DT: THE CONSUMER STATED THAT 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH AND THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES DID NOT WORK, AND THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP WHILE DRIVING AT 60-65 MPH. THE POINT OF IMPACT WAS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. TOYOTA WAS SUPPOSE TO SEND SOMEONE TO LOOK AT THE CAR. THE DEALERSHIP WAS CALLED ALSO. THE DEALER SAID THAT WOULD CALL THE INSURANCE COMPANY. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN. *AK
THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG IS KNOWN TO BE DEFECTIVE AND TO POTENTIALLY CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH. TOYOTA'S CURRENT REMEDY IS TO INSTRUCT ME TO "NOT DRIVE WITH AN OCCUPANT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT". IF THEY ARE UNABLE TO FIX MY VEHICLE IN A TIMELY FASHION THEY SHOULD BE PROVIDING ME WITH A SAFE ALTERNATIVE TO DRIVE. THIS LANGUAGE CAN NOT BE USED AS JARGON TO WAIVE THEIR RESPONSIBILITY IN CASE OF INJURY. THEIR EXPLICIT FAILURE TO FIX THIS IN A TIMELY MANNER IS UNACCEPTABLE.
I HAVE THE AIR BAG LIGHTS ON ALL THE TIME, THE TIME I TURN ON THE CAR AND DRIVING IT, IT JUST DO NOT GO AWAY ON PARKING EITHER,EVER SINCE I BUY THE CAR THE DEALERS SAID IT WILL GO AWAY AS I DRIVE IT, IT NEVER DID, IT IS NOT STABLE AT ALL EVERY TIME I BRAKE WHILE DRIVING IT GOES FORWARD LIKE IT DID NOT STOP BUT IT DID. IT IS IN SOME WAY UNBALANCE AT EVERY STOP. BUT THEY SAID THIS IS HOW IT IS SINCE I BOUGHT IT. NOW I TRY TO CHECK ON RECALLS AND FOR SOME REASON THIS VIN # DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE VALID OR RECOGNIZABLE BY THE SAFETY DEPT.. WHY? WHY? WHY? THEY DO NOT WANT TO FIX IT? OR WHAT IS GOING ON? *TR
DT: THECONTACT STATED THAT AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE A PROBLEM WITH THE SEATS WASIDENTIFIED. ONE OF THE PROBLEMS IWASTHE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT ADJUSTMENT BAR. THE BAR WILL NOT ANCHOR ON BOTH SIDES AFTER THE SEAT HAS BEEN REPOSITIONED. HAS TO PRESS FOOT DOWN ON THE FLOOR BOARD TO SLIDE THE SEAT BACK INTO POSITION. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, AND SAID THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE SEATS. THE DEALERSHIP CHECKED OTHER MODELS AND FOUND THAT THEY ALL HAVE THIS SAME CONDITION WITH THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
DT: ON 7-19-05 CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. DURING THE ACCIDENT THE SEAT BELT DISCONNECTED, AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED IN THE DOWN POSITION, AND IT KNOCKED THE STEERING WHEEL UPWARD WHILE IT WAS STILL LOCKED. THE CONSUMER SUSTAINED INJURIES, INCLUDING WHIP-LASH, SHAKING, AND A CONCUSSION. THE CONSUMER REFUSED TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN BECAUSE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE, CAUSING IT TO HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. *AK
DRIVER'S SEAT SHIFTS SLIGHTLY AND CREATES KNOCKING WHEN WEIGHT IS APPLIED TO IT OR WHEN TURNING OR STOPPING THE VEHICLE. THE PASSENGER SEAT DOES NOT DO THIS. EXTREMELY ANNOYING. *NM
