BRAKE LIGHT, ABS,SLIP INDICATOR,BRAKE SYSTEM WARNIG LIGHT SYSTEM ALL CAME ON WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH VELOCITY [75M/H] IN THE RAIN AND LOST 75% OF THE BRAKING POWER PLUS THE CAR STARTED TO SLIDE. NEEDLESS TO SAY THIS WAS A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE ENTIRE BRAKE SYSTEM ON A CAR THAT HAS A CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM NOTIFICATION FROM TOYOTA[ZJB] THAT WAS SENT TO ME WITH A WARNING OF SUCH OCCURRENCE. THIS IS DOWN RIGHT IRRESPONSIBLE TO A MAJOR CAR MANUFACTURER TO ALLOW THESE VEHICLES ON THE ROAD WITHOUT TESTING THE ENTIRE SYSTEM ON EACH OF THESE AFFECTED VEHICLES AND WITH FOR A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE TO OCCUR AND CAUSE PUBLIC HARM OR EVEN DEATH. I HAD JUST TAKEN THE VEHICLE FOR SERVICE A FEW WEEKS PRIOR WHERE I EXPLAINED THE SERVICE ADVISOR OF AN ISSUE WITH BRAKE PULSATION. HOWEVER, THE ENTIRE BRAKE SYSTEM WAS NOT THROUGHLY CHECKED AND WAS JUST TOLD THAT ITS THE FRONT ROTORS THAT ARE UNEVEN, THANK GOD I DID NOT FULLY LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CAUSE A CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENT AS IT WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN BODILY HARM TO MY FAMILY. I EXPECT THIS FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AGENCY TO USE IT'S AUTHORITY TO PREVENT SUCH OCCURRENCE TO THE TAX PAYING CITIZENS OF THIS NATION.
2011 TOYOTA PRIUS. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEFECTIVE BRAKES AND ELECTRICAL ISSUES. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE MASTER WARNING LIGHT, AIR BAG LIGHT, SLIP INDICATOR LIGHT, AND BRAKE SYSYTEM LIGHT ALL ILLUMINATED. *JS
2011 TOYOTA PRIUS IS DISPLAYING WARNING LIGHTS FOR BRAKE, TRACTION CONTROL, AND ABS. THE AUTOMOBILE CAN NO LONGER BRAKE AT THE SAME EFFECTIVENESS AS PRIOR. CAR SKIDS AND SLIPS WHEN BRAKING. BRAKE BOOSTER SOUNDS INTERMITTENTLY EVERY 10 SECONDS WHILE OPERATING. CALLED TOYOTA REGARDING RECALL, RECALL IS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR CARS WITH LESS THAN 150,000 MILES DESPITE THE DANGERS THIS POSES TO DRIVERS. MY AUTOMOBILE HAS 165,000 MILES. TOYOTA REQUIRING DRIVERS TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR KNOWN RECALL ISSUE. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, PARKED, AND WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE DRY AND SUNNY WHEN WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED.
MY CAR HAD THE HYBRID SYSTEM SOFTWARE UPDATE RECALL DONE AND IT STILL STALL WHILE DRIVING , EVEN AT HIGHWAY SPEED
The contact owns a 2011 Toyota Prius. The contact stated while driving 40-45 mph, the brake pedal temporarily disengaged on its own when the vehicle hit a bump in the roadway. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The contact stated that the failure recurred while driving at various speeds. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.
