ABS light and brake light comes on and goes away on my toyota prius 2010
MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON SUDDENLY WHEN I WAS DRIVING THE PRIUS LAST MONTH; 'ABS', 'BRAKE', AND 'TRACTION CONTROL' WARNING LIGHTS ALL CAME ON SIMULTANEOUSLY. THE BRAKING FUNCTION WAS NOT NORMAL. HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL A LOT MORE FOR THE BRAKE TO BE APPLIED. ALSO BATTERY IS NO LONGER RECHARGING ON APPLYING BRAKES. TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER (FRED ANDERSON, RALEIGH, NC). THE ESTIMATE FOR REPAIR IS $4045. THE CAR IS 2010 MODEL (11 YRS) AND HAS 106000 MILES. THIS IS KNOWN PROBLEM AND IN MY OPINION AND DESIGN FLAW AND TOYOTA NEEDS TO FIX THIS. PLEASE HELP.
While driving in the highway had several times hard situations. Yesterday and truck became in front in my lane while, I had brake fast the car started loosing control and ended up on the side of the road. Is like the brakes makes the car loose all the control in a bad situation instead of help to prevent accidents. Each time I go to Toyota I had mentioned this issue, but they say there's not recalls available. Sometimes I think I will die because of this.
My problem began when I pressed my brakes and instead it accelerated. I thought maybe my foot slipped and didn’t know what it meant. It happened again a few weeks later and then all of the dash lights went on that indicated that I had to have the big brake recall repair. Being that my car is past the 10 year warranty and past the extension for mileage, I had to pay out of pocket. This repair was done and upon receiving my car back, the gas mileage instantly began to drop. It went from averaging 42-48MPG in my town to 25-30MPG. I took it in the be looked at and they ensured me nothing was wrong with the car AT ALL. The battery wasn’t holding charge on top of this and it wasn’t reading the same on the dash about the 0-100 current gas mileage you’re getting as you go (the lines scale thing) that goes up when you let off the gas, and I could feel a strange shift while I was driving so I took it in again. They told me this time it’d be $110 to diagnose even though it was the same issue that started after the brake system repair, so I left extremely upset. A few days later my cars steering went out while I was driving and the whole hybrid system died. The car now only works in power mode. The consumer stated the car was taken in for a brake recall and had to pay $2800 in repairs. The consumer stated what they thought was a battery failure turned out to be the beginning of an electrical motor failure related to overheating.
I have a 2010 Toyota Prius. I was driving home on I-80 and when I was getting down on the slope of the Sacramento river bridge, three lights suddenly popped on the dashboard - ABS light, Brake light and Traction control light. Following this, I lost efficient control on the brakes and I had to push really hard on the brake pad to even slow the car down. If I had to stop suddenly, it would have definitely resulted in a serious crash. Because the brakes stopped working as they are supposed to, I turned on the blinkers, took the exit and tried to stop slowly. I was able to stop on the side of the road just before the red signal. I was just couple of miles from my home so I kept the blinkers on, and slowly drove through internal roads to my home. Later when I found out the code, it came as C1391 which is usually for failure of the brake booster assembly or the brake booster pump assembly or both. When I contacted my local Toyota dealership, they mentioned that the extended warranty for replacing these parts ended in November 2020 and because of that they asked me to take care of this >$3000 repair. I also contacted Toyota corporate to file a complaint and was told the same thing. This issue is a serious safety concern and Toyota should issue a recall and not an extended warranty. They should not be waiting for people to loose their lives before they issue a recall.
After buying the car from Liquidation Station (used car dealer) the day after we bought the (2010 Prius Hybrid) the breaks went completely out. My daughter and grandchild were in the car and she almost crashed in to on coming traffic putting them in extreme danger of being killed. We had the car towed to Caldwell Toyota in Conway AR. and they said the break booster had failed and that they would not cover the cost of the repairs even though there are several complaints of break failure and several recalls for this car.

The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the automatic braking system failed and the brakes were making a strange sound and not responding as soon as the brake pedal was depressed. The ABS, brake, and stability control warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed with hydraulic brake booster pump failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that the vehicle was over the extended warranty coverage. The failure mileage was 118,000.
