BRAKE ACTUATOR: MY BRAKES WERE MAKING A CREAKING NOISE /THUMPING WHEN PRESSED...IN WHICH CASE I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST TIME FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE. ABOUT 0430, DECEMBER 21, 2017 (MY WEDDING ANNIVERSARY) I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY 99SOUTH HEADED FROM FRESNO, CA TO TULARE, CA...ABOUT A 45MIN DRIVE. WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY, MY CAR STARTED TO MAKE RANDOM CHIMING SOUNDS THAT DID NOT SEEM TO COME FROM ANYWHERE PARTICULAR. THERE WAS NO INDICATOR LIGHT ASSOCIATED WITH THE SOUND...IT WAS JUST RANDOM SOUNDS I HAD NEVER HEARD BEFORE. THAT WENT ON PERIODICALLY FOR THE NEXT 20-30MINS. I FINALLY MADE IT TO THE PROSPERITY AVE OFF-RAMP AND BEGAN TO PRESS THE BREAKS. IMMEDIATELY, ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON MY PANEL LIT UP AND A STEADY, HIGH PITCH SOUND CAME ON AND I COULDN'T STOP MY CAR. I PANICKED, CONTINUOUSLY TRYING TO BREAK PUSHING HARD AS I CAN. I ENDED UP BEING ABLE TO LEAD IT OFF THE EXIT AND INTO A POPEYES PARKING LOT NEXT TO THE OFF-RAMP WHERE IT EVENTUALLY CAME TO A STOP. THANK THE LORD THAT NO ONE WAS ON THE ROAD THAT EARLY IN THE MORNING. THE CAR WAS TOWED FROM TULARE BACK TO FRESNO (TOYOTA CORPORATE OFFICE WOULD NOT REFUND THAT 200 BUCKS). TOYOTA DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS THE BREAK ACTUATOR, IT WAS A "WARRANTY" THAT THEY'D COVER AT NO COST. I ASKED WHY I WASN'T NOTIFIED SINCE THE SITUATION IS LIFE THREATENING AND THERE WERE NO ANSWERS FOR THAT. TOYOTA HAD MY CAR FOR ABOUT A MONTH BECAUSE I DEMANDED THEY REPAIR EVERYTHING ASSOCIATED WITH THE BREAKS...QUITE HONESTLY I WAS JUST AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR. EVENTUALLY, I DROVE IT AGAIN WITH MY ANXIETY GRADUALLY DIMINISHING...BUT BY NO MEANS GONE. I VISITED A MENTAL HEALTH DOCTOR TO HELP, ALTHOUGH IT DIDN'T. 23 JULY 2019, IT WENT OUT AGAIN. WILL POST THAT EVENT ON SEPARATE ENTRY.
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION AT A RATE OF 4 QUARTS EVERY 3000 MILES.
ENGINE CONSUMES OIL AT AN ACCELERATED RATE. TOYOTA DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED THAT THE ENGINE ON THE 2010 TOYOTA CAMRY SE IS CONSUMING OIL. THEY ADVISED THAT THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS ON OTHER VEHICLES HOWEVER IT SKIPPED THIS VEHICLE YEAR. TOYOTA HAS NOT PROVIDED AN OPTION FOR REPAIR ASIDE FROM DISMANTLING THE ENGINE AND REBUILDING AT MY EXPENSE. VEHICLE REQUIRES OIL CHANGES AND/OR OIL REPLENISHMENT ALMOST EVERY 600-1200 MILES
THE CAR MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN KEPT UP PER THE MANUFACTURER AND ALWAYS TAKEN TO THE TOYOTA DEALER. THE CAR WAS MAKING A LOUD UNUSUAL NOISE FROM THE ENGINE; TOOK IT TO TOYOTA AND THE OIL STICK WAS COMPLETELY DRY. THIS WAS AFTER JUST HAVING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE ABOUT A MONTH EARLIER. ABOUT 1,000 TO 1,200 MILES LATER, THE SAME THING, NO OIL ON THE DIP STICK. INTERESTINGLY, THERE IS NO OIL LEAK IN THE DRIVEWAY EITHER. THE SERVICE ADVISER EXPLAINED THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IT COULD BE AND THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE 2010 CAMRY FOR THIS TYPE ISSUE. THEY TOPPED OFF THE OIL AGAIN AND SAID TO COME BACK AT THE 1,000 MILE MARK TO HAVE IT CHECKED AGAIN AND TO CHECK IT WEEKLY AS WELL. MADE IT TO ABOUT 800 MILES AND AGAIN NO OIL. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING AS TOYOTA CORPORATION GOT TO KNOW THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND NEED TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES AND FIX THIS ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT DRIVING A CAR WITH NO OIL SINCE THE OIL LIGHT NEVER COMES ON EITHER AS A WARNING. LASTLY, THE ADVISER DID SAY IT MAY BE SOMETHING WITH THE ENGINE THAT WOULD COST US UPWARD OF $5K TO $6K.