The contact owns a 2011 Toyota Prius. The contact stated that the ABS warning light was illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact stated that he had to apply extra force to the brake pedal while attempting to stop the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed him that the vehicle was under warranty; however, the warranty had expired. The contact insisted that he never received a notification about the warranty but was offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 TOYOTA PRIUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH SEVERAL UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 18V684000 (HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM) AND 14V053000 (HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL CAMPAIGNS HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. HAD THE TRACTION, ABS, AND BRAKE LIGHTS ALL POP ON. BRAKING FEELS A LITTLE DIFFERENT NOW. C1391 CODE WAS GIVEN BY MECHANIC. HE IS TALKING ABOUT BRAKE PARTS THAT WILL COST PARTS AND LABOR AROUND $2500. I CAN'T AFFORD THIS AND I NEED A CAR TO DRIVE, SO HOPING NO WRECKS. WE ARE A TOYOTA FAMILY WITH 4 NOW IN THE FAMILY. CALLED TO COMPLAIN TO TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS AND THEY SAID OUT OF WARRANTY, BUT THEY DID RECALL THE 2010 MODELS, EVEN THOUGH THE SAME PROBLEM IS WITH THE 2010-2015 AND SOME OTHER TOYOTAS. THEY BASICALLY BLEW ME OFF. *TR
I loss the ability to see the speedometer and fuel guage on my instrument cluster. This is the same problem the 2005 to 2009 recall for non working speedometer. Spoke with Toyota and explained what are the odds that I am having the same problem they said I we get a recall we will notify you. To have this repaired it will cost around 900 out of my pocket. So I have to rely on my GPS as a speedometer
WHILE DRIVING DOWN CITY STREET AT APPROX. 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER AND HAD TO BE EMERGENCY STEERED WITHOUT POWER STEERING TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, NARROWLY AVOIDING A CRASH. THE DASHBOARD SHOWED "CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM"; VEHICLE WAS INOPERABLE AND HAD TO BE TOWED. *TR
Around 100,000 miles the brake system has been sluggish and it appears the ABS system is failing. Currently the car has 118,617 miles and constantly exhibits sluggish and spongy braking. Hitting a pot hole or any type of bump while pressing the brakes can cause the ABS to light up temporarily and the brakes feel as if they release for 1 second and re-engage. When pressing the brakes there is a popping/air-like sound in the brake system constantly. Bleeding the brakes did not solve this issue. Through research I have discovered this is a complaint of many Prius owners about their brake actuator. It is a $1700+ part that, if fails, will cause the entire brake system to fail.
I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR A FEW RECALLS A FEW MONTHS AGO FOR THE FLASHING REPAIR AND NOW MY INVERTER/CONVERTER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I FELT LIKE IF I TOOK IT IN FOR THE REPAIRS LIKE MY CAR WOULD SUDDENLY GET WORSE DUE TO THE SO CALLED REPAIRS TO MANAGE THE DEFECTS BUT MY CAR STILL ENDED UP STALLING AND NEEDING MORE REPAIRS. I FEEL THIS IS NOT RIGHT AND EVEN SAW THERE WAS A CURRENT LAWSUIT DUE TO THE OVERHEATING COMPLICATION.
BOTH OF MY PRIUS LOW BEAMS WENT OUT AT THE SAME TIME, I THOUGHT IT WAS UNUSUAL AS BOTH HEADLIGHTS SHOULD NOT GO OUT SIMULTANEOUSLY. IT WAS LATE AT NIGHT AND I WAS RETURNING FROM CHURCH. I EITHER HAD TO DRIVE WITHOUT THE LOW BEAMS WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS OR DRIVE HIGH BEAMS WHICH BLINDS ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I LOOKED ONLINE AND READ SEVERAL PEOPLE HAD BOTH LOW BEAMS GO OUT SIMULTANEOUSLY. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM AND SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING AS IT CLEARLY PRESENTS A SAFETY RISK AT NIGHT AND PUTS OTHERS AT RISK BECAUSE I HAD TO USE THE HIGH BEAMS. THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH TOYOTA AND THEY SHOULD BE HELD LIABLE FOR PUTTING THE MOTORING PUBLIC AT RISK. DEALER INSPECTED VEHICLE AND CLAIMED BOTH LOW BEAMS BURNED OUT SIMULTANEOUSLY. I WAS ADVISED OF A SERVICE BULLETIN THAT EXPIRED ON OCTOBER 2019 THAT ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE BUT THEY SAID IT DIDN'T APPLY AND THAT IT HAD EXPIRED. I WAS CHARGED $250 FOR TWO HEADLIGHTS. WHEN IT COMES TO PUBLIC SAFETY THEIR SHOULD BE NO EXPIRATION AND THEY SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND WENT TO THE FLOORBOARD WHICH EXTENDED THE BRAKING DISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V684000 (HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MARIETTA TOYOTA LOCATED AT (750 COBB PKWY S, MARIETTA, GA 30060 (470) 938-8430). THE DEALER DECLINED TO OFFER THE REPAIR BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAD A SALVAGE TITLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED A SOFTWARE UPDATE OF THE HYBRID SYSTEM BUT DECLINED TO OFFER ANY ADDITIONAL REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,000.
