PERSISTENT MODERATELY LOUD KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ROOF. AS SOON AS YOU START DRIVING, THE KNOCKING SOUND OCCURS, STOPS, AND STOPS AGAIN. IT IS MOST PERSISTENT WHILE DRIVING OVER UNEVEN STREET PAVEMENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE WOULD DECELERATE INSTEAD AND WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO PUMP THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL A FEW TIMES BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD RESPOND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 1,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 3,500. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. ...UPDATED 04-03-13 *BF
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHENEVER HE EXITED THE VEHICLE, HE EXPERIENCED A SHOCK OF STATIC ELECTRICITY. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED OF THE POTENTIAL DANGER INVOLVED BECAUSE BOTH HE AND HIS WIFE USED PACEMAKERS. A DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO WIPE THE SEATS DOWN WITH DRYER SHEETS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 7,005. UPDATED 6/14/13 *CN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP AFTER THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE DIFFERENT TIMES. THE SECOND TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE DRIVER CRASHED INTO A LIGHT POST. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,000.
A RATTLE OR POPPING NOISE COMING FROM THE MOONROOF ABOVE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. ON 2/7/13 A REPAIR WAS MADE AND WAS TOLD THAT WELDING DEBRIS WAS FOUND ON A CONTACT POINT IN THE MOONROOF. REPAIR STATED THAT THE MOONROOF MOUNTINGS WERE CLEANED AND THE MOONROOF WAS RE-TORQUED. AFTER THE REPAIR WE HEARD A CREAKING SOUND ON OCCASION WHEN MAKING TURNS AND ON ROUGH ROADS BUT DIDN'T FEEL IT WAS BAD ENOUGH TO TAKE BACK FOR REPAIR. NOW A YEAR LATER ON 3/3/14, THE NOISE HAS RETURNED AND TOOK IT IN AGAIN FOR REPAIR. WAS TOLD THAT PLASTIC SHIMS HAD TO BE ORDERED AND THAT THEY WOULD CALL WHEN THEY COME IN. I'LL TAKE MY CAR IN AGAIN WHEN THE PARTS ARRIVE AND LET THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT RE-ATTEMPT TO MAKE THE REPAIR AGAIN. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH ALL 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY'S. IF YOU GOOGLE MOONROOF POPPING OR RATTLING ON 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY'S, YOU'LL FIND THAT THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM THAT TOYOTA IS HAVING WITH THEIR MOONROOF. HOPEFULLY, THE NEXT REPAIR RESOLVES THIS PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED TAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THERE WAS A LOUD SCREECHING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE AREA AS THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC AND ADVISED THAT THEY COULD NOT DETECT ANY FAILURE CODES NOR COULD THE FAILURE BE DUPLICATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE BY MAIL BUT THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,500.
I WAS MOVING CARS IN THE DRIVEWAY WHEN I PULLED THE CAMRY BACK IN THE BRAKES FAILED TO STOP THE CAR AND IT STRUCK THE CORNER OF THE GARAGE. I WAS NOT GOING FAST ENOUGH TO EVEN TRIP THE AIRBAG. THE DEALER CLAIMS THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES. I KNOW THAT THIS SAME THING HAS HAPPENED IN ARLINGTON, TX. WHAT CAN I DO TO GET THE CAR FIXED IT IS ONLY 7 MONTHS OLD AND STILL UNDER WARRANTY? *TR
CAR SURGING WHILE DRIVING AND RADIO WOULD CUT OUT AND THE TOYOTA EMBLEM AND WORD TOYOTA APPEARS ON SCREEN. 1ST VISIT DEALER STATED A COMPUTER CHIP NEEDED UPDATE. THIS FIXED THE SURGING WHILE DRIVING BUT DID NOT FIX THE RADIO FROM CUTTING OUT. DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE RADIO SHUT DOWN. SECOND VISIT BACK TO DEALER, HAD THE CAR 10 DAYS AND WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE RADIO SHUTTING OFF. DEALER REPLACED THE EXTENSION MODULE. CAR RETURNED AND STILL RADIO WAS CUTTING OUT. 3RD TIME DEALER REPLACED THE ENTIRE RADIO UNIT, WITHIN 30 MINUTES OF DRIVING THE RADIO WAS DOING IT AGAIN.FOURTH VISIT BACK TO DEALER. DEALER DISCONNECTED EXTENSION MODULE, RADIO STILL CUT OUT, REPLACED RADIO AND AMPLIFIER FROM NEW CAR SITTING ON THE LOT, RADIO STILL CUT OUT. SERVICE MANAGER DROVE CAR HOME FOR SEVERAL DAYS AND RADIO WAS STILL CUTTING OUT. TRAVELING SERVICE REP WAS CALLED IN ON 2 OCCASIONS TO DIAGNOSE. TRAVELING SERVICE REP IS DRIVING A TOYOTA TACOMA THAT DOES THE SAME THING BUT IS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER RETURNED THE CAR AND SAID IT WAS NOT THEIR ISSUE AND IT IS A HD RADIO SIGNAL BEING SENT OUT BY 98.9, A ENTERCOM BROADCASTING COMPANY AND THAT THEIR EQUIPMENT WAS WORKING IS NOT AN ISSUE WITH THE INSTALLED EQUIPMENT. TALKING WITH TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY STATED THE PROBLEM WAS A KNOWN ISSUE. I CONTACTED 5 TOYOTA DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENTS AND NONE OF THEM HAVE HEARD OF THIS ISSUE OR HAD A CUSTOMER BRING THEIR CAR IN FOR THE SAME ISSUE. TALKING WITH TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY STATED THEY WERE ONLY DEALING WITH MY CAR AND NOT CONCERNED WITH OTHER CARS HAVING THIS ISSUE. I AM HAVING TROUBLE UNDERSTANDING HOW THIS IS NOT A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I CANNOT SEE A HD RADIO SIGNAL SHUTTING THE ENTIRE RADIO DOWN AND THEN RESTARTING. WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURS IT CAUSES THE LIGHTS ON THE SIDE DISPLAY BUTTONS OF THE RADIO TO ALSO GO OUT AND COME BACK ON. *TR
DRIVING DAUGHTERS TO SCHOOL IN 2012 CAMRY V6 STOPPED AT A YIELD AND THE CAMRY ACCELERATED BEYOND 1500 RPM AND I HAD TO PRESS EXTREMELY HARD ON THE BRAKES TO KEEP THE CAMRY STOPPED. CAMRY LUNGED FORWARD AT LEAST TWO FEET. *TR
ON 1/8/13 I WAS GOING DOWN HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH AND I NOTICED PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG OFF LIGHT WAS ON ,WITH AN ADULT IN PASSENGER SEAT. I TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY SAID IT CHECKED OK. ON 12/23/13 I WAS ON HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH AND I NOTICED PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG OFF LIGHT WAS ON ,WITH AN ADULT IN PASSENGER SEAT ONCE AGAIN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER,AND THEY SAID IT CHECKED OK. I AM CONCERNED THAT I COULD BE INVOLVED IN A CRASH AND THE PASSENGER ( MY WIFE AGE 75 ) COULD BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED BECAUSE THE PASSENGER AIR BAG DIDN'T FUNCTION AS IT WAS DESIGNED TOO. *TR
