THE DASH OF THE CAR HAS CRACKS AND IS EXTREMELY STICKY. AS IF IT WERE SLOWLY MELTING. THERE ARE CRACKS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WHICH I FEEL ARE UNSAFE WITH THE AIR BAG IN THAT POSITION. *TR
AUGUST OF 2012, I NOTICED A STICKY RESIDUE DEVELOPING ON THE DASHBOARD OF MY 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. I HAVE SINCE TRIED TO CLEANING IT OFF, BUT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO CLEAN. THE PROBLEM GOT WORSE THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AS IT STARTED DEVELOPING A SHINE ON THE DASHBOARD CAUSING A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD WHILE I DRIVE DURING THE DAY. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE FOR ME AND MY FAMILY AS IT MAKES VISIBILITY MUCH MORE DIFFICULT. *TR
I HAVE ALWAYS HAD ABNORMAL ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION SUCH THAT I HAVE HAD TO ADD QUARTS OF OIL AFTER 2,000-4,000 DRIVING MILEAGE WHICH HAS BEEN ALWAYS FAR BEHIND OIL-FILTER REPLACEMENT SERVICES AT 5,000 MILES. MY WIFE'S TOYOTA COROLLA DOES NOT HAVE THIS CONSUMPTION ISSUE AT ALL EVEN THOUGH IT IS ONE YEAR OLDER. ULTIMATELY, IN 2016, I TOOK MY CAMRY TO A TOYOTA CENTER AND THEY SUGGESTED TO RUN AN ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST (WHICH TOYOTA HAD OFFERED IN A RECALL DUE TO A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM IN THE ENGINE -- EITHER IN PISTONS OR RINGS, OR BOTH). I ACCEPTED TO RUN THE TEST, AND AFTER THE TEST, THE TECHNICIAN CONFIRMED THAT THE TEST DID NOT SHOW SIGNIFICANT ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION, AND THEY DID NOT FIX MY CAR. THIS ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM IS A TOYOTA MANUFACTURING FAULT AND MUST BE FIXED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE BY TOYOTA AT ANY TIME WITHOUT ANY DEADLINE. TOYOTA ANNOUNCED 2008 CAMRYS HAVE THIS PROBLEM, AND THE PROBLEM IS THERE IN ALL 2008 CAMRY CARS NOT ONLY IN DIAGNOSED CARS. TECHNICIANS MAY MAKE MISTAKES IN RUNNING THE TEST; HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURED PIECES (PISTON AND/OR RING IN MY CASE) ARE ALL FAULTY IN ALL 2008 CAMRYS. REQUESTING TO RUN A TEST IS NOT REASONABLE AT ALL FOR A CAR TYPE THAT IS LEGITIMATELY PROVEN BY THE MANUFACTURER OR NUMEROUS CUSTOMERS TO POSSESS A FAULTY PIECE OR PIECES. I CALLED THE TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICES NORTH AMERICA DURING THE PAST SEVERAL DAYS (FEBRUARY 24 AND 26, 2018) AND TALKED TO SEVERAL RANKING CUSTOMER SERVICES AGENTS UP TO A SUPERVISOR. ALL OF THEM FAILED TO RESOLVE MY ISSUE AS I REQUESTED THEM TO FIX MY CAR MANUFACTURING PROBLEM AT TOYOTA EXPENSE. ALL IN ALL, I STRONGLY URGE TOYOTA TO FIX THIS ISSUE TIMELESSLY BEFORE PEOPLE FALL INTO BIGGER AND FAR MORE SERIOUS TROUBLES OF LOSING THE CAR ENGINES (AND CONSEQUENT SAFETY ISSUES) AND FILING NUMEROUS LAWSUITS AGAINST TOYOTA.
