TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE CRASHED INTO AN EMBANKMENT AT 70 MPH AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH SIX AIR BAGS, NONE OF WHICH DEPLOYED. THE POLICE CAME AND TOOK A REPORT STATING THE AIR BAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A BROKEN THUMB AND A PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE CHEST AND SHOULDERS. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD. THE AIR BAG FAILURE WAS NOT INSPECTED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 97,000. UPDATED 7/11/12 *CN THE PASSENGER WAS INJURED AS WELL. UPDATED 07/25/12 UPDATED 08/08/12
BACK IN APRIL THE DRIVER SUN VISOR BROKE, WE REMOVED BECAUSE I COULDN'T SEE WHEN I WAS DRIVING, AND THEN ABOUT 1 WEEK AGO THE PASSENGER SUN VISOR BROKE ALSO. I CALLED THE 1-800-331-4331 FOR CUSTOMER'S CONCERNS AND THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. THIS IS GOING TO COST ME ABOUT $300. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND TOYOTA SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL ON THE VISORS. *TT

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING AT MULTIPLE SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURE WAS ALERTED OF THIS FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000. *TR
GOING DOWN THE STRAIGHT PART OF A STEEP HILL JUST PRIOR TO A CURVE, WENT TO USE THE BRAKES BUT THEY DIDN'T RESPOND. CAR KEPT SPEEDING UP SO I KEPT FOOT ON THE BRAKES AND ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE WHEEL TO THE RIGHT FOR THE CURVE, BUT CAR WOULDN'T SLOW DOWN SO I KEPT BRAKE PRESSED DOWN AND ENDED UP CRASHING INTO A CURB AND TREE. *TR
THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR DROPPED DOWN ALL OF SUDDEN AND IT WOULDN'T STAY UP AND MAKES THE DRIVING DIFFICULT. I PULLED THE CAR OVER AND REMOVED THE SUN VISOR THEN CONTINUED MY JOURNEY. IT IS A MANUFACTURING FAILURE, SO I SUGGEST THIS ISSUE BE LOOKED INTO SERIOUSLY AND RECALLED IF NECESSARY AS IT HAS A POTENTIAL TO BE FATAL IF IT HAPPENS. *TR
FIRST THE SUN VISOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE BROKE AND IT WOULDN'T STAY UP, WHICH CAUSED A LARGE BLIND SPOT RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME AND IT BECAME DANGEROUS TO DRIVE MY CAR. I TOOK IT INTO A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP, BOUGHT A NEW VISOR AND FIXED IT. A FEW WEEKS LATER THE PASSENGER SUN VISOR BROKE AND IT IS CAUSING A LARGE BLIND SPOT WHEN I AM LOOKING FOR TRAFFIC ON MY LEFT SIDE. *TR
DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR DISLODGED FROM ROOF AND I TRIED TO PUT BACK IS JUST FALLING BACK. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED FROM THIS. *KB
I HAVE A 2008 TCH WITH 53K MILES AND THE VSC WARNING LIGHT, BRAKE LIGHT AND SEVERAL OTHERS FIRST APPEARED ON A COLD MORNING DURING A CROSS COUNTRY TRIP FROM CA TO NC. A COMPLETE LOSS OF BREAKING AT 40 MPH IS A SCARY THING!!! BROUGHT IT TO DEALER. CLEARED THE CODE. WELL, ABOUT A WEEK LATER IN RALEIGH THE VSC WARNING LIGHT WAS ON WHEN WE ARRIVED AND THE DEALER RECORDED CODE C1391, ABNORMAL PRESSURE INSIDE THE ACCUMULATOR. THE FIX, A NEW ABS ACCUMULATOR- WITH PARTS LABOR AND TAX JUST UNDER $2700- BECAUSE THE