I PURCHASED MY CAR IN JULY OF 2012 AND NEVER DROVE IT AT NIGHT UNTIL ABOUT A MONTH LATER. I WAS SHOCKED TO SEE THAT WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING IN AN UNLIGHTED AREA THERE IS A VERY DARK SHADOW THAT GOES ACROSS THE ENTIRE TOP HALF OF THE WINDSHIELD WHICH INHIBITS YOUR VIEW GREATLY. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE ABOUT THIS AND THEY TELL ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I TOLD THEM THAT I CAN BARELY SEE BEYOND 10 FEET OF THE ROAD UNLESS I HAVE MY HIGH BEAMS ON AND WAS CONCERNED OF HAVING AN ACCIDENT FROM THIS. WELL I DID HAVE AN ACCIDENT THE OTHER NIGHT AND HOPEFULLY SOMEONE WILL LISTEN TO ME NOW. SOMEONE HAD LEFT A CAR ILLEGALLY PARKED ON AN ON RAMP AND WHEN I WAS DRIVING HOME THE OTHER NIGHT I NEVER SAW THE CAR PARKED THERE DO TO THE POOR LIGHTING FROM MY CAR AND AS I WAS TRYING TO MERGE INTO THE TRAVEL LANE I SLAMMED INTO THE PARKED CAR. FORTUNATELY I WAS NOT INJURED HOWEVER THE NEXT PERSON MAY NOT BE AS FORTUNATE AND I CANNOT IGNORE THIS. THEY HAVE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THEIR HEADLIGHTS ON THE NEW TOYOTA CAMRY THAT CAUSES THE WINDSHIELD TO HAVE A DARK SHADOW ACROSS THE TOP HALF AT NIGHT. BOTH MY HUSBAND AND CLOSE FRIEND HAVE SEEN WHAT HAPPENS TO THE WINDSHIELD AT NIGHT AND THEY AGREED IT GREATLY INHIBITS YOUR VIEW OF THE ROAD. *TR
ANNOYING TAPPING SOUND COMING FROM THE ROOF OF MY CAR. *TR
I HAVE A TOYOTA CAMRY SE 2012 (4-CYL) WHICH I BOUGHT ON 08/29/2012. ON 12/31/2012 (THE ROAD WAS CLEAR AND DRY, IT WAS A CLOUDY DAY, NO RAIN, SNOW, ICE ON THE ROAD) WHILE STARTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP LIGHT, TURNING INTO A LANE, AFTER I STOPPED PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL, THE CAR KEPT GETTING FASTER AND FASTER (THE GAS PEDAL DIDN'T GET STUCK AND MY FOOT WASN'T ON IT), WHEN I STARTED TO TURN INTO A LANE, THE DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL LOCKED UP AND TO AVOID A CRASH I HAD TO TURN THE WHEEL TO THE OTHER SIDE, I ENDED UP DOING A DIAGONAL SKID INTO THE OTHER LANE, I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO STOP AND STRAIGHTEN IT OUT AND KEEP GOING. SINCE THE DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL LOCKED UP THE CAR JERKED ME PRETTY HARD AND MY NECK AND ARM STARTED TO HURT SINCE THEN AND I AM SCHEDULED TO TAKE PHYSICAL THERAPY. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER I BOUGHT IT FROM FOR SERVICE (FROM 1/2/2013 - 1/10/2013) AND AFTER I PICKED IT UP I'VE BEEN HAVING THE RPM STICKING AT 1.3 ALL THE TIME SO NOW IT'S WORSE THAN WHEN I HAD IT LAST. THE CAR DOESN'T FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE AND I DON'T WANT TO PUT MY LIFE OR OTHER PEOPLE'S LIVES AT RISK. AFTER CALLING TOYOTA AND EXPLAINING ALL OF THIS THEY TOLD ME TO GO TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER SAYS THAT TOYOTA IS THE ONE THAT CAN DO WHATEVER THEY WANT, THE DEALER'S ONLY RESOLUTION IS TO ACCEPT THE CAR AS A TRADE IN AND ROLL OVER THE RESIDUAL VALUE INTO A LOAN FOR ANOTHER CAR, BUT IT ISN'T MY FAULT SO I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY MORE IN PAYMENTS FOR A CAR AND I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO BE PAYING FOR A CAR THAT'S NOT SAFE FOR ME OR MY FAMILY TO DRIVE. BEFORE THE INCIDENT ON 12/31/2012 I HAD TAKEN IT IN TO THE DEALER FOR THE SAME REASON, BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS THAT THE TIRES WEREN'T GRIPPING ON DRY ASPHALT, THE DEALER TOPPED OFF THE AIR AND SAID IT WAS FINE, BUT THE CAR KEPT DOING THE SAME THING AND I DIDN'T REALIZE IT WAS ACCELERATING ON IT'S OWN UNTIL WHAT HAPPENED ON 12/31/2012. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHENEVER PARKED ON AN INCLINE, THE TRUNK LID WOULD NOT REMAIN OPEN. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE HEAD AND THE NOSE AS A RESULT TO THE ABRUPT CLOSURE OF THE TRUCK LID. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200.
