RETRACT. IT MALFUNCTIONED BOTH WHEN THE CAR WAS OFF AND ON AND REGARDLESS IF IT WAS IN ANY GEAR OR POSITION. I PAID SOMEONE TO LUBRICATE IT AND THAT FAILED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEN I PAID THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP ALMOST $500 TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE SEAT BELT! I HAVE OWNED A CAMRY BEFORE FOR OVER 10 YEARS AND IT NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. I THINK I SHOULD BE REFUNDED FOR THAT DEFECTIVE PRODUCT.
THIS VEHICLE IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST HOWEVER, THE AIRBAG IS CLEARLY STARTING TO PROTRUDE ON THE DASH. WORRIED IT MIGHT DEPLOY IF I HAVE A PASSENGER IN THE CAR WITH ME.
PASSENGER FRONT AIRBAG LOOKS LIKE IT IS READY TO OPEN UP & DEPLOY-STARTED OUT ON A SMALLER PORTION, BUT GETS WORSE BY THE DAY. POSSIBLY DUE TO THE HEAT HERE IN FL STATE?? I HAVE OWNED TOYOTA CAMRY'S SINCE THE 1990'S; LIVED IN NY STATE AND FL STATE, & NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE AIRBAGS. THIS IS QUITE DISTURBING & SCARY-SHOULD I CALL THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER & SET UP AN APPOINTMENT? I DO NOT FEEL THAT IS IN MY 'FAULT', & THEREFORE, SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR-PLEASE ADVISE, THANK YOU.
