TAKATA RECALL; AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON.
I CRASHED MY CAR AND THE AIRBAG BURST AND IT BURNED MY LEG AND IT DID NOT INFLATE. I AM REPORTING THIS RECENTLY BECAUSE I JUST RECEIVED A CERTIFICATED LETTER ABOUT 'URGENT SAFETY RECALLS'. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION.
THIS TOYOTA WAS TOTALED IN A CAR ACCIDENT ON JUNE 28, 2017. THE DAMAGE WAS TO THE FRONT AND SIDE. AIR BAGS SHOULD'VE DEPLOYED BUT NEVER DID. MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND WAS HIT BY SOMEONE SPEEDING AND GOING THROUGH A STOP SIGN.
"TAKATA RECALL" I AM THE OWNER OF THE TOYOTA COROLLA VEHICLE WITH THE VIN DETAILS SUPPLIED ABOVE. I RECENTLY STUMBLE TO NHTSA SEARCH TOOL WHERE I CAME ACROSS HOW TO CHECK WITH MY VIN TO KNOW IF MY VEHICLE IS AMONG THE RECALLED VEHICLES, UNFORTUNATELY, MY VIN DETAILS SUPPLIED CONFIRMED TO ME THAT MY VEHICLE IS ONE OF THE RECALLED VEHICLE WITH STATUS SHOWING "RECALL INCOMPLETE". I LIVE HERE IN NIGERIA AND I USE THE CAR HERE IN NIGERIA, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHERE I COULD REPLACE BY PASSANGER AIRBAG HERE IN NIGERIA. I LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR PROMPT ADVICE ON THIS. THANK YOU.
TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER IN MIAMI FOR SRS RECALL, LIGHT CAME ON ABOUT 6 MONTH EARLIER, ADVISOR TOLD ME THEY REPLACE SRS CONTROL UNIT, BUT LIGHT STILL ON AND AIRBAG ARE NOT OPERATIONAL, I WAS TOLD PROBABLY A SPIRAL CABLE NEEDS TO BE REPLACE AT MY EXPENSE AND THAT IS NOT COVERED. I SEE A LOT OF THIS SAME PROBLEM HAPPENING ON COROLLAS SPIRAL CABLE FAILURE. TOYOTA IS NOT ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE WHICH MAKES SRS SYSTEM INOPERATIVE THEN WHAT IS THE POINT OF ALL THE SRS RECALL. THIS ISSUES NEEDS TO BE ADDRESS
THE WHEEL COVERS ON THE 2003 TOYOTA COROLLA COME OFF WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION IN HIGHWAY DRIVING AND FLY INTO OTHER CARS. WE HAVE LOST 3 WHEEL COVERS TO DATE. THEY ARE VERY DANGEROUS WHEN THEY FLY OFF. MANY OTHER TOYOTA CARS WITH WHEEL COVERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THE WHEEL COVER HAVE FLOWN OFF ON MULTIPLY DATES.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V043000 (AIR BAGS) AT MARIETTA TOYOTA (750 COBB PKWY S, MARIETTA, GA 30062 (770) 422-1490). SEVERAL DAYS AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO MARIETTA TOYOTA WHERE THE DIAGNOSTIC RESULTS WERE UNKNOWN. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT RELATED TO THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,300.
WE ARE A SALVAGE YARD, THIS VEHICLE WAS CRUSHED MAY 30,2017
I WAS DRIVING AT A TRACK EVENT AND MY ENGINE STARTED TO KNOCK, MY OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON. I DROVE IT BACK TO MY PARKING SPOT, LOADED IT ON A FRIENDS TRAILER AND GOT IT HOME. I CHECKED AND TOPPED OFF MY OIL BEFORE LEAVING BUT WE FOUND OUT IT WAS DUE TO OIL STARVATION.
