WATER SEAMS TO GATHER ON THE FRONT PASSENGER FLOOR MAT. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP CLOSEST TO ME AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS A LEAK FROM THE WINDSHIELD AREA AND TECHNICIAN NEEDS TO ASSES THE SITUATION BUT SINCE I HAD 37,000 MILES ON THE CAR IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED. THE WATER GATHERS ONLY WHEN IT RAINS. MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS THAT IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN CONDENSATION FROM THE AC BUT THAT IS NOT THE CASE. THIS IS RAIN WATER ENTERING THE CABIN. 2006 RAV4. *TR
HAD A CLUNKING SOUND IN STEERING COLUMN WHEN TURNING AND BACKING UP. STEERING SHAFT WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. PROBLEM RETURNED AND REPAIRED ON AUG. 27,2012 AT 73,852 MILES AND COST $720. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 50 YEARS AND NEVER HAD A CAR THAT HAD A STEERING PROBLEM LIKE THIS. I WAS TOLD THAT IF I DIDN'T HAVE IT REPAIRED THE STEERING COLUMN COULD LOCK UP. I SEE THERE HAS BEEN ALOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM IN 2006-2007 RAV4'S CAN SOMEONE LOOK INTO THIS? *TR
I HAVE 2006 RAV4 SPORT WITH 52K MILES ON IT THAT IS MAKING A CLUNKING NOISE WHEN I TURN AT LOW SPEEDS. THERE IS TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ABOUT THIS ISSUE: ST001-08 FOR STEERING. I CAN LIVE WITH THE NOISE BUT I WANT TO KNOW IF THIS WILL BE A SAFETY ISSUE. I DO NOT WANT TO LOSE STEERING CONTROL IF I DO NOT HAVE THIS REPLACED SINCE THE WARRANTY FOR THE VEHICLE EXPIRED AT 36K OR 36 MONTHS. *TR
I WAS HEADING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION AND STRUCK AN ONCOMING VEHICLE, WHICH FAILED TO YIELD TO ME. I STRUCK HIM IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SECTION OF A FORD RANGER. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED YET BUT IS WAITING FOR THE OTHER INSURANCE COMPANY. *TR

AT THE END OF 2008 I TOOK MY 06" RAV4 IN FOR IT'S PRE-PAID MAINTENANCE AND TOLD THE SERVICE ATTENDANT THAT MY STEERING WHEEL WAS MAKING A STRANGE NOISE WHEN I WAS TURNING. I SAID MAYBE IT JUST NEEDS STEERING FLUID. HE GOT IN AND TURNED THE WHEEL A COUPLE OF TIMES AND SAID HE FELT IT WOULD BE FINE. I MENTIONED THE NOISE AT EACH OF THE FOLLOWING APPTS. AND WAS TOLD BASICALLY THE SAME THING. WELL NOW MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY NOW KNOW THAT IT IS THE PROBLEM REFERRED TO AS SERVICE BULLETIN DATED 10-20-2008. THEY ESTIMATED THE REPAIR WOULD COST $1,001.00 AT MY EXPENSE. I FEEL THEY PUT OF THE DIAGNOSIS UNTIL AFTER MY WARRANTY RAN OUT INTENTIONALLY SO TOYOTA WOULD NOT HAVE TO FIX IT. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ASAP BEFORE INNOCENT PEOPLE ARE KILLED. *TR
THIS IS IN REFERENCE TO THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM REFERENCED RECENTLY. I HAVE HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE OF THE CAR JUST NOT STARTING. I DISCOVERED THAT IT IS RELATED TO THE STICK SHIFT. IT LOOKS LIKE IT IS ENGAGED. IF YOU GIVE IT THE TINIEST JIGGLE IT ENGAGES AND THE CAR WILL START. I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE DEAL IS, BUT PLANNED TO BRING IT UP WHEN I TAKE CAR TO BE SERVICED NEXT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA RAV4. THE CONTACT HEARD A THUMPING NOISE WITHIN THE STEERING WHEEL OF HER VEHICLE. THE FAILURE ONLY OCCURRED WHILE MAKING TURNS. OVER THE PAST THREE WEEKS, THE NOISE OCCURRED MORE FREQUENTLY. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 62,248 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.
FIRST THING IN THE MORNING AND SOMETIMES AFTER WORK, CAR WILL NOT START. DASHBOARD LIGHTS COME ON, BATTERY CONDITION INDICATOR CHECKS GOOD. HAD BATTERY TESTED, BATTERY IS GOOD. OF COURSE, WHEN THE CAR DOES START AND I DRIVE IT IN TO A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP, THE DEALERSHIP CAN'T FIND A PROBLEM. NO PROBLEMS WITH THE STARTER. NO INDICATIONS OF STARTER SLUGGISH OR LOW BATTERY POWER. THESE SYMPTOMS HAVE HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, AND FORTUNATELY THE CAR WOULD START. *TR
STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT NOISE / LOOSE WHEN MAKING TURNS. THE SHAFT HAS NOT "FAILED" YET, HOWEVER IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN. REPAIR HAS NOT BEEN MADE YET, PARTS ARE BACKORDERED. VEHICLE OUT OF WARRANTY BY 3650 MILES, SO FAR TOYOTA WILL ONLY PAY HALF. *TR