TWICE WHILE DRIVING LAST WEEK THE CAR ABRUPTLY AND ON ITS OWN, ACCELERATED TO A VERY HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THE FIRST TIME, I WAS ABLE TO SLOW IT DOWN. THE SECOND TIME I PUMPED ON THE BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES, WITHOUT RESULT. I KEPT PUMPING AND IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO STOP. SEVERAL MORE ATTEMPTS AND I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR. THE ENGINE REVVED OVER AND OVER AND IT TOOK QUITE A BIT OF EFFORT TO ACTUALLY STOP THE CAR. THE ENGINE ONLY STOP REVVING UP WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN PARK WHICH GAVE A HUGE JOLT TO THE CAR. I WAS ABLE TO STOP, BUT NOT EASILY. I HAD MY YOUNG SON IN THE CAR WITH ME AND IT WAS INCREDIBLY SCARY. THE ENGINE ONLY STOPPED REVVING WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN PARK WHICH CAUSED A HUGE JOLT OF THE CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PLASTIC BASE OF THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR FRACTURED, WHICH CAUSED THE SUN VISOR TO HANG, AND BLOCKED THE VISIBILITY OF THE DRIVER. NEITHER AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC NOR THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,000. UPDATED 11/27/2017*JS
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AROUND 5:45 A.M. ON 9-4-2017 AT ABOUT 60-65 MPH, WHEN I HEARD A LOUD BANG AND DISCOVERED THAT MY SUNROOF GLASS HAD EXPLODED AND SHATTERED. I DID NOT HIT ANYTHING, NOTHING WAS THROWN AT ME AND I WAS NOT UNDER AN OVERPASS. WHEN I GOT HOME, I EXAMINED THE ENTIRE TOP PORTION OF THE VEHICLE'S GLASS AND DID NOT OBSERVE ANY ROCKS, BOTTLES OR OTHER ITEMS THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED THE GLASS TO BREAK. I ALSO OBSERVED THAT THE GLASS WAS CURVED/BOWED UPWARD INDICATING THAT AN OBJECT DID NOT HIT IT. IT HAS BEEN EXTREMELY HOT IN THE SACRAMENTO AREA WITH TEMPERATURES REACHING OVER 110 DEGREES, SO NOT SURE IF THAT CONTRIBUTED TO THE GLASS SHATTERING. I HAVE RESEARCHED ONLINE AND DISCOVERED THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH VARIOUS MAKES AND MODELS OF VEHICLES, INCLUDING TOYOTA, WITH SEVERAL LAWSUITS AS WELL.
