TOYOTA IS NOT ACTING TIMELY TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITH AIR BAG INFLATOR MODULE. IT INDICATES NOW THAT IT MAY BE 18 MONTHS OR LONGER FROM FIRST NOTIFICATION, WHICH WAS APRIL 2013 WHERE VEHICLES WERE TO BE INSPECTED AND FIXED IF EQUIPPED WITH AFFECTED MODULE. TAKATA GAVE WRONG SERIAL NUMBERS ON THE FAULTY MODULE SO VEHICLES FIXED AND/OR NOT FIXED OR INSPECTED NEED TO BE RECALLED AS OF JUNE 11, 2014. I ATTEMPTED TO HAVE MINE FIXED AUGUST 2014, HOWEVER TOYOTA SERVICE STILL DIDN'T HAVE THE REPLACEMENT PARTS. MY DAUGHTER TOOK CAR TO COLLEGE BUT NO SERVICE DEALER WAS AVAILABLE THERE. I JUST LEARNED OF THIS 2ND RECALL WHEN MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP CANCELLED THE APPOINTMENT I HAD FOR TODAY (6/20/14) TO HAVE THE FIRST RECALL FIXED. I AM TOLD THAT THEY NEED TO REDESIGN THE PART AND WILL BE REPLACING IT IN ALL VEHICLES AFFECTED, INCLUDING THOSE WHO RECEIVED A REPLACEMENT PART UNDER FIRST RECALL. NO REDESIGN HAS BEEN DONE, NOR TO THEY KNOW WHEN IT WILL BE DONE, LIKELY MORE MONTHS! IN INTERIM I HAVE A TICKING TIME BOMB BEING DRIVEN BE A TEEN DRIVER MORE PRONE TO ACCIDENTS. I DO NOT WANT AN SAFETY DEVICE IN CAR TO CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY! TOYOTA HAS HAD 15 MONTHS TO FIX THIS. IT NOW HALTS THE REPAIR OF AFFECTED VEHICLES INDEFINITELY WITHOUT ANY SOLUTION OR REMEDY?! YET ARE WILLING TO FIX VEHICLE WHERE A AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON? HOW? I WAS TOLD BY TOYOTA CORPORATE I COULD RECEIVE A LOANER VEHICLE IN THE INTERIM OF THIS REMEDY AND TO CONTACT MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER. I DID. THEY REFUSE TO COMPLY WITH THIS REQUEST SINCE NO LIGHT IS ON MY DASHBOARD. YOUR REPORTS DO NOT INDICATE THAT A LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD (10537899, 10568848, 10585224) OCCURRED PRIOR TO INCIDENT. I LIVE IN A HUMID CLIMATE SEVERAL MONTHS OF THE YEAR ANOTHER CONCERN FOR OWNERS. TOYOTA CONTINUES TO ASK ABOUT MILES ON VEHICLE, IS THAT BECAUSE THEY ARE OLDER MODELS AND THEY SECRETLY WANT THEM TO DIE FIRST!!! *TR

ONGOING AIR BAG LIGHT ON AFTER 4 RECALL VISITS TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, FROM 6-7-2014. I HAVE WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP ON EVERY RECALL, IN FACT AT ONE CALL RECALL THEY SAID I NEEDED A CLOCK SPRING THAT SHORTED OUT. MY NEXT VISIT THEY SAID I NEED A CLOCK SPRING UNTIL I SHOWED THEM THE INVOICE FOR $493.35 FROM THE LAST VISIT ON 5-2-2015 THEY SAID I NEEDED A COMPUTER THAT IS BACK ORDERED. STILL WAITING!

I CAN NOT GET A STRAIGHT ANSWER FROM TOYOTA, BOTH MY LOCAL DEALER AND THE CORPORATE OFFICE REGARDING A PASSENGER AIR BAG RECALL (FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATOR MODULE). IT'S BEEN ALMOST A FULL YEAR, AND NO ONE CAN TELL ME WHEN THIS REPAIR WILL BE DONE. THE LAST LETTER I RECEIVED (FEB. 3, 2015) FROM TOYOTA, SAID THEY ARE WORKING ON STATES WITH HIGH HUMIDITY FIRST. THEIR SOLUTION, IS NOT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND USE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION, AND RENT A VEHICLE. THIS IS NOT A SOLUTION. I LIVE IN MASSACHUSETTS, AND IT GETS PRETTY HUMID DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS. I THINK TOYOTA THINKS THE LONGER THEY WAIT THE FEWER RECALLS THEY WILL HAVE TO PERFORM AS THE VEHICLES ARE GETTING OLDER AND OLDER. *TR
ONE YEAR AGO, IN JUNE OF 2014 ACCORDING TO THE LETTER, I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE ON MY CAR. THIS WOULD BE THE SECOND SAFETY RECALL NOTICED I RECEIVED CONCERNING MY CAR'S AIRBAGS. THE LETTER STATES THAT THE RECALL IS STILL IN INTERIM STATUS, SO THERE IS NOTHING I AM ABLE TO DO AS OF YET. OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS I HAVE CALLED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP CHECKING THE STATUS OF NOT ONLY THIS RECALL, BUT ANOTHER I RECEIVED A YEAR EARLIER. THERE HAS YET TO BE A CHANGE IN THE STATUS OF EITHER SAFETY RECALL. I FEEL THAT I HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY PATIENT IN WAITING FOR SOLUTIONS TO THE POTENTIAL EQUIPMENT MALFUNCTIONS IN MY VEHICLE, HOWEVER THIS PROBLEM STILL HAD YET TO BE REMEDIED.