HAD 2 AIRBAG RECALLS COMPLETED AT DEALERSHIP-AIRBAG LIGHT ON DASHBOARD WAS STILL ON WHEN JOBS WERE COMPLETED--I WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST $105 TO 'DIAGNOSE' THE AIRBAG SYSTEM IS NOT SAFE....I SHOULD NOT BE CHARGED TO DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR SYSTEM THAT IS FAULTY
TAKATA RECALL. RECEIVED A MAILING TO GO TO A WEBSITE: WWW.AUTOAIRBAGSETTLEMENT.COM TO FILL OUT THE ONLINE FORM & SUBMIT OR MAIL IT. THERE WAS NO FORM ONLINE. GOT SOMEONE NAME NANCY ON CHAT WHO GAVE ME A RUN AROUND. I WANT TO FILE A CLAIM AND BE PART OF THE SETTLEMENT. TOYOTA SERVICE INSTALLED SUB WIRE HARNESS AND REPLACED SRS ECU, 1 SENSOR ASSY, AIR BAG, 1 HARNESS AIR BAG.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT WAS NOT EXPERIENCING A FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
HI, I GOT RECALLED AIRBAG FOR MY CAR, 2003 TOYOTA COROLLA, I TOOK TO THE DEALER THEY FIXED AIR BAG RECALLED. BUT AFTER TWO MONTHS AIR BAG RED LIGHT ON, STILL ON NOW, THEN I TALKED TO THE DEALER AGAIN THEY ARE CHARGING ME TO CHECK AIR BAG LIGHT $175.00. PLEASE ADVICE ME WHAT DO I DO?? THANK YOU !!!
"TAKATA RECALL" I HAVE HAD MY AIRBAG INFLATOR REPLACED, SO THAT MY AIRBAG WILL NOT INFLATE UNEXPECTEDLY. BUT MY MAIN CONCERN NOW IS WITH THE AIRBAG. IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD. I HAVE A DAUGHTER THAT RIDES IN THE FRONT WITH ME. NOBODY IS TAKING CARE OF THE AIRBAG ITSELF. THERE ARE METAL FRAGMENTS IN THOSE AIRBAGS, AND IF I AM IN AN ACCIDENT THOSE FRAGMENTS WILL COME SHOOTING OUT OF THOSE BAGS WHICH WILL RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY AND POSSIBLY DEATH. IT HAS HAPPENED TO OTHERS. WHAT IS TOYOTA GOING TO DO ABOUT THE AIRBAGS.
INSTRUMENT DISPLAY PANEL FAILS TO LIGHT UP IN THE STATIONARY POSITION FOR APPROX. 15 SECONDS. WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT AND VEHICLE IS MOVING INSTRUMENT DISPLAY MAY NOT COME ON.
REAR WHEEL BEARINGS FAILURE (SAFETY DEFECT) -- 2003 TOYOTA COROLLA. EXCERPTS FROM MY E-MAIL TO TOYOTA MOTOR SALES, U.S.A. INC. FOLLOW: "THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP HAS RECENTLY RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE REAR HUB AXLE BEARINGS DUE TO A HUMMING NOISE, AT A COST OF OVER $1,000.00. THIS RECOMMENDATION HAS FLOORED ME AS THIS TYPE OF REPAIR FOR A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 90,000 MILES DOES NOT SEEM TO BE CONSISTENT WITH THE QUALITY STANDARDS PROMULGATED BY TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION. APPARENTLY, THIS PROBLEM IS WIDESPREAD AS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (NHTSA #10015608) WAS ISSUED." THE TOYOTA CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE CENTER SUBSEQUENTLY ACKNOWLEDGED THE REAR WHEEL BEARINGS ISSUE ADDRESSED IN MY E-MAIL ABOVE, CREATING CASE # 1703301220. DESPITE TOYOTA HAVING ISSUED TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN #00105 ON THIS VERY MATTER, THE TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVE AT THE CUSTOMER CENTER CLEARLY STATED IN A SUBSEQUENT PHONE CALL THERE IS NO WARRANTY COVERAGE, NO CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION, AND NO-RECALL ISSUED. AFTER