THE SIDE AIRBAG CONNECTOR FAILED TO WORK SPORADICALLY. WHEN IT FAILED TO PASS THE ONBOARD TEST, THE WHOLE AIRBAG SYSTEM STOPS WORKING, WHICH BECOMES A SAFETY HAZARD.
I BOUGHT A 2006 RAV4 LIMITED FROM TOYOTA OF ELIZABETH CITY IN NC. THIS RAV4 IS NICE AND RUNS WELL, HOWEVER IT CONSUMES ABOUT 1 QUART OF OIL EVERY 1000 MILES. I SPOKE WITH THE PREVIOUS OWNER, WHOM INFORMED ME THAT HE EXPRESSED THE ISSUE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE HE TRADED THIS VEHICLE IN AT. THE DEALER FAILED TO LET US KNOW ABOUT THIS EXTENSIVE TSB RELATING TO THE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. IT IS NOT NICE TO SELL A VEHICLE WITH A WELL KNOWN ACTIVE TSB. IT IS FURTHER UNACCEPTABLE FOR TOYOTA TO NOT HAVE A ALL OUT RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. WILL BE CALLING TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE.
THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE. SHE COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. LUCKILY SHE DID NOT HAVE AN ACCIDENT. THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING WAS REPLACED BY MILTON RUBEN TOYOTA AT THE COST OF $1134.00.
AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS AND SOMETIMES QUICK ACCELERATION ALL THE LIGHTS COME ON THE DASH AND YOU LOSE ALL STEERING , IT LOCKS UP THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES , TO MY SEVENTEEN YEAR OLD DAUGHTER SHE WAS LUCKY THERE WAS NOT A CORNER WHEN IT HAPPENED SHE WOULD'VE SHOT STRAIGHT OFF THE ROAD . THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS I HAVE LOOKED IT UP AND THERE HAS BEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS OF THIS SAME ISSUE ON THE RAV4S AND SEVERAL OTHER TOYOTA'S. IF I KNEW THIS ISSUE WAS A PROBLEM I WOULD NOT OF PURCHASED THIS CAR FOR MY DAUGHTER.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND OPENED CASE NUMBER: 1801053296. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
IT WAS RECALLED FOR MOTOR OIL CONSUMPTION. BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO TAKE IT FORBPERSONAL REASONS. RECALL EXPIRED IT CAN NOT BE FIXED. