CRACKED DASHBOARD NOT SURE IF AIR BAGS WILL WORK
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF A 2006 SOLARA THAT CURRENTLY HAS ABOUT 56,000 MILES. LAST YEAR, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED TURNING ON, BUT IT WASN'T UNTIL THIS YEAR THAT I FOUND OUT THE PROBLEM. MY CAR IS BURNING EXCESSIVE OIL, ABOUT 1.75 QUARTS EVERY 1,200 MILES (ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP'S OIL CONSUMPTION TEST.) TOYOTA ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN IN 2011 STATING THAT IT WILL ONLY FIX THE 2007 AND 2008 SOLARAS. ALTHOUGH MY CAR IS A 2006, IT HAS THE EXACT SAME ENGINE AS THE 2007 AND 2008. I ALREADY CALLED TOYOTA CORPORATE TWICE AND THEY REFUSE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR, ARGUING THAT IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. I AM AWARE OF THAT, BUT IT IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURNG PROBLEM. MY CAR IS LOW ON MILEAGE, IT'S NEVER BEEN CRASHED, AND I'VE DONE ALL THE MAINTENANCE AT THE DEALERSHIP IN A TIMELY MANNER SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT IT. TOYOTA IS WELL AWARE THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE ENGINES AND THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT. I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY ABOUT $3,000 TO FIX IT, IF THE PROBLEM IS NOT MY FAULT. I'M ALSO NOT GOING TO SELL IT TO SOMEONE WITHOUT TELLING THEM ABOUT THE PROBLEM, BECAUSE THAT'S JUST WRONG. SO MY ONLY OPTIONS ARE PAYING FOR THE REPAIR MYSELF OR SELLING IT AND TAKING A SIGNIFICANT LOSS DUE TO THE PROBLEM. YESTERDAY MY CAR STARTED SHAKING WHEN I WAS STOPPED AT RED LIGHTS, MAKING LOUD UNUSUAL NOISES, LOSING POWER, AND THEN THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT TURNED ON. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE CAR BECAUSE I'VE READ THAT THE ENGINE CAN EVENTUALLY JUST DIE DUE TO EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. I'VE BEEN READING ABOUT THIS ISSUE, AND THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF OTHERS WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. TOYOTA SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AND BE FORCED TO ADMIT THE PROBLEM AND PAY FOR THE REPAIRS OF THE CUSTOMERS INVOLVED.

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE CHECK ENGINE, CHECK HYBRID, STABILITY CONTROL, SLIP INDICATOR, BRAKE, ANTI-BRAKE SYSTEM, AND MASTER WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURES OCCURRED CONSTANTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HYBRID BATTERY FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.
MOVING IN LINE TO GAS PUMP STATION UNINTENDED ACCELERATION ALMOST CAUSING ACCIDENT STEPPED ON BRAKE AND FORCED TRANSMISSION INTO PARK TO SLOW. DOWN RACING MOTOR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2006 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH IN INCLEMENT WEATHER, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED CHEST AND HEAD INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE REAR PASSENGER SUSTAINED MINOR HEAD INJURIES THAT ALSO REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE CONTACT WAS UNSURE IF A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED FROM THE CRASH SCENE, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
2006 TOYOTA CAMRY 80K MILES, HAD COOLANT LEAKING INTO ENGINE CYLINDERS CAUSED BY STRIPPED HEAD GASKET BOLTS. RESEARCH SHOWS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND A DESIGN FLAW FOR THE 2AZ-FE ENGINE WHICH OCCUR TO MANY 2002 - 2006 CAMRY. TOYOTA DEALER WANTED OVER $3,500 TO FIX IT.. TOYOTA SHOULD RECALL AND REPAIR IT UNDER WARRANTY.
