THE SUNVISOR OF MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY BROKE. ONE DAY I PULL IT DOWN TO PROTECT ME FROM THE SUN, AND COULD NEVER PUT IT BACK UP. HAVING THE SUNVISOR DOWN WAS A HAZARD, EITHER I HAD TO DRIVE WITH ONE HAND HOLDING THE VISOR UP AND THE OTHER IN THE WHEEL OR I HAD TO DRIVE WITH THE VISOR IN MY SIGHT AND MINIMUM VISIBILITY FOR COMING TRAFFIC. MY HUSBAND TRIED TO TAPE IT, BUT THAT DIDN'T WORK. WE ARE NOT HANDY PEOPLE TO TRY TO FIX IT, BUT ONE DAY I GOT HOME HYSTERICAL DRIVING WITH THE SUNVISOR DOWN, THAT MY HUSBAND BASICALLY PULLED IT OUT. I HAVEN'T CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, AS THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN HELPFUL WITH ANY OF MY COMPLAINTS. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY LXE. A DRIVER DECIDED TO MOVE INTO MY LANE FROM THE LEFT, TO AVOID A SERIOUS COLLISION I HAD TO SWERVE TO THE RIGHT AND HIT THE BRAKES. MY ANTI-LOCK BRAKES LOCKED AND I HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE CAR AS WE SKIDDED ACROSS FOUR LANES AND HIT A CONCRETE WALL. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELTS (WHICH WERE IN USE) DID NOT LOCK US IN. MY WIFE HIT THE INSIDE CEILING AND THE RIGHT WINDOW OF THE FRONT DOOR. I TRIED TO FIND AN ATTORNEY TO GO AFTER TOYOTA BUT COULD NOT FIND ONE WHO HAD THE GUTS TO STAND UP TO TOYOTA. THERE WAS OVER $14,500 IN REPAIRS AND AS OF TODAY THEY ARE STILL PUTTING THE CAR BACK TOGETHER AGAIN. *KB
THE PASSENGER SUN VISOR DOES NOT WORK.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR IS BROKEN WHERE IT CONNECTS TO THE ARM/BRACKET. IT DOESN'T WANT TO STAY UP. EITHER WAY I TRY TO PUSH IT (BACKWARDS OR UPWARD), IT FALLS BACK DOWN. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT IS DIFFICULT TO DRIVE NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE RED LIGHTS UNLESS YOU STRAIN TO PEER UNDERNEATH THE VISOR. PLEASE HELP!
DASHBOARD STARTED IN 2011 TO MELT. HAS A SHINY STICKINESS TO IT. WHEN DRIVING THEIR IS A GLARE ON THE WINDOW CAUSING IT HARD TO SEE WHEN DRIVING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THE SUN VISOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE CONTINUED TO FALL AND BLOCKS HIS VIEW. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO REPAIR THE SUN VISOR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 88,000.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR BROKE. IT FLOPPED DOWN AND WOULD NOT STAY OUT OF THE WAY OF THE DRIVERS' VISION. IT WAS DANGEROUS TO THE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE. IT HAD TO BE COMPLETELY REMOVED. THE CAR WAS LESS THAN 4 YEARS OLD AND ALTHOUGH IT SEEMS TO BE FAULTY WORKMANSHIP THE VISOR IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY SUN VISOR IS FAULTY. I PULLED IT DOWN TO TAKE A QUICK GLANCE IN THE MIRROR AND IT FLOPPED DOWN, AND NOW IT DOESN'T STAY UP. IT'S FAIRLY DANGEROUS DRIVING WITH IT HANGING, SO I'VE TAKEN IT OFF. TOYOTA IS CHARGING $135 TO REPLACE IT. I STARTED DOING RESEARCH AND THERE ARE THOUSAND OF PEOPLE WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM FOR 07 TOYOTA CAMRY. AN INVESTIGATION FOR A RECALL SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO. *TR
2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID. THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR WOULD NOT REMAIN IN AN UPRIGHT POSITION AND OBSTRUCTED MY FIELD OF VISION. AFTER ABOUT A WEEK OF THE FLOPPINESS, THE VISOR SNAPPED OFF OF THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE AND HIT ME IN THE HEAD. IT WAS QUITE PAINFUL, BUT I DID NOT SEEK MEDICAL TREATMENT. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 59,000. *TR
