2006 COROLLA LE ENGINE COMPUTER MODULE DIED WITHOUT NOTICE ON JULY 18, 2009. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS COMPUTER DIEING ON THE SPOT WITHOUT NOTICE. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL SINCE THIS IS DANGEROUS IF YOU ARE ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT DIES WITHOUT NOTICE. DOES THERE NEED TO BE A DEATH INVOLVED OR CAN YOU GUYS HAVE A RECALL BEFORE IT HAPPENS. YOU NEED TO GO ON TOYOTA NATION AND SEE ALL THE COMPLAINTS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON SURFACE STREETS AT APPROX 35 MPH. THE ENGINE IN MY 2006 COROLLA JUST TOPPED. I DESCRIBED IT AS "POWERED DOWN." I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I TURNED IT OFF, WAITED A SECOND, THEN TURNED IT BACK ON. THE CAR STARTED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON. I DROVE STRAIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE COMPUTER AND THE WHOLE THING WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THE MATTER WAS HANDLED ON ONE DAY FROM INCIDENT TO NEW COMPUTER. IT HA NOT HAPPENED AGAIN. *TR
I WAS CHANGING LANES FROM THE LEFT HAND LANE TO THE RIGHT HAND LANE IN A 2006 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE VEHICAL ACCELERATED SUDDENLY LEFT THE ROAD WENT THROUGH THE CABLE BARRIER AND OVER TURNED IN OPPOSING LANES. I WAS KNOCKED UNCONCIOUS. THIS HAPPENED AT 6:00 ON 7/15/2009 ON I 10 IN BORNE, TX. *CN
GOING 45 MPH, CAR SUDDENLY CUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING, WOULD NOT RESTART. HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. WAS TOLD THAT THE ECM FAILED AND THE PART HAD TO BE ORDERED. I PURCHASED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW, SO THIS IS COVERED. IN SPEAKING WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AT DEALERSHIP, HE INDICATED THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THIS PART BECAUSE IT WASN'T A SAFETY ISSUE! IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE! I WAS LUCKY THERE WAS VERY LITTLE TRAFFIC AT THE TIME MY CAR DIED OR I MAY HAVE BEEN REARENDED. I'M JUST LUCKY IT DIDN'T HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL INTERMITTENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO WAIT 20-30 MINUTES BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD RESTART. THE MADE SEVERAL REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE AND REPLACED SEVERAL PARTS BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE FAILURE PERSISTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE COMPUTER WA REPROGRAMMED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE DRIVING 19 MPH, THE VEHICLE DROVE OVER A PUDDLE OF OIL ON THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE STRUCK A STREET SIGN AND THE GUARDRAIL RIPPED THE FRONT FENDER OFF OF THE VEHICLE. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED, BUT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST. THE CONTACT FEELS THAT THE VEHICLE IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE BECAUSE THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. 2006 TOYOTA COROLLA SHUTS OFF AND ALSO SOMETIMES RPM DROPS REALLY LOW. IT HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE. I FINALLY TOOK IT TO TOYOTA ON 11/30/09 AND THEY REPLACED THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. OLD PART IS NOT AVAILABLE. CAR DOES NOT SHUT OFF ANYMORE BUT RPM STILL DROPS REALLY LOW TO THE POINT THAT IT ALMOST SHUTS OFF. IS TOYOTA GOING TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM? *TR
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AT 8 AM IN THE MORNING AND NOTICED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER STARTED PUMPING OUT HOT AIR. SINCE THAT TIME MY A/C HAS BEEN DEAD. THE VEHICLE IS A 2006 TOYOTA COROLLA LE WITH 43,000 MILES. *TR
2006 TOYOTA COROLLA WITH APPROX. 36,125 MILES STARTS BUT SOON STALLS WITHIN A TIME SPAN OF 15 SECONDS TO 5 MINUTES. EFFORTS TO RESTART THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY FAIL POSING A SAFETY RISK IF THE VEHICLE IS IN TRAFFIC (WHICH OURS WAS). AFTER WAITING APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES, THE VEHICLE IS ABLE TO RESTART BUT STALLS AGAIN WITHIN THE SAME TIME SPAN OF 15 SECONDS TO 5 MINUTES. THE BATTERY IS WORKING AS EVIDENCED BY INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS. GAS IS AT OR ABOVE 3/4 TANK FULL. CAR RECENTLY PASSED (APRIL 2009) PENNSYLVANIA STANDARDS FOR EMISSIONS AND INSPECTION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA COROLLA CE. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 50 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO PULL ABNORMALLY TO THE LEFT AND THE CONTACT WAS CONSTANTLY ATTEMPTING TO STRAIGHTEN THE WHEELS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR TIRES WERE WEARING PREMATURELY. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE REAR SUSPENSION WAS OUT OF ALIGNMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED AN ALIGNMENT INSPECTION AND ADVISED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE DEFECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000.