TIRE PLY SEPARATION ON 4 TIRES - KUMHO SOLUS KR21 215/60 R16 94T E4-0268050 DOT 4TL1 YP6V TIRES PURCHASED APRIL 2014. ALL 4 TIRES FAILED FROM MAY 31 THROUGH JUNE 11, 2016. VEHICLE HAD 95K+ MILES ON IT ON DATE OF TIRE PURCHASE. VEHICLE HAD 124K+ MILES ON IT YESTERDAY (JUNE 11) WHEN I HAD TO REPLACE THE REMAINING TWO KUMHOS. ISSUE INITIALLY PRESENTED WITH STRONG PULL TO THE RIGHT AND WITHIN 100 MILES THERE WAS SIGNIFICANT VIBRATION AT ANY SPEED ABOVE 20 MPH. FIRST TIRE REPLACED 5/31/2016 IN JACKSONVILLE, FL AFTER EXPERIENCING PULL AND VIBRATION ON MAY 30 WHILE DRIVING ON I-4 IN CENTRAL FL. STRONG PULL TO THE RIGHT WAS STILL OCCURRING AFTER TIRE REPLACEMENT SO I RETURNED TO AUTO REPAIR SHOP AND WAS TOLD OF SAME ISSUE WITH A SECOND TIRE. SECOND TIRE REPLACED 6/9/2016. DURING DRIVE FROM FL TO NC ON 6/11/2016, CAR STARTED TO PULL HARD TO THE LEFT WITH SOME VIBRATION. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY EXIT IN FLORENCE, SC, AND FIRESTONE IDENTIFIED TIRE SEPARATION WAS OCCURRING WITH THE TWO KUMHO TIRES STILL ON THE CAR. ---- I HAVE ONE OF THE TIRES THAT WAS REPLACED 6/11/2016. ---- PLEASE ADVISE IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HAVE SOMEONE FROM NHTSA INSPECT THIS TIRE. --- I ROUTINELY HAVE MY CAR SERVICED EVERY 5,000 MILES PER THE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDED SERVICING INTERVAL, AND HAVE HAD THESE TIRES ROTATED AT EACH ROUTINE MAINTENANCE SERVICE APPOINTMENT. ---- THESE ARE VERY DANGEROUS TIRES. I CONSIDER MYSELF VERY FORTUNATE THAT I WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE FAILURE OF THESE TIRES.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREE WAY, SUDDENLY MANY LIGHTS CAME ON LIKE ABS, ENGINE CHECK, BRAKE AND MORE. MEANWHILE CLUSTER WENT BRIGHTER AND GAUGES WENT CRAZY. SO I PULLED OVER AND GOT OFF FROM FREE WAY. NOT CAR WENT MORE CRAZY. SPEEDOMETER SHOW ZERO AND BRAKE APPLIES BY ITSELF LIKE EMERGENCY BRAKE. SO I AM PREGNANT AND SCARED . SO I LEFT THE CAR B Y THE STREET AND WENT HOME. IT HAPPENED JUST TODAY IN THE MORNING. I AM LIVING IN ZIP 91367. PLEASE ADVICE AND HELP.
DASHBOARD HAS BECOME STICKY AND SHINY. THIS HAS PRODUCED A GLARE MAKING VISIBILITY AN ISSUE. CLEANING DOESN'T HELP.
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF A MANUFACTURER'S RECALL FOR THE AIR BAGS; HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE VIN AND NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER WERE UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED EXCESSIVELY. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND TURNED IT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING MY CAR HAS ACCELERATED AND I THOUGHT MY TRANSMISSION WAS GOING BAD UNTIL ON 2 OCCASIONS THE CAR SURGED FORWARD WHEN MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE. THIS HAS ALSO BEEN REPORTED TO TOYOTA. THE SECOND SURGE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT.
I HAD MY FOOT ON BRAKE AND WAS PUTTING INTO REVERSE TO BACK INTO A PARKING SPACE WHEN SUDDENLY IT LURCHED FORWARD AND HIT AN ESCALADE THAT WAS PARKED ABOUT ONE FOOT IN FRONT OF ME. IT TOTALED MY CAR AND HER CAR. IT WAS SO SUDDEN I DON'T KNOW IF IT WENT INTO REVERSE OR NOT. I BELIEVE THE ONLY THING THAT STOPPED ME WAS THE IMPACT WITH SUV. THIS WAS REPORTED TO TOYOTA, I AM WAITING FOR AN INSPECTION OF VECHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH AND MAKING A RIGHT TURN, THERE WAS A LOUD SCREECHING SOUND COMING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. ALSO, WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN, THERE WAS A LOUD CLICKING SOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE CV AXLE BOOT AND THE RADIATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIRS WERE DONE; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE STILL DROVE ROUGHLY AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
MY DASHBOARD IS STICKY AND IS CRACKED FROM DRIVER TO PASSENGER SIDES.ALSO IS CRACKED WHERE AIRBAGS ARE. DASHBOARD IS ALSO SHINEY AND SUNS REFLECTIONS MAKES IT DANGEROUS DRIVING. I AM AFRAID AIRBAGS WILL INFLATE.