THE STEERING COLUMN AND/OR STEERING WHEEL MAKES A CLUNK, POP AND KNOCK TYPE NOISE WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED LEFT OR RIGHT. I HAVE A 2006 RAV4 TOYOTA SUV. MY GAS PEDAL HAS BEEN STICKING SINCE 2007. I HAVE HAD A ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF IT, WHERE I HAD OVER $7000.00 WORTH OF DAMAGE DONE TO REPAIR IT. AT A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. I MENTION ABOUT THE PEDAL, BUT NO ONE BELIEVED ME, SO I JUST DROPPED IT. IT IS STILL HAPPENING SOMETIMES, WHERE I HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF FOR A WHILE, THEN TURN IT BACK ON AND THEN DRIVE IT. I TELEPHONED TOYOTA ABOUT IT AND THEY GAVE ME A CASE# FOR IT. THEN AFTER 3 DAYS AFTER THEY GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER, THEY TOLD ME THAT I HAVE TO HAVE ANOTHER ACCIDENT IN THE RAV4, TAKE IT TO A DEALERSHIP AND SEE IF THEY CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN AGAIN. I COULD BE DIED THEN!!. WHEN I HAD THE ACCIDENT, NOT ONLY DID I HAVE DAMAGE TO MY CAR, BUT I DID DAMAGE TO A BUILDING BECAUSE MY CAR WHEN OUT OF CONTROL AND BACK IN TO THE SIDE OF A BUILDING. A POLICE REPORT WAS DONE, BUT IT WAS NOT MENTION IN THE POLICE REPORT. THE DAMAGE TO THE BUILDING HAD TO BE MORE THAN A THOUSAND DOLLARS AND COMPENSATION FOR THE PEOPLE INSIDE IT. IT HAPPEN AT A GAS STATION IN BUFORD, GEORGIA. IT SEEMS LIKE TOYOTA DO NOT WANT ANYONE TO KNOW THAT THEIR GAS PEDALS HAS BEEN STICKING FOR MORE YEARS THAN THEY OWN UP TO. I AM LEASING MY RV4 AND HAVE ONE MORE YEAR LEFT IN MY LEASE. PLEASE PRAY THAT I CAN CONTROL MY GAS PEDAL WHILE I AM TRYING TO COMPLETE THIS LEASE WITHOUT GETTING KILLED. *TR

PURCHASED A 2006 TOYOTA RAV4 NEW IN 2006. REPLACED NEW BRAKE SHOES IN EARLY 2008 ON JULY 19TH BRAKES STOPPED WORKING, BUT WAS ABLE TO AVOID ACCIDENT AFTER TWO YEARS I AM TOLD THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS LEAKING. *TR
EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION ON MANY OCCASIONS ESPECIALLY AFTER GOING AT SUBSTANTIAL SPEEDS SUCH AT 45-50 MILES AND HOUR WHERE THE CAR WILL SURGE TO EVEN HIGHER SPEEDS WITH CONSTANT OR LITTLE PRESSURE ON THE GAS. THIS CAR DRIVES UNLIKE ANY CAR WE'VE HAD BEFORE IN THAT YOU CAN'T MAINTAIN CONSTANT PRESSURE ON THE THROTTLE YOU HAVE TO CONSTANTLY ACCELERATE AND THEN DRIFT IN ORDER TO STAY WITHIN SPEED LIMITS. KEEPING SLIGHT PRESSURE ON THE THROTTLE WILL CAUSE IT TO CONSTANTLY ACCELERATE, NOT MAINTAIN ITS SPEED. *TR

THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR RECREATE THE FAILURE ON FOUR OCCASIONS. HE WILL NOTIFY THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
MY 2006 TOYOTA RAV4/ SPORT HAS STEERING CLUNKING. THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM IN OTHER YEARS OF TOYOTA RAV4'S. I FEEL THAT WITH ALL THE COMPLAINTS THAT I HAVE BEEN READING ABOUT WITH THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL THAT A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE DIES. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING SHAFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FIRST PROBLEM I HAD WITH MY RAV-4 IS WHEN I WAS DRIVING AND WAS ATTEMPTING TO STOP. I HAD TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES AND ALL MY WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON THE ABS LIGHT THE TRACTION CONTROL, THE BRAKE LIKE. I TOOK IT IN AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE ABS MODULE. I AM BEGINNING TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS PRIOR TO LEADING UP TO THE INCIDENT HAVE TO APPLY MORE PRESSURE THE ABS LIGHT WILL COME ON THE BRAKE LIGHT WILL COME ON AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON FOR NO REASON SOMETIMES EVEN WHEN I AM SITTING STILL AT A RED LIGHT. I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATE THAT NOTHING IS GOING ON. *TR
AFTER A SESSION OF HEAVY RAIN WATER LEAKS ONTO THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR BOARD. IT ONLY HAPPENS AFTER PROLONGED RAIN AND SEEMS TO BE LEAKING FROM SOMEWHERE BENEATH THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. I'VE READ ONLINE COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR

ON MARCH 17, 2008, WHILE COASTING INTO A PARKING SPACE WITH HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THE ENGINE REVVED AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD UNDERGONE REGULARLY SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE BEFORE THE CRASH OCCURRED. THE WEATHER WAS DRY ON THE DAY OF THE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS RELEASED BACK TO THE CONTACT; HOWEVER, IT HAD TO BE TAKEN BACK TO THE SHOP DUE TO RIDING ROUGHLY WHEN PLACED INTO OVERDRIVE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER WAS LOCKING EVERYTIME THE TRANSMISSION WAS PLACED INTO OVERDRIVE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND THE CONTACT WAS NOT CITED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A KNOWN DEFECT BUT THERE WERE NO RELATED RECALLS. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT HE WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COSTS. MY 2006 TOYOTA RAV4 SPORT ONLY HAS ABOUT 20000 MILES BUT I ALREADY CHANGED 3 OF 4 TIRES. FIRST TIRE FLATTENED ON HIGHWAY, THEY WERE UNFIXABLE SO I BOUGHT NEW TIRES. THE TIRE SHOP FOUND AN INCH CUT BETWEEN THREAD. ABOUT ONE MONTH LATER ANOTHER TIRE FLATTENED, THEY FOUND THE SAME KIND OF CUT LIKE THE FIRST TIRE. ABOUT ANOTHER MONTH LATER THE THIRD TIRE FLATTENED, THIS TIME THEY FOUND A PINHOLE BUT THEY DID NOT FIND ANY NAIL. THREE MONTHS IN A ROW HAPPENED TO THREE DIFFERENT TIRES ? *TR

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
MY NEW 2006 TOYOTA RAV 4 WAS IN FOR REPAIRS IN FEBRUARY OF 2008. THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 39,817 MILES, JUST AFTER THE 36,000 MILE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. EVERY TIME THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED THE STEERING MADE A LOUD CLUNKING SOUND. IT GOT WORSE IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS AND THE DEALER SAID IT WAS WORN. I ASKED WHY AFTER ONLY 39,817 MILES AND THEY COULD NOT EXPLAIN. NOW I HAVE 81,000 MILES AND THE SOUND IS BACK AND THE SHAFT HAS TO BE REPLACE FOR ANOTHER $4-5 HUNDRED DOLLARS. I HAVE HAD CARS WITH 250,000 MILES ON THEM AND NEVER HAD TO REPLACE A STEERING SHAFT. NOW I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE 2 IN LESS THEN 80,000 MILES. I FEEL THIS IS A DEFECT THAT TOYOTA IS COVERING UP. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA RAV4. WHILE PARKED THE CONTACT NOTICED THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR BOARD WAS EXTREMELY SOAKED WITH WATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC. THE TECHNICIANS STATED THE PLASTIC COWL COVER AND SEAL PLATE ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER THE REPAIRS AND THE FLOORBOARD BECAME MOLDED IN ADDITION TO CONDENSATION BUILDING ON THE WINDOWS FROM THE MOISTURE IN THE VEHICLE. THE WATER BEGAN TO FREEZE DUE TO THE COLD TEMPERATURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,825.

THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE HE WAS TRAVELING OUT OF TOWN AND HE DISCOVERED HE HAD DIFFICULTY STOPPING THE VEHICLE TWICE. FIRST AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, AND ANOTHER TIME AT A TOLL BOOTH. ON BOTH OCCASIONS, THE ENGINE REVVED VERY LOUDLY. THE SECOND INCIDENT HAPPENED ONE YEAR LATER AND THE CONSUMER HAD TO QUICKLY PLACE THE GEAR IN NEUTRAL AND PRESS HARD ON THE BRAKES IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS EXAMINED, AND THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE MAT AND IT WAS SUBSEQUENTLY REMOVED. THE LAST EPISODE WAS ON FEBURARY 13, 2010. UPON ARRIVING AT AN ESTABLISHMENT DRIVING 20- 30 MPH, HE ATTEMPTED TO STOP, BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND TO THE BRAKES BEING APPLIED. THE CONSUMER WAS FINALLY ABLE TO STOP AFTER PUTTING THE GEAR IN NEUTRAL. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA RAV4. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE DRIVER STRUCK A CONCRETE POST AND NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE WEATHER WAS RAINY, WINDY, AND VERY COLD. THE DRIVER SUFFERED CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE AND DIED. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPAIRED, BUT THE CONTACT DOES NOT WANT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND DOES NOT BELIEVE THAT IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAS MAJOR FAILURES AND SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT HAS PICTURES. THE POWERTRAIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 41,000.
I PURCHASED A NEW 4 CYLINDER 2006 TOYOTA RAV 4 IN APRIL 2006. AT ABOUT 30,000 MILES I NOTICED A SUBTLE CLUNKING NOISE WHEN MAKING RIGHT TURNS AT A SLOW SPEED. THE MECHANICS ASSIGNED TO EVALUATE THE SITUATION AGREED THAT THERE WAS THE CLUNKING NOISE AND GAVE ME THE TOYOTA T-SB-0318-08. DETAILS: THE VEHICLE HAS FREQUENT PROBLEMS WITH ACCELERATION WHEN COLD. CAR HAS NO POWER WHEN TRYING TO ENTER TRAFFIC. I WILL STEP ON THE GAS, BEGIN MOVING, THEN THE ENGINE WILL BOG DOWN AND I WILL HAVE NO ACCELERATION AT ALL. I HAVE TAKEN THIS UP TO MY DEALER, AND THEIR EXPLANATION IS THAT NOTHING IS WRONG. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA RAV4. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ENGAGED THERE WAS A GRINDING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON SEVERAL SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR THE IDENTICAL FAILURE. THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE BRAKE PADS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE BRAKES WERE FUNCTIONING NORMALLY. THERE WERE NO RESOLUTIONS. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE FLOATERS WITHIN THE CALIPERS FAILED AND THE BRAKE PADS WERE SEVERELY WORN. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,184. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
THIS DEFECT IS WITH REGARD TO MY 2006 TOYOTA RAV4. TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL AT LOW SPEED CAUSES MULTIPLE LOUD CLUNKING SOUNDS, AND THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES ALONG WITH CLUNK. IT'S ALMOST LIKE A RATCHETING BEHAVIOR ON THE SHAFT CONNECTING THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE STEERING MECHANISM. THIS DEFECT BEGAN AT APPROXIMATELY 40,000 MILES. THE CAR HAS 83,000 MILES AND THE CLUNKING IS BECOMING MORE PRONOUNCED. THERE IS AT LEAST ONE TOYOTA TECHNICAL BULLETIN ON THE DEFECT: #ST001-08. IT DESCRIBES A NEW SERIES OF PARTS REDESIGNED TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. WHEN I BROUGHT CAR TO DEALER FOR REPAIR, THEY SAID PARTS ARE ON BACKORDER AND TOYOTA ISN'T OFFERING A RECALL OR ASSISTANCE IN COVERING THE COST OF THE REPAIR. AS IT REQUIRES REDESIGNED PARTS, IS A PREVALENT DEFECT, AND DIRECTLY INVOLVES THE STEERING INTEGRITY OF THE VEHICLE, I WOULD CONTEND THAT TOYOTA SHOULD RECALL THE AFFECTED CARS AND REPLACE THESE DEFECTIVE PARTS WITHOUT CHARGE AND WITHOUT DELAY. *TR
I HAVE A LOUD KNOCKING SOUND IN THE STEERING COLUMN OF MY RAV4 WHEN I MAKE LOW-TURN SPEEDS. I HAVE HAD THE CAR AT THE DEALER THREE TIMES AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. CONSUMER STATES ISSUES WITH FRONT STEERING, SUSPENSION AND DRIVE TRAIN *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE PROBLEMS STARTED WITH AN ABNORMAL NOISE IN THE STEERING SYSTEM AND CONTINUED WITH OTHER PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH THE STEERING, FRONT SUSPENSION AND DRIVE TRAIN. IN NOVEMBER 2007 (VEHICLE MILEAGE: 11,989), I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER DUE TO THE SAME NOISE. I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. IN DECEMBER 2007 I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER ONCE AGAIN (VEHICLE MILEAGE: 12,717) WITH STILL THE SAME PROBLEM AND NOISE. DEALER PERSONNEL DETERMINED A DAMAGED STEERING SHAFT ASSEMBLY WHICH WAS ORDERED (PART # 45260-42090) AND INSTALLED FOR THE SECOND TIME. WE ARE NOW IN SEPTEMBER 2008 AND MY RAV 4 (VEHICLE MILEAGE: 20,855) IS BECOMING NOISY AGAIN WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE NO QUESTION IN MY MIND TAT THE STEERING SHAFT ASSEMBLY WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED FOR A THIRD TIME.
