FROM WHEN NEW THE CAR WANDERS AND DRIFTS WHEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. HAVE TRIED TO GET DEALERS TO FIX WITH NO SUCCESS. WENT TO LEMON LAW ARBITRATION WITH TOYOTA BUT WAS DECLINED. DEALER WILL ONLY GIVE ABOUT $7 -$8 THOUSAND FOR TRADE, THE CAR ONLY HAS 7,600 MILES ON IT. THREE OR FOUR WEEKS AGO WAS MAKING A HARD RIGHT TURN WHEN LOST STEERING CONTROL AND RAN OFF THE ROAD AND DID SOME VEHICLE DAMAGE. PROBLEM WITH ELECTRONIC STEERING SYSTEM ON 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA WHEN DRIVING WITH HIGH SPEED (60-80 MPH). THE CAR ROCKS FROM LEFT AND RIGHT AND IS HARD TO KEEP IT GOING STRAIGHT. TOOK THE CAR TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. *TR

THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE IN FOR INSPECTION. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 20,000.

UNSTABLE STEERING, WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING OVER 60 MILES AN HOUR IT HAS A TENDANCY TO WANDER OVER THE WHOLE ROAD. IF THERE IS A CROSS WIND IT REALLY IS BAD. THE WIFE WILL NOT DRIVE IT. I HAVE TALKED TO OTHER CUSTOMERS THEY HAVE A SIMILAR COMPLAINT. SEEMS TO GET WORSE WITH AGE OF CAR. WHEN I TAKE THE CAR IN TO GET IT SERVICED I MENTION THE STEERING AND THEY SAY THERE IS NO PROBLEM. THEY DO NOT WRITE IT DOWN ON THE SERVICE REQUEST EITHER. I GUESS THEY DO NOT WANT A RECORD. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME TO DAY THE OTHER TIME IT QUIT IN THE MIDDLE. I AM REENTERING. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE PREVIOUSLY RECEIVED REPAIRS TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL UNDER NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V017000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, ACCELERATOR PEDAL). WHILE DRIVING AT RELATIVELY LOW SPEEDS OF 3 MPH AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL AND WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE DEALER WAS PERFORMING A DIAGNOSTIC TEST ON THE VEHICLE WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 57,000.
MY 2009 COROLLA STEERING IS TERRIBLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, IT WANDERS ALL OVER MY LANE REQUIRING CONSTANT STEERING WHEEL CORRECTION. THE BEST WAY TO DESCRIBE IT IS IT FEELS LIKE A HUGE GUST OF WIND IS CONSTANTLY BLOWING THE CAR AROUND AT SPEEDS ABOVE 40MPH. I'VE HAD AN INDEPENDENT SHOP CHECK THE ALIGNMENT AND THEY SAY ITS FINE. NOW THAT I'VE STARTED INVESTIGATING THIS PROBLEM IT SEEMS THERE ARE A LOT OF COROLLA OWNERS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE NOT CONTACTED TOYOTA ABOUT THE PROBLEM WITH MY CAR BUT ALL OF THE OTHER COROLLA OWNERS SAY THEY WERE TOLD BY TOYOTA THAT WAS JUST THE WAY THAT CAR HANDLES. PLEASE MAKE TOYOTA FIX THIS PROBLEM ON THESE CARS. *TR

THE WINDSHIELD ON OUR 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA CRACKED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WITH NO OTHER VEHICLE NEAR BY. THE CRACK QUICKLY SPREAD ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD FRONT SIDE. *TR
