WHEN HAVING MY ANNUAL INSPECTION I WAS TOLD THAT MY STRUTS WERE LEAKING AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. OF COURSE MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF THE 3 YEAR WARRANTY GIVEN BY TOYOTA. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 24,500 MILES ON IT AND ACCORDING TO MY MECHANIC THERE IS NO WAY THE STRUTS SHOULD BE LEAKING. I CALLED TOYOTA AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALL. I WAS GIVEN A CASE NUMBER IN CASE THERE IS ONE IN THE FUTURE. IT IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET, TOYOTA'S WITH LOW MILEAGE HAVING LEAKING STRUTS. I GUESS TOYOTA DOESN'T CARE AB OUT OBVIOUS PARTS DEFECTS UNTIL MULTIPLE PEOPLE LOSE THEIR LIVES DUE TO THE DEFECTS. *TR
AT 67,000 MILES, REAR BEARING UNIT WENT OUT. NOW AT 87,000 MILES AND SOUNDS LIKE IT IS GOING BAD AGAIN. *TR
WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR IT HAD 39,675 MILES ON IT. THE CAR WAS CERTIFIED. AT 89,226 MILES I HAD TO HAVE MAINTENANCE ON THE WHEEL BEARING - REPLACED INNER AND OUTER BEARINGS (CUPS AND SEALS AND REPACKED WHERE NECESSARY). LEFT FRONT WHEEL. REPAIR MILEAGE REAR BRAKE CYLINDER 46,804 LEFT FRONT WHEEL BEARING 89,226 ENGINE REPLACE SENT PRIOR COMPLAINT. I AM SO, SO, SO, UPSET WITH TOYOTA. *TR
2010 TOYOTA CAMRY XLE HAS A MELTING DASHBOARD DURING SUN EXPOSURE. THE DASHBOARD IS STICKY AND HAS A VERY SHINY SURFACE, MAKING DRIVING DIFFICULT DUE TO REFLECTIONS. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD! *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 42 MPH AND CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE DUE TO A BRAKING FAILURE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELTS FAILED TO RESTRAIN THE CONTACT. CONSEQUENTLY, THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A FRACTURED NOSE, BRUISING AND LACERATIONS TO THE FACE. THE CONTACT WAS TRANSPORTED FROM THE SCENE VIA AMBULANCE FOR TREATMENT OF INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT NO EXPLANATION WAS OFFERED AS TO WHY THE CRASH OCCURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000.
I PURCHASED THIS CAR FROM TEAM TOYOTA/AUTO NATION MAR. 14, 2013. IT HAD 38940 MILES. ON NOV. 9, 2013, I REAR ENDED A CAR THAT HAD STOP ON THE FREEWAY. I ATTEMPT TO STOP, AND MY BRAKES DID NOT WORK. I ALWAYS HAD TO BRAKE DOWN TO GET MY CAR TO STOP, AND THINKING NOW MY BRAKES DID NOT WORK PROPERLY. MY SEATBELT NEVER LOCKED ME IN AND MY AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I SUFFER A BROKEN NOSE, 7 STITCHES AND BRUISE MY HEAD HIT THE STEERING WHEEL.I WAS TOLD BY A MECHANIC THAT IF A PERSON TAKE THEIR CAR TO A MECHANIC AND PAY CASH FOR THEIR DAMAGE YOU WILL NEVER KNOW ITS BEEN WRECK BEFORE. WOULD LIKE TO BE PUT ON RECORD THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE CAM GEAR ON THIS MODEL. VEHICLE WAS WORKED ON ONCE TO REPAIR COLD START NOISE (APROX. 10 SECONDS). FIX LASTED ABOUT A MONTH AND NOISE HAS RETURNED. SOUNDS LIKE NO OIL/LUBRICATION IS GETTING TO CAM GEAR AREA. CONCERNED THAT ENGINE MAY BECOME DAMAGED BECAUSE OF THIS. *TR