I HAVE MY TOYOTA COROLLA 2003 AIR BAG LIGHT ON FOR 3 MONTHS NOW, THERE IS NO RECALL ACTIVATED OR THE BOTTOM LINE THERE IS NO LETTER OR A MESSAGE TO INFORM ME THAT MY CAR HAS TO BE FIXED. I DRIVE 150 MILES A DAY AND THE RISK IS HIGHER SINCE THE AIR BAG ARE NOT FUNCTIONAL. WHY DO WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR A CRASH AND DEATH OCCURS THEN PUSH FOR ACTIVATION FOR RECALL. ON YOUR WEBSITE YOU SUGGESTED TO CALL TOYOTA SERVICE, I DID , I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE FIX. ACCIDENT INVOLVING THIS CAR REAR ENDING ANOTHER VEHICLE. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THIS CAR WAS INVOLVED IN A RECALL IN EARLY 2013 INVOLVING AIRBAGS DEPLOYING DUE TO FAULTY ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE. WE COMPLIED WITH THE SAFETY RECALL NOTICE AND HAD THE CAR REPAIRED BY TOYOTA IN 3/2013. *TR
THE RED LIGHT FOR AIR BAGS HAS GONE OFF AND ON INTERMITTENTLY FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW. IN THE PAST IT WOULD ONLY DO THIS FOR BRIEF PERIOD OF TIME. NOW IT HAS GONE ON AND STAYED ON. I HAVE TAKEN CAR TO DEALER AND CALLED TOYOTA CUST SVC. DEALER WANTS TO CHARGE FOR DIAGNOSTIC TEST. NEVER HAD ACCIDENT THAT CAUSED AIR BAGS TO DEPLOY. THINK TOYOTA SHOULD FIX THIS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SPIRAL CABLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,800.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 25-30 MPH WHEN THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED INADVERTENTLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. THE INTERIOR CABIN IMMEDIATELY FILLED WITH SMOKE AND CHEMICALS THAT WERE BEING RELEASED FROM THE AIR BAG, OBSTRUCTING THE CONTACT'S VISIBILITY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SHIFT INTO PARK AND STOP THE VEHICLE WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH A LOCAL DEALER, WHO ADVISED THAT IT COULD POSSIBLY TAKE OVER SIXTY DAYS TO INVESTIGATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER'S SIDE SEAT BELTS COULD NOT BE USED, AS THEY WERE STUCK IN A LOCKED POSITION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 154,000.

I HAVE RECEIVED 3 SAFETY RECALLED NOTICES APPLIED TO MY CAR. ON JANUARY, 2014 I WENT TO A LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER. THEY TOOK MY INFORMATION, BUT DID NOT GIVE ME AN APPOINTMENT BECAUSE OF NOT A COMPUTER SYSTEM. THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD CALL BACK. I CALLED THEM 10 TIMES AND THEY NEVER HAD COMPUTER SYSTEM OR PEOPLE TO RECEIVE MY CALLS.I CALLED TOYOTA PUERTO RICO, I GAVE MY PHONE NUMBER AND A SHORT DESCRIPTION OF MY PROBLEM. I NEVER RECEIVED A CALL BACK. ON JULY, 2014, I VISITED ANOTHER TOYOTA DEALER WITH THE SAME RESULT: NO MASSAGE NOR CALL BACK. THERE IS ENOUGH TIME AND OPPORTUNITIES TO FULFILL WITH THIS CAR RECALL, THE REASON TO SUBMIT RESPECTFULLY THIS COMPLAINT. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AND WAS IN THE PROCESS OF COMING TO A STOP WHEN THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND I WAS KNOCKED OUT. I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL FOLLOWUP NOTIFICATION IN EARLY JANUARY 2014 REGARDING THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATOR MODULE ISSUE. I NEVER RECEIVED THE FIRST NOTICE FOR THIS RECALL. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE WESTCHESTER, NY TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TO HAVE MY CAR EVALUATED AND DROPPED IT OFF ON JANUARY 14TH. I GOT A CALL THE NEXT DAY SAYING THAT I WOULD NEED TO HAVE A PART REPLACED AND THAT I WOULD BE GIVEN A RENTAL FREE OF CHARGE (BESIDES THE $100 DEPOSIT) HOWEVER, I DECLINED THE RENTAL. SEVERAL DAYS WENT BY WITHOUT A WORD FROM THE DEALERSHIP SO I CALLED TO FOLLOWUP. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE PART WAS NOT YET SHIPPED OUT AND THEY WOULD CALL BACK WITH ANY UPDATES. I ASKED IF I COULD HAVE MY CAR BACK UNTIL THE PART CAME IN BUT THEY INFORMED ME THAT SINCE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE I CANNOT HAVE MY CAR BACK. THE RENTAL WAS OFFERED TO ME AGAIN. A WEEK LATER I GOT ANOTHER CALL TELLING ME AGAIN THAT THE PART WAS NOT YET SHIPPED. IT IS NOW MARCH 9...IT HAS NEARLY BEEN TWO MONTHS SINCE I DROPPED MY CAR OFF. I SPOKE TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN AND THEY SAID THE PART IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER AND THE DO NOT KNOW WHEN THIS PART WILL BE SHIPPED OR WHEN MY CAR WILL BE FIXED...I UNDERSTAND THEY ARE OFFERING ME A RENTAL, HOWEVER, I AM PAYING TO HAVE MY VEHICLE ON THE ROAD AND I DO NOT WANT THE ADDED PRESSURE WORRYING ABOUT HAVING A RENTAL IN MY POSSESSION. IF THIS RECALL HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR SO LONG THIS PART SHOULD HAVE BEEN PRODUCED IN ENOUGH QUANTITIES TO FILL THE ORDERS PROPERLY. *TR

ON A SECOND OCCASION, THE CONTACT WAS COMPLETING A TURN AND CRASHED. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND TWO PASSENGERS SUSTAINED INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN FOR INSPECTION OF THE AIR BAG FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE RECURRING AIR BAG FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 165,040.

I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL REGARDING THE AIRBAGS FOR MY TOYOTA CAMRY. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP (COURTESY TOYOTA ON 436 IN ORLANDO) FOR THIS REPAIR. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP TO CHECK WHY THE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH. I WAS TOLD IT JUST NEEDED TO BE RESET. WHEN I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP, THE LIGHT WAS OFF, BUT AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 10 MILES IT CAME BACK ON. I SUBSEQUENTLY TOOK MY CAR TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE AIRBAG WAS "BAD" AND IT WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $600 TO REPLACE IT. SINCE THE WARNING LIGHT ONLY CAME ON AFTER THE DEALERSHIP ADDRESSED THE RECALL, I SUSPECT THAT SOMETHING WASN'T DONE CORRECTLY. PLEASE HELP! THANK YOU. *TR
IN NOVEMBER, 2013 THE OURISMAN CHANTILLY TOYOTA DEALER SERVICED MY CAR FOR 2 AIR BAG RELATED RECALLS. IN DECEMBER 2013 MY CAR SKID ON ICE AND HIT THE JERSEY BARRIER HEAD ON WITH A SIGNIFICANT FRONT IMPACT. THE FRONT BUMPER WAS ALL DAMAGED BUT NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. I HAVE CONTACTED THE TOYOTA DEALER "OURISMAN TOYOTA" IN CHANTILLY, VA WHERE I HAD PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW IN 2003. THE MANAGER RESPONDED THAT THE RECALL WORK WAS DONE PROPERLY AND THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE NON-DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAGS IN THE ACCIDENT AND THAT I SHOULD CONTACT TOYOTA FOR ANY CONCERNS. I HAVE CALLED TOYOTA AND THEY TOOK THE ISSUE VERY LIGHTLY AND SUGGESTED THAT THEIR AIRBAGS ARE ALL TESTED AND IF THERE WAS NO AIRBAG LIGHT ON PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT THEN THE AIRBAG WAS FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY. I INSISTED THAT SOMETHING MUST HAVE BEEN WRONG WITH THE AIRBAGS AND ARGUED THAT IF THEY ARE ALL SO PERFECT THEN WHY DO YOU HAVE SO MANY RECALLS. FINALLY HE ASKED ME TO SEND THE PHOTOS TO DETERMINE IF THE AIRBAG SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. I SENT THE ACCIDENT PHOTOS IN FEBRUARY 2014 AND HAVE SENT A REMINDER ON MARCH 2014 BUT THEY HAVE NOT RESPONDED BACK. I STRONGLY FEEL THAT TOYOTA IS IGNORING THIS ISSUE. SINCE THIS VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN BY ME AND MY FAMILY PARTICULARLY ME DAUGHTER, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF WE WERE AT DANGER DUE TO FAULTY AIRBAGS OR NOT. IF I AM GOING TO BUY ANOTHER VEHICLE THEN I SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO KNOW THE PROS AND CONS OF THE MAKES AND MODELS. MOST OF ALL I BELIEVE IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN.