CONTACTING THE TOYOTA CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE CENTER, I WAS RELUCTANT TO REPLACE THE REAR WHEEL BEARINGS FOR ALMOST $1,000.00 IF THE ONLY ISSUE WAS WITH HUMMING WHICH BLENDED IN WITH NORMAL ROAD NOISE. BUT THE MECHANICS AT THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS SUBSEQUENTLY WARNED ME THAT FAILURE TO HAVE THE REAR WHEEL BEARINGS REPLACED MEANT I WAS DRIVING A CAR WITH A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD WITH A SIGNIFICANT PROBABILITY OF WHEEL FAILURE (I.E. THE BEARING(S) COULD COMPLETELY FAIL AT ANY TIME AND CAUSE THE REAR WHEEL TO FALL OFF THE CAR). I THEN AUTHORIZED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP IN APRIL 2017 TO REPLACE THE WHEEL BEARINGS (AT MY EXPENSE). ONE CANNOT BUT WONDER HOW MANY ACCIDENTS OR INCIDENTS IN CONNECTION WITH REAR WHEEL BEARINGS HAVE OCCURRED WITH TOYOTA COROLLAS FOR DRIVERS WHO UNKNOWINGLY DRIVE THEIR VEHICLES WITH REAR WHEEL BEARINGS THAT HAVE BEEN COMPROMISED OR FAILED.
UPON GETTING THE ECU RECALL TAKEN CARE OF FOR MY VEHICLE, I WAS TOLD THAT MY AIR BAG INDICATOR DASH LIGHT WAS LIT BECAUSE OF ERROR CODE B1181 WHICH, I WAS TOLD BY THE TOYOTA SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE, IS CAUSED BY A WORN SPIRAL CABLE. HE INFORMED ME THAT THIS PROBLEM COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE MY AIR BAGS TO NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. EARLIER THAT DAY, I HAD THE SPIRAL CABLE RECALL REMEDIED ON MY 2008 TOYOTA YARIS. THIS IS INCONSISTENT AND DANGEROUS TO FIX A PROBLEM IN ONE VEHICLE AND NOT IN ANOTHER. I'M ASKING THAT THE SPIRAL CABLE RECALL BE EXTENDED TO ALL APPLICABLE VEHICLES.
WE WERE PARKED IN A PARKING LOT. MY WIFE GOT INTO THE CAR, PUT HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO TAKE THE CAR OUT OF PARK, AND PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE. THE CAR ACCELERATED RAPIDLY BACKWARD WITH THE ENGINE REVVING AND NO EFFECT FROM THE BRAKES, AND HIT A POLE. WITH THE ENGINE STILL RACING, MY WIFE THEN PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE, STILL WITH HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE, AND IT SPED FORWARD RUNNING INTO THE BACK OF A PICKUP TRUCK. THE ENGINE WAS RACING AND THERE WAS NO EFFECT WITH PUSHING ON THE BRAKE. THE PICKUP TRUCK WAS PUSHED FORWARD ABOUT A FOOT HITTING A GUARD RAIL IN THE FRONT OF THE PARKING SPACE.

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO AIR BAG RECALL. *LD THE CONSUMER WAS FIRST ADVISED THAT THE RECALL REPAIR COULD NOT BE COMPLETED BECAUSE THERE WAS A WIRE THAT NEED TO REPAIRED BEFORE THE AIR BAG COULD BE REPLACED. A YEAR LATER THE CONSUMER WAS ADVISED THAT THE AIR BAG HAD ALREADY BEEN DEPLOYED. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT WAS NOT TRUE, THE AIRBAGS HAD NEVER DEPLOYED. UPDATED 05/19/2017 *JS
"TAKATA RECALL" I HAD A RECALL TO GET AIRBAG FIXED, TOOK TO DEALER, AND WAS SUPPOSEDLY FIXED. AFTER A FEW WEEKS THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON; TOOK BACK TO DEALER, THEY WANTED A LOT OF MONEY TO CHECK IT OUT AND FIX IT AGAIN. I DON'T HAVE, I AM A DISABLED VETERAN ON A FIXED INCOME. THE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS.