AIR CONDITIONER WORKS ONLY 1/4TH OF THE TIME. IT BLOWS COLD AND THEN CONTINUES TO BLOW BUT CHANGES TO BLOWING HOT AIR. THIS IS VERY PROBLEMATIC WITH THE HEAT CONDITIONS OF SUMMER WITH SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR. WE ARE LOOKING AT COSTLY REPAIRS DUE TO FAULTY EQUIPMENT FROM THE MANUFACTURER. *TR
MY 2006 COROLLA WITH 40K DECIDED TO TURN ITSELF OFF WHILE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY WITH OUR DAUGHTER IN THE CAR. WE TRIED TO MAKE OUR WAY TO THE SHOULDER ON I81S TO RETURN HOME AND WERE ALMOST PROMPTED INTO AN ACCIDENT AS A TRACTOR TRAILER NEARLY REAR-ENDED US. WE HAD IT TOWED TO GAULT TOYOTA IN ENDWELL, NY, AND THE SERVICE CENTER MENTIONED THAT FOR OUR CAR THIS PART WOULD NOT QUALIFY FOR UNDER WARRANTY COVERAGE. (WE BOUGHT THE CAR USED FROM A PRIVATE OWNER) PLEASE HELP US TO HELP AVOID A POSSIBLE DISASTER FOR ANOTHER FAMILY. THE EXPERIENCE WAS SOMEWHAT TRAUMATIC BY EXPERIENCING AN UNEXPECTED ENGINE FAILURE IN TRAFFIC AND TRYING TO THINK IN A CRISIS ENVIRONMENT TO TRY TO WEAVE FROM THE LEFT LANE TO THE RIGHT OF THE DRIVING LANE IN A DECENT AMOUNT OF TRAFFIC. THEY REPORTED ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT FAILURE WAS THE CAUSE. CAR STILL UNDER WARRANTY. DEALER REPORTED PART ON BACKORDER. RESULTED IN TOW CHARGE AND CAR RENTAL EXPENSE. 2006 TOYOTA COROLLA AIR CONDITIONING CONDENSER WENT OUT. TOYOTA CREATED A MODIFICATION TO THE 2007-2009 MODELS BUT WON'T OFFER A RECALL ON 2006! *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 10-15 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED AN ERRATIC HARD SHIFT DURING ACCELERATION. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND REMAINED LIT UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION AND THE FAILURE WAS LABELED AS THE PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID. THE COMPONENT WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER PERFORMED DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND THEY RECOMMENDED THAT THE ENGINE COMPUTERIZED SYSTEM BE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED DUE TO THE MASSIVE NATIONAL BACK ORDER FOR THE PART. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,500 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,029.

THE VEHICLE WILL BE TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 106,000.

