THE PROBLEM IS THE DASHBOARD WHICH HAS MANY CRACKS IN IT AND THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING AND STICKY. WE BOUGHT THE CAR USED IN NOVEMBER 2013 AND IS CONTINUING TO GET WORSE WITH MORE DETERIORATION. THE SAFETY ISSUE IS THE DASHBOARD IS VERY SHINY AND THE GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE WHEN DRIVING ON A SUNNY DAY. THE CRACKS IN THE DASHBOARD ARE ALSO A CONCERN SINCE THEY MAY INTERFERE WITH THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE DASHBOARD AIR BAGS IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
THE DASHBOARD HAS CRACKED IN SEVERAL AREAS AND THE ISSUE SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE DAILY. I'VE CONTACTED TOYOTA MAIN HEADQUARTERS COMPLAINT DEPARTMENT SEVERAL TIMES AND THEIR RESPONSE WAS THAT SINCE THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY THEY WILL NOT FIX IT AND IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AT MY EXPENSE, I HAVE HEARD AND SEEN MANY REPORTS THAT THIS IS A SYSTEMIC PROBLEM DUE TO USE OF INFERIOR PARTS USED BY TOYOTA AND OTHER MANUFACTURERS. CLASS ACTION SUITS HAVE BEEN INITIATED TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM.I WISH TO FORMERLY FILE MY COMPLAINT WITH YOUR AGENCY AS A POINT OF RECORD . INCIDENTALLY I HAD MAINTAINED A VERY EXPENSIVE EXTENDED WARRANTY POLICY FOR SIX YEARS AFTER MY PURCHASE AND IT SEEMS STRANGE THAT TOYOTA WASN'T AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM PRIOR TO IT'S EXPIRATION. *JS
DASH CRACKS WITHOUT REASON. NOT SURE HOW THE AIRBAGS DEPLOY ON THIS CAR BUT MAY POSE A HAZARD DURING DEPLOYMENT. ENERGY ABSORPTION MAY BE COMPROMISED BY THE MANY CRACKS. ONE OWNER, LOW MILES AND ALTHOUGH PARKED OUTDOORS ALWAYS USED A SUN SHIELD. THIS IS THE ONLY CAR I'VE EVER OWNED WHERE THE DASH HAD CRACKED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE SPUN UNCONTROLLABLY AND THEN ROLLED OVER. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR LACERATIONS AND BRUISING, AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC BUT WAS RULED AS BEING DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 64,000. UPDATED 02/11/2014 *BF
I OWN A 2006 TOYOTA SOLARA CONVERTIBLE. THIS CAR IS GARAGED EXCEPT WHEN DRIVEN. EARLIER THIS YEAR I NOTICED SMALL CRACKS DEVELOPING AROUND THE EDGES OF THE DASHBOARD. HOWEVER, NOW THE CRACKS HAVE GROWN AND THERE ARE SOME VERY LARGE CRACKS. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE LARGE CRACKS DEVELOPING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE DASHBOARD. CAN THESE CRACKS AFFECT THE OPERATION OF THE DASHBOARD AIR BAGS?? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER STARTING THE ENGINE AND SHIFTING INTO DRIVE, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO REACT IN ENOUGH TIME TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED AGAINST TWO FENCES AND A TREE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO WAS ONLY ABLE TO DETERMINE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
