TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE REFLECTION OF THE SUN ON THE MELTING DASHBOARD CREATED A MIRROR LIKE EFFECT AND OBSCURED THE DRIVER'S VISIBILITY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (TOYOTA OF TURNERSVILLE, 3400 NJ-42 TURNERSVILLE, NEW JERSEY 08012) WHERE THEY DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD EXCEEDED THE 10 YEAR WARRANTY FOR A RECALL REPAIR. THE SPECIFIC RECALL INFORMATION WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,370.
"TAKATA RECALL" WHILE DRIVING MY 2007 CAMRY I'VE ALWAYS NOTICED THAT MY DASHBOARD WAS EXTREMELY STICKY AND SEEMED TO BE MELTING. MY WIFE NOTICED AND SAID IT WASN'T NORMAL SHE GOOGLE IT AND SAID THAT IT WAS A RECALL ON THE DASHBOARDS BEING DEFECTED. I'M TRYING TO FIND OUT WHAT STEP DO I NEED TO TAKE IN RECTIFYING THIS ISSUE.
MY CAR IS COMSUMING 13/4 QUARTS OF OIL FOR 1200 MILES
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S DASHBOARD WAS MELTING AND CRACKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LIPTON TOYOTA (1700 W OAKLAND PARK BLVD, FORT LAUDERDALE, FL 33311, (954) 790-6137), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000.
MY AUNT BOUGHT BRAND NEW 2007 CAMRY AND TRANSFER TO ME 2-2018. NOTICE THAT ENGINE SOUND NOT RIGHT. HAVE TO CHECK OIL EVERY WEEK. ENGINE BURNING OIL A LOT, HAVE TO PUT 1 QUART EVERY 1200 MILES, ONLY 67500 MILES AND NOW STARTING TO HEAR KNOCKING NOISE. CALL TOYOTA AND THEY SAID WARRANTY EXPIRE. REPAIR AT OWNER COST.
VSC WARNING CAME ON INCLUDING TRACTION, ABS, BRAKE, + 2 WARNING LIGHTS. THE ABS PUMP KEEPS MAKING NOISE EVERY 5 TO 10 SECONDS EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS OFF. THE BRAKES FEEL DIFFERENT. THIS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 70MPH
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN AND THE RPM NEEDLE MOVED TO THE HIGHEST LEVEL. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP. AFTER A FEW SECONDS, THE CONTACT SHIFTED TO THE PARK POSITION, REMOVED THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH, AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO TOYOTA TREASURE COAST (5101 SE FEDERAL HIGHWAY STUART, FLORIDA 34997) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FLOORMAT GOT CAUGHT BETWEEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE CARPET OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT A SPRING WAS FOUND NEAR THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO REMOVE THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE FLOORMAT WHILE DRIVING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE GLARE FROM THE STICKY SUBSTANCE WAS IMPACTING THE CONTACT'S VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALER (BILL PENNEY TOYOTA, 4808 UNIVERSITY DR. NW, HUNTSVILLE, AL 35816, (256) 837-1111) DIAGNOSED THAT THE DASHBOARD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY CAMPAIGN, BUT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. *TT *TR
WAS DOING A 3000 MILE OIL CHANGE 3/29/2018 AND ONLY 1.5 QUARTS CAME OUT. CALLED THE DEALER WHO SAID ITS OUT OF WARRANTY, CANT DO ANYTHING FOR US. WE BOUGHT THIS CAR USED FROM THEM MAY 2017, THEY DIDN'T TELL US ABOUT THE TSB. ALL OIL CHANGES HAVE BEEN NORMAL UNTIL LAST WEEK. CROOKS!
HOOD OPEN WARNING LIGHT ON DASHBOARD AND CHIME ACTIVATES WHILE DRIVING ON SURFACE STREETS AND FREEWAY. I STOP TO CHECK HOOD AND IT IS SECURE. LIGHT AND ALARM WILL CLEAR AND THEN A FEW MILES LATER IT WILL GO ON AGAIN. WHEN CAR IS PARKED AND CAR ALARM IS ACTIVATED, THE CAR ALARM WILL START SOUNDING OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, WITH NOBODY NEAR THE VEHICLE. I HAVE READ THAT OTHER OWNERS HAVE HAD THESE TWO CONDITIONS ALSO, AND BELIEVE THESE TWO CONDITIONS ARE RELATED. IT IS AN ANNOYANCE TO MY NEIGHBORS AS WELL AS MYSELF, AND IF DRIVING ON THE ROAD THIS COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IF PULLING OVER TO CHECK THE HOOD LATCH TO SILENCE ALARM AND WARNING LIGHT. THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES IN THE PAST TWO MONTHS.
