THE DASHBOARD OF MY TOYOTA IS FALLING APART. IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS IT CONTAINS THE PASSENGER AIR BAG. ADDITIONALLY, THE GLARE CAUSED BY THE SHINE IS VERY DISTRACTING BOTH DAY AND NIGHT AS SUNLIGHT AND LIGHTS REFLECT AND BLIND THE DRIVER. I BELIEVE WARRANTIES SHOULD COVER ANYTHING THAT IS A DEFECTIVE PART AND THAT'S WHAT THIS IS, A DEFECTIVE PART, IF A PART IS DEFECTIVE WHEN YOU MANUFACTURER THE CAR OR WHETHER IT FAILS WITHIN WARRANTY OR OUT OF WARRANTY IT SHOULDN'T MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE." I AND OTHER DRIVERS FEEL THE DEFECT IS UNSAFE, AND SHINE A LIGHT ON THE ISSUE WITH VIDEOS TAKEN FROM THEIR POINT OF VIEW. NOW WE'VE LEARNED THE SAFETY ISSUES MAY GO EVEN DEEPER. "BECAUSE THIS DASHBOARD HAS THE AIRBAG INSIDE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE I WOULDN'T FEEL SAFE IN A CAR THAT HAD A CRACKED DASH," EXPLAINED [XXX]. SUN VISOR HAS BROKEN AND DROPS DOWN TO BLOCK DRIVERS VIEW. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON BOTH SIDES, THOUGH NOT SIMULTANEOUSLY. VISOR MUST BE HELD IN OUT OF THE WAY POSITION UNTIL SOMETHING SUCH AS TAPE CAN BE FIXED TO HOLD IT UP. GIVEN THE SUDDENNESS OF THE INCIDENT, IT COULD CAUSE LOSS OF VIEW AT A CRITICAL TIME. *TR
VISOR ON DRIVERS SIDE FELL DOWN BLOCKING A FORWARD VIEW. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY CAR DROVE OVER A POT HOLE MOMENTS LATER THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO CONTROL THE CAR AND NEARLY RAN INTO A MEDIUM IN THE MIDDLE OF STREET. I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE "CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM" WARNING CAME ON SCREEN, ALONG WITH P/S, BRAKE, ABS. I WAS NOT ABLE TO PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE. TOW TRUCK CAME. THE TOW DRIVER WAS ABLE TO RELEASE THE CAR INTO DRIVE POSITION HOWEVER THE WHEELS WERE NOT TURNING. WHEN WE GOT TO THE DEALERSHIP HE HAD TO FORCE THE STEERING WHEELS TO MOVE THE CAR. DEALERSHIP SAYS A "FUSE" WENT OUT. THEY DETERMINED THAT THE FUSE GOING OUT WAS NOT AS A RESULT OF THE POT HOLE AND THEY ARE NOT SURE WHAT THE ISSUE IS. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS HAD MY CAR FOR 12 DAYS AND WAS NOT ABLE TO RECREATE "THE FUSE" TO GO OUT. *TR
THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING AND HAS BEEN FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS. WHEN I BROUGHT IT INTO DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID IT WAS BECAUSE OF SOME CLEANER THAT I USED. THEN I FOUND OUT THAT MANY 2007 CAMRY OWNERS ARE HAVING SAME PROBLEM AND TOYOTA REFUSES TO ADMIT THAT THEY HAVE A DEFECTED PRODUCT. I AM 62 YEARS OLD AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN TO ANOTHER VEHICLE - AND I'VE HAD OTHER TOYOTAS . WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL???????????????? THE DEALERSHIP TRY TO PASS IT OFF AS THE CONSUMERS' FAULT WHEN IT IS ACTUALLY TOYOTA'S. WHAT CAN I DO? *TR
CAR PURCHASED NEW ON 5/9/2007. ONLY 30,800 MILES & HAD THE OIL CHANGED. THE CAR WAS SQUEALING. MECH. DETERMINED THE LEFT REAR INSIDE BRAKE PAD WAS ALMOST GONE!! FRONT PADS/ROTORS FINE. THIS IS A CASE OF PREMATURE REAR BRAKE PAD WEAR THAT TOYOTA IS AWARE OF. THEY ISSUED A TSB. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL & ALL WORK DONE SHOULD BE COMPLETELY FREE OF CHARGE!! NOW I HAVE TO PAY $250.00 TO HAVE THE ENTIRE REAR BRAKE SYSTEM FIXED=2 ROTORS TURNED, 4 DISC BRAKE PADS, & LABOR. TOYOTA IS COMPLETELY AT FAULT. *JS