GLARE ON WINDSHIELD CAUSED FROM MELTING DASHBOARD, I WAS NOT ABLE TO SEE A PERSON WALKING NEAR THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE AND NOW THINK THIS WILL EFFECT HOW THE AIRBAG MIGHT OR MIGHT NOT WORK IF ACTIVATED, MY CAR IS DEALER SERVICED TO THE MANUFACTURES REQUIREMENTS BY TOYOTA. MY CAR IS IN 1ST CLASS CONDITION APART FROM THE DASH WHICH NOW HAS CRACKS 2MM IN WIDTH AND A STICKY GLAZE. *TR

I WAS HEADING INTO THE SUN AND I COULD HARDLY SEE DUE TO GLARE FROM THE DASHBOARD. WHEN I STOPPED I PUT MY HAND ON THE DASH AND FOUND IT TO BE VERY STICKY AND CRACKED. THE CAR IS ALWAYS IN A GARAGE AND SELDOM IN THE SUN. I HAVE SINCE LEARNED THAT MANY OTHER TOYOTA OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING NORTH ON RTE. 209, PASSING THE GREEN LIGHT. WHEN A FORD FOCUS TRAVELING SOUTH ON RTE. 209 MADE A LEFT TURN, CAUSING A COLLISION WITH MY CAR. I IMPACTED HIS CAR IN REAR SECTION AROUND THE TIRE, BENDING HIS TIRE.THE AIR BAGS IN THE TOYOTA DID NOT DEPLOY WHICH I BELIEVE CAUSED MORE DAMAGE TO MY BACK.THE OTHER DRIVER WAS WRITTEN A CITATION (VR3322) IN THE PA VIOLATIONS SECTION. MY WIFE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE CAR TO OUR HOUSE 3-4 MILES AWAY.I WAS TRANSPORTED TO POCONO MEDICAL CENTER. THEIR EXAM WAS A JOKE. I AM GOING TO SEE AN ORTHOPEDIC DOCTOR ON 11/12/2013. THE PAIN HAS INCREASED A LOT SINCE ACCIDENT. I BELIEVE IF THE AIR BAGS HAD DEPLOYED I MIGHT HAVE BEEN SPARED MORE PAIN. I AM INSISTING ON A CAT SCAN, MRI, & XRAYS ON MY BACK TO COMPARE TO PREVIOUS TESTS DONE IN 2009. I FEEL TOYOTA SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR DEFECTIVE AIR BAGS. DRIVING HOME FROM WORK I HIT A LARGE DEER, APPROXIMATELY 200 POUNDS, AT 45 MPH, DIRECT FRONT END CONTACT, CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE WHOLE FRONT HOOD, GRILLE, BOTH FRONT FENDERS, RADIATOR, HEADLIGHTS, AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, NO INJURY TO ME. RECEIVED MY CAR FROM THE BODY SHOP OCTOBER 25TH AND EVERYTHING LOOKED GREAT. AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 800 MILES NOTICED A LITTLE BODY MISALIGNMENT AND ON THE 18TH OF OCTOBER I DROVE TO THE BODY SHOP TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT THE ALIGNMENT PROBLEM AND CHECK THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT. THEY ARE WORKING ON THE BODY ISSUE, WHICH I COULD CARE LESS ABOUT, HOWEVER, AFTER DOING A SCAN OF THE CAR SYSTEMS, WITH THE HAND HELD SCANNER, THE AIR BAG WARNING IS NOT A SENSOR ISSUE DUE TO THE COLLISION WITH THE DEER, BUT IT IS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR/WIRING WHICH SHOULD BE A TOYOTA ISSUE. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS AND THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ONLINE, BUT I HAVE NOT SEEN A RE-CALL FROM TOYOTA, THE FIX FOR THIS SITUATION IS TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER SEAT AT A COST OF ABOUT $3400.00. MY BIGGEST CONCERN IS WHY DID THE AIR BAGS NOT DEPLOY AND NOW IS THE TOTAL AIR BAG SYSTEM NOT FUNCTIONING? *TR
