TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SOLENOIDS VALVE HAD MALFUNCTION DUE TO THE SHAVINGS FROM THE TRANSMISSION. AS A RESULT, THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA MATRIX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE SRS LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE PROBLEM RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DIAGNOSIS WAS THAT THE CLOCK SPRING WAS CRACKED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND MY CAR STALLED. I WAS ABLE TO STEER IT TO A WORKSHOP NEARBY BEFORE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE BATTERY WAS OLD & HAD IT REPLACED. STILL IT WONT START. THE NEXT DAY I TOWED IT TO TEL FORD SERVICE (PRIVATE SERVICE CENTER). THEY INSPECTED AND HAD THE ECM REPLACED WITH GENUINE TOYOTA PART. NOW CAR IS RUNNING FINE. THIS CAR HAD A RECALL & ECM WAS REPLACED IN 2010 AT PAGE TOYOTA. NOW IT HAS ECM REPLACED AGAIN. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF TOYOTA CAN REIMBURSE ME THE REPLACEMENT/REPAIR COST? *TR
MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING SOUTH AT 60MPH. SECOND CAR, GOING NORTH, ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ON TO SIDE ROAD DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME. BARELY HAD TIME TO APPLY BRAKES BEFORE IMPACT WITH HIS RIGHT REAR. MY DAUGHTER'S CAR HAD EXTENSIVE FRONT END DAMAGE. POLICE WERE CALLED. OTHER DRIVER CITED. INSURANCE COMPANY SAID CAR TOTALED. NOT A SINGLE AIR BAG INFLATED, IN SPITE OF FRONT END IMPACT. I REPORTED ALL OF THIS TO TOYOTA AND SENT THEM PICTURES OF THE CAR BUT THEY SEEMED UNINTERESTED. *TR
DRIVER AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY IN A HEAD ON COLLISION. *TR
. . TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN. A RELATIVE OF MINE RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER ON MY BEHALF FROM TOYOTA FOR MY VEHICLE. MY RELATIVE SAID HE SENT IT TO ME BY MAIL. I CONTACTED TOYOTA REALLY CONCERNED BECAUSE OUT OF NOWHERE MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON, MY CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING AND HORN. I HAVE HAD A RECALL BEFORE WHICH WAS SERVICED IN AUGUST OF 2011. I DECIDED TO CONTACT TOYOTA ABOUT THE LETTER AND IF IT WAS OKAY TO TAKE IN CAR WITHOUT LETTER. THEY RAN MY VIN# AND STATED THAT THE RECALL FOR MY CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED. I ASKED WHY I RECEIVED A LETTER OF RECALL AND WHY OUT OF NOWHERE MY CAR IS STARTING TO HAVE SOME MALFUNCTIONS THAT CAN BE A RISK TO MY LIFE. I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE. THE REP AT TOYOTA SAID TO GO IN TO SERVICE CENTER-BUT I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. I NEED HELP AND WOULD LIKE THIS RESOLVED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY AND MY VEHICLE. *TR
Unknown - The airbag light has been on for a while. Check engine light is also on, and after a few repairs/replacements of diagnosed issues the light remains. A Texas vehicle inspection report shows a P0420 fault code that will not go away, as well as a P0741 fault code about a torque converter clutch circuit underperforming or is stuck/off. I have a technical service bulletin from the inspection station that reads as follows: 10051865 Date: 04/16/2013 Toyota: In a collision, to help reduce injuries, with seat belt pre=tensioner and supplemental restraint systems (srs), it's possible that the devices may or may not perform as expected with unintended deployment.