2009 TOYOTA COROLLA, 29,000 MILES, THE STEERING LOCKED UP, ALMOST GOT IN A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT. I FINALLY GOT THE CAR PULLED OVER. THE BATTERY WAS THEN DEAD. I HAD IT TOWED IN TO THE TOYOTA DEALER WHEREI BOUGHT IT. THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT NEEDS IMMEDIATE ATTENTION! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY BETWEEN 10-20 MPH, A SUDDEN INCREASE IN ACCELERATION OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. WHEN THE BRAKES WERE ENGAGED THE SPEED RATE WOULD NOT DECREASE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT AND OPPOSING VEHICLE DRIVER WERE TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE RIBS, LEFT KNEE AND SUFFERED BACK PAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A SAVAGE LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING INVESTIGATED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 17,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
2009 COROLLA TOYOTA STEERING WHEEL LOCK UP. *TR
I AM FOLLOWING UP ON THIS COMPLAINT #10318215 REGARDING THE STEERING PROBLEMS WITH MY COROLLA LEADING TO DRIFTING AND UNSTEADINESS WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHER SPEEDS. THE SYMPTOMS ON MY 2009 COROLLA WITH THE STEERING COLUMN ARE GETTING WORSE. THE DRIFTS ARE GETTING MORE PRONOUNCED AND AT TIMES FEEL MORE LIKE A SWERVE. THE FREQUENCY OF THE DRIFTING HAS INCREASED. ALSO, I AM NOTICING THE UNEASINESS AT SLOWER SPEEDS. IN SHORT, I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR, AND I EXPERIENCED A SCARY INCIDENT OF MY CAR SWERVING OUT AS A TRUCK PASSED ME. AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, I TRY TO AVOID FREEWAY DRIVING, WHICH IS A BIG HASSLE, CONSIDERING THAT I HAVE A 56-MILE ROUNDTRIP WORK COMMUTE. THIS COMMUTE IS MOSTLY ALL FREE WAY DRIVING ON ROUTE 8 & 77 AND THE TURNPIKE. TO COMPENSATE, I NEED TO TAKE THE BACK ROADS, ADDING AN EXTRA FIFTEEN MINUTES TO MY COMMUTE. THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN IN CONTACT WITH TOYOTA CORPORATE WHO ARE SAYING THAT THERE IS NO PROBLEM AND THAT THE CASE HAS BEEN CLOSED WITH NHTSA. WHAT AM TO DO WHEN THE DEALERSHIP ADMITS TO NOT KNOWING HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND THE REGIONAL SERVICE REP FOR TOYOTA SAYS THERE IS ON PROBLEM AND THAT THE CASE WITH THE STEERING COLUMN IS CLOSED. PLEASE HELP. WHAT AM I TO DO? I AM DRIVING AN UNSAFE CAR. I AM RESTRICTED AS TO THE USE OF MY CAR. THERE IS NO RESOLUTION IN SITE FROM WHAT I CAN SEE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK WITH THE BRAKES DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED. THE VEHICLE WENT OVER THE PAVEMENT AND CAUSED THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT TIRE TO BLOW OUT. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED AN INVESTIGATOR WOULD FURTHER INSPECT THE VEHICLE. BEFORE THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT STATED WHEN DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THERE WAS AN UNUSUAL NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE AND THE DEALER TIGHTENED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THE REPAIR POTENTIALLY CONTRIBUTED TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 12,015.

