AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE CAR CONSTANTLY WANDERS TO THE LEFT AND/OR RIGHT REQUIRING CONSTANT STEERING CORRECTIONS. IT IS DIFFICULT TO KEEP THE CAR DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE AT SPEED. INITIALLY I THOUGHT IT THE CAUSE WAS CROSS-WINDS BUT THE PROBLEM HAPPENS ALL THE TIME EVEN ON CALM DAYS WITH NO WIND. I HAVE ALSO DISCARDED ROAD SURFACE IMPERFECTIONS/ANGLE AS THE PROBLEM OCCURS WHILE DRIVING ON DIFFERENT ROADS. IT TAKES A LOT OF CONCENTRATION AND CONSTANT MOVEMENT OF THE STEERING TO PREVENT THE CAR FROM CROSSING INTO ADJACENT LANES. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. THANKS. *TR
THE REAR DOOR CHILD'S LOCK IS FROZEN AND WILL NOT RELEASE. I SUSPECT THIS WAS A FACTORY PROBLEM. WE ARE BOTH 74 AND NEVER HAD REAR PASSENGERS SO WE ONLY DISCOVERED THIS IN JULY,2015. AUTONATION AGREED ON THE PROBLEM BUT WILL NOT FIX IT UNLESS I PAY THEM $1091.49. THE REAR DOOR HAS NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. I AM AFRAID THAT IN AN ACCIDENT THE REAR PASSENGER COULD NOT EXIT THROUGH THIS DOOR.
ENTERING A DRIVEWAY AT 2MPH THE CAR ACCELERATED TO APPROXIMATELY 30MPH AND STRUCK A BRICK WALL. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED CAUSING INJURY AND THE CAR WAS TOTALED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ANOTHER VEHICLE DROVE IN FRONT OF HER AND SHE CRASHED INTO THE SIDE OF THAT VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED DURING THE CRASH. THE CONTACT SUFFERED FROM SORENESS IN HER NECK DUE TO THE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE IT WAS BEING INSPECTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 6,200.
WIFE WAS DRIVING ON FREEWAY IN SCOTTSDALE WHEN A SMALL ROCK IMPACTED LOWER LEFT OF WINDSHIELD. OVER THE PERIOD OF 2 HOURS A CRACK 3 FEET LONG DEVELOPED ACROSS DRIVERS SIDE OF WINDSHIELD. THERE ARE NUMEROUS REPORTS OF THIS HAPPENING ON THE INTERNET FOR THE CAMRY HYBRID SINCE 2007. THIS APPEARS TO BE MANUFACTURERS DEFECT IN ENGINEERING DESIGN OR MANUFACTURE. TOYOTA IS NOT ADDRESSING THE ISSUE, SINCE THEY MAKE A LOT OF MONEY ON THE WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT (>$1,200 FOR A WINDSHIELD? GIVE ME A BREAK). HAVE NUMEROUS ROCK CHIPS IN WINDSHIELDS OF OTHER VEHICLES THAT DO NOT RESULT IN THIS TYPE OF DAMAGE. *TR
I WAS AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND WAS ABOUT TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN WHEN I PUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL THE CAR HESITATED AND THEN TOOK OFF. I BROUGHT IT IN TO THE DEALER ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AND THEY FOUND NOTHING. IT HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AFTER THAT AND I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER AGAIN AND NOTHING WAS FOUND. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER ONLY LAST WEEK FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND 10000 MILE CHECK UP(ONLY HAVE 3700MILES ON CAR) AND ONCE AGAIN NOTHING WAS FOUND. THE CAR DOES THIS MARE TIMES THAN NOT BUT THE SERVICE PEOPLE ARE UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE ISSUE. *TR
TO THE POINT, TRUNK WILL NOT STAY OPEN ON INCLINE. CLOSED ON MY HEAD WHILE I WAS GOING TO RETRIEVE ITEMS. CALLED IT IN AND TOYOTA TOLD ME THEY NEVER HEARD OF THIS COMPLAINT. THE LOCAL DEALER SAID THEY CAN NOT FIX IT.
