I HAVE A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY AND THE DASHBOARD SEEMS TO BE MELTING AND MAKING IT HARD TO SEE ON A SUNNY DAY. I HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR 4 YEARS AS IT HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. I WAS WONDERING HOW I CAN GET THE SITUATION FIXED AS IT IS BECOMING DANGEROUS FOR ME TO DRIVE . WHAT ARE MY NEXT STEPS AS THIS HAS BEEN A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. BRAKES FAIL TO WORK IN MAJORITY OF DRIVING CIRCUMSTANCES. VSC SYSTEM WARNING INDICATED AND BRAKES FAIL TO FUNCTION CAUSING NEAR FATAL ACCIDENT
VSC LIGHT COMES ON AND BEEPS AFTER 3 YEARS OF BEING REPLACED BY TOYOTA UNDER WARRANTY IT HAPPEN AGAIN - THE ABS BREAKS ARE NOT THERE AND A CONTINUOUS BEEP SOUNDS. I WAS QUOTED 1600 TO FIX ALTHOUGH I DONT HAVE THE MONEY AND TOYOTA KNOWS OF THIS ISSUE 2008 TOY CAM HYBRID STATIONARY AND MOVING

THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER TOYOTA WORLD OF LAKEWOOD (1118 OCEAN AVE RT 88, LAKEWOOD, NJ 08701, (732) 364-9000) WHO INFORMED THEM OF A VOLUNTARY CUSTOMER SATISFACTION CAMPAIGN THAT ADDRESSED THE ISSUE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000. *LN*JB
MY DASHBOARD IS MELTING AND IS CREATING A VERY BAD GLARE IN SUNLIGHT OR DAYTIME OPERATIONS. I CALLED TOYOTA AND THEY SAID THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT IT'S EXPIRED NOW.
CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN GARAGE KEPT AND USE WINDSHIELD COVER WHEN LOCATED OUTSIDE. NOTICED THE DASH WAS VERY STICKY AND SHINY AFTER THE CAR HAD BEEN SITTING OUTSIDE. CALLED THE DEALER TO ASK ABOUT THE PROBLEM. THEY SAID THAT THEY KNEW OF THE PROBLEM BUT THAT MY CAR WAS NO LONGER COVERED BY WARRANTY OR BY THE WARRANTY EXTENSION. THEY RECOMMENDED THAT I FILE A COMPLAINT WITH TOYOTA CORPORATE. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH TOYOTA WHO SAID THEY WOULD INVESTIGATE. I GOT A CALL TODAY STATING THAT THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE VEHICLE. DON'Y KNOW WHY THEY WON'T FIX IT SINCE IT IS A KNOWN MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. THEY GLARE OFF THE DASH IS SO BAD THAT IT IS DIFFICULT TO SEE WHEN DRIVING. IT'S A REAL SAFETY CONCERN.
THIS ENGINE HAS BEEN BURNING WAY TOO MUCH OIL AND AFTER LOOKING AT COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM I REALIZED THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE SENT OUT A LETTER YEARS AGO IN 2016 I BELIEVE BUT I NEVER RECEIVED ANY TYPE OF NOTICE ABOUT THIS SO CALLED EXTENDED WARRANTY TO WHERE THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO FIX THE DEFECT PISTONS IN THE ENGINE. SO NOW THEY SAY IT IS PAST THE TIME FRAME AND MILES TO FIX IT AT THEIR COST. NOW IT IS BURNING MORE OIL AND GETTING WORSE AND TOYOTA WILL NOT FIX THEIR MISTAKE. BAD BUISNESS!
ENGINE KNOCK/RATTLE NOISE AT COLD STARTUP. LASTS 2 MINUTES UNTIL THE CAR WARMS UP..
THE AC DOES NOT BLOW COLD AIR AT ALL. THE ECO BUTTON DOESN'T WORK. WHEN PRESSED, THE CAR STALLS. THIS WAS WHILE THE CAR WAS PARKED. TOO AFRAID TO TRY WHILE DRIVING. VISIBILITY IS POOR. I'VE REPLACED THE BRAKES NUMEROUS SINCE ACHIEVING OWNERSHIP.