MY CAR WAS TESTED AND QUALIFIED FOR AN ENGINE INTERNAL REBUILD DUE TO EXCESSIVE ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION. IT'S BEEN A YEAR AND THE PARTS STILL HAVE NOT BEEN DELIVERED TO THE DEALER. MEANWHILE I HAVE TO FILL UP THE OIL 3+ TIMES IN-BETWEEN EVERY OIL CHANGE WHICH IS COSTING ME THE EQUIVALENT OF AN ADDITIONAL OIL CHANGE FOR EVERY OIL CHANGE (APPROXIMATELY $30 EXTRA EVERY OIL CHANGE).
WELL, NOTHING HAPPENED BUT I BELIEVE TOYOTA CAMRY, SE, SEDAN, V6, HAS A PROBLEM WITH STEERING RACK AND PINION DRIVE LEAK AT 90 K. MANY CAMRY VEHICLES HAVE IT, ACCORDING TO NUMEROUS REPORTS ON THE WEB FOR MODELS (2001 THROUGH WHATEVER, SEDANS OR NOT). FIXING IT COSTS A FORTUNE, SORT OF (1200 $ OR SO). THEY ARE SELLING LEMONS, AND RIGHT UNDER YOUR NOSE ! THE NHTSA SHOULD WAKE UP FOR ONCE AND GET TOYOTA FLAGGED. THEY (THE JAPANESE COMPANIES, INCLUDING TAKATA, - AND GOD KNOWS WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE SO-CALLED ZERO DEFECT JAPANESE MOTTO) ARE RAKING IT IN AND TAKING THE CUSTOMERS FOR A RIDE. IT IS TIME THAT NHTSA GETS INVOLVED AND CALL IT FOR WHAT IT IS - A RECALL - AND HAVE THE COMPANY FIX THE PROBLEM. IF I WANTED THIS PIECE OF JUNK, I WOULD HAVE GONE FOR AN AMERICAN CAR, VIZ, CHEVY OR GM !!!!!!!
AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND IT IS STILL ON.
TOYOTA ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS VERY COMMON STICKY DASHBOARD ISSUE. IT CREATES BOTH A SAFETY ISSUE - THE DASHBOARD BECOMES SO REFLECTIVE THAT YOU CANT SEE THE ROAD - AND IS DISGUSTING. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT I WAS ON A WAITING LIST... TO DATE I NEVER WAS TOLD THAT THEY ERE ABLE TO FIX IT AND NOW THEY ARE SAYING THE TERM IS OVER FOR GETTING IT REPAIRED. THEY ARE CLEARLY AT FAULT. WHAT DO I DO TO GET IT REPAIRED NOW?
ON APRIL 21, 2015 I HAD MY CAR IN THE DEALER FOR A OIL CHANGE ETC. WHEN I LEFT THE DEALER I NOTICED THAT MY AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ON LOCATED ON THE DASH AND ALSO THE AIR BAG LIGHT STATED THAT IT WAS OFF. I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER AND SHOWED HIM WHAT HAPPENED AND HE STATED THAT IT WAS A COMPUTER PROBLEM AND IT WOULD COST ME AROUND $700.00 TO REPAIR THE COMPUTER. I TOLD HIM IT WAS NOT ON WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR IN AND NOW IT IS ON. I ONLY HAVE APPROX., 48,000 ON THIS CAR AND I PURCHASED IT NEW IN NOV. 2005. HE DID NOT FIX IT AND I AM CONCERNED THAT IF I GET INTO A ACCIDENT THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WILL NOT WORK. I DO NOT HAVE THE $700.00 TO GET IT FIXED. I DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT HE TOLD ME, IT MUST BE SOMETHING ELSE WITH THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. AS LONG AS THE AIRBAG LIGHTS ARE ON IT WILL NOT PASS STATE INSPECTION. I NEED IT FIXED. THANK YOU.