MY WIFE HAD BACKED HER 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY OUT OF OUR GARAGE ONTO THE DRIVEWAY TO WASH THE CAR. THE DRIVEWAY IS ON A MEDIUM INCLINE. SHE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF CLEANING THE INSIDE OF THE CAR ALONG WITH OUR GRANDDAUGHTER. THE CAR WAS IN PARK AND THE IGNITION KEY IN HER POCKET. AFTER CLEANING THE INSIDE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT WITH OUR GRANDDAUGHTER IN THE DRIVER SIDE SHE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF WALKING AROUND THE FRONT OF THE CAR IN ORDER TO CLEAN THE DRIVER COMPARTMENT WHEN OUR GRANDDAUGHTER WAS MOVING TO THE PASSENGER SIDE SHE HIT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTER IT CAME OUT OF PARK AND ROLLED ACROSS THE ALLY INTO THE NEIGHBORS BACK FENCE. MY WIFE GOT INTO THE CAR AND DROVE TO THE FRONT OF THE HOUSE PUT THE CAR IN PARK, REMOVED THE KEY AND WAS ABLE TO TAKE THE CAR OUT OF PARK WITHOUT HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THE KEY REMOVED. WE TOOK THE CAR TO TOYOTA DEALER. THE NEXT DAY WE PICKED THE CAR UP FROM THE DEALER AND WERE TOLD THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY TOLD US TO TAKE THE CAR AND IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN LEAVE THE CAR AS IS WITH THE CAR OUT OF GEAR, CALL THEM AND THEY WOULD SEND A TOW TRUCK. THE NEXT DAY MY WIFE DROVE THE CAR TO THE SHOPPING MALL. WHEN SHE RETURNED THE CAR SHE WAS ABLE TO TAKE THE CAR OUT OF PARK WITH THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. SHE WAS UNABLE TO GET THE SERVICE REP ON THE PHONE SO SHE DROVE HOME AND PARKED THE CAR IN THE GARAGE. APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES LATER WE ALL WENT OUT TO THE CAR AND HAD HER SON TRY TO TAKE THE CAR OUT OF PARK WITHOUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION WHICH HE DID. THERE WAS NO RESISTANCE IN THE SHIFTER WHEN REMOVING FROM PARK AND COULD FREELY MOVE THE SHIFTER. WE LEFT THE SHIFTER IN THE DRIVE POSITION AND CALLED THE DEALER WHO SENT A TOW TRUCK AND HAD THE DRIVE VERIFY THE CAR COULD BE SHIFTED WITH THE KEY OUT. THE REP CALLED AND SAID THE COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. WE HAVE BEEN TRYING TO TELL THEM ALL THE HAVE TO DO IS DRIVE THE CAR FOR 15 MIN, WAIT 15 MIN THEN MOVE OUT OF PARK. THE REP IS NOT COOPERATING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THE DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISOR WAS BROKEN MAKING IT DIFFICULT FOR THE SUN VISOR TO STAY IN THE UP POSITION. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR MANUFACTURER WERE CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,500.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE ONLY THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH THE SPEEDOMETER, AIR CONDITIONER, AND THE BRAKES ALL MALFUNCTIONED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. HE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A SECOND DEALER WHO STATED THE BRAKE ACTUATOR HAD MALFUNCTIONED AND CAUSED OTHER ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS TO FAIL. THE CONTACT STATED THIS WAS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED A CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000.