The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Prius. The contact stated while driving 65 mph, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact stated the check hybrid system warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not drivable. The vehicle was towed to her residence. The vehicle was pushed to an independent mechanic nearby her residence however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 282,000.
Code 1391. just like many others Toyotas of this year
While driving at highway speed on Interstate 87 in New York, the 2010 Toyota Prius suddenly lost power while multiple warning lights on the dashboard illuminated, along with a "Check Hybrid System" notification. The engine would operate but at significantly reduced power. I drove it to an independent garage to identify the diagnostic trouble codes, which included P0A94 and P324E, an inverter problem with the hybrid battery and a problem with the intelligent power module. The currently is currently awaiting a confirm diagnosis at a Toyota dealership in New Jersey, but the problem is exactly what thousands of other 2010 - 2014 Prius owners have reported, yet Toyota has yet to issue a recall to replace the inverter.
Brakes became soft the stopping distance grew.All my dash warning signs lit up. Why was my car to repaired in warranty or recalled when the problem was a manufacturer error? Toyota can't pick and chose which cars they will fix when they all have the same problem. I am attaching a 'Customer Support Program' sample and my car falls under the Primary Coverage section. My car was diagnosed at a dealership on 5/14/2021. But not fixed under warranty or recall. Toyota has recall on brakes for many of the newer cars too. Same issue.
My brakes are failing. The brake booster leaks. The stopping distance is greater. All the warning lights are on on the dash. Error code C1391 on the unit. Two dealers would not repair it under warranty or recall. They gave me a price of $2600-$2800.The situation still exists. The car has had the engine replaced out of warranty but by the dealer but the brakes were not replaced as a preventive measure.
ABS pump failed, all the lights came on the dash for brake, and brakes stop working properly it still drives but unsafe to do so, Toyota says it’s common problem and they want $3000 to replace it
The brakes failed while driving. The traction, ABS and brake light all came on, on the dashboard and the brakes were working at 10% or less. I had to use the engine braking mode to stop the car. I took it to a technician and this is a known issue that Toyota is ignoring.
THE TRACTION , ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON AFTER DRIVING OVER A SMALL POTHOLE

The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 133,000.
I WAS JUST TOLD THAT MY 2010 PRIUS NEEDS THE BRAKE BOOST ASSEMBLY (CYLINDER AND BOOST) AT A COST OF $2,570. IT WAS CAUSING MY 4 MONTH OLD, 12V BATTERY TO DRAIN. I THOUGHT THAT WAS OUTRAGEOUS SO I LOOKED INTO IT AND FOUND OUT THERE WAS AN "ENHANCED EXTENDED" WARRANTY ISSUED (NOT A RECALL) , BUT FOR MY VEHICLE IT EXPIRED APRIL 2020. ANOTHER ISSUE THAT I UNCOVERED THAT THIS PART ALSO CAUSES THE PRIUS TO LURCH FORWARD WHEN BRAKING AND YOU HAPPEN TO DRIVE OVER A BUMP. TRAIN TRACKS, OR POTHOLES WHICH IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED THIS WITH MY PRIUS. FORTUNATELY, I HAVE HAD NO ACCIDENTS SO FAR. I HAVE READ THAT THERE HAVE BEEN ACCIDENTS CAUSED BY THIS ISSUE. TOYOTA SHOULD STEP UP AND FIX THE PROBLEM BEFORE PEOPLE ARE INJURED DUE TO THIS DEFECTIVE BRAKING SYSTEM. MY DAUGHTER DRIVES A 2015 PRIUS. IS ANYTHING MORE BEING DONE? OR ARE THEY GOING TO WAIT UNTIL MORE ACCIDENTS HAPPEN? I STUMBLED ACROSS THIS ISSUE WHEN MY 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS 12V BATTERY REQUIRED FREQUENT JUMP STARTS. I REPLACED THE BATTERY ($300) DEC 2020. PRIOR TO THAT, I CALLED AAA AND GOT A JUMP START. BECAUSE OF COVID, I WASN'T DRIVING THE VEHICLE DAILY (WORK FROM HOME) SO IT WAS ASSUMED THE CAUSE WAS THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE DRIVEN FREQUENTLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN HER DRIVEWAY, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY ROLLED BACKWARDS OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY. AS A RESULT, THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE RAN INTO A TREE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED.THERE WERE NO INJURIES SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AND WAS TAKEN TO A COLLISION CENTER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AS OF YET. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. REGENERATIVE BRAKES STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING IN CLEAR CONDITIONS ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60MPH, ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, AND BRAKES LIGHTS ON DASH ILLUMINATED. ALMOST CRASHED AS BRAKE PEDAL NEEDED TO BE PRESSED REALLY HARD AND ALMOST TO THE FLOOR TO STOP THE CAR. KNOWN ISSUE AND DEALER REFUSES TO FIX THE PROBLEM
I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW IN 2010. TOYOTA PRIUS HYBRID. TWO WEEKS AGO THE ABS LIGHT, EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT, AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS ALL CAME ON AND WON'T GO OFF. DEALERSHIP SAYS I NEED $2000 WORTH OF WORK. BRAKE BOOSTER/MASTER CYLINDER, BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP ASSEMBLY, BRAKE ACTUATOR INTERNAL LEAK. BRAKES ACTING WEIRD. DEALERSHIP SAYS I DON'T NEED TO DRIVE CAR, JUST PAY $2000 WHICH I DON'T HAVE. THEY SAID TOYOTA EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO DECEMBER 2020, WHICH JUST PAST. I NEVER GOT LETTER SAYING IT WAS A PROBLEM.
TRAVELING HOME FROM TAMPA TO ST. PETERSBURG ON INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH AND SUDDENLY BREAKS FAIL. BRAKE, ABS, AND TRACTION LIGHTS COME ON. PUSHED PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND WAS ABLE TO GET ENOUGH BRAKING TO PULL OFF THE INTERSTATE AND INTO A GAS STATION AND INTO A PARKING SPOT SAFELY. NO WARNING-JUST IMMEDIATE FAILURE. MIRACLE NO ONE KILLED. READING MANY OTHER SIMILAR STORIES FOR YEAR. WHAT IS GOING ON THAT THIS HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED????
I WAS DRIVING AND PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO MAKE A TURN. AFTER COMPLETING THE TURN I NOTICED SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH BOARD INCLUDING BRAKE, ABS, AND TRACTION CONTROL. THE BRAKES WERE VERY MUSHY BUT WORKED ENOUGH TO GET THE VEHICLE TO A SHOP. THE SHOP ASSESSED THE VEHICLE WHICH DISPLAYED CODE C1391 AND SAID IT WAS BRAKE RELATED POSSIBLY ABS SYSTEM. THEY CLEARED THE CODE IN MY VEHICLE AND BRAKES WORKED NORMAL FOR A VERY SHORT TIME BEFORE THE SAME WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED AND BRAKES WENT MUSHY AND NOT WORKING PROPERLY. I THEN LOOKED UP POSSIBLE RECALLS OR ENHANCED WARRANTIES AND I CALLED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NO RECALL OR EXTENDED/ENHANCED WARRANTY FOR ANY BRAKING ISSUE ON MY VEHICLE BASED ON THE VIN NUMBER. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY CHARGED ME TO TEST FOR A CODE. THEY CAME UP WITH CODE C1391 AND STATE IN THEIR PAPERWORK THAT THE CAUSE IS "BRAKE BOOSTER INTERNAL FAILURE" AND RECOMMEND REPLACING THE BRAKE BOOSTER. THEIR PAPERWORK SHOWS REPLACEMENT OF A BRAKE PUMP AND BRAKE BOOSTER HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT THAT IT EXPIRED 9/26/2020. THEREFORE THE DEALER WOULD NOT FIX MY CAR AT THE COST OF TOYOTA. MY VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 91,000 MILES AND OTHERS WITH HIGHER MILEAGE HAVE DOCUMENTED THAT TOYOTA HAS REPAIRED THIS KNOWN, WELL DOCUMENTED, EXPENSIVE (ABOUT $4,000) AND CONTINUED DANGEROUS BRAKING PROBLEM IN SEVERAL CASES. PER THE DEALERSHIP AND MY CONTACT WITH TOYOTA THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE AT THEIR COST., WHICH AT THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IS ABOUT $4,000 PARTS AND LABOR. AN ADDITIONAL ISSUE IS TRUSTING TOYOTA SERVICE AND/OR PRIVATE MECHANICS THAT THEY WILL REPLACE THE PROBLEM PART(S) OR REPLACING ADDITIONAL PARTS MAKING THE REPAIR BILL HIGHER OR MAYBE NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM WHERE ADDITIONAL REPAIRS WILL BE REQUIRED BEFORE TOO LONG.