WIFE WAS DRIVING AND NOTED THAT THE RED AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT HAD GONE ON. WE STOPPED. I MOVED THE SEAT AND BEGAN DRIVING. THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT WAS OFF. THE LIGHT REMAINED OFF UNTIL EARLY 2014, WHEN IT BEGAN ALTERNATING PERIODS OF ON AND OFF. ON MARCH 27, 2014, WE TOOK OUR CAMRY TO OUR TOYOTA DEALER. THE DEALER WROTE (REPORT IS IN THE COMPUTER HOLDINGS OF TOYOTA MOTOR SALES, U.S.A.): "FOUND THE SEAT TRACK FLOOR COVERING HAS COME LOOSE WHICH ONCE THE SEAT HAS MOVED IT CAUSED THE COVER TO [BE] PUSHED AGAINST THE AIRBAG CONNECTOR UNDERNEATH THE SEAT. THIS CAUSES THE LIGHT TO COME ON DUE TO NO COMMUNICATION AT THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG SQUIB CONNECTOR. (CODE B1821)" THE DEALER REPAIRED THE WIRING. IT IS EVIDENT NOW THAT EACH TIME MY WIFE OR I MOVED THE DRIVER'S SEAT THERE WAS A POSSIBILITY OF DISRUPTION OF THE AIRBAG ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT. THE SEAT IS DRIVEN BY AN ELECTRIC MOTOR, SO THERE WAS NO CHANCE WE DISRUPTED THE WIRING AS MIGHT HAPPEN WITH A MANUALLY READJUSTED SEAT. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECT CAUSED BY POOR ENGINEERING DESIGN AND NOT A "WEAR AND TEAR" ISSUE. THE AIRBAG ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DESIGNED SO AS TO HAVE BEEN SAFE FROM DISRUPTION BY MOVEMENT OF THE DRIVER'S-SIDE SEAT. ON APRIL 9, 2014, TOYOTA ANNOUNCED A RECALL FOR AN AIRBAG ELECTRICAL CONNECTION DESIGN DEFECT--IN THE STEERING COLUMN RATHER THAN UNDER THE SEAT--SIMILAR TO WHAT WE EXPERIENCED. BASED ON OUR EXPERIENCE, THE RECALL DOES NOT GO AS FAR AS IT SHOULD HAVE. *TR
MY 2006 TOYOTA CAMRY SOLARA HAS DASHBOARD CRACKS THAT JUST APPEARED IN THE PAST SIX MONTHS. THIS APPEARS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH MANY SOLARA OWNERS. *TR
VEHICLE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON FOR PASSENGER SIDE. DASH MESSAGE SAID AIRBAG OFF EVEN THOUGH PASSENGER WAS IN THE SEAT. CAR WAS TAKEN TO DEALER WHO SAID "THE COMPUTER GOT CONFUSED, PROBABLY BECAUSE WEIGHT EXCEEDING TRIGGER THRESHOLD WAS REMOVED FROM SEAT & REPLACED WHILE CAR WAS RUNNING". COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE "RE-CALIBRATED". I WAS CHARGED $95 LABOR TO RE-CALIBRATE. IN MY OPINION FOR THE COMPUTER TO DISABLE THE AIRBAG BECAUSE SOMETHING WAS MOVED IN OR OUT OF THE SEAT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. IF THERE IS PROPER WEIGHT, THE BAG SHOULD BE ON, OTHERWISE OFF, BUT NOT DISABLED REQUIRING A TRIP TO THE DEALER TO FIX AND AN EXORBITANT LABOR CHARGE TO FIX. *TR
THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN WITHOUT ANY ADDITIONAL PRESSURE TO THE GAS PEDAL. THIS HAS OCCURRED TWO ADDITIONAL TIMES SINCE THE INITIAL OCCURRENCE. IT IS NOT UNDER RECALL AT THIS TIME, PER TOYOTA. *TR
I HAVE TWO COMPLAINTS. THE MAJOR ONE IS THE REAR SPEAKER COVERS. THEY STARTED IN JUNE OF 2013 WITH A SMALL HOLE. NOW THERE IS A LARGE HOLE AND THE OTHER ONE IS CRACKED ALL ACROSS IT. I AM ASSUMING IT IS MELTING. THE OTHER IS THE FABRIC IS COMING APART NEAR THE REAR DOOR CURVATURE TOWARD THE BACK. REGULAR GLUE CAN'T BE USED, IT WILL BURN. *TR

THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,103. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE DRIVEN WITH THE OVER DRIVE OPTION OFF. DURING SLOW TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE WAS KEPT IN DRIVE 3. THIS REDUCED THE HESITATION/SURGE EVENTS. UPDATED 08/21/2017*JS
DASHBOARD OF VEHICLE IS PREMATURELY DETERIORATED AND GETS STICKY AND SHINY IN HOT WEATHER. WHILE DRIVING THE GLARE OFF THE TOP OF THE DASHBOARD CAUSED ME TO LOSE SIGHT OF THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME WHICH STOPPED. I NEARLY RAN INTO THE VEHICLE. *TR
TRAVELING EAST ON INTERSTATE 10 WEST OF TONOPAH, AZ , FELT VIBRATION AND PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE RIGHT REAR TIRE SUFFERED A PARTIAL TREAD SEPARATION. TIRE WAS REPLACED WITH SPARE AND TRIP CONTINUED FOR ANOTHER 30 MILES WHEN THE LEFT FRONT TIRE SUFFERED A COMPLETE TREAD SEPARATION CAUSING NEARLY $1600 DOLLARS DAMAGE IN AND AROUND THE WHEEL WELL. TIRES WERE FIRESTONE FR380 P215/60R16 WITH LESS THAN 25,000 MILES. SUBSEQUENT CHECK OF TIRES INDICATED THAT THE TIRES WERE PROPERLY INFLATED. TIRES HAD BEEN ROTATED AND CHECKED ON A REGULAR BASIS WITH OIL CHANGES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A BRICK WALL AND SUSTAINED MINOR NECK INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. *TR
IN AN ATTEMPT TO PARK THE CAR IN A PARKING LOT, THE CARE ACCELERATED UNINTENTIONALLY AND JUMPED ON TO THE CURB AND CRASHED INTO A TRUNK A TREE. THE CAR WAS TOTALED. DRIVER LIGHTLY INJURED. *TR
BELTS SEPARATING ON TIRE. NORMAL IN-CITY DRIVING AT 30 MPH, THE TIRE STARTED TO MAKE VERY LOUD NOISE WHILE DRIVING, STARTED TO BOUNCE, AND CAR WOULDN'T DRIVE STRAIGHT AND PUSHING MY CAR INTO THE RIGHT LANE ALMOST HITTING EVERY CAR PASSING ON THE RIGHT AS I WAS TRYING TO SLOW DOWN. THE BELTS WERE SEPARATING FROM THE TIRE LOCATED ON THE RIGHT REAR OF THE TIRE. THIS TIRE IS AN ANOMALY FROM THE OTHER TIRES AS IT HAD MADE A LOT OF TIRE NOISE FOR A FEW MONTHS, AND HAD EXCESSIVE WEAR, BUT FIRESTONE SAID IT WAS NORMAL AND WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE TIRE. NOTE, THE TIRES WERE IN PERFECT FOUR WHEEL ALIGNMENT. NOW THAT THE BELTS ARE SEPARATED, FIRESTONE WILL NOT REPLACE THE MANUFACTURING DEFECTIVE TIRE. *TR
FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE SITTING AT A RED LIGHT. THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I WENT TO ACCELERATE AND PEDAL WAS STUCK, I ATTEMPTED TO PRESS IT AGAIN AND MY CAR JUST SHOT FORWARD VERY RAPIDLY. THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS IN FRONT OF ME. THIS HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE YEARS. OTHER TIMES, I WILL BE AT A CONSTANT SPEED ON THE INTERSTATE AND CAR WILL BEGIN TO ACCELERATE VERY QUICKLY THEN FALL BACK DOWN. IT HAS DONE THIS WHILE CRUISE CONTROL IS ON AND WHILE MY FOOT IS ON THE PEDAL. I TRIED BRAKING, THE BREAKS BEGAN TO SLOW ME DOWN BUT THE RPMS STILL ROSE RAPIDLY THEN FELL BACK TO NORMAL SEVERAL TIMES IN A ROW. IT SEEMS SEVERAL PEOPLE WITH MY SAME YEAR MODEL AND MAKE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. CAR HIT A LIGHT POLE AT 45 MILES PER HOUR. *TR