PART IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY- ONLY UP TO 3/36000! SEEMS LIKE IT SHOULD BE SINCE THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH TCH'S. NOW I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO OR WHO TO BELIEVE!!! BECAUSE I HAD NO CHOICE, I SHELLED OUT AND HAD TOYOTA OF APEX, NC REPLACE THE PART. MAN WAS I MAD! TOYOTA DIDN'T STEP UP AND OWN THIS CLEARLY DEFECTIVE PART. SMARTLY,K I ALSO PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM A VENDOR. WELL WOULDN'T YOU KNOW ABOUT 14 MONTHS LATER MY WIFE IS DRIVING WITH THE KIDS AND ALMOST WRECKED WHEN THE BRAKES WENT OUT, THIS TIME WITH NO WARNING! DIAGNOSIS? C1931 AGAIN!!!! I COULDN'T BELIEVE. THE SAME DEALER TOYOTA OF APEX, NC TOLD ME THE PART WAS NOW $3200. I HAD THEM PULL THE HISTORY. THEY SEEMED GENUINELY SHOCKED. EVEN PUT ME IN A LOANER FOR SEVERAL DAYS AND PROMISED TOYOTA WOULD TAKE CARE OF THIS ONE. HA! SHAME ON TOYOTA AGAIN- THEY SAID SORRY. PART OUT OF 12 MONTH WARRANTY... HERE'S YOUR BILL FOR 3200. AT THIS POINT, I KNEW IT WAS TIME TO GET RID OF THIS DEFECTIVE CAR BEFORE SOMEONE GOT SERIOUSLY INJURED OR EVEN WORSE, KILLED. TWO TIMES TOYOTA REFUSED TO ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY, I'M SURE IT WILL CATCH UP TO THEM EVENTUALLY. *TR
COMPLETE TRANSMISSION FAILURE IN UPPER GEARS CAUSING CAR TO SUDDENLY SLOW DOWN IN THE MIDST OF HEAVY TRAFFIC ON FREEWAY. DRIVER WAS ABLE TO DOWNSHIFT TO 3RD (AFTER NEARLY BEING HIT FROM THE REAR) AND SAFELY LEAVE ROADWAY BUT MANY DRIVERS WOULD NOT BE AS QUICK THINKING. THERE WAS NO WARNING OF ANY IMPENDING FAILURE. *TR
SUNVISOR ON DRIVERS SIDE WILL NOT STAY UP WHICH CAUSES A VISIBILITY ISSUE WHEN DRIVING. *TR
CLICKING/KNOCKING NOISE THAT CAN BE FELT THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL. MAY BE THE SAME INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT PROBLEM HAS PLAGUED OTHER TOYOTA MODELS. SYMPTOMS ARE THE SAME. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE FIXED IMMEDIATELY BY TOYOTA THROUGH A RECALL. *JB
THE SUN VISOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WILL NOT STAY UP CAUSING VISIBILITY ISSUES, ESPECIALLY FOR TALLER DRIVERS. THE PASSENGERS SIDE IS STARTING TO DROOP TOO SO I KNOW IT WON'T BE LONG BEFORE IT GOES TOO. TOYOTA DEALERSHIP WILL NOT REPLACE THIS AND IT WILL COST $150 PER SIDE PLUS TAX. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL, IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
AT 60,000 I NOTICED MY ENGINE RUNNING LOW/ BURNING OIL. I SINCE HAD 2 OIL CHANGES, NOW AT 66,600 MILES, 2,400 SINCE THE LAST SERVICE, MY DIPSTICK IS HALFWAY BETWEEN "MIN" AND "MAX" IT WAS AT "MAX" AFTER THE LAST OIL CHANGE. I HAVE BEEN IN COMMUNICATION WITH BERNARDI TOYOTA IN FRAMINGHAM MA WHO HAS BEEN HELPFUL HOWEVER I AM VERY CONCERNED REGARDING MY CAR STARTING TO BURN OIL AT A LOW MILEAGE. I ALSO PLAN TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH TOYOTA DIRECTLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR FRACTURED AND AS A RESULT, IT WAS HANGING AND IMPAIRING THE DRIVER'S VIEW OF THE ROADWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THE SUN VISOR ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS A 78,000.