THE DASHBOARD HAS RECENTLY STARTED "MELTING" AND HAS BECOME STICKY AND SHINY, CREATING A VERY DISTRACTING GLARE WHILE DRIVING IN THE SUNLIGHT THAT OBSTRUCTS MY VISIBILITY. ALTHOUGH TOYOTA HAD EXTENDED THE WARRANTY PREVIOUSLY FOR THIS PROBLEM, I WAS NOT HAVING THIS ISSUE AT THE TIME THE WARRANTY WAS OFFERED. WHEN I CALLED THEM UP ASKING THEM TO REPLACE THEIR DEFECTIVE DASHBOARD, I WAS TOLD MY VEHICLE WAS "TOO OLD" TO QUALIFY AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY HUNDREDS (PERHAPS THOUSANDS?!) OF DOLLARS OUT OF POCKET TO FIX THEIR OWN SAFETY HAZARD. SAFETY HAZARDS CAUSED BY TOYOTA'S OWN NEGLIGENCE SHOULD NOT BE THE CUSTOMER'S FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX!
I WAS DRIVING MY CAMRY AND AS I APPROACHED TRAFFIC STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION. I BEGAN TO APPLY THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN AND STOP WHEN THE BRAKES EFFECTIVELY QUIT. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WARNING LIGHTS AND WARNING HORNS BEGAN GOING OFF AND I SWERVED OFF THE ROAD TO AVOID HITTING THE STOPPED CARS IN FRONT OF ME. I DOWN SHIFTED THE TRANSMISSION AND SET THE PARKING BRAKE TO BRING THE CAR TO A STOP. NEEDLESS TO SAY IT CAUGHT ME BY SURPRISE AND I AM JUST GLAD I WAS DRIVING AND NOT ONE OF MY 16 YEAR OLD TWIN BOYS! I WAS ABLE TO GET INTO THE PARKING LOT OF A CLOSE BY GAS STATION WHERE I NOTICED THE 'CHECK VSC', 'BRAKE' AND 'ABS' LIGHTS WERE ALL ILLUMINATED. AT THIS POINT THE BRAKES FELT AS IF THE POWER BRAKING WAS INOPERATIVE. I SLOWLY DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE NEAREST TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND AFTER DOING A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, THE SERVICE TEAM REPRESENTATIVE INFORMED ME THE MECHANIC FOUND THE' 'BRAKE ACTUATOR IS CONTINUALLY RUNNING. LOSING PRESSURE.' ALTHOUGH THERE I WAS ABLE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT, HAD THE AREA TO THE RIGHT OF THE ROAD NOT BEEN CLEAR, I WOULD HAVE PROBABLY HIT SEVERAL CARS STOPPED AT THE INTERSECTION.
MELTED DASHBOARD
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY SOLARA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (WILLS TOYOTA LOCATED AT 318 SHOSHONE ST W, TWIN FALLS, ID 83301) WHERE IT WAS INFORMED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000.
FAULTY ABS CONTROLLER AFFECTING EVERYTHING FROM THE BATTERY CHARGING, AC, ABS AND VSC CONTROL SYSTEM WORSE CASE CAUSING BRAKES TO FAIL.
CAR ACCELARTED WITHOUT STEPPING ON GAS PEDAL ON ITS OWN IN A PARKING LOT, TOOK REPETITIVE AND FORCEFUL PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE TO CONTROL CAR FROM CONTINUING INTO A WALL. MECHANIC (NOT DEALER) TESTED AND PROBLEM DIDN'T APPEAR. WHEN DRIVING CAR INTO HOME HOME PARKING SPOT, BACKING UP TO POSITION PLACE, THE CAR ACCELERATED ON IT OWN AGAIN AND STOPPED ONLY WITH FORCEFUL BRAKE PRESSURE.