IN LESS THAN A YEAR AFTER I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE THE DRIVER SIDE VISOR STARTED TO FALL AND WOULD NOT STAY UP. I PURCHASED ANOTHER DRIVER SIDE VISOR (ABOUT $85.00). LATER I RECEIVED A LETTER ABOUT A RECALL ON THE VISOR. I STILL HAD MY RECEIPT AT THE TIME, THEREFORE I SUBMITTED IT FOR A REFUND. WELL GUESS WHAT, THE REPLACEMENT VISOR DID NOT LAST LONG. IT STARTED TO FALL (2012) AND FOR A WHILE IT WOULD STAY UP WHEN I PUSHED IT BACK UP, UNLESS I HIT A POTHOLE OR A BUMP. NOW (2016) IT WILL NO LONGER STAY UP. I AM NOT HAPPY THAT I WILL NEED TO SPEND ESTIMATE $85 FOR A THIRD VISOR THAT WILL ONLY LAST FOR HOW LONG? FIRST TIME SINCE I OWNED A CAR (THIS IS MY THIRD CAR AND FIRST TOYOTA. LAST CAR I HAD FOR 14 YEARS.) THAT I HAVE HAD THIS TYPE OF NON-MECHANICAL PROBLEMS WITH A CAR. I JUST HAD THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT REPLACED (SEPT. 2017) BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT STAY CLOSED NOR WOULD IT LOCK. IT JUST FELL OPEN WHILE I WAS PARKED AND WOULD NOT CLOSE AGAIN. THAT COST ME ALMOST $200 TO GET THE PARTS NEEDED TO FIX IT, BECAUSE A REPLACEMENT BOX FROM TOYOTA COST WAS $600.
DRIVERS SIDE VISOR BECAME DETACHED WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET. BECAME VERY LOOSE ALL OF A SUDDEN, BLOCKING VISION, AND THEN DETACHED. TOYOTA APPARENTLY HAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY OUT ON THE ISSUE BUT I AM JUST OUTSIDE OF THE WINDOW.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE SUN VISOR DROPPED DOWN AND BLOCKED THE CONTACT'S VIEW. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER; HOWEVER, JEFF WYLER TOYOTA WAS CONTACTED AT 812-284-2277 AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL FOR THE DEFECT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,000. UPDATED 10/26/17*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISOR FAILED AS WELL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. UPDATED 10/30/2017*JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISOR DETACHED FROM THE SUPPORT AND IMPAIRED THE CONTACT'S VIEW WHEN DRIVING. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CENTRAL TOYOTA (LOCATED AT 3305 STADIUM BLVD, JONESBORO, AR 72401), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR IS BROKEN. IT FELL WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. IT WILL NO LONGER STAY UP AND FALLS DOWN OBSTRUCTING THE DRIVER'S VIEW. IT ALSO FALLS DOWN WHEN ATTEMPTING TO USE IT FOR IT'S INTENDED PURPOSE, WHICH IS TO BLOCK THE SUN. TOYOTA HAS ISSUED A WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT BUT HAS PUT RESTRICTIONS ON THE CAR'S MODEL YEAR AND DATE OF PURCHASE. MY CAR IS A 2010, AND MISSED BEING ELIGABLE FOR THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMANET BY 3 MONTHS. MY SUN VISOR IS JUST AS BROKEN AS THE PERSON WHO BOUGHT THEIR CAR 3 MONTHS AFTER ME. I WOULD LIKE TO ASK NHTSA WHY A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED DUE TO THIS BEING A CHRONIC PROBLEM AND CERTAINLY A SAFETY ISSUE. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO ASK TOYOTA WHY THEY HAVE NOT ISSUED A VOLUNTARY RECALL, AS THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS DESIGN FLAW. AT THE VERY LEAST, WHY ARE ALL MODEL YEARS NOT INCLUDED IN THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE GEARS INDEPENDENTLY SHIFTED. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TCM MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 157,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THIS CAR HAS REQUIRED 6 SETS OF TIRES IN LESS THAN 90,0000 MILES. THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW WILL ROLL DOWN WHEN PRESSING THE BUTTON TO ROLL IT UP. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE THE FIRST OIL CHANGE. THE AIR CONDITIONER OCCASIONALLY SWITCHES ITSELF FROM RECYCLED TO FRESH AIR WHILE DRIVING FOR UNKNOWN REASONS. SENSOR IN PASSENGER SEAT MALFUNCTIONS CAUSING RANDOM ALARM ABOUT SEATBELT WHEN NO ONE IS SEATED THERE. THE DASHBOARD BECAME STICKY TO THE TOUCH, AND CLOTH WOULD STICK TO IT WHEN ATTEMPTING TO WIPE IT CLEAN. THE DASHBOARD THEN DEVELOPED SEVERAL DEEP CRACKS, RUNNING ERRATICALLY LY FROM FRONT TO BACK. IN PLACES AROUND TRIM PIECES, DASHBOARD PLASTIC HAS FLAKED AWAY. PLASTIC ON THE TOP OF THE CONSOLE'S LID HAS CHIPPED AND FLAKED AWAY, AND CRACKS HAVE DEVELOPED AROUND IT. PAINT ON TRIM OF CONSOLE HAS BUBBLED UP AND RUINED THE FINISH IN CONSOLE DRINK HOLDER LID. THE CD PLAYER MALFUNCTIONED, WITH A DISC READ ERROR REPORTED, THOUGH NO DISC WAS INSIDE THE PLAYER, REQUIRING REPLACEMENT OF SYSTEM. THE AUX AUDIO PORT FAILED AFTER ONLY A YEAR OF REGULAR USE. THE FLOOR MATS HAD TO BE REMOVED DUE TO THE ACCELERATION RECALL AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT DEALERSHIP WANTED TO PROVIDE RECALL SERVICE LIMITED TO SECURING THESE WITH A ZIP TIE. CARPETING BECAME STAINED AND FILTHY, AND COULD NOT BE EFFECTIVELY CLEANED, SO CARPETING HAD TO BE REPLACED BY OWNER. RECALL NOTICES RECEIVED FROM TOYOTA BY THE OWNER HAVE BEEN EXPRESSLY LIMITED TO WEIGHT CAPACITY RATING STICKER, ALTHOUGH THIS WAS TOYOTA FINANCED VEHICLE AND OWNER'S ADDRESS REMAINS UNCHANGED. OTHERWISE, ALL RECALL NOTICES RECEIVED BY REGISTERED OWNER, HAVE BEEN LIMITED TO THOSE REPORTED BY NHTSA FOLLOWING OWNER'S REGISTRATION AT WEBSITE. LOCAL DEALERSHIP HAS ROUTINELY BEEN UNCOOPERATIVE, DISMISSIVE, OR CONTENTIOUS WHEN WARRANTY SERVICE REQUESTS WERE MADE. DEALERSHIP OFFERS ONLY REASONS TO DENY WARRANTY REPAIRS OR REPLACEMENTS.
DASH BOARD IS STICKY AND MELTING. CALLED TOYOTA BECAUSE FOUND WARRANTY INFORMATION AND THEY SAID THEIR WARRANTY EXPIRED IN MAY 2017. IN MAY, MY DASHBOARD WAS FINE. TODAY'S DATE IS AUGUST 22, 2017. DOES TOYOTA KNOW EXACTLY HOW LONG THE DASHBOARD LASTS AND TERMINATE THEIR WARRANTY A MONTH PRIOR. CAR IS NOT DRIVABLE DUE TO SHINY REFLECTION OF SUN.
DASH HAS DEVELOPED A STICKY RESIDUE FROM THE SUNS HEAT. CLEANING THE DASH IS NOT AN OPTION. IT SEEMS TO ONLY MAKE IT WORSE.
SUN VISOR FLOPS DOWN OBSTRUCTING DRIVER'S VIEW. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT AND TOYOTA ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE FOR 7 YEARS OF WARRANTY REPAIR. HOWEVER, MY VISOR FAILED 3 1/2 MONTHS AFTER THE EXTENSION EXPIRED AND THE LOCAL DEALER AND TOYOTA AMERICA REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THE VISOR FLOPS DOWN AND WILL NOT STAY UP. IT OBSCURES THE DRIVER'S VISION.
SUN VISOR HAS DROPPED AND CAN FEEL SEPARATION ON SPINE OF VISOR.