I RENTED A TOYOTA CAMRY 2013 IN DECEMBER 2012. WHILE SITTING IN THE TRAFFIC AT LOW SPEED, I NOTICED THAT THE FRONT VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPPED NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF BUCHANAN AND US 93. I IMMEDIATELY SLAMMED ON THE BRAKE PAD WHILE THE CRUISER WAS ON, HOWEVER, THE BRAKE DID NOT RESPOND. THE RENTAL CAR DID NOT SLOW DOWN AND KEPT MOVING FORWARD. EVENTUALLY, IT HIT THE FRONT VEHICLE. LUCKILY, NO ONE WAS INJURED BECAUSE OF LOW SPEED. IF IT WERE A NORMAL FUNCTIONAL CAR, THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE STOPPED BECAUSE THE SPEED WAS VERY LOW. BUT IN THIS CASE, THE RENTAL CAR CAUSED THE ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF ITS POOR QUALITY. THE CAR WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED. IN CONTRAST, THE VEHICLE IN THE FRONT, A SUV, HAD NO DAMAGE. AFTER THE ACCIDENT, I CHECKED THE SCENE AND DID NOT FIND ANY TIRE BRAKE MARK ON THE GROUND, WHICH SUGGESTED THAT THE BRAKE SYSTEM WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY BEFORE THE ACCIDENT, I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE RENTAL CAR HAD MUCH SLOW RESPONSE FROM THE BRAKE WHEN THE CRUISE WAS ON, AND THE BRAKE SEEMED TO BE MUCH MORE SENSITIVE WHEN THE CRUISE WAS OFF. IN ORDER TO PROTECT OTHER DRIVERS ON HIGHWAY, I STRONGLY REQUEST NHTSA TO LAUNCH AN INVESTIGATION ON TOYOTA CAMRY'S BRAKE SYSTEM. IF ANY DEFECT IS IDENTIFIED, THEY SHOULD RECALL ALL THE PROBLEMATIC VEHICLES. I CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF THE SPEED WERE HIGH, AND THINGS COULD BE BLOODY AND HOFFIFYING. I HOPE ONE FEWER ACCIDENT LIKE THAT COULD BE REDUCED BY THE RESPONSIVE ACTIONS FROM THE GOVERNMENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE STOPPED WITH A FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE RPMS INCREASED AND THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HER. THE FAILURE OCCURRED TWO DIFFERENT TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND BODY REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED AN ENGINEER WOULD COME OUT AND INSPECT THE VEHICLE. WHILE PARKING AND PREPARING TO LEAVE THE PARKING LOT OF WAL MART/TARGET IN ABINGDON, MARYLAND THERE WAS A THUMBING NOISE COMING FROM THE ROOF. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE FIRST PAYMENT HAS NOT BEEN MADE AND ALREADY THERE IS A DEFECT. THE CAR WAS BOUGHT IN WILSON, NC AT HUBERT VESTER TOYOTA ON 8 DEC 2012. I AM TOTALLY DISPLEASE WITH THE IRRITATING AND ANNOYING NOISE. MY WIFE CONTINUES TO DRIVE THE CAR DUE TO SWITCHING OUT CARS TO HAVE MAINTENANCE PERFORMED. SHE STATES THAT THE CAR IS MAKING THE NOISE WHILE DRIVING, I WANT TO JUST RETURN THE CAR AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THAT CAN BE DONE PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT BEING INVESTIGATED. IT IS A SHAME FOR THE CUSTOMER TO HAVE TO PAY OVER $30K TO HERE A THUMBING NOISE. THE CAR IS A V6, CAMRY SE, 2012. I'VE SPENT OVER 160K ON TOYOTA'S IN THE LAST 14 YEARS. REQUEST ASSISATANCE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE... IT SOUNDS AS THOUGH THER IS HAIL OR BIG RAIN DROPS HITTING THE ROOF. *TR