TOYOTA COROLLA SPORT VIN #[XXX]--CALLED GERMAIN TOYOTA IN COLUMBUS OHIO TO SCHEDULE MY REPAIR AFTER RECEIVING NOTICE AND THEY TOLD ME THIS WAS NOT THE NOTICE TO GET CAR FIXED IT WAS SIMPLY THE NOTICE TO REMOVE THE MAT BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE PARTS TO FIX MY ACCELERATOR AT THIS TIME. I TOLD THEM THEY WERE WRONG AND I HAD ALREADY RECEIVED THE REMOVE YOUR MAT NOTICE AND THIS WAS THE RECALL. THE GUY WAS RUDE AND I CHOOSE NOT TO ARGUE. 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA. CONSUMER STATES SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE MAINTAINED SPEED OF TRAVEL EVEN AFTER HIS FOOT WAS REMOVED FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. TRAVEL SPEED DECREASED ONLY AFTER THE VEHICLES REGULAR BRAKE HAD BEEN REMOVED. THERE WAS A SPIKE IN THE RPM UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS WITHOUT CHANGE IN PRESSURE APPLIED TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. ALSO, THERE WAS ERRATIC IDLING WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK WITHOUT THE CONSUMER TOUCHING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE CONSUMER CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AFTER THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED. *JB
THE STEERING ON MY 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA XLE HAS BEEN AN ISSUE SINCE THE DAY I PURCHASED IT. THERE IS A COMPLETE LACK OF STEERING 'FEEL' WHICH RESULTS IN OVERSTEER AND DRIFTING INTO ANOTHER LANE OR OFF THE ROAD. NUMEROUS TIMES CARS IN OTHER LANES HAVE HAD TO MAKE CORRECTIONS TO AVOID A COLLISION DUE TO THE DRIFTING OF MY COROLLA. KEEPING THE COROLLA IN YOUR LANE REQUIRES COMPLETE CONCENTRATION WHICH RESULTS IN DRIVER FATIGUE. OFTEN I FIND MYSELF 'TWITCHING' THE STEERING WHEEL BACK AND FORTH TO STAY IN MY LANE OR ON THE PAVEMENT. I HAVE TAKEN MY COROLLA INTO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER CLAIMS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE SUSPENSION. THE DEALER SUGGESTED THERE MIGHT HAVE BEEN A PROBLEM WITH THE TIRES. I HAD THE TIRES REPLACED WITH THE HIGHEST QUALITY MICHELIN TIRES AVAILABLE FOR MY COROLLA , HAD AN ALIGNMENT ACCOMPLISHED, AND HAD THE TIRES FILLED WITH NITROGEN. THESE ACTIONS DID NOT HELP THE STEERING ISSUES AT ALL. THERE IS A DANGEROUS DEFECT WITH THE 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA STEERING THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. AT SOME POINT, LOSS OF LIFE IS INEVITABLE DUE TO THIS PROBLEM AND PROBABLY HAS ALREADY OCCURRED. NHTSA, THE OWNERS OF 2009 COROLLAS AND ALL THOSE THAT SHARE THE ROADWAYS WITH US DESPERATELY NEED FOR YOU TO INTERVENE TO COMPEL TOYOTA TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN WELL DOCUMENTED BY VARIOUS ENTITIES THAT TEST DRIVE AND WRITE REVIEWS ON AUTOMOBILES. ADDITIONALLY, MANY INDIVIDUAL OWNERS HAVE POSTED SIMILAR STEERING COMPLAINTS IN NUMEROUS FORUMS ON THE WEB. HELP! *TR
DATE: MAY 4, 2009-I JUST PURCHASED A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA LE AND HAVE HAD IT FOR 7 DAYS BEFORE HAVING TO RETURN IT TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED DUE TO A WANDERING FEELING IN THE STEERING AND MOVEMENT OF THE CAR WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS HAPPENED TO ME ON 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS DURING THE 7 DAYS I HAD IT VERY SCARY AND UNSAFE! I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS THE ROAD, A FLAT TIRE, OR THE WIND BLOWING MY CAR BUT AFTER 3 SEPARATE AND DIFFERENT CONDITIONS I KNOW IT IS NOT JUST ME IT IS THE CAR AND AFTER RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM I SEE MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS AS WELL!!!! *TR
"TAKATA RECALL" HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY REMEDY FROM DEALER. I WAS SENT A NOTICE LAST YEAR THAT IT WOULD BE ADDRESSED "VERY SOON", YET STILL HAVEN'T HEARD FROM ANYONE REGARDING THIS.