SHE ATTEMPTED TO FLIP THE SUN VISOR BACK INTO THE UPWARDS POSITION, BUT THE VISOR WOULD NOT HOLD IN PLACE. AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR UNEXPECTEDLY RELEASED DOWNWARD AND FAILED TO REMAIN SECURE IN AN UPWARD POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE SUN VISOR ASSEMBLY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE CONTACT SWIFTLY SHIFTED BACK TO DRIVE AND WHILE MOVING FROM THE ROADWAY. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 72,000. UPDATED 07/28/11*LJ SMOKE EMITTED FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND THEY OFFERED NO REPAIRS, ONLY A NEW TRANSMISSION AT A COST OF $4500. THE CONSUMER THEN HAD IT TOWED TO AAMCO AT A COST NOT TO EXCEED $3500. THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR HAS SUDDENLY STOPPED STAYING IN PLACE. IT WILL NOT LIE FLUSH WITH THE ROOF OF THE CAR, NOR WILL IT STAY PUSHED AGAINST THE WINDSHIELD. IT IS A VISIBILITY HAZARD. THE LIGHT IS ALSO NO LONGER FUNCTIONING. THIS IS NOT DUE TO ANY UNUSUAL USE: I PUSHED IT UP, IT FLOPPED HALFWAY DOWN AND NOW IT STAYS THERE, BLOCKING MY VIEW OF THE ROAD. AS I SEARCHED ONLINE FOR REPAIR SUGGESTIONS, I SAW THAT A GREAT NUMBER OF CAMRY OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE, LEADING ME TO BELIEVE THIS IS A FACTORY DEFECT. *TR
THE OIL LIGHT ON MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY COMES ON BEFORE THE REQUIRED OIL CHANGE IS DUE. WHEN I TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SAY IT IS LOW ON OIL & IT IS NORMAL TO BURN ABOUT A QUART OF OIL FOR EVERY 700 - 1000 MILES & I NEED TO CHECK IT BETWEEN OIL CHANGES AND PROBABLY ADD ADDITIONAL OIL. THERE IS NOT AN OIL LEAK AND SEVERAL OTHER 2007 CAMRY OWNERS HAVE REPORTED THE SAME ISSUE AND RESPONSE. ADDITIONALLY, I OWN A 1998 CAMRY AND IT HAS NEVER BEEN LOW ON OIL. *TR

I RECEIVED A WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT NOTIFICATION - ZE6 FROM TOYOTA MOTOR SALES REGARDING THIS ISSUE EARLIER THIS YEAR APRIL 2015. I'VE CALL THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR ORIGINALLY AND INQUIRE ABOUT THIS RECALL NOTICE & WAS TOLD THAT THE DASHBOARD WOULD BE ORDERED & ONCE IT CAME IN I WOULD BE CONTACTED, I NEVER HEARD BACK FROM THEM, SO I CALLED AGAIN RECENTLY AND EXPRESS MY SAFETY CONCERNS WHILE DRIVING ON A SUNNY DAY WITH GLARE COMING OFF THE DASHBOARD ONTO THE WINDSHIELD, THE GLARE IS VERY BLINDING IF NOT WEARING SUNGLASSES. I WAS ONCE AGAIN TOLD BY THE SERVICE REP AT THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP THAT THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO UNTIL THEY RECEIVE THE PARTS FROM THE MANUFACTURE & THAT AT THIS TIME THERE'S NO TIME FRAME FOR CORRECTING THIS ISSUE. I HAVE READ SEVERAL POSTS REGARDING THIS VERY SAME ISSUE AND NOTICE THAT NO ONE HAS HAD THIS ISSUE CORRECTED BY TOYOTA FOR FREE, OBVIOUSLY THIS IS A VEHICLE MANUFACTURE DEFECT THAT TOYOTA NEEDS TO DEAL WITH BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. I PURCHASED A TOYOTA VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE REPUTATION ON QUALITY & CUSTOMER SERVICE, BUT UNTIL NOW I'VE NOT SEEN EITHER OF THESE. TOYOTA NEEDS TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT & MAKE IT RIGHT FOR ALL AFFECTED CONSUMERS.

THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE SUN VISOR WAS FAULTY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 70,000. UPDATED 07/25/11

THE SUN VISOR OBSTRUCTED THE VISIBILITY OF THE DRIVER AND WAS COMPLETELY DETACHED. THE CONTACT PLANNED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE DEFECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
2007 TOYOTA CAMRY DRIVER'S SIDE SUNVISOR FALLS DOWN IN FRONT OF DRIVER, WILL NOT STAY IN UP POSITION, THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAS BROKEN, CAR IS 4 YEARS OLD WITH ABOUT 50K MILES? THIS IS A $100+ PART, IT SHOULD FAIL SO QUICKLY. *TR

CONSUMER STATES VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED THROUGH A FENCE. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED HIS WIFE WAS SLOWLY TURNING INTO A DRIVEWAY, WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED TO ABOUT 60 MPH. THE VEHICLE FINALLY STOPPED ON AN EMBANKMENT IN THE BACKYARD. THE CONSUMER STATED THE RECALLS THAT WERE DONE ON THE VEHICLE, DIDN'T RESOLVE THE ACCELERATION PROBLEM. *JB
HIGH-INTENSITY DISCHARGE (HID) HEADLIGHTS WORK INTERMITTENTLY. TURNING THEM OFF AND BACK ON TEMPORARILY ''FIXES'' THE PROBLEM, BUT ONE OR THE OTHER WILL GO OUT AGAIN AFTER DRIVING MORE THAN A FEW MINUTES. OCCASIONALLY BOTH GO OUT DURING THE SAME TRIP WHICH CAN BE A BIT OF A SHOCK WHEN IT IS DARK AND THE ROAD CURVES. ONLINE RESEARCH SEEMS TO INDICATE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON SOLARA & PRIUS. REPLACEMENT BULBS ARE EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE AND MANY CUSTOMERS STATE THEY DON'T ALWAYS FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR

THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO REPLACE THE SUN VISOR AT HER EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. MY CAMRY HAS EXCESSIVE OIL USAGE. IT USES ABOUT 1 QT EVERY 600 MILES. THE PROBLEM STARTED AT APPROX 61000 MILES. CAR CURRENTLY HAS 96,000 MILES ON IT AND I PUT A QUART OF OIL IN FOR EVERY 2 TANKS OF GAS. I SEE THAT TOYOTA ISSUED A TSB FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT WILL ONLY FIX IT UNDER WARRANTY. THEY ARE REPLACING THE PISTONS AND RINGS WITH A NEW DESIGN BECAUSE THE OLD DESIGN IS A FAILURE. IT IS AN ENGINEERING/DESIGN DEFECT AND SHOULD BE FIXED UNDER A RECALL. *KB
MY SUN VISOR WON'T STAY UP. IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND IS DIFFICULT TO SEE WHILE DRIVING AND HANGING DOWN IN MY FACE. THIS IS THE SECOND SUN VISOR THAT I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE, AT MY EXPENSE $130!! I AM REALLY UPSET THAT TOYOTA EXPECTS US TO REPLACE THESE, WHEN IT IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND IS AFFECTING THIS MANY PEOPLE. I AM A TOYOTA CAMRY DIE HARD. PLEASE DO SOMETHING. IF SOMETHING IS NOT DONE, I WILL NOT EVER BUY ANOTHER TOYOTA. *JS
THE DASHBOARD OF MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID IS MELTING!! THE MELTING IS CREATING A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD MAKING IT VERY HARD TO SEE AT TIMES. A SIMPLE INTERNET SEARCH WILL YIELD YOU 100'S OF RESULTS OF THE SAME COMPLAINT FOR THIS MAKE/MODEL. TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AS THEY HAVE CHANGED THE MATERIAL USED ON THE DASH. MY INQUIRIES TO TOYOTA CORP AND THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE ARE NOT BEING TAKEN SERIOUSLY AND I REALLY FEAR THAT THE