2010 TOYOTA CAMRY. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION CAUSED A CRASH INVOLVING THREE CARS. *JS
I HAVE A 2010 TOYOTA CAMRY, AND THIS IS THE 3RD TIME I'M HAVING TO REPLACE THE VISORS IN THE CAR. THE LAST REPLACEMENT ONLY 3 YEARS AGO (JULY 2014). THE SPRINGS KEEP BREAKING, AND THE VISORS WILL NOT STAY UP NOR WILL THEY STAY ALL THE WAY DOWN. THEREFORE, IT IS OBSTRUCTING MY VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE NEVER DRIVEN WITH MY VISORS DOWN. THE ONLY REASON I EVER PUT THEM DOWN IS WHEN I PUT A THIN LITTLE SHADE IN THE WINDSHIELD WHILE AT WORK. OF ALL THE VEHICLES I HAVE EVER OWNED, I HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE VISORS, MUCH LESS 3 TIMES.
DASH IS STICKY, MELTING, BREAKING DOWN, AND DETERIORATING SINCE JUNE 2017. NO RECALL NOTICE FROM TOYOTA. I HAD NO IDEA THAT THEY HAD A LAWSUIT BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE UNTIL I RESEARCHED TO SEE IF OTHERS HAD SAME PROBLEM. I JUST THOUGHT IT WAS FROM THE HEAT UNTIL I WASN'T ABLE TO CLEAN IT OR REMOVE THE STICKINESS AND IT WAS GETTING WORSE BY THE DAY. FEARFUL TO DRIVE MY CAR,AS THE DASH HAS BEEN COMPROMISED. ANYTHING THAT TOUCHES IT LEAVES AN IMPRINT OR INDENTION. ANYTHING THAT TOUCHES IT STICKS TO IT. WHEN YOUR DIVING THERE IS GLARE FROM THE RESIDUE THAT HAS BEEN BROKEN DOWN AND SINCE EVERYTHING STICKS TO IT AND YOU CAN'T CLEAN IT OFF THAT MAKES IT HARD TO DRIVE BECAUSE OF THE GLARE. TOYOTA HAS REPLACE SEVERAL DASHES, BUT HAT ABOUT THE ONES THAT HAVE BROKEN DOWN AFTER THERE TIME FRAME HAS ELAPSED? MINE DIN'T HAVE ANY ISSUES UNTIL AFTER THEIR TIME FRAME EXPIRED, SO I'M I JUST OUT OF LUCK AND I'M SUPPOSED TO REPAIR THEIR INFERIOR PRODUCT? I'M WORRIED THAT IF I WERE IN AN ACCIDENT THAT THE DASH WOULD JUST CRUMBLE AND NOT PROTECT MY FAMILY OR MYSELF. I NEED HELP, I'M FEARFUL TO DRIVE MY CAR, BUT I HAVE TO SINCE IT'S MY ONLY ONE. SHOULDN'T TOYOTA HAVE SENT OUT A RECALL NOTICE TO EVERYONE THAT WAS AFFECTED?
MY DASHBOARD HAS BECOME STICKY. IT APPEARS THAT IT IS MELTING.
DRIVER SIDE VISOR FELL DOWNWARD AND WILL NOT STAY UP THUS IMPAIRED DRIVER VISIBILITY. THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING.