I HAVE HAD TO ADD OIL IN BETWEEN OIL CHANGES OVER THE PAST 5 YEARS, OFTEN TWICE BETWEEN CHANGES. AFTER BEING TOLD THERE WAS A RECALL OF THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE FROM A MECHANIC, I THEN FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS BEYOND THE LENGTH OF TIME TO GET IT REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL. I WAS THEN INFORMED THAT I SHOULD HAVE RECEIVED A LETTER FROM TOYOTA IN THE MAIL STATING THERE WAS A RECALL. I NEVER RECEIVED A LETTER ABOUT THIS RECALL. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN TOWN ABOUT THE ISSUE AND THEY SAID THEY COULD PERFORM AN OIL TEST ON IT TO SEE HOW MUCH IT WAS BURNING AFTER 1,500 MILES. UPON BRINGING IT BACK I WAS INFORMED THAT MY CAR HADN'T BURNED ENOUGH TO THEIR REQUIRED AMOUNT (AMOUNT NOT DISCLOSED TO ME) TO DO ANYTHING, BUT TOLD ME THAT I COULD ALWAYS COME BACK AND HAVE ANOTHER OIL TEST DONE. I FIND IT VERY DISTURBING THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE AND THAT THERE IS A CLAIM OF A LETTER BEING SENT TO ME WHEN I NEVER RECEIVED ONE. IT ALSO APPEARS THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS INDIVIDUALS WITH THIS SAME YEAR HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT IT. I AM WONDERING IF THERE HAS BEEN AN INVESTIGATION TO ANYTHING ABOUT THE SUPPOSED LETTERS THAT TOYOTA HAS CLAIMED TO MAIL OUT? IT IS OVERALL BAD BUSINESS ON TOYOTA'S PART TO NOT ENSURE THAT THEIR CUSTOMERS ARE TAKEN CARE OF ENOUGH TO WANT TO CONTINUE BUYING THEIR VEHICLES. WILL THINK TWICE BEFORE BUYING TOYOTA AGAIN. *TR
BRAKES FAIL AT RANDOM TIMES, CANNOT ADEQUATELY STOP CAR WHEN PROBLEM OCCURS. PROBLEMS OCCURS SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK, CAUSING NEAR ACCIDENTS MULTIPLE TIMES, INCLUDING WITH YOUNG PASSENGERS ON BOARD. VSC LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHTS APPEAR WHEN PROBLEM OCCURING.
THE DASH HAS BECOME VERY STICKY. NOT ONLY IS THIS BOTHERSOME AS I CAN NOT LAY ANYTHING ON IT WITHOUT IT STICKING SUCH AS PARKING PASSES AND SUCH NOR CAN I USE A SIN VISOR BECAUSE PART OF IT STUCK TO THE DASH BUT IT IS ALSO A SAFETY ISSUE. THE STICKY MELTED DASH CAUSES A BAD GLARE AND YOU CAN'T SEE VERY WELL OUT OF THE WINDSHIELD.
EARLIER THIS YEAR I STARTED NOTICING THAT THE DASHBOARD OF MY TOYOTA CAMRY 2008 HAS BECOME STICKY AND SHINY. INITIALLY I THOUGHT IT WAS BECAUSE I DIDN'T CLEAN IT. BUT AS I TRIED TO WIPE AND CLEAN, IT GOT WORSE BECAUSE OF THE STICKINESS. IT WAS ONLY AFTER I LOOKED IT UP ON GOOGLE THAT I LEARNED THAT DASHBOARDS SHOULD NEVER BECOME STICKY AND SHINY IN THE FIRST PLACE. I NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTICE ABOUT MY CAR BEING ONE OF THOSE MODELS THAT HAVE THIS ISSUE.
THE PROBLEM I AM HAVING WITH MY 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY IS THAT THE DASH IS MELTING LEAVING A VERY SHINNY LOOK TO IT. WHEN THE SUN HITS IT REFLECTS OFF THE GLASS MAKING IT DIFFUCULT TO SEE. AT NIGHT THE STREET LIGHTS AND ON COMMING TRAFFICE TIGHS ALSO REFLECT MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE. PLUS ITS VERY STICKY AND EVEYTHING THAT FLYS BY DUST LINT HAIR WILL STICK TO MY DASH, VERY UNAPPEALING AND DIRTY.