VEHICLE IGNITION SWITCH ENGAGES STARTER ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS WHEN TURNING THE KEY. AFTER A UNSPECIFIED PERIOD OF TIME HAS LAPSED, THE VEHICLE WILL ENGAGE STARTER AND START. VEHICLE HAS BEEN STRANDED NUMEROUS TIMES AROUND TOWN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. TAKATA RECALL--I HAVE TRIED REPEATEDLY TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TO HAVE MY AIRBAG REPLACED. I CAN NEVER GET AN ANSWER. I HAVE REPLIED SEVERAL TIMES TO THE TOYOTA SAFETY RECALL RESOLUTION TEAM AT 1-888-312-5994. THEY ALSO HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET AN ANSWER AND THEY'VE ADVISED ME TO CALL THE DEALERSHIPS DIRECTLY. THE LAST ATTEMPTS WERE MADE THIS MORNING AND THE RESOLUTION TEAM SUGGESTED I JUST DRIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO MAKE MY APPOINTMENT SINCE THEY WILL NOT ANSWER THE PHONE. WHY IS THIS SO INCONVENIENT? WHY CAN'T TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS ANSWER PHONES TO MAKE APPOINTMENTS AND MAKE THESE CHANGES? HOW CAN I GET THIS REPAIR DONE IN A TIMELY AND CONVENIENT FASHION?
I'VE TRIED TO REPORT BOTH ITEMS TO TYSONS TOYOTA IN THE PAST. THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW HAS "EXPLODED" IN, ONCE WHILE I WAS IN THE CAR. I'M ON MY THIRD WINDOW AND IT RATTLES WHEN THE WINDOW IS PARTIALLY OPEN. I FEAR ANOTHER EXPLOSION. SECOND, THE PAINT ON THIS BLUE CAR HAS RUSTED AND PEELED ON THE ROOF AND TRUNK. WHEN I GOOGLED THE YEAR, MAKE, MODEL, AND COLOR, THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF 2003-04 CARS EXPERIENCING THE SAME DEFECT. DESPITE BEING AN OLDER CAR, THERE ARE MANY STILL ON THE ROAD. TOYOTA CLAIMS THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. HOWEVER, WITH SO MANY OCCURANCES, ONE WOULD THINK TOYOTA WOULD LOOK INTO THE QUALITY OF BLUE PAINT USED. IT WOULD COST OVER $900 JUST TO HAVE THE ROOF AND TRUNK REPAIRED AND REPAINTED. THE SIDE BACK PANELS ARE NOW BEGINNING TO RUST. I SAW WHERE SEQUOIA WHITE SUVS WERE AFFORDED FREE REPAINTING BECAUSE OF A SIMILAR ISSUE. (IF SOMEONE CAN AFFORD A SEQUOIA, THEY COULD PROBABLY AFFORD TO GET THEIR CARS REPAINTED!)

TAKATA RECALL ALL DEALERS I CONTACTED HAVE A "AT LEAST ONE MONTH, LIKELY TWO MONTH" WAITING LIST FOR THIS RECALL REPAIR. CONSIDERING THE NOTICE STATES "UNTIL THE REMEDY IS PERFORMED, WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT OPERATE THE VEHICLE WITH AN OCCUPANT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT," THE TIME FRAME SEEMS EXCESSIVE. THEY ALL NOTED IT WAS DUE TO A DELAY IN RECEIVING THE PARTS.