STEERING IS VAGUE AND NOT PREDICTABLE. NEVER HAD A CAR WITH ELEC. STEERING. CAR FOLLOWS ITS OWN COURSE. IT TAKES A LOT OF ATTENTIONS TO KEEP IT ON THE ROAD. I THINK ITS SOMETHING TO CHECK OUT. DID NOT GO TO THE DEALER YET. *TR DURING A TEST DRIVE AT THE DEALER, THEY DID CONFIRM THERE WAS A PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO REMEDY TO FIT IT. UPDATED 08/27/12
THE MASTER POWER WINDOW SWITCH STARTED SMOKING WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ON 6/18/12. AT THE TIME, I WASN'T AWARE OF ANY ISSUES WITH THE POWER SWITCHES. SO MY FAMILY AND I JUMPED OUT THE CAR AND CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THEY DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY AND THE CAR TOWED TO TOYOTA. THE POWER SWITCH HAD BURNED UP AND SOME OF THE DOOR PANEL WAS BURNED AS WELL. WENT BACK TO GET MY CAR, AND THE BATTERY WENT OUT AS WELL. TODAY, 10/12/12, MY CAR IS STILL IN THE SHOP AT TOYOTA. IT HAS BEEN A LONG, DRAWN OUT PROCESS, BUT I'LL BE GLAD WHEN I RECEIVE MY REIMBURSEMENT AND CAR. I AM A LOYAL TOYOTA CUSTOMER AND THIS IS MY FIRST INCIDENT WITH THEM. *TR
I HAVE A 2012 CAMRY XLE HYBRID WITH 33000 MILES. IT HAS A PROBLEM WITH ON CENTER FEEL STEERING, IT NEEDS CONSTANT WHEEL MOVEMENTS TO STAY IN LANE. I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THIS MANY TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED VEHICLE IN MAY 2012. I HAVE HAD MANY CLOSE CALLS TO HAVING AN ACCIDENT SINCE OWNING THE CAR DUE TO THIS STEERING PROBLEM. THE SECOND YOU TURN YOUR HEAD, THEN RETURNING YOUR ATTENTION STRAIGHT AHEAD, MY CAR IS STARTING TO VEER TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT. ALMOST ANY DISTRACTION CAUSES THIS TO HAPPEN VERY QUICKLY. I KNOW THROUGH A TOYOTA OWNER ONLINE FORUM AND THRU FRIENDS THAT I'M NOT ALONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT THERE ARE NO SERIOUS ACCIDENTS BEING REPORTED BY THIS HAPPENING. TOYOTA DEALERS DO NOT SEEM TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS STEERING PROBLEM IS AS COMMON AS IT SEEMS TO BE. NO ANSWERS ARE TO BE HAD FROM ANYONE AT THE DEALERSHIPS THAT I AM AWARE OF. SOMEONE NEED TO START FIGURING OUT WHY THIS KIND OF PROBLEM IS HAPPENING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRUNK LOCK MECHANISM FAILED TO ENGAGE. AS A RESULT, THE TRUNK FAILED TO STAY OPEN AND STRUCK THE CONTACTS HEAD. THERE WAS NO INJURY TO REPORT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS WORKING UP TO STANDARDS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 13,523. *TR
WHILE DRIVING UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS THE PAINT ON THE LOWER PLASTIC BUMPER HAS BEEN HIT WITH ROAD DEBRIS AND IS CAUSING SMALL CHIPPING IN THE PAINT. IT SEEMS THE PAINT ON THE PLASTIC PARTS IS VERY SUSCEPTIBLE TO CHIPPING. NO CHIPPING HAS OCCURRED ON THE METAL HOOD OR BODY. *JS
CAR SHAKES VERY AGGRESSIVELY ON FREEWAY WITH GROOVES. IT IS MAJOR SECURITY CONCERN AS CAR DOESN'T FELL SAFE AT ALL. BEING A FAMILY CAR, WE ARE NOT COMFORTABLE USING THIS CAR ANYMORE. TOYOTA IS NOT WILLING TO LOOK INTO THIS AND TOLD US THIS IS NORMAL FOR THE CAR. I HAVE DRIVEN 7 DIFFERENT CARS OF DIFFERENT MAKE AND MODELS AND NONE OF THEM BEHAVE IN THIS MANNER ON FREEWAY. *JS