MY TRUNK RELEASE IS BROKEN FROM THE FLOOR AND THE DASHBOARD IS VERY STICKY/SHINY WHICH CAUSES GLARE FREON THE SUN
DRIVER VISOR, AFTER IT IS EXTENDED TO THE SIDE, DOES FALL AND SAG FURTHER THAN IT SHOULD, COVERING A LOWER PORTION THAN NORMAL OF THE SIDE DRIVER WINDOW. VISIBILITY TO THE SIDE IS GREATLY REDUCED; IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE TRAFFIC APPROACHING PERPENDICULARLY FROM THE LEFT SIDE, AND I AM A RELATIVELY SHORT DRIVER. TOYOTA SAYS THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND EVEN HAD A 7 YEAR WARRANTY EXTENSION CALLED CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM ZTT. THIS PROBLEM IS NOW EVIDENT IN MY CAR, WHICH IS 7.5 YEARS OLD, AND TOYOTA REFUSES TO COVER IT. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THAT 7 YEAR WARRANTY EXTENSION WAS JUST A CHEAP SUBSTITUTE FOR WHAT SHOULD BE A RECALL. BRIEF ENGINE KNOCK/RATTLE NOISE AT COLD STATUP (1AR/2AR). PER TOYOTA T-SB-0041-13 -- IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING A COLD STARTUP, SOME 2009-2013 MODEL YEAR VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH THE 1AR-FE AND 2AR-FE ENGINES MAY EXHIBIT A BRIEF KNOCK/RATTLE NOISE FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE SECOND. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK MY VEHICLE ON APRIL 20, 2017, MY CAR SURGED FORWARD AND DID NOT SLOW DOWN WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED. I HIT ANOTHER PARKED VEHICLE AND DID CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE TO THAT VEHICLE AS WELL AS TO THE FRONT END OF MY CAR. OVER $6,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE WAS DONE TO MY CAR ALONE. ON SEPT. 7, 2017, AGAIN WHILE TRYING TO PARK MY CAR, I WAS ADVANCING VERY SLOWLY AND PRESSING VERY LIGHTLY ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WHEN THE CAR SURGED FORWARD VERY QUICKLY. I TRIED WITH GREAT FORCE TO APPLY THE BRAKE SO AS NOT TO HIT ANY OTHER VEHICLES NEAR ME. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO STOP BUT WAS FRIGHTENED TO DEATH. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DID NOT RESPOND APPROPRIATELY TO THE LITTLE PRESSURE I APPLIED WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PART THE CAR IN BOTH INSTANCES.
THE ENGINE BURNS OIL EXCESSIVELY OVER 5 QTS PER OIL CHANGE EVERY 5000 MILES. I'M AFRAID THIS ENGINE MAY FAIL ON THE HIGHWAY AND CREATE UNSAFE SITUATION DURING REGULAR COMMUTES . I ALSO BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM IS GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE, THIS OIL BURNING STARTED 4 YEARS AGO AT A SMALLER RATE 1 -2 QT PER OIL CHANGE NOW IT HAS DOUBLED. THERE HAS BEEN A TOYOTA EXTENDED WARRANTY ISSUED FROM TOYOTA FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM FOR 2009 CAMRYS,BUT TOYOTA REFUSES TO GIVE THIS WARRANTY TO 2010 CAMRY OWNERS.THEY SAY ANY ENGINE DAMAGES IS THE CUSTOMERS RESPONSIBILITY. TOYOTA NEEDS TO ISSUE ANOTHER RECALL OR WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR THIS 2010 YEAR AND ANY OTHERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE.

DRIVER SIDE VISOR DOES NOT STAY UP BUT FALLS INTO VIEW OF DRIVER OBSTRUCTING VISIBILITY. TOYOTA RECALLED BUT IT RECURRED WITH 12 MONTHS. SERIOUS PROBLEM AS IT HAPPENS AT ALL SPEEDS, INCLUDING HIGHWAY SPEEDS. IT COST $200.00 TO REPAIR AND REPAIR WILL BE DELAYED FOR MANY CAUSING HAZARD ON HIGHWAY. TOYOTA ACKNOWLEDGED PROBLEM BY RECALL BUT ADVISES THAT THEY WILL FIX PROBLEM ONLY ONCE.
ON 2 OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING AT SPEED (65-70 MPH) IN TRAFFIC ON A MAJOR INTERSTATE, MY CAR LOST POWER (IT DID NOT CUT OFF--ONLY LOST POWER). AFTER WORKING MY WAY OFF OF THE INTERSTATE HWY., I WAS ABLE TO USE A CODE READER AND FOUND THAT DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE P2112 HAD BEEN SET (THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM-STUCK CLOSED). AFTER ERASING THE DTC THE CAR RAN OK. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE--ONCE ON 02/16/2017 (MILEAGE 75,465) AND A SECOND TIME ON 04/10/2017 (MILEAGE 75,829). FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS IN TOYOTA'S SERVICE MANUAL FOR THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE, I CHECKED THE RESISTANCE OF THE THROTTLE ACTUATOR ON THE THROTTLE BODY AND FOUND IT WAS WELL WITHIN SPECIFICATIONS--MEASURED 4 OHMS AND SPEC IS 0.3-100 OHMS). IN MY OPINION, LOSING POWER IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON A MAJOR INTERSTATE IS A VERY HAZARDOUS SITUATION.
