THE CAMRY HAS BEEN HESITATING ON STARTING FROM A DEAD STOP, SINCE THE DAY IT WAS PURCHASED. THERE ARE TIMES WHEN YOU REALLY NEED TO ACCELERATE AND IT JUST DOESN'T MOVE FOR TWO TO FOUR SECONDS. THIS IS A DANGEROUS FLAW AND CAN LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. I REPORTED IT TO TOYOTA, HAD THE CAR IN THE REPAIR CENTER TWICE AND THEY TELL ME IT'S A SOFTWARE LIMITATION, AND IT WILL BE SOLVED. HOWEVER, I LOOKED INTO AUTO PERFORMANCE REPORTS ON THE INTERNET AD IT'S BEEN A PROBLEM WITH THE 2007 CAMRY, WHICH WAS NEVER ADDRESSED FOR THE 2008 MODEL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA SOLARA CONVERTIBLE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WILL CONSISTENTLY DRIFT TO THE RIGHT. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AND THEY REALIGNED THE VEHICLE TWICE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE STILL PERSISTS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE DRIFTING WAS A COMMON CHARACTERISTIC FOR THE CAMRY AND SOLARA. THE CONTACT FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE HESITATED. THE VEHICLE WOULD THEN SURGE FORWARD AND BECAME DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN OCCASIONAL THREE SECOND HESITATION BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD BEGIN TO MOVE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. TOYOTA STATED THAT THEY WERE UNAWARE OF SUCH FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 650. THE CONSUMER STATED THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS UNRELIABLE EVEN ON A SLIGHT SLOPE WITH DOWNSHIFTING. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE HOME, THE CONTACT COULD NOT CHECK THE OIL AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE. THE OIL WOULD NORMALLY APPEAR ON THE DIPSTICK REGARDLESS IF THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED FOR HOURS. HE HAD TO ALLOW THE DIPSTICK TO SIT OUT OVERNIGHT IN ORDER TO CHECK THE OIL. THE DEALER STATED THAT NO ONE EVER CHECKS THEIR OWN OIL AND NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO RECOURSE AND ONLY TOOK HIS INFORMATION AND PASSED IT ON. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE ENGINE RACES WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED. WHEN THE CONTACT PLACES THE VEHICLE INTO GEAR, IT LUNGES FORWARD. THE VEHICLE ALSO HESITATES WHEN PICKING UP SPEED AFTER DECELERATING. AN AUTHORIZED DEALER INFORMED HIM THAT THE COMPUTER WAS DESIGNED TO WORK IN THAT MANNER AND THERE WERE NO SOLUTIONS TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. I HAD PURCHASED TOYOTA CAMRY LE 2008 MODEL AND WITH JUST 25 MILES ON THE 3RD DAY OF PURCHASED , MY CAR EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION AT SIGNAL WHICH CAUSED ME TO HIT THE CAR IN FRONT. MY BRAND NEW CAR CRUMPLED. THE CAR WAS TOWED AND LATER REPAIRED. I HAD TO PAY FOR THE DEDUCTIBLE , RENTAL CAR AND ALSO HAVE A CAR WHICH IS SHOWN IN CARFAX AS ACCIDENT-INVOLVED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE HESITATES DURING ACCELERATION. THE FAILURE PREVENTS THE CONTACT FROM CHANGING LANES BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WILL NOT GAIN SPEED. THE FAILURE HAS CAUSED NEAR CRASHES. THE DEALER INSTALLED NEW HARDWARE IN THE VEHICLE. THE REPAIR HELPED APPROXIMATELY 40%, BUT THE VEHICLE STILL HESITATES. 