MY HEADLIGHTS KEEP BURNING OUT. TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THIS COMMON PROBLEM AND IT REQUIRES A NEW ELECTRICAL HARNESS. THEY ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY TO FIX THIS, HOWEVER NOT EVERYONE GOT THE NOTICE (LIKE ME). IT EXPIRED IN NOV. 2019. I WAS QUOTED $700 TO FIX THIS, WHEN IT IS A KNOWN DEFECT IN THE CAR MANUFACTURING. I WOULD LIKE THIS BE A RECALL ITEM, SO EVERYONE CAN GET IT FIXED. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR IN TO GET IT FIXED THEY WERE FULLY AWARE OF MY PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR. IT IS UNSAFE TO HAVE THE HEADLIGHT ALL THE SUDDEN BURN OUT, USUALLY WHEN I FIRST TURN THEM ON, PLEASE HELP. IT HAPPENS ABOUT EVERY 3 MONTHS OR LESS. THANK YOU.
A FEW WEEKS AGO MY BRAKE AND ABS LIGHTS CAME ON AND MY BRAKE PEDAL CHANGED AND BECAME SPONGY. SINCE I WAS STILL ABLE TO BRAKE, I KEPT DRIVING THE CAR AND BECAME USED TO THE SPONGY PEDAL. THEN THE OTHER DAY I WAS RETURNING HOME FROM WORK WHEN THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME SUDDENLY HIT HIS BRAKES. I HAD TO QUICKLY HIT MINE AS WELL AND THE BRAKES LOCKED UP SENDING THE CAR SHARPLY TO THE RIGHT AND I CRASHED INTO THE GUARD RAIL CAUSING $1500 WORTH OF DAMAGE. I PICKED UP THE CAR TODAY AFTER HAVING THE DAMAGE REPAIRED BUT I STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.
TRACTION CONTROL, ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON TODAY AND BRAKE PRESSURE DROPPED SEVERELY WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. NOT SAFE TO DRIVE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 TOYOTA PRIUS. WHILE DRIVING A SQUILLING CAME FROM THE BRAKES. THE BRAKING DISTANCE WAS EXTENDED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERN THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE A SQUILLING NOISE WAS PRESENT COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AND WHEN PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL THE BRAKING DISTANCE WAS EXTENDED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL SERVICE CENTER SERVER CO TOYOTA(2841 PUKOLOA, HI) WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE ACTUATOR WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 144,000.
WHEN I WAS ABOUT TO EXIT WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY, MYABS, BRAKE, TCS LIGHT IS SUDDENLY ON, THE BRAKE NEED POWER TO PUSH AND REGENERATE CHARGER NOT WORKING WHEN BRAKE PEDAL PUSH, AND MAKE MPG DROP.
HEADLIGHT BULBS FAIL FREQUENTLY, SEVERAL TIMES PER YEAR. I CALLED TOYOTA IN JANUARY 2020. I WAS INFORMED THEY HAD A BRIEF WARRANTY EXTENSION TO COVER THE ISSUE, BUT THAT HAS ENDED. THEY'VE REFUSED TO OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THEY CLAIM THEY NOTIFIED ME OF THE ISSUE, BUT THEY CLEARLY DID NOT; THE ADDRESS THEY CLAIMED TO HAVE SENT IT TO WAS NOT MY ADDRESS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, BECAUSE THE BULBS FAIL SO FREQUENTLY AND ARE NOT OWNER-REPLACEABLE. I HOPE YOU CAN HELP. THANK YOU.