DRIVER'S SUNVISOR BROKE AND HUNG DOWN BLOCKING MY VISION WHILE DRIVING. I THINK THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. *TR
THE STEERING SHAFT MAKES A POPPING AND CLUNKING NOISE AT LOW SPEEDS. LOOSE STEERING PARTS ARE NEVER GOOD NEWS. *TR
MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY IS VERY STICKY AND MELTING. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY HAD ALOT OF COMPLAINTS BE THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALLED. IT IS A DANGER BECAUSE THEY GLARE ON THE GLARING REFLECTIONS MAKES IN IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND IT SHOULD BE REPLACED. *TR
MY TOYOTA CAMRY 2007 HAS DEFECTED THE VISOR WON'T STAY UP IF FLOPS DOWN AND IS DIFFICULT TO SEE TO DRIVE. IT CAN'T BE MOVED TO THE SIDE EITHER, AS IT IS BROKEN AT THE TOP. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN, A LOT OF TOYOTA OWNERS HAS THIS SAME PROBLEM. TOYOTA SHOULD BE HAS RECALL THIS DEFECTIVE PART REPLACEMENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE ABS AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE SPEEDOMETER READING ALSO DECREASED TO ZERO. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. WHILE DRIVING, THE SUN VISOR FELL TO THE DOWN POSITION AND REMAINED IN THAT POSITION, WHICH COMPLETELY BLOCKED THE DRIVER'S VISION OF THE ROAD AND TRAFFIC. THE VISOR WOULD NOT REMAIN IN THE UP POSITION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE NOTICED THAT THE EXHAUST TAIL PIPE WAS BLACK AND THE OIL WAS CONSUMED PREMATURELY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
I HAVE A 2007 CAMRY HYBRID. IN JULY OF 2012, THE BRAKE ACTUATOR BROKE IN MY CAR RESULTING IN DAMAGE TO MY CAR. THE BRAKES LOST "POWER" AND THEN WOULD GO IN AND OUT AT WILL. I THEN SPENT $1,200.00 ON A 3RD PARTY COMPANY TO REPLACE THIS PART, ONLY TO HAVE IT GO OUT AGAIN IN 6 MONTHS. THE BRAKES FUNCTION AT WILL, AND I HAVE BEEN QUOTED UPWARDS OF $3,000.00 BY TOYOTA TO FIX. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT TO HAVE THIS FIXED PROPERLY, IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED BY TOYOTA AS THEY HAVE SINCE FIXED THE PART IN QUESTION. I HAVE NEVER BEEN NOTIFIED OF A RECALL CONCERNING THIS ISSUE, AND TOYOTA IS VERY RELUCTANT TO DROP PRICE AT ALL TO HELP ME FIX, EVEN CONSIDERING THIS IS THE 2ND TIME TO FIX IT, LET ALONE PAY FOR THE DAMAGE TO MY CAR BECAUSE OF THIS PART. INSURANCE WOULD NOT FIX CAR BECAUSE THEY CONSIDERED DAMAGE WAS FROM A KNOWN ISSUE. I HAVE ALSO BEEN ADVISED NOT TO PURCHASE USED PARTS TO REPLACE AS THEY WILL ALSO FAIL, UNLESS I PAY $$$ TO TOYOTA FOR THERE CORRECTED PART TO FIX. AS OF TODAY MY BRAKES ARE STILL NOT FIXED, AND BURNING THOUGH BRAKE PADS IN LITTLE AS 2 MONTHS AS A CONSEQUENCE. *TR

THE SUN VISOR WAS OBSTRUCTING THE CONTACT'S VIEW OF THE ROADWAY. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE RADIATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE CONTACT WAS ALSO ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A BOLT THAT DETACHED AND BECAME LODGED INSIDE OF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE SUN VISOR ON THE DRIVER SIDE WON'T STAY UP IF FLOPS DOWN AND IS DIFFICULT TO SEE TO DRIVE. IT FLOPPED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND I HAD TO SLOW DOWN PUSH IT TO SIDE WAYS AND CONTINUE DRIVING AND LATER NEED TO REMOVE IT COMPLETELY TO CONTINUE DRIVING. THE PIECE THAT GOES INTO THE SUNVISOR ITSELF THAT HOLDS THE VISOR UP IS BROKEN. IT LOOKS TO HAVE COME OUT OF ITS "SLOT". THE METAL BRACKET WITHIN VISOR BROKE THE PLASTIC SLOT THAT HOLDS THE BRACKET. *TR
