THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V384000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) AND STATED THAT THE REPAIRS WERE PREVIOUSLY PERFORMED BY THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE ECM CONTROL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.

OVER A 8 MONTH PERIOD STARTED EXPERIENCING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WITH 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA (BOUGHT BRAND NEW IN 2005) IN JULY OF THIS YEAR, WAS FINALLY ABLE TO FUND THE NECESSARY REPAIRS. TORQUE CONVERTER HAD TO BE REPLACED(TRANSMISSION REBUILT) THIS ISSUE AFFECTED THE DRIVABILITY AND SAFETY OF THE CAR ON THE ROAD AND IT HAD BECOME INCUMBENT TO GET NECESSARY REPAIRS DONE. *TR
2005 TOYOTA COROLLA. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH ECM *TGW WHEN THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR THE RECALL, SHE WAS INFORMED A PROBLEM HAD OCCURRED. THE DEALER STATED THERE WAS A COMMUNICATION ERROR BETWEEN THE ECM AND SCAN TOOL. THE DEALER SUSPECTED THE REPLACEMENT ECM WAS DEFECTIVE, SO THEY ORDERED ANOTHER ECM. THE NEXT DAY, THE REPLACEMENT ECM WAS STILL GIVING A COMMUNICATION ERROR AND IN ORDER TO COMPLETE THE RECALL, THEY TECHNICIAN WOULD HAVE TO CUT IN AND FIGURE OUT WHICH WIRE WAS NOT CONNECTED. THE CONSUMER WAS THEN INFORMED THERE WOULD BE A CHARGE OF $200. THE CONSUMER STATED IT WAS UNETHICAL FOR TOYOTA TO OFFER TO FIX A PROBLEM WITHOUT STATING UP FRONT OF A POTENTIAL COST. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE AT 50 MPH OR ABOVE, THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY ADVISED THAT THERE WERE NO FAILURES FOUND WITHIN THE BRAKES AND HAD AT LEAST TEN MONTHS OF USE BEFORE NEEDING REPLACEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 74,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THE BRAKES WOULD NOT RESPOND. THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP ACCELERATING UNTIL IT CRASHED INTO A WALL AT THE CONTACTS HOME. WHEN THE CONTACT PLACED THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE IT ACCELERATED A SECOND TIME AND CRASHED INTO THE A NEIGHBORS HOME. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTO COLLISION SHOP. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,500.
IN APRIL,2011 TOOK CAR WITH 32120 MILES INTO DEALER FOR TOYOTA ENGINE COMPUTER RECALL REPLACEMENT.. SHORTLY AFTER REPLACEMENT APP. 50 MILES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I RETURNED TO DEALER ON 5/23/2011 MILEAGE AT THIS TIME WAS NOW 32599 AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD COST APP. $77 TO FIX THE PROBLEM WHICH WAS THE GAS CAP WHICH WAS LEAKING FUMES. I DID NOT HAVE THE WORK DONE BUT I DID HAVE THE GAS CAP CHECKED AT A CERTIFIED SMOG STATION AND CAP WAS FOUND TO BE OK. I WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH THE ANSWERS I WAS RECEIVING SO I CALLED TOYOTA CORP. CUSTOMER SERVICE AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT THE DEALER AND HAVE THEM CALL ME TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. LATER THAT DAY THE SERVICE MANAGER CALLED AND REQUESTED THAT I BRING THE CAR IN THAT DAY AND HE WOULD HAVE IT DIAGNOSED FOR FREE TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. I TOOK THE CAR IN AND AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME THE SERVICE TECH. SAID THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM MY FUEL FILLER NECK AND GAS CAP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO RUST AND CORROSION AT A COST OF OVER $400. I ASKED IF THIS WAS COVERED BY TOYOTA BECAUSE THE CAR ONLY HAS 33763 MILES AND WAS TOLD NO, I LIVE IN A DRY DESERT AREA SO I DON'T SEE WHY I'M HAVING A RUST AND CORRISION PROBLEM. I ALSO ASKED IF THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM AND AGAIN WAS TOLD NO. THE TECH.TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED TO LEAVE THE CAR AND HE NEEDED TO ORDER THE PART. I LEFT THE CAR AND WENT HOME AND I GOGGLED THIS PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS COMMON ENOUGH THAT TOYOTA ISSUED A TSB #02206, I ALSO FOUND MANY OTHER OWNERS THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM NOT ONLY WITH THE COROLLA BUT THE TOYOTA CAMRY AND TUNDRA. I CALLED BACK AND CANCELLED THE WORK AND PICKED UP THE CAR THE NEXT MORNING. I ADVISED THE TECH WHAT I FOUND ON GOOGLE BUT HE WAS NOT WILLING TO LISTEN. IT'S NOT ONLY MY FEELING BUT THE OPINION OF THE OTHERS THAT THIS IS SOMETHING TOYOTA NEEDS TO FIX AS A WARRANTY ITEM RECALL. *TT