I WANT TO BRING TO YOUR ATTENTION A CONCERN THAT IS PRIMARILY ONE OF SAFETY BUT WHICH ALSO INVOLVES POOR AND MISLEADING INFORMATION BY TOYOTA RELATED TO THE BLU-LOGIC CELL-PHONE CONNECTION SYSTEM INCLUDED AS A FEATURE ON MY NEW 2012 CAMRY HYBRID. MY CONCERN STEMS FROM THE FACT THAT THE BLU-LOGIC SYSTEM, OBVIOUSLY COINED TO SOUND LIKE BLUETOOTH, AND EVEN LISTED ON SOME DEALER WEBSITES AS A BLUETOOTH CONNECTION, IS MISLEADINGLY DESCRIBED AS HANDSFREE COMMUNICATION AND A HANDSFREE SOLUTION IN THE SEPARATE BROCHURE PROVIDED BY TOYOTA. IN ACTUALITY, THE SYSTEM AS SUCH IS AT BEST ONLY 50% ?HANDSFREE. ONLY INCOMING CALLS MAY BE ENGAGED IN WITHOUT CELL PHONE IN HAND. OUTGOING CALLS MAY BE INITIATED HANDSFREE ONLY IF ONES CELL PHONE ITSELF IS EQUIPPED WITH VOICE-ACTIVATED DIALING, A 4G-TYPE FEATURE I WOULD ESTIMATE ONLY A FAIRLY SMALL MINORITY CURRENTLY POSSESS. SO THE DE-FACTO REALITY OF THE BLU-LOGIC SYSTEM IS THAT IT FORCES MOST DRIVERS INTO THE UNSAFE PRACTICE OF MANUALLY INITIATING OUTGOING CALLS BY MANUALLY DIALING WITH CELL PHONES IN HAND. BUT IN A DECEPTIVE OMISSION, THE TOYOTA GUIDES DO NOT EVEN MENTION THE POSSIBILITY OF MAKING CALLS IN THIS MANNER. INDEED, THE PHONE-BANK REP I SPOKE TO TOLD ME, PRESUMABLY WITH A STRAIGHT FACE, THAT IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE TO DO SO, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE ACCOMPLISHED IT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. IT IS HARD NOT TO SEE THIS OMISSION OF BOTH SERVICE AND INFORMATION AS A CYNICAL EVASION BY TOYOTA, PART OF A COST-CUTTING EFFORT TO APPEAR TO OFFER HANDSFREE IN-CAR CELL-PHONE SERVICE, A LA BLUETOOTH, WHILE ACTUALLY PROVIDING AN UNSAFE SYSTEM WHICH FORCES A DRIVER TO USE HANDS TO MAKE CALLS. AND PART OF THIS EVASION APPEARS TO INCLUDE A COVER-UP WHEN A CUSTOMER RAISES THE ISSUE. *TR
STARTED THE CAR AND HAD SEVERAL BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS ON INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. TOOK CAR TO DEALER AND THEY RETRIEVED A CODE OF C1214. THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. BEFORE THEY CLEARED THE CODE AND WHILE I HAD THE WARNING LIGHTS, I HAD NO REGENERATIVE BRAKING. ONLY THE FRICTION BRAKES WORKED, WHICH CONSIDERABLY LENGTHENED THE STOPPING DISTANCE. NOW I NO LONGER HAVE ANY CONFIDENCE IN THE CAR.
THE WIND BUFFETING THAT OCCURS IN THIS CAR IS UNBEARABLE. THIS CAUSES AN UNSUPPORTABLE PRESSURE THAT YOU FEEL IN YOUR EARS AND HEAD. SPEAKING WHILE ONE OF THE REAR WINDOWS IS OPEN IS ALSO IMPOSSIBLE BECAUSE OUR VOICES WILL ECHO. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN LOOKING OUT OF THE REAR WINDOW, THE DEFROST LINES GOING ACROSS THE WINDOW AND THE TINT CAUSED THE CONTACT TO SEE MULTIPLE HEAD LIGHTS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ONE HEADLIGHT WOULD APPEAR AS TWENTY VARIOUS HEADLIGHTS, DISORIENTATING THE DRIVER. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MULTIPLE DEALERS AND WAS TOLD THAT THE DESIGN WAS NORMAL. THERE WERE NO REPAIRS MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 4,588.