THE DASHBOARD OF MY CAR IS MELTING AND IS VERY STICKY AND PRODUCES A GLARE THAT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. *TR
THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR BROKE. THE ARM THAT GOES INTO THE SUN VISOR CAME OUT OF THE SUN VISOR. IT SEEMS THAT IT BROKE THE PLASTIC INSIDE THE VISOR THAT HOLDS IT IN PLACE. THIS CAUSED THE VISOR TO KEEP FALLING AND NOT STAY IN PLACE. IT CREATED A HAZARD SO I COMPLETELY REMOVED THE VISOR. THE TAB ON THE BAR THAT ALLOWS THE VISOR TO SNAP INTO PLACE HAS BECOME VERY STIFF TO WHERE IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO ROTATE AROUND. THE STIFFNESS OF THE ARM SEEMS TO BE WHAT PROBABLY BROKE THE PLASTIC. *TR
THE SUN VISOR ON THE DRIVER SIDE WILL NOT STAY UP. THIS IS A DRIVING HAZARD AS IT BLOCKS THE VIEW OF THE DRIVER. *JS
WHILE TRYING TO MAKE A TURN TO TAKE AN EXIT TO RAMP, I APPLIED BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN AND TAKE THE CURVE BUT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND WHILE CONTROLLING IT I PRESSED ON EMERGENCY BRAKES AND BROUGHT CAR TO SUDDEN STOP BUT ALSO HIT THE CURVE ON THE SIDE OF THE HWY. THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH TOYOTA AND HAD HAPPENED TWICE BEFORE. *TR

THE CHECK VSC SYSTEM DISPLAY CAME ON WITH ALL THE BRAKE LIGHTS. BASICALLY THE DASH BOARD LIGHTS UP AND WITH EVERY WARNING LIGHT. A MESSAGE ON YOUR DISPLAY SAYS "CHECK VSC SYSTEM". WHEN YOU LOOK IT UP IN YOUR MANUAL IT SAYS - CALL TOYOTA DEALER RIGHT AWAY. I WAS QUOTED AN ABS ACCUMULATOR REPLACEMENT AT THE COST OF $3K. THE CAR WAS UNDER 6 YEAR 75,000 EXTENDED WARRANTY SO EVERY SERVICE AND CHECK WAS PERFORMED. WHEN I REPORTED FLAKY BRAKE BEHAVIOR (PULSING AT A STANDSTILL AND WITH THE PULSATING NOISES - IT'S LIKE YOU ARE BRAKING WHEN YOU ARE IDLING) @ 78K TOYOTA SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH MY BRAKES. IF A DIAGNOSTIC CODE ISN'T APPEARING THEY CAN'T REALLY TELL YOU HAVE AN ISSUE. THE CAR WAS JUST OUT OF EXTENDED WARRANTY. FIRST THING I DID WAS CALL THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I WAS TOLD IT MIGHT JUST BE THE SENSORS AND I COULD STILL DRIVE IT. I DIDN'T LISTEN TO THEM AND I'M GLAD - SOMETHING JUST SEEMED VERY WRONG WITH THAT ADVICE - AFTER ALL THE BRAKES JUST SEEMED TO BE PULSING ALL THE TIME AND THE CAR DIDN'T BRAKE THE SAME WAY. PRESSING ON THE BRAKE WAS VERY DIFFICULT - THE BRAKES WERE BASICALLY OPERATING MANUALLY WITH NO POWER ASSIST. THERE WAS NO WAY I COULD EVER STOP QUICKLY WITH BRAKES IN THIS CONDITION. I WAS ALSO LEAKING BRAKE FLUID. WE SPOKE TO TOYOTA IN CALIFORNIA AND REPORTED THE PROBLEM. TOYOTA SAID THEY WOULDN'T COVER THE PART. THE DEALER SAID OTHERS HAD COME IN WITH THE SAME PROBLEM SO THEY KNEW IT EXISTED. WE HAD A LONG DISCUSSION WITH THE DEALER MANAGER. THE REAL PROBLEM IS AT THAT TIME - THE REPLACEMENT PART WAS THE SAME PART WE HAD - SO WE HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO TAKE THE SAME PART WITH THE SAME KNOWN PROBLEM. *TR

THE DEALER CONFIRMED A SHORTAGE IN THE DOOR PANEL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 88,500.