DASHBOARD IS MELTING TOOK TO DEALERSHIP, TOYOTA STATED THEY WILL PAY 300. AN MY COST 1100. *TR
DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR SUPPORT FAILED WHILE DRIVING. WENT TO TILT IT DOWN AND BROKE LOOSE TO A POINT WHERE IT JUST HANGS STRAIGHT DOWN AND SWINGS FREELY AND COMPLETELY BLOCKING MY VISION. HAD TO HOLD IT WITH ONE HAND UNTIL I WAS SAFELY OFF THE ROADWAY. THERE IS NO WAY IT WILL SUPPORT ITSELF, SO I HAD TO TAPE OR WIRE IT UP WHICH MAKES IT USELESS BLOCKING SUN (IT'S PURPOSE.) *TR
SUN VISOR BROKE WITH ONLY 35500 MILES ON THE CAR. DRIVING EAST TO WORK AND WEST HOME IS SERIOUSLY DANGEROUS WITHOUT THIS VISOR, WHICH WAS USED UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS (FLIPPED DOWN IN THE MORNING, UP WHEN PARKED AND FLIPPED DOWN AGAIN IN THE EVENING). IT'S DANGEROUS ENOUGH DRIVING THROUGH 2 CONSTRUCTION ZONES IN THE MORNING, BUT NOW I HAVE TO USE ONE HAND TO SHIELD MY EYES DUE TO THE GRADES I DRIVE AND LOCATION OF SUN IN THE SKY. THIS IMPEDES MY DRIVING. I FOUND THE BROKEN VISOR HANGING USELESS AFTER WORK ON DAY AND COULDN'T TAPE OR RIG IT UP SO HAD TO PULL IT OFF IN ORDER TO SEE OUT THE WINDSHIELD! WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF THIS BROKE DURING RUSH HOUR IN CONSTRUCTION? PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. SEEMS LIKE A SIMPLE QUALITY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE FIXED OR RECALLED DUE TO POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS DRIVING SITUATION. PLUS IT'S A $32,000 CAR AND QUALITY SHOULD BE BETTER THAN THAT OF A $12,000 CAR. *TR
MY DASHBOARD IS MELTING. I AM NOT SURE EXACTLY WHEN IT STARTED BUT I NOTICED A VERY BAD GLARE ON MY WINDSHIELD A COUPLE OF YEARS AFTER WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THE GLARE KEPT GETTING WORSE AND WAS MAKING IT VERY HARD TO SEE OUT OF THE WINDSHIELD. IN 2012 WE REALIZED THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS DISINTEGRATING. IF YOU TOUCH THE DASHBOARD YOUR HANDS WILL STICK TO IT AND THE BLACK STICKY SUBSTANCE WILL STAY ON YOUR HANDS UNTIL YOU WASH WITH SOAP AND WATER. I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM UNTIL TODAY WHEN I SAW A NEWS ARTICLE ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. NOT ONLY AM I CONCERNED ABOUT THE LACK OF VISIBILITY DUE TO THE GLARE, I AM ALSO CONCERNED ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF TOXIC FUMES FROM THE MELTING DASHBOARD INSIDE MY VEHICLE. WE HAVE SPOKEN TO MULTIPLE VEHICLE MECHANICS AND THEY ALL SAY THE DASHBOARD NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. AT THIS POINT WE HAVE PURCHASED A DASHBOARD COVER TO HELP WITH THE GLARE BUT I FEEL THE DASHBOARD IS A DEFECTED PRODUCT AND TOYOTA SHOULD REPLACE IT AT NO COST TO ME. *JS
OPENED DOOR ON DRIVER SIDE, ATTEMPTED TO PULL SUNVISOR DOWN AND IT BROKE AND WOULD NOT STAY UP. TOOK TO DEALER AND PAID TO GET IT FIXED. NOW TWO YEARS LATER SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SAME SUN VISOR, BROKEN WILL NOT STAY UP, DANGLING. *TR
THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR HAS DROPPED AND WILL NOT STAY IN PLACE. THIS IS OBSTRUCTING MY VIEW. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS. IT HAS HIT ME IN THE HEAD. I OPENED IT AND SAW THAT MANY PIECES ON THE INSIDE HAD MELTED! *TR
BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT SUN VISOR FAILED. THE LEFT SUN VISOR FELL IN SUCH A POSITION AS TO BLOCK THE DRIVER'S VISION. I HAD TO DRIVE HOME FROM WORK HOLDING THE SUNVISOR UP AND HAVE NOW TAPED IT IN THE UP POSITION TO PREVENT IT FROM FALLING DOWN AGAIN. I ALSO HAD TO TAPE THE RIGHT SUN VISOR IN THE UP POSITION SO AS NOT TO BLOCK MY FIELD OF VIEW. *TR
SUNVISOR FAILED. FLOPPED DOWN OFF OF ITS MOUNT WHILE DRIVING CAUSING QUITE A SURPRISE. FORTUNATELY, TRAFFIC WAS CLEAR AND VEHICLE CONTROL WAS MAINTAINED. *TR
THE DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISOR FELL DOWN WHILE DRIVING AND BLOCKED MY VISION OF THE ROAD. IT WOULD NOT STAY UP AND I HAD TO TIE IT UP TO PREVENT IT FROM BLOCKING MY VISION. IT COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. *TR
I HAVE A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY WITH A CERTIFIED WARRANTY. THERE IS A CLICKING SOUND IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN TURNING. I TOOK IT TO TOYOTA AND THEY SAID THAT IT NEEDED A GREASE KIT FOR THE STEERING SHAFT ASSEMBLY AND THIS WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. IF THEY REPLACED THE STEERING SHAFT, IT WOULD BE COVERED. THEY ALSO STATED THIS COULD HAPPEN AGAIN AND I MAY HAVE TO DO A GREASE SERVICE AGAIN DOWN THE ROAD. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC AND ASKED THEM WHAT THEY THOUGHT AND THEY FOUND THAT THE 2007 HAD ISSUES WITH THE STEERING SHAFT ASSEMBLY AND THE REMEDY WAS TO REPLACE THE STEERING SHAFT WITH AN UPDATED PART. THEY RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT AS IT WOULD OCCUR AGAIN. I COMMUNICATED WITH TOYOTA CORPORATE AND THE LOCAL TOYOTA AND THEIR POSITION WAS FIRM THAT THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE TO REPLACE THE STEERING SHAFT UNDER WARRANTY TERMS. THEY ALSO STATED THAT THIS SHOULD NOT CAUSE ANY ISSUES IF I DID NOT DO THE GREASE KIT SO I DID NOT HAVE THEM PROVIDE THE SERVICE. LONG STORY SHORT, IT SOUNDS LIKE MY 2008 (WHICH WAS MANUFACTURED IN 2007) WAS ASSEMBLED WITH THE WRONG STEERING SHAFT PART BUT THEY HAVE CREATED A GREASE KIT TO AVOID HAVING TO REPLACE THIS UNDER WARRANTY. IS THERE ANY ADDITIONAL ACTION I CAN TAKE TO HAVE TOYOTA PROVIDE THE APPROPRIATE REMEDY TO THIS SUCH AS REPLACE IT WITH THE MORE UPDATED STEERING SHAFT? 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY, PURCHASED NEW IN DECEMBER 2007. FIRST OIL CHANGE DONE AT 2500 MILES, AT WHICH TIME SWITCH WAS MADE TO MOBIL 1 5-20W SYNTHETIC. OIL CHANGES DONE SINCE THEN AT APPROX EVERY 5500-6500 MILES. NOTICED EARLY JULY 2012 WHEN DOING ROUTINE OIL CHECK IT WAS ALMOST A QUART LOW. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME EVER NOTICING ANY OIL CONSUMPTION BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. NO OIL NOTED AROUND EXHAUST PIPE, NO OIL LEAKS APPARENT IN ENGINE OR ON GARAGE FLOOR. LATE JULY, AFTER OIL CHANGE AT 76,220 MI, UNTIL THE NEXT OIL CHANGE APPROX 1.5 QTS OF OIL WERE ADDED. AT THAT NEXT OIL CHANGE LATE NOV 2012 (81,788MI) IT WAS STILL ALMOST A QUART LOW. OIL CONSUMPTION DOES NOT SEEM TO OCCUR AT ALL UNTIL AFTER FIRST 2500 MI ARE DRIVEN ON NEW OIL. ALSO SEEMS TO HAVE SLOWED SOME DURING THE WINTER MONTHS: ONLY ADDED 1 QT FROM LATE NOV UNTIL RECENTLY CHANGED ON 3/23/13 AT 87,500 MI. AT THIS TIME IT WAS AGAIN ALMOST A QUART LOW AT OIL CHANGE. YESTERDAY, WITH A LITTLE LESS THAN 3000 MI ON THE CAR SINCE THE LAST OIL CHANGE (ON 3/23/13, 87,500 MI) I ADDED HALF A QUART OF OIL. WE HAVE 2 OTHER, BUT OLDER, DIFFERENT MODEL TOYOTAS AND NEITHER USES OIL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND TO ACCELERATION ATTEMPTS. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE ON THE SHOULDER AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE THEN BECAME ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE POLICE AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORTED TO THE SCENE TO ASSIST WITH EXTINGUISHING THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000. SUNVISOR HAS LOST ALL TENSION AND JUST HANGS STRAIGHT DOWN INTERFERING WITH VISIBILITY ON DRIVER'S SIDE. TOYOTA WILL NOT ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY WHEN I CALLED AND DISCUSSED IT WITH THEM AT THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER ALTHOUGH I HAVE READ THIS IS A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM WITH CAMRY 2008. HAD TO REMOVE SUNVISOR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SUN VISOR WOULD NOT HOLD IN THE UPWARD POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE A CLIP TO HOLD THE VISOR IN PLACE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. DASH BOARD AND STEERING WHEEL IS MELTING AND THE DASH IS CAUSING A TERRIBLE GLARE ON DRIVERS WIND SHIELD MAKING VISIBILITY HARD . HANDS TEND TO STICK TO THE STEERING WHEEL. I DID BUY A COVER TO HELP WITH THIS.
DASHBOARD IS MELTING, VERY STICKY AND MAKES A REFLEXION ON THE WINDSHIELD THAT MAKE IT VERY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE. SUN VISOR DRIVER SIDE DOES NOT STAY UP,SUDDENLY FAILS TO WORK PROPERLY CAUSING EXTREMELLY DIFICULT TIME FOR DRIVING. BOTH ISSUES PUT THE LIFE OF THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS IN DANGER. *JS
THE DASHBOARD GETS EXTREMELY SOFT AND STICKY WHEN THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR GETS HOT (>90 DEGREES) AND CAUSES A BAD GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD THAT MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE WHEN DRIVING. *TR
I FOUND THE PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISOR IS BROKEN CAUSED BY NOTHING. THE VISOR DOES NOT STAY IN PLACE. INSTEAD IT IS DANGLING, FLOPPING AROUND TO AFFECT VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING. IT LOOKS LIKE THE VISOR PART IS OPEN SO THE HINGE CAN NOT WORK AS DESIGNED. I AM NOT SURE IT IS RELATED TO TEXAS HOT SUMMER BUT CERTAINLY THIS IS A QUALITY ISSUE THAT TOYOTA SHOULD RECALL OR FIX THE PROBLEM. I AM REPORTING THIS TO HERE SINCE I BELIEVE IT AFFECTS SAFETY ON THE ROAD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR BROKE AND WAS HANGING DOWNWARD. DUE TO THE BROKEN SIDE SUN VISOR, THE DRIVER'S VIEW WAS OBSTRUCTED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 32,100.