JUST PURCHASE THE CAR AND THEY R REFUSING TO FIX THE ABS KNOWN ISSUE UNDER THAT ABS RECALL

Impending failure of the brake booster / brake booster pump assembly. ABS and brake warning lights remain on and a constant electrical whining sound can be heard from the brake booster assembly. I INHERITED A 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS 3RD GENERATION WHEN MY MOTHER PASSED A FEW YEARS AGO. I'VE SINCE HAD SEVERAL UNNECESSARY AND COSTLY PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR AS WELL AS DEALERSHIP'S OUTLOOK, TREATMENT, AND INDIFFERENCE TO THE DANGER THAT THEIR CUSTOMERS FACE--AS MANY ALREADY HAVE. THE FOLLOWING ARE SITUATIONS THAT I'M EXPERIENCING NOW. FIRST, I WAS RECENTLY LEAVING THE PHARMACY WHEN ALL OF MY WARNING LIGHTS (ABS, BRAKE, TRACTION ) SUDDENLY CAME ON AND MY BRAKES FAILED AS I WAS HEADING HOME. I'M A SINGLE MOTHER OF A SPECIAL NEEDS CHILD AND I HAD TO GET HOME TO HER. I WAS APPROXIMATELY 1 MILE FROM MY HOME AND I WAS NEARLY IN 3 ACCIDENTS THAT COULD'VE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. THANKFULLY THE ROAD WAS DRY, CLEAR, AND WITH LITTLE TRAFFIC. WE HAVE BEEN HOMEBOUND FOR WEEKS, WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION FOR DOCTORS, FOOD, ETC. OUR VEHICLE IS OUR ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION, AND WE MUST GET TO DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS, ETC. SECOND, THE CAR HAS INEXPLICABLY STALLED TWICE. THIRD, I'M CONSTANTLY HAVING TO REPLACE LIGHTS, AND HAVE BEEN PULLED OVER BY THE POLICE FOR LIGHTS NOT WORKING. FINALLY, AN AIRBAG HAS BEEN RECALLED AND ONCE I CAN AFFORD IT I'LL GET THAT FIXED AS WELL. I SPOKE WITH MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS, AND AFTER EXPLAINING THE PROBLEMS, I WAS INFORMED (SEVERAL TIMES AS I WAS REPEATEDLY TRANSFERRED) THAT I HAD TO PAY AN INSPECTION FEE THAT ALSO CHANGED WITH EACH PERSON. FINALLY, I WAS TOLD I HAD TO LEAVE MY CAR THERE FOR DAYS AND THAT I WAS GOING TO PAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO FIX THE CAR. I'M UNABLE TO PAY THAT MUCH MONEY--AND THE AMOUNT KEPT CHANGING AS WELL. I HAVE RESEARCHED THESE PROBLEMS AND NOW UNDERSTAND THE METHODOLOGY AND INTIMIDATION USED ON POOR PEOPLE SUCH AS MYSELF. TOYOTA SHOULD BE ASHAMED. FIX THESE PROBLEMS THAT WILL ENDANGER AND POSSIBLY KILL YOUR CUSTOMERS FOR NOTHING MORE THAN THEIR OWN INCOMPETENCE AND GREED.
I HAVE LOST ALL REGENERATIVE BRAKING. THE ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, AND SERVICE LIGHTS ARE ALL ILLUMINATED CONTINUALLY. IT HAS BECOME DIFFICULT TO STOP AND THE HYBRID BATTERY IS DEPLETING AT A RAPID RATE WITH VERY SLOW RECHARGING.
ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 23, OUR BRAKING SYSTEM FAILED ON OUR TOYOTA PRIUS WHILE DRIVING ON A SIDE ROAD AFTER MONTHS OF CONTINUING WEAKNESS IN THE BRAKE PEDAL AND "LURCHING" WHEN BRAKING OVER POTHOLES. THE BRAKE SYSTEM LOST HYDRAULIC PRESSURE. UPON INSPECTION BY AN ASE-CERTIFIE MECHANIC, THEY DETERMINED THE BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY HAD LIKELY FAILED, BUT RECOMMENDED SENDING TO A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. THEY CONFIRMED THE VEHICLE WAS UNFIT TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS SENT TO A TOYOTA DEALER. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THE BREAK BOOSTER ASSEMBLY/ACTUATOR HAD FAILED. THE DEALER ADVISED THE BRAKE BOOSTER HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN UNDER A TOYOTA "CUSTOMER SERVICE CAMPAIGN," BUT THAT THE "WARRANTY" CAMPAIGN HAD EXPIRED. HOWEVER, HE ADVISED TOYOTA BRAND ENGAGEMENT CENTER HAS OFTEN ASSISTED CUSTOMERS WHEN THEY'RE JUST OUTSIDE THE WARRANTY PERIOD. WHEN CONTACTING TOYOTA, THEY STATED THIS VEHICLE WAS NEVER UNDER RECALL AND WAS NOT ELIGIBLE, BUT THEN SAID THEY SENT INFORMATION ON A TOYOTA SAFETY CAMPAIGN. UPON RESEARCH, WE CONTINUED TO CONFIRM THAT THE DIAGNOSIS WAS TIED TO RECALL D0H FROM JULY 2013. WE'VE ALSO REVIEWED OUR VEHICLE HISTORY, AND THE BRAKE PUMP ASSEMBLY WAS NEVER REPLACED DESPITE BEING INSPECTED CONSISTENTLY BY TOYOTA DEALERS SINCE 2013 AND UNDER RECALL. TOYOTA HAS DECLINED TO COVER THE COST OF THE REPLACEMENT FOR THE BRAKE PUMP ASSEMBLY. THE COST OF REPAIR IS NEARLY THE SAME AS THE CURRENT VALUE OF THE VEHICLE. TOYOTA BRAND ENGAGEMENT CENTER HAS DECLINED TO PROVIDE THIS INFORMATION IN WRITING, WOULD NOT PROVIDE A NAME, AND OTHERWISE ACTED COMPLETELY SKETCHY - FOR LACK OF A BETTER WORD - ANY TIME WE TRIED TO CLARIFY THE REPAIR WAS CLEARLY TIED TO THE JUNE 2013 RECALL. WE WERE VERY, VERY FORTUNATE THE BRAKES FAILED ON A SIDE STREET NEAR OUR HOME, NOT ON A HIGHWAY OR OTHER HIGH-RISK AREA. WE WOULD LIKE TOYOTA TO HONOR THE RECALL, EXTEND IT FOR OTHER CUSTOMERS, AND COVER THE COST OF REPAIR.
ABS, TRACTION, AND BRAKE LIGHT STAY ON. IT IS THE ACTUATOR BRAKE AND THE COST TO FIX IS OVER $2000. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE WITH OTHER 2010 PRIUS' AND IT IS A COMMON ISSUE. THIS IS A DEFECT THAT TOYOTA REFUSES TO FIX EVEN THOUGH IT IS VERY COMMON AND PUTS MANY PEOPLE AT RISK.
HELLO, I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY PRIUS 2010, I HAVE NOT IDEA WHAT HAPPENED WITH MY BRAKES WHEN I WAS DRIVING IN HIGHWAY 95 NORTH IN FLORIDA, MY BRAKES WAS HEAVY AND DIFFICULT TO PUCH, AFTER THAT PROBLEM NEVER MY CAR WAS NORMAL AGAIN .I HAVE ALL THATS LIGHT ON IN MY CAR RIGHT NOW. I AM SCARY DRIVE MY CAR WITH THIS PROBLEM. I SEE LOT UP INFORMATION OF OTHER OWNERS OF TOYOTA PRIUS 2010 AND 2011 WITH THE SAME PROBLEM BUT ANYBODY KNOT WHAT IS THE PROBLEM . MY LIGHT OF BRAKES ABS , STABILYTRAC AND OTHER SYMBOLS OF PRACAUTION IS ON IN THE SAMETIME. IS IMPORTANT FIX THIS PROBLEM . OUR HEAL AND OUR LIFE CAN NOT BE REPLACE FOR AN BRAKES PROBLEM OF THE CAR . THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 209,000.