MY AIRBAGS LIGHT IS ON AND MY AIRBAGS ARE NOT WORKING MAKING IT VERY DANGEROUS. I BROUGHT MY INTO THE DEALER AND HE SAID THAT THE COMPUTER SYSTEM IN THE CAR IS DEFECTIVE CAUSING MY AIRBAG SYSTEM TO BE INOPERABLE. THEY WILL NOT FIX IT. I ONLY HAVE 49,000 MILES ON THE CAR. I AM CONCERNED THAT IF I AM IN A ACCIDENT MY AIRBAGS WILL NOT PROTECT ME.
THE DASHBOARD HAS BECOME GUMMY AND CRACKING CAUSING A BRIGHT GLARE THAT MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE ON BRIGHT SUNNY DAYS. LAST WEEK I WAS CROSSING OVER A BRIDGE AND ALMOST WENT OVER THE SIDE. *TR
THE "CHECK VSC" CAME ON. BRAKING BECAME DIFFICULT. HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES IN THE PAST 4 WEEKS (NEVER BEFORE). *TR
I BOUGHT THE CAR ON 2012 AND IT WORKS NICE UNTIL ONE DAY I START IT AND WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE IT SIMPLY DON'T DO ANYTHING, IT REMAINS AT IDLE RPM. THE CAR START TO ACCELERATE WITH THE GAS PEDAL NEARLY ON THE FLOOR, THE PROBLEM WAS THAT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATE TOO SLOW AND AT AN INSTANT IT DID IT TOO FAST (FULL THROTTLE). *TR
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMINTENTLY.
TRAFFIC LIGHT WAS GREEN, I ENTERED INTERSECTION AND HIT ANOTHER VEHICAL BROADSIDE. MY CAR RECEIVED DAMAGE TO THE FRONT BUMPER, THE LEFT FRONT FENDER, AND THE RIGHT FRONT FENDER. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *TR
I WAS PULLING THE CAR INTO A PARKING LOT AT A VERY SLOW SPEED (~4MPH). SUDDENLY THE CAR TOOK OFF WITH FULL FORCE OF ACCELERATION. THE CAR JUMPED THE CONCRETE BAR OF THE PARKING LOT AND ACCELERATED AS IF WITH FULL APPLIED GAS. IT JUST HAPPENED IN FEW SECONDS, I TRIED TO HIT THE BREAK, BUT COULD NOT STOP THE CAR UNTIL IT HIT THE 1.5" HIGH FOUNDATION OF THE BUILDING AND STOPPED. THE ENGINE WAS STILL ON, AND THE FRONT WHEELS STILL SPUN VERY FAST UNTIL I CHANGED THE GEAR TO PARKING AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. *TR
AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON INTERMITTENTLY FOR WEEKS BEFORE COMING ON IN FEBRUARY 2015. THINKING IT WAS NOT URGENT, I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY RAN THE CODE. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE AIR BAG COMPUTER SENSOR HAD FAILED WHICH WAS LOCATED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND HAD TO BE REPLACED, TOTALLY $3300 FOR PARTS. AIR BAGS MAY NOT DEPLOY PROPERLY OR DEPLOY UNEXPECTEDLY UNTIL FIXED. EXPENSIVE REPAIR FOR CAR NEARING END OF ITS LIFE.

