THE DASHBOARD IS BREAKING DOWN AND HAS BECOME VERY STICKY. THIS CAUSES GLARE WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT THAT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I CALLED TOYOTA ABOUT IT ON 9/14/209, BUT THEY SAID THEIR 'WARRANT ENHANCEMENT' EXPIRED ON 8/13/2019. TOYOTA SAID THAT THEY SENT A LETTER IN 2016, WHICH I NEVER RECEIVED. I HAD MY CAR SERVICED AT A TOYOTA DEAL (JACK TAYLOR TOYOTA, ALEXANDRIA VA), AND THEY NEVER NOTIFIED ME OF THE 'WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT.' THEY SAID THAT THEY ONLY HAD TO NOTIFY FOR RECALL SAFETY ISSUES. THEY SAID THAT THEY COULD REPLACE IT FOR @2,171.46 THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL, NOT JUST A 'WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT.' TOYOTA'S METHODS TO NOTIFY ARE INADEQUATE AND THIS PROBLEM IS ONGOING - ME AND MANY OTHERS WILL HAVE THIS SAFETY PROBLEM BEYOND TOYOTA'S WARRANT PERIOD. ESPECIALLY SINCE THEY DO SUCH A POOR JOB OF CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION. THIS CAUSES A LOT OF ROAD GLARE AT NIGHT AND WILL CAUSE ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS. TOYOTA IS OBVIOUSLY NOT DOING THE RIGHT THING ON THEIR OWN. I HOPE THE NTSB CAN PLEASE ADVANCE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE.
SHINY, MELTING AND STICKY DASHBOARD. CAUSES SUNLIGHT TO REFLECT RIGHT INTO THE EYES
SUN VISOR KEEPS FALLING DOWN
THE FIRST INCIDENT HAPPEND ON 8/3/2019, MY OIL LIGHT BLINKED ON AND OFF AND IT WAS NOT TIME FOR AN OIL CHANGE. SO I CHECKED IT THE NEXT DAY AND I HAD NO OIL IN MY CAR. WELL IT HAPPENED AGAIN TONIGHT 9/12/2019, I HAVE SYNTHETIC OIL AND THE LIGHT LITTERALY JUST CAME ON AT THE 5K MARK. LEAVING MY MOM THE OIL LIGHT BLINKED ON AND OFF AGAIN. TOOK TO OREILY AND I HAD NO OIL IN THE CAR. I DO NOT HAVE A LEAK SO OBVIOUSLY MY CAR IS NOW BURNING OIL LIKE ALL THE OTHER COMPLAINTS. COME ON TOYOTA, YOU GUYS NEED TO DO BETTER WITH THIS AND RECALL THE 2010'S AS WELL BEFORE I BLOW UP MY ENGINE.
THE DASHBOARD ON MY 2010 CAMRY HAS DEGRADED OVER TIME, BECOMING STICKY AND SHINY. IT IS NOW AFFECTING VISIBILITY DUE TO THE REFLECTION IN THE WINDSHIELD, CAUSING UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS IN SUNNY WEATHER. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT MY MODEL IS NOT INCLUDED IN AN EARLIER RECALL REGARDING THIS ISSUE.
BREAK ACTUATOR, 2ND EVENT EVENT 1 COMPLAINT NUMBER 11234969 23 JULY 2019, DROPPED MY CAR OFF WITH TOYOTA CLOVIS SAME DEALERSHIP (JACOB WAS MY REP) BECAUSE MY BRAKES WAS MAKING THE CREAKING SOUND/THUMPING. I ASKED HIM TO CHECK MY BRAKES AND IF THAT WASN'T THE PROBLEM, CALL ME TO LET ME KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. HE CALLED ME LATER THAT DAY AND SAID IT WAS THE BRAKES, THEY WENT AHEAD AND CHANGED THE BRAKE PADS. HE SAID THEY RECOMMEND TO CHANGE BRAKE ACTUATOR FLUID? SINCE IT WASN'T DONE WHEN THEY CHANGED THE ACTUATOR PREVIOUSLY AND HE WAS GOING TO CHARGE ME. I COMMENTED THAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE BACK IN 2017 WHEN THE BRAKE ACTUATOR ORIGINALLY FAILED. I ASKED IF IT WOULD AFFECT MY CAR, DRIVABILITY, ETC. AND JACOB SAID NO IT SHOULD DRIVE FINE WITH NO PROBLEMS OTHER THAN A FEW SETTLE SOUNDS. HE SAID BUT THE BRAKES ARE FIXED AND IT'S NO LONGER MAKING THE SOUND/ THUMPING. SO I DECLINED THE FLUID SERVICE. 25 JULY 2019, I WAS GOING TO GET MY DAUGHTER FROM SCHOOL. BY THEN, IT HAD STARTED TO MAKE THE CHEAKING NOISE/THUMPING. I GOT JUST ABOUT TO HER SUMMER SCHOOL (ON FOWLER AVE) AND ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON MY PANEL LIT UP AGAIN. I PULLED OVER AND CALLED MY HUSBAND. I DROVE IT HOME SLOW. WE CALLED TOYOTA, SPOKE TO THE MANAGER, EXPLAINED THAT THIS HAD HAPPENED BEFORE. I JUST PAID THEM $240 FOR BRAKE PADS THAT I DIDN'T NEED. I REFUSED TO DRIVE THE CAR. THE DEALERSHIP WAS CLOSING IN 1.5HRS WHICH LEFT NO TIME FOR TOW TRUCK. MY HUSBAND DROVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, I FOLLOWED IN HIS CAR. TOYOTA (JACOB) GAVE ME A LOANER. 25 JULY 2019, THE MANAGER CALLED AND SAID THE ISSUE WAS THE BRAKE ACTUATOR FAILED AGAIN BUT BECAUSE THE PART WHICH IS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECTIVE (MANAGER ACTUALLY AGREED) WAS ONLY COVERED FOR A YEAR, I'D HAVE TO CONTACT CORPORATE TO SEE IF THEY COULD CHANGE IT OUT AT NO COST. I WILL CALL TOMORROW (26 JULY 2019)...ALTHOUGH, I DO NOT PLAN ON EVER DRIVING THIS CAR AGAIN.
TOYOTA CAMRY 2010, WAS DRIVEN TO DENTIST OFFICE PARKING LOT. WHILE PARKING THE BRAKE WAS PRESSED TO BRING IT TO A STANDSTILL. HOWEVER, IT SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND LEAPED FORWARD AND SMASHED AGAINST AN IMMOVABLE WALL IN FRONT. ALL THIS WHILE THE WHEEL KEPT ON SPINNING UNCONTROLLABLY. FRONT OF CAR IS BADLY MAULED DEPICTING THE UNCALLED FOR MOMENTUM. GLAD THAT THERE WAS A WALL AS THIS ABORTED THE FEARSOME CRAZE. DRIVER BADLY SHAKEN WITH MODERATE INJURY. NEVER EXPRIENCED THIS BEFORE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS WIFE INFORMED HIM THAT, WHILE MAKING A TURN, AN ABNORMAL CLICKING NOISE WAS HEARD AND THE OIL WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOYOTA OF NEWNAN (770-502-1333, 2 HERRING RD, NEWNAN, GA 30265), BUT THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE TECHNICIAN ADDED OIL AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO RETURN AFTER DRIVING 1,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PISTON WAS FAULTY AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 171,364. *TT
BOTH SUN VISORS WERE DEFECTIVE. WHEN IN 2016 I WENT TO DEALERSHIP IN TINELY PARK IL, I REQUESTED THAT BOTH DEFECTIVE SUN VISOR SHOULD BE REPLACED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT TOYOTA GENERATED. SERVICE WRITER TOLD ME THAT UNLESS SUN VISOR FALL DOWN COMPLETELY, TOYOTA WOULD NOT AUTHORIZE THE REPAIR. AND DEALERSHIP REPAIRED ONLY THE DRIVER SIDE AND DENIED REPAIR ON PASSENGER SIDE. TODAY, MY PASSENGER SUN VISOR FLOPS DOWN AND SERIOUSLY OBSTRUCTS VISIBILITY - CREATING VERY UNSAFE CONDITION. I CALLED TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND TOYOTA CORPORATE OFFICE ON JULY 18TH 2019. BOTH DENIED THE CLAIM AND DENIED NECESSARY REPAIR. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FROM ANY AUTO MANUFACTURER - SHOWING THEIR LACK OF RESPONSIBILITY.