THE TRUNK HAS A DEFECTIVE DESIGN, UPON OPENING THE TRUNK WITH THE REMOTE AND THEN LIFTING THE TRUNK LID, THE TRUNK LID DOES NOT FULLY OPEN. THIS RESULTED IN MY HEAD HITTING THE TRUNK LID A CAUSING A CUT TO MY HEAD AND A MILD CONCUSSION. I BELIEVE THAT THE SPRINGS IN THE TRUNK DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH FORCE TO OPEN THE TRUNK FULLY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS MELTING, DETERIORATING, AND TURNING INTO A STICKY SUBSTANCE. THE STICKY SUBSTANCE WAS LEAKING ONTO COMPONENTS ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE WINDSHIELD. IN ADDITION, THE DASHBOARD FAILURE PRODUCED A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD, WHICH IMPAIRED THE CONTACT'S VISION. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN MY CAR STARTED TO SLOW DOWN, I PUSHED ON THE ACCELERATOR AND GOT NOTHING, THE DASH BOARD LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE CAR COMPLETELY STALLED. THE COMPUTER SCREEN SAID TO "CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM AND CHECK VSC SYSTEM". I SAT FOR AWHILE AND TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR, IT DID START BUT IT WOULD MOVE, AND THEN IT DISPLAYED ON THE COMPUTER, " PUT CAR IN P" AND AGAIN THE MESSAGE READ CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM AND VSC SYSTEM. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER GOT INTO MY VEHICLE TO PUT IT ON THE ROLL BACK AND HE NOTICED THAT THE COMPUTER WAS SAYING THE SAME THING TO HIM, SO I KNOW I WASN'T GOING CRAZY. THE CAR WAS THEN TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT AND THEY CALL ME TO TELL ME THAT THE CAR IS RUNNING FINE AND THAT THERE IS NO PROBLEM!!! I AM FURIOUS, I BOUGHT THIS CAR BECAUSE OF TOYOTA'S REPUTATION, RELIABILITY AND SAFETY. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THE CAR!!! *TR
CAMRY 2008 HYBRID: VISOR SLOWLY DROPPED DOWN UNTIL FINALLY IT WILL NOT STAY UP. IT OBSCURES VISIBILITY AND I HAD TO TAKE IT DOWN TO DRIVE. NOW THE SUN OBSCURES VISIBILITY ! WHEN IS TOYOTA GOING TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS HAZARD ? I CAN SEE BY THE OTHER ENTRIES THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP WANTS $260 JUST FOR THE PART, THEN LABOR ON TOP OF THAT. RIDICULOUS. BEFORE THIS HAPPENED, THE FLOOR WAS WET. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS THE AIR CONDITIONER TUBES THAT WERE BLOCKED. THE FLOOR WAS WET AGAIN AFTER THE REPAIR. THEY SAID IT THE CAUSE THAT TIME WAS THE SUN ROOF TUBES BEING BLOCKED AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THAT SINCE IT WAS AFTER THE WARRANTY. SO I DID. HAD TO. NOW THERE IS MOLD UNDER MY CARPETING. THE DEALERSHIP NOW WANTS $1000 TO REPLACE THE CARPET. THERE WERE MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH THEIR COMMUNICATION AND THEY WERE NOT TRUTHFUL. I DIDN'T GET A CUSTOMER SURVEY. HOW CONVENIENT FOR THEM. THIS IS MY FIRST AND LAST TOYOTA. GOING BACK TO FORD. *TR

THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED, BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 38,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE AT THE DEALER FOR A ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE STRUTS ON THE FRONT AND REAR WERE LEAKING AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR WOULD NOT STAY UP/CLOSED. HAD VEHICLE REPAIRED. FOUR MONTHS LATER PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISOR HAD SAME PROBLEM. THERE IS A VISION PROBLEM WITH THE VISOR NOT BEING ABLE TO BE CLOSED. TWO SUN VISOR PROBLEMS WITHIN MONTHS OF EACH OTHER. *TR