MY 2006 SOLARA CONVERTIBLE HAS DEEP CRACKS ALL ALONG THE DASH END TO END WHICH MAY AFFECT THE OPERABILITY OF THE AIRBAG. IT'S SHINY, GOOFY, STICKY WHICH DEFINITELY AFFECTS VISIBILITY. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT ELSE IT AFFECTS. I THOUGHT IT WAS CAUSED BY HEAT UNTIL I READ THE SOME 75 EXACTLY IDENTICAL COMPLAINTS. TOYOTA NEEDS TO RECALL THE DASH RATHER THAN ASK WE CONSUMERS TO PAY $2,400 TO FIX IT. THIS WAS A $32,000 VEHICLE. BAD ENOUGH THAT THE ADHESIVE AROUND THE BACK WINDOW DISSOLVED, NOW THIS. IT'S UNDRIVABLE, UNSALEABLE AND I ONLY HAVE 27000 MILES ON IT
DASHBOARD HAS VISIBLE CRACKS. CAR HAS ONLY 38000 MILES, ALWAYS GARAGED. *JS
SINCE 2009 MY DASH BOARD HAS BEEN CRACKING AND AS I HAVE SEARCH FOR A POSSIBLE RECALL, I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIND ONE THAT SHOWS TOYOTA IS TAKING RESPONSIBILITY ON IT. I HAVE SEARCHED ONLINE AND THERE SEEMS TO BE A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THEIR DASH CRACKING AND TOYOTA TAKING NO OWNERSHIP OF A POSSIBLE DEFECT IN IT. AS TIME PROGRESSES THERE ARE MORE CRACK THAT ARE APPEARING AND I AM AFRAID THAT IT WILL GET WORSE IF MY AIR BAG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DEPLOYS. *TR
STRUCK FROM REAR BY ANOTHER DRIVER AT HIGH RATE OF SPEED; WAS THROWN FORWARD INTO DRIVER SIDE INTERIOR DOOR PANEL AND DRIVER'S HEAD STRUCK THE CONVERTIBLE TOP METAL TOP-FOLDING STRUCTURE. BELIEVE THE SEAT BELT TENSIONER DEVICE FAILED TO FUNCTION PROPERLY AND THE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY, AS WELL. THE CONVERTIBLE TOP FOR THIS MODEL WAS IN THE UP POSITION AT IMPACT. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELT CAUSED BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER TO LURCH FORWARD, CAUSING SERIOUS BODILY DAMAGE TO BOTH PARTIES. DRIVER SUSTAINED BRAIN INJURY AND SPINAL INJURY AND IS STILL RECEIVING TREATMENT AND SURGERY FOR HIS INJURIES. PASSENGER IS ALSO RECEIVING ON-GOING TREATMENT FOR SPINAL AND KNEE INJURY SUSTAINED AS THE RESULT OF THE SEAT BELT TENSIONER AND AIR BAG FAILURE, AS WELL. *TR
PULLING INTO PARKING SPOT IN PARKING LOT. VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND JUMPED OVER CEMENT BREAKER. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS 06 SOLARA WITH ONE SMALL CRACK ON THE DASH, I THOUGHT THE STICKINESS AND BRIGHT SHINE (THAT IMPAIRS MY VISION) WAS DUE TO THE USE OF A VINYL OR LEATHER HIGH GLOSS PROTECTOR THE WAS USED ON THE DASH (SILLY ME). THE CAR IS GARAGE KEPT, A MONTH LATER I NOTICED ANOTHER CRACK AND THIS IS CONTINUING. AT THE PRESENT IT LOOKS AS IF HAS BEEN IN A CAT FIGHT. I OWNED A CAMRY FOR 12 YEARS AND IT WASN'T GARAGED, NEITHER DID I HAVE THIS PROBLEM. I WONDER IF THERE IS PRESSURE SOME WHERE IN THE DASH, IS IT THE MATERIAL THAT WAS USED, OR IS IT THE DESIGN OF THE DASH. WILL THERE EVER BE A RECALL OR AT THE LEAST SOME KIND OF HELP WITH THE REPAIR THAT HAS AFFECTED SO MANY PEOPLE? *TR