LOST POWER STEERING WHILE PARKING THE CAR, PS LIGHT ALSO BECAME ON. THE CAR BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER, BUT WAS ABLE TO COMPLETE PARKING JOB AS THE CAR WAS ALMOST IN PARKING POSITION. CALLED AAA AND TOWED THE CAR HOME (2PM, NO DEALER WAS OPEN) AND LATER DROVE TO A NEARBY DEALER (THE AAA DRIVER TOLD ME HOW TO HANDLE THE STEERING). THE INITIAL DIAGNOSTIC BY THE DEALER (STEVENS CREEK TOYOTA, SAN JOSE, CA) IS AN ECU FAILURE. DEALER TOLD ME THAT WE WERE LUCK AS IT IS VERY HARD TO CONTROL THE CAR WITH THIS PROBLEM. I WAS LUCKY THAT IT HAPPENED WHILE WE WERE PARKING THE CAR. IF IT HAPPENED ON HIGHWAY, IT CAN POTENTIALLY CAUSE CRASH FOR SURE. CAR IS 2008 CAMRY HYBRID, 105K MILE. WELL MAINTAINED, ALL MAINTENANCE WORK WERE DONE BY TOYOTA DEALER. WHAT MADE ME EXTREMELY CONCERNED IS THAT THIS CAR HAS A HISTORY OF CRITICAL SAFETY FUNCTION FAILURE IN THE PAST. 1) DRIVER SIDE WINDER SWITCH WAS OVERHEATED AND GENERATED A LOT OF SMOKES. DEALER SAID THE SWITCH HAS A DEFECT, AND I BELIEVE IT LED TO A RECALL LATER. 2) DRIVER SIDE WINDOW WIPER STOPPED MOVING WHILE DRIVING IN RAIN, LOST VISIBILITY IN SECONDS. DEALER SAID A DEFECT IN THE MOTOR CAUSE THE PROBLEM, BUT NOT SURE WHETHER IT LED TO A RECALL. 3) PS / ECU PROBLEM THAT MADE THE CAR HARD TO CONTROL. I THINK TOYOTA IS DOING EXTREMELY POOR ON THEIR CAR'S SAFETY. THE DEALER REPORT IS NOT DONE YET. WHEN BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT AS THE GEAR SHIFT WAS PUT IN REVERSE, THE ENGINE SPED UP RAPIDLY, OUT OF CONTROL AND THE CAR ENDED UP ABOUT 200' TO THE REAR THROUGH THE PARKING LOT, OVER 3 CONCRETE BUMPS AND ENDED UP ON A GRASSY AREA. NO ONE WAS HURT - LUCKILY. WAS THERE NOT A RECALL BY TOYOTA ABOUT TEN YEARS AGO OF 400,000 SIMILAR VEHICLES BECAUSE THE ENGINES WENT RACING OUT OF CONTROL? MANY DEATHS AND ACCIDENTS ATTRIBUTED TO IT? MY VEHICLE WAS NOT LISTED ON YOUR WEBSITE AS HAVING AN ACTIVE RECALL.
THE CAR WAS PARKED OUTSIDE ON THE DRIVE WAY AND AT 4AM ON 12/4/19 WHEN I WAS ABOUT TO GO TO WORK I REALIZED THE DASHBOARD HAD EXPLODED. NO SIGNS OF A BREAK IN BECAUSE THE CAR WAS LOCKED. I AM NOT SURE WHAT HAPPENED BUT I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES SINCE I GOT THIS CAR AND OUT OF A SUDDEN THE DASHBOARD JUST EXPLODES. WHAT IF THIS HAPPENED WHEN I WAS DRIVING? I AM CONCERN ABOUT ALL OTHER OWNERS OF SAME YEAR AND MODEL WHO ARE AT RISK OF SUCH EXPLOSION.
WHILE ON THE WAY BACK FROM A SHORT TRIP TO CALIFORNIA FROM ARIZONA, OUR "SERVICE ENGINE" WARNING LIGHT BECAME DISPLAYED ON OUR DASH ALONG WITH "CHECK VSC SYSTEM." THE BRAKING BECAME SOMEWHAT ERRATIC AND THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO "WANDER" MORE WITHIN THE LANE ON THE HIGHWAY CASING US TO REDUCE OUR SPEED. WHEN ARRIVING HOME WE MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE OUR VEHICLE SERVICED AND IT WAS FOUND TO HAVE A FAULTY ANTI LOCK BRAKE ACTUATOR THAT HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $2900.00. THE TOYOTA MELTING DASHBOARD IS HORRENDOUS. MY DASHBOARD IS SO GOOEY AND SHINY THAT ON ANY DAY WITH MILD SUN IT IS HARD TO SEE OUT THE WINDSHIELD BECAUSE OF THE REFLECTION/SHINE. I AM VERY WORRIED THIS WILL LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS NOT A COSMETIC ISSUE, IT IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT TOYOTA NEEDS TO ADDRESS.
VEHICLE NOTED TO BURN A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF OIL DRIVING LESS THAN 1,200 MILES. CONTACTED TOYOTA WHO INDICATED THEY DID DO AN EXTENSION TO FIX THE ISSUE BUT I WAS TOO LATE. I NEVER RECEIVED THE NOTIFICATION TO LEARN THEY HAD AN OLD ADDRESS FOR ME. I AM NOW HAVING TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE CANNOT AFFORD A NEW ONE AND HAVING TO PUT OIL IN EVERY 7-10 DAYS.

The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the dashboard needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. MESSAGE: 'CHECK VSC SYSTEM' 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID -UPON DRIVING THE CAR ON ANY ROAD FOR ABOUT 20-25 MINUTES, THE MESSAGE COMES UP. THE CAR BECOMES SLOW AND CAN STOP AT ANY MINUTE. THAT'S VERY DANGEROUS.
THE DASHBOARD AND SUN VISOR ARE MELTING. THE MELTED DASHBOARD IS GOOEY, DUST, DEBRIS, AND ANY INSECT LYING THERE GETS STUCK. THE MELTED DASHBOARD, DUST, DEBRIS, AND INSECTS REFLECT ON THE WINDSHIELD AND CREATE GLARE MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE THE ROAD. TOYOTA RESPONSE WAS THAT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE MELTING DASHBOARD EXPIRED IN 2017 AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT THE MELTING DASHBOARD. WE PROTECTED OUR DASHBOARD FROM SUN WITH A WINDSHIELD SUN SCREEN ALWAYS, SO THE PROBLEM TOOK LONGER TO OCCUR. THE SUN VISORS PLASTIC COMPONENTS MELTED AND SUN VISOR FELL OFF THE METAL SUPPORT. UNDER SUN AND GLARE HAVE TO USE HAND TO BLOCK UNMAKING IT DIFFICULT TO STEER CAR OR SEE ROAD. TOYOTA'S RESPONSE WAS TO BUY NEW SUN VISORS.
DRIVER SIDE VISOR FAILED CAUSING IT TO HANG DOWN AND OBSTRUCT VISIBILITY. I HAVE TO MOVE THE VISOR TO THE SIDE WHICH OBSTRUCTS MY VIEW OR I HAVE TO HOLD IT UP WITH ONE HAND.
THE DASHBOARD IN MY CAR, A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY, HAS STARTED TO MELT. IT IS STICKY AND DISCOLORED WITH A SLIGHT SHEEN. IT MAY POTENTIALLY MELT TO THE POINT WHERE IT STARTS TO REFLECT IN THE WINDOW.
THE DASHBOARD PAD HAS DETERIORATED WITHIN THE LAST TWO YEARS. IT IS GOOEY. WHEN I HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE AT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND MENTIONED IT, IT WAS NOT ADDRESSED. I CALLED TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS TWICE AND THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS A NOTIFICATION BUT IT HAS EXPIRED. SO, THEY WILL NOT HONOR A REQUEST TO REPLACE THE PAD. I NEVER RECEIVED THE NOTIFICATIONS THEY ALLEGE THEY SENT. THE PAD IS REALLY DANGEROUS SINCE IT REFLECTS OFF THE WINDSHIELD AND IS BLINDING WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY OR CITY STREETS. THE PART ITSELF COSTS OVER $1,000; I DO NOT KNOW WHAT LABOR AND TAX COSTS ARE. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS CAR AND HAVE MAINTAINED IT THROUGH TOFFICIAL OYOTA SERVICE.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE WARRANTY EXPIRED LAST YEAR. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 95,000.
MY TOYOTA CAMRY IS USING EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF ENGINE OIL. BEGINNING AT ABOUT 90000 MILES MY 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY LE EQUIPPED WITH THE 2AZ FOUR CYLINDER ENGINE BEGAN TO USE OIL. SUBSEQUENTLY, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER AND WAS TOLD I WAS TWO MONTHS OUT OF MY TEN YEAR WARRANTY AND ANY REPAIRS WOULD BE AT MY EXPENSE. TODAY, THE VEHICLE HAS 117000 MILES AND IS BURNING A QUART OF OIL EVERY 700 MILES. THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT TOYOTA SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CORRECTING AT THEIR EXPENSE.
THE OIL CONSUMPTION IS WAY TOO HIGH! MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN DOCUMENTED ON OTHER ONLINE FORUM. I HAVE TO REFILL MY OIL EVERY 2-3 DAYS. I NOTICED THIS ISSUE SIGNIFICANTLY WHEN MY CAR BEGAN DRIVING WIERD ONLY 2 WEEKS AFTER AN OIL CHANGE & WHEN I WENT TO MY MECHANIC, HE SAID THERE WAS NO MORE OIL IN MY CAR. MY CAR COULD HAVE STALLED ANYWHERE. THE FACT THAT THIS IS A WELL KNOWN BUT IGNORED ISSUE IS ABSURD
TOYOTA has known about this problem for years. They also had knowledge regarding a recall and an extended warranty. Unfortunately, I was not made aware of their extended warranty until it was too late. This vehicle has the melting dash problem which has gotten to a "dangerous" level. The glare on the windshield makes it unsafe for drivers and pedestrians who may be in an area which causes them to be obscured. I know this car is older, but my son who is using this as a cheaper method of transportation doesn't drive it much. It only now has 95,000 miles on it and has always been well maintained. The local dealer gave me a price of $2,500.00 to replace this dash. Also, in addition to the vision issue, I assume there will soon be problems with all the electronics contained in the dash area. I'm asking that the Federal Safety Board force Toyota to do the right thing, since they have told me they will not stand behind the produce. One of their representatives told me that with my history ( 8 or 9 new vehicles since 1990), they may make an exception since their extended warranty expired. They declined my request.

THE VEHICLE DECELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS RELEASED AND THE VIBRATION CEASED. NO WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO (FAMILY TOYOTA OF BURLESON 801 S BURLESON BLVD, BURLESON, TX 76028 (817) 768-2829) TO BE INSPECTED. THE MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO RETRIEVE FAULT CODE 1391 WITH A STATED FAILURE OF THE ABS ACTUATOR. THE CONTACT WAS QUOTED A COST OF $2,050 TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 190,000.
I'M HAVING A GLARE ON MY WINDSHIELD (WHEN I'M DRIVING AND PARTICULARLY IN SUNNY CONDITIONS) FROM MY DASHBOARD THAT HAS MELTED. IT'S BECOME VERY SHINY AND MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE WHEN DRIVING. I HAVE TRIED CLEANING IT BUT BECAUSE OF THE SUBSTANCE IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO CLEAN IT.

ON OR ABOUT MID APRIL 2018 THIS VEHICLE WAS LEFT PARKED AND UNATTENDED OUTSIDE IN UPSTATE NY FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS. THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE AT THE TIME WAS FROM THE MID 20S TO THE MID 30'S WITH SOME SNOW. AFTER 2 WEEKS, I CAME BACK AND ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE IT FROM IT'S PARKED SPOT WHEN I DISCOVERED THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR WHEEL LOCKED UP AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL GARAGE WHERE THE D/S REAR CALIPER PINS WERE FOUND FROZEN AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS FOUND RUSTED. ON APRIL 2019 THE SAME VEHICLE WAS LEFT PARKED IN UPSTATE NY WHEN THE LOCAL TEMPERATURE VARIED FROM THE LOW 30'S TO THE HIGH 30'S WITH SOME SNOW ON THE GROUND. I RETURNED AFTER 2 WEEKS AND THIS TIME IT WAS DISCOVERED THE REAR WHEELS WOULD NOT TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS AGAIN TOWED AND THE REAR ROTORS WERE FOUND EXTREMELY RUSTED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE FRONT ROTORS WERE ALSO FOUND EXTREMELY RUSTED BUT WERE NOT REPLACED AT THIS TIME. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS PARTIALLY STUCK AND HARD TO BRAKE FREE FROM REAR ROTOR DUE TO RUST.

DASHBOARD IS BECOMING EXTREMELY STICKY AND SHINY. NOTHING WIPES IT OFF, AND ITS WORSE IN WARMER WEATHER. ITS SHININESS IS BECOMING DISTRACTING WHILE DRIVING. I'M WORRIED ABOUT THIS SPREADING TO OTHER PARTS CONNECTED TO THE DASHBOARD, LIKE AC AND AIRBAGS. CALLED TOYOTA AND THEY TOLD ME THE WARRANTY WAS UP AND IT WAS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE FIRST OWNER OF THE VEHICLE TO GET IT FIXED. AS THE SECOND OWNER (BOUGHT IT USED), I WAS NEVER GIVEN ANY NOTICE OF COMPLETE COVERAGE OR REPAIRS. NO EMAILS OR LETTERS.
I PURCHASED A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY ALMOST TWO YEARS AGO WITH 100,000 THOUSAND MILES. THE CAR WAS RUNNING GREAT UNTIL NOW, IT HAS 120,000 MILES NOW AND IS STARTING TO BURN A LOT OF OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES, IT BURNS ABOUT ONE QUART EVERY 800 TO 1000 MILES.