MY VEHICLE DOES NOT BURN ENOUGH OIL. I HAVE ZERO OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUES. TOYOTA IS A GREAT COMPANY. EMPLOYEES SHOULD GET A RAISE TODAY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING UPHILL WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE CRUISE CONTROL FAILED TO DISENGAGE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND CASE NUMBER: 1803150976 WAS OPENED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 136,000. *TT CONSUMER STATED THE CRUISE CONTROL REQUESTED POWER, ELECTRONIC FAILURE BETWEEN CRUISE, ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION, CAUSING ENGINE RPM TO ACCELERATE WITH NO POWER FROM TRANSMISSION. I HIT BRAKE PEDAL TO KEEP ENGINE FROM BEING DAMAGED. FEW SECONDS LATER TRANSMISSION THUMPED/CLUNKED. TRANSMISSION DAMAGED FROM THAT POINT. I DROVE CAR WITHOUT CRUISE CONTROL TILL NEW TRANSMISSION WAS INSTALLED. UPDATED 10/15/18*JB
2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ABS BREAK ACTUATOR FAILURE. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE DUE TO THE VEHICLE BEING OUTSIDE OF THE 10 YEAR WARRANTY. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED TO REIMBURSED FOR THE REPAIRS. *JS
SUN VISOR KEEPS FALLING INTO THE LINE OF VISION AND WE BUMP OUR HEADS GETTING IN OR OUT OF THE VEHICLE. VERY DANGEROUS.
BRAKE ACTUATOR FAILURE
MELTING, STICKY AND SHINY DASHBOARD. THE SHINY DASHBOARD CREATES A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD MAKING A POOR VISIBILITY. THE UNSAFE AND FAULTY DASHBOARD IS PREVENTING A GOOD VISIBILITY DAY OR NIGHT. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE WARRANTY WAS FOR 10 YEARS ONLY. I ALSO CONTACTED TOYOTA AND ALSO STATED THAT THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED AND THEY COULD NOT HELP ME WITH THE PROBLEM. THE CAR CONTINUES TO BE IN SERVICE UNTIL I FIND A SOLUTION. THE DEALER SAID THAT IT WAS A VERY EXPENSIVE FAULTY REPAIR.
MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY DASHBOARD IS VERY STICKY AND SEEMS TO BE MELTING. WITH THE SLIGHTEST TAP TO IT, PIECES OF THE RUBBER ON THE DASHBOARD WILL BREAK OFF. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND APPARENTLY THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE CAR BECAUSE OF THE DASHBOARDS DURING THE TIME I PURCHASED IT BUT BEING THAT I WAS NOT THE OWNER IN TOYOTA'S LOG I WAS NOT NOTIFIED. I HAVE CONTACTED TOYOTA VIA TELEPHONE AND GOTTEN NO RESULTS AND I HAVE WENT TO A TOYOTA LOT AND STILL HAVEN'T GOT ANY RESULTS. ANY AND EVERYTHING IS ABLE TO STICK TO THE DASHBOARDS PUTTING IT AT RISK OF BECOMING HOME FOR MICROORGANISMS AND POSSIBLY CAUSING RESPIRATORY ISSUES FOR ME. I AM NOT ABLE TO DISINFECT THE DASHBOARD BECAUSE EVERYTHING STICKS TO IT. IN THE PAST I WOULD NO DOUBT RECOMMEND TOYOTA TO EVERYONE DUE TO THE FACT THAT MY FAMILY HAS BEEN A LONG TIME SUPPORTER OF TOYOTA BUT CURRENTLY I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM BECAUSE THEY REFUSE TO FIX SOMETHING THAT IS A MANUFACTURERS ISSUE.
ABS MODULE IS CONSTANTLY CYCLING . VCS LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHT ARE ON. THE BRAKES ARE SOFT. THE REPAIR IS APROX 3K DOLLARS
WHILE DRIVING DOWN A BUSY CITY STREET THE 'CHECK VSC SYSTEM' MESSAGE SUDDENLY APPEARED ALONG WITH MANY OTHER WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH AND A WARNING SOUND. BRAKING AND STEERING BECAME VERY DIFFICULT. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER INTO A PARKING LOT AND GET OUT OF TRAFFIC. MY CAR HAS HAD EVERY MANUFACTURER SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE SERVICE PERFORMED FOR THE LIFE OF THE CAR.
WHILE DRIVING TO WORK MY CAR STARTED DOING 50 MPH WITHOUT MY FOOT ON ANY PEDAL. I HAD TO RIDE THE BRAKE TO KEEP IT WITHIN THE SPEED LIMIT OF 20 IN THE SCHOOL ZONE AND THEN 35 ON THE ROAD. WHEN I ARRIVED AT A RED LIGHT THE CAR TRIED TO MOVE FORWARD EVEN WITH THE BRAKE PRESSED ALL THE WAY DOWN. I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND THE ENGINE STARTED REVVING. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND STILL HAD THE SAME REVVING AND PULLING. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND PUT IT IN PARK AND THE CAR KEPT REVVING. I TURNED IT OFF AND KEPT IT OFF FOR SEVERAL MINUTES, WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON I STILL HAD THE SAME ISSUE. I CAREFULLY DROVE THE CAR BACK HOME (ABOUT A MILE TOTAL TRIP) RIDING THE BRAKE THE WHOLE TIME TO KEEP THE CAR FROM GETTING AWAY FROM ME. NO MAT WAS NEAR THE PEDALS, I TRIED MOVING TO A LOWER GEAR, I MADE SURE ALL CRUISE CONTROLS WERE OFF, NOTHING HELPED. IT WAS THE MOST TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD WHILE DRIVING!