I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE AT LESS THAN 5MPH WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. INSTEAD OF STOPPING, THE CAR ACCELERATED SUDDENLY, AND RAN INTO THE WALL 3 FEET IN FRONT OF THE PARKING SPACE. THE CAR WAS TOWED BY MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND DETERMINED TO BE TOTALED. THE MANUFACTURER INSPECTED THE CAR BUT DID NOT COME UP WITH A DIAGNOSIS. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY DID NOT BELIEVE IT WAS A DESIGN OR MANUFACTURING DEFECT. *TR
AFTER HAVING MY BATTERY CHANGED 1 MONTH PRIOR, ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CAME ON. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING AND ALL THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS STOPPED WORKING. (IE: RADIO, POWER WINDOWS, ALL LIGHTS ON DASHBOARD.) PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT I HAD BEEN EXPERIENCING A PROBLEM WITH STARTING THE CAR. THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENGAGE AND I NOTICED THAT ALL THE INDICATOR LIGHTS WERE NOT COMING ON WHEN STARTING THE CAR. I WOULD HAVE TO TURN OFF THE IGNITION AND RESTART THE CAR TWO OR THREE TIMES. WHEN I BOUGHT IT TO THE DEALER THEY SAID THEIR WAS A BROKEN WIRE IN RELAY BOX WHICH CAUSED THE BLOCK ASSEMBLY ? TO SHORT OUT. IT COST 1100.00 TO FIX AND IT IS ONLY GUARANTEED FOR 1 YEAR. THE CAR HAS ONLY 52,000 MILES ON IT. THIS PROBLEM SOUNDS LIKE THE PROBLEM WITH THE ECM RECALL BUT IT WAS CHANGED IN 2011. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN TOYOTA. SEEMS THAT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS ARE VERY PREVALENT IN TOYOTA VEHICLES. *TR
THE INTERIOR INDICATOR LIGHTS FOR THE AUTOMATIC GEARS HAVE NOT BEEN ON FOR 2 YEARS -- D, R, 2, NEUTRAL, ETC. I HAD SOMEONE FIX THIS 2 YRS AGO AND CHECK THE WIRING BUT IT RECURRED. ALSO, THE INDICATOR LIGHT FOR THE CLOCK WENT OUT ABOUT 1.5 YRS AGO. THE FUSES ARE IN GOOD CONDITION. OCCURS AFTER I START THE CAR AND AM MOVING AT ANY SPEED.
THE CAR POPS OUT THE 6TH GEAR. IT IS ALSO HARSH WHEN SHIFTING GEARS, BRAKES HAVE NOISE,AIR BAGS SIGN OFF.THE CAR HAS SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AND FRONT SUSPENSION SOUNDS HORRIBLE. *TR
I PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION, STARTED THE CAR AND TURN THE HEATER. A COUPLE OF SECOND WENT BY I STARTED SMELLING SOMETHING BURNING. THAT MADE ME TURN OFF THE CAR AND GET OUT OF THE CAR. WHEN I GOT OUT THE CAR I DIDN'T NOTICE ANY SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. A THOUGHT CAME TO MIND THAT MAYBE IT WAS ANOTHER CAR PASSING BY. SO AS I JUST GOT IN MY CAR, WITHIN 15 SECONDS OF DRIVING OUT OF THE PARKING GARAGE I NOTICED SMOKE COMING OUT THE POWER WINDOW SWITCH AND WITHIN THE WINDOW CRACKS. I WAS SO STARTLED AND DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. I PUT THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW DOWN, STOPPED THE CAR AND CALL 911. THIS INCIDENT COULD HAVE CAUSED ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE TRAFFIC AND BECAUSE I THOUGHT MY CAR WAS ON FIRE. THE FIRE DEPT. CHECKED MY CAR, THEY SMELLED THE ODOR AND TOLD ME JUST TO TAKE IT TO THE SHOP. WHEN I GOT TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP THEY INFORMED ME THERE WASN'T A RECALL. SO I DECIDED TO RESEARCH IT AND I FOUND A ARTICLE STATING THAT THE POWER-WINDOW SWITCH ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DIDN'T HAVE GREASE APPLIED EVENLY DURING PRODUCTION, CAUSING FRICTION IN THE SWITCH AND SOMETIMES SMOKE, ACCORDING TO TOYOTA. ON FEBRUARY 19TH, 2013 I CONTACTED TOYOTA CORPORATE OFFICE AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY COROLLA VIN NUMBER WASN'T CHOSEN FOR THE RECALL. EVERY OWNER THAT OWNS A TOYOTA LISTED SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN A LETTER INFORMING THEM ABOUT THE RECALL NO MATTER WHAT VIN NUMBER WAS CHOSEN! *TR