WENT OVER BUMP AT RAILROAD CROSSING AND ABS, BRAKE, SLIP WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND REGENERATIVE BRAKING STOPPED WORKING. CAR WAS HARDER TO STOP. TOOK TO DEALER AND CAR WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THIS WORK NEEDED: REPLACE BOOSTER AND BOOSTER PUMP ASSY AND REFLASH (FAILED BOOSTER, BOOSTER PUMP) FAIL $3,259.84 CAR IS BEYOND WARRANTY FIX DATES THOUGH ALL THESE CARS WERE RECALLED IN CANADA AND A CLASS ACTION SUIT IS ONGOING IN OHIO OVER THIS ISSUE. WHY WON'T THE NTSB FOLLOW CANADA'S LEAD AND GET THESE FAILING BRAKE SYSTEMS FIXED BEFORE SOMETHING SERIOUS HAPPENS?
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND THE TRACTION CONTROL, ABS, AND BRAKE LIGHT ALL COME ON. I GO TO USE THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL WAS A LOT FIRMER AND WAS HARDER TO PRESS. THE CAR MAKES A BUZZING NOISE I BELIEVE IT IS THE BRAKE ACCUMULATOR. I GO TO THE NEAREST PLACE TO GET THE CODES READ. IT CAME UP WITH C1391 AND I LOOK THAT CODE UP AND IT COMES UP WITH THAT CODE IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE PRIUS. I READ THAT IT COULD LEAD TO BRAKE FAILURE.

IN MARCH DEALER DIAGNOSED ISSUE MOST LIKELY A BRAKE BOOSTER AND PUMP ASSEMBLY WHICH WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH 2010 PRIUS. TOYOTA IDENTIFIED THE ISSUE IN A PREVIOUS QUALITY CAMPAIGN BUT ONLY REPAIRED IF BRAKES FULLY FAILED. BRAKE FAILURE IS WHAT IT TOOK TO HAVE YOUR CAR REPAIRED?

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO HALEY TOYOTA OF ROANOKE (1530 COURTLAND RD NE, ROANOKE, VA 24012) WHERE SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP ASSEMBLY ACCUMULATOR, A DECREASE IN THE HYDRAULIC PRESSURE, AND A DEFECTIVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT LINKED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V235000 (SERVICE BRAKES) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 162,000.

I TRAVEL TO WORK ONE HOUR AWAY FROM HOME, ON HIGH SPEED HIGHWAY'S MY BREAK SYSTEM LIGHTS TURNED ON, TRACTION, ABS AND BREAK, BREAK PEDAL SINKS AND WILL NOT BREAK AND IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING HOME. I HOPE NO ONE GETS KILLED
TOYOTA BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP HAS FAILED DUE TO MANUFACTURING DEFECTS, WHICH AFFECTED THE STOPPING OF THE VEHICLE. TOYOTA HAS ISSUED RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT ONLY FOR LATEST MODELS (2019 AND LATER). I'VE CALLED TO TOYOTA AND THEY REFUSED TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM. I LOOKED UP ON INTERNET AND FOUND THIS IS A WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM EXPERIENCED BY MANY OWNERS OF PRIUSES. TOYOTA MUST ISSUE THE RECALL FOR ALL THE VEHICLES AFFECTED, NOT THE LATEST ONES ONLY.
MY CAR'S ABS, TRACTION, AND BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON. I TOOK IT TO TWO SHOPS AND THEY BOTH SAID MY CAR WAS RECALLED AND TO HAVE THE DEALERSHIP FIX IT. THE RECALL IS ON THE BREAKS. THE BRAKE PEDAL IS ALSO NOT FULLY WORKING, THERE IS AN ABNORMAL LEAK OF BRAKE FLUID PRESSURE. BOTH AUTO SERVICE PLACES SAID TO DEMAND FOR THE DEALERSHIP TO TAKE CAR OF THIS BECAUSE THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT GOING ON FOR THIS CAR WITH THIS EXACT PROBLEM.