MY WIFE WAS RUN OFF THE ROAD GOING ABOUT 55MPH. SHE CENTERED THE FRONT OF HER CAR INTO A TELEPHONE POLE. THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. CAR WAS TOTALED.
I WAS DRIVING FROM DELAWARE TO PHILADELPHIA ON A RAINY DAY AND SUDDENLY THE LIGHT OF THE BREAK, ABS AND STABILITY LIGHT COME UP. ALSO THERE IS A MESSAGE TELLING TO CHECK VSC SYSTEM. I PULLED OVER AND STARTED THE CAR AGAIN AND NOTHING HAPPENED . I'M SCARE TO DRIVE THE CAR ON HIS CONDITION SINCE I'M PREGNANT.
USED NEARLY 4 QRTS OF OIL IN LESS THEN 3,000 MILES CAUSING CHECK OIL LIGHT TO COME ON. ADDED 4 QRTS. JUST BOUGHT CAR FROM WEST HERR TOYOTA. DEALER DID A OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AND CLAIMED CAR USED 1.2 QRTS IN 1100 MILES AND SAID ITS NORMAL. THEY TOPPED OFF OIL AND ENGINE IS DOWN NEARLY 2 QRTS AFTER DRIVING 800 MILES. DEALER LIEING ABOUT HOW BAD IT IS. TAKING CAR BACK TO SHOW THEM .
THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON AND THE SPEEDOMETOR KEEPS GOING OUT. SKID CONTROL ECU CODE ABS ACTUATOR WILL NEED REPLACE.WHEN CAR ON ROAD AND IT HAPPEN -NOT SAFE,PUT ME ON DANGEROS POSITION. LATER,I DISCOVERED SIMILAR PROBLEM DRIVERS HAVE AND WAS RECALL ON TOYOTA HYBRID 2007 ,BUT NOT ON REGULAR CAMRY 2007.
THE DASHBOARD IS MADE OF A PLASTIC THAT DETERIORATES OVER TIME. THE EFFECT IS A STICKY COATING WHEN THE DASHBOARD IS EXPOSED TO WARMTH. TOYOTA EXPANDED THE WARRANTY FOR 10 YEARS. MY CAR DID NOT EXHIBIT SYMPTOMS DURING THAT TIME, OR WHEN CHECKED, HAD NOT BEEN EXPOSED TO HEAT (THE CAR IS GARAGE KEPT). DASHBOARDS SHOULD NOT WEAR OUT. TOYOTA WAS SOLD A DEFECTIVE MATERIAL. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY TOYOTA WOULD NOT INSIST THAT CUSTOMERS ARE MADE WHOLE FOR THIS (THE REPAIR IS OVER $1,200) RATHER THAN RISK LOSING LOYAL (FORMERLLY LOYAL) CUSTOMERS. MY WIFE AND I HAVE OWNED 5 TOYOTAS SINCE 1980, AND CURRENTLY HAVE TWO. THE SHINY DASH CAN BE A SAFETY HAZARD. OUR 2007 HAD OTHER SERIOUS DEFECTS THAT TOYOTA REPAIRED. WE WILL SHOP ANOTHER BRAND NEXT TIME.
TOYOTA DEALERSHIP PERFORMED THEIR "WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT" TEST ON MY CAR IN 2016 TO SEE IF IT QUALIFIED FOR THEIR KNOWN OIL CONSUMPTION COVERAGE AND REPAIR. IT DID NOT SEE THEIR CRITERIA. NOW MY CAR IS CONSUMING 1 QUART OF OIL NEARLY EVERY 1000 MILES AND THEY WILL NOT COVER THE PROBLEM.