2008 TOYOTA HYBRID CAMRY--FROM THE DATE OF PURCHASE IN OCTOBER, 2007 I HAVE EXPERIENCED SURGING WHEN I USE CRUISE CONTROL AND GO UP AN INCLINE OR HILL. I HAVE ACCEPTED THIS AS NORMAL BUT NOW AM WONDERING IF I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY ACCELERATOR. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT THE HYBRID IS NOT ON THE LIST OF RECALLS. CAN YOU CHECK THIS OUT FOR ME. I AM ALSO REMINDED THAT I HAD A DEFECTIVE TIRE REPLACED WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR. THANK YOU. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED SHORTLY AFTER SHE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE SHE HAD THE ACCELERATION PROBLEM. THE CONTACT WAS ON THE FREEWAY DRIVING ABOUT 50MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND SHE COULD NOT GET IT TO SLOW DOWN. THE CONTACT STATED EVENTUALLY HER VEHICLE JUST STOPPED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR DOES NOT WORK. HIS WIFE WEIGHS 100 POUNDS, BUT THE SENSOR DOES NOT ALWAYS ACTIVATE WHEN SHE IS SEATED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED TO SENSE A GREATER WEIGHT SIZE AND NOTHING COULD BE DONE TO CORRECT THE DESIGN. THE MANUFACTURER AGREED WITH THE DEALER. MY 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY HAD PROBLEMS FROM THE DAY THAT I PURCHASED IT. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND ALSO CONTACTED TOYOTA MOTOR SALES U.S.A. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THE NATIONAL CENTER FOR DISPUTE SETTLEMENT WAS CALLED BY THE TOYOTA MOTOR SALES U.S.A. AND THEY ALSO DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. I FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING THE CAR. THE CAR RACES UNEXPECTEDLY AND LURCHES FORWARD IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. I AM AFRAID THAT THE CAR IS GOING TO CRASH INTO SOMETHING OR SOMEONE. I HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS TO THE ABOVE SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR. THE DEALER KEPT MY CAR FOR 8 DAYS ON ONE OF MY VISITS TO THEIR REPAIR SHOP AND TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. NOW THAT THE TOYOTA PROBLEM HAS BEEN MADE PUBLIC, I HOPE THAT MY COMPLAINT WILL NOT BE DISMISSED AS BEFORE. I TRIED TO ASK TOYOTA TO BUY BACK MY CAR, I NOTICED THE PROBLEM WHEN THE CAR ONLY HAD 16 MILES ON IT. CAN YOU PLEASE HELP? I KEPT ALL OF THE COMMUNICATIONS BETWEEN THE TOYOTA AND THE NCDS SINCE THE TIME I FIRST FILED MY COMPLAINTS WITH THIS PROBLEM. *TR
NEW CAMRY HYBRID, THREE DAYS OLD, "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT ALERTED US OF A PROBLEM THAT PROVED TO BE AN EMISSION SYSTEM MANUFACTURER DEFECT THAT REQUIRED SIX DAYS TO COMPLETE. DEALER FIXED THE DEFECT FOR FREE, BUT MY INTERACTION WITH THE NATIONAL TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE AGENCY IN CALIFORNIA WAS UNACCEPTABLE. THIS OCCURRED IN SEPTEMBER 2008, THOUGH YOUR PULL-DOWN MENU DOES NOT INCLUDE 2008 AS AN OPTION. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. SHE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW IN 2007. WITHIN A WEEK SHE ADVISED THE DEALER THAT THE VEHICLE PERFORMED AS IF IT WANTED TO MOVE FASTER THAN NORMAL AND WHEN SHE WAS AT A STOP LIGHT IT ALSO SURGED FORWARD. THE DEALER TOLD HER THE VEHICLE WAS COLD AND NEEDED TO WARM UP PRIOR TO DRIVING IT. THE DEALER ALSO TURNED THE IDLE DOWN AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO SURGE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 16,000.