WE WERE EAST-BOUND ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET WHEN A WEST-BOUND VEHICLE MADE A LEFT TURN IMMEDIATELY IN FRONT OF US, ACROSS OUR LANE. I BRAKE, BUT COLLIDED WITH THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE OTHER DRIVER WAS UNHURT AND HIS VEHICLE WAS STILL DRIVABLE. OUR AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. MY WIFE, WHO IS 63 INCHES, 110 LBS, HAD HER RIBS CRACKED BY THE FORCE OF THE AIRBAG HITTING HER IN THE CHEST. HER SEAT WAS LOCKED IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION AT MAXIMUM DISTANCE FROM THE AIRBAG; HER SEATBELT WAS ON AND PROPERLY WORN. SHE WAS NOT HOLDING ANYTHING IN HER HANDS OR ON HER LAP. THE SPEED OF THE IMPACT WAS LOW ENOUGH THAT NEITHER OF US EVEN SUFFERED SERIOUS BRUISING FROM THE SEATBELTS. THE AIRBAG WAS THE SOLE SOURCE OF HER PHYSICAL INJURIES RESULTING FROM THE ACCIDENT. *TR
RECENTLY MY AIR BAG LIGHT STARTED COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY. AFTER SEARCHING TOYOTA/MATRIX FORUMS, I HAVE FOUND THE 2003-2008 TOYOTA MATRIX HAS HAD NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE AIR BAG SYSTEM. IT IS COMMON FOR THE CLOCK TO STOP WORKING, WHICH CASES THE AIR BAGS TO STOP FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. THIS ALSO SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2003-2008 COROLLA. I DON'T MIND THAT MY CLOCK DOESN'T WORK; HOWEVER, IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE IF IT IS THE CAUSE OF THE AIR BAG MALFUNCTION AND TOYOTA SHOULD RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. *TR
THE HEADLIGHTS SEEM NOTICEABLY DIM AT NIGHT WHILE DRIVING. I THOUGHT IT COULD BE MY EYES, BUT THEN A RIDER WITH ME NOTICED IT AS WELL AND MENTIONED IT TO ME, SO I KNOW IT IS NOT MY EYES. I PREFER NOT TO DRIVE AT NIGHT BECAUSE OF IT. I HAD MY GARAGE MECHANIC LOOK AT IT ABOUT A YEAR AGO TO SEE IF THE LIGHTS NEEDED ADJUSTMENT, AS BOTH HEADLIGHTS SEEMED OFF FROM EACH OTHER WHEN I AM PARKED IN MY GARAGE. I CAN'T REMEMBER IF HE TRIED TO MAKE AN ADJUSTMENT OR NOT. *TR

THE BRAKES WERE RELEASED AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A FENCE, TWO TREES AND A SIGN. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND WAS NOT INSPECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 29,000.
THE BACK SEATS DO ARE NOT ABLE TO BE OPENED FROM INSIDE THE CAR. THE TRUNK ALSO MALFUNCTIONED AND WILL NOT OPEN UP. IF THERE WAS A CHILD OR SOMEONE IN THE TRUNK, THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT WITHOUT PULLING APART THE WHOLE TRUNK ITSELF. I FIND THIS VERY DANGEROUS AND MAKES ME GRATEFUL ONE OF MY CHILDREN WEREN'T TRAPPED INSIDE WHEN IT DECIDED TO STOP WORKING PROPERLY. I WOULD LIKE TO FIND A RESOLUTION TO THIS MATTER SO THE SAFETY OF OTHERS IS NOT COMPROMISED! *TR

WE HAD AN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT ON AUGUST 30, 2012 IN BAYAMON, PUERTO RICO BETWEEN 11:15 TO 11:30 PM. WE RECEIVED A FIRST IMPACT ON THE LEFT BACK DOOR OF THE CAR AND ANOTHER IN THE FRONT (BUMPER) OF THE CAR, BECAUSE THE CAR IMPACT MADE IT GO ROUND AND IMPACT A FENCE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO REGISTRATION AND EMISSION RESULTS *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HE WAS UNABLE TO REGISTER HIS VEHICLE, BECAUSE THE DMV REQUESTED A SMOG EMISSIONS COMPLIANCE LETTER STATING THE VEHICLE COMPLIED WITH OR NET US FEDERAL SAFETY AND CALIFORNIA EMISSIONS STANDARDS. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED IN CANADA.
SHORTLY AFTER ACQUIRING THIS CAR, THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT COMES ON SOMETIMES AND SOMETIMES NOT. TOYOTA REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING TO REMEDY THIS PROBLEM.

THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WAS SCANNED BY A LOCAL SHOP WAS ADVISED OF THE CODE P0741 WAS TOLD MY TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPAIRED AT THE COST OF 2495.00 I HAVE NOT HAD THE MONEY TO FIX THE CAR WAS TOLD BY A FRIEND WHO WORKS FOR A SHOP THERE WAS A TSB FOR THIS CODE FOR MY CAR CALLED TOYOTA AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO SINCE THE WARRANTY IS UP ON MY CAR. I ASKED WHY THIS WAS NOT ADDRESSED WHEN MY CAR WAS TAKEN FOR THE ECM RECALL AND THE LADY FROM TOYOTA NAMED [XXX] BECAME VERY RUDE AND TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO AND THERE IS NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM AVAILABLE FOR YOUR VEHICLE AND ASKED IF THERE IS ANYTHING ELSE SHE COULD HELP ME WITH. IN APRIL 2012 I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE; THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. APPARENTLY THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE ECM OF THE CAR. IT WAS REPLACED AND SEEMED FINE. IN JULY I HEARD A GRINDING SOUND ON MY CAR. I BROUGHT IT TO A DEALERSHIP AND THEY FIXED THE ISSUE. IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL LINE. THEY DID A FLUSH ON ALL FLUIDS AND OTHER WORK. THE CAR WORKS GREAT. A WEEK LATER THE VEHICLE IS "CHOKING AND JERKING" WHEN I HIT THE GAS. SOUNDS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION. DEALERSHIP STATES IT IS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE. THEY LOOK IT OVER AND NOW I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. I'VE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE CAR BEFORE. I WAS NOT PROVIDED INFORMATION WHEN THE CAR WAS THERE ORIGINALLY ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION; I WAS DRIVING WITH A BAD TRANSMISSION. *TR

.......TOYOTA HAS ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN INDICATING THAT THE A/C CONDENSER IS NOT PROPERLY PROTECTED THE NUMBER FOR THIS REPORT IS AC002-06. HOWEVER, TOYOTA HAS REDESIGNED THE COROLLA TO CORRECTED IT IN 2007 BUT DID NOT DO ANYTHING FOR THE 2005 AND 2006 YEAR MODELS. LIVING IN THE SOUTHERN UNITED STATES WHERE SUMMER TEMPERATURES REACH 120 DEGREES THIS A HEALTH HAZARD DUE TO EXTREME HEAT. *TR
AC STOPPED WORKING IN PEAK SUMMER HEAT. AFTER RESEARCHING, REALIZED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN TOYOTAS MADE BEFORE 2006. TOYOTA HAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN AC002-06 WHICH IMPLIES THAT THE A/C CONDENSER IS NOT PROTECTED. THE COST TO REPLACE IS $600 AND WILL GO OUT AROUND 50K. IF YOU LOOK AT THE A/C CONDENSER ON THESE CARS VS. 2007-2009 TOYOTA HAS ADDED A PLASTIC COVER TO COVER THE HOLE LEFT IN 2005-2006. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR THE WARM STATES IN THE SOUTH. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON 55 SOUTH FREEWAY EXIT FROM 91 WEST TO MY WORK, MY CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED RESPONDING. IT STARTED JERKING AND SUDDENLY STOPPED THE ENGINE. LUCKILY TRAFFIC WASN'T THAT FAST OTHERWISE IT COULD HAVE CREATED A BIG PILE UP BEHIND ME. I PULLED OVER TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER AND STOPPED. I TRIED ABOUT 3-4 TIMES TO START, BUT IT DID NOT CRANK AT ALL. SO I CALLED THE TOW TRUCK AND TOWED TO NEARBY FIRESTONE IN ORANGE, CA. THEY FIRST SUSPECTED MAY BE THE BAD BATTERY, AND CHECKED AND REPLACE THE BATTERY BUT STILL DIDN'T START. SO THEY DID COMPLETE DIAGNOSIS AND FOUND THAT FUEL WASN'T REACHING TO THE ENGINE DUE TO FUEL PUMP FAILURE. THEY RECOMMENDED TO