ON APRIL 21, 2010, WHILE I WAS PARKING MY TOYOTA COROLLA 2009 AT WORK, THE GAS PEDAL STAYED STUCK, ACCELERATED, AND I HIT A CAR THAT WAS NEXT TO THE PARKING SPACE WHERE I WAS TRYING TO PARK AND IT DAMAGED A FENCE. THE CAR WAS DAMAGED IN THE FRONT BUMPER, THE BONNET, THE PASSENGERS SIDE IN THE BACK AND DAMAGES UNDERNEATH THE CAR IS POSSIBLE. ON APRIL 19, 2010, THE TOYOTA DEALER HAD THE CAR BECAUSE OF THE RECALL. THE ACCIDENT WAS 2 DAYS AFTER. I HAD TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL BECAUSE I WAS AND AM IN PAIN. I HAVE A CERVICAL SUPPORT BECAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT. THE TOYOTA DEALER HAS MY CAR AS OF TODAY, APRIL 24, 2010. I REPORTED THE ACCIDENT TO THE POLICE OF MAYAGEZ, PUERTO RICO. PLEASE INVESTIGATE. *TR
MY 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA CONTINUES TO HAVE STEERING ISSUES...OVERSTEERING, NOT STAYING CENTERED IN ITS LANE. I HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP PROBABLY 12 OR MORE TIMES WITH THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD REPEATED PROBLEMS WITH ISSUES THAT I REPORTED STARTING IN LATE 2008. THESE ISSUES ARE NOW UNDER RECALL. I AM STILL DEEPLY CONCERNED ABOUT THE STEERING OF MY COROLLA. I DRIVE IT AS LITTLE AS I CAN TRYING TO STAY OFF OF THE TURNPIKE. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS PROBLEM IS ACTUALLY UNREPAIRABLE. I HAVE CONTACTED TOYOTA CORPORATE MORE TIMES THAN I CAN REMEMBER. ADDITIONALLY, I HAVE CONTACTED BOTH OF MY SENATORS AND ALSO MY CONGRESSWOMAN. I NEED THIS ISSUE VERY CAREFULLY INVESTIGATED. MY SON DROVE A COROLLA FOR MANY YEARS AND NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. TL*THE CONTACT OWNED A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY RISK WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE SINCE THERE WERE SO MANY RECALLS FOR HER YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER. THE CONTACT DID NOT EXPERIENCE ANY FAILURES. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 13,000. THERE ARE NO FAILURES AT THIS TIME.
TL*-THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 2 MPH IN THE REVERSE POSITION. WHEN PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL THE VEHICLE STALLED UNEXPECTEDLY. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE EXPERIENCED WAS ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECALL DEFECT UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 09V338000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC: POWER ASSIST:VACUUM ). THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 26,000.
I EXPERIENCED A FAILURE OF THE BRAKES IN MY 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA S. I WAS PULLING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT AT WORK TODAY AND APPROACHING A BUSY ROAD TO TURN RIGHT ONTO. APPROACHING THE TURN AT ABOUT 5 MPH, I PUSHED THE BRAKE PEDAL LIGHTLY TO GRADUALLY SLOW DOWN TO A STOP TO AVOID ENTERING THE ROAD INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. HOWEVER, WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS PUSHED, I HEARD A GRINDING NOISE AND THE CAR DID NOT DECELERATE AT ALL. IT MAY HAVE BEEN THE ABS ACTIVATING, DESPITE THE LOW SPEED AND LIGHT PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. I TRIED APPLYING MORE PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE, BUT THERE WAS STILL NO DECELERATION. ONLY WHEN I RELEASED THE BRAKES COMPLETELY (WHICH IS VERY HARD TO DO WHEN YOU'RE ABOUT TO DRIVE INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC) AND REAPPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL DID THE BRAKES ENGAGE AND THE VEHICLE STOP. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE BRAKES IN NEARLY 20,000 MILES OF DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. *TR

