MY WIFE AND I BOUGHT A CERTIFIED CAMRY HYBRID FROM THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A BUZZING NOISE FROM THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE, WE ASSUME THAT BECAUSE IT WAS A HYBRID THAT THAT WAS NORMAL. FOR 4 YEARS WE HAVE BROUGHT OUR CAMRY TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP FOR OIL CHANGES AND REGULAR SERVICE NEEDS. NEVER IN THE TIME HAD THE DEALERSHIP TOLD US THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE BUZZING SOUND. RECENTLY THE ABS AND VSC LIGHTS CAME ON SO WE TOOK THE CAR IN TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, AFTER THE DEALERSHIP TOLD US BUT THE COST WOULD BE AROUND $2,100 I DECIDED TO SEE IF I WOULD BE ABLE TO DO IT MYSELF AND AFTER GOOGLING THE PART I LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND SAW THAT THE NOISE WE HAVE BEEN HEARING FOR 4 YEARS IS COMING FROM THE SAME PART THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
THE BRAKES ON MY 07 TOYOTA CAMRY WENT "SOFT" AND THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON WHEN DRIVING AT ABOUT 35 MPH. I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT, WAITED, AND THE PROB. WENT AWAY. A FEW DAYS LATER, THE BRAKE LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL AND ABS LIGHTS TURNED ON, AND CHECK VSC SYSTEM DISPLAYED WHEN AT A RED LIGHT ON A RESIDENTIAL AREA (25MPH). I TOOK THE TO TOYOTA FOR THE SECOND TIME, AND THEY SAID IT WAS AN ABS ISSUE, ACTUATOR AND 4 BRAKE FLUIDS. THE COST TO REPAIR IT IS $1926.54. THE DEALER ADVISED ME TO CALL TOYOTA, WHICH I DID, BC THERE HAD BEEN PROBLEMS WITH BRAKING IN 07 AND 08 TOYOTA CAMRYS. TOYOTA WAS INCREDIBLY UNHELPFUL (THIS DESPITE MY OWNING TWO TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRIDS), EVEN THOUGH TOYOTA HAD ISSUED TWO EXTENDED WARRANTIES BECAUSE OF THE ISSUES WITH INTERMITTENT LOSS OF ASSISTED BRAKING REPORTED BY MANY CUSTOMERS, THE LAST ONE THROUGH JULY OF 2017. THE WOMAN I SPOKE TO INSISTED THAT SINCE THE CAR EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM "OUT OF WARRANTY" THERE IS NOTHING TOYOTA WAS WILLING TO DO.
WE PURCHASED A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY AND AFTER THREE MONTHS OF OWNING IT WE NOW NEED A NEW ENGINE. MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING THE CAR ON THE HIGHWAY AND WITHOUT WARNING THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING A FUNNY NOISE AND SMOKING. HE HAD TO STOP ON THE HIGHWAY IN A TURNING LANE AT NIGHT. I AM SO UPSET THAT WE NOW HAVE A NONWORKING VEHICLE THAT WE STILL OWE MONEY ON. I HAVE BEEN READING UP ON THIS AND APPARENTLY THERE ARE MANY 2007 MODELS WITH ENGINE FAILURE. I'M NOT A DETECTIVE BUT SOMETHING IS CRIMINAL ABOUT THIS. WE WORK HARD TO PAY FOR THESE VEHICLES....THEY ARNT A TOY WE PLAY WITH....WE NEED THEM TO GET PLACES SAFELY. IF THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE HAVING THIS ISSUE....IT MUST BE A MANUFACTURER FLAW. THEY SHOULD HAVE TO MAKE IT RIGHT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE BRAKE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT HAD DIFFICULTY STOPPING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO A PARKING LOT BEFORE THE VEHICLE STALLED. ALL OF THE WARNING INDICATORS WERE ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO FRANK FLETCHER TOYOTA (2209 S RANGELINE RD, JOPLIN, MO 64804) AND THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED. TEN DAYS LATER, THE BATTERY INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AGAIN WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 176,000.