STEEL WHEELS BEGAN RUSTING. AFTER HAGGLING, DEALER REMOVED WHEELS AND TIRES AND REPAINTED THE WHEELS AND MOUNTED THE TIRES. THIS WAS IN APRIL 2009, MILEAGE 17,500. *TR
THE ENGINE LIGHT WON'T GO OUT THERE IS A ERROR READING OF P0031 ON THE O2 SENSOR BEEN REPLACE 7 TO 10 TIMES AND THE LIGHT STILL STAYS ON EVEN RESETTING.I HAVE PROBLEMS YEAR AFTER YEAR WITH MY BRAKES OVER ALL I LOST TOTAL TRUST IN TOYOTA COROLLA PLUS A LOT MORE PROBLEMS TOYOTA TAKES FOREVER TO SEND OUT THE RECALL LETTERS. I HAVE 8 RECALLS BUT WHEN YOU GO LOOK IT UP ITS STATES NO RECALLS WELL THIS IS WHY I LOST TRUST TOYOTA DOESN'T CARE THEY USE TO BE THE BEST CAR EVER NOT ANYMORE.
I BELIEVE TOYOTA FAILED TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM IN A REASONABLE LENGTH OF TIME, I'M NOT TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE WITH MY WIFE IN THE BACK SEAT.
TOYOTA HAS ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN INDICATING THAT THE A/C CONDENSER IS NOT PROPERLY PROTECTED THE NUMBER FOR THIS REPORT IS AC002-06. ADDITIONALLY, THE TOYOTA HAS REDESIGNED THE COROLLA TO CORRECT THIS IN 2007 BY PROPERLY PROTECTING THE A/C CONDENSER LEAVING THE 2005-2006 CUSTOMERS IN THE DUST. THIS PROBLEM APPEARS TO OCCUR JUST OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY. I DISCOVERED MY CONDENSER WAS NOT WORKING (CAUSING NO AIR CONDITIONING) 16 DAYS AFTER MY WARRANTY EXPIRED. I NOW LIVE IN THE SOUTHWEST AND THE TYPE OF HEAT EXPERIENCED AND LACK OF AC COULD BE CONSIDERED A HEALTH HAZARD. TOYOTA REFUSES TO REPLACE THE CONDENSER AND WANTS TO CHARGE CUSTOMERS THE FULL $600 FOR REPLACEMENT. *TR
2006 TOYOTA COROLLA, GAS PEDAL FAILED TO ACCELERATE ENGINE AT CRITICAL TIME WHEN CROSSING HIGHWAY FROM SHOPPING STRIP. CAR WAS STOPPED BLOCKING TRAFFIC NARROWLY ESCAPING A COLLISION AND I HAD TO PUSH THE CAR OFF THE HIGHWAY BY HAND. VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY WITH 47618 MILES. TOYOTA REPAIRED THE VEHICLE FREE OF CHARGE. THEY REPLACED THE COMPUTER ENGINE CONTROLLER. *TR
2006 COROLLA STALLED IN MORNING RUSH-HOUR TRAFFIC. THERE WAS NO WARNING, ALL POWER WAS LOST. I WAS ABLE TO MERGE TO SIDE OF ROAD & EVENTUALLY GOT THE CAR STARTED AGAIN. I DROVE TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP & THEY REPLACED THE ECM; THEY SAID THERE WAS A SERVICE BULLETIN ON IT, BUT NOT A RECALL. (BULLETIN # EG042-07) HAVE NOT HAD ANY OTHER PROBLEMS SINCE NEW ECM (#89661-02K21) WAS INSTALLED. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 AND A 2010 TOYOTA COROLLA. BOTH OF THEM HAVE SIMILAR HANDLING ISSUES, SPECIFICALLY A TENDENCY TO UNPREDICTABLY DART TO THE RIGHT OR THE LEFT. IN OTHER WORDS, IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO KEEP THE VEHICLE DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE (YES, EVEN ON STRAIGHT ROADS!). I HAVE HAD THE ALIGNMENT CHECKED ON BOTH CARS, AND REPLACED TIRES. NEITHER OF THESE ACTIONS HAS HAD A POSITIVE IMPACT ON THE HANDLING. THIS IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS ON WET, SNOWY OR SLICK ROADS. BACK IN OCTOBER, 2009, A TOYOTA TECHNICIAN CHECKED OUT MY 2010 COROLLA, AND TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS A HANDLING CHARACTERISTIC OF COROLLAS. HE SAID THAT TOYOTA WANTED TO MAKE THE CAR HANDLE QUICKER, SO THEY SET THE CAMBER (OR CASTER--I FORGET WHICH) AT THE FACTORY SO THAT IT HANDLES QUICKER IN TURNS BUT IT ALSO IS NOT AS STABLE WHEN DRIVING STRAIGHT. ACCORDING TO THE TECHNICIAN, IT CAN'T BE ADJUSTED. I'M GOING TO GET RID OF THE 2006 COROLLA SHORTLY BECAUSE I THINK IT'S A DEATH TRAP AND I DON'T WANT MY FAMILY IN IT. IN SLICK ROADS IT HAS GOTTEN OUT OF CONTROL TWICE. LEST YOU THINK I'M NUTS, I'VE DRIVEN FRONT WHEEL CARS SINCE 1975 AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS KIND OF AN ISSUE UNTIL I GOT THESE CARS. SO DON'T TELL ME IT'S BECAUSE THEY'RE LIGHT CARS--THAT'S BALONEY! I'VE HAD OTHER LIGHT CARS THAT DIDN'T ACT LIKE THESE DO. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE HEAD ON. THE CONTACT'S HEAD STRUCK THE STEERING WHEEL AND HE SUSTAINED INJURIES. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN FROM THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO EXPERIENCED A FAILURE WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DECELERATE AND SUDDENLY STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE PERSISTED AFTER THE REPAIR. THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED THREE TIMES BEFORE THE FAILURE WAS CORRECTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.

2006 TOYOTA COROLLA "S" / 52760 MILES I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND APPROACHING A RED STOP LIGHT, I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND WAS NEARLY AT A COMPLETE STOP (COULD NOT HAVE BEEN GOING MORE THAN 2-3MPH). ALL OF A SUDDEN WITHOUT WARNING, THE ENGINE SURGED AND THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD--DESPITE THE FACT THAT I THE BRAKES WERE BEING PRESSED. I IMMEDIATELY PRESSED HARDER ON THE BRAKES AND GOT NO REACTION, SO I JAMMED BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AS HARD AS I COULD, THE WHEELS LOCKED AND I SKID APPROXIMATELY 10 FEET! I HAD TO STEER OUT OF THE WAY OF REAR-ENDING THE STOPPED CAR AHEAD OF ME. ALL OF THIS HAPPENED IN ABOUT A THREE SECOND TIME FRAME. IT WAS LITERALLY A MIRACLE THAT I DID NOT RAM INTO THE CAR AHEAD OF ME. ONCE THE CAR CAME TO A STOP, EVERYTHING SEEMED NORMAL AGAIN, AND THE CAR DROVE FINE AS IF NOTHING EVER HAPPENED. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND SOLE DRIVER OF THIS CAR AND HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED ANYTHING LIKE THIS. IT WAS AS IF SOME OUTSIDE FORCE HAD CONTROL OVER THE CAR AND I COULD NOT STOP IT. THE RECEIPT INDICATED THAT MY CAR'S ECM WAS REPLACED WITH A DIFFERENT ECM, I ASSUME A MORE RELIABLE ONE. I KNOW FROM A CO-WORKER THAT THIS IS A COMMON DEFECT. WHEN I DRIVE MY CAR IT FEELS LIKE THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION WHEN THIS STARTED HAPPENING THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, SO I TOOK THE CARE IN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ARE TELLING ME IT'S A COMPUTER PROBLEM THAT AFFECTS THE TRANSMISSION AND THAT I NEED A NEW COMPUTER. *TR