AS I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, MY TOYOTA COROLLA (2005) SURGED FORWARD AND CAUSED ME TO HIT INTO THE FRONT BUMPER OF ANOTHER PARKED VEHICLE. I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AT THE TIME OF THE SURGE. WITNESSES SAID THAT THEY SAW MY CAR SLOWLY ENTER THE PARKING SPOT THEN SUDDENLY SHOOT FORWARD. TWO WITNESSES SAID THE CAR MADE A STRANGE SOUND SIMILAR TO A MANUAL CAR SHIFING GEARS. MY CAR IS AN AUTOMATIC. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO SAID THAT THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO MY CAR BUT THE OTHER VEHICLE'S BUMPER HAD A SCRATCH.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS THE VEHICLE MAINTAINED THE SAME SPEED WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE PROBLEM PERSISTED AT ANY SPEED THERE AFTER. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED PRIOR THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO OBSERVED NO ABNORMALITIES AFTER A DIAGNOSTIC CHECKUP AND ROAD TEST. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THERE WAS NOT A MECHANISM TO SLOW DOWNS THE SPEED AS THERE USED TO BE IN OLDER MODELS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP FOR A SECOND OPINION WHO DETERMINED THERE WAS A VALVE STUCK OPEN IN THE FUEL SYSTEM AND REPAIR IT. BUT THE PROBLEM WAS PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO REFERRED THE CONTACT TO A DEALERSHIP. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED CONCERN BECAUSE THE ONLY WAY TO REDUCE THE SPEED WAS BY DEPRESSING HARD ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO PREVENT A COLLISION. UPDATED 12/5/2006 - *NM
I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA IN 2005, SINCE THEN I'VE NOTICED THAT IT TAKES A LONG TIME FOR AIR TO HEAT UP IN WINTER OR COOL DOWN IN SUMMER. IT SEEMS TO TAKE ATLEAST 20 MINUTES TO WARM UP BUT IT JUST STAYS MILDLY WARM. IN THE SUMMER IT TAKES ATLEAST 5-10 MINUTES TO BARELY COOL UP BUT IT NEVER GET COLD ENOUGH. *TR
TAKATA RECALL, I GOT A RECALL NOTICE ON MY TOYOTA'S AIRBAG SYSTEM BACK IN MAY OF 2005. IT STATED TO TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY. I CALLED CLEARWATER TOYOTA TO GET AN APPOINTMENT. SAID THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANT PARTS IN STOCK, WILL GET BACK WITH ME. THEY NEVER DID. CALLED AGAIN OCT 2, 2005' THEY TOLD ME THE MGR. WOULD GET IN TOUCH WITH ME. WELL, IT'S NOV. 18 AND NO CALL YET. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE JUNE 2005. AGGRAVATED TO SAY THE LEAST.
ON HOT AND HUMID DAYS, CONDENSATION BUILDS UP INSIDE THE VENTILATION SYSTEM. THIS CAUSES WATER TO POOL (AND REMAIN POOLED) IN THE VENTILATION SYSTEM. AS A RESULT SEVERE MILDEW GROWTH HAS OCCURRED IN VENTILATION SYSTEM. THIS MILDEW CREATES AND AWFUL SEWAGE SMELL, AND IS EXTREMELY IRRITATING TO MY ALLERGIES. DEALER SPRAYED LYSOL DISINFECTANT IN VENTILATION INTAKE. THE PROBLEM CAME BACK A WEEK LATER. TO THIS DAY, I CONTINUALLY MUST SPRAY LYSOL IN THE VENTILATION SYSTEM. MANY TYPES OF MILDEW CAN BE TOXIC TO ANY HUMAN (NOT JUST ALLERGY SUFFERERS), AND ARE *KNOWN* TO CAUSE CANCER, WHICH IS VERY CONCERNING TO ME. TOYOTA'S "OFFICIAL" SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM IS TO KEEP SPRAYING LYSOL IN THE VENTILATION SYSTEM, AND TO OPEN THE WINDOWS WHEN THE [SEWAGE] SMELL BECOMES UNBEARABLE. I PERSONALLY KNOW OTHER 2005 COROLLA OWNERS, AND THEIR COROLLA'S SUFFER FROM THE SAME PROBLEM. *****I CANNOT PROVIDE THE VIN AS I AM AWAY AT MY FIRST YEAR OF COLLEGE, WITHOUT MY CAR, AND DO NOT HAVE DATA MORE SPECIFIC THAN WHAT IS STATED. (1) I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE DRIVING AWAY FROM THE DEALERSHIP I NOTICED AN ODD "HUMMING" NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE SERVICE PERSONNEL INFORMED ME THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE PART WAS NOT IN STOCK, SO THEY ORDERED IT IMMEDIATELY. (2) WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE DAY BEFORE THE SERVICE APPOINTMENT THE CAR STALLED OUT ON ME! AFTER I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START! I HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. (3) THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED.*AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA. SHE EXPERIENCED BRAKE FAILURE SEVERAL TIMES WHEN SHE DROVES OVER A POTHOLE OR A BUMP IN THE ROAD. SHE WAS FORCED TO APPLY EXTREME PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL SINCE THE VEHICLE RESPONDED AS IF IT WERE NOT GOING TO STOP. THE DEALER TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM WAS ACTIVATED AND THAT THERE WAS NO REMEDY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
MY SON WAS DRIVING A NEW (6 MONTHS OLD, WITH LESS THAN 400 MILES) 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA, WHEN HE WAS STRUCK ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE FENDER & WHEEL. WHILE THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED, THE SIDE AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY- RESULTING IN A FRACTURED LEFT CLAVICLE. HE WAS WEARING HIS SEATBELT. *AK
I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET MY AIRBAGS ON MY COROLLA FOR SEVERAL MONTHS, BUT TOYOTA OF SLIDELL DOESN'T MAKE A REPLACEMENT CAR AVAILABLE. THEY KEEP TELLING ME THEY HAVE TO SEE WHAT WILL BE AVAILABLE IN THE MORNING!!! REALLY??? YOU ARE A FREAKING CAR LOT!!
THE BRAKES FAILED, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO A WALL WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK IN A GARAGE. ALSO, POWER STEERING DID NOT WORK DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER, MAKING THE ABILITY TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE DIFFICULT. MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BY CONSUMER.*AK PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT, THE BRAKES LOCKED UP AND SKIDDED IN DRY ROAD CONDITIONS. VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP VEHICLE. WHEN THE POWER STEERING FAILED THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. DEALER FOUND NOTHING WRONG AND NO ADJUSTMENTS WERE MADE. AFTER VEHICLE CAME BACK FROM DEALER'S INSPECTION THERE WAS A GRINDING/SCRETCHING NOISE. CONSUMER HAD TO TAKE VEHICLE BACK TO DEALER AND FOUND THAT THE BACKING PLATE BEHIND THE ROTORS WAS BENT. BACKING PLATE WAS BEND BACK INTO PLACE. CONSUMER FELT GRINDING NOISE WAS NOT A RESULT OF ACCIDENT AND/OR DAMAGES OCCURED TO VEHICLE. *TT
RPM'S INCREASE WHEN MY FOOT IS ON THE BRAKE AND THE FORCE OF THE RPM INCREASE DECOMPRESSES THE BRAKE PEDAL AND MY FOOT SLIPS OF THE BRAKE PEDAL. I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS BUT IT WORRIES ME THAT IT MAY. THIS HAPPENS ON A DAILY BASIS. I HEARD THIS MAY BE NORMAL BUT NOW READING THAT OTHER PEOPLE EXPERIENCED THIS, I PLAN TO GET IT CHECKED. ASIDE FROM THIS, THERE IS DASH BOARD RATTLING, SEAL ISSUE WITH WINDOWS BECAUSE THEY WHISTLE AND ALSO PAINT FLAKES OFF FROM A SMALL DING. *NM
I HAVE WHAT WOULD SEEM LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE. THE A/C CONDENSER ON MY 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA FAILED, AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE TOYOTA HAS ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN INDICATING THAT THE A/C CONDENSER IS NOT PROPERLY PROTECTED THE NUMBER FOR THIS REPORT IS AC002-06. I LIVE IN SOUTH TEXAS AND THIS ISSUE IS A KNOW PROBLEM BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. *TR