VEHICLE DASH STARTED MELTING AND BECAME REFLECTIVE. THIS IS HAZARDOUS SITUATION. NOW IT IS A STAGE WHEN DRIVING UNDER SUN BECOMES UNBEARABLE AND REFLECTION IS SO BAD THAT IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE. DASH IS COMPLETELY MELTED AND BEING POOR DESIGN. DEALER SAID IT HAPPENS IN 1 OUT OF 10 CARS. *TR
DRIVER SIDE VISOR BROKE. THE VISOR'S SUSPENSION NO LONGER HOLDS VISOR UP AND ITS AFFECTING VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING. CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS CONTACTED BUT THEY REFUSED TO TAKE CARE OF IT AND WANT TO CHARGE $120 TO FIX IT. THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS THROUGH OUT THE INTERNET OF UNHAPPY CUSTOMERS WHO ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME THING. IT'S UNFAIR THAT OWNERS ARE EXPECTED TO PAY FOR A PART THAT SHOULD OBVIOUSLY BE RECALLED. TOYOTA WON'T ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY AND REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS PROBLEM. MODELS 07, 08 AND 09 SEEM TO BE THE ONES AFFECTED. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE CONSIDER AS SUCH. I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT SOMETHING BLOCKING MY VISION WHILE DRIVING. *TR

THE SUN VISOR HAS BROKEN FROM IT'S MOUNT UNDER LIGHT USAGE. *TR
DASHBOARD IS DEFECTIVE AND MELTING UNDER THE HOT SUN ,IS STICKY TO THE TOUCH AND SHINY GLARE AFFECTS DRIVING THE INSIDE OF THIS CAR HAS ONLY BEEN CLEANED BY US (NEVER A DETAIL) ALWAYS USE A DAMP RAG NEVER ANY CHEMICAL CLEANERS. *TR
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE TIRES APPROX EVERY 20,000 MILES. TYPE AND MAKE OF TIRE DO NOT SEEM TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE. I HAVE ROTATED AND ALIGNED IT EVERY 5K MILES. TIRES GET WORN ON THE INSIDE VERY QUICKLY, NO ADJUSTMENT BY THE ALIGNMENT SHOPS SEEM TO MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE. *TR
THE SUN VISOR ON THE DRIVER SIDE JUST FLOPPED DOWN. IT STARTLED ME AND I ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT. THE SUN VISOR IS UNABLE TO STAY UP BY ITSELF, AND IT REMAINS FLOPPY AND HANGS STRAIGHT DOWN. I AM SHORT, AND I HAVE MY SEAT ALL THE WAYS FORWARD AND IN THE HIGHEST POSITION; SO THE FLOPPY VISOR IS A VISUAL OBSTRUCTION TO DRIVING. THE ONLY WAY TO KEEP THE VISOR UP IS TO TIE IT AND WRAP THE TIE AROUND THE CEILING HAND HOLDER ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. SO, IF I'M DRIVING INTO THE SUN, I HAVE TO UNTIE IT; BUT BECAUSE IT HANGS STRAIGHT DOWN, IT BLOCKS MY TOTAL VISION. THE PROBLEM IS COMPOUNDED BECAUSE I LIVE IN FLORIDA AND I AM CONSTANTLY USING MY SUN VISOR YEAR ROUND. *TR
THE DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP, IMPAIRING VISIBILITY. I HAVE BEEN SWINGING IT OVER TO THE DRIVER WINDOW. THIS MUST BE A DESIGN/QUALITY PROBLEM THAT SURELY TOYOTA CAN CORRECT AND REPLACE WITHOUT COST TO THE OWNERS. I WOULD LIKE TO REPAIR IT MYSELF FOR NOW UNTIL A POSSIBLE RECALL COULD BE ENACTED. *TR