ON 9/24/2013, I WAS AT MY WAY SISTER HOME COME FROM WORK, ABOUT TO DRIVE OFF, WHEN THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN OVER IT SOUND IT WAS FLOOD IT SO I LET IT SIT FOR A WHILE AND IT STILL WILL NOT START SO I CALL THE TOW TRUCK TO COME AND GET AND TAKE IT TO THE SHOP TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON THAT MORNING BUT IT START UP FINE, BUT TO MY SURPRISE IT WOULD NOT START AGAIN. LEFT IT AT THE SHOP AND THEY CALL ME THE NEXT MORNING AND SAID THEY CHECK THE SENOR AS THE COMPUTER CODE TOLD THEM TO BUT IT WASN'T THE SENSOR. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION THEY TOOK APART THE PASSENGER SIDE WHEELS TO SHOW ME THAT THE CRANKSHAFT FLY WHEEL INSIDE THE ENGINE WAS MESSED UP AND THE SENSOR WASN'T DETECTING IT ANY MORE. I HAVE 81000 MILES ON THIS 2010 TOYOTA CAMRY. AFTER TAKING THE WHEEL OFF, SPEAKING TO A MECHANIC WHO WAS WORKING ON MY VEHICLE. ASK THE MECHANIC IF THIS WAS JUST A FLUKE DEAL OR IF THE DEALERSHIP HAD SEEN MANY BROKEN CRANKSHAFT ON TOYOTA'S. A FEW DAYS LATER THE SERVICE PERSONNEL TOLD ME HE DOESN'T KNOW HOW THIS COULD HAVE HAPPEN. HOW MANY PEOPLE WHO OWN TOYOTA'S HAVE HAD TO REPORT A BROKEN CRANKSHAFT? IT SOUNDS TO ME LIKE TOYOTA SHOULD KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS PART. IS THIS GOING TO BE ANOTHER BIT OF INFORMATION THAT GETS KEPT FROM CONSUMERS? STOP WITH TRAFFIC IN FRONT. CAR HITS ME INTO TRAFFIC FROM BE HIND VARY FAST DAMAGE TO FRONT AND BACK SWASHED MY CAR. AIR BAGS DID NOT GO OFF FOR A FAST HIT FRONT AND BACK ALL AT THE SAME BAG. THAT IS WHAT MAKING ME SCARED OF BEING IN THE CAR. *TR
WHEN I OPERATE MY HEAT OR AIR CONDITIONING IN MY 2010 TOYOTA CAMRY I GET A STRONG SMELL OF SULFUR IN THE CABIN OF MY CAR. I OWNED MY CAR FOR 4 YEARS NOW AND THE PROBLEM STARTED ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO. NO ONE CAN TELL ME THE EXACT CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM.
SEPT.16, 2013,THE CAR MADE A LOUD NOISE AND I PULLED THE CAR OVER TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD TURNED THE CAR OFF TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE, I FOUND NOTHING WRONG, I CONTACTED A WRECKER AND THE CLOSEST TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE CAR DELIVERED FOR REPAIRS. SEPT. 17,I CALLED THEM TO FIND OUT WHAT THEY FOUND OUT ABOUT MY CAR; I WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICE ADVISOR THAT THERE IS A HOLE IN YOUR BLOCK.I ASKED HOW COULD A CAR WITH ONLY 56K MI. THROW A ROD. HE SAID THEY DIDN'T KNOW YET AND WOULD GET BACK WITH ME. SEPT.19, I PROVIDED THE DEALERSHIP WITH ALL OF MY SERVICE RECORDS.THEY CONTACTED TOYOTA AND CALLED ON SEPT. 20 THEY WERE GOING TO REMOVE THE ENGINE TO LOOK FOR THE FAILURE. THEY STATED ONE OF TWO THINGS WERE THE CAUSE; THE CAR WAS DRIVEN INTO A DEEP-WATER PUDDLE ALLOWING WATER INTRUSION INTO THE ENGINE OR A COMPONENT FAILURE. I STATED IT WASN'T EVEN RAINING HE DAY OF THE INCIDENT, HIS REPLY WAS THEN YOU HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. SEPT.23 THEY CALLED TO INFORM ME THE ENGINE WAS REMOVED, PHOTOS WERE TAKEN AND SENT TO TOYOTA FOR REVIEW. TOYOTA'S STANCE WAS THEY WERE NOT GOING TO REPLACE THE ENGINE UNDER WARRANTY. TOYOTA CLAIMS THAT AT SOMETIME I ALLOWED THE OIL LEVEL TO GET LOW, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO OVER HEAT AND WHICH LEAD TO THIS FAILURE. I STATED THAT WAS UTTERLY FALSE, I ROUTINELY CHECK THE OIL LEVEL IN THAT CAR, IT NEVER REQUIRES TOP OFF OIL IN BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. HE APOLOGIZED AND SAID THAT IS WHAT TOYOTA IS SAYING. I RESEARCHED AND FOUND TOYOTA HAS EXPERIENCED SIMILAR ENGINE FAILURES AND THEY TEND TO PUSH BACK HONORING WARRANTY CLAIMS. IT IS SUSPICIOUS THEY DID NOT REMOVE THE VALVE COVERS TO CHECK FOR PROBABLE CAUSES IN THE HEAD AREA SINCE THAT HAS BEEN THE CAUSE OF THESE TYPE ENGINE FAILURES. AT THIS POINT, I HAVE BEEN ADVISED TO FILE THIS COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA; COMPLAINTS WITH TOYOTA CUSTOMER RELATIONS ANDTHE OWNER OF THE DEALERSHIP HAVE ALSO BEEN FILED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DESTROYED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION BUT THE CAUSE OF FAILURE WAS UNIDENTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. VEHICLE WAS NOT IN MOTION OR TURNED ON. NOTICED THE VISOR WAS DOWN WHEN I ENTERED THE VEHICLE AND TRIED TO PUSH IT BACK IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION AND IT KEPT FALLING-SO FINALLY GOT IT TO STICK IN THE CLAMP SO IT WOULD NOT FALL OUT AND WITHOUT THINKING I MOVED IT TO BLOCKED THE SUN WHEN I WAS DRIVING AND IT BLOCKED MY VIEW AND FELL OFF ON THIS WEEK. MY CAR MILEAGE IS AT 127,000 MILES AND I AM GOING TO CALL THE CAR DEALERSHIP ON THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY TO SEE IF THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS-IT SHOULD BE SINCE THIS IS DEFINITELY A DRIVING HAZARD.
SUN VISOR STARTED FALLING DOWN - COULD NOT MAKE IT STAY UP. MAKES IT HARD TO SEE AT NIGHT. I FIXED IT SO IT WOULD STAY UP BUT NOW CAN'T MOVE IT DOWN IN BRIGHT SUNLIGHT. VERY HAZARDOUS TO BE DRIVING THIS WAY. I DON'T HAVE MONEY FOR THE EXPENSIVE REPAIRS. DO YOU WARRANTY THIS SAFETY ISSUE??? *TR

NOTIFIED DEALER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS USING EXCESSIVE OIL. DEALER RAN ON OIL CONSUMPTION CHECK AND DURING FIRST OIL CONSUMPTION TEST DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD USED 1 QT OF OIL WITHIN 1000 MILES. DEALER RAN SECOND OIL CONSUMPTION CHECK AND DETERMINED WITHIN 1000 MILES THE VEHICLE HAS USED 1.2 QTS OF OIL. THE THIRD CHECK PRODUCED 0.5 QTS OF OIL LOST WITHIN 4212 MILES. DEALER FELT THAT THIS AMOUNT OF OIL LOSS WAS ACCEPTABLE. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE WHEN HE WAS ADVISED THAT THE FRONT AND REAR STRUTS WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THEY WERE LEAKING OIL. MY CAR HAS BEEN MAKING NOISES FOR A WHILE...IN THE FRONT WHEN I WOULD GO OVER A BUMP IT WOULD SOUND LIKE THE FRONT END WAS BOUNCING, THE OTHER NOISE IS A THUNK IN THE BACK WHEN I WOULD GO OVER A BUMP OR DOWN A DRIVEWAY. I JUST RECENTLY HAD MY OIL CHANGED AT A TOYOTA DEALER AND ASKED THEM TO LOOK AT THE PROBLEM. THEY SAID MY FRONT STRUT SHOULD BE REPLACED AND THAT IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE IT EXPIRED AT 36,000 MILES. TODAY I JUST WENT TO FIRESTONE TO HAVE MY TIRES ROTATED (I HAD TO PURCHASE NEW TIRES A WHILE BACK {AROUND 20,000 MILES} BECAUSE OF CUPPING FROM MY ORIGINAL TIRES, WHICH TOYOTA ALSO CLAIMED NO RESPONSIBILITY) AND THEY STATED THAT I NEED ALL FOUR STRUTS REPLACED BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL LEAKING. I CONTACTED TOYOTA, NOT THE DEALER BUT ACTUAL TOYOTA AND I STATED THAT