BRAKES FAIL AFTER ALL WARNING LIGHTS COME ON REGARDLESS OF SPEED
I WAS CROSSING AN INTERSECTION AFTER THE VEHICLE ON MY LEFT STOPPED. A FORD PICKUP CAME BARRELING OUT OF NOWHERE, SWERVING AROUND THE OTHER VEHICLE. I BELIEVE THE DRIVER WAS GOING FASTER THAN HE CLAIMED ON THE POLICE REPORT (INCLUDED). WE COLLIDED IN THE INTERSECTION FRONT-LEFT-TO-FRONT-RIGHT. MY CAR WAS SPUN AROUND ABOUT `50 DEGREES TO THE RIGHT, ENDING UP ACROSS THE SIDEWALK. BOTH VEHICLES WERE TOTALED. THE OLTHER DRIVER'S AIRBAG DEPLOYED AND HE RECEIVED A CUT ON HIS FOREHEAD. MY TAKATA FRONT AND SIDECURTAIN AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, AND I WAS THROWN INTO THE DRIVER'S DOOR, BREAKING FOUR RIBS, A VERTEBRA, SHOULDER BLADE AND MY COLLARBONE. IN THE REBOUND TO THE RIGHT, MY RIGHT WRIST AND RIGHT ARM JUST ABOVE THE WRIST WERE BROKEN. THE FRACTURES WERE SET UNDER ANESTHESIA, AND I SPENT 8 DAYS IN THE HOSPITAL AND ABOUT 7 WEEKS IN A CONVALESCENT/REHAB FACILITY. I AM NOW UNDERGOING WEEKLY OT FOR WEAKNESS, LACK OF MOBILITY, AND PAIN IN MY RIGHT HAND AND WRIST, AND POOR MOBILITY AND PAIN IN MY RIGHT SHOULDER.
BRAKE ACTUATOR WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED OF ANY EXTENDED WARRANTY COERING THIS DEFECT. NOW WE ARE BEING TOLD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET WHEN WE THE OWNERS WERE NEVER NOTIFIED IN THE FIRST PLACE THAT THIS WAS AN ISSUE UNTIL THE EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED AND WE EXPERIENCED AN ISSUE. HAD WE BEEN NOTIFIED WE NEVER WOULD HAVE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE IN THE FIRST PLACE.
SUDDENLY OIL CONSUMPTION HAS GONE UP DRASTICALLY. USING ADDITIONAL QUART OF OIL EVERY 750 MILES. TALK WITH TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVE,ACCORDING TO THEM "I AM OFF MY OWN AS BECAUSE EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED."
THE BRAKE LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL AND ABS LIGHTS TURNED ON, AND CHECK VSC SYSTEM DISPLAYED. VEHICLE HAS BEEN MAINTAINED CORRECTLY. I WAS ON THE HWY GOING 65 MPH, IN MY 2007 CAMRY HYBRID WHEN THIS HAPPENED, TOTALLY LOST POWER, I WAS ABLE TO PILL OVER TO THE SIDE ROAD CALL FOR HELP. THIS IS A RIDICULOUS SITUATION FOR AN AUTOMOBILE. I FEEL LIKE THE PUBLIC IS BEING USED LIKE TEST DUMMIES BY TOYOTA.
2007 TOYOTA CAMRY'S WERE INSTALLED WITH A SUN VISOR THAT WAS LATER RECALLED DUE TO A DEFECT IN THE INNER PLASTIC BODY. ... MAKING THE ARM UNABLE TO HOLD THE VISOR IN PLACE EFFECTIVELY, OBSTRUCTING THE VIEW OF THE DRIVER. I WENT TO TOYOTA WHO SAID THAT THE RECALL IS EXPIRED AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FULL PRICE. I NEVER RECEIVED INFORMATION REGARDING THE RECALL.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BROWN'S TOYOTA OF GLEN BURNIE (7167 RITCHIE HWY, GLEN BURNIE, MD 21061 (855)-424-4897) WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED AND DETERMINE THAT THE DASHBOARD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000. *TT CONSUMER STATED DEALER EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 2017 BUT CONSUMER DIDN'T GET THIS EFFECT UNTIL 2018.*JB
HORRIBLE LOW-BEAM LIGHTING. TOYOTA RESPONSE IS "GIVE ME OVER $1,000 AND WE WILL REPLACE FIXTURES". I HAVE OWNED MANY CARS IN THE LAST 54 YEARS (ONE FOR 18 YRS) AND NEVER HAD HEADLIGHT PROBLEMS. TOYOTA OUGHT TO BE EMBARRASSED INTO AT LEAST REPLACING THEM AT COST. I'M GUESSING THE COATING ON THE LENS IS DEFECTIVE BECAUSE NOTHING ELSE HAS CORRECTED THE PROBLEM.