THE ABS TRACTION, CONTROL AND BRAKE LIGHT COME ON FOR 2 TO 3 HOURS. THEN THE LIGHT WILL GO OFF THROUGHOUT THE DAY AND THEN THE LIGHTS WILL POP BACK ON AND I JUST WENT TO STOP MY CAR WENT SIDEWAYS SCARIEST MOMENT EVER . THE OTHER VEHICLE ON THE 2 LANE ROAD I WAS ON SWERVED OFF THE ROAD TO AVOID HITTING ME BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WENT SIDEWAYS . AT THIS TIME ALL 3 LIGHTS WERE LIT UP . I DRIVE ABOUT 10 HOURS A DAY . PLEASE INVESTIGATE. (NEARLY DIED AS WELL AS THE GUY IN THE OTHER VEHICLE)
LOUD RATTLE, SHAKING IN MOTOR AREA. WAS FOUND TO BE A HEAD GASKET LEAK. USING A LOT OF ANTIFREEZE AND WHITE SMOKE OUT THE TAIL PIPE. WHILE IDLE OR IN MOTION AND WHILE GAS ENGINE IS RUNNING. STARTED INTERMITTENTLY AT FIRST AND VERY SHORT, EG. FOR A SECOND OR TWO, THEN GOT LOUDER, MORE OFTEN AND LASTED LONGER. THIS CAR HAS 128,000 MILES. THIS SAME ISSUE IS HAPPENING ON MY 2010 PRIUS WITH 250,000 MILES. I RESEARCHED THIS AND IT IS A COMMON PLACE WITH GEN 3 PRIUS CARS. I CAN NO LONGER DRIVE EITHER ONE OF MY PRIUS CARS SAFELY.
WHEN DRIVING OVER UNEVEN SURFACES LIKE POTHOLES AND APPLYING MY BREAKS, I FEEL A DELAYED RESPONSE UNTIL AFTER I'M OUT OF THE POTHOLE. IN OTHER WORDS; I APPLY BREAKS, GO OVER POT HOLE, BREAKS DISENGAGE EVEN THOUGH THE PEDAL IS PRESSED, AND REENGAGED ONCE I'M ON A SMOOTH SURFACE. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I FIRST BOUGHT MY CAR FIVE YEARS AGO, BUT I ALWAYS THOUGHT IT WAS ME OVER THINKING IT.
THE BRAKE SYSTEM APPEARS TO BREAK DOWN; ABS MODULE AND BRAKE BOOSTER LOSE POWER. THIS CAUSES BRAKING TO BE HARDER AND POTENTIAL SAFETY FOR THE VEHICLE TO LOSE ALL BRAKING CAPABILITY. THIS ISSUE OCCURS WHEN BRAKING. THERE APPEARS TO BE LESS AIR PRESSURE IN ASSIST IN THE BRAKING. READING ONLINE THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE FOR THE 2011 VEHICLE! I HAVE BEEN LUCKY TO MISS CLOSED-CALL HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AFTER SKIDDING. WHEN I APPLY BRAKES GOING DOWN THE RAMP, THE CAR SKIDS AND THE BRAKE DOESN'T STOP THE CAR UNTIL I GET PRETTY CLOSE TO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I AM MORE CONCERNED BECAUSE SOME PARTS OF THE ROAD ARE UNEVEN WHERE I LIVE THAT INCREASES THE CHANCE OF BRAKE FAILURE. IT HAPPENS ON SURFACE ROADS WHEN THERE IS A BUMP TOO. THE BRAKING DISTANCE INCREASE WHEN THE STREET IS WET.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GLENS FALLS TOYOTA (169 BROAD ST, GLENS FALLS, NY 12801, (518) 793-5611) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SPIRAL CABLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 1912090334. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 104,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 TOYOTA PRIUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK IN A PARKING SPACE, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO A SIGN POST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED DURING THE INDEPENDENT ACCELERATION. THERE WAS NO INJURIES SUSTAINED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