THE CONTACT ROLLED THE WINDOW BACK UP AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE CONTROL PANEL OF THE WINDOW. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY MANEUVER TO THE SHOULDER AND STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN SHUT OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY TWENTY MINUTES WHILE THE CONTACT WAITED FOR THE SMOKE TO STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE MASTER SWITCH FOR THE WINDOWS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,700 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 41,750.

THE TECHNICIANS HAD NOT PROVIDED A DIAGNOSTIC AND WERE INVESTIGATING THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THERE WAS AN INVESTIGATION UNDER NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: EA12006 (UNKNOWN OR OTHER ELECTRICAL SYSTEM STRUCTURE:BODY) THAT MAY BE RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR BROKE. THE VISOR WON'T STAY UP. IT FLOPS DOWN AND IS DIFFICULT TO SEE WHEN DRIVING. E.G. THE UPPER HALF OF MY VISIBILITY IS GONE. IT CAN'T BE MOVED TO THE SIDE EITHER, AS IT IS BROKEN AT THE TOP. AFTER 5 DAYS OF DRIVING WITH THE BROKEN SUN VISOR, I ALMOST HIT A PEDESTRIAN TODAY DUE TO THE LIMITED VISIBILITY. TOYOTA DEALER CHARGES $160 TOTAL TO REPLACE IT. I TAKE CARE OF MY CAR WELL. I READ COMPLAINTS ON INTERNET THAT THERE ARE MANY OTHER CAMRY OWNERS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. IT'S HIGHLY LIKELY THAT THIS IS A DEFECT. TOYOTA DEALER CHARGES $160 TOTAL TO REPLACE IT. *TT
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE THIS MORNING, MY DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR SUDDENLY FLOPPED DOWN INTO MY LINE OF SIGHT, CAUSING ME TO ALMOST HAVE AN ACCIDENT. IT WILL NOT STAY UP OR PUSHED BACK OUT OF THE WAY- IT FALLS TO THE LOWEST POINT, DIRECTLY BLOCKING MY VIEW OF THE TOP HALF OF THE WINDSHIELD. I TRIED MOVING IT TO THE SIDE, BUT IT BLOCKS MY VISION HERE. I HAVE NOT SEEN THE DEALER YET, BUT AFTER SEARCHING ONLINE FORMS I SEE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN TOYOTA'S THAT THEY ARE REFUSING TO ACKNOWLEDGE OR ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR. THERE ARE OVER 230 COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM ON THIS DATABASE FOR JUST THE 2007 CAMRY. FROM WHAT I'VE SEEN, TOYOTA THINKS IT IS NO BIG DEAL TO PAY $100-$200 TO REPLACE A PART THAT IS SHODDY BUILT. HOWEVER, THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD AND THE DEFECTIVE PART SHOULD BE RECALLED IN ALL MODELS IMMEDIATELY, REGARDLESS OF WARRANTY OR MILEAGE. IT OBVIOUSLY IS SOMETHING THEY HAVE KNOWN ABOUT FOR A LONG TIME BUT THEY CONTINUE TO IGNORE THE POTENTIAL SERIOUSNESS OF THIS MALFUNCTION. *JB
I STARTED MY CAR AND STARTED TO DRIVE DOWN THE STREET. I JUST STARTED WHEN SMOKE CAME FROM DASH AND LEFT DOOR AND FIRE STARTED IN THE LEFT DOOR. MY ARM WAS BURNED. MY EMPLOYER CHECKED INTERNET. MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. *TR
AS I PUT THE DRIVER'S SUN VISOR UP TO LEAVE A PARKING LOT, SOMETHING BROKE IN THE MECHANISM THAT HOLDS THE VISOR UP AND IT FLOPPED BACK DOWN. IT WON'T STAY UP AND IT WON'T STAY AGAINST THE WINDSHIELD -- IT JUST HANGS DOWN ABOVE THE STEERING WHEEL, LEAVING YOU WITH ABOUT 4-5 INCHES OF VISIBILITY OUT ONTO THE ROAD, EVEN LESS IF YOU'RE TALL. I FEEL VERY LUCKY THAT THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN AS I WAS DRIVING OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD AT 40 MILES AN HOUR! IT'S A VERY UNSAFE FEELING TO DRIVE STOOPED DOWN TO SEE THROUGH THE OPENING OR WITH ONE HAND HOLDING THE VISOR UP SO YOU CAN SEE AHEAD TO WHAT IS COMING UP IN FRONT OF YOU. SINCE THIS WILL PROBABLY HAPPEN TO MOST PEOPLE AFTER THE 3-YEAR WARRANTY RUNS OUT AND MANY PEOPLE WON'T BE ABLE TO AFFORD THE REPAIR, IT'S A REAL SAFETY ISSUE. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY WHEN THERE ARE SO MANY AFFECTED VEHICLES, A RECALL IS NOT DONE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STARTED THE VEHICLE, ACTIVATED THE AIR CONDITIONER AND SMOKE EMITTED FROM THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR MODULE. A SMALL FIRE THEN ERUPTED. THE CONTACT TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THE SMOKE AND FIRE CEASED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE DOOR MODULE AND FOUND THAT THE WINDOW POWER SWITCH WAS MELTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A MECHANIC OR DEALER FOR INSPECTION OR REPAIR. THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,800.