THEY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING THE STRUTS BECAUSE THE VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE THAT MANY MILES ON IT AND THAT THE NOISE DID BEGIN BEFORE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. AT THIS POINT THEY ARE HAVING ME PAY A DEALER TO LOOK AT THE STRUTS AND QUOTE A PRICE IF THEY "FEEL" THEY NEED TO BE REPLACED. BUT THE ADVISOR IMMEDIATELY TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NORMAL LEAKING ON STRUTS AND THAT'S PROBABLY WHAT FIRESTONE IS REFERRING TO. SO I ALREADY FEEL THAT THEY ARE GOING TO STATE THAT IT IS "NORMAL" LEAKAGE. UPON LOOKING ONLINE I FOUND THAT MULTIPLE PEOPLE HAVE PLACED COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS MATTER. I FEEL THAT TOYOTA IS GOING TO GO ROUND AND ROUND WITH THE ISSUE SINCE THEY DO NOT WANT TO PAY TO FIX THE ISSUE. THIS IS ALSO ONE OF MANY ISSUES I HAVE HAD WITH THIS CAR. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO EXIT A PARKING SPACE, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, TRAVELED OVER A SIDE WALK, CRASHED INTO A TREE AND FINALLY CRASHED INTO A BUILDING. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE NECK AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE STOMACH AND RIBS. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. AN ENGINEER WAS SENT TO INSPECT THE AIR BAG AND ACCELERATION FAILURE OF THE VEHICLE BUT IT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
BLOWER MOTOR WENT BAD ON 2010 TOYOTA CAMRY. DEALERSHIP SAY NO RECALL ON THIS, I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS ALMOST NEVER GO OUT ESPECIALLY THE AGE OF THE CAR. *TR
FOR ABOUT A LITTLE OVER A YEAR NOW, THE DASHBOARD ON MY TOYOTA CAMRY HAS REACTED VERY ODDLY TO THE HEAT IT ENDURES. THE DASHBOARD LOOKS LIKE IT MELTS WHEN ITS HOT OUTSIDE THEN BECOMES VERY STICKY. IT LOOKS TERRIBLE. IF YOU TOUCH IT, IT FEELS LIKE GLUE. THE DASHBOARD GETS SO SLIMY THAT IF YOU ACTUALLY PUNCTURE IT WITH A FINGERNAIL, THE MATERIAL OF THE DASHBOARD GETS UNDER YOUR NAIL. I HAVE ONLY HAD MY VEHICLE FOR FOUR YEARS AND I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH TOYOTA. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 60. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON BUT I WAS TOLD BY TOYOTA THAT I CAN STILL DRIVE CAR AS LONG AS IT IS NOT BLINKING. MY SERVICE APPOINTMENT WAS FOR NEXT DAY THURSDAY THE 12TH. WHILE ON HIGHWAY CAR LOST ALL POWER STARTED TO SLOW DOWN AND LIGHTS STARTED BLINKING. A HUGE TRUCK WAS BEHIND ME AND WAS BEEPING TO AVOID HITTING ME. I MANAGED TO PULL CAR TO SIDE IF HIGHWAY AND CAR SHUT OFF BY ITSELF. I WAITED 5 MIN AND THE CAR STATED AND I MANAGED TO GET HOME. THE CAR WHEN DRIVEN DOES NOT BRAKE WELL, IT FEELS LIKE CAR HAS A MIND OF ITS OWN. THE BRAKES DO NOT BRAKE WELL AND THE CAR JUMPS. YOU CANNOT CONTROL. I AM BRINGING TO TOYOTA TODAY TO GET THE RESULTS. *TR
