THE WATER PUMP FAILED. I WAS TOLD BY MY LOCAL SERVICE CENTER THAT THEY ARE SEEING MANY OF THE FAILURES, SPECIFICALLY THE 2007 HYBRID WITH THE 4 CYLINDER ENGINE. *TR
MY 07 CAMRY 2.4L CE, HAS AN EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. I HAVE TO FILL OIL IN THE ENGINE EVERY 1000-1500 MILES WITH 1-2QT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE WHEN HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE, DRIVER'S SIDE AND REAR STRUTS WAS LEAKING FLUIDS, WHICH WOULD REQUIRE REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO ADVISED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO OTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,168.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKING, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED DURING THE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND ONCE THE CONTACT RESTARTED AND SHIFTED INTO REVERSE, THE FAILURE RECURRED AS THE VEHICLE RAPIDLY ACCELRATED BACKWARD. THE CONTACT THEN CRASHED INTO A PARKED VEHICLE. THE PASSENGER IN THE OTHER VEHICLE SUSTAINED A BACK INJURY AS A RESULT OF THE CRASH. THE CONTACT STATED THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED WHEN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP CAUSING DRIVING VISIBILITY ISSUES TO THE POINT I HAD TO PULL IT DOWN. STILL HAVE VISIBILITY ISSUES WITHOUT A VISOR BUT HAVE LESS DANGEROUS THAN WITH THE DEFECTIVE ONE IN PLACE. NUMEROUS FORUMS INDICATE OTHER 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY'S WITH SAME ISSUE. SHOULD BE A TOYOTA RECALL ITEM VS. FLEECING CONSUMERS THE $200 FOR A DEALER TO REPLACE. *TR ## VIN FAILED ##
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE ABNORMALLY THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHEN BRAKING TO A STOP, THE VEHICLE WOULD VEER TO THE RIGHT. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE FIRST SET OF TIRES AT 28,000 MILES AND NEEDED TO REPLACE THEM AGAIN AT 55,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE AN ALL WHEEL ALIGNMENT WAS PERFORMED. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT END STEERING WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REPAIR REMEDIED THE STEERING FAILURE HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ABNORMALLY VEER TO THE RIGHT WHEN BRAKING TO A STOP. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE ATTEMPTED TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKE BUT IT BECAME STUCK AND SHE WAS UNABLE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP SAFELY. THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY CRASHED INTO A TREE AND THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT SUFFERED NECK PAIN AND WAS TAKEN TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INSPECTORS WERE DISPATCHED TO DIAGNOSIS THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS STILL AWAITING THE RESULTS OF THE INVESTIGATION. ONE MONTH AFTER THE CRASH THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V017000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL: ACCELERATOR PEDAL). THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACT BUT THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
TODAY MY WINDOW ON THE PASSER SIDE STARTED ACTING UP NOT ROLLING UP OR DOWN. I PARKED WENT IN TO THE BANK WHEN I CAME OUT STARTED MY CAR AND AS SOON AS I BACKED UP I NOTICED A BURNING SMELL THEN I SEEN LITTLE SMOKE FROM THE WINDOW PANEL SWITCH THEN IT GOT HEAVY AND STARTED TO BURN. I OPENED MY DOOR AND STARTED BLOWING IN THE SWITCH AND THE WINDOW CRACK. I WENT ON LINE AND SEEN THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED WITH MY CAR MAKE AND YEAR. *TR

BOUGHT THIS CAMRY NEW IN 2007 FOR MY WIFE. I'VE MAINTAINED IT AS PER MFG SCHEDULE. AFTER HAVING OIL CHANGE DONE AT AROUND 65000 MILES, I WAS DRIVING VEHICLE & NOTICED OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY. UPON ARRIVING HOME, CHECKED DIP STICK & THERE WAS NO OIL ON STICK!!. THIS WAS AFTER OIL CHANGE 2000 MILES AGO. I TOOK VEHICLE TO A DIFFERENT SERVICE STATION TO GET CAR LOOKED AT & A NEW OIL CHANGE. THE TECH FOUND NO OIL LEAKS.. HE MENTIONED THAT HE HAD HEARD OF CAMRYS HAVING EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEMS. WENT ON INTERNET, FOUND A LOT OF OTHER OWNERS OF CAMRYS, THIS AGE & WITH AROUND THE SAME MILEAGE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVEN'T TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AS I DON'T WANT TO BE TOLD "THAT THIS IS NORMAL:, "THAT EXPENSIVE REPAIRS ARE NECESSARY" BUT DON'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HAVING THE VEHICLE INSPECTED BY THE DEALER THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR WAS LEAKING OIL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 66,560.