STEERING LACKS ON-CENTER FEEL AND THIS IS PARTICULARLY NOTICEABLE AT HIGHWAY SPEED. CAR WANDERS/DARTS LEFT AND RIGHT REQUIRING CONSTANT CORRECTIVE STEERING TO KEEP CAR ON COURSE. THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS BECAUSE EVEN MOMENTARY LACK OF ATTENTION TO THE PROBLEM CAN CAUSE THE CAR TO CHANGE DIRECTION SIGNIFICANTLY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEATS WERE UNCOMFORTABLE TO SIT ON. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE SEATS WERE TAKEN OUT AND SPRINGS WERE ADDED BUT THE PROBLEM RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A BAR UNDER THE SEAT THAT WAS SURROUNDED BY 1/4 INCHES OF FOAM THAT WAS CAUSING THE DISCOMFORT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE TO CHANGE THE SEATS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,710. THE DEALER REPLACED THE SPRINGS IN THE SEAT. WHEN THE CONSUMER RETRIEVED THE VEHICLE, HE STATED THE PROBLEM WITH THE SEAT WAS STILL THERE, EVEN MORE SO WITH THE EXTRA FOAM. UPDATED 02/14/13
I WAS MERGING ON TO THE INTERSTATE WHEN I HEARD A LOUD CRASH. I THEN HEARD A RUSHING WIND SOUND AND GLASS BREAKING. I SLIDE OPEN THE INTERIOR SUN VISOR ON MY SUN ROOF JUST SLIGHTLY AND SAW BROKEN GLASS AND A LARGE HOLE IN THE SUN ROOF. I REALIZED THAT THE GLASS ON THE SUN ROOF HAD SUDDENLY BROKEN. I DID NOT PASS UNDER AN OVERPASS AND DID NOT SEE ANY OBJECTS THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSE THE BREAKAGE. THERE WERE NO TRUCKS NEAR ME THAT COULD HAVE DROPPED ANYTHING THAT COULD CAUSE THE DAMAGE. IF I WOULD HAVE HAD THE SUN VISOR ON THE SUN ROOF OPEN AT THE TIME OF THE EVENT, I WOULD HAVE HAD THE BROKEN GLASS COME DOWN ON ME WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WHICH COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A SEVERE ACCIDENT. THE SUN ROOF IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. *TR
EXCESSIVE FRAME CRACKING NOISE. HAS BEEN SERVICED AT DEALERSHIP AND THEY ARE TELLING ME ITS A FACTORY ISSUE AND THERE WILL BE A SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED SPECIFIC TO PROBLEM. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED IT AND WAS ASSURED THAT IT WAS ONLY THE CHANGE IN TEMPERATURE THAT WAS CAUSING THE WARNING LIGHT TO COME ON. THE DEALER ADJUSTED THE TIRE PRESSURES AND RELEASED THE VEHICLE. THE NEXT DAY THE PROBLEM RETURNED INDICATING THAT A DIFFERENT TIRE WAS THE CAUSE (A DIFFERENT ICON ON THE DISPLAY). I RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND WAS AGAIN INSURED THAT IT WAS ONLY THE CHANGE IN TEMPERATURE THAT WAS CAUSING THE WARNING LIGHT TO COME ON. THIS TIME THE DEALER ADJUSTED THE TIRE PRESSURES OVER THE RECOMMENDED PRESSURES TO TRY TO COMPENSATE FOR THE TEMPERATURE CHANGES, BEING IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA I FELT THIS WAS NOT A VERY VALID ASSESSMENT BUT LEFT IT TO THE DEALER TO ADJUST THE TIRE PRESSURES AGAIN. ONE WEEK WENT BY AND AGAIN THE WARNING LIGHT WAS ON AND AGAIN A THIRD ICON WAS ILLUMINATED AND THE WARNING LIGHT WAS ON. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOOK THE CAR INTO THE SERVICE BAY. THE TECH TOLD ME THAT INDEED ONE TIRE WAS LOW AND THAT HE HAD REMOVED THE TIRE, CHECKED IT COMPLETELY BY DUNKING IT IN A WATER TANK BUT COULD NOT FIND ANY AIR LEAKING. THE DEALER ADJUSTED THE TIRE PRESSURE FOR THE THIRD TIME AND INCREASED THE AIR PRESSURE EVEN MORE THAN THE LAST TIME. SO AFTER THREE TRIPS TO THE DEALER THEY INSURED ME THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE SENSING SYSTEM, THE TEMPERATURE CHANGE MUST BE CAUSING THE WARNING LIGHT, ONE TIRE WAS LEAK TESTED WITH NO LEAK RESULTS AND I WAS SENT HOME AGAIN WITH THE TIRES INFLATED 3 TO 4 PSI OVER THE RECOMMENDED MANUFACTURERS SETTING. I HAVE AN APPT WITH ONE ON 11/20/12. I HOPE THAT TOYOTA CAN DO SOMETHING TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM, BUT I HAVE LITTLE HOPE AS ALL I EVER HEARD FROM ANYONE I SPOKE TO IS THAT " IT IS UP TO SPEC OR IT IS NORMAL AND IT IS ONLY MY OPINION THAT THE RIDE IS NOT UP TO PAR WITH OTHER NEW CARS THAT I HAVE DRIVEN." *TR
THE CAR WANDERS: IT WILL DRIFT TO THE RIGHT, I WILL CORRECT WITH A LITTLE TURN TO THE LEFT. IT THEN DRIFTS TO THE LEFT AND I NEED TO CORRECT BY STEERING TO THE RIGHT. AT NO TIME CAN I GET THE CAR TO DRIVE STRAIGHT. FURTHERMORE, THERE IS NO FEELING IN THE STEERING WHEEL. IT'S LIKE DRIVING IN A VIDEO GAME WITH ONLY VISUAL FEEDBACK.. THIS MAKES DRIVING TIRING AND DANGEROUS. IF I TAKE A SECOND TO LOOK IN THE MIRRORS, WHEN I LOOK BACK TO THE ROAD I'M EITHER DRIFTING TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER AND AFTER 3 HOURS ALL THEY COULD FIND WAS THE TIRE PRESSURE BEING 2 LBS LOW AND THE TOE ALIGNMENT WAS A LITTLE OFF. THEIR CONCLUSION WAS THAT IT WAS THE ELECTRICAL POWER SYSTEM AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT. I SHOULD JUST GET USED TO IT. *TR
IDENTICAL PROBLEMS AS RECENT RECALL FOR PRIUS AND LEXUS MODELS, BUT HADN'T HEARD MY MODEL BEING AFFECTED, SO I WANTED IT DOCUMENTED. THE BRAKES WORK ON THIS MODEL, BUT I ALWAYS HAD THE FEELING THAT I HAD TO PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL MUCH HARDER THAN ANY OTHER CAR I HAD DRIVE TO GET THE SAME EFFECT. AND SO I OFTEN FIND MYSELF HAVING TO PUSH VERY HARD ON THE BRAKES AT THE LAST MINUTE TO AVOID A COLLISION (I HAVEN'T HAD ONE YET) BECAUSE WHAT I THINK IS NORMAL PRESSURE ON THE BRAKES ISN'T CUTTING IT. I THOUGHT THIS MIGHT ALL BE IN MY HEAD UNTIL I SAW THE RECENT RECALL, AND THE DESCRIPTION OF OWNERS' COMPLAINTS WAS EXACTLY HOW I WOULD DESCRIBE IT. *TR