BRAKE, TRACTION CONTROL, TIRE PRESSURE, ABS LIGHTS ALL COME ON WHILE DRIVING. TOOK TO SHOP. CLAIMS IT'S THE BRAKE BOOSTER/ ACTUATOR PROBLEM. CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM
AFTER APPLYING BRAKES CAR CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD THROUGH GARAGE OPENING CRASHING INTO WALL AT END OF GARAGE BEFORE IT STOPPED. BRAKE WAS NOT SLOWING/STOPPING VEHICLE
MY CAR SPONTANEOUSLY STARTED SHOWING THE ABS SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT, THE "BRAKE" LIGHT, AND THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL INDICATOR LIGHT WITHOUT WARNING WHILE PARKED. AS SOON AS THIS HAPPENED AND I PUT IT IN MOTION, THE CAR BEGAN RESPONDING POORLY TO BRAKING, WITH INCREASED PRESSURE AND LACK OF RESPONSIVENESS. ADDITIONALLY, THE CAR IS RECEIVING BARELY ANY BATTERY CHARGE FROM THE BRAKES (A SMALL AMOUNT COMPARED TO THE NORMALLY FULL CHARGE), AND A WHIRRING NOISE CAN BE HEARD ABOUT EVERY 3 SECONDS ( THE SAME WHIRRING NOISE THAT OCCURS WHEN THE CAR IS STARTING UP, WHICH I THINK MAY BE RELATED TO THE BATTERY). THIS ISSUE HAPPENED WHILE THE CAR WAS AT REST, AND AFFECTS THE CAR WHILE IN MOTION AND AT REST. THE CAR FEELS UNSAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO UNPREDICTABILITY WITH THE BRAKES AND THEIR EFFECTIVENESS. I BELIEVE THIS ISSUE MAY BE ASSOCIATED WITH THE BRAKE ACTUATOR.
WARNING LIGHTS FOR TRACTION CONTROL, BRAKE, AVE ALL APPEARED, AND THEN BRAKING DRAMATICALLY CHANGED. ALMOST LIKE NOT HAVING POWER BRAKES. LIGHTS WENT OFF AND NORMAL BRAKE FINCTION RETURNED. THE WARNING INDICATOR LIGHTS GO ON AND OFF, AT RANDOM. CODE C1391 SHOWS WHEN SCANNED. THIS IS SAME SYMPTOM AS EXHIBITED BY 2010 MODEL YEAR PRIUSES COVERED BY RECALL. MINE IS 2011, EXACT SAME ISSUE BUT NOT COVERED BY RECALL. PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED AT LOW 5-25 MPH AND HIGHWAY SPEEDS (55-70 MPH) THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS IF THIS HAPPENS AT HIGH SPEED (HIGHWAY) AND THE PROBLEM OCCURS THERE IS A SUDDEN CHANGE IN BRAKING QUALITY AN ACCIDENT MAY RESULT. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS MOVING, AT ANY SPEED.
I HAVE AN EARLY YEAR 2011 TOYOTA PRIUS, THE BREAK BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER ASSEMBLY WORK INTERMEDIATELY. SOMETIMES IT SHOWS ERRORS WITH LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD AND BRAKES HAVE A LOT OF PLAY AND ARE SPONGY AND OTHER TIMES THEY WORK PERFECTLY NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND WHEN I WENT TO USE THE BREAKS IN A TRAFFIC SITUATION THEY ENDED UP HARDLY WORKING PUTTING MYSELF IN A HIGHER RISK FOR A COLLISION AND PUTTING MY LIFE ENDANGER.