A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO HER RESIDENCE BEFORE BEING TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE BODY DAMAGE BY AN INSURANCE AGENCY. THE MANUFACTURER SENT AN INVESTIGATOR TO EXAMINE THE VEHICLE BUT WAS ALSO UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 23,000.
2005 TOYOTA COROLLA DRIVER SIDE WINDOW SHATTERED. MY NEIGHBOR WITNESSED THE ENTIRE EVENT HE SAID HE HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION AND SAW THAT THE WINDOW HAD EXPLODED. MY 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AS I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE AT A GROCERY STORE IN JAN. 2011 AND AGAIN WHILE PULLING INTO MY GARAGE ON 4/13/11 THIS TIME DOING A LOT OF DAMAGE IN MY GARAGE. *TR
I OWN A SUNSHINE KIDS RADIAN XTSL WHICH WAS INSTALLED RFING IN OUR 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA USING THE "SUPER LATCH" LATCH STRAP WHICH IS SUPPOSEDLY ABLE TO BE USED UNTIL MY CHILD REACHES 80 LBS (THE MAXIMUM WEIGHT LIMIT OF THE SEAT). DUE TO THE WAY THE BUCKLE ON THE STRAP IS, WHEN MY SON'S FOOT HIT THE BUCKLE PART OF THE LATCH STRAP, IT LOOSENED TO THE POINT I COULD MOVE THE SEAT SEVERAL INCHES AT THE BELT PATH. I REINSTALLED WITH THE SEATBELT TO AVOID THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN, BUT THAT IS KIND OF ANNOYING BEING THAT ONE REASON I BOUGHT THIS SEAT WAS FOR THE "SUPER LATCH" FEATURE. HAVE A 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA S. TOOK VEHICLE IN 12/10 TO REPLACE PART THAT WAS DUE TO RECALL. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON. TOYOTA SAID INTAKE GASKET NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. REPLACED INTAKE GASKET ON 2/26/11. ON 3/3/11, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. TOYOTA SAID THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE COMPUTER OR THE TRANSMISSION AND IT WOULD PROBABLY HAVE TO BE REPLACED. *TR

AFTER REPAIRS, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THE COMPUTER HAD NOT YET ADJUSTED. THE FAILURE PERSISTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE SHE WAS ADVISED THAT THE FUEL TANK TOP WAS NOT SECURED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH THE DIAGNOSIS BECAUSE HE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE AND WAS SURE THAT THE FUEL TOP WAS SECURED CORRECTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 19,600.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING 45 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE ABNORMALLY. ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 76,999 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 76,890.
I AM 76 YEARS OLD. OWN 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA WITH 30K MILES. TOOK MY CAR TO DEALERSHIPFOR ROUTINE SERVICING AND OIL CHANGE. WAS TOLD I HAD BRAKE FLUID CONTAMINATION AND IT WOULD COST $2200. AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE REPAIRED, SHE NOTICED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENTAL PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER AND ADVISED HER THAT SHE NEEDED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 144,800.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE SAME FAILURE CODES WERE PRODUCED BY THE DIAGNOSTIC AND THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD ALSO NEED REPLACING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT A CASE MANAGER WOULD BE IN TOUCH WITH THE CONTACT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000.

THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VEER OFF INTO ANOTHER LANE AND THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE BEGAN TO EXHIBIT SIGNS IF IT WERE GOING TO STALL. ONCE THE ENGINE RECOVERED, THE STEERING WHEEL SHIFTED AND TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK INTO ITS ORIGINAL LANE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A DIAGNOSIS. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 137,000.

IT WAS WINDY ON JANUARY 24, 2011 I WAS ON A HIGHWAY HEADED TO GREAT FALLS,MONTANA WHEN RIGHT OUTSIDE OF HAVRE, MONTANA A SEMI-TRUCK DRIVER HAULING A LOAD DROVE BY ME AND A ROCK HIT MY CAR. I PULLED OVER IN HAVRE, NO ROCK CHIPS ON MY WINDSHIELD OF THE BODY. I OPENED THE HOOD AND ON MY A/C CONDENSER WAS A DENT. I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE OKAY. BUT, SINCE THEN MY CAR LEAKS FLUID IN THE FRONT WHERE THE CONDENSER IS. THERE IS NOTHING PROTECTING THE CONDENSER FROM ANY ROCKS, ETC. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN THE CAR. MY BROTHER IS A MECHANIC AND SAID IT SHOULD BE LOOKED AT BY TOYOTA. I READ ABOUT THE TSB AC002-06. AND AM DEMANDING TOYOTA FIX THE CONDENSER AND FIX THE GAP SO MY CAR WILL BE PROTECTED FROM THIS HAPPENING AGAIN. ALSO, I TOOK MY TOYOTA FOR THE LAST RECALL TO HAVRE, MT I DO NOT WANT TO GO THERE ANYMORE. I HAD A 12:30 P.M. APPOINTMENT INSTEAD THEY TOOK A WOMAN WHO WALKED IN AFTER US IN FIRST. THE OTHER COUNTRY DOES NOT HAVE THE “KNOW HOW” TO FIX WHAT IS STATED IN THE RECALLS (TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL AND A ENGINE CONTROL MODULE RECALL). CAN YOU STOP SENDING SAFETY RECALLS IN USA AND REDIRECT THEM TO THE OTHER COUNTRY? CAN YOU PROVIDE THE “KNOW HOW” TO THE NEW COUNTRY TO FIX THE CAR? BOUGHT A NEW COROLLA IN 2005. FUEL PUMP FAILED AFTER ONLY 39000 MILES. CAUSED THE CAR TO ABRUPTLY STOP RUNNING. FORTUNATELY MY DAUGHTER WAS IN A PARKING LOT. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM IF IT HAD HAPPENED OUT ON THE ROAD. AFTER REPLACING HER KEYS AND ENGINE CONTROL MODULE TO NO AVAIL TOYOTA FINALLY FIGURED OUT IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP CHARGED HER $1067 TO REPLACE IT. THERE IS NO WAY THESE FUEL PUMPS SHOULD BE FAILING THIS PREMATURELY.