THE DASHBOARD SEEMS TO BE DISINTEGRATING. THE AREA ON THE FRONT PART OF THE DASHBOARD (CLOSEST TO THE WINDSHIELD) SEEMS TO BE THE WORSE, ALTHOUGH THE PROBLEM IS SPREADING TO THE ENTIRE DASH. IT IS STICKY, TACKY, SHINY AND GOUGES EASILY. THIS PROBLEM IS CREATING A GLARE AND IS DANGEROUS. THE DASH IS BASICALLY MELTING. I WORRY ABOUT THE FUNCTION OF THE AIRBAGS. IS THERE DOCUMENTATION THAT STATES THE SAFETY OF THE AIRBAG IS NOT COMPROMISED? WHAT ABOUT THE WINDSHIELD? TOYOTA NEEDS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. *TR
DASH BOARD IS EXTREMELY STICKY. IT CAN NOT BE CLEANED OR TOUCHED WITH OUT STICKING TO IT OR GOUGING OUT A CHUNK OF IT. EVEN IN THE COLD WEATHER IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO CLEAN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, SHE NOTICED A GRINDING SOUND WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
THE BRAKES FAILED DUE TO A BAD ACTUATOR PUMP. I WAS LUCKY I DID NOT GET IN AN ACCIDENT. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE KILLEEN TOYOTA DEALER AND HAD IT REPAIRED/REPLACED FOR APPROXIMATELY $2000. *TR
OVER THE COURSE OF THE PAST YEAR, THE DASHBOARD OF MY CAMRY HAS DEVOLVED INTO A STICKY, SHINY MESS. THE SURFACE OF MOST OF THE DASHBOARD HAS A GLUEY TEXTURE, WITH THE PARTS NEAREST THE WINDSHIELD HAVING COMPLETELY LIQUEFIED. THE STICKY AREAS ARE VERY SHINY, CAUSING GLARE THAT COVERS MUCH OF THE WINDSHIELD WHEN DRIVING TOWARDS THE SUN OR UNDER STREETLIGHTS. THIS GLARE IS VERY DISTRACTING AND SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCES VISIBILITY. *TR
CRACKS ALL OVER DASHBOARD AND GLOVE COMPARTMENT. CRACKS AND PEELING NOT WARRANTED. CAR WAS PREVIOUSLY GARAGED AND ALSO WINDOW COVER TO PREVENT HEAT. MANY CLAIMS AGAINST TOYOTA FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
2007 TOYOTA CAMRY LE 6 CYL. - PREMATURE WATER PUMP FAILURE WITH 32,755 MILES. THE DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN REGARDING LEAKING WATER PUMPS. THEY CLAIMED THAT THEY WOULD GIVE ME A DISCOUNT ON A NEW PUMP....LABOR & PARTS TOTALED OVER $800.00 !! *TR
AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT HAS BEEN ON SINCE AT LEAST 9/18/12. SEVERAL TOYOTA TECHNICIANS STATED IT WAS THE SQUIB CABLE IN THE STEERING WHEEL THAT NEEDS REPLACEMENT - OTHER TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVES STATE THAT IT IS NOT THE CABLE. I KNOW THE TOYOTA TACOMA (?) TRUCK WAS RECALLED FOR A SIMILAR PROBLEM AND THE DEFECT CORRECTED. I CANNOT GET A STRAIGHT ANSWER FROM TOYOTA IF THE AIR BAGS WILL ENGAGE IN A COLLISION - SOME TECHNICIANS SAY IT MAY OR MAY NOT. THE COST TO REPAIR WAS QUOTED TO BE SOMEWHERE AROUND $680.00. *TR
THE DASHBOARD HAS BEEN STICKY FOR 3 YEARS, WITH A GLARE ON THE RIGHT SIDE WHEN DRIVING. I HAVE CONTACTED MY TOYOTA DEALER X3 DURING ROUTINE MAINTAINENCE AND HAVE TOLD THEM THE PROBLEM. TOYOTA SAYS THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS AND IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND I CAN HAVE IT REPLACED FOR MORE THAN $3,000.00. TOYOTA DENIES THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURER PROBLEM. MY GLOVE COMPARTMENT HAS CRACKED AND SPLIT ALSO, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE NOT OPENED THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT IN 1 YEAR. THERE IS A WEB SITE-"STICKY DASHBOARD/TOYOTA SOLARA WITH OVER 700 COMPLAINTS, AND TOYOTA DENIES ANY KNOWLEDGE OF THIS WEB SITE. I HAVE NOTIFIED TOYOTA CORPORATE OFFICE WITH THIS COMPLAINT, CASE# 1401170834 OVER 18 MONTHS AGO WITH NO FOLLOW-UP FROM TOYOTA. ON AUGUST 27, WFLA TV FROM TAMPA, FLORIDA HAD A SEGMENT ON A VENICE TOYOTA OWNER WITH THE SAME STICKY DASHBOARD MELTING PROBLEM AND TOYOTA REFUSING TO FIX HIS PROBLEM. MY CAR IS ESSENTIAL TO MY WORK AND OTHER COMMITMENTS, AND I HOPE THIS CAN BE RESOLVED IN THE NEAR FUTURE. THANK-YOU. *TR

VSC SYSTEM, CHECK ENGINE, AND EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON AT THE SAME TIME THE BRAKES STOPPED WORKING PROPERLY. I WAS BRAKING AND THE BRAKE PEDDLE PUSHED BACK AT ME, RELEASING THE BRAKES. WHEN I CONTINUED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKES, THE USUAL RESISTANCE AND BRAKING POWER WAS GONE. I HAD TO PRESS DOWN AS HARD AS I COULD TO GET THE CAR TO STOP. THIS IS INTERMITTENT AND TENDS TO HAPPEN WHEN THE CAR IS COLD. DEALERSHIP COULD NOT DISCOVER A PROBLEM AS THE COMPUTER DID NOT RECORD AN ERROR. INTERNET RESEARCH INDICATED OTHER TOYOTA HYBRID OWNERS EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM AND DETERMINED THE CAUSE WAS THE STROKE SENSOR. WHEN I RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP, THEY INSISTED I CHANGE THE TIRES. THE PROBLEM CONTINUES TO OCCUR. *TR UPDATED 07/30/13*LJ UPDATED 8/22/13 *CN
POWER STEERING LIGHT (P/S) LIGHT COMES ON AND LOSE OF POWER STEERING WILL LAST UNTIL THE CAR IS SHUT OFF AND YOU WAIT FOR AWHILE AND SOMETIMES WHEN RESTARTED IT WILL BE OKAY. (SOMETIMES NOT OKAY) I HAVE TO DRIVE IT HOME USING ALL THE MUSCLING I CAN MUSTER TO TURN CORNERS. PERIODIC INSTANCES HAVE BECOME MORE FREQUENT. WHEN I START THE CAR THE POWER STEERING LIGHT COMES ON AND IT IS HARD TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. SOMETIMES WHEN I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND WAIT AWHILE IT WILL BE OKAY TO DRIVE. I HAVE A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY THAT HAS THE MELTING DASHBOARD. I COMPLAINED ABOUT IT MANY TIMES STARTING IN SEPTEMBER OF 2012. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS MY FAULT. SOMETHING I USED ON DASHBOARD. (CLEANING PRODUCT). I KNEW I HAD NOT AND INSISTED MID LAST YEAR THAT THEY TAKE PICTURES AND SUBMIT TO HAVE IT FIXED. I DID NOT GET A RESPONSE. LAST MONTH AUGUST, 2014 8 ON YOUR SIDE AIRED THE STORY ON MELTING DASHBOARDS. I CALLED TOYOTA AGAIN AND THEY SAID THEY WERE SORRY NO ONE GOT BACK TO ME. THEY SAID THEY HAD THE COMPLAINT ON FILE, BUT COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY I GOT NO RESPONSE. A FEW DAYS LATER THEY SAID THEY WOULD FIX IT FOR JUST UNDER $800.00. I FEEL THIS IS A MANUFACTURER PROBLEM AND THINK IT SHOULD BE A RECALL. THE GLARE IT CAUSES OFF THE WINDSHIELD MAKES IF DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. ALSO MELTING PLASTIC MAY NOT BE GOOD FOR THE AIR QUALITY. THE DASHBOARD OF MY VEHICLE HAS BECOME VERY STICKY AND SHINY CAUSING A VISIBILITY HAZARD DUE TO THE REFLECTION ON THE WINDSHIELD. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE ONLY "REMEDY" IS TO REPLACE THE DASHBOARD SINCE I AM UNABLE TO EVEN TOUCH THE SURFACE TO POSSIBLY WIPE OFF THE SHINE. TOYOTA (ALL VEHICLE MANUFACTURERS FOR THE MATTER) SHOULD BE CHARGED WITH THE RESPONSIBILITY OF INSTALLING MATERIALS THAT DO NOT BECOME A HAZARD TO DRIVERS OVER TIME. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY YESTERDAY WHEN MY LEFT FRONT TIRE BLEW OUT(OR WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A BLOW OUT). I WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND WAS, BY THE GRACE OF GOD, ABLE TO KEEP THE CAR IN CONTROL. WHEN I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER, I FOUND THAT MY TREAD HAD COMPLETELY SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE AND WHEN IT PEELED AWAY , IT TOOK PART OF MY BUMPER AWAY. I GET REGULAR MAINTENANCE ON THIS CAR. I JUST PURCHASED IT A YEAR AGO.THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF A PROBLEM, NO NOISE, NO "LIGHT" NOTHING. JUST BOOM. *TR

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,500.

DASHBOARD IS MELTING, SOFT, AND STICKY TO TOUCH. DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT IS MELTING, IT HAS BECOME VERY SHINY AND BRIGHT. THE SHINY MELTING DASHBOARD CREATES A LARGE BRIGHT REFLECTION IN THE WINDSHIELD THAT CAN'T BE LOOKED AT OR THROUGH. THIS ISSUE IMPAIRS THE DRIVERS VIEW OF THE ROAD AHEAD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH OVER A ROAD BUMP, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DRIVE EXTREMELY HARD. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO DRIVE AND INSPECTED THE VEHICLE ONCE HE REACHED HIS RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FOUR STRUTS WERE LEAKING OIL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO ADVISED THAT THE FOUR STRUTS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE DASHBOARD ON MY SOLAR BECAME STICKY AND STARTED TO CRACK IN MULTIPLE SPOTS. AFTER DOING A LITTLE RESEARCH ONLINE, I LEARNED THAT THE SOLARA AND OTHER TOYOTA MODELS HAD ISSUES WITH THE DASHBOARDS. I LEARNED THAT MY ISSUES WAS NOT ISOLATED. COUNTLESS OTHER TOYOTA OWNERS WERE REPORTING THE SAME ISSUE ONLINE. SHORTLY AFTER LEARNING THIS, I TOOK MY SOLARA TO MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP FOR ASSISTANCE AND WAS TOLD "THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO FOR YOU". TOYOTA ACKNOWLEDGED AND RECOGNIZED THE ISSUE WITH MY DASHBOARD - EVEN MADE MENTION OF CUSTOMERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE - YET REFUSED TO TAKE ANY ACTION. IN SUMMARY, I WAS TOLD BY TOYOTA THAT THE REPAIR COST OF MY DAMAGED DASHBOARD - DESPITE THEIR KNOWLEDGE OF THE POOR QUALITY MATERIALS USED IN ITS CONSTRUCTION - WOULD NOT BE COVED BY TOYOTA. ADDITIONALLY, I WAS TOLD THAT THE COST OF A REPLACEMENT DASHBOARD WOULD COST AS MUCH AS $2000 AND THAT THE NEW DASH MY IN FACT ALSO SHOW SIGNS OF CRACKING SHORTLY AFTER INSTALLATION. HOW CAN TOYOTA IGNORE THIS MATTER WHEN SO MANY OTHER OWNERS TOO HAVE REPORTED THIS MATTER. *TR
DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR FLOPS DOWN AND CANNOT BE RAISED TO UP POSITION. *TR