ON ACCELERATION THE GAS CUTS OUT, LASTING AROUND 3 TO 10 SECONDS. I CANNOT DUPLICATE THIS CONDITION, IT JUST HAPPENS SPORADICALLY. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE THE CAR BEHIND ME HAS NO INDICATION THAT I AM IN LIMBO AND COULD EASILY REAR-END ME. THIS USUALLY OCCURS WHEN I AM TURNING AT A LOW SPEED, BUT HAS HAPPENED WHEN DRIVING STRAIGHT. *TR
ON APRIL 30TH 2012 MY CAMRY 2012 WAS HIT AS I WAS MAKING A UTURN TO PICK UP MY SON FROM SCHOOL 35 MPH /UPON IMPACT THE CAR DID NOT STOP, WENT OVER THE MEDIAN, INTO THE BUSH AREA, AT THE MEANTIME I TRIED TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK, THE CAR DID NOT STOP, TURNED OFF THE ENGINE, THE CAR DID NOT STOP, THE CAR DID NOT PICK UP SPEED, THE WHOLE TIME I WAS BREAKING BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP, IT FINALLY CAME TO FULL STOP UPON IMPACTING A TREE. THE POLICE CAME AND FILLED A REPORT. WAS SURPRISED TO SEE MY CAR ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD BY A TREE. MY CAR WAS TAKEN TO TOYOTA COLLISION CENTER IN ARLINGTON TX. IT TOOK THEM 31 DAYS TO FIX A BRAND NEW CAMRY 2012 THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE DONE IN 2 WEEKS ACCORDING TO THEM. THEY TELL ME THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. I HAVE DRIVEN CAMRYS FOR MORE THAN 2 DECADES. I KNOW IF THERE IS A PROBLEM. I CONTACTED TOYOTA CORPORATE, THEY HAVE SENT AN ENGINEER SPECIALIST TO CHECK THE CAR. THEY ARE NOT DISCLOSING ANY INFORMATION TO ME, THEY SAY YOU HAVE TO WAIT TILL YOU RECEIVE IN MAIL. ACCORDING TO THEIR ENGINEER SPECIALIST, HE SAYS THE RECORDING BOX(SOMETHING NEW WITH NEW CAMRYS) THERE WAS MORE THAN ONE COLLISION RECORDED. THERE WAS A TIME LAPSE! I HAVE NOT PICKED UP MY CAR BECAUSE I TOTALLY FEEL UNSAFE WITH THAT CAR!!! THIS HAD NEVER HAPPENED TO ME!!! NO ONE ON EARTH CAN TELL ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT CAR. I ALMOST HIT MY SON AND HIS FRIEND!!! THE LAWYERS TELL ME SINCE I HAVE NOT HURT ANYONE AND GOTTEN HURT MYSELF, THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I ASK YOU TO PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS CASE! I AM UNABLE TO STAY IN CONTROL OF THE STEERING. IT SEEMS TO GO WHERE IT WANTS. CAR VEERS TO THE RIGHT OR THE LEFT AND I AM CONSTANTLY HAVING TO RE-ADJUST THE STEERING. PROBLEM MORE NOTICEABLE IN WINDY CONDITIONS. DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY HAVE HAD NO SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THE CAMRY SE. THEY HAVE DONE 4 RE-ALIGNMENTS AND REPLACED THE TIRES AND THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. SEEMS REASONABLE THAT IF NOT CORRECTED, THE PROBLEM WILL ONLY GET WORSE TO THE POINT OF BEING EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IN WINTRY WEATHER. *TR
IT SOMETIMES WILL NOT SHIFT INTO NORMAL REVERSE. ON THESE OCCASIONS, WHEN YOU SHIFT INTO REVERSE ,IT WILL NOT MOVE OR CREEP SLOWLY BACK AS IT NORMALLY DOES. IT FEELS LIKE A BRAKE IS ON AND YOU MUST PUSH HARD ON THE GAS TO GET THE CAR TO BACK UP AT ALL. THE CAR THEN LUNGES BACKWARD UNTIL YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS AND IT WILL JERK TO A STOP WITHOUT YOU EVEN TOUCHING THE BRAKES. THIS IS SCARY WHEN YOU ARE IN A PARKING SPACE AT A RETAIL STORE,RESTAURANT ,ETC. AND HAVE SOMEONE PARKED ON BOTH SIDES OF YOU. YOU CANT BACK UP SLOWLY,ONLY CAN LURCH OUT OF YOUR PARKING SPOT AND HOPE NO PEDESTRIANS OR VEHICLES ARE COMING BY. I FINALLY