VISIBILITY ISSUES CAN RESULT IN DEATH OR ACCIDENTS. CURRENTLY, THERE IS A CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT FOR THEIR SISTER COMPANY, LEXUS, REGARDING THE RECALLING OF THEIR DASHBOARDS USING THE SAME EXACT MATERIAL. IT IS UNFAIR THAT TOYOTA CORP IS ONLY ADDRESSING THE NEEDS OF THEIR LUXURY MODEL CAR OWNERS AND CREATING AN ENVIRONMENT THAT IS UNSAFE FOR ME AND MY CHILDREN. APRIL AT TOYOTA CORP TOLD ME TODAY THAT IT'S NOT A CRAFTMANSHIP ISSUE- IT'S THE CLIMATE IN WHICH I LIVE. THE NEGLIGENCE IN THIS MATTER IS SO APPARENT AND I AM DISAPPOINTED THAT THEY ARE ALLOWED TO GET AWAY WITH THIS. THIS IS MY SECOND TIME DEALING WITH TOYOTA CORP ON THIS ISSUE. THE PREVIOUS TIME WAS IN SEPTEMBER OF LAST YEAR. *TR
SEAT BELT SAFETY LIGHT CAME ON AND NEVER GOES OFF. MY MECHANIC TOLD ME IT WOULD COST ME THOUSAND OF DOLLARS TO FIX. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR A SAFETY FEATURE. ALSO MY BRAKING SYSTEM HAD A LEAK AT JUST OVER 35000 MILES THAT COST ME 1300.00 AND IT WAS NEVER ON THE RECALL LIST.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE SUN SHINED THROUGH THE FRONT WINDSHIELD ONTO THE DASHBOARD, SHE WAS BLINDED BY THE GLARE FROM THE DASHBOARD. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V689000 (VISIBILITY) HOWEVER, THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT FOR TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
WHILE DRIVING THE DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISOR LOCKING MECHANISM FAILED AND THE SUN VISOR DROPPED DOWN BLOCKING THE DRIVERS VIEW. COULD NOT GET IT TO STAY UP SO I HAD TO REMOVE IT. *TR
I WAS PARKING MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY BEHIND A JEEP WAGONEER THAT WAS HEADED FORWARD IN A PARKING LOT. I WAS ALMOST AT THE STOPPING POINT WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND WITHIN A FOOT OR SO OF STOPPING, WHEN MY CAR SUDDENLY LURCHED FORWARD WITH EXTREME FORCE, PUSHING THE JEEP WAGONEER ABOUT 8-10 FEET FORWARD. MY CAR CONTINUED ACCELERATING AND THE PASSENGER SIDE OF MY CAR SEVERELY CRASHED AGAINST THE SIDE OF THE SUV THAT WAS PARKED NEXT TO THE JEEP WAGONEER. MY CAR FINALLY CAME TO REST. MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY WAS PART OF THE RECALL IN 2010 AND I HAD MY CAR IN FOR THE RECALL REPAIR IN FEB. 2010. PRIOR TO HEARING ANYTHING ABOUT TOYOTA'S SUDDEN ACCELERATION PROBLEMS, I HAD A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE WITH THE SAME VEHICLE AROUND MID-2009 (UNCERTAIN OF DATE). AT THAT TIME, I WAS AGAIN TURNING SLOWLY INTO A PARKING SPACE AND ALMOST AT THE STOPPING POSITION WHEN THE CAR ROARED FORWARD, JUMPING THE CURB OF THE PARKING LOT AND GOING TOWARDS THE RIGHT ON A GRASSY KNOLL. THERE WERE NO INJURIES NOR ANY CAR DAMAGE, SO I DID NOT REPORT IT AND DID NOT UNDERSTAND THE CAUSE OF THE INCIDENT UNTIL I BEGAN LEARNING OF TOYOTA'S SUDDEN ACCELERATION PROBLEMS. *TR
1.) MY DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR CAME LOOSE AND I TOOK IT TO GET IT REPAIRED. THEY PUT THE VISOR BACK, BUT, THE LIGHTS NEVER WORKED. FEW MONTHS AFTER IT CAME LOOSE AND KEPT BLOCKING MY VIEW, AND I KEPT GETTING HITTING ON MY HEAD WHILE GETTING IN THE CAR. THIS WEEK IT COMPLETELY CAME OFF (FELL) AND NOW I AM BEING BURNT IN THE SUN, SINCE THERE'S ABSOLUTELY NO PROTECTION. I WANT MY VISOR TO BE REPLACED BY TOYOTA, BECAUSE MY CARE WAS NOT THAT OLD WHEN IT FIRST CAME LOOSE. 2.) MY CAR DOES NOT PICKUP SPEED IF THE AC OR HEATING IS ON. I HAVE ASKED THE DEALER TO CHECK AND HE SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. SOMETIMES IT FEELS LIKE, I AM PUMPING GAS, BUT, THE CAR IS GOING NOWHERE. IT STALLS FOR FEW SECONDS AND SOMETIMES, IT JUST FEELS AS IF I AM LOSING CONTROL, AS IF THE CAR IS RUNNING ON IT'S OWN, W/O ME PUMPING GAS, IT PICKS UP SPEED. PS: I AM NEVER BUYING ANOTHER TOYOTA. *TR