MY SMOG LIGHT KEEPS GOING ON EVEN AFTER I HAVE IT REPAIRED. I KNOW SOMEONE WHO HAS THE SAME EXACT CAR THAT I HAVE AND SHE GOT THE RECALL ON THE ECM AND THEY REPLACED IT AND SHE DID NOT HAVE TO REPLACE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER TO PASS THE CA SMOG. I REPLACED IT ALREADY AND IT IS SUPER EXPENSIVE...1,600!! LAST YEAR I HAD MY CAR SERVICE FOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND IT COST ME 1,000. AFTERWARDS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AGAIN. THEY ARE SAYING I HAVE TO HAVE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACED AGAIN. I FEEL THIS IS UNFAIR IF MY FRIEND HAD THAT CONTROL MODULE REPLACED AND NO LONGER HAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT PROBLEM LIKE I AM HAVING. I BELIEVE IT COULD BE THE MECHANISM IS FAULTY. IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE I HAVE TO REPLACE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER ALL OVER AGAIN. I DID NOT DRIVE THAT MANY MILES. PLUS IN CA THEY SAID THEY WOULD GIVE US MONEY TOWARDS THE REPAIR BUT IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT AND I WAS LED TO BELIEVE I COULD GET 500 PLUS 800 SO I THOUGHT I WOULD BE PAYING THE BALANCE AFTER 1300 WHICH WOULD HAVE STILL BEEN 300 PLUS BUT I WAS ONLY ABLE TO GET 500 TOWARDS THE REPAIR SO I STILL HAD TO PAY 1,100! IT REALLY BOTHERS ME BECAUSE MY FRIEND WHO HAS THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOING ON AND THEY RECALLED IT AND REPLACED IT SHE HAS NEVER HAD TO REPLACE HER CATALYTIC CONVERTER YET BUT I AM NOW HAVING TO DO IT TWICE! SHE HAS HIGH MILEAGE PERHAPS MORE THAN I HAVE. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS FOR ME.
TAKATA RECALL I'M NOT CONFIDENT THAT TOYOTA IS ADEQUATELY SOLVING THE AIRBAG ISSUE AS I'VE RECEIVED MULTIPLE RECALLS FOR THE SAME OR SIMILAR ISSUES. DURING THE INITIAL RECALL I DISCUSSED WITH TOYOTA THAT THEY SHOULD REPLACE THE AIRBAGS IF THERE IS ANY CONCERN OVER QUALITY. THEY DID NOT DO THAT AND STATED THAT AFTER INSPECTION I WAS NOT AFFECTED. SINCE THEN I'VE RECEIVED MORE RECALLS FOR THE SAME ISSUE. I'M CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY AND THE RESALE VALUE OF MY CAR, BOTH OF WHICH TOYOTA HAS PUT AT SERIOUS RISK. I DO NOT BELIEVE THEY ARE TAKING THIS ISSUE SERIOUSLY NOR ATTEMPTING TO SOLVE IT IN A TIMELY AND PROPER MANNER.
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE VIA MAIL REGARDING THE SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM AND ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT IN JUNE OF 2016. I CALLED MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER WHO HAS PERFORMED RECALLS IN THE PAST ON MY VEHICLE TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. ON JUNE 13TH, 2016 I SPOKE TO A REP AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WERE OUT OF PARTS AND WOULD CALL ME WHEN THE PARTS WERE IN, APPROX 4-6 WEEKS. ON JULY 13TH, 2016 I PLACED A FOLLOW UP CALL AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WERE STILL NOT IN AND THEY WOULD CALL ME IN APPROXIMATELY 6-8 WEEKS. TO THIS DATE I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A CALL THAT THE PARTS ARE IN; THEREFORE I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS TOYOTA DEALER HAS REMEDIED THIS RECALL IN A TIMELY MANNER. I HAVE FOLLOWED THE DIRECTIONS ON THE NHTSA.GOV WEBSITE TO FILE A COMPLAINT AGAINST THE MANUFACTURER. TANAKA RECALL. I HAD ALL RECALLS DONE SINCE THE FIRST ONE IN 2013. AT MY 2016 RECALL TOYOTA MECH SAID RECALL WAS DONE AND THAT ALL WAS GOOD AND IT WAS SAFE NOW. I LEFT LOT CONVINCED IT WAS TRUE AND I COULD NOW ALLOW RIDERS IN FRONT SEAT WITHOUT THREAT OF INJURY /DEATH. N0W 2018 DISCOVER WAS NOT SAFE TO HAVE PASSENGER. THAT MORE RECALLS COMING BUT PARTS NOT PRODUCED FULLY IN 2016. AIRBAG WAS REPLACED BY SAME DEFECTIVE AIRBAG AS TAKEN OUT,ONLY DIFFERENCE BEING THAT IT WAS ONLY OUT OF BOX NOT SAFE REDESIGNED TYPE!!WHY WAS I NOT INFORMED THAT THIS WAS THE CASE WHEN I GOT THE LAST RECALL INSTALLED??NOW HAVE ANOTHER NOTICE THAT THE REAL SAFE ONE HAS FINISHED PRODUCTION AND I CAN HAVE ONE INSTALLED NOW. MEANTIME MY FAMILY INCLUDING GRANDCHILDREN HAVE BEEN IN SERIOUS DANGER OF SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH BY RIDING IN THE FRONT SEAT!! CONTACTED VARIOUS TOYOTA OFFICIALS BUT NO ATTEMPT AT EXPLAINING PROBLEM. IN FACT PASSED TO "GENERIC: UNTRAINED EMPLOYEE WHO, OR COURSE, WAS TOTALLY UNPREPARED TO OFFER ADVICE OR ANY ANSWERS CONCERNING SAFETY, PROBLEM.TRIED WEST COAST CEO ? AGAIN TO END UP IN SAME CUSTOMER SERVICE. CANNOT ENTER PLACE TIME ETC SINCE SAFETY NEGLIGENCE OCCURRED OVER AT LEAST 2 YEARS AND WAS THERE AT EVERY PLACE AND TIME I DROVE A PASSENGER ANYWHERE.

I TOOK MY CAR FOR A AIRBAG RECALL. MY AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON PRIOR TO RECALL. I REALLY DON'T KNOW IF THIS FIXED, BECAUSE LIGHT IS STILL ON. FROM WHAT I HEARD MY AIRBAG WON'T EVEN WORK WITH THE LIGHT BEING ON . CALL SOMEONE ON TOYOTA AND THE SAID IT WOULD AN EXTRA CHARGE TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED. SHOULDN'T THE PROBLEM HAVE BEEN FIX WHEN I TOOK IT FOR THE RECALL BECAUSE OF A DEFECTIVE AIRBAG.

A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN IMPOUND LOT. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 167,000.

MY 2003 TOYOTA CORROLA (ODOMETER READING APPROX. 230,000 MILES) NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM TILL THIS YEAR AROUND MARCH WHEN MY WIFE NOTICED THAT THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELARATED AND SHE COULDN'T REDUCE THE SPEED BY BRAKING. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT, AND THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY SUDDNELY AS IT CAME. THIS THING HAPPENED TWICE AFTERWARDS THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO SEARS AUTO CENTER, NATICK, MA AND THEY CLEANED A DIRTY THROTTLE. THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY TILL THREE DAYS AGO THE PROBLEM CAME BACK. I WAS DRIVING THIS TIME IN BROAD DAYLIGHT WITH MEDIUM TRAFFIC. SUDDENLY THE CAR STARTED ACCELARATING AND I COULDN'T REDUCE ACCELARATION BY BRAKING. I CLEARED THE FLOOR MAT AREA IN CASE THERE WAS ANY BLOCKAGE. BUT THERE WAS NONE, AND THE CAR KEPT ON ACCELARATING. IT SCARED THE WITS OUT OF ME, AND I HAD TO STOP THE CAR BY MOVING THE GEAR TO 'PARK'. I INTEND TO TAKE THE CAR BACK TO SEARS AUTO. BUT, IT MAY BE A CHRONIC PROBLEM OF 'SUDDEN ACCELARATION AND FAILURE TO BRAKE' WITH MANY TOYOTA AUTOMOBILES.