GOT THE CAR TO DO THIS AT THE DEALER LOT IN DES MOINES,BY DRIVING AND PARKING FOR 48 MINUTES. NOW THE DEALER SAW THE PROBLEM DEALER TECH BACKED THE CAR UP FOR A BLOCK WITH ONE FOOT ON THE GAS AND ONE ON THE BRAKE, AS I TOLD HIM IF HE DROVE FORWARD FOR 50 FEET IT WOULD SNAP OUT OF THE PROBLEM AND WE WOULD BE TRYING TO RECREATE IT AGAIN. NO PROBS SHOW ON SCOPE TESTS TOYOTA HAS NO IDEA WHAT IT IS. BOUGHT THE CAR 03/24/2012 DEALER HAS HAD IT TO LOOK AT OVER 18 DAYS ALREADY IN AND OUT. MY WIFE IS TERRIFIED TO DRIVE IT AS THIS HAPPENED TO HER IN THE PARKING LOT AT WORK.. *JS
I FIRST NOTICED THE ISSUE LITERALLY DRIVING THE NEW CAR OFF THE DEALER LOT. I WAS TRAVELING BEHIND MY WIFE IN MY TRUCK WITH HER BEHIND THE WHEEL IN THE NEW CAR. I BEGAN TO NOTICE THAT AT TIMES THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD COME ON WHEN BRAKING OR NOT, VERY INTERMITTENTLY. I FIGURED THAT SINCE IT WAS A NEW CAR IT WOULD TAKE TIME FOR ANY NEW DRIVER TO GET FAMILIAR TO THAT NEW VEHICLE. IT IS VERY RARE THAT I WOULD BE FOLLOWING HER IN A SEPARATE VEHICLE WATCHING HER BRAKE. EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE, PREFERABLY AT NIGHT I WOULD DRIVE IT MYSELF AND TEST TO SEE IF I CAN COME TO A COMPLETE STOP WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES BUT ONLY APPLYING A CERTAIN OF PRESSURE TO NOT SIGNAL THE BRAKE LIGHTS, AND I WAS ABLE TO DO SO. WHILE DRIVING I WOULD LOOK IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR AND WATCH THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT. AT CERTAIN DRIVING CONDITIONS I FOUND A WAY WHERE EVEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC I CAN ACHIEVE SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 40 MPH AND COME TO A COMPLETE STOP WITHOUT SIGNALING MY BRAKE LIGHTS, AND I WOULD BE APPLYING PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. I ASSUMED THIS ISSUE WAS CAUSED EITHER BY THE HYBRID REGENERATIVE BRAKING SYSTEM TRIGGERING ON, AND/OR THE LITTLE SWITCH UNDER THE BRAKE PEDAL WHICH SIGNALS THE BRAKE LIGHTS. AROUND NOVEMBER OF 2014, I GOT FED UP WITH THE ISSUE AND THOUGHT ABOUT THE SAFETY FACTOR AND HAD CLAREMONT TOYOTA, FIX THE SENSITIVITY OF THE BRAKING SWITCH. WITH THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT ASSEMBLY UNATTACHED AND TURNED 180 DEGREES AROUND FACING FORWARD THE TECHNICIAN TESTED AND SIMULATED WHAT I HAD CLAIMED. I EVEN RODE WITH THE TECHNICIAN IN THE PASSENGER SEAT WHILE HE DROVE AND WAS ABLE TO DO THE SAME THING, COME TO A COMPLETE STOP WITHOUT SIGNALING THE BRAKE LIGHTS. HE ADJUSTED THE SWITCH TO THE MOST SENSITIVE SETTING SO THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD ALWAYS SIGNAL WHEN BRAKING. IN MY OPINION IF ANY AMOUNT OF PRESSURE IS APPLIED TO THE BRAKES, THE BRAKE LIGHTS SHOULD SIGNAL. *TR
THIS IS A RENTAL VEHICLE PROVIDED BY LIA TOYOTA NORTHAMPTON, MA. I HAD BEEN SHOPPING AND OPENED AND CLOSE THE TRUNK LID SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN I RETURNED HOME I PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY WHICH HAS AN UPWARD SLANT TO IT. I OPENED THE TRUNK LID AND REMOVED THREE BAGS OF GROCERIES FROM THE TRUNK BEFORE THE TRUNK LID CLOSED ON ITS OWN ACCORD STRIKING ME IN THE FACE JUST ABOVE MY NOSE WITH ENOUGH FORCE TO CAUSE FACIAL BLEEDING AND A PROLONGED HEADACHE. A SHORT TIME AFTER I TOOK DELIVERY OF THE CAR AND I PARKED IT ON MY DRIVEWAY WHICH HAS A SMALL CLIMB TO THE GARAGE. THE CAR