THE ABS & BRAKE LIGHT COMES IN AND WHEN IT DOES THE SPEED MOTOR GOES TO 0 AND ALSO IS THE AIR CONDITIONER IS ON IT GOES STRAIGHT TO BLOWING HOT AIR
INSTRUMENT PANEL FAILURE....WHILE DRIVING BRAKE AND ABS LIGHTS CUT ON AND SPEEDOMETER TACHOMETER TEMPERATURE GAUGE GAS GUAGE AND ODOMETER QUIT WORKING. THE AC ALSO BLOWS HOT AIR AND CAR SHAKES WHEN STOPPING OCCASIONALLY.THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR MONTHS AND STARTED AROUND 170000 MILES. DEALER WANTS TO CHARGE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO FIND PROBLEM. THAT'S HALF OF THE VALUE OF THE CAR. IT'S NOT WORTH THAT MUCH MONEY TO FIX. TOYOTA NEEDS TO DO A RECALL FOR THIS. IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN
TOYOTA HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION -MY 2007 CAMRY HAS 53K MILES AND HAS STARTED USING APPROXIMATELY 1 QUART OF OIL EVERY 1K MILES. THIS IS EXCESSIVE. I WOULD LIKE TOYOTA TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE.
TOYOTA CASE #1809103728. DASHBOARD IS MELTING. MOTHER NEVER RECEIVED THE NOTIFICATION IN THE MAIL AND WAS NOT ADVISED WHEN SHE BROUGH THE CAR INTO THE TOYOTA DEALER. SPOKE TO NATASHA RAMIREZ, OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR AT TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS AND SHE ADVISED THERE IS NOTHING THEY AN DO. THEY ARE ALLOWING DANGEROUS VEHICLE ON THE ROAD AND ARE NOT TAKING ANY RESPONSIBILITY OR ACTION TO FIX THE SITUATION.

THE VEHICLE IS BURNING 1 QUART OF OIL EVERY 1000 MILES. THERE IS SOME SMOKING COMING FROM THE TAILPIPE AS WELL. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 77,000 MILES ON IT.
TAKATA MY 2007 TOYOTA HYBRID HAS BEEN BEHAVING BADLY, WITH JUST 190K MILES.MY TRACTION BATTERY MONITOR WOULD SHOW 7 BARS FALLING TO 1 BAR INSTANTLY. INSTANTLY, AS I WOULD BE LOOKING AT IT AND IT JUST DROPPED THAT FAST. IT WOULD GET PARKED WITH A FULL CHARGE INDICATED AND THEN THE NEXT MORNING ONE BAR. SOMETIMES IT GOES INTO E MODE AND SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY IVE BEEN CLOSE TO CRASH WITH OTHER VEHICLES. THE ECM THROWS A WARNING, "CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM". I BORROWED AN ACTRON SCANNER THAT HAD THE CAPABILITY OF BASIC HYBRID CODES AND ONE CODE WAS PRESENT "P0A80". ALSO, CHECK VSC WOULD SHOW ALL THE TIMES. SOMEWHERE I READ THIS IS NORMAL WITH P0A80 AS THE ECM SHUTS DOWN THE VSC TO CONSERVE POWER..
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE ENGINE SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER (DON MCGILL TOYOTA OF KATY, 21555 KATY FWY, KATY, TX 77450) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 1802121645. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000. *TT *AS
BRAKE ACTUATOR FAILED, TRIGGERING WARNING LIGHTS AND MAKING IT HARD TO PUSH ON THE PEDAL TO STOP THE CAR WHILE IN MOTION. ABS FUNCTION WON'T ACTIVATE. THE ISSUE STARTED IN MAY 2017 AND WAS TAKEN TO A TOYOTA DEALER IN LUFKIN, TEXAS FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIANS "COULDN'T" DETERMINE THE PROBLEM AND RELEASED THE VEHICLE. THIS SAME STEP HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES OVER THE ENSUING MONTHS, ONLY TO BE FINALLY DIAGNOSED ON DEC 13, 2017. I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THE ACTUATOR PROBLEM IS COVERED BY A 'WARRANTY EXTENSION,' WHICH STRETCHES OUT THE WARRANTY PERIOD BEYOND THE STANDARD THREE YEARS OR 36 MONTHS TO, ULTIMATELY, 10 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES, WHICHEVER COMES FIRST. I THOUGHT THAT WAS GOOD NEWS, BUT AFTER SPEAKING WITH TOYOTA CORPORATE REP, THE WARRANTY WAS DENIED DUE TO THE VEHICLE BEING OUT OF THE COVERAGE PERIOD SINCE JUNE. I EXPLAINED THAT THERE WERE ATTEMPTS TO HAVE THE ISSUE DIAGNOSED PRIOR TO THE EXPIRATION, BUT THE REP STATED THAT SINCE THE ACTUAL DETERMINATION HAPPENED OUTSIDE OF THE PERIOD, COVERAGE COULD NOT BE EXTENDED. SINCE THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, THEIR TECHS SHOULD HAVE RECOGNIZED THE PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY AND REPAIRED THE VEHICLE, WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. FURTHERMORE, IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE AND AN ACTUAL RECALL SHOULD BE THE REMEDY INSTEAD OF WORKING AROUND IT WITH A "SERVICE CAMPAIGN." I AM ASKING FOR ASSISTANCE TO HAVE TOYOTA COVER THIS REPAIR DUE THEIR FAILURE TO EDUCATE THEIR SERVICE TECHS OR A POTENTIAL DELIBERATE ATTEMPT TO MOVE THE DIAGNOSE OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY COVERAGE PERIOD.