THE CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM JUST CAME ON. WE HAVE OWNED THE CAR FOR LESS THAN 1 YEAR. ALTHOUGH IT WAS USED, IT HAS 116,000 MILES ON IT. WE DO NOT KNOW WHETHER IS A CALIFORNIA VEHICLE. WE BELIEVE IT IS A BATTERY ISSUE. THIS WOULD MEAN THAT THE BATTERY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED WHICH WOULD COST 2500 DOLLARS. THAT IS RIDICULOUS TO EXPECT WHEN WE JUST BOUGHT IT 1 YEAR AGO!
I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN AT A VERY BUSY LOS ANGELES INTERSECTION AND DURING NEEDED ACCELERATION TO TURN, THE PRIUS LOST POWER FOR A FULL SECOND AND THEN POWER CAME BACK SLOWLY AND I BARELY MADE IT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION, A T BONE COLLISION WAS IMMINENT, AND I MISSED GETTING HIT BY INCHES. ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH ILLUMINATED AND I WAS FRAZZLED. THE HYBRID BATTERY WAS 2/3 RDS FULL AT THE TIME. THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER INSTANCES WHERE THE CAR LOST POWER FOR BRIEF MOMENTS WHEN THE HYBRID BATTERY WAS LOW AND DIDNT THINK ANYTHING OF IT AT THE TIME. THE MPG HAS REMAINED BELOW 40 AND AFTER HYBRID FAILURE, AROUND 26. ALSO, I HAD A GEN 2 PRIUS AND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WENT BAD AROUND 150,000. CALIFORNIA PUNISHES CONSUMERS BY NOT ALLOWING AFTER MARKET CATS AND FORCES THEM TO BUY OEM AT AN EXTREME MARK UP. WITHOUT A PROPER CAT, YOU CANT HAVE CAL SMOG APPROVAL, NO APPROVAL, NO REGISTRATION. TOTAL WASTE OF RESOURCE WHEN THE ACTUAL COST OF REPLACEMENT OF THE CAT IS AROUND $2K AT THE DEALER. IF I LIVED IN AZ, AFTER MARKET IS $475. AT THAT POINT A CAR OF THAT AGE AND MILAGE IS WORTH AROUND $2-3K. BATTERY AND CAT REPLACEMENT COSTS SHOULD NOT ECLIPSE THE VALUE OF THE CAR. STILL DOESN'T MENTION THE REST OF THE MECHANICAL AND SAFTEY APPARATUS . IF AN ENGINE WORKS HALF TIME ON A HYBRID, WHY DOES THE CAT BURN OUT SO SOOOON? THE SCAM IS BAKED INTO THE VEHICLE AND OUR GOVT SUPPORTS IT. FIX CARB!
CAR STALLED PULLING INTO TRAFFIC. TOOK ABOUT 15 SEC TO RESTART. NO DIAGNOSTIC LIGHTS LIT UP ON DASH. CAR LOST POWER LAST MONTH AND ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AND ENGINE COULD NOT BE RESTARTED.HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. IT REPLACED VALVE ASSEMBLY FOR VACUUM AND REPROGRAMMED PCM. HOWEVER, THAT ISSUE WAS PRECEDED BY A CREEP OF DIAGNOSTIC LIGHTS (COURSE OF 1 HOUR), FROM CHECK OIL TO CHECK ENGINE, AND THEN IT COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN.
THE PRIUS HORN IS DEFECTIVE WHEN I PURCHASE THE CARL THE DEALER SOLD IT TO ME DEFECTIVE IT THE WASN'T WORKING AND THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME I SPOKE TO THE MANAGER AND HE WAS ABLE TO REPAIR IT TWO YEARS LATER SAME PROBLEM I BELIVE THAT IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE AIRBAG WHEN AM DRIVING AND MAKING A TURN THE HOUR TURNS ON WHEN I TURN THE STERING WHEEL AGAIN IT GOES OFF BUT IF I TRY USEING THE HORN NORMALY IT DOESN'T WORK AT ALL.