MY WIFE WAS RECENTLY IN AN ACCIDENT WHILE DRIVING A 2009 TOYOTA COROLLA IN PRINCETON NJ. SHE MENTIONED THAT SHE STOPPED AT THE STOP SIGN AND PRESUMABLY TRIED TO MOVE FORWARD A BIT SO THAT SHE CAN SEE THE TRAFFIC ON THE MAIN ROAD, TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN AND NEXT THING SHE REALIZED WAS THAT SHE WAS ON MIDDLE OF THE MAIN ROAD HIT BY A FLATBED TRUCK. DURING THE ACCIDENT: 1) THE SEATBELT TIGHTENED STRONG ENOUGH TO BRAKE HER LEFT CLAVICLE BONE IN HER SHOULDER. 2) THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THIS IS MY BIGGEST CONCERN. SINCE PURCHASED, I HAVE NOTICED AT SPEEDS OVER 40-50 MPH THE CAR IS VERY DIFFICULT TO KEEP MOVING IN YOUR LANE. WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 55 AND 60 MPH, THE CAR- WITHOUT MY FOOT NEAR THE ACCELERATOR- EXPERIENCED A SURGE IN ACCELERATION. THIS HAPPENED AT A TIME AFTER I WAS USING CRUISE CONTROL BUT HAD TURNED IT OFF BECAUSE I WAS COMING TOO CLOSE TO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND NEEDED TO SLOW DOWN. AS I RELEASED MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND MOVED IT TO THE BREAK, THE ENGINE REVVED DRAMATICALLY. ONCE SPEEDS REACHED OVER 65 (WITHIN ONE OR TWO SECONDS) I BROKE AND WAS ABLE TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN AND KEEP IT IN CONTROL. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL REINFORCEMENT BAR RECALL WAS PERFORMED ON 2/17/10. TOOK IT TO DEALER, THE FOUND NO PROBLEM AND WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE SITUATION.

WHEN I TRIED TO BRING THE CAR TO BE CHECKED AND WORKED ON, HE SAID NOT COME TILL HE CALLED WHEN HE WAS READY. FOR 1-2 WEEKS HE NEVER CALLED. WHEN I WENT TO ASK, THEY SAID THE CAR WAS NOT TO BE WORKED ON FOR A WHILE. I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE TO CHANGE TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP. THIS DEALERSHIP ASKED ME TO WAIT FOR 2 WEEKS, AND SAID WOULD NEED TO KEEP MY CAR FOR TWO WEEKS TO CHECK. I CALLED TWICE BUT NO ONE CALLED BACK. I FINALLY WENT TO A DEALERSHIP WHERE I HAPPENED TO BE NEAR WHERE I WORKED ONE DAY. THEY CHECKED TO MAKE SURE MY CAR WAS OKAY AT LEAST THEN. I ASKED THEM HELP ME PUT MY CARPET IN PLACE AS AFTER DETAILING THE FIRST DEALERSHIP DID NOT PUT THEM BACK IN ORDER AS THEY WERE WET. THIS DEALERSHIP PUT HOOK ON MY CARPET TO MAKE SURE THEY WERE IN PLACE AS I DID NOT HAVE THE HOOK AS THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE, AND ADVISED ME TO CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE, NOT KNOWING I HAVE ALREADY CALLED AND THEY WERE REFERRING ME TO DEALERSHIP THAT TOOK FOREVER. I WAS BY ANOTHER DEALERSHIP WHERE I WORKED THE NEXT DAY. THEY CHECKED, AND ORDERED THE GAS PEDAL IMMEDIATELY. IN JUST 2-3 DAYS THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD THE PART AND HAD ME OVER AND GOT MY CAR FIXED. THE CARPET IN THE DRIVER SEAT IS FIXED, BUT NOT THE OTHERS YET. THE GAS PEDAL OF MY CAR WAS A RISK TO THE SAFETY OF ME AND MY CAR AND OTHER PEOPLE AND CARS AROUND ME. THE DELAY OF THE FIRST TWO DEALERSHIPS AND CUSTOMER SERVICE SEEM TO NOT CARE FOR THE URGENT NEED FOR THE PEDAL TO BE REPLACED IMMEDIATELY TO ENSURE ABSOLUTE SAFETY.