THE FOLLOWING DESCRIPTION IS FROM A NARRATIVE WRITTEN WITHIN 3 HOURS AFTER THE ACCIDENT. AROUND 5:30PM ON 12/10/2008 I WAS DRIVING HOME AROUND 2-3 MILES PER HOUR DUE TO TRAFFIC CONGESTION. THE SKY WAS DARK AND IT WAS LIGHTLY RAINING. THE TEMPERATURE WAS AROUND 60-65 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT, SO ICE WAS NOT PRESENT ON THE ROAD. THE LARGE SEMI TRUCK DIRECTLY AHEAD OF ME SLOWED DOWN TO A STOP, SO I ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE. MY BRAKES DID NOT SEEM TO HAVE AN EFFECT, SO I PUSHED ON THE BRAKES HARDER. THE BRAKES STILL HAD NO EFFECT. I IMMEDIATELY SHIFTED THE CAR INTO THE 'PARK' GEAR AND APPLIED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. NEITHER THE SHIFTING THE GEARS NOR THE EMERGENCY BRAKE HAD ANY EFFECT ON THE CAR'S MOTION, MY CAR KEPT MOVING FORWARD. I EVENTUALLY STOPPED WHEN I SMASHED INTO THE BACK OF THE TRUCK, WHICH CAUSED ABOUT $5K OF FRONT END DAMAGE FOR MY CAR AND NO APPARENT DAMAGE TO THE TRUCK. THE TIME BETWEEN WHEN I NOTICED THE CAR WAS NOT STOPPING TO WHEN MY CAR HIT THE TRUCK WAS AROUND 2-3 SECONDS. AFTER THINKING ABOUT THESE EVENTS AFTERWARD, I DIDN'T REMEMBER HEARING THE TRANSMISSION GRIND DUE TO THE FACT THE CAR WAS IN THE 'PARK', BUT CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD. AFTER THE COLLISION, THE TRUCK AHEAD OF ME LEFT AS IF NOTHING HAD HAPPENED. MY CAR STAYED STATIONARY NOW THAT ITS MOMENTUM WAS LOST. I SHIFTED THE CAR BACK INTO 'DRIVE' AND SLOWLY DROVE HOME (AROUND 20-25 MPH). THE BRAKES WORKED LIKE NORMAL AND I DIDN'T HEAR ANY NOISE WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP ON 01/10/2009. THE MECHANIC INSPECTED THE CAR AND FOUND THE BRAKES WERE IN 'NORMAL WORKING CONDITION'. THE MECHANIC HYPOTHESIZED THAT THE CAUSE FOR THE BRAKE FAILURE WAS EITHER THE BRAKE FLUID OVERHEATED OR DRIVER ERROR. HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT EITHER HYPOTHESIS. NO REPAIR WAS RECOMMENDED AND NO PARTS WERE REPLACED. I AM CONFIDENT I DEPRESSED THE BRAKES AND NOT THE ACCELERATOR, SO I SUSPECT THERE MIGHT BE SOME OTHER PROBLEM WITH MY BRAKES. THE BRAKES HAVE NOT FAILED SINCE THIS INCIDENT. *TR
MY CAR STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING , I PULLED OVER WHILE COASTING. I TURNED THE KEY AFTER STOPPING & IT STARTED BACK UP AND I STARTED DRIVING AGAIN AND IT STALLED IN THE MIDDLE AGAIN. AGAIN IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE ACCORDING TO A FEW DEALERS I TALKED AS THE PART THAT IS NEEDED TO REPLACE IS BACKORDERED AS TOYOTA IS REDESIGNING IT. AGAIN NO RECALL FROM TOYOTA YET. WHILE DRIVING ON THE NE EXTENSION