AFTER A SHORT WHILE OF NOTICING A STRANGE CLICKING SOUND WHEN PLACING THE DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR INTO AN UP, LOCKED POSITION, THE VISOR CEASED TO LOCK. WHEN THIS HAPPENED, I COULD FEEL THE BROKEN PIECE AND IT CREATED A "BUMP" UNDERNEATH THE VISOR MATERIAL COVERING. EVENTUALLY, IT CREATED ENOUGH TENSION ON THE VISOR MATERIAL THAT THE MATERIAL PULLED AWAY FROM THE VANITY MIRROR EXPOSING SOME OF THE PLASTIC UNDERNEATH. THE VISOR WILL NOT SIT IN ITS UPRIGHT POSITION OR STAY FORWARD TOWARD THE WINDSHIELD, BUT RATHER HANGS DIRECTLY IN THE VIEW OF THE DRIVER. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SIGNIFICANTLY IMPAIRS THE DRIVER'S VIEW. ANOTHER DRIVER ENTERING MY CAR REFUSED TO DRIVE BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH THE VISIBILITY. CURRENTLY, I HAVE THE VISOR TAPED TO THE ROOF; HOWEVER, THIS IS SIMPLY UNACCEPTABLE FOR A 4 YEAR OLD CAR (2007 CAMRY). NEVER HAVE I HAD ISSUE WITH A SUN VISOR, NOR AM I "ROUGH" ON MY CAR (I DRIVE A LOT, BUT MY CAR IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION INSIDE AND OUTSIDE). I WAS AMONG THE PEOPLE AFFECTED BY THE OIL LINE LEAK, HAVING MY CAR BREAK DOWN WHILE DRIVING WITH MY 8-MONTH PREGNANT SISTER IN THE CAR. (THIS WAS PRIOR TO THE RECALL.) TOYOTA HAS BECOME A NEGLIGENT COMPANY AND IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE US GOVERNMENT AND NHTSA (AMONG OTHER GROUPS) TO PROTECT THE CONSUMERS FROM FRAUD LIKE THIS. BASED ON THESE ORGANIZATIONS RATINGS AND EVALUATIONS, I BOUGHT MY 07 CAMRY THINKING I WAS GETTING A QUALITY, DEPENDABLE, SAFE CAR. INSTEAD, I HAVE HAD ISSUE AFTER ISSUE WITH NO ASSISTANCE FROM THE SAME ORGANIZATIONS WHO CLAIMED TOYOTA'S SUPERIORITY; NOT EVEN TOYOTA WANTS TO BACK UP ITS WORK! I SINCERELY HOPE THE POWERS THAT BE MAKE THIS VISOR ISSUE A RECALL AND TOYOTA IS HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE PRODUCTS IT SELLS. IN APRIL 2011, THE DRIVER'S SUN VISOR ON MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY FELL DOWN ALL BY ITSELF. IT WAS TAPED TO THE ROOF OF THE CAR SINCE GETTING INTO THE SHOP WAS NOT AN OPTION AT THAT TIME. A FEW WEEKS LATER, THE PASSENGER'S SUN VISOR FELL DOWN ALL BY ITSELF (IT TOO WAS TAPED TO THE ROOF OF THE CAR). THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP THAT WE HAVE OUR MECHANIC WORK DONE AT AND THE SERVICE PERSON SAID THAT WE SHOULD CALL TOYOTA'S HOME OFFICE. THIS SAFETY ISSUE WAS REPORTED TO THE TOYOTA HOME OFFICE (CASE # WAS ASSIGNED) BUT THEY SEEMED UNCONCERNED ABOUT THE ISSUE. I EVEN MENTIONED TO THEM THAT CHECKS ON THE INTERNET REVEALED NUMEROUS PEOPLE REPORTING THIS SAME ISSUE. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY CONCERN AS VISIBILITY PROBLEMS EXIST WHEN THESE VISORS FALL DOWN. *TR
THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP, THE DRIVER CAN BECOME BLINDED WHEN THE VISOR BECOMES LOOSE AND IT CANNOT BE PUSHED BACK UP TO LIE FLUSH WITH THE ROOF. IT ALSO CANNOT BE MOVED TO THE SIDE.
