This page combines three types of NHTSA data: recall campaigns (official manufacturer or government actions), owner complaints (unverified consumer reports), and crash test ratings (where available). A vehicle with many complaints is not necessarily less reliable — complaint volume correlates with sales volume and vehicle age. Recalls indicate identified defects, not overall quality. To compare this model year with others, use the year navigation in the sidebar or return to the model overview page.

TOYOTA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2004-2010 PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL CAN GET STUCK IN THE WIDE OPEN POSITION DUE TO ITS BEING TRAPPED BY AN UNSECURED OR INCOMPATIBLE DRIVER'S FLOOR MAT.
Remedy Status
TOYOTA FILED AN AMENDED DEFECT REPORT ON NOVEMBER 25, 2009, STATING THAT DEALERS WILL MODIFY THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND, ON CERTAIN VEHICLES, ALTER THE SHAPE OF THE FLOOR SURFACE UNDER THE PEDAL. THESE CHANGES ADDRESS THE RISK OF PEDAL ENTRAPMENT DUE TO INTERFERENCE WITH THE FLOOR MAT. REDESIGNED ACCELERATOR PEDALS WILL BECOME AVAILABLE BEGINNING IN APRIL 2010 AND DEALERS WILL REPLACE ANY MODIFIED PEDAL WITH THE NEW PEDAL IF DESIRED. ALSO, DEALERS WILL REPLACE ANY GENUINE TOYOTA OR LEXUS ALL-WEATHER FLOOR MATS WITH REDESIGNED ALL-WEATHER MATS, OR REPURCHASE THE PREVIOUS MATS FROM OWNERS WHO DO NOT WANT THE NEW ONES. ADDITIONALLY, SOFTWARE MODIFICATIONS WILL BE INSTALLED ON CAMRY, AVALON AND LEXUS ES 350, IS 350 AND IS 250 MODELS THAT WILL ENSURE THAT THE BRAKE OVERRIDES THE ACCELERATOR IN THE EVENT BOTH BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDALS ARE APPLIED. THE AWFM INCLUDES TWO GROMMET HOLES AND RETAINING HOOKS (CLIPS) TO SECURE THE MAT TO THE VEHICLE'S CARPET. IF THE AWFM IS NOT SECURED BY ITSELF OR IF IT IS PLACED ON TOP OF AN EXISTING CARPETING FLOOR MAT, THE MAT COULD MOVE FORWARD DURING THE VEHICLE USAGE AND IT MAY INTERFERE WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL.
Remedy Status
TOYOTA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS OF ALL 2007 AND 2008 LEXUS ES350 AND TOYOTA CAMRY VEHICLES ABOUT THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH NOT ALL OF THESE OWNERS WILL HAVE PURCHASED THE ALL WEATHER MATS. DUE TO THE MANNER IN WHICH THE FRICTION LEVER INTERACTS WITH THE SLIDING SURFACE OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL INSIDE THE PEDAL SENSOR ASSEMBLY, THE SLIDING SURFACE OF THE LEVER MAY BECOME SMOOTH DURING VEHICLE OPERATION. IN THIS CONDITION, IF CONDENSATION OCCURS ON THE SURFACE, AS MAY OCCUR FROM HEATER OPERATION (WITHOUT A/C) WHEN THE PEDAL ASSEMBLY IS COLD, THE FRICTION WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS OPERATED MAY INCREASE, WHICH MAY RESULT IN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECOMING HARDER TO DEPRESS, SLOWER TO RETURN, OR, IN THE WORST CASE, MECHANICALLY STUCK IN A PARTIALLY DEPRESSED POSITION.
Remedy Status

Contacted TMC and was told a recall WAS performed on my car in 2010 for excessive acceleration. However, after further investigation, I learned there was not ONE but TWO different recalls for SIMILAR circumstances(acceleration) and was not informed whether BOTH were completed. I have had vehicle for approx. 5 years and have intermittently experienced the SAME problem. The last few weeks, it has happened more frequently and is becoming dangerous to drive! Also, I was told, since the ONE recall was completed, TMC declined to address the recent problem. Is there a possibility the FIRST recall was not COMPLETELY SUFFICIENT for both. I hope I can get an answer, as I have run out of options. I don't believe I should have to PAY for something that was supposedly FIXED even 10 years ago! I would, again appreciate any help. Thank you.
Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact discovered a mileage discrepancy after the purchase. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 144,000. It was later discovered that the mileage on the Title was 291,510.
ABS and VSC lights on the dash have been flashing on and off for the last few years. They always went off after flashing. 2 weeks ago they both flashed on and the warning message "Check VSC System" came on with a loud buzzing whine. Now they will not go off. The brake pedal pulses back when applied and felt very hard. It took the car a long time to stop which is a safety danger. Took it to an independent mechanic and he diagnosed that the ABS system has failed. He also mentioned that Toyota issued several Customer Support Notices to repair or replace the unit but I did not get them even though I am the only owner and still resides at the same address. He gave me the notices and I went to a Toyota dealer but it refuse to provide any warranty work and wanted to charge me for another diagnosis, stating the notices had long expired.
My 2007 Toyota Camry has a severely melted and sticky dashboard, a known manufacturing defect (Program ZE6). The surface has become highly reflective, creating a blinding sun glare on the windshield that significantly obstructs my visibility while driving, posing an immediate safety hazard. Additionally, the melting material releases pungent chemical fumes (VOCs) in the cabin, causing respiratory discomfort and health concerns. Despite being a documented safety defect, Toyota refused a goodwill repair because the initial warranty program has expired. A safety defect that impairs driver vision should not have an expiration date.
When I purchased this vehicle there were no problems, no lights on my dash, the trim all matched and was the color blue. Then after having a falling out with some family members I started noticing problems with my HVAC system. It started with antifreeze leaks then id fix it and the next week the radiator hose would be leaking again. I started really keeping track of everything about my car after that. Next I started noticing parts changed and parts missing. My VSC fuse block in the engine bay is completely missing now. Next I started noticing while driving my seat would move without me doing anything. The family member that I had a falling out with is in the HVAC union also. While driving I hear some type of switch click on and a gas smell starting coming out of my vents. Also I noticed after getting an aliment done that someone had adjusted the aliment bolts over night it's very noticable. You can clearly see where someone ran new electric wires for something. I went to the police 3 the mea about the issue but no investigation. Please help.
Engine—was told by dealership that we needed a new motor because of lack of oil in engine - had not seen oil drips or any smoking out of muffler. No lights on dashboard. Only been serviced by dealership. Told us; we needed to keep check and add oil as needed until we decided on a new motor or trade. Either is not a good option because of expense. We are probably going to bite the bullet and have to trade with not being able to get much out of trade because of this. The car is in very good condition, no wrecks and had hoped we were to get more mileage. We keep check and add oil. Know this is just a complaint, but am sure others had same problem.
ALL OF A SUDDEN, ALL OF MY WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON INCLUDING: BRAKE LIGHT, CHECK VCS SYSTEM, ABS, ALL OF THE EXCLAMATION LIGHTS, ETC.. IVE BEEN VERY DILIGENT ABOUT THE MAINTENACE ON Y VEHICLE AND HAD THE CODES READ AND RESET, BUT THEY KEEP COMING BACK ON. THE MAJOR ISSUES ARE THE ABS, CATALYTIC CONVERTER EROR CODE & THE ABS MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO BREAK. IVE HAD IT LOOKED AT AND THE MECHANICS ARE SAYING THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. ALSO, THE MIRROR VISOR ON DRIVER SIDE STOPPED WORKING & CONSTANTLY FALLS DOWN BLOCKING MY VIEW. ITS VERY DANGEROUS! PLEASE ADVISE TOYOTA OF THESE ISSUES. IVE ALREADY HAD THE HYBRID BATTERY COMPLETELY REPLACED AND BREAKS & ROUTERS, BUT THE CODES SHOWING ARE: •P0420 and •P1423, •C1391, - Ask about a recall •B1241, •B2784, •B2281, •C2124 THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I purchased my 2007 Toyota Camry brand new. Since early ownership, the vehicle has suffered from excessive engine oil consumption. Toyota acknowledged this issue and performed major engine repairs at a Toyota dealership, including replacing pistons and piston rings under their oil consumption program, but the defect continued. The vehicle continues to consume approximately 1.5 quarts of oil every 1–2 months. This defect affects engine reliability and long-term safety. Despite these repairs, the oil consumption problem was never resolved. I was instructed by Toyota to track the amount of oil I was forced to purchase and was told I would be reimbursed. I complied, but Toyota never reimbursed me. I have an extensive repair history with Toyota. A Toyota dealership technician informed me that my repair history is unusually extensive and described it as a “book” in Toyota’s system. The vehicle continues to consume excessive oil, requiring frequent top-offs that pose a risk of engine failure if not constantly monitored. Toyota has failed to permanently correct a known defect despite repeated repair attempts. I believe this is a widespread defect affecting 2007 Toyota Camry vehicles equipped with the 2AZ-FE engine and request NHTSA review this matter.