DASHBOARD IS STICKY AND CRACKED IN MULTIPLE PLACES MUCH LIKE THAT ON THE SIENNA WHEN IT HAD A PROBLEM. IT IS OUR SON'S CAR THAT WE DROVE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN A WHILE SO WE DO NOT KNOW THE DATE THE PROBLEM STARTED.
AFTER THE CAR ENGINE ODOMETER HIT 70.000 THE CAR STARTED TO BURN OIL MORE THAN NORMAL. I TOOK THE CAR FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THE CAR HAD VERY LITTLE OIL. SINCE THEN I HAD TO ADD 3 QUARTS OF OIL IN BETWEEN OIL CHANGE AT 78.000 AND 2 QUARTS OF OIL IN BETWEEN OIL CHANGE AT 83.000 MILES.
I AM COMPLAINING ABOUT MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY SE CAR. THIS CAR HAS A DASHBOARD PROBLEM THAT CAN CAUSE SEVERE ACCIDENTS. ITS DASHBOARD IS BECOMING STICKY, SMELLY AND SHINY AS A MIRROR. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN DEVELOPING FOR YEARS AND IT IS GETTING WORSE. WHEN I CALL A TOYOTA DEALER ABOUT 3-4 YEARS AGO TO ASK WHETHER THERE WAS A RECALL OR OTHER SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM, I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALL AND THEY COULD DO NOTHING. THIS YEAR, THE PROBLEM IS BECOMING SEVERE SINCE THE SHINY DASHBOARD OFTEN BLINDS MY EYES AND I ALMOST HIT A WALKER. I GOOGLED THIS PROBLEM AND FOUND TONS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINS AND SOME LUCKY COSTUMERS GOT FREE REPLACEMENT. SO, I CALLED THE SAME DEALER AGAIN ASKING ABOUT THE POLICY. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A RECALL SEVERAL YEARS AGO, BUT IT EXPIRED TWO YEARS AGO, SO THEY COULD DO NOTHING. THIS ANSWER IS RIDICULOUS CONSIDERING I CALLED THEM BEFORE. I THEN CALL THE HEADQUARTER. THE OPERATOR TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NOT A RECALL, BUT AN EXTENDED 10-YEAR WARRANTEE. SINCE MY CAR HAS BEEN MORE THAN TEN YEARS, TOYOTA WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DASHBOARD UNLESS I HAVE WRITTEN EVIDENCE THAT I CONTACTED TOYOTA BEFORE ABOUT THE DASHBOARD. MY COMPLAINS ARE AS FOLLOWS: (1)THIS DASHBOARD PROBLEM SHOULD BE A RECALL SINCE IT CAN CAUSE DANGEROUS ACCIDENTS. AS MENTIONED, THE SPECULAR REFLECTION FROM THE SHINY DASHBOARD CAN BLIND THE DRIVERS AND MAKE THE DRIVING VERY DANGEROUS. TOYOTA MUST HAVE KNOWN THIS PROBLEM A LONG TIME AGO AND SHOULD NOTICE ALL COSTUMERS TO CHANGE THE DASHBOARD FOR FREE, INSTEAD OF FINDING EXCUSES TO REJECT MOST UNLUCKY CUSTOMERS. TOYOTA SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE AND CARE ABOUT ITS CUSTOMERS' LIVES. (2)TOYOTA SHOULDN'T PUT THE BURDEN OF PROVIDING EVIDENCE ONLY ON COSTUMERS. THE REQUEST OF WRITTEN EVIDENCE THAT I CONTACTED THE DEALER BEFORE IS RIDICULOUS. THE FACT THAT THE DEALER FAILED TO PROVIDE ME A RIGHT SUGGESTION/SOLUTION BECOMES MY FAULT.
HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION, I BOUGHT IT FROM A DEALERSHIP. FIX IS 5000-7000$, TOYOTA IS NOT WILLING TO FIX SINCE IT SURPASSED THE WARRANTY TIME PERIOD. I AM COMPLETELY HELPLESS. IT DRINKS OIL LIKE AND I CANT SEE ANY SIGNS ON THE GROUND.