MY 2011 PRIUS VERY RECENTLY HAS STARTED MAKING AUDIBLY NOISE WHILE PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, WHETHER IN MOTION OR STOPPED. THIS NOISE CONTAINS CONTINUOUS WHIRRING, WHINING AND LOUD CLICKING NOISE. THESE NOISES WHERE NOT SEEN BEFORE COMPLETELY. I SPOKE TO DEALER MENTIONING A TSB PERTAINING TO THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE IN SPECIFIC AND WAS TOLD NOTHING CAN BE DONE UNTIL IT FAILS COMPLETELY, WHICH IS BAD, AS I HAVE A FAMILY OF 3 AND GOD FORBID IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY, A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD AND TOYOTA DEALER (RUDY LUTHER) RESPONSE IS IRRESPONSIBLE. I AM ACTUALLY WORRIED MORE NOW ON WAITING FOR THE BRAKES TO FAIL. THIS LOUD CONTINUOUS CLICKING NOISES OCCURS THE MOMENT CAR IS TURNED ON AND THE NOISES LINGERS ON FOR SHORT WHILE AFTER THE CAR IS TURNED OFF, AT MOMENTS I HAVE TO PRESS ON THE BRAKES REALLY HARDER THAN USUAL TO GET THE CAR SLOWED AND IS A TREMENDOUS PANICKY SITUATION. I AM REGISTERING AND REQUESTING FOR THIS TO BE LOOKED IMMEDIATELY BEFORE ANY CATASTROPHE.
BRAKES BECAME SLUGGISH. BRAKE/ABS/CAR SKID WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON.
After approximately 6 1/2 years of owning this 2011 Toyota Prius Hybrid (purchased in 2012), the brake pedal went completely to the floor and there was no braking. The brake fluid was completely FULL. Intermittently, this would occur, but brakes would come back operational in a few minutes. In 2022, the brake lights on dashboard started lighting up intermittently and go off. I had the complete brake pads, etc. replaced in June 2022. Last 1/2 of 2022 the entire brake dash lit up. I got into Toyota dealership 1/12/2023. They said the complete brake Master Cyclinder and Brake Pump replacement was required. They got the dash lights off. This car has only 133,023 miles. I finally checked the internet to see this is a TOYOTA issue! A recall on this brake assembly should be issued! I was unaware of this 5 years ago. This could cause a serious accident and should be fixed at Toyota's expense!
AUTOMOBILE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AND EVEN SPEED UP WITH FOOT ON THE BRAKES. WHILE STOPPED, WAITING TO TURN, CAR WOULD STILL ACCELERATE, EVEN SPEED UP, INTO ON-GOING TRAFFIC. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I PURCHASED THE AUTO, BUT IS NOW HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY AND FOR LONGER PERIODS. NEVER REPORTED BECAUSE IT ONLY HAPPENED FOR A BRIEF MOMENT. HOWEVER, IN THE LAST WEEK THIS HAPPENED TWICE AND I COULDN'T CONTROL THE AUTO. WAITING FOR CALL BACK FROM DEALER.
THE EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT, ABS, AND TRACTION LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALER AND THEY REPORTED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY WHEN THE LIGHTS INITIALLY CAME ON AND THE LIGHTS STAYED ON WHILE IT WAS MOVING (HIGHWAY AND CITY STREETS). THE 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS WAS RECALLED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. IT SEEMS THE 2011 CONTINUES TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.