I AM HAVING AN ISSUE WITH MY BRAKE ACTUATOR/BRAKE BOOSTER. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND TOYOTA IS REFUSING TO HELP WITH THE ISSUE. THE ABS, BRAKE, AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ARE ON AND REGEN BRAKING IS NOT WORKING. THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO COVER THIS BASED ON BULLETIN ZJB BUT ABSOLUTELY REFUSE ANY HELP.
WAS GOING 25 MPH YESTERDAY NOVEMBER 22, 2020 EVENING WHEN 4 (BRAKE, ABS, TRACTION & CAUTION) LIGHTS CAME ON DASHBOARD. PULLED OVER THE SHOULDER & TURNED IGNITION OFF. RESTARTED LATER & 4 LIGHTS STILL ON. FOLLOWING DAY, WENT TO DEALERSHIP & WAS TOLD BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY NEED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO INTERNAL FLUID LEAK.
Check hybrid system light ignites, slows down vehicle in middle of high speed highway. First incident November of 2020 then several incidents after. Repair shops don't assure problem according to error codes & they recommend possibilities they cannot assure will resolve the problem. Car was taken into local dealership after receiving recall notice for software and airbags prior to November 2020 when the issue began. Software update took a couple of hours. Restart/reboot temporarily allowed driving again. Most recently the system entirely shut down & the car will not start or run. Abandoned car on side of the road and got heat exhaustion from walking the rest of the way home and had vehicle towed. Error lights come on including "check hybrid system" says "shift to P position when starting" and will not allow start.
BAD RINGS IN THE MOTOR. MY DEALER SAID HE IS SEEING A LOT OF PRIUS'S LIKE THIS. HE THINKS TOYOTA WILL HAVE A RECALL ON THE PRIUS SOON. CAMRY AND RAV-4 HAS ALREADY BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS REASON. MY PRIUS JUST STARTED USING A LOT OF OIL @130,000. (1QT PER 1200 MILES) PLEASE ENFORCE A RECALL FOR CONSUMER PROTECTION.

TOOK TO DEALER AND SHOWED CODE 1391 WHICH SHOWED THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND BOOSTER PUMP ASSEMBLIES NEED REPLACING. IT'S A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH TOYOTA. A VOLUNTARY RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR OUR 2010, BUT MY SPECIFIC MODEL WASN'T INCLUDED AND RECALL EXPIRED IN 11/19 OR 150K MILES. I'M AT 150,992. THERE IS ACTIVE RECALL FOR SAME ISSUE FOR 2011-2015 MODELS. IT'S A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE AND THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT. IT'S A $3K JOB TO REPAIR FOR A CAR THAT IS WORTH ABOUT DOUBLE THAT. WHEN THIS WARNING COMES UP, YOUR BRAKING SYSTEM IS NOT RELIABLE. HAD THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING, AN ACCIDENT COULD HAVE OCCURRED. TOYOTA KNOWING THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE NEEDS TO CORRECT IT ON ALL MODELS THAT SHOW THIS WARNING, NOT JUST SELECT MODELS.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
UPON TURNING THE VEHICLE ON AND STARTING TO DRIVE, THE INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE THEN STARTS AND EXPERIENCES ABOUT 20 SECONDS OF MISFIRING TO THE POINT THE CAR IS WITHOUT SMOOTH POWER. THIS HAPPENS AT RANDOM. IF THE CAR WAS IN THE WRONG SITUATION WHEN IT HAPPENED IT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THE SAME THING WILL OCCASIONALLY HAPPEN WHEN PARKED AFTER WAITING FOR THE ENGINE TO START.
I HAVE EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH THE ELECTRICAL, OIL, AND BREAK SYSTEMS EVER SINCE PURCHASING MY CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED 2010 PRIUS FROM THE DEALERSHIP IN 2013. TOYOTA HAS NEVER PROVIDED A SATISFACTORY ANSWER FOR WHAT IS ACTUALLY WRONG WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; THE PROBLEM STILL REMAINS. TOYOTA ALSO DOES NOT HAVE AN IDEAL MAINTENANCE PLAN SET UP FOR THE KNOWN INCREASED OIL CONSUMPTION RATE THAT IS DIRECTLY LINKED TO MY MODEL VEHICLE AND HAS NOT ONLY NOT PERFORMED ROUTINE OIL CHANGES BUT ALSO SENT ME HOME AFTER A SUPPOSED OIL CHANGE WITH ZERO OIL IN MY TANK. BUT TODAY MY MAIN CONCERN THAT I TAKE ISSUE WITH AND THAT IVE ENCOUNTERED FROM THE GET-GO, HAS TO DO WITH THE BREAKS. FOR YEARS I'VE BEEN TELLING TOYOTA ABOUT HOW MY BREAKS DO THIS THING WHERE UNDER THE RIGHT CIRCUMSTANCES (THOSE BEING THINGS LIKE SLIGHT BUMPS OR RAISES IN THE ROAD, OR GOING OVER A MANHOLE COVER) THE BREAKS NOT ONLY GIVE OUT BUT ACTUALLY PROPEL ME FORWARD WITH ZERO CHANCE FOR STOPPING WHICH IS QUITE TERRIFYING ALREADY AND THEN WHEN YOU ADD IN OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD INTO THE EQUATION IS A LITERAL NIGHTMARE. DESPITE MY MANY EFFORTS FOR TOYOTA TO TAKE A LOOK AT THEM THEY ALWAYS REFUSE ANY SERVICE TO THEM BECAUSE MY DASHBOARD IS NOT DISPLAYING ANY WARNING SIGNS. ALSO, DUE TO THE FACT THAT ITS NOT A CONSTANT ISSUE, MEANING IT ONLY HAPPENS UNDER THE RIGHT CIRCUMSTANCES WHICH IDK WHERE SUCH A PRECISE PLACE EXISTS NEAR THE DEALERSHIP, THEY CANT EXPERIENCE IT FOR THEMSELVES. SO MY CONCERNS ARE DISMISSED LEAVING ME TO FEND FOR MYSELF WHENEVER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES ARISE WHICH NO DOUBT AN ACCIDENT SEEMS TO BE ON THE HORIZON. THEN WITH ~114,700 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, MY ENTIRE ABS SYSTEM CRASHED WHILE I WAS IN TRAFFIC. LUCKILY I AM A BEYOND EXCEPTIONAL DRIVER AND ALSO HAVE CATLIKE REFLEXES SO WAS ABLE TO MANAGE MY WAY TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD WHEN THIS OCCURRED. HOWEVER, WITH WARNING LIGHTS NOW ILLUMINATED O
I WENT TO THE DEALER AS I WAS TOLD AFTER OPENING A CASE WITH TOYOTA,, HOWEVER THE SOLUTION WAS NOT RESOLVED TO MY SATISFACTION. BASICALLY. SAFETY PARTS WERE REPLACED FROM A RECALL ON 08/2013. A FEW YEARS LATER I GOT ANOTHER TOYOTA NOTIFICATION THAT IF I HAD THESE BRAKE BOOSTER RELATED FAILURES/LIGHTS TO BRING IT IN, I WOULD HAVE EVEN IF I HAD THE LIGHTS WITHOUT THE NOTIFICATION. THE OTHER DAY I HAD THE FAILURE RELATED TO THE DEFECTIVE PARTS INSTALLED ON 08/2013. SO SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 08/2013 AND WHEN TOYOTA NOTIFIED ME ABOUT THE LIGHTS OR THE STILL EXISTING DEFECT, THAT THERE WAS A DEFECT GOING TO HAPPEN BUT DID NOT KNOW WHEN AND TODAY I HAD THE FAILURE. I BELIEVED THAT SINCE I HAD THE ORIGINAL REPLACEMENT BRAKE SAFETY PARTS REPLACED THAT I WAS DRIVING A SAFE PRIUS. I FEEL THE SECOND REPAIR FOR THE SAME PARTS SHOULD BE COVERED SINCE WHEN THEY NOTIFIED ME THEY KNEW THERE WAS A DEFECT AND CHOSE NOT TO ABSORB THE COST OF THIS REMEDY.
MY CAR IS ACCELERATING WHILE BRAKING. WHENEVER I TRY TO BRAKE ON THE ROAD WHILE CURBING OR STOPPING AT THE TRAFFIC SIGNALS, THE CAR SKIPS/SLIDE FORWARD. IT'S GETTING WORSE ON THE RAINY TIME THOUGH.