PURCHASED 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA IN AUGUST 2004. THE CAR HAS HAD A CONSISTENT SMELL OF ROTTEN EGGS (SULFUR), ALMOST DAILY WITH IT WORSE WHEN THE CAR IDLES & AFTER CAR SHUTOFF. DEALER SAID TRY PREMIUM GAS, WHICH I DID AND NO EFFECT. DEALER SAID TOYOTA HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OR SUGGESTIONS ABOUT PROBLEM, ALTHOUGH I AM AWARE OF A 5/28/04 SERVICE BULLETIN FOR 2003-2004 COROLLA'S FOR THE EXACT PROBLEM. DEALER ALSO SAID IT COULD NOT BE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER BECAUSE THE DASHBOARD LIGHT WASN'T ON, YET TOYOTA JUST SETTLED A 2 MILLION LAW SUIT FOR THE DASH LIGHTS NOT COMING ON AND EMISSION DEFECTS WERE NOT BEING PICKED UP WITH REGULAR CODE TESTING. DEALER MENTIONED A NUMBER OF OTHER PERSONS BROUGHT THEIR CAR IN LATELY FOR SAME THING BUT SUGGESTED IT WAS RELATED TO OUR CURRENT COLD WEATHER. WHEN I MENTIONED THE PROBLEM WITH MY CAR HAS PERSISTED SINCE LATE AUGUST, A WEEK AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR, THE DEALER SUGGESTED THE SMELL WAS FROM BAD GAS & THE WIND PROBABLY BLEW IT INTO THE CAR. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT THIS SMELL HAS BEEN A VERY SIGNIFICANT PROBLEM WITH COROLLA'S (& SOME OTHER CARS) AND A NUMBER OF 2005 OWNERS ON VARIOUS DISCUSSION BOARDS HAVE ALSO REPORTED IT. SOMETIMES, THE SMELL IS SO STRONG THAT I HAVE TO PUT THE WINDOW DOWN & I WONDER WHAT THE CONSTANT EXPOSURE TO SULFUS WILL DO TO MY ALLERGIES AND ASTHMA AND WHY I SHOULD CONTINUE TO POLLUTE THE AIR WITH SULFUR EVERYDAY WHILE TOYOTA 'S DEALERS TREAT ME AS IF I AM SOME NEUROTIC PATRON. *NM
WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO A BUILDING. THE CONSUMER'S FOOT WAS RESTED FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. *SC THE CONSUMER AND PASSENGER WERE INJURED. *JB
THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE SMELLED OF SULFUR, THAT WAS SICKENING TO THE CONSUMER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE SULFUR CONTENT WAS COMMON IN THESE VEHICLES, HOWEVER, THE STATE LAW DIFFERS. *JB
DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS, DRL PROBLEM. I AM OFTEN REQUIRED TO DRIVE WITH LIGHTS OFF ON PROPERTY AS AN ASTRONOMER AT NIGHTTIME. MY 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA LIGHTS ARE ALWAYS ON EVEN WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE IN THE OFF POSITION. IF STALKED OR MY GIRLFRIEND DRIVES THE CAR WE COULD NOT TURN THEM OFF AND DRIVE AWAY AND ESCAPE ALIVE. THIS IS A HAZARD THAT CAN CAUSE DEATH OR RAPE FROM STALKERS OR ROBBERS. I OFTEN AM ALONE AT NIGHT IN DARK DESERTED AREAS AND NEED TO BE ABLE TO TURN LIGHT OFF OR ON AS NEEDED. I COULD NOT GET ON THE OBSERVATORY PROPERTY DUE TO THIS DEFECT. *JB
VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP WHILE TRAVELING AT 20 MPH. CONSUMER PLACED HER FOOT ONTO THE BRAKES TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND IT ACCELERATED. CONSUMER CONTACTED MANUFACTURER, AND THEY HAD NOT RESPONSE.*AK
THE REMOTE FAILED TO WORK WHILE PRESSED TO ROLL UP AND DOWN THE WINDOWS. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, BUT MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT HAS A 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE BRAKES MADE A LOUD SQUEAKING NOISE WHENEVER THEY WERE ENGAGED. THE BRAKES PADS HAD TO BE REPLACED EVERY 10 MONTHS. THE TIRES ALSO HAVE TO BE REPLACED EVERY 2 YEARS EVEN THOUGH THE CONTACT HAS HAD SEVERAL ALIGNMENTS. THE FIRST TIME THE TIRES AND BRAKES WERE REPLACED, THE MILEAGE WAS 12000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 42999.