I WAS EASING INTO A PARKING SPACE IN FRONT OF A BANK AND WAS NEARLY STOPPED WHEN MY CAR SUDDENLY SURGED FORWARD. WITH A FULL PLATE GLASS WINDOW IN FRONT OF ME, I WRENCHED THE STEERING WHEEL AS FAST AND AS FAR TO THE RIGHT AS POSSIBLE AND DON'T KNOW HOW I MISSED THE CONCRETE PILLAR I THEN SAW IMMEDIATELY IN FRONT OF ME. THE NEXT THING I KNEW I WAS IN THE DRIVEWAY I HAD JUST USED TO ENTER THE PARKING LOT IN FRONT OF THE BANK.I THEN PULLED BACK INTO THE PARKING SPACE I HAD JUST LEFT AND GOT OUT TO FIGURE OUT WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND TO SEE IF I HAD CAUSED ANY DAMAGE. THE ONLY REAL DAMAGE WAS A LIGHT ON THE LAWN I HAD EVIDENTLY KNOCKED LOOSE FROM ITS BASE AND TIRE TRACKS IN THE GRASS. THE ONLY DAMAGE TO MY CAR WAS UNDERNEATH WHERE A SCREW HOLDING SOME PLASTIC PARTS TOGETHER WAS LOST. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR BECAUSE IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN, I MAY NOT BE SO LUCKY; PEOPLE MAY GET KILLED AND PROPERTY MAY BE BADLY DAMAGED. *TR
THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT GETS TANGLED WHENEVER IT IS PULLED OUT IN ORDER TO BUCKLE WHEN SOMEONE IS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. NORMALLY YOU HAVE TO MOVE THE ADJUSTABLE SLIDE FOR THE SEAT BELT OH THE SIDE OF THE CAR UP AND DOWN REPEATEDLY IN ORDER TO GET THE SEAT BELT ENTANGLED IN ORDER TO USE IT PROPERLY. IT HAS NOW BECOME FULLY EXTENDED AND WILL NOT RETRACT AT ALL MAKING IT UNUSABLE. I BOUGHT THE CAR USED IN 2011 AND IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE THEN. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, HE NOTICED FLUID LEAKING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THE BOOT WAS LEAKING AND THE RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 117,794. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 119,276.
THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON IN THE CAR. WE BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER AND WERE TOLD THAT THERE IS AN INTERNAL OPEN INSIDE CIRCUIT IN THE SIDE AIR BAG OF THE PASSENGER SEAT. BECAUSE THIS IS AN INTEGRAL PROBLEM WITH THE SEAT, IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. APPROXIMATE COST WITH TAX IS $3400.00. OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ARE ON THE INTERNET. I BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A SYSTEMIC ISSUE WITH THE SEAT/AIR BAG SYSTEM. *TR

THE DASHBOARD HAS BEEN CRACKING FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS. IT IS A GARAGED AUTOMOBILE AND WHEN PARKED OUTSIDE, THERE IS ALWAYS A FACTORY (TOYOTA) FRONT SUNSCREEN IN USE. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE FOR A CAR THAT IS WELL MAINTAINED AND GARAGED. *TR

I WAS TRAVELING SW AROUND 35MPH AND ENTERED AN INTERSECTION WITH THE GREEN LIGHT. ANOTHER (UNLICENSED) DRIVER ALSO TRAVELING AT THE SAME SPEED ENTERED THE INTERSECTION TRAVELING NE, HIS LIGHT WAS RED, BUT HE RAN IT. MY FRONT END IMPACTED HIS DRIVERS SIDE (NEAR THE FRONT TIRE) BOTH OF HIS AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, YET NEITHER OF MINE DID. MY FRONT END (FRAME) BENT LIKE A V-SHAPE, AND FLUID FROM THE RADIATOR DRAINED ONTO THE HOT ENGINE. I HAD TO BE EVACUATED FROM THE CAR BY THE LOCAL EMT AND WAS TAKEN BY AMBULANCE TO EMERGENCY. I HAVE PHOTOS THAT WOULD LOVE TO SHARE ESPECIALLY TOYOTA, SO THEY CAN EXPLAIN TO ME WHY THE AIR BAGS FAILED, AND PUT ME INTO WHAT IS GOING TO BE MONTHS OF THERAPY. *TR