THE SUN VISOR AT THE DRIVER SIDE SUDDENLY FELL OFF AND BLOCKED THE VISION. IT DIDN'T STICK TO ITS ORIGINAL POSITION. FINALLY I HAVE TO TAKE IT OFF AS IT WAS BLOCKING THE REAR VIEW MIRROR. *TT
BOTH SUN VISORS GAVE WAY IN MY FAIRLY NEW CAMRY ONLY AFTER 3-4 YEARS OF USE. I KEEP MY TOYOTAS 6 YEARS USUALLY AND NEVER HAD THIS ISSUE. VISOR HAS ALWAYS SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO BREAK EVER SINCE I OWNED IT. CHEAP PART. *TR
MY 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY THAT I PRUCHES FOUR MONTHS AGO WITH ONLY 31000 MILES, THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR FLIPPES DOWN WHILE DRIVING BLOCKING MY VIEW. SO I TOOK MY CAR BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE AT FIRST THEY DIDNT WANT TO FIX THE PROBLEM, SAYING IT WASNT COVER UNDER MY WARRENTY, BUT WITH SOME HELP FROM ONE OF THE MANGER CALLING THE WARRENTY COMPANY THEY WANT AHEAD AND REPLACE BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER. *TT
I WAS DRIVING MY TOYOTA CAMRY HOME FROM WORK, WHEN MY ENGINE STARTING SMOKING AND ALL THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD IT TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP TO BE CHECKED OUT AND WAS TOLD THAT MY WATER PUMP HAD FROZE UP, CAUSING MY MOTOR AND EVERYTHING UNDER THE HOOD TO BE BURN UP. MY HEAT INDICATOR LIGHT DIDN'T NOT COME ON AT ANYTIME. IF I HAD KNOWN THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE PUMP WOULD HAVE HAD THE CAR CHECKED OUT. I WAS TOLD MY TOYOTA THAT IT WAS NOT THEIR PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE AND LOW OIL WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE CONSUMED .9 QUARTS OF OIL EVERY 1,200 MILES. THE MANUFACTURER DISPATCHED AN ENGINEER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT WHILE THE FAILURE WAS UNDESIRABLE, IT WAS NOT HAPPENING AT A DANGEROUS RATE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 64,000. *TR

BOTH OF MY SUN VISORS HAVE BROKEN ON MY 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. I HAVE ONLY OWNED THE CAR FOR 9 MONTHS. *TR
THE SUN VISOR FOR THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER BECAME LOOSE AT NO FAULT TO THE CONSUMERS AND IT WON'T STAY UP. WHEN MY CAR WAS IN WARRANTY THE DEALER "FIX" THE PROBLEM BUT IT BROKE AGAIN. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS IT BLOCKS MY VIEW BECAUSE THE SUN VISOR KEEPS PROPPING BACK DOWN. WHEN I ASK THE DEALER TO FIX IT AGAIN, THEY WANTED 120 DOLLARS TO FIX EACH SUN VISOR! READING OTHER PEOPLE COMPLAINTS, IT SEEMS ALL THE MODEL OF CAMRY FROM 2007- 2011 HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS...YET NO FIX FROM TOYOTA. TOYOTA QUALITY= DECLINING. IT SEEMS LIKE TOYOTA AND THE DEALERSHIP IS MAKING MONEY OFF OF DEFECTS AND REFUSAL TO COMMIT TO QUALITY CONTROL TO SUN VISOR. REMINDS ME AND OTHERS OF THE "UNINTENTIONAL" ACCELERATION THAT TOYOTA REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGES THAT LED TO DEATHS AND INJURY UNTIL THE C.E.O OF TOYOTA GOT QUESTIONED BY CONGRESS. ONLY THEN, TOYOTA ACKNOWLEDGES THE PROBLEM. IN THAT CASE THE ACCELERATION WOULD BECOME "STUCK" CAUSING THE CAR TO ACCELERATES. LAST CAR I WOULD BUY FROM TOYOTA UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS FIXED FREE OF CHARGES TO ALL CUSTOMERS. HONDA, HYUNDAI, FORD, GM ANYONE? *JS
THE TRUNK LATCH RELEASE BUTTON OVERING HAS BECOME STICKY AND GOOEY MAKING THE LOCK RELEASE BUTTON INOPERABLE. *TR
DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP. DEALERSHIP WANTS OVER $200 TO REPAIR. CAR ONLY HAS 36,000 MILES ON IT. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND TOYOTA SHOULD REPAIR FOR FREE. THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE DEVICE. *TR

RESEARCH ONLINE HAS PROVEN TO ME THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH THESE MODEL YEAR (AND 2007 MODEL YEAR) CAMRYS AND THEY DO REPRESENT A DRIVING HAZARD, PARTICULARLY IF AND WHEN THEY FLOP DOWN UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE IN HEAVY, URBAN TRAFFIC AND THE LIKE. *JS