WHILE DRIVING I SAW CHECK VSC SYSTEM LIGHTS COME UP AND IT OFF AFTER SOME TIME
TAKATA RECALL. MY 2007 CAMRY LE IS BURNING ABOUT 1QT/600 OIL. THE VEHICLE WAS IN A PARKING LOT WHEN I CHECKED IT. TOYOTA ADMITS THIS OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE AS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND STILL NOT ISSUING A RECALL. I HAVE TO ADD OIL REGULARLY BETWEEN OIL CHANGES SO THAT MY CAR DOESN'T GET STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY.
MY DASHBOARD IS VERY STICKY AND SHINEY CAUSING A VERY DISTRACTING GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD, MAKING IT VERY HARD TO SEE ON SUNNY DAYS AND AT NIGHT.

DASH PAD IS STICKY AND SHINY AND LIGHTS FROM CARS, AND STREET LIGHTS REFLECT OFF OF IT INTO THE DRIVER'S EYES. IT OCCURS FROM ONCOMING VEHICLES WHEN ON NARROW ROADS AND LIGHTS FROM STORES AND STREET LIGHTS IN COMMERCIAL AREAS
MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY BURNS A LOT OF OIL. IF I WAS TO DRIVE FROM S.C. TO N.Y.C. AFTER DRIVING 600 MILES MY CRANK CASE IS EMPTY I WOULD HAVE TO ADD FIVE QUARTS OF OF TO CONTINUE ON MY JOURNEY. IN BETWEEN OIL CHANGES I WOULD DRIVE 1200 MILES AND BURN 2 AND A HALF QUARTS OF OIL.
MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY SE V6 BRAKES FAILED TO DEPLOY. ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK, I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT, NO BRAKES! I PUMPED THE BRAKES AND ALL I HEARD WAS HISSING AIR SOUND. I BELIEVE IT IS THE BRAKE BOOSTER FROM THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS DESCRIBING THE SAME ISSUE. I HAD NO WARNING LIGHTS OF ANY KIND. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A LIFE ENDING EVENT. TOYOTA NEEDS TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE. WHERE IS THE RECALL?

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED AND THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED. THE DEALER (JONES JUNCTION TOYOTA, 1508 BEL AIR ROAD #2000, BEL AIR, MD, 410-879-6400) AND THE MANUFACTURER CONFIRMED THAT THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000. **TR CONSUMER STATED SINCE OUR ORGINAL TELEPHONE CALL WITH YOUR OFFICE, WE HAD THE BROKE VISOR REPLACED. WE HAD NO CHOICE SINCE WE COULDN'T SEE PROPERLY WITH THE VISOR IN THE WAY-THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE. ATTACHED IS THE RECEIPT. THE DEALER GAVE US A SMALL DISCOUNT FROM THE REGULAR PRICE, BUT WE FEEL THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED BY TOYOTA AT NO COST TO US. UPDATED 10/30/18*JB
I HAD JUST SLOWLY TURNED RIGHT INTO A PARKING SPOT IN A PUBLIC PARKING GARAGE AND WAS COASTING TO THE END OF THE SPOT WHEN MY CAR SUDDENLY STARTED TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. I HIT THE BRAKE, BUT THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH TIME TO STOP THE CAR BEFORE IT CRASHED INTO A LARGE CONCRETE PILLAR AT THE END OF THE PARKING SPOT. THERE WAS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT BUMPER, GRILL AND HOOD OF THE CAR. I IMMEDIATELY CHECKED, BUT THERE WEREN'T ANY OBJECTS AROUND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE FLOOR MATS WERE IN PLACE. TOYOTA SENT AN INSPECTOR. THE EDR REPORT IS ATTACHED. TOYOTA SAID THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKE OR ACCELERATOR. THEY WOULD NOT HOWEVER ANSWER MY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE EDR DATA, AND SPECIFICALLY HOW, IF THE CAR WAS NOT ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN, I COULD HAVE BEEN DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, AND WHILE THE ACCELERATOR REMAINED DEPRESSED, SIMULTANEOUSLY DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AS THE EDR DATA SHOWED. NOTE THAT MY CAR WAS UP-TO-DATE WITH ALL RECALLS WHEN THE INCIDENT HAPPENED.