DRIVER'S-SIDE VISOR DOES NOT HOLD IT'S POSITION ANYMORE. HIT MY HEAD DURING DRIVING AND CANNOT BE PUT INTO PLACE. DOESN'T HOLD AND STAYS FLOPPED DOWN EVEN WHEN CLIPPED INTO HOLDER. DRIVING HAZARD ESPECIALLY IN LESS THAN IDEAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, THE BRAKE FAILURE LIGHT CAME UP AND THE BRAKES BECAME INEFFECTIVE. AS I WAS DRIVING, THE BRAKES WENT SOFT TO THE FLOOR, AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN ENGAGED. IT BRAKE SO HARD, IT FELT LIKE A HIT SOMETHING. A FEW DAYS LATER, THE BRAKE LIGHT, TRACTION/STABILITY CONTROL (VSC) AND ABS LIGHTS TURNED ON, AND CHECK VSC SYSTEM DISPLAYED. I TOOK IT TO TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS ABS ACTUATOR FAILURE AND MALFUNCTIONING OF THE REAR BRAKES. I CONTACTED TOYOTA ABOUT THE FAILURE AND THEY CLAIMED THAT MY SITUATION WAS ONE OF A KIND AND THERE WAS NOT PATTERN OF SIMILAR FAILURES FOR THIS MODEL. AFTER PROLONGED ARGUMENTS WITH TOYOTA AND THE DEALERSHIP, I COULD NOT GET THEM TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM UNDER THE 100,000 MILES WARRANTY FOR THE HYBRID COMPONENTS OF THE CAR. I HAD TO PAY OVER $3,000 TO GET THE CAR REPAIRED. TODAY, I FOUND OUT (THROUGH CONSUMER REPORTS FORUMS) THAT THERE ARE OTHER OWNERS OF THIS CAR THAT HAVE FACED EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM, INDICATING THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED BY NHTSA BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR LOSES LIFE. *TR

THE POLICE WERE NOTIFIED OF THE CRASH HOWEVER, A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS INOPERABLE WAS TOWED FROM THE SCENE FOR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD BE INSPECTED AND OFFERED NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 43,000. THE CONSUMER STATED HE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION ON 08/26/12. HE WAS ROLLING SLOWLY INTO AN ANGLED PARKING SPACE AT 5 MPH, WITH HIS FOOT HOVERING OVER THE BRAKE. WHEN HE TOUCHED THE BRAKE GENTLY, THE VEHICLE TOOK OFF AT FULL THROTTLE. THIS WAS DUE, TO A MALFUNCTION CAUSED BY ELECTROMAGNETIC INTERFERENCE. THE WHEELS WERE SPINNING, AND THERE WAS A SMELL OF BURNING RUBBER, ACCORDING TO AN EYE WITNESS. ON AUGUST 24TH , 2012, AROUND 4:34PM, I WAS TRAVELING IN MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY ON RIDGE ROAD IN DAYTON NJ. ALL OF A SUDDEN I SMELL SOMETHING LIKE BURNING PLASTIC,SECONDS LATER I OBSERVED SMOKE COMING FROM THE DRIVER SIDE POWER-WINDOW SWITCH. 08/15/12, MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY CAUGHT FIRE WITHOUT WARNING. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE RADIO AS WELL AS ALL THE GAUGES ON THE DASH WENT COMPLETELY DEAD FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS THEN RETURNED TO NORMAL. I EXITED THE HIGHWAY, AND ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION WITHIN 2 MINUTES. I PARKED AND EXITED THE VEHICLE AND 10 MINUTES LATER THE CAR WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE DEALERSHIP REPORTED THAT THE FIRE STARTED IN THE ELECTRICAL BOX AND APPEARED TO BE A MECHANICAL DEFECT. THERE WAS NO AFTERMARKET EQUIPMENT ADDED TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED BY THE DEALER 8 WEEKS PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. *TR