A FEW MONTHS BEFORE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, I STARTED TO NOTICE SOME UNUSUAL NOISE FROM A PART UNDER THE HOOD AT THE FAR RIGHT SIDE, BEHIND THE HEAD LIGHT. IN THE BEGINNING IT JUST HUMMED VERY LOUD WHEN I STOPPED THE CAR. THEN IT BECAME WORSE, I COULD HEAR THE NOISE EVEN DURING DRIVING. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THIS WAS NORMAL FOR HYBRID CAR. I DIDN'T BELIEVE THEM BUT COULDN'T ARGUE WITH THEM BECAUSE I KNOW VERY LITTLE ABOUT CARS. THEN ONE DAY IN EARLY JUNE OF 2012 THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE BRAKE BECAME SOFT. SO I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THIS TIME I WAS TOLD THAT A PART CALLED AN ACTUATOR NEEDS REPLACEMENT. THE COST WOULD BE OVER $3000. I WAS TOTALLY SHOCKED AND COULDN'T BELIEVE THAT A CAR WITH LESS THAN 70K ON IT AND JUST OUT OF THE WARRANTY WOULD HAVE THIS KIND OF PROBLEM. AFTER SOME NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE DEALERSHIP THEY AGREED TO CHARGE ME ABOUT HALF OF THE PRICE. TOYOTA HAD A REPUTATION FOR RELIABILITY AND IT WAS THE REASON THAT I BOUGHT THE HYBRID CAR. JUST A FEW MONTHS AGO, IN OCTOBER 2011 THE WATER PUMP WAS ALSO BROKEN, WHICH COST ME ABOUT $200 AFTER SOME HAGGLING ABOUT THEIR WARRANTY. OBVIOUSLY THE ACTUATOR FAILURE IS A MORE SERIOUS PROBLEM AND I'VE LEARNED FROM OTHER CUSTOMERS THAT THEY HAVE HAD EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEMS (WATER PUMP AND ACTUATOR) AROUND THE SAME MILEAGE RANGE. SO THIS IS CLEARLY A COMMON PROBLEM. I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT IN JOINING OTHERS TO FORCE TOYOTA TO ADDRESS THESE PROBLEMS. *TR
I TOOK MY 2007 CAMRY LE (~30K MILEAGE) IN FOR 5K MILE SERVICE (VIA MY TOYOTA PREPAID MAINTENANCE CONTRACT 4 YR/55K.) & TECHNICIAN FOUND A LEAKING FRONT STRUT. I WAS TOLD THAT I'LL HAVE TO REPLACE THE STRUT & DO THE ALIGNMENT FOR ~$1100 FROM MY OWN POCKET. HE MENTIONED THAT THE STRUTS IS HEAVILY LEAKING. WHEN I ASKED HIM, HOW IT HAPPENED, HE SAID THAT IT DIDN'T HAPPEN OVERNIGHT & HAPPENS GRADUALLY. SINCE IT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY ANYMORE (TOYOTA NEVER TOLD ME ABOUT THIS LEAK ON PURPOSE, WHEN IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY), THE GUY SAID THAT I'LL HAVE TO PAY FOR ALL EXPENSES. TOYOTA IS A FRAUD COMPANY & SHOULD PAY FOR ALL THESE DAMAGES FOR HIDING THE TRUTH FROM CUSTOMERS SO THAT THEY'LL WAIT UNTIL THE WARRANTY IS OVER & THEN THEY'LL TRY TO RIP OFF THE CUSTOMER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,101.