WAS REVERSING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE IN MY 2008 SOLARA AND WHEN I WENT TO SHIFT INTO DRIVE, THE CAR LURCHED SEVERAL TIMES AND THEN ACCELERATED. WHEN THE CAR TOOK OFF, I WAS UNABLE TO STOP IT ACCELERATING USING THE BRAKES. A PASSENGER PULLED UP ON THE PARKING BRAKE, LAUNCHING US INTO A SERIES OF TIGHT SPINS AND COLLIDING WITH CONCRETE BUMPERS IN THE LOT. WE WERE ABOUT TO HEAD OUT INTO A MAJOR ROADWAY WHEN THEY DID SO. ONCE OUT OF THE SPINS, THE CAR HAD COME TO ENOUGH OF A HALT THAT I COULD SHIFT INTO PARK AND TURN THE CAR OFF. IT WAS ONLY WHEN THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF THAT THE FRONT WHEELS (FWD) STOPPED TRYING TO TURN. WHEN WE EXAMINED THE CAR, THE ACCELERATOR WAS STUCK IN A DEPRESSED POSITION. THE WEATHER HAS BEEN FINE AND DRY FOR SEVERAL DAYS PREVIOUSLY, SO THE PAVEMENT WAS NOT WET. AS THE INCIDENT HAPPENED OVER ~15 SECONDS, WE CANNOT GIVE AN APPROXIMATE MPH THAT THE CAR SPED UP TO, BUT IT WAS AT LEAST 30MPH. AMAZINGLY, MY PASSENGERS AND I WALKED AWAY WITHOUT A SCRATCH AND SO DID EVERYONE ELSE IN THE PARKING LOT. HOWEVER, THE SOLARA NEEDS EXTENSIVE BODY WORK BEYOND THE OBVIOUS ACCELERATOR ISSUE DUE TO THE COLLUSIONS. TOYOTA HAS SENT AN ENGINEER OUT TO LOOK AT THE CAR, BUT HAS NOT GIVEN ANY SUPPORT OTHERWISE. THE ENGINEER INFORMED ME THAT HE FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR, BUT HE DID NOT EXAMINE THE POWERTRAIN IN DETAIL. TOYOTA HAS INFORMED ME THAT IT WILL BE 30 DAYS BEFORE THEY GIVE ME AN OFFICIAL REPORT. WHILE THE SOLARAS WERE NOT INITIALLY INCLUDED IN THE RECALLS FOR THE ACCELERATOR ISSUE, 2008 CAMRYS WERE AND A SOLARA IS BASICALLY A 2-DOOR CAMRY. THE RECALL SHOULD BE LOOKED AT FOR THE SOLARAS AS WELL. I DO NOT WANT TO BE DRIVING A CAR THAT CAN ENDANGER ME OR ANYONE ELSE ON THE ROAD. THIS INCIDENT, AS FRIGHTENING AS IT WAS, LUCKILY TOOK PLACE WHEN I WAS NOT ALREADY AT A HIGHER SPEED AND WAS IN A PARKING LOT. IT HAD THE POTENTIAL TO BE MUCH WORSE. *TR
2008 CAMRY BURNS OIL. NOTICED IT IN DEC 2011 AND DEALER INFORMED THAT I NEED TO BRING IT IN AND PAY FOR DIAGNOSTICS AS IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. DIDN'T NOTICE IT FOR A WHILE AND NOW AGAIN THE SAME PROBLEM AND MY CAR WAS TOTALLY OUT OF OIL 2200 MILES AFTER AN OIL CHANGE. ALL OIL CHANGES WERE DONE AT TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT EVERYTHING WAS FINE WITH THE CAR. SPOKE TO TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY SAID THAT I NEED TO PAY FOR DIAGNOSTICS AT A DEALERSHIP AND PAY FOR ANY EXPENSES TO FIX THE ISSUE. *TR
THE DRIVERS SIDE SUNVISOR SUDDENLY FELL DOWN AND WILL NO LONGER STAY UP. WE HAVE TO HOLD IT UP WHILE DRIVING OR KEEP IT TAPED UP WHICH PREVENTS US FROM USING IT WHILE THE SUN IS IN OUR EYES. I HAVE FOUND AN ONLINE FORUM WHERE MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR 2007-2008 CAMRYS. OTHERS ARE ALSO HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE SUNVISOR FALLING DOWN. THANKFULLY MINE IS UNDER WARRANTY AND IS BEING FIXED BY MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER SINCE WE PURCHASED THE PLATINUM WARRANTY. THIS IS A DANGEROUS HAZARD AND SHOULD BE RECALLED AND FIXED BY TOYOTA IMMEDIATELY. *TR
LETTER TO THE ADMINISTRATOR FROM CONGRESSMAN ISRAEL ON BEHALF OF ONE OF HIS CONSTITUENTS REGARDING THE SAFETY OF THE 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE SUN VISORS ON THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE WERE MANUFACTURED WITH DEFECTIVE PARTS. THE INADEQUATE DESIGN CAUSED THE SUN VISOR TO FALL DOWN AT RANDOM TIMES WITH THE INABILITY TO SECURE IT BACK IN TO PLACE.