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED THE VEHICLE WOULD MOMENTARILY LOSE POWER/ HESITATE, AND THEN ACCELERATE AGAIN. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER ON FIVE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE DEALER COULD DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, BUT WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. *JB. *AK
I WAS DRIVING BETWEEN 30 AND 35 MPH ON A BACK PAVED ROAD WHEN A BUCK RAN OUT IN FRONT OF MY VEHICLE. I PUSHED MY BRAKES ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T STOP. I PUSHED THEM AGAIN AND THE CAR STILL WOULDN'T STOP. I ENDED UP HITTING A DITCH AND ROLLING MY CAR ON ITS SIDE. THE MECHANIC COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM WITH THE ABS. I HAD 2 GOODYEAR TIRES (THE CAR HAD LESS THAN 2500 MILES) THAT BLEW OUT. AIRBAGS DEFLATED UPON IMPACT. *JB
1. NOISE FROM THE FRONT DISH PANEL/INSTRUMENT PANEL. THIS NOISE IS NOT ALWAYS HAPPENING BUT IS EASY TO DUPLICATE. THE DEALER REJECTS TO REPAIR IT. TOYOTA REP SAID IT IS THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE VEHICLE (THE VIBRATION NOISE IS THE STANDARD OF TOYOTA???). 2. WINDOW VIBRATION ESPECIALLY WHEN THE WINDOW IS 3/4 DOWN. HAVE BEEN TO DEALER FOR 9 TIMES (3 TIMES FOR THE SAME SEAT NOISE PROBLEMS), THEY SAID "NOTHING WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE.*AK

CAR SKIDDED WHEN BRAKES APPLIED WHILE STEERING ONTO AN EXIT RAMP (TO THE RIGHT). DRY PAVEMENT - SUNNY AFTERNOON. IT FELT LIKE THE BRAKES LOCKED-- CAR SUPPOSEDLY HAS ABS. LUCKILY, THE CAR HIT CURB ONLY. NO VISIBLE DAMAGE TO CAR.*AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STARTED THE VEHICLE WITH THE GEAR SHIFT PLACED IN THE "DRIVE" POSITION AND SUDDENLY THERE WAS AN AGGRESSIVE ACCELERATION. THE DRIVER APPLIED EXCESSIVE FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN. IN ADDITION, WHENEVER IN THE "REVERSE" POSITION THE FAILURE WAS MORE PRONOUNCED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED FAILURE WHILE IN THE REVERSE AND REAR ENDED A TREE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE MANUFACTURERS DESIGN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10. THE CONSUMER STATED HE PLACED THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LURCHED FORWARD. TAKATA RECALL. IN REGARDS TO MY RECALL AIRBAG REPAIR, WHY IS IT THAT MY 2004 TOYOTA COROLLA ALREADY HAD THE REPAIR PERFORMED? SEEMS I GET A DIFFERENT ANSWER EVERYTIME I ASK THAT QUESTION. NOW MY 2005 COROLLA MATRIX WHICH IS CURRENTLY 11 YEARS OLD IS FINALLY HAVING THIS REPAIR PERFORMED. AND TOYOTA'S RECOMMENDATION IS THAT I DO NOT OPERATE THE VEHICLE WITH AN OCCUPANT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. WHAT ABOUT THE PREVIOUS 11 YEARS THAT RODE IN THAT SEAT WITH THE SAME DEFECT? IF TOYOTA TRULY CARED ABOUT MY SAFETY, THEY SHOULD HAVE MADE THAT SUGGESTION WHEN THEY FIRST KNEW OF IT. BUT THEY PROBABLY WOULDN'T HAVE SOLD VERY MANY 4 PASSENGER COROLLAS SET-UP WITH 3 PEOPLE IN THE BACK SEAT AND ONLY THE DRIVER SITTING IN FRONT. HECK, TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS THEY SHOULD HAVE REMOVED THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT OR REMOVED THE BACK OF THAT SEAT ALONG WITH THE SEAT-BELT TO GUARANTEE NOBODY RIDES IN THAT SEAT. BUT NONE OF THOSE THINGS HAPPENED SIMPLY BECAUSE TRUTH BE TOLD, IT ONLY BECAME A SAFETY ISSUE ONCE TOYOTA HAD TO COME TO TERMS WITH THE DEFECT; THEIR BEHAVIOR IS SIMPLY UNACCEPTABLE. A SINCERE APOLOGY WOULD STATE "FOR ANY INCONVENIENCES THIS HAS CAUSED." INSTEAD OF "WE SINCERELY APOLOGIZE FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE THIS WILL CAUSE, BUT WE ARE TAKING THIS ACTION TO ENSURE YOUR SAFETY." CAUGHT IN THEIR OWN LIE IS WHAT REALLY OCCURRED AGAIN IF THEY TRULY CARED WE WOULD HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM ASAP.....THE PEOPLE I FEEL THE MOST PAIN FOR ARE THOSE UNFORTUNATE PEOPLE WHO GOT INTO A FRONT CAR ACCIDENT AND DID EVERYTHING RIGHT, BUT THEIR AIRBAG, THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO SAVE THEIR LIFE, WOUND UP EITHER INJURING THEM OR NOT DOING ITS INTENDED JOB ALL WHILE TOYOTA KNEW OF THE PROBLEM. I HOPE NOBODY LOST THEIR LIFE DUE TO THIS BECAUSE NO AMOUNT OF MONEY CAN EVER BRING BACK THAT PERSON. JUST SO UN-JAPANESE BEHAVIOR BY A JAPANESE COMPANY, SHAME TOYOTA MOTORS. *TR
THE CAR SUDDENLY SPED UP TO 30 MILES AN HOUR WITHOUT APPLYING THE GAS. *TR
2005 TOYOTA COROLLA PASSENGER SENSOR IS OVERLY SENSITIVE. WHEN SEAT IS TOUCHED RINGERS GO OFF. *TS WHEN ANY OBJECT IS PLACED IN THE SEAT THE RINGER SOUNDS. WHENEVER A BACK SEAT PASSENGER TOUCHED THE PASSENGER SEAT THE RINGER WOULD SOUND. THE RINGER ALSO SOUNDED OCCASIONALLY FOR NO REASON AT ALL. THE CONSUMER SPOKE TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE SENSOR WAS WORKING TO THE SPECIFICATIONS OF THE VEHICLE. *NM
CUSTOMER STATES THAT THE CAR DOES NOT SLOW DOWN WHEN FOOT IS REMOVED FROM THE PEDAL**NAR**CC THE CONSUMER STATED IN ORDER TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN, THE BRAKES MUST BE APPLIED. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED THAT WAY. *JB
S10 APPROPRIATE HANDLING RE SUDDEN UNATTENDED ACCELERATION FM OWNER OF A 2005 TOYOTA COROLLA. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED A FRIEND OF THE FAMILY WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE, WHEN IT SUDDENLY ACCELERATED OUT OF CONTROL AND ROLLED INTO A DITCH, WHERE IT FINALLY CAME TO A STOP. THE SECOND INCIDENT WAS IN DEC 2009, WHEN THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE SHE HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY ACCELERATE WHEN THE SPEED WAS ABOVE 50 MPH OR IN OVERDRIVE.
2005 TOYOTA COROLLA. CONSUMER STATES ISSUES WITH AIR FILTER. *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL AT TIMES. THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER HE REPLACED THE AIR FILTER HE DIDN'T EXPERIENCE ANY MORE PROBLEMS. *JB

CONSUMER WOULD LIKE TO REPORT A SIGNIFICANT DEFECT WITH VEHICLE *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO INSPECT AN UNDERCARRIAGE RATTLE THAT STARTED ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO. THE DEALER FOUND THE GAS TANK LOWER BRACKET HAD RUSTED OUT AND STATED THE VEHICLE WAS DANGEROUS WAS DRIVE. *JB