SUN VISORS HAVE DEFECTIVE PART AND FAIL TO GO ALL THE WAY AGAINST WINDSHIELD AND EVENTUALLY THE PART BREAKS AND VISOR IS UNABLE TO BE PROPERLY PUT UP (AGAINST THE ROOF OF CAR) AND OUT OF THE WAY WHEN NOT IN USE. VISOR HANGS IN FIELD OF VISION WHILE DRIVING AND IS PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS AT NIGHT OR WHEN IT IS RAINING, OBSTRUCTING VIEW AHEAD AND CANNOT SEE TRAFFIC SIGNALS. TOYOTA EVIDENTLY ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN/ WARRANTY EXTENSION WHEREIN THEY WOULD REPAIR FOR SEVEN YEARS FROM ORIGINAL DATE OF PURCHASE FOR 2007-2011 VEHICLES. THIS HAS BEEN EXTREMELY UNSAFE. HAD THERE BEEN A RECALL ISSUED, I WOULD HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THIS ISSUE WHEN I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE IN 2015, YET SERVICE BULLETINS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO BE PUBLISHED AND WELL-KNOWN. THIS HAS CREATED AN OBSTRUCTION TO MY FIELD OF VISION WHEN DRIVING AND HAS CREATED SOME HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS. WOULD A RECALL HAVE BEEN ISSUED, I WOULD STILL BE WITHIN THE TIME PERIOD BEFORE THE RECALL EXPIRED. THIS HAPPENED AFTER I DROVE TO WORK ONE DAY, PARKED AND WHEN I CAME OUT AT LUNCH, UNHOOKED THE VISOR AND TRIED TO USE IT. I WAS PROBABLY STATIONARY BUT COULD HAVE BEEN MOVING AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD BECAME STICKY AND IT CREATED A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD FROM THE SUB CAUSING THEIR VISIBILITY TO BE DIFFICULT, WHILE DRIVING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED A COURTESY SAFETY RECALL FOR A REPLACEMENT OF THE DASHBOARD FOR THEIR VEHICLE BUT THE CONTACT WAS NOT ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL DEALER DON MCGILL TOYOTA (11800 KATY FWY, HOUSTON, TX 77079) BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF STATE AND BECAUSE OF COVID CONCERNS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS BACK IN STATE AND THEY WANTED TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE COURTESY RECALL BUT THE LOCAL DEALER INFORMED THEM IT WAS TOO LATE AND THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE THE DASHBOARD. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.
WHILE CHECKING OIL HOOD SUDDENLY CLOSED HOOD SUPPORTS FAILED. NO WARNING IT JUST SLAMMED SHUT. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN MY GARAGE AT THE TIME 0800. IT CAUGHT MY LEFT ARM AND HAND REQUIRING SIX STICHES PLUS OTHER CUTS AND BRUISES.
BOTH FRONT HEADLAMP LENSES HAVE FILM BUILDUP INSIDE THE PROJECTOR HOUSING CAUSING HEADLIGHT LOW BEAM TO BE DULL AND NOT ENOUGH OUTPUT LUMENS. UNABLE TO CLEAN. REQUIRING REPLACEMENT HEADLIGHTS. DRIVING AT NIGHT WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE! VERY EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE $1318.68. DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDED THAT I CALL NATIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE BUT THEY DID NOT OFFER ANY FINANCIAL HELP EVEN THOUGH THIS IS PROBABLY A DESIGN FLAW. THERE ARE LOTS OF OTHER COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT SAME ISSUES WITH CAMRY,
THE ABS BRAKE ACTUATOR ON MY TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID HAS GONE BAD CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO BE UNSAFE FOR OPERATION. I WAS INITIALLY TOLD THAT THE ACTUATOR WOULD BE COVERED UNDER A WARRANTY EXTENSION. HOWEVER AFTER FURTHER INSPECTION, I WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED BECAUSE THERE ISN'T ANY WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD AND/OR NO ERROR CODES PRESENT WHEN HOOKED UP TO A SCAN TOOL EVEN THOUGH THE PART IS FAULTY AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
DASHBOARD STICKY AND SURFACE DETERIORATING ESPECIALLY SINCE HOUSED IN 80-90 WESTHER; CUSTOMER UNABLE TO CORRECT PROBLEM. BECOMING A SAFETY ISSUE AND A GROSS DEVALUATION OF ASSET.
THE SAFETY MY FAMILY'S HEALTH IS IN PERIL IN MY OPINION BECAUSE THE CAR IS EMANATING A VERY STRONG MOLD LIKE ODOR CAUSING US HEADACHES AND SORE THROATS EVEN ON TRIPS UNDER 5 MINUTES. ON REVIEWING NUMEROUS INTERNET ARTICLES ABOUT THIS, IT APPEARS THAT TOYOTA MAY NOT BE SERIOUSLY ADDRESSING THE PROBLEM. I DO NOT KNOW AT THIS TIME WHAT MECHANICAL DEFECT IS IN PLAY.
75,000 MILES ON MY 2010 TOYOTA CAMRY: FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS ON COLD MORNINGS, THE CAR WILL REVERSE AND PROCEED 100 YARDS TO THE STOP SIGN. THEN WHEN I STEP ON GAS, CAR REVS UP BUT DOESN'T MOVE. DEALER SAID NEW TRANSMISSION NEEDED. QUOTED ME 7,000$. ANOTHER SHOP SAID IT WAS THE TRANS COMPUTER AND OR SOLENOID. THEY REPLACED. WAS FINE FOR A FEW MONTHS... NOW DOES THE SAME. HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. SERVICES REGULARLY.
THE RED INDICATOR LIGHT IN MY DASH DISPLAY CAME ON WHEN I STARTED THE CAR AND CONTINUED WHILE I WAS DRIVING, SO I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC. MY ALTERNATOR NEEDS REPLACEMENT, WHICH IS VERY DISAPPOINTING BECAUSE THE CAR ONLY HAS 84,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN VERY WELL MAINTAINED AND SERVICED REGULARLY. I PURCHASED A NEW BATTERY ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO, AND THE ALTERNATOR REPLACEMENT QUOTE FROM THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP WHERE MY FAMILY PURCHASED THE CAR NEW IS QUOTING $1,245 FOR A NEW ALTERNATOR (PARTS & LABOR). AN INTERNET SEARCH LED ME TO FIND THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO QUITE A FEW OWNERS OF THIS ERA OF TOYOTA. I CALLED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE IS NO RECALL OR ANY TYPE OF ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE TO COVER THE COST OF THIS VERY EXPENSIVE AND PREMATURE REPAIR. MY MECHANIC WARNED ME OF THE HUGE DANGERS OF HAVING MY ALTERATOR FAIL WHILE OPERATING THE CAR, ESPECIALLY WHILE DOING THE FAST FREEWAY DRIVING THAT IS SO COMMON IN LOS ANGELES. I HAD NO IDEA THAT THE RED BATTERY DASH LIGHT INDICATED SUCH A SERIOUS PROBLEM. I HOPE THAT IN THE NEAR FUTURE THIS CAN BE RECALLED, TO SAVE CONSUMERS THE HUGE COST OF MAKING THIS CRITICAL AND UNTIMELY REPAIR. THE DASHBOARD IS SHINNY, MELTY AND VERY REFLECTIVE. IT'S BECOMING A HAZARD TO DRIVE THE CAR AS THE DASHBOARD IS REFLECTED ON THE WINDOW. TOYOTA'S DASHBOARDS SHOULD NOT MELT BECAUSE OF TIME.
DASH IS STICKY AND CRUMBLING AND GETTING WORSE
Sticky and Shiny Dashboard causes lots of reflection on windscreen hampering road visibility during direct sunlight and night driving. I am scared driving my car.
THE REAR WINDSHIELD IS TINTED. IT HAS DETERIORATED SO MUCH THAT I CAN NOT SEE THROUGH IT WHILE IN DRIVERS SEAT. IT IS EXTREMELY BLURRY AND TRANSLUCENT. AT NIGHT TIME IT IS ALL STREAKED LIGHT REFLECTIONS. THIS CONDITION IS A SEVERE SAFETY HAZARD. THE TINT FILM HAS BUBBLED. NOTICED IT HAPPEN LAST YEAR BUT NOW IT HAS BECOME WORST.
TL* THE CONTACT CALLED ON BEHALF OF HER MOTHER WHO OWNED A 2010 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5-10 MPH AND MAKING A LEFT TURN INTO A SHOPPING CENTER, THE VEHICLE WAS STRUCK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL WELL BY AN ONCOMING VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A MINOR CONCUSSION AND A DEEP CONTUSION TO THE KNEE, BUT DID NOT SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED A MAJOR CONCUSSION, DILATED EYES, A PARTIAL TEAR TO THE ROTATOR CUFF, AND WHIPLASH. THE PASSENGER REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A COLLISION CENTER AND DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
DASHBOARD IS MELTING AND MY VEHICLE VIN WAS NOT UNDER THE RECALL. MY SISTER BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2009 AND HAD THIS ISSUE BUT NO RECALL FOR IT FROM TOYOTA.
"TAKATA RECALL" I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET. MY STEERING WHEEL AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. ONLY SMALL PIECES OF THE AIR BAG WERE SEEN AT THE EDGE OF THE STEERING WHEEL. I DID NOT TAKE A PHOTO. MY VEHICLE WAS TOTALED SO THERE MAY HAVE BEEN SOME DOCUMENTATION WITH INSURANCE COMPANY. I HAD NEW TIRES PUT ON MY CAR 10 DAYS EARLIER AND I BELIEVE MY TIRE PRESSURE MAINTENANCE SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED. MY TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT WAS BLINKING AND I WAS UNABLE TO STOP MY CAR WHEN I APPROACHED A TRAFFIC LIGHT.
MY AIRBAG LIGHT TURNED ON IN MY CAR. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT WATER WAS LEAKING FROM THE HVAC SYSTEM ONTO THE AIRBAG CONTROL UNIT AND SHORTING IT OUT. THIS WAS BECAUSE THE DRAIN FROM THE HVAC SYSTEM WAS CLOGGED AND CONDENSED WATER WAS NOT DRAINING OUT ONTO THE GROUND AS DESIGNED. INSTEAD, IT BUILT UP AND THEN LEAKED ONTO THE AIRBAG CONTROL UNIT. THIS EXACT PROBLEM WAS RECALLED ON OTHER MODEL YEARS OF TOYOTA CAMRYS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SUN VISOR FRACTURED AND OBSTRUCTED THE DRIVER'S VIEW OF THE ROAD. ALSO, WHEN TURNING THE VEHICLE, THE SUN VISOR STRUCK THE DRIVER IN THE FACE. THE DRIVER WAS UNINJURED. LARRY H. MILLER LIBERTY TOYOTA COLORADO SPRINGS (5115 NEW CAR DR, COLORADO SPRINGS, CO 80923) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.

THE CONTACTED CALLED JAY WOLFE TOYOTA OF WEST COUNTY (14700 MANCHESTER RD, BALLWIN, MO 63011, (636) 707-0157) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER COVERED UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO SCHEDULE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 1809052163. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
LUG NUTS SWELLING MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE WITH SUPPLIED LUG WRENCH. ALL 20 LUG NUTS SHOW EVIDENCE OF SEPARATION OF THE STEEL NUT AND THE DECORATIVE CHROME COVER COVERING THE STEEL LUG NUT. DEFECT WAS FOUND BY TIRE DEALER DURING PURCHASE OF NEW TIRES WHEN THE TECHNICIAN HAD DIFFICULTY REMOVING LUG NUTS. ACCORDING TO THE TIRE STORE MANAGER THIS DAMAGE IS CAUSED BY WATER GETTING BETWEEN THE STEEL NUT AND THE DECORATIVE CAP WHICH CAUSES RUST TO FORM. WHEN THE OXIDATION FORMS IT PUTS PRESSURE ON THE DECORATIVE CAP CAUSING IT TO EXPAND. THE NORMAL 21MM WRENCH WILL NOT FIT OVER THE LUG NUT DUE TO THE EXPANSION SO THE NEXT SIZE WRENCH IS NECESSARY WHICH THEN DAMAGES THE NUT. THE NORMAL LUG NUT WRENCH SUPPLIED BY THE MANUFACTURER FOR THE CAR IS THEREFORE NOT ABLE TO BE USED TO REMOVE LUG NUTS. I HAVE THE DAMAGED LUG NUTS IF NEEDED FOR EXAMINATION
ON MY MORNING COMMUTE I HAD TO INITIATE A FAST ACCELERATION BY DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FULLY TO GAIN SPEED AND UPON TAKING MY FOOT OFF THE PEDAL I NOTICED IT REMAINED DEPRESSED FULLY AND CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THIS SITUATION HAD HAPPENED A YEAR PRIOR IN A SIMILAR CASE WHERE I HAD PUT "THE PEDAL TO THE METAL" AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL STUCK TO THE FLOOR. SLAMMING ON THE BRAKES ALLOWED THE ACCELERATOR TO DISENGAGE AND OPERATE AS NORMAL. THE INSTANCE TODAY OCCURRED ON A CITY STREET WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT; MAX ACCELERATION WAS ENGAGED AT AROUND 5MPH AND MY TOP SPEED REACHED 40MPH BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR FELL OFF. THE HANDLE BROKE AND DOESN'T STAY. ALWAYS DOWN
THE SUN VISORS BREAKS AND WILL NOT STAY UP CREATING A FLOPPY SUN VISOR IN THE DOWN POSITION WHICH IS A SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY WHEN IT IS THE DRIVER'S SUN VISOR. I HAVE READ THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THOUSANDS OF CAMRIES AND IT IS NOT A RECALL AND TOYOTA WILL NOT FIX UNLESS YOUR ORGANIZATION MAKES IT MANDATORY
WRITING ABOUT THE SUN VISORS ON THE 2010 TOYOTA CAMRY. SEEMS UNUSUAL TO ME THAT I'VE HAD TWO OF THEM THAT I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE IN THE PAST 2 YEARS. IN BOTH CASES, THE SUN VISORS LOST THEIR ABILITY TO STAY UPRIGHT AND STARTED DROPPING DOWN INTO THE DRIVERS' VISUAL FIELD WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAPPENED TO THE VISORS ON BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES. I BOUGHT REPLACEMENTS AND INSTALLED THEM MYSELF. NOT HUGELY EXPENSIVE JUST SEEMS LIKE A DEFECT, AND POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD, THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. I WAS SURPRISED TO FIND SO MANY YOUTUBE VIDEOS ONLINE ADDRESSING THE PROBLEM. THEY HELPED ME DO THE REPAIR MYSELF, BUT SEEMS TO SIGNAL THAT THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR MANY OWNERS OF THESE TOYOTA CARS. I'M ONLY LISTING THE DATE OF THE LAST ONE I REPLACED. THE FIRST ONE OCCURRED WITHIN THE PAST TWO YEARS.
INITIALLY, I THOUGHT I MAY HAVE BEEN IMAGINING THINGS BUT OVER THIS SUMMER I NOTICED THAT MY CAR WAS BURNING OIL SO FAST, THAT I NEEDED AN OIL CHANGE EVERY 1000 MILES. RECENTLY, I GOT MY OIL CHANGED AT THE END OF AUGUST 2018, USED OW-20 FULL SYNTHETIC AND TWO WEEKS LATER, THE OIL HAD BURNED OUT. LAST WEEK ON 9/13/18, I PUT 4 QUARTS IN AND TODAY I CHECKED MY DIPSTICK AND IT NEARLY DRY. I AM AFRAID THAT THIS MATTER WILL ONLY CONTINUE TO GET WORSE. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW TOYOTA WOULDN'T RECALL VEHICLES THAT ARE A SAFETY DANGER.
MY CAR HAS BEEN USING A LARGE AMOUNT OF OIL IN THE PAST YEAR. I WANT SOME SUGGESTIONS.
ENGINE WAS MAKING NOISE ANS INTERMITTENTLY STALLED. TOOK THE DEALER. HE CHARGED $135 FOR THE DIAGNOSIS AND SAID THE ENGINE IS BURNING EXCESSIVE OIL. REAL SOLUTION IS TO REPLACE THE ENGINE FOR $4500. HE DID NOT OFFER ANY COMPENSATION. I GOT THE ENGINE OILED FILLED AND DROVE BACK HOME. THE CAR IS USELESS FOR ME. I CANNOT SELL IT OR TRADE IT. IT IS A JUNK NOW.
THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING AND IT CREATES A REFLECTION THAT BLOCKS THE VIEW OF DRIVERS.
EVER SINCE I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR I'VE NOTICED THE ACCELERATOR AND BRAKES ARE EXTREMELY TOUCH AND IMPOSSIBLE TO ACCELERATE SMOOTHLY FROM A STOP. THE BRAKES ARE ALSO EXTREMELY TOUCHY SO IT'S HARD TO COME TO A SMOOTH STOP WITHOUT JERKING. I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THIS AND AFTER READING ALL THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT ABOUT THE ACCELERATOR AND BRAKES I'M VERY WORRIED THAT MY CAR WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THE PEOPLE WHO HAD ACCIDENTS OR NEAR ACCIDENTS HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE THE CAR WENT OUT OF CONTROL. I APPLIED THE BRAKES SLOWLY AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MOVING ABOUT 25 MPH AND INSTEAD OF SLOWING DOWN, THE CAR ACCELERATED--IT JOLTED FORWARD! I STEPPED ON THE BRAKES HARDER. THIS HAPPENED TWICE ON ONE DRIVE--I ALMOST HIT AN 18 WHEELER. IS THERE SOMETHING I SHOULD DO? I'M NOT SURE IF IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE.

I BELIEVE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE IF A SUNROOF EXPLODED LIKE THAT WITHOUT BEING HIT WITH ANYTHING.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.

TOYOTA DROPPED THE BALL AND DIDN'T RECALL THIS ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE. I CHECK RECALLS FREQUENTLY. NOW I'M STUCK WITH A CAR THAT DRINKS A GALLON OF OIL EVERY 700-1200K MILES. EVEN THOUGH THEY DID EXTEND THE WARRANTY TO 10YRS/150K MILES, THIS ISSUE USUALLY HAPPENS AFTER THEN. SO THEY KNEW WHAT THEY WAS DOING. MY CAR IS GOING TO FAIL THE TEST BUT TOYOTA DEALERS TELL ME THAT TOYOTA IS GOING TO HELP WITH ANY OF THE REPAIR COSTS. TALK ABOUT PISSED. TOYOTA AND LEXUS JUST LOST A LOYAL CUSTOMER
FAULTY AIR BAG. DEALER DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THE AIR BAGS IS FAULTY AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. ASKING 1400 DOLLARS FOR THE JOB. I EXPLAINED THAT AIR BAGS ARE NOT A WEAR AND TEAR ITEM. IT IS A MANUFACTURES RESPONSIBILITY FOR SAFETY ITEMS NOT IMPACTED BY OWNER DRIVING.