FINALLY FELL OFF IN MY LAP. TOYOTA SAID THEY WERE AWARE OF OTHER COMPLAINTS, BUT WOULD NOT FIX FOR FREE BECAUSE OF EXPIRED WARRANTY. REPLACEMENT COSTS +$120.00. PASSENGER HEADLIGHT GOES OFF WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. YOU HAVE TO TURN THE LIGHTS OUT AND BACK ON SO THE HEADLIGHT WILL COME BACK ON. *TR
THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR MOUNT HAS BROKEN AND IT WILL NOT STAY UP. IT SERIOUSLY AFFECT THE VISIBILITY OF THE ROAD WHEN THE VISOR FALLS AT RANDOM TIMES. *TR
WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (MORE THAN 50 MPH), THE CAR VIOLENTLY SHAKES. THE CAR'S BRAKES WERE REPLACED AND THE ROTORS TURNED TWICE SINCE FIRST INCIDENT. I'VE BEEN RUNNING THIS CAR THIS WAY FOR MORE THAN 40K MILES SINCE FIRST INCIDENT. I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THIS BRAKE AND WARPED ROTOR PROBLEM ACCORDING TO THE INTERNET. *TR
THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR MADE A CRACKING NOISE, AND THEN CAME DOWN, AND STAYED IN THE DOWN POSITION, CAUSING US TO HAVE TO BEND OUR HEADS DOWN TO SEE OUT THE WINDOW AND ENDURING THE VISOR HITTING US IN THE FACE AND HEAD. TWO DAYS LATER WHILE LOWERING THE PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISOR, THE ENTIRE THING, WITH THE CLIPS FELL TO THE FLOOR. TOYOTA REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL, AS THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE-BECAUSE EVEN WEARING SUN GLASSES THERE IS A LOT OF GLARE. WHEN THE FIRST ONE BROKE, I WENT TO THE DEALER(PENN TOYOTA, ROSLYN NY) WHO TOLD ME THAT THE CAR IS NO LONGER ON WARRANTY-3 YEARS, 36,000 MILES WHICH IS TECHNICALLY TRUE AS THE CAR WAS BOUGHT IN MAY 2008, BUT HAS 33,000 MILES, AND THAT THE REPAIR WOULD COST $150.00. I DIDN'T DO IT THERE, BUT INSTEAD BROUGHT THE CAR TO MY OWN MECHANIC, RAILROAD AUTO CARE IN SYOSSET, WHERE IT ALSO COST $150.00. THE PASSENGER SIDE VISOR HAS NOT YET BEEN FIXED-I HAVE TO DECIDE WHAT TO DO. $300 FOR TWO SUN VISORS IS A LOT OF MONEY. PLEASE ORDER A RECALL-THE MECHANIC SAYS THAT THE CLIPS THAT HOLD THE SUN VISOR ARE OF POOR DESIGN, AND THE DEALER'S HE HAS SPOKEN WITH ARE SEEING A LOT OF THIS PROBLEM. 4 TIRES WORN OUT ABOUT 28000 MILES. I HAD TO REPLACE THEM THIS IS BECAUSE OF SUSPENSION SYSTEM PROBLEM THAT WEARS OUT THE TIRES VERY FAST. HAVING WHEEL ALIGNMENT DOES NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY MY SUN VISOR JUST FLOPPED DOWN FOR NO REASON OBSTRUCTING MY VIEW OF THE ROAD. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND EXAMINED THE VISOR AND NOTICED IT WOULD NOT GO BACK UP.IT LOOKS LIKE THE SPRINGS IN THE VISOR BROKE. THEY WOULD NOT BACK UP THEIR DEFECTIVE VISOR. BUT OVER ALL THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE BROUGHT UP WITH TOYOTA. I LOST MY VIEW OF THE ROAD AND COULD OF KILLED SOMEONE.