I WENT TO PICK UP MY VEHICLE ON SEPTEMBER 3, 2012. ON THE WAY I FOUND THE VEHICLE WAS RIGID AND THE SUSPENSION WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. WHEN CAR HIT VARIOUS IMPERFECTIONS IN THE ROAD THERE WAS A BANGING NOISE AND THE CAR WOULD VIBRATE. I FELT DIZZY AS DURING MY TIME SPENT DRIVING CAR. THE CAR SEEMS UNSAFE TO USE. THIS SHOULD NOT OCCUR ON A VEHICLE THAT COST $31K AND ON THE FIRST DAY THAT I AM DRIVING VEHICLE. IN ADDITION THE STEERING FELT MORE WEIGHTED ON THE LEFT AS OPPOSED TO THE RIGHT. WHEN I TURNED LEFT THERE WAS GREATER RESISTANCE. I CONTACTED THE CUSTOMER RELATIONS MANAGER THAT SAME DAY AND HE INDICATED HE FELT IT MAYBE A TIRE PRESSURE PROBLEM. HE THEN STATED THAT I SHOULD BRING THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO SEE WHAT THE ISSUE IS. I LATER DISCOVERED THAT THE RADIO SOUND FLUCTUATED. I HAD CONTACTED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO CONFIRM MY APPOINTMENT AND DISCOVERED THAT AN APPOINTMENT WAS NEVER MADE. I NOTIFIED TOYOTA MAIN OFFICE AND THEY PROVIDED ME WITH A CASE # [XXX]. THE MAIN OFFICE AT TOYOTA INDICATED THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT THE CUSTOMER RELATIONS MANAGER. I WILL BE GOING TO ADVANTAGE TOYOTA IN VALLEY STREAM, NY ON 9/8/12. PLEASE HAVE SOMEONE INVESTIGATE THE ISSUE REGARDING THE SUSPENSION ON THESE VEHICLES. I DON'T WANT SOMEONE ELSE TO INCUR THE SAME ISSUES I HAVE. I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING A KNOCK/TAP/CLUNK SOUND COMING FROM THE ROOF IN MY 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY SE V6 FROM THE REAR END OF THE CAR. ITS GOT 11600 MILES ON IT AND I STARTED NOTICING THE SOUND AROUND THE TIME I TOOK IT IN FOR THE 10000 MILE SERVICE. I HEAR THE SOUND EVERY TIME I DRIVE UP OR DOWN AN INCLINE AT AN ANGLE. *TR
IN SEPTEMBER 2012 I EXPERIENCED A FLATTENING OUT OF THE ACCELERATION. TURNING AT A VERY LOW SPEED THE CAR DID NOT ACCELERATE (THIS STILL OCCURS OFF AND ON). IT IS QUITE DANGEROUS BECAUSE THERE IS NO WARNING TO THE CAR BEHIND ME THAT I AM NO LONGER MOVING FORWARD. IT IS LIKE A STALLING OUT WHICH LAST AROUND 5 SECONDS OR SO. SUNROOF MAKES A RATTLING NOISE LIKE A COMPONENT IS LOOSE. DEALER COULD NOT FIND ISSUE UPON INITIAL PURCHASE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25-40 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN JERKING ABNORMALLY AND WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER INFORMED HER THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND COVERED THE COSTS OF THE TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 300. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 600. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
AT NIGHT ON HILLS AND CURVY ROADS THE TOP THIRD OF THE WINDSHIELD BECOMES VERY DARK AND IT IS HARD TO SEE ANYTHING IN FRONT OF ME. I HAVE TRIED USING MY BRIGHTS WHICH HELPS A LITTLE,BUT WHEN ONCOMING CARS ARE NEAR I HAVE TO SWITCH BACK TO THE REGULAR HEADLIGHTS. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR IN AUGUST 2012.