DASHBOARD IS WEARING TOUBLE. ITS STICKY AND ALL CRACKED UP
CHECK VSC SYSTEM LIGHTS COMES ON AND CAR STOPS ON ROAD. RESTARTS AFTER POWERING OFF AND ON.
ABS CONTROL MODULE NEEDS REPLACING. BRAKE AND ABS LIGHT COME ON,NO A/C AND SPEEDOMETER GOES TO 0. BRAKE LIGHTS DON'T WORK DURING EPISODES WHICH COULD CAUSE YOU TO GET REAR ENDED. THESE EPISODES OCCUR WHILE IDLING AND DRIVING.

WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE SPEEDOMETER GAUGE FAILED TO PROVIDE THE CORRECT READING AND THE ABS CONTROL MODULE AND EMERGENCY WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. ALSO THE COOLING COMPONENT OF THE AIR CONDITIONER FAILED TO FUNCTION. FURTHERMORE, WHILE AT A STOP SIGN, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO POWER DOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ABS CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE THE CONTACT'S SON WAS DRIVING AT UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING AND CRASHED INTO THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE OF A FORD TRUCK. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED HEAD INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION; HOWEVER, THE DRIVER DIED AT THE HOSPITAL. THE DRIVER OF THE TRUCK SUSTAINED UNKNOWN INJURIES. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED AT THE SCENE, BUT THERE WAS NO FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
II HAVE A 2007 CAMRY THAT HAS A DEFECTIVE SUN VISOR AS IT NOW HANGS AND OBSTRUCTS MY VISIBILITY. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND I WOULD EXPECT TOYOTA TO HONOR IT AND FIX IT WITHOUT CHARGE TO THE CONSUMER.
EXCESSIVE ENGINE OIL USAGE. 1 PLUS QUARTS OF OIL EVERY 1000 MILES APPROX. ENGINE HAS APPROX 91000 MILES ON IT.
TAKATA RECALL STICKY DASHBOARD, CAN'T SEE WITH A BAD GLARE
THE BREAK LIGHT AND ABS LIGHT COME ONE AND ALL GAUGES STOP WORKING AND JUST START JUMPING AROUND. THE AC DOESN'T WORK WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THIS HAPPENS WHILE IDOL AND WHILE DRIVING. IF DRIVING, I CAN'T TELL HOW FAST I'M GOING BECAUSE THE GAUGES STOP WORKING. THIS HAPPENS AT RANDOM TIMES THEN GOES BACK TO NORMAL BUT SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY.
DASHBOARD IS EXTREMELY STICKY AND REFLECTIVE WHEN THE SUN HITS IT CAUSING LITTLE TO NO VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING
GOT WARNING CHECK VSC SYSTEM AND ALL ABS, ENGINE, BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the vehicle independently lunged forward while his foot was on the brake pedal and shifting gears without warning. The contact also stated that the failure would occur upon attempting to park the vehicle also while his foot was on the brake pedal and shifting gears. The contact stated that the failure was random and that the RPM's would rev up during the failure. The contact stated that upon his own investigation and inspection of the vehicle, he linked the failure to a worn throttle position sensor. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
VSC ABS MIL LIGHTS CAME ON IN DASH AND BRAKES SANK TO FLOOR, BUT RESTORED CONTROL AFTER RESTART. CHECKED DIAGNOSTIC CODES AND IT SHOWED CODES FOR HYBRID BATTERY P0A80 AND P3025. REPLACED AUXILARY BATTERY WITH OEM FROM TOYOTA. NOW CAR SHUTS DOWN WHILE IN MOTION DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEEDS WITHOUT ANY WARNING AND LOSE GAS PEDAL RESPONSE. FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WITH MY FAMILY IN THE CAR INCLUDING A 5 YR OLD AND 9 MONTH OLD BABY. COMPLAINED TO TOYOTA AS VEHICLE ONLY HAS APPROX 93000 MILES AND TOYOTA DECLINES TO ASSIST WITH RESOLVING ISSUE EVEN THOUGH WARRANTY WAS EXTENDED TO 10YR/150K MILES. DEALER MISDIAGNOSED VEHICLE CODES. BRAKES FAILED SECOND TIME, THIS TIME CAUSING CAR TO SLOWLY BUMP INTO OBJECT AND SCRAPING BUMPER AT LOW SPEED. CHECKED ALL FUSES. VEHICLE NOW CONTINUOUSLY SHUTS DOWN RANDOMLY ON SLOW OR HIGH SPEEDS, WHILE MAKING A TURN, MERGING INTO TRAFFIC, CROSSING A HEAVY INTERSECTION.