ON MY WAY TO MY SISTERS HOUSE, MY STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SHAKY AND PULL TO THE LEFT. MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE TOYOTA 2006 COROLLA WHEN THE WINDOWS STOP WORKING, THEN THE LIGHTS BEGIN STOP WORKING SO SHE PARKED THE CAR. THE CAR WOULD NOT START UP AGAIN SO SHE WAS ABLE TO GET SOMEONE WITH JUMPER CABLES TO START THE CAR. SHE CONTACTED PERFORMANCE TOYOTA WHO INSTRUCTED HER TO BRING THE CAR TO TOYOTA. THEY INFORMED US THAT THE CAR COMPUTER'S ECU UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THEY REPLACED THE ECU WITH NO CHARGE SINCE THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY. HOWEVER, THEY CHARGED ME $257.99 FOR A WIRE THAT HAD SHORTENED BEHIND THE DASH CAUSING THE FUSES TO BLOW. I BELIEVE THAT IT WAS DUE TO THE COMPUTER FAILURE BUT THEY DISAGREED. THEN ON JUNE 20, 2012 WHILE THE CAR WAS BEING REPAIRED BY PERFORMANCE COLLISION BODY SHOP THEY CONTACTED ME TO INFORM ME THAT THE CAR WOULDN'T START. I TOWED IT TO PERFORMANCE TOYOTA AND THEY INFORM ME THAT THE ECU COMPUTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I WILL SUBMIT A NEW COMPLAINT FOR THIS INCIDENT. *JS

LACKING EVIDENCE TO THE CONTRARY, WE HAD NO WAY TO QUESTION THE POLICE'S REPORT; HOWEVER, IN MY MOTHER'S RECOUNTING THE EXPERIENCE, IT DIDN'T SEEM TO MAKE ANY SENSE. THEN, AS WE HAVE SEEN OTHERS RECENTLY RECOUNTING SIMILAR EXPERIENCES AND WATCHING VIDEOS ACCELERATION PROBLEMS WITH TOYOTA VEHICLES, WE REALIZED THAT THIS SEEMED TO BE EXACTLY WHAT OUR MOTHER EXPERIENCED. FURTHERMORE, BOTH MY SISTER AND MY NIECE BOTH RECENTLY DROVE MY MOTHER'S CAR ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND BOTH EXPERIENCED SUDDEN RAPID ACCELERATION WHILE DRIVING WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED. THE PROBLEM THEY EXPERIENCED WAS SO UNSETTLING, THAT THEY WARNED MY MOTHER TO KEEP THE CRUISE CONTROL TURNED OFF. THESE EXPERIENCES COMBINED WITH REPORTS THAT PROBLEMS WITH EARLIER MODELS OF TOYOTA VEHICLES THAN THE 2009-2010 RECALLED MODELS LED US TO BELIEVE THAT OUR MOTHER'S ACCIDENT WAS CAUSED BY THIS SUDDEN ACCELERATION PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN UNCOVERED WITH TOYOTA VEHICLES. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 TOYOTA COROLLA CE, IT'S AUTOMATIC WITH THE DRIVE SHIFT IN THE CENTER CONSOLE. SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE I NOTICED IF THE SHIFT IS BARELY BUMPED IT KNOCKS THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. I HAVE A 17 YEAR OLD SON THAT WILL BE DRIVING SOON, I DON'T FEEL SAFE WITH HIM DRIVING BECAUSE OF THE POTENTIAL OF EITHER CAUSING A ACCIDENT, OR BREAKING DOWN, OR RUINING THE CAR ALL TOGETHER. THE DEALERSHIP SHRUGGED THEIR SHOULDERS AND SAID IT DIDN'T HAPPEN TO THEM IN A TEST DRIVE AROUND THE PARKING LOT. AND ALL MODELS OF CARS HAVE THE CAPABILITY TO BE MOVED INTO NEUTRAL WHEN BUMPED, AND WITH OUT PUSHING THE BUTTON ON THE SHIFT. *TR