WHILE DRIVING AT CA FREEWAY SPEED (65MPH) THE CAR GOES LIMP. THE ACCELERATOR FAILS TO WORK AND EVEN FLOORING THE VEHICLE MAKES NO DIFFERENCE. AT THIS POINT THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE DECREASES AND I HAVE TO IMMEDIATELY PULL TO THE SHOULDER. THE "CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM" ALERT SHOWS ON THE DASH AND ALSO ELECTRIC POWER STEERING AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR THE PAST YEAR AND I HAVE TAKEN IT TO SEVERAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS WITH NO RESOLVE. I HAVE SPENT A TOTAL OF $4500 WITHOUT TOYOTA OF VALLEJO OR THE NOW BANKRUPT TOYOTA OF FAIRFIELD SOLVING THE ISSUE. WE WERE ON FREEWAY WHEN AN ODD SMELL WAS DETECTED. THERE WERE SEVERAL LARGE TRUCKS IN THE AREA AND WE PASSED OFF THE SMELL TO THE TRUCKS. A COUPLE OF MILES LATER THE PASSENGER SAID, "THE FLOOR IS ON FIRE!" AT THIS POINT, AN ABUNDANCE OF SMOKE APPEARED ABOVE THE DASHBOARD ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE. WE EXITED THE FREEWAY, FOUND A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND WERE ABLE TO PUT OUT THE FIRE. THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER WAS INFORMED BUT NO ACTION WAS TAKEN. THE INSURANCE COMPANY HAS TOTALED THE VEHICLE. WE ARE AWAITING THE SETTLEMENT CHECK. WE HAVE NO IDEA WHAT STARTED THE FIRE. THERE WERE NO INDICATORS I.E. WARNING LIGHTS/BUZZERS, ETC. PRIOR TO THE FIRE. THE AREA UNDER THE DASHBOARD ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE IS A CHARRED MASS. THEREIN A LARGE HOLE AT THE TOP OF THE DASH NEAR WHERE THE SPEAKER FOR THAT SIDE IS HOUSED. *BF*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 TOYOTA PRIUS. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD SOUND. HE NOTICED THAT THE SUN ROOF EXPLODED AND THE GLASS SHATTERED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. DCH TOYOTA OF TORRANCE (2909 CA-1, TORRANCE, CA 90505, (424) 271-2340) INFORMED THE CONTACT TO BRING IN THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED WITH OTHER VEHICLES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,360.
BRAKE LIGHT, ANTILOCK LIGHT, VEHICLE STABILITY LIGHT, AND YELLOW TRAINS CAME ON. HAVING PROBLEM WITH BRAKING. DOES NOT NOT SEEM TO BRAKE AS GOOD. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING.

WHEN I BRAKE ON AN UNEVEN SURFACE (POTHOLES, BUMPS, ETC) THE CAR WILL SOMETIMES JUMP FORWARDS. I AM UNSURE WHETHER IT IS REFERRED TO AS BRAKES SLIPPING BUT IT IS EXACTLY THE SAME THING THAT I'VE READ HAPPENING TO MANY PEOPLE. IT WAS AN ISSUE IN THE 2010, WHICH LED TO A RECALL, YET THERE IS NO RECALL ON THE 2011. IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE, PEOPLE HAVE SAID THAT THE ACTUATOR WAS THE PART THAT NEEDED REPLACING, YET IT IS A $3-4K PART AND SHOULD NOT BE LEFT UP TO THE CONSUMER. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY TOYOTA. IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING EVER SINCE I'VE OWNED THE CAR. I HAVE BEEN LUCKY SO FAR THAT IT HASN'T ACCELERATED ME INTO ANOTHER CAR OR PERSON.

DASH BOARD LIGHTS LIGHT UP WITH ALL WARNING LIGHTS. VEHICLE LOSES POWER....CAN DRIVE A MILE OR SO WITH ALMOST NO POWER...THEN VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN. DASH PANEL READS CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM CONDITIONS ARE EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE ZE3 WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM DESCRIBES. HOWEVER THE DTC CODE IS SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT SO DEALER AND TOYOTA WILL NOT FIX INVERTER. THE CAR IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AS THE SYMPTOMS APPEAR RANDOMLY, USUALLY AFTER AN ACCELERATION OF THE VEHICLE PUTS LOAD ON ENGINE. PLS HELP ME