TODAY, DECEMBER 11, 2017, WHILE DRIVING MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID VEHICLE ON A CITY STREET IN TRAFFIC, THE 'CHECK VSC SYSTEM' WARNING CAME ON. ALL DASH LIGHTS INCLUDING 'BRAKES' CAME ON AND VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO STOP. THERE WAS NO POWER ASSISTED BRAKING. BRAKE PEDAL WAS HARD TO ENGAGE AND WHEN VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP, THERE WAS A SINGLE "KNOCK OR BANG" SOUND. THIS WARNING HAD COME ON PREVIOUSLY WITHOUT BRAKING ISSUE UNTIL LAST WEEK WHEN MY WIFE TOLD ME SHE HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM DRIVING HOME FROM WORK. I CLEANED AND SUBSEQUENTLY REPLACED THE GAS CAP AS PER A YOU TUBE DESCRIBED REPAIR OF THE CHECK VSC WARNING. I THEN DROVE THE CAR INTERMITTENTLY SINCE THAT TIME WITHOUT INCIDENT UNTIL TODAY. MY WIFE EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM 12/7/2017.
THE VSC WARNING SYSTEM CAME ON INCLUDING SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS. THE ABS ACTUATOR FAILED. I AM TOLD THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE BUT IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE REPAIR IS $1500-$2000. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RIVERHEAD TOYOTA (1655 OLD COUNTRY RD, RIVERHEAD, NY 11901) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ABS ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE BRAKE SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED; HOWEVER, TOYOTA COULD NOT COVER THE COST BECAUSE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,970.

DRIVING NORMAL AND BRAKE LIGHT INDICATOR LIGHTS UP WITH VCS MESSAGE AND POWER BRAKES FAIL. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM ON HIGHWAY OR LOCAL ROADS.
THE MELTING DASHBOARD IS CAUSING TREMENDOUS GLARE FROM SUN CAUSING A SAFETY HAZARD. TOYOTA IS AWARE AND HAD A VOLUNTARY RECALL, BUT I DID NOT GET THE LETTER. WHEN I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE RECALL, I THOUGHT DATE OF FIRST USE WAS WHEN I BEGAN DRIVING THE CAR, IT IS NOT. THE SECONDARY COVERAGE FOR 10 YEARS AFTER DATE OF FIRST USE WAS 8/3/17. I CALLED TOYOTA ON 11/17/17 AND THEY SAID TOO LATE. I WENT TO TOYOTA AND CALLED CORPORATE ON 5-30-18, BUT THEY WOULD DO NOTHING. I USE A SUNSHIELD AND CAR IS MOSTLY GARAGED, BUT IT IS THE TEXAS HEAT CAUSING IT, AND I CAN'T STOP IT. I RECENTLY SAW THIS PROBLEM ON THE NEWS WITH NISSAN AND TOYOTA AND HOW DANGEROUS IT IS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER (NASHVILLE TOYOTA NORTH, 2400 GALLATIN PIKE N, MADISON, TN 37115, (615) 868-7990) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WITH A WARRANTY REPAIR. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER INDICATED THAT THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT WAS NO LONGER AVAILABLE AND THE VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPAIRED BEFORE THE CAMPAIGN ENDED ON AUGUST 31, 2017. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NO DOCUMENTATION FROM THE MANUFACTURER PERTAINING TO THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WERE AWARE THAT THE FAILURE WAS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THERE WAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ON THE BRAKE SYSTEM. THE CONTACT REFUSED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE AND INDICATED THAT THE CONTACT NEEDED TO REPLACE THE PART. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000.