OIL LIGHT WAS FLASHING, SO I TOOK TO MY MECHANIC. HE SAID THE OIL HAD USED 3QTS IN LESS THAN A MONTH (LAST OIL CHANGE) AND THAT THE COOLANT WAS BONE DRY. IT TURNS OUT ITS A HEAD GASKET/ENGINE ISSUE. HE LET ME KNOW HE HAD MULTIPLE 2007 CAMRYS WITH THIS ISSUE, AND THAT THE DEALERSHIP HAS AN OPEN 'CAMPAIGN'? OR RECALL. I HAVE LEFT A MESSAGE FOR THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP
WHEN EXPOSED TO WARM TEMPERATURES, THE DASHBOARD BECOMES HIGHLY GLOSSY CAUSING AN EXCESSIVE REFLECTION OFF THE WINDSHIELD. THIS CONDITION CREATES A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO THE REDUCED VISIBILITY CAUSED BY THE GLARE AND REFLECTION OFF THE WINDSHIELD. THIS ISSUE IS RELATED TO A PRIOR EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT TOYOTA HAD ON THE VEHICLE (WHICH COVERED ONLY CRACKED AND/OR STICKY/MELTING DASHBOARDS. THE WARRANTY PERIOD FOR THE CRACKED OR MELTING DASHBOARDS ENDED 5/31/17 -- HOWEVER, THIS DOES NOT ADDRESS THE SAFETY ISSUE CAUSED BY THE GLARE/REFLECTION WHICH IS MORE SERIOUS.
ON MONDAY JULY 30TH, I TOOK MY 2008 TOYOTA SOLARA CONVERTIBLE INTO HILAND TOYOTA'S DEALERSHIP IN MOLINE, ILLINOIS AND DISCUSSED THE PROBLEM OF THE DEFECTIVE DASHBOARD THAT IS CURRENTLY MELTING IN MY CAR. I HAVE NOTICED THIS STARTING TO OCCUR SINCE JULY 16TH, 2018 WHEN I WAS MAKING A TURN AND MY FINGERNAIL GOT CAUGHT WITHIN THE DASHBOARD. I AM ALSO BLINDED BY THE REFLECTIONS ON THE WINDSHIELD CAUSED BY THE STICKY DASHBOARD AND IT'S CREATING A FILM ON THE INSIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD THAT IS DIFFICULT TO SEE THROUGH, EVEN WITH MULTIPLE CLEANINGS. HILAND TOYOTA OBSERVED THE DEFECTIVE DASHBOARD AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE SINCE IT WAS AFTER THE MAY 31ST, 2017 EXTENDED WARRANTY. I HAVE ALSO ATTACHED PICTURES OF THE WINDSHIELD THAT IS FILMED UP AFTER CLEANING IT THE DAY BEFORE, AND OF THE FINGERNAIL PRINT. THIS PROBLEM HAS AFFECTED NUMEROUS TOYOTA AND LEXUS OWNERS AND TOYOTA HAS NOT DONE MUCH ABOUT THIS ISSUE. EVEN WITH THE EXTENDED WARRANTY OF MAY 31ST, 2017, MULTIPLE CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS HAVE MENTIONED THAT TOYOTA DOESN'T HAVE THE REPLACEMENT PARTS AND SAID OWNERS ARE WAITING YEARS AFTER FIRST CONTACT TO GET REPAIRS STARTED. IN MY CASE, I CONTACTED TOYOTA (FILE NUMBER #1808222394) ABOUT FIXING THE DEFECTIVE DASHBOARD AND THEY RESPONDED THAT AFTER MAY 31ST, 2017, THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THIS IS THE FIRST TOYOTA THAT I HAVE PURCHASED, HOWEVER, THIS DEFECTIVE DASHBOARD IS MAKING IT UNSAFE TO DRIVE MY CAR AND MANY OTHERS AGREE, RESULTING IN LEGAL CONSEQUENCES. I AM CURRENTLY FILLING OUT A COMPLAINT WITH THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION, IN CASE SOMETHING DOES HAPPEN. I AM ALSO APPALLED THAT A COMPANY THAT REGARDS ITSELF AS A 'LEADER' IN THE AUTO INDUSTRY CAN LET PEOPLE WALK OFF THEIR DEALERSHIP DRIVING AN UNSAFE CAR THAT THEY ENGINEERED, PRODUCED, AND OBVIOUSLY DON'T STAND BEHIND.