A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,505. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE SPIRAL CABLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V168000 (AIR BAGS). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
VEHICLE REFERENCED LEFT TARGET, STOUGHTON,MA, PARKING LOT AT 12:10PM-11-11-14 (WITH 7YR OLD GRANDSON CAR SEATED BEHIND DRIVER & DRIVER WAS IN SEATBELT). WHEN EXISTING LOT, ANOTHER CAR BACKED OUT OF PARKING SPACE AND HIT RT, BACK END OF REF CAR. DRIVER OF REF VEHICLE LOOKED BEHIND AT VEHICLE THAT STRUCK HER AND, AS SHE TURNED FORWARD & BARELY STEPPED ON GAS TO MOVE AWAY FROM VEHICLE THAT HIT HER, THERE WAS A LOUD CLICKING NOISE, TIRES STARTED SPINNING AND CAR TOOK OFF ACCELERATING W/O CONTROL OF BRAKES, SHIFT OR STEERING. REF VEHICLE HIT CURB, ACCELERATED UP HILL FROM PARKING LOT AND WENT AIRBORNE, CRASHED DOWN INTO GUARDRAIL AT APPROX 45-50MPH AND AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER IS SURE REF VEHICLE WOULD HAVE CONTINUED TRAVELING FORWARD IF NOT FOR GUARDRAIL! DRIVER OF VEHICLE (AND GRANDSON) WERE TAKEN IN AMBULANCE TO HOSPITAL AND IN TRIAGE ALL DAY. DRIVER SUFFERED HEAD AND EYE INJURIES AND HEMATOMAS FROM NECK DOWN. GRANDSON REPORTED SLIGHT BACK PAIN AND WAS RELEASED. THANKFULLY, NEITHER OF REF VEHICLE'S OCCUPANTS WERE MAIMED OR DIED. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH, FOUND THERE ARE 2006 TOYOTA CAMRYS WITH ETC ISSUES. AGAIN, NO CONTROL OF ANY ASPECT OF CAR - COULD NOT PUT IN NEUTRAL, GEAR SHIFT JUST "FLOATED" OVER ALL GEARS WHEN TRYING TO USE! WOULD LIKE FOR NHTSA TO INSPECT GAS PEDAL FOR "WHISKERS" OR OTHER PROBLEMS THAT LED TO THIS. AS DRIVER OF THIS VEHICLE, I CAN HONESTLY STATE THAT I HAVE A GREAT DRIVING RECORD AND I AM NOT PRONE TO "DRIVER ERROR" PUTTING FOOT ON GAS PEDAL INSTEAD OF BRAKE (AND ACCELERATING TO THAT DISTANCE) AND THERE WAS NO CARPET FOR PEDAL TO STICK UNDER. I HAVE BEEN THE ONE AND ONLY OWNER OF A 2006 TOYOTA SOLARA CONVERTIBLE SLE THAT HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT MOST OF ITS LIFE. DASHBOARD APPEARS TO BE "MELTING" - HAS NUMEROUS CRACKS AND IS VERY STICKY. THE GLARE OF THE SHINY STICKY DASHBOARD IS DISTRACTING AND A VISUAL HAZARD. HAVE TRIED SEVERAL PRODUCTS IN AN ATTEMPT TO CLEAN/UNSTICKY THE DASHBOARD. DEALERSHIPS HAVE STATED THAT THIS IS A RESULT OF INTENSE DAYTIME HEAT, AND NOT A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. SEVERAL OTHER CAMRY OWNERS HAVE STATED THE SAME COMPLAINT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA CAMRY SOLARA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE CONTACT SMELLED SMOKE AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW OPENED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE WINDOW CONTROL ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR WAS MELTING DOWN INTO THE DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. I DO NOT KNOW THE EXACT DETAILS OF THE ENTIRE ACCIDENT, AS WE DID NOT YET MEET THE NEW FAMILY, BUT IT TOOK THE LIFE OF MY GRANDCHILD. SHE WAS NOT DRIVING HER BOYFRIEND WAS. IT WAS HIS MOTHERS VEHICLE AND IT HAPPENED IN ANOTHER STATE. LAS VEGAS, NEVADA. THE CAUSE LISTED IN THE ACCIDENT REPORT WAS A FAULT OF THE VEHICLE. HE WAS FOLLOWING HIS SISTERS VEHICLE, AS THEY JUST ARRIVED IN VEGAS AND WAS VISITING HIS FAMILY. THE CAR ACCELERATED UNEXPECTEDLY AND HIT HIS SISTERS CAR THEN FLEW INTO A WALL. HIS MOTHER WAS KILLED AND MY GRANDDAUGHTER INSTANTLY. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A CHANGE IN THE WAY THESE RECALLS ARE DEALT WITH. I'M JUST GOING THROUGH ANY VENUE I CAN TO GET IT DONE. THESE CARS SHOULD BE FLAGGED "DO NOT REGISTER" BY DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES UNTIL THE PARTS ARE REPAIRED. IF I DON'T SMOG A VEHICLE I CANNOT DRIVE IT. MAKE IT THAT WAY FOR ALL RECALLED VEHICLES. IN AUGUST 2014, I NOTICED A HAIRLINE CRACK IN THE DASHBOARD ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE FROM THE BEGINNING EDGE OF THE DASH UP AN AROUND THE STEERING WHEEL. A MONTH LATER, AN ADDITIONAL CRACK APPEARED ON MIDDLE CONSOLE ENDING AT THE STEREO COMPONENT. CRACKS ARE INCREASING IN NUMBER AND LENGTH OVER TIME. CAR HAS HAD A SINGLE OWNER, GARAGED, WITH METICULOUS CARE. I'M CONCERNED THAT CRACK(S) COULD EVENTUALLY POSE A PROJECTILE PROBLEM IN THE EVENT THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS AND THE DASH COMES APART IN PIECES DURING AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. ADDITIONALLY, VERY DISAPPOINTED TO KNOW THIS WILL AFFECT RESALE VALUE, SOMETHING THAT MAKES OWNING A TOYOTA A REASON TO BUY IT INITIALLY. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 155,000.
IN 2008 MY 2006 CAMRY HAD THE WARNING LIGHT FOR THE SEAT BELT COME ON. WELLESLEY TOYOTA CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. I TOOK THE CAR BACK IN 2009 TWICE FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED AND PLACED IN REVERSE THE ENGINE ACCELERATED. NOT BEING SURE WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH THE CAR, I KEPT SUBSTANTIAL PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE AND PUT TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL. WHEN I DID THE ENGINE SPEED PROCEEDED TO RUN AWAY. I QUICKLY JUST TURNED THE IGNITION OFF. I PLACED THE TRANSMISSION INTO PARK, AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE, AND IT RAN NORMALLY THEREAFTER. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS TIMES IN THE PAST YEAR WHEN THE ENGINE SURGED MOMENTARILY WHEN THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED, BUT IT WAS MOMENTARY, AND NOT THOUGHT SIGNIFICANT. THESE EVENTS OCCURRED WHEN SLOWING TO A STOP OR PARKING. THIS MOST RECENT AND SIGNIFICANT EVENT OCCURRED AFTER A SHORT TRIP, APPROX. 10 MILES. THE CAR HAD BEEN PARKED FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES. WEATHER WAS CLEAR AND TEMPERATURE IN THE 70'S. IT IS A 4 CYLINDER CAMRY, 2006 WITH ABOUT 155K MILES. THE CAR HAS NOT HAD ANY MODIFICATIONS OR MAJOR REPAIRS. *TR
YESTERDAY, JULY 26, 2015, I RECEIVED IN THE MAIL A SECOND LETTER FROM TOYOTA MOTOR SALES CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE DEPARTMENT REGARDING THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM - ZE6 CONCERNING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE STICKY DASHBOARD OF SOME MAKE AND MODEL. MINE IS A 2006 TOYOTA SOLARA. IT'S RIDICULOUS WHY THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT IS ONLY FOR THE STICKY DASHBOARD WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL AND INSIDE DOOR PANELS ARE MADE OF THE EXACT SAME MATERIAL. THESE PARTS MUST BE COVERED AS WELL ESPECIALLY WE TOUCH THESE PARTS EVERY SINGLE TIME WE USE THE VEHICLE. ON MINE, I NOTICED THE DISINTEGRATION OF THE MATERIAL SINCE LAST YEAR WHEN I WAS WIPE CLEANING THE INTERIOR OF MY SOLARA. THIS WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT MUST BE EXTENDED TO FIX THE MATERIAL ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND DOOR PANELS. I KNOW I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE EXPERIENCING THIS BECAUSE I READ BLOGS AND THERE ARE OTHERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE EVEN ON LEXUS 2006. YOU SHOULD LOOK INTO THIS BECAUSE WE PAY A LOT IN PURCHASING OUR VEHICLES AND WE DESERVE OUR MONEY'S WORTH.