THE DASHBOARD OF MY 2006 SOLARA IS MELTING AND SETS OFF A HIGH REFLECTIVE GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD MAKING IT DANGEROUS AND DIFFICULT TO SEE OUT OF THE WINDSHIELD. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH TOYOTA - CASE # WITHHOLDING IN 2013 BUT THEY SAID THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF ANYONE ELSE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. TOYOTA SENT ME TO LOCAL DEALER. DEALER GAVE ME THE SAME ANSWER EVEN AFTER I HAD SEEN THOUSANDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON INTERNET. NOTHING THEY COULD DO AND WANTED $2200 TO REPLACE IT. *TR

WE ARE EXPERIENCING STEERING WHEEL "CLUNKING' AND NOISES BEHIND THE STEERING COLUMN AND UNDER THE CAR WHEN WE MAKE TURNS AND JUST DRIVING. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC WHO PERFORMED AN INSPECTION ON THE CAR. HE SAID THAT THIS MAKE AND YEAR OF THE CAMRY ARE NOTORIOUS FOR THIS PROBLEM. TRUE, I SHOULD HAVE DONE MORE HOMEWORK. I WAS GAUGING MY DECISION ON MY PREVIOUS OWNERSHIP OF A CAMRY I HAD IN THE 90'S. I HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THAT CAR. I JUST WENT TO A WEBSITE, CARCOMPLAINTS.COM, AND SEEN ALL THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUES ABOUT THIS STEERING DEFECT, SOME TO THE POINT OF THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKING UP WHILE THEY WERE DRIVING! OVER AND OVER I SEEN THESE CUSTOMERS TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER OR CONTACTED TOYOTA DIRECTLY AND THEY WERE AFFORDED NO ASSISTANCE. THEY WERE TOLD THEY SHOULD HAVE BROUGHT IT BACK BEFORE 36, 000 MILES, THERE WAS NO PROBLEM THAT THEY COULD FIND, JUST REAL COWARDLY BEHAVIOR FROM THE PEOPLE WHO COULD RECALL THESE VEHICLES AND FIX THIS PERSISTENT SAFETY ISSUE! I AM STILL DISCOVERING ALL THE COMPLAINTS AND ISSUES WITH THIS STEERING PROBLEM BUT IT SEEMS TO BE NATIONWIDE SO WHY ARE THEY NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THIS DEFECT? DRIVERS WINDOW SWITCH BURNT OUT CAUSING WINDOW MOTOR TO FAIL. TOYOTA IS RECALLING 7.5 MILLION CARS FOR THIS, BUT SAYS THAT MINE IS NOT ONE OF THEM. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY HAD TO BE PLACED BACK INTO THE IGNITION SWITCH AND TURNED TO THE OFF POSITION. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE CONSUMER INFORMED THE DEALER AND WAS IT WAS NOT A SAFETY CONCERN. THE CONSUMER LATER LEARNED OF A SERVICE BULLETIN PERTAINING TO THE "CLUNKING" NOISE AND BROUGHT TO THE DEALER'S ATTENTION. THE DEALER WOULD NOT ASSIST THE CONSUMER WITH REPAIRS, STATING THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THAT THERE WAS NO DOCUMENTATION OF A COMPLAINT PRIOR TO THE VEHICLE BEING OUT OF WARRANTY.