Visors fall out and will not stay secured, allowing for sun to grt into eyes while driving. This is compounded by the fact that the dashboard is melting and very shiny. Common problems with this year and model. Recommend Toyota replace.
MY DASHBOARD HAS SOMEHOW MELTED AND IS COMPLETELY STICKY! THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS STUCK TO IT AND CANNOT BE REMOVED- AN ENTIRE PIECE OF PAPER, PLASTIC PIECES, FIZZ, DIRT, ETC.. I HONESTLY DO NOT KNOW HOW THIS HAPPENED BUT IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE OVER THE LAST YEAR. I'VE TRIED TO HAVE IT REPAIRED BUT THE PRICE IS OUTRAGEOUS, I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO AT THIS POINT. EXCESSIVE ENGINE CONSUMPTION WHICH STARTED AFTER 145,000 AND BECAUSE I DON'T PUT A LOT OF MILES ON MY CAR. I AM OUT OF WARRANTY WHICH EXPIRED MARCH 2018. EXCESSIVE OIL BURNING, I DO HAVE HIGH MILEAGE; ODOMETER AT OIL CHANGE AT HENDRIX TOYOTA ON FEBRUARY 11, 2019 WAS 195,562. TODAY FEBRUARY 28, 2019 MY ODOMETER IS AT 196,162. I NOW HAVE TO ADD MORE OIL TO MY CAR TODAY, WHEN ONLY 17 DAYS AGO 5 QUARTS WAS ADDED. I A AFRAID THAT I MAY NOT CATCH IT IN TIME TO ADD OIL, AND THE ENGINE WOULD LOCK UP. WHILE TRAVELING DOWN A CITY STREET, MY DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED WITHOUT IMPACT. MY VISION WAS IMPAIRED BY THE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT CAUSING ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF MY CAR AND HIT A CURB TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY VEHICLE. THE IMPACT DID NOT DEPLOY THE RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG.
THE FIRST TIME THE "CHECK VSC SYSTEM" (ATTACHMENT) CAME UP WAS ABOUT THE FIRST WEEK OF JAN 2019 WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET. SINCE I WAS ON THE RIGHT HAND LAND I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE. AFTER I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND WAITED FOR 1 MINUTE AND TURN THE ENGINE BACK ON, THE MESSAGE "CHECK VSC SYSTEM" DISAPPEAR FROM THE DASHBOARD. WHEN I GOT HOME AND SEARCHED FOR THIS ERROR MESSAGE MANY PEOPLE SAYS THIS COULD BE DUE TO A LOOSE GAS CAP SO I MAKE SURE IT'S TIGHTEN. THEN ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER ON JAN 17, 2019, THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENS AGAIN. THIS TIME I WAS IN A PARKING LOT AND WHEN I PRESSED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE BUZZER WILL CHIME BEFORE I EVEN START THE ENGINE. WHEN I START THE ENGINE THEN THE "CHECK VSC SYSTEM" COMES ON AND IT DOESN'T GO AWAY. I TRIED TO TURN THE ENGINE ON AND OFF MULTIPLE TIMES AND IT DOESN'T RESOLVE THE ISSUE LIKE LAST TIME. I ALSO NOTICED WHEN I STEP ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, IT PROVIDES VIRTUALLY NO BREAK. IT WOULD TAKE ME A VERY LONG DISTANCE TO BRING THE CAR TO A STOP AND I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MORE THAN 25 MPH. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTICS AND TWO CODES CAME UP FOR ABS PUMP AND ABS MOTOR. HE TRIED TO USE HIS TOOL TO TURN ON THE ABS PUMP IT DOESN'T WORK. THEN WE FOUND OUT ABOUT THE BRAKE WARRANTY(ATTACHMENT) BUT I WHEN I WENT TO THE A TOYOTA DEALER, THE DEALER SAID THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED ON 3/14/2018 SINCE THE FIRST DATE OF USE WAS 3/14/2008. I BELIEVE SINCE THE SECONDARY WARRANTY WAS FOR 150K MILES AND MY CAR HAS ONLY 121K MILES ON IT, IT SHOULD BE COVERED. IF I HAD DRIVE 20K PER MILE PER YEAR, THIS ISSUE WOULD HAVE APPEARED TWO YEARS AGO WHICH WAS WITHIN THE WARRANTY PERIOD.