2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. CAR DEVELOPED INSTABILITY WOULD SUDDENLY VEER FROM LANE TO LANE AND FISHTAIL. FOUND LEFT REAR SUSPENSION LOWER ARM TO HAVE NUT FALLEN OFF AND BOLT 80% BACKED OUT. THIS IS THE BOLT THAT FASTENS UPRIGHT HUB CARRIER TO SUSPENSION. PHOTOS TAKEN. BOLT REMOVED FOR INSPECTION OF DAMAGE, REINSTALLED AND NEW NUT PLACED ON SUSPENSION. THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR OF MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID SUDDENLY BROKE CAUSING IT TO SWING DOWN AND COMPLETELY BLOCK MY VISION. ATTEMPTS TO SWING THE VISOR OUT OF THE WAY FAILED AS THE VISOR IS COMPLETELY LOOSE AND SWINGS WILDLY WHEN TURNING. I HAVE TRIED USING TAPE TO SECURE THE VISOR IN THE UP POSITION, BUT EVENTUALLY THE TAPE FAILS. ADDITIONALLY THERE ARE NO DIRECTIONS OR EASILY DETECTABLE WAY TO REMOVE THE VISOR. AFTER CALLING TOYOTA I WAS INFORMED IT WOULD COST $308.70 TO REPLACE A PART THAT SHOULD NEVER HAVE FAILED (ESPECIALLY WITH ONLY 4 YEARS OF USE). I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE THAT NUMEROUS TOYOTA OWNERS ARE HAVING AND WANTED TO DOCUMENT MY TROUBLES. *TR

DEALER ADVISED 05/31/2011 DRIVEABILITY; CUSTOMER STATES THAT OIL LIGHT CAME ON DASH ABOUT 500 MILES AGO ADDED 1 QUART OF OIL SAW A CLOUD OF SMOKE FROM EXHAUST ..NOTE ADVISED CUSTOMER THAT TECH DID FIND OIL LOW PERFORMED OIL CHANGE AND MARKED DIP STICK ADDED DYE TO OIL ADVISED CUSTOMER TO RETURN WITH IN 500 MILES TO SEE IF ANY DYE RESIDUE COMING FROM TAIL PIPE E. RETURNED CAR TO DEALER @ ABOUT 700 MILES AND DEALER ADVISED 06/30/2011 ENGINE MINOR. CUSTOMER STATES THAT ENGINE WAS BURNING OIL WE TOPPED OFF OIL AND ADDED DYE CHECK AND ADVISE, AS PERTOM SINICA THAT AS PER TOYOTA SPEC IS EVERY CAR IS ALLOWED TO USE 1QT OF OIL IN 1200 MILES. I CALLED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS GIVEN A CASE #, TOYOTA SENT CASE BACK TO DEALER, DEALER CALLED ME TO TELL ME THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE CAR IS RUNNING WITHIN SPECS. TOYOTA IN MY OPINION IS HIDING BEHIND THEIR 2007 CAMRY OWNERS MANUAL IN WHICH THEY TOLD ME TO CHECK. I READ THE OIL CONSUMPTION PAGE (PG 291) OF THE MANUAL AND IT ALSO STATES" A NEW ENGINE CONSUMES MORE OIL, SINCE ITS PISTONS, PISTON RINGS AND CYLINDER WALLS HAVE NOT BECOME CONDITIONED". TO ME THAT SAYS THERE IS A PROBLEM BECAUSE I AM BURNING MORE OIL AS THE CAR GETS OLDER. I OWN ANOTHER TOYOTA (2010). JUST TRADED IN A 2002 CAMRY WITH 203,000 MILES (NEVER HAD TO ADD A DROP OF OIL) AND OWNED A 1986 TOYOTA SUPRA DIED @ 246K MILES NEVER ADDED A DROP OF OIL. ONE OTHER THING THE 2007 CAMRY IS UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY NOT THAT IT HELPS THIS PROBLEM. I AM WAITING FOR THE DEALER TO GET BACK TO ME AGAIN.
THE DRIVER SIDE VISOR HAS BROKEN AND WILL NO LONGER STAY UP. IT JUST HANGS DOWN IMPAIRING THE DRIVER'S LINE OF SIGHT. *KB

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE DRAINS FROM THE SUNROOF COULD HAVE BEEN DISCONNECTED AND CAUSING WATER TO LEAK INTO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 250,000.