I RECENTLY PURCHASE A NEW TOYOTA CAMRY XLE. I WISH TO REPORT A CONDITION THAT EXISTS IN THE DESIGN OF THE MECHANISM WHICH HOLDS THE TRUNK LID IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION WHILE UNLOADING OR LOADING ARTICLES INTO OR OUTOF THE TRUNK MY EXPERIENCE IS AS FOLLOWS: I HAVE PUT ITEMS INTO THE TRUNK ON OCCASION (ITS A NEW CAR), AND IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN ON A LEVEL SURFACE. ONCE WHILE I HAD RAISED THE TRUNK LID IN MY GARAGE IT DROPPED DONE AND I WAS ABLE TO STOP IT AND PUT IT BACK UP. THERE IS A FULL UPRIGHT POSITION FOR THE TRUNK LID WHICH I WOULD ASSUME THAT IS THE MOST SECURE POSITION. HOWEVER IT IS A POSITION THAT IS RATHER HIGH TO REACH (I AM 5' 11" TALL.) IT IS A STRETCH FOR ME. I WOULD ASSUME THAT A PERSON OF A SMALLER HEIGHT OR A CHILD WOULD BE NOT ABLE TO REACH THIS POSITION FOR SAFETY. I RECENTLY CAME BACK FROM THE STORE AND PARKED IN FRONT MY HOME ON A SLIGHT INCLINED DRIVEWAY AND OPENED THE TRUNK LID TO WHAT I WAS USE TO IN MY GARAGE WHICH WAS LEVEL. W\HEN I REACHED IN TO REMOVE THE GROCERIES THE TRUNK LID FELL DOWN WITH GREAT AMOUNT OF SPEED AND HIT THE BRIDGE OF MY DOSE. IT MISSED MY GLASSES BY AN EIGHTH OF AN INCH BUT KNOCKED THEM OFF. I PUT MY HAND TO MY NOSE AND IT WAS BLEEDING AND SPENT THE NEXT HOUR TRYING TO STOPPED THE BLEEDING SINCE I AM ON ASPIRIN THERAPY. WE ENDED UP GOING TO THE EMG. ROOM TO SEE IF I NEEDED STITCHES. IT ENDED UP BEING A DEEP ABRASION SO THEY PUT SOME COLLIOD MATERIAL ON RAISE UP THE SCAB TO HAVE LESS SCARING. HAD MY GLASSES SHATTERED I WOULD PROBABLY RECEIVED MORE SEVERE INJURIES. THEY WANTED TO DO AN MRI EXAM TO SEE IF I HAD OTHER INJURIES WHICH I DECLINED BECAUSE OF MY MEDICAL WORK EXPERIENCE, L DID NOT FEEL THE EXTRA COST FOR THE MRI WAS JUSTIFIED, BUT WOULD HAVE BEEN AN EXTRA EXPENSE FOR SOMEONE WHO WOULD NOT KNOW THE WHAT VALUE OF THE TEST IN A SIMILAR SITUATION. CONTACTED TOYOTA, LESS THAN HELPFUL. PREVENT FURTHER INJURIES. *TR
WHEN TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY ABOVE 60 MPH, THE CAR WANDERS AND IS DIFFICULT TO KEEP DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE. THE TOYOTA DEALER CHECKED THE ALIGNMENT ONCE, AND SLIGHTLY ADJUSTED IT. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. I AM HEARING MANY 2012 CAMRY OWNERS HAVE THE SAME COMPLAINT, AND THEIR IS NO FIX. THIS IS DANGEROUS. *TR