AT LOW SPEEDS, VEHICLE IS CONSTANTLY SHIFTING GEARS, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO MAINTAIN CONSTANT SPEED UNDER 40 MPH WITHOUT COMPLETE CONCENTRATION ON THROTTLE OR BY UTILIZING CRUISE CONTROL. GAS PEDAL IS HIGHLY SENSITIVE AND ANY SMALL INCREASE IN DEPRESSION OF PEDAL AT LOW SPEEDS CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO JERK FORWARD. VEHICLE FAILS TO GO INTO NEUTRAL AND DECELERATES RAPIDLY WHEN GAS PEDAL IS RELEASED. COMPUTER MEMORY HAS BEEN REFLASHED TWICE BY DEALER WITH NO RESOLUTION. IN MY 50 YEARS ON THE ROAD, THIS IS THE MOST DANGEROUS AND AGGRAVATING VEHICLE I HAVE EVER DRIVEN. THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE/TRANSMISSION COMBINATION ON THIS MODEL IS NOT DESIGNED CORRECTLY AND THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS SECURED IN PARK, THE ENGINE BEGAN TO INCREASE IN RPMS. AFTER PRESSING ON THE BRAKES, THE RPMS RETURNED TO NORMAL. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, AND OFFERED NO REMEDY. THERE WAS NO DIAGNOSIS ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 39,800. UPDATED 11/24/14*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO INCREASE IN RPM'S WHILE IN PARK. I LIVE IN S. FLORIDA, AND OVER THE PAST YEAR, I'VE NOTICED THAT MY DASHBOARD IS MELTING FASTER AND FASTER EVERYDAY. IT ALSO IS VERY SHINY IN THE WORST AREAS AND IS VERY STICKY. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO, AS I CAN'T AFFORD TO REPLACE IT. I BELIEVE THE MANUFACTURER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING IT AS THEY SOLD A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. I'VE LIVED HERE FOR MORE THAN 25 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS WITH ANY OTHER CAR I'VE OWNED, SOME OF WHICH WERE MANY YEARS OLDER THAT MY CURRENT 4-YEAR-OLD TOYOTA CAMRY. IN ADDITION, WHEN DRIVING AT MORE THAN 60 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES EVEN SLIGHTLY, AND THE CAR VIBRATES. I'VE HAD IT CHECKED TWICE BY A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND THEY CLAIM EVERYTHING IS FINE AND IT'S JUST THE ANTI LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM FUNCTIONING. HOWEVER, THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. IT FEELS UNSAFE TO ME, AND I DON'T BUY THEIR EXPLANATION. AFTER GOOGLING THE PROBLEM, THERE SEEMS TO BE OTHERS WITH THIS PROBLEM ON THE SAME CAR. IT HAS BEEN SUGGESTED THAT THE ROTOR IS TOO SMALL FOR THE INCREASED CAMRY SIZE AND THUS BECOMES WARPED. THIS ALSO SHOULD BE EXAMINED AND REPLACED FREE OF COST BY THE MANUFACTURER IF THIS IS THE CAUSE. DASH HAS A STICKY/GOOEY FEEL TO IT. TRIED SEVERAL PRODUCTS TO REMOVE STICKINESS THEN REALIZED DASH IS ACTUALLY MELTING AND THIS IS GLUE COMING UP THROUGH THE DASH ITSELF. THIS MAKES THE DASH VERY SHINY AND CAUSES A TERRIBLE GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD CAUSING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE. TOYOTA NEEDS TO RECALL THIS AS IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD! TIRE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT LEFT FRONT AND RIGHT REAR STRUTS WERE LEAKING AND THAT ALL FOUR SHOULD BE REPLACED. TOOK CAR TO TOYOTA DEALER (CAR UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY), WHERE DEALER SAID HE WOULD REPLACE ONLY LEFT FRONT STRUT, AND THAT SOME LEAKING WAS ACCEPTABLE (MANUFACTURER'S POLICY). STRUT WAS REPLACED. HOWEVER, WHEELS WERE NOT ALIGNED, AS IS IMPORTANT WHENEVER STRUTS ARE REPLACED. ALSO, IT'S NOT GOOD PRACTICE TO REPLACE ONLY ONE STRUT--NO ONE REPLACES ONLY ONE TIRE (OR ON OLDER CARS, ONE SHOCK ABSORBER) FOR THE SAME REASON--IT CAN CREATE A DANGEROUS IMBALANCE. I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE/TIRE ROTATION, AND WAS TOLD 3 OUT OF 4 STRUTS WERE LEAKING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WITH ONLY 56,000 MILES THIS SHOULD NOT BE SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY TOYOTA. I ENTERED A PARKING SPOT AND WAS MOVING SLOWLY TOWARD PARKING LOT'S WALL AT THE MINIMAL SPEED JUST ABOVE ZERO (0) MPH, SUDDENLY CAR INCREASED A SPEED IN A SECOND ON ITS OWN AND CRASHED INTO A PARKING LOT WALL - SHORT DISTANCE & SUDDEN AND UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION DIDN'T ALLOW TIME TO PRESS THE BRAKES. CAR'S WHOLE FRONT IS DAMAGED: HOOD, LIGHTS, WINDSHIELD GLASS (BROKEN BY MY HEAD), RADIATOR AND BUMPER. ALSO, AFTER THE CRUSH SMOKE/STEAM WAS COMING OUT OF THE CAR AND THE DRIVER'S DOOR JAMED. I CHECKED WITH SEVERAL OTHER MECHANICS, AS WELL AS OTHER CAR DEALERSHIPS (NOT TOYOTA), AND ALL AGREED....4 STRUTS NEEDING REPLACING AT 39K WAS NOT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR! OF COURSE, MY WARRANTY RAN OUT APPROX. 6MONTHS AND 3K MILES AGO. I AM SURE THE STRUTS WERE LEAKING THEN, BUT I WASN'T MADE AWARE UNTIL AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. TOYOTA OFFERED TO HELP WITH THE COST ,BUT THE TOTAL BILL IS SO HIGH IT IS JUST A DROP IN THE BUCKET. WHILE GOING DOWN THE STREET AND BRAKING AT AROUND 15 MPH I NOTICED A CREAKING NOISE. THE NOISE CONTINUED WHILE BRAKING, AND GOING OVER RAILROAD TRACKS AND UNEVEN PAVEMENTS. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE TOYOTA DEALER IN TOWN TO HAVE THE PROBLEM CHECKED OUT. THEY FOUND OUT THAT THE BODY STRUCTURE WAS MESSED UP. THE (A-PILLAR) WAS NOT CONNECTED TO THE MAIN FRAME. THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT THE PROBLEM, THAT I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE IT TO A BODY SHOP TO BE WELDED, THEY ALSO SAID AND GAVE ME PAPERWORK SAYING IT WAS A DEFECT IN THE 2007-2011 TOYOTA MODELS. *TR
ON MY WAY TO WORK ON NEW YEARS EVE 2012 I LOST CONTROL OF MY 2010 TOYOTA CAMRY AND WENT OF THE ROAD AND HIT A TELEPHONE POLE AT ABOUT 30 MILES PER HOUR. I WAS KNOCKED UNCONCIOUS AND SUFFERED IMMEDIATELY NOTICABLE INJURIES TO MY FACE, ARMS, CHEST AND KNEES. THE POLICE SAID I WAS NOT WEARING MY SEATBELT AND NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AT ALL. I ALWAYS WEAR MY SEATBELT, NO MATTER WHAT! ON TOP OF THAT, THE DINGER THAT GOES OFF WHEN THERE IS NO SEATBELT ON IS VERY ANNOYING AND ALONE WOULD CAUSE ME TO PUT IT ON. THERE IS NO WAY I WOULD LISTEN TO A DINGER FOR A 45 MIN DRIVE TO WORK AND NOT PUT MY SEATBELT ON, AND I WAS 10 MINUTES FROM WORK WHEN IT HAPPENED. THE ONLY EXPLANATION IS THAT THE SEATBELT WAS CLIPPED ENOUGH TO TURN OFF THE DINGER BUT NOT ENOUGH TO LOCK BECAUSE MY INJURIES INDICATE THAT I DID NOT HAVE ANY BRUISING OR MARKS FROM A SEATBELT AND MY HEAD HAD CRACKED THE WINDSHIELD, WHICH WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE WITH A SEALTBELT THAT WORKED AND AN AIRBAG THAT DEPLOYED PROPERLY. THIS WAS THE SECOND ACCIDENT WHERE THIS CAR DID NOT DEPLOY THE AIRBAG. THE FIRST WAS A REAREND THAT SHOVED MY CAR INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND NO AIRBAG DEPLOYED. AFTER INSURANCE LOOKED AT THE CAR, IT WAS DETERMINED IT WAS A TOTAL LOSS FROM THE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END. *TR