I HAVE A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY XLE WITH APPROXIMATELY 800 MILES. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE 2 WEEKS AGO, AND AM ALREADY GRAVELY CONCERNED WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF THE VEHICLE. ON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4TH I WAS MERGING INTO INTERSTATE TRAFFIC AND PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR FOR THE NECESSARY ACCELERATION I NEEDED TO STAY WITH THE FLOW, BUT THE CAR DID NOT RESPOND. THE ACCELERATOR WAS ALMOST TO THE FLOOR, YET THE CAR WAS ONLY COASTING. IT TOOK AT LEAST 2 FULL SECONDS FOR THE VEHICLE TO RESPOND AND IT FINALLY DID JERK TO LIFE, BUT ONLY AFTER 2 CARS HAD TO JUMP OUT OF MY WAY (HORNS HONKING). THIS DELAY IN RESPONSE TO ACCELERATION INPUT HAS HAPPENED CONSISTENTLY (DAILY), AND I'VE HAD TO MODIFY MY DRIVING HABITS TO REMAIN SAFE. EVEN WITH MY OWN MODIFICATIONS, I'M STILL VERY CONCERNED FOR MY OWN SAFETY AND FOR THE CARS AROUND ME AND OTHER CAMRY DRIVERS. SO FAR, NO RESOLUTION FROM THE DEALER, BUT I WILL NOT STOP HERE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHEN DRIVING ON AN INCLINE WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED, THE VEHICLE WILL SUDDENLY INCREASE SPEED WITHOUT THE DRIVERS CONTROL. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALERSHIP. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 37477.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED TO 120 MPH. THE CONTACT COULD NOT CONTROL OR STOP THE VEHICLE AND ACCELERATED THROUGH TEN TRAFFIC LIGHTS, CRASHED INTO A POLE, ROLLED OVER THREE TIMES INTO THE RAILROAD TRACKS. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MAJOR INJURIES AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL. DUE TO THE SEVERITY OF THE INJURIES THE CONTACT IS UNABLE PERFORM HER DAILY FUNCTIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT IS AVAILABLE IF NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. A TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVE INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND COULD NOT FIND ANY DEFECTS IN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL OR DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT DROVE TO TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS AND WAS ADVISED TO WRITE A LETTER WHICH HE HAS NOT RECEIVED A RESPONSE TO DATE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000.
DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE VISOR HAVE BOTH BROKEN AND WILL NOT STAY UP. THE DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR FREQUENTLY DROPS DOWN OBSTRUCTING THE DRIVER'S VIEW OF THE ROAD, SOMETIMES COMPLETELY FOR TALLER DRIVERS. THE PASSENGER SIDE ALSO DROPS DOWN AND CAN PARTIALLY OBSTRUCT THE DRIVER'S PERIPHERAL VIEW. *TR
TAKATA RECALL MY VISORS IN MY CAR KEEP COMING DOWN AND HINDERING MY ABILITY TO DRIVE WITH DIFFICULTIES. I HAVE FIXED THEM MULTIPLE TIMES. TOYOTA NEEDS TO POP IN AND SOLVE THIS ISSUE. WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAYS IN HOUSTON AND THE VISORS JUST FALLS. BECAUSE OF THE SUDDEN FALL OF THE VISOR I JUMPED THE CURB AND POPPED A TIRE. I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS HAPPENING. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO KEEP SPENDING MY TIME AND MONEY ON SOMETHING I ALREADY SPENT MY MONEY ON. DONT USE CRAPPY PARTS AND YOU WON'T GET CRAPPY RESULTS.
I was recently informed about a previous recall on a dashboard issue I've been dealing with for years. I have a sticky cracking dashboard that imitates a smell in warm to hot temperatures. I have own this vehicle since 2014 and lived at the same address since 2006. Never have I been made aware of the recalls on this issue. I have vested a lot of money to keep this great car on great condition. And it would be good to receive consideration to have the problem dashboard replaced. The sticky dashboard also produces a glare on the windshield causing a blinding most of the time This makes driving challenging unless it's covered. I would really appreciate consideration on extending this recall for the safety of all those on the road ways. Please and Thank you!
2008 TOYOTA CAMRY INSTRUMENT PANEL TO BRIGHT. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE RADIO ON THE RIGHT OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL IS TOO BRIGHT AND IT DRAWS YOUR EYES OFF THE ROAD. THEY ALSO SAY THAT THE DIMMER SWITCH DOES NOT DIM IT ENOUGH FOR IT NOT TO BE A DISTRACTION. *KB
2008 TOYOTA SOLARA DEFECTIVE DIMMING REARVIEW MIRROR. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE DIMMING MIRROR WILL GO IN AND OUT OF DIMMING. 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID INCLUDED IN THE FLOOR MAT RECALL. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HE CONTACTED THE DEALER TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE RECALL TAKEN CARE OF, HE WAS INFORMED THAT TOYOTA WAS ONLY PROVIDING SUFFICIENT PARTS TO THE DEALER TO PERFORM 10 VEHICLES PER DAY. AS A RESULT, THE CONSUMERS APPOINTMENT WAS IN 13 DAYS.
