TOOK HER FOOT OFF GAS, BUT GAS PEDAL STUCK AND ENGINE KEPT REVVING, ACCELERATING. SHE HIT BRAKES HARD, CAR WOULDN'T STOP. SHE APPLIED E-BRAKE, CAR DIDN'T STOP. PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL AND TURNED CAR OFF. COASTED THROUGH THE RED LIGHT AND TO A STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THANK GOD, NOBODY HIT HER. CAR IS IN THE SHOP NOW. NO RESOLUTION YET. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVE SHAFT WAS LOOSE AND THERE WAS A LOT OF 'PLAY' FROM THE TRANSMISSION TO THE WHEEL. THE WHEEL ALSO SHOOK AND MADE A LOT OF NOISE WHEN THE VEHICLE DROVE OVER BUMPS IN THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 65,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.
VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS APPROXIMATELY 20 FEET WHILE GEAR SHIFT WAS IN PARK POSITION AND THE ENGINE WAS IDLING. DRIVERS DOOR WAS DAMAGED WHEN VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS INTO A DITCH. DEALERSHIP INSPECTED GEAR SHIFT MECHANISM AND COULD NOT FIND ANY DEFECT OR PROBLEM. *AK *JB
THE SHIFT GEAR WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR WHILE DRIVING. I WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT GEAR ONLY WHEN THE ENGINE WAS ON. THE CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED COMPLETELY WHILE IT WAS IN MOTION. I WAS ABLE TO START BUT I WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE DUE TO THE INABILITY TO GEAR SHIFTING REGARDLESS OF HOW DEEP THE CLUTCH PEDAL WAS PRESSED. THERE WAS A POLICEMAN PRESENT AT TIME OF INCIDENT WHO HELPED ME PUSHED THE CAR OFF TO THE SIDE TO AVOID FURTHER TRAFFIC BLOCK. *AK