THE CAR'S DASHBOARD HAS MELTED FROM SUN EXPOSURE, LEAVING A SHINY, GLOSSY, STICKY COATING ON IT THAT, WHEN HIT BY THE SUN AT CERTAIN ANGLES, CAUSES A BLINDING GLARE INTO THE DRIVER'S EYES AND A BRIGHT REFLECTION OF THE DASH ONTO THE WINDSHIELD, RESULTING IN LIMITED VISIBILITY AND BLIND SPOTS. TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM THAT WAS CAUSED BY MATERIALS OF INSUFFICIENT QUALITY AND ISSUED A WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT TO FIX THE PROBLEM. UNFORTUNATELY, AS A SECONDARY OWNER OF THE VEHICLE, I WAS NEVER INFORMED OF THIS AND DID NOT KNOW THE PROBLEM WAS WIDESPREAD AND MATERIAL-RELATED UNTIL I RECENTLY FOUND THAT INFORMATION ONLINE. THE WARRANTY EXTENSION PERIOD HAS NOW EXPIRED, BUT IN CASES LIKE MINE, THE ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN FIXED, LEAVING THE VEHICLE WITH A CONDITION THAT UNNECESSARILY CAUSES A SAFETY DEFICIENCY.

The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The transmission was slipping. There were no warning lights illuminated. IT HAPPENED 9/20/16 ON MY TOYOTA CAMRY 2010 WITH 57037 MILES I WAS DRIVING EAST IN THE SUN WITH SUN VISOR DOWN AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VISOR COMES FROM THE LINK, SO I HAD IMMEDIATELY APPLY BRAKES TO AVOID ANY MISHAP DUE TO SUN VISOR BREAKING. THE SUN VISOR REPLACE/REPAIR IS COVERED BY THE TOYOTA WARRANTY BUT TOYOTA IS SAYING THAT ONLY CERTAIN VIN NUMBERS ARE COVERED THIS IS RIDICULOUS, I HAD MY PREGNANT WIFE SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SIDE, TOYOTA IS NOT ENTERTAINING THE CLAIM TO FIX OR REPLACE THE SUN VISOR. CURRENTLY I HAVE NO SUN VISOR ON THE DRIVER SIDE.

RESTARTED THE CAR AND DROVE TO BE CHECKED AT A DEALER WHO SAID EVERYTHING SHOULD BE FINE EXCEPT FOR THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. RESTARTED THE CAR AND THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WORKED WELL THIS TIME. TWO DAYS LATER, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TURNED ON ALL OF WARNING LIGHTS AND THEN WENT BLACK AGAIN, AT THE SAME TIME, THE CAR LOST POWER AND I COULDN'T SPEED IT UP. PULL OVER AND RESTARTED IT, EVERYTHING TURNED TO BE OK. SO, I SENT IT THE LOCAL DEALER WHO REPLACED THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. I KEEP THE BROKEN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IN CASE FOR NEED OF FURTHER INVESTIGATION.
I HAVE GOTTEN TWO OIL CHANGES IN TWO WEEKS. THE VEHICLE BURNS OIL TO EMPTY EVERY 4-5 DAYS. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE CUTS OFF COMPLETELY AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS. THIS IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING ON MAJOR HIGHWAYS AND INTERSTATES. I WORK AS A REALTOR PART-TIME AND FOR THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT FULL-TIME. BY SEPTEMBER 2016, IT WAS NO LONGER RETRACTING AT ALL MAKING IT HARD FOR ME WHAT WAS GOING ON AROUND ME IN TRAFFIC. BY THE END OF SEPTEMBER 2016, THE VISOR IS COMPLETELY OFF.
THE DASHBOARD IS STICKY AND IT IS MELTING. ESPECIALLY, ON A HOT DAY. AS A RESULT, WHEN DRIVING, IT AFFECTING VISIBILITY DUE TO REFLECTION TO THE WINDSHIELD FROM THE MELTING DASHBOARD.