I ACCIDENTALLY FOUND OUT THAT MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY IS BURNING EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL. WHEN I WENT FOR AN OIL CHANGE AT AROUND 60000 MILES, THE MECHANICS COMMENTED THAT MY ENGINE OIL LEVEL IS VERY LOW (NEARLY EMPTY). HE FOUND NO SIGNS OF LEAKING. AFTER THE OIL CHANGE, I CHECKED THE LEVEL TO MAKE SURE IT IS FULL. AFTER 600 MILES, THE MARK IS NEAR THE LOW END, WHICH MEANS ABOUT 1.2 QUART CONSUMPTION (ACCORDING TO USER MANUAL). *KB

ONCE THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, THE HEADLIGHTS RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE BULB AND COMPUTER MALFUNCTIONED AND CAUSED THE HEADLIGHTS TO FAIL. THE DEALER SUGGESTED REPLACING THE BULB AND THE COMPUTER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
THE DRIVERS SUNVISOR WILL NOT STAY UP. IT DROPS DOWN AND OBSTRUCTS YOUR VISION . THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS AND IS VERY DANGEROUS. *TR
THE DASHBOARD HAS MELTED WHEN THE CAR WAS 4 YEARS OLD. THERE IS A BLINDING GLARE FROM THE SUNLIGHT REFLECTING OFF THE DASH INTO THE DRIVER'S EYES. TOYOTA REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE MANUFACTURE OF A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT AND WILL NOT CURE THE DEFECT, CLAIMING IT IS A WARRANTY ISSUE. *TR
JUST OVER A YEAR AGO, THE "CHECK VSC SYSTEM" WARNING STARTED COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY IN MY VEHICLE. IT WOULD GO OFF AGAIN AFTER A COUPLE OF VEHICLE STARTS AND STOPS OVER TIME. THE DEALERSHIP RAN A DIAGNOSTIC, SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE, AND SENT ME ALONG MY WAY. AFTER A FEW MONTHS IT PROGRESSED TO THE "CHECK VSC SYSTEM", THE RED "BRAKE" LIGHT, THE LITTLE YELLOW TRIANGLE WITH THE "!" AND THE STABILITY CONTROL ICON ON STAYING ON ALL THE TIME. AFTER A FEW MORE MONTHS THE HYDRAULIC BRAKES WOULD LOSE POWER WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD START AND THIS WOULD BE ACCOMPANIED BY A LOUD, CONSTANT "BEEP." IT WOULD LAST ABOUT A MINUTE, POWER WOULD RETURN TO THE BRAKES. AFTER A FEW MORE MONTHS THE HYDRAULIC BRAKES STARTED LOSING POWER SEEMINGLY AT RANDOM WHILE I WOULD BE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. I CAN STOP OR DECELERATE, BUT I HAVE TO APPLY FAR MORE PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES AND MY BRAKING DISTANCE IS GREATLY INCREASED. IT'S A THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN NOW, AND THEY ARE CLAIMING THAT THEY HAVE "NEVER SEEN THIS PROBLEM BEFORE" AND HAVE "NO IDEA HOW TO FIX IT." *TR
THE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING SENSOR IS CONSTANTLY ILLUMINATED ON MY DASH BOARD, DESPITE HAVING CORRECT PRESSURE IN ALL TIRES ON THE CAR INCLUDING THE SPARE. IT IS A DISTRACTION. TOOK MY CAR TO THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEAL AND THEY INFORM ME THAT THE PROBLEM IS TRACED TO MALFUNCTIONING TIRE PRESSURE SENSORS. GIVEN THE RECALLS ON TOYOTA CARS/TRUCKS ON CALIBRATION PROBLEMS WITH TIRE PRESSURE SENSORS AND THE FACT THAT TOYOTA MANUFACTURES COMMON PARTS FOR ALL VEHICLES SUCH AS THESE TIRE PRESSURE SENSORS, I BELIEVE THEY ARE DEFECTIVE PARTS. MY VEHICLE IS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY WITH A V-6 ENGINE MANUFACTURED IN APRIL 2007. FURTHER COMPOUNDING THE PROBLEM IS THAT TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVE ATTRIBUTE FAULT TO THE US GOVERNMENT SAYING, "IT'S A GOVERNMENT MANDATE FOR US TO HAVE THESE SENSORS ON OUR CARS". RIDICULOUS. *TR