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

WITH THE 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY, I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND HAVE NO COMPLAINTS UP TO THIS POINT. EACH RECALL OR ISSUE UNDER WARRANTY WAS HANDLED AS EXPECTED. WHEN I WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR WAS DOWN 2 QUARTS AT AN OIL CHANGE, I WAS SHOCKED AS I HAD NOT SEEN THE CAR LEAVING OIL MARKS. THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN LEAKING OIL, BURNING OIL RATHER. I HAVE HAD TO CHECK THE OIL WEEKLY FOR THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS AND HAVE HAD TO ADD AT LEAST A QUART A WEEK. THE CAR IS "PUFFING" WHITE SMOKE WHEN TURNED ON AND WHILE DRIVING. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO THE TOYOTA DEALER, I WAS TOLD I NEED AN ENGINE REBUILD, NEW PISTONS, RINGS, ETC AND THE COST WOULD BE $2850. AFTER A TOTAL OF 3 MECHANICAL OPINIONS, I WAS TOLD THAT THIS MAY OR MAY NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I WAS GUARANTEED A ONE YEAR/12000 MILE WARRANTY FROM THE DEALER AND THAT THIS MAY HAPPEN AGAIN OR OTHER PARTS OF THE ENGINE NOT FIXED MAY FAIL. I AM CONCERNED THAT TOYOTA IS SUPPOSEDLY AMERICA'S MOST RELIABLE CAR BRAND AND THAT THE ENGINE HAS FAILED AT THIS FEW MILES. AFTER REVIEWING AND RESEARCH, I SEE THAT MANY OTHER OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS ARE HAPPENING TO TOYOTA OWNERS. PLEASE HELP! *TR
WHEN TOGGLED, PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW OPENS WITH A BANG. NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES THE WINDOW IS RAISED OR LOWERED SUBSEQUENTLY, THIS NOISE WILL NOT REOCCUR AGAIN UNTIL APPROXIMATELY 24 HOURS LATER. *TR
THE DASHBOARD HAS BECOME STICKY AND GLOSSY, WHICH PUTS A GLARE ONTO THE WINDSHIELD. THIS MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE ON A SUNNY DAY. PART OF DASHBOARD CAME OFF WHEN A BUG GOT STUCK TO THE DASHBOARD AND WAS REMOVED WHILE CLEANING VEHICLE. SAW MANY REPORTS OF THIS AND TALK OF A RECALL, BUT NO RECALLS SHOW UP WHEN I ENTER MY INFORMATION ON THE CAR.
ONGOING ISSUE THE CAR BURNS OIL LIKE CRAZY. I HAVE TO ADD OIL BEFORE MY NEXT OIL CHANGE IS SCHEDULED (EVERY 3000 MILES). THERE IS BLACK SOOT BUILDUP IN THE GAS TANK DOOR AROUND THE CAP. IT HAS BEEN LIKE THIS AWHILE, JUST NEVER THOUGHT ANYTHING OF IT UNTIL I MET A FELLOW CAMRY OWNER WHO'S 2009 CAMRY WAS RECALLED FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE BUT MINE DOES NOT HAVE THE RECALL. THE BLACK SOOT HAS BEEN THERE BASICALLY FROM THE VERY BEGINNING (2007), IT STARTED NOTICEABLY BURNING OIL AT ABOUT 130000 MILES, THE CAR IS NOW AT ABOUT 163000

I WAS SO SCARY, THEN I PARKED MY CAR ON THE STREETSIDE AND I CALLED PUENTE HILLS TOYOTA FOR HELP (BECAUSE I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM THEM,) I SPOKE TO MANAGER[XXX] REGARDING THE INCIDENT BUT THEY SAID THEY CAN DO NOTHING, THE SERVICE DEPT WAS CLOSED DUE TO THE HOLIDAY AND THEY NEVER HEARD ABOUT 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY DOOR FIRES BUT I TOLD THEM ABOUT COMPLAINTS FILED ON THE NHTSA ACCORDING TO LA TIMES AND MANY OTHER MEDIA . TOYOTA HAS RESPONSIBILITY TO TAKE CARE OF MY CAR WITHOUT ANY CHARGES DUE TO THE DEFECT. MY POWER WINDOW SWITCH WAS DAMAGED.