The problem that I have is the same as the one I years ago. There was a recall on 2007 Toyota Camrys for oil consumption. At the time I waws never getting the maintenance indicator because the engine would run low on oil before I needed an oil change. I am having the same problem again. The car is not leaking oil. It's consuming oil. I now must drive around with extra oil in the trunk in case the oil is low. I have been a Toyota owner since 1986. I have always thought of Toyota as being one of the most reliable cars on the road. I have taken the car to the dealer near me (Toyota South Morrow, GA). Of course they do not want to further investigate this problem further. But I am sure is the problem. My mechanic also agrees that this is likely the problem.? What component failed? Engine / Oil How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The car could stop at any time with engine failure, blown gaskets, etc. The problem is easily reproduce every oil change. Toyota Dealership has reviewed the problem. Now the consumption is so bad I have to check the oil every 2 weeks. The low oil indicator does not come on. Is there another recall possible if this first recall doesn't fix the problem permanently.
Because of the sticky dash’s glare on the driver side windshield, I could not see the car ahead of me at all. I almost hit a car that was in front of me not because he had braked because we were both still in motion but the glare was directly in my line of vision. I just happened to put my hand up over the glare and saw there was actually a silver car in front of me and I was way to close to it. No accident occurred but it almost did and certainly could have injured me and/or my passengers. This has to be fixed! That scared me to death! I truly had no idea there was a car in front of me as I could NOT see it from the dash’s glare off the windshield.
Hi, In my car VSC light is always on, I got it scan as well but it doesn't show any code for VSC and ABS systems. Toyota dealership also don't give any information about the codes. It's kind of very dangerous to drive with all the lights on the cluster. Thank You
I have been in an accident on [XXX] at this location [XXX] . I was driving the Toyota Camry 2007 model car. So my car got with another car. From the accident my front of the car got damaged heavily, even though the airbags didn't deployed. So my chest got hit with steering and had a neck injury INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Vehicles dash board is melting. Produces a high shine effect that reflects sunlight into the front glass, effectively blinding the driver. Toyota has acknowledged this in a “warranty enhancement program” but will no longer repair the dashboard as the recall has “expired”. The warranty program had expired prior to me taking ownership of the vehicle. Engine burns oil due to piston assembly manufacturing errors. Toyota has acknowledged this in T-SB-0158-14 but will no longer repair the engine as the recall has “expired”. The recall had expired prior to me taking ownership of the vehicle.
Twice: once in August and most importantly 09/07/2024 was slowing down to stop at a dry cleaners when the car reved up and accelerated forward. I continued to apply brakes all the way to the floor and couldn’t get it to stop, so ran into the businesses’s van. USAA paidfor repairs to both, but due to fears for my safety and life and those of others, I have not driven it since. I have had it towed for repairs and to be checked by an engineer sent by Toyota.and have had to rent or borrow or pay for rides up until now. The USAA sebt engineer came to check the car but decide the car was fine and Toyota would not offer help with replacement
Whenever I start my car I can see a red triangle symbol I think it’s SRS warning light. Then I check my owner’s manual then I find out that it’s SRS warning lights. I don’t know what to do. Please let me know what should I do?
Heard a pop while driving and the side airbag cover doesn’t properly stay in place