THIS IS THE THIRD TIME A VISOR HAS BROKE ON THIS VEHICLE AND SEARCHING ONLINE I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAINT WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL OF VEHICLE. NO UNDUE STRESS WAS PUT ON THE VISOR. DISCUSSED WITH THE PARTS DEPARTMENT AT TOYOTA AND THEY ADMITTED THAT IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM. *TR

THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
MY DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISOR BROKE ABOUT SIX MONTHS AGO. I WENT TO THE TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND I WOULD HAVE TO PURCHASE IT. IT WAS ABOUT $160 TO GET THE PART AND INSTALLED. I BOUGHT IT ON EBAY FOR UNDER $100 AND INSTALLED IT MYSELF. IT WASN'T DIFFICULT AND TOOK UNDER 5 MINUTES TO DO. NOW, THE PASSENGER SIDE BROKE IN THE SAME SPOT THE OTHER VISOR DID. HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN? I HAD MY LAST CAR FOR 10 YEARS AND THE VISORS NEVER BROKE AND MY HUSBAND HAS A TOYOTA FROM 2007 AND IT HASN'T BROKEN. THIS IS DEFECTIVE EQUIPMENT. *TR

MY DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISOR DECIDE TO QUIT WORKING WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND SUDDENLY COVER MY VISIBILITY. I HAVE TO STOP ON THE SIDE ON THE ROAD AND TRY SEVERAL TIME TO PUT IT BACK. FINALLY I FRUSTRATED REMOVE AND PUT IT ON THE PASSENGER SEAT. TOYOTA SHOULD DO BETTER JOB ON THAT BECAUSE I WAS ABOUT TO BE INVOLVE INTO AN ACCIDENT. *TR
WHILE ADJUSTING THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR THE VISOR BROKE AND WOULD NO LONGER STAY UP IN EITHER POSITION. IT JUST DANGLED DOWN AND SEVERELY RESTRICTED THE DRIVER'S VISION. THERE WAS NO WAY TO TEMPORARILY FIX THE VISOR TO MAKE THE CAR SAFE FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE TRIP, AND REPAIR NECESSITATED REPLACING THE ENTIRE VISOR AT A COST OF $140. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH CAMRYS AND THE REPAIR COST COULD DETER PEOPLE FROM REPLACING THE VISOR, RESULTING IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION, AS VISIBILITY IS VERY POOR WITH THE VISOR DANGLING DOWN IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VISOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 54,000.
I'M REPORTING ON MY 08 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE DASHBOARD HAS A SHINE TO IT AND IS STICKY. IT HAS BEEN GETTING WORST OVER THE PAST 2 YEARS. IT HAS GOTTEN TO THE POINT WHERE I CAN'T EVEN WIPE THE DASHBOARD OFF TO CLEAN IT. I HAVE TO BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL AROUND THE DASHBOARD OR BITS AND PIECES OF THE VINYL WILL COME OFF EXPOSING THE FOAM LAYER UNDERNEATH. THIS HAS ALREADY HAPPENED BY MY DRIVER SIDE AC VENT WHILE CLEANING THE DASH OVER A YEAR AGO. THE SHINE OF THE DASHBOARD CAUSES A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD FROM THE SUN AND ONCOMING CARS AT NIGHT. I CONTACTED TOYOTA'S CUSTOMER SERVICE AND ALSO MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP BOTH WHICH REFUSED TO ADMIT THAT IT WAS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND WOULD NOT REPLACE OR DISCOUNT ANY REPAIRS. HOPEFULLY THIS WILL BE FIXED AND ANYONE ELSE WHO IS EXPERIENCING THESE PROBLEM AND MYSELF CAN HAVE PIECE OF MIND OF OUR SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OUR PASSENGERS NOT TO MENTION OUR INVESTMENT. *TR
THE CLIP IN MY DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR FAILED WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE, CREATING A BIG SAFETY ISSUE. THE VISOR WOULD NO LONGER STAY UP BECAUSE A DEFECTIVE CLIP BY THE HINGE FAILED. THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD OF THE CAR IS MELTING. IT IS VERY STICKY AND SOFT.IT CANNOT BE TOUCHED. IT APPEARS WET AND SLICK AND IS MAKING A GLARE APPEAR WHEN YOU LOOK OUT OF THE FRONT WINDOW. *JS
I WAS IN A MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT HITTING THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME WHICH HAD COME TO AN ABRUPT STOP. MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, CAUSING MY TO HIT MY HEAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND MY KNEE ON THE DASHBOARD.