CHANGED THE WHOLE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY AND CHARGED ME ABOUT $1100. THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE HAS BEEN KNOWN ISSUES ON 05 TOYOTA COROLLA FOR FUEL PUMP FAILURE AND THEY KNEW IN 2005 AND ISSUED NOTICE TOO. I HAVE BOUGHT THIS BRAND NEW IN '04 AUGUST FROM TOYOTA IN CLAREMONT, CA. AT LEAST THEY SHOULD HAVE NOTIFIED US VIA EMAIL OR POSTAL MAIL SINCE THEY KNEW ABOUT IT, THAN I COULD HAVE GONE TO DEALERSHIP AND HAVE THEM CHECKED FOR IT. NOW, I AM STUCK WITH THE $1100 BILL. OUR DRIVER SIDE SRS AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT HAS BEEN INTERMITTENTLY ON FOR OVER A YEAR. SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T GO OUT WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED AND STAYS ON WHILE DRIVING; OTHER TIMES IT GOES OUT LIKE NORMAL A FEW SECONDS AFTER THE CAR IS STARTED, BUT SPONTANEOUSLY COMES ON AND STAYS ON LATER WHILE DRIVING. ONCE IT'S ON, I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND TURN THE IGNITION OFF, WAIT A FEW SECONDS, AND THEN RESTART THE CAR TO GET IT TO TURN OFF. THIS IS NOT ALWAYS SUCCESSFUL. THE TOYOTA DEALER WAS NO HELP AT ALL - COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG, AND SAID THAT I'D NEED TO BRING THE CAR BACK WHEN THE LIGHT WAS ACTUALLY ON. SINCE THE PROBLEM IS INCONSISTENT, I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO DO THAT. I'M VERY AFRAID THAT SOMEONE IN MY FAMILY MAY BE INJURED SHOULD WE GET IN A COLLISION, BECAUSE I UNDERSTAND THAT IF THE LIGHT IS ON, THE AIRBAG IS INOPERABLE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING 30 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME, GOING 30 MPH AS WELL, SUDDENLY SWITCHES ONTO THE LEFT LANE WITHOUT USING THEIR TURNING SIGNALS IN EFFORT TO AVOID THE PARKED CAR IN FRONT OF THEM, LEAVING ME LITTLE TIME TO BRAKE BEFORE CRASHING INTO THE CAR. I DRIVE A TOYOTA COROLLA 2005 AND THE HOOD WAS COMPLETELY BENT FORWARD ALONG WITH THE FRONT SIDES MAKING IT HARD TO OPEN THE FRONT DOORS, CRACKED HEAD LIGHTS, BUMPER SLIGHTLY DETACHED, AND A BROKEN RADIATOR. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT LAUNCH AT ALL EVEN THOUGH THE IMPACT REQUIRED IT. I WAS DRIVING WITH A PASSENGER WHO HURT THEIR KNEE AND I'M DEALING WITH NECK AND BACK PROBLEMS. *JS
ON SATURDAY, MARCH 24, 2012 THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. OVER THE LAST TWO DAYS, THE LIGHT HAS RANDOMLY GONE ON AND OFF. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS BOUGHT ON MONDAY, MARCH 26, 2012. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT IT NEEDED THE AIRBAG CLOCKSPRING TO BE REPLACED. THE OWNER DECLINED. I DECIDED TO DO RESEARCH FIRST AND FOUND A WHOLE LOT OF OTHER OWNERS HAVE THIS ISSUE. SOME HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN FOR SERVICES INCLUDING COMPLETE REPLACEMENT OF THE AIRBAG SYSTEM AND CLOCK (WHICH HAPPENS TO HAVE FAULTY CIRCUIT THAT CAN RESULT IN THE WARNING LIGHT COMING ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY.) SOME HAVE PAID OVER $1K IN SERVICE FEES. I CONTACTED TOYOTA ABOUT IT. THEY ARE NOT LOOKING TO OWN UP TO THIS QUALITY DEFECT. IT'S NOT A WEAR AND TEAR (VEHICLE AGE) ISSUE. THE CULPRIT APPEARS TO BE A COMPONENT THAT CRACKS OFF THE PCB ON THE CLOCK. SOMEONE HAS REPORTED HAVING RE-SOLDERED THIS COMPONENT TO ELIMINATE THE INTERMITTENT AIRBAG LIGHT ISSUE. HAVE BEEN TOLD BY SEVERAL MECHANICS THAT THERE IS DEFECT WITH THIS PARTICULAR MODEL CAR THAT THE BELT WILL SQUEAL AND THEN STOPS AFTER BEING DRIVEN FOR A FEW BLOCKS.