ALL OF THE BRAKE-RELATED LIGHTS ARE ON CONSTANTLY A FEW SECONDS AFTER STARTING UP THE CAR AND STAY ON UNTIL SHUTTING IT OFF. SOMETIMES THE BRAKES RANDOMLY SHUT STOP FUNCTIONING AS EXPECTED AND DO NOTHING WHEN COMPRESSING. I DIDN'T REALIZE THIS WAS A RECALL WHEN THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY (AND EVEN AFTER TOYOTA EXTENDED THE WARRANTY DUE TO THE FACT THIS IS SUCH A WIDE AND PERVASIVE ISSUE); OTHERWISE, I WOULD HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO GET IT REPAIRED AS A PRECAUTIONARY MEASURE. THIS REPAIR WAS QUOTED TO COST A MINIMUM OF $2,200. IT WOULD BE IDEAL IF TOYOTA WOULD FIX THIS PART SINCE IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND SINCE NO OTHER MAJOR PART OF THE CAR IS FAULTY, EVEN THOUGH THE CAR HAS ALMOST 200,000 MILES ON IT. ON MY 2007 CAMRY HYBRID, AS I WAS REVERSING, THE BRAKES ALL OF A SUDDEN ENGAGED, BRAKING SO HARD IT FELT LIKE I HIT SOMETHING. SOON AFTER, THE BRAKE LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL AND ABS LIGHTS TURNED ON, AND CHECK VSC SYSTEM DISPLAYED. VSC WARNING LIGHTS AND DISPLAY MESSAGE INTERMITTENTLY TURN OFF AND TURN BACK ON ARBITRARILY.
STICKING DASHBOARD IS MELTING VERY STICKY
Dashboard is too reflective, has melted and is incredibly sticky. This has resulted in a glare off the windshield that shines back into the drivers eyes and compromises visibility.
ISSUE 1: RECALL ON STICKY DASH REGISTERED WITH QUALITY IMPORTS OF FWB IN 2016 AND NEVER RESOLVED. I CHECKED BACK WITH THEM REPEATEDLY AND WAS TOLD THE PART WAS ON BACK-ORDER. THEY HAVE NOW MOVED LOCATIONS. ISSUE 2: DRIVER'S SIDE SUN-VISOR WILL NOT MAINTAIN POSITION. IT FLOPS DOWN IN DRIVER'S VISION. BOTH ISSUES RESULTED WHILE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY.
ON JULY 9, 2018, VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND TO CHECK ON INTERMITTENT ENGINE KNOCKING. WE WERE TOLD THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE PISTONS AND COST FOR REPAIR WOULD BE $4,400.00. REPAIR WOULD INCLUDE: KITS, CLAMPS, HOSES, PISTONS AND PISTON PINS. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SECOND TOYOTA DEALER WHO SUGGESTED EITHER A USED ENGINE OR A REBUILT ONE. ESTIMATED COST WOULD BE BETWEEN $5,000.00 AND $6,000.00
DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT 70MPH WHEN THE DASHBOARD LIT UP WITH SEVERAL LIGHTS, INCLUDING EMERGENCY, BRAKE AND ABS, AND A CHECK VSC SYSTEM INDICATION. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO CRUISE AND CAREFULLY APPLY THE BRAKE AT SEVERAL INTERVALS TO STOP. THIS IS AN ONGOING AND KNOWN ABS ACTUATOR PROBLEM IN 07 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRIDS. THE TOYOTA DEALER WILL NOT COVER THE $3K COST TO REPLACE THE ACTUATOR BECAUSE IT IS PAST THE 10 YEAR LIMIT. PLEASE EITHER ISSUE A RECALL OR EXTEND THE WARRANTY. THIS IS NOT SAFE FOR CONSUMERS.