WAS PARKED WITH THE REAR END LOWER THAN THE FRONT. MY 2012 CAMRY HYBRID STEERS HARD TO THE LEFT WHEN BRAKING WHEN THE ROAD IS CROWNED ALONG THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN FOR REPAIR THREE TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED IT IN DECEMBER. FIRST TWO TIMES THE DEALER SAID THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE AND THAT TOYOTA HADN'T REGISTERED SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER OWNERS. THE MOST RECENT VISIT TO THE DEALER HAD A DIFFERENT RESULT. ON MAY 18TH THE DEALER ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE REGENERATIVE BRAKING SYSTEM AND THAT TOYOTA WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER OPENED AN INVESTIGATION WITH TOYOTA AND TOYOTA ADMITTED THAT OTHER OWNERS ARE HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THEIR 2012 TCH. TOYOTA AND THE DEALER HAVE NO SOLUTIONS. WHEN I STEPPED ON ACCELERATION WITH VERY MINIMAL IMPACT, THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED (UNINTENDED) AND HIT THE MOBILE TRAILER WHICH IS IN FRONT. THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE CAR WHICH COSTS $3000 TO REPLACE FRONT HOOD, BUMPER, FIX THE FRONT DOOR WHICH WAS DAMAGE. THIS INCIDENT ALSO DEPRECIATED THE VALUE OF MY CAR, INCREASED BY INSURANCE PREMIUMS WHICH I AM PAYING FOR TILL DATE. I HAD TO PAY $1000 OUT OF MY POCKET. DUE TO THE SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION OF THE VEHICLE, I HAD TO GO THROUGH A VERY TOUGH TIME.IT ALL HAPPENED WITHIN A SECOND AND HORRIFYING. My VIN for my 2012 Toyota camry LE 4cyl was never listed for a recall that my vehicle should have been included on. 2012 Toyota Transmission U760e shuddering issue and ECM issue. By VIN there are no past or present recalls listed, but after extensive research my vehicle does qualify for this fix by the manufacture for faulty transmission parts. My vehicle is equipped with this transmission U760e confirmed by the label in the door jamb. My vehicle has been dealer maintained since I became owner in 2013 and never once did I get a recall letter or be made aware of a recall from the dealerships. The issue is this recall gave a specific timeline on when owners had to bring their car in for this fix and that timeline has passed. I believe im owed this recall fix on my vehicle and need it reviewed because my car shudders going 40-50mph, the Toyota dealership has inspected my car and quoted me for a torque converter replacement $4,500.00 my car only has 127,000 miles. IF THE CAR SITS FOR SEVERAL HOURS AND I GO FOR A DRIVE, THE FIRST DIP IN THE ROAD THAT I HIT AT APPROXIMATELY 20-30 MPH WILL MAKE MY FRONT SUSPENSION MAKE A LOUD SOLITARY HOLLOW METAL CLUNK NOISE. THIS IS THE 5TH CAMRY WE HAVE OWNED SINCE 1994 AND WE HAVE BEEN VERY HAPPY WITH EVERY ONE EXCEPT THIS ONE. I FEEL VERY UNSAFE DRIVING THIS CAR ON THE ROAD, BUT ESPECIALLY IN MINNESOTA WINTER DRIVING. MY FIRST IMPRESSION WAS THE FEELING OF DRIVING A REAR WHEEL DRIVE CAR ON ICE. THE CAR SQUIRMS LIKE IT IS ABOUT TO LOOSE CONTROL AND GO INTO A SPIN, OR LIKE THE REAR OF THE CAR WANTS TO MOVE SIDEWAYS. I AM A PROFESSIONAL DRIVER 59 YEARS OLD AND CONSIDER MYSELF AN EXCELLENT DRIVER IN ALL CONDITIONS AND HAVE BEEN DRIVING IN MINNESOTA WINTERS ALL MY LIFE. THIS CONDITION IS ALSO VERY NOTICEABLE ON DRY ROADS BECAUSE THE CAR NEEDS CONSTANT STEERING CORRECTIONS BECAUSE IT FEELS LIKE IT WANDERS SIDE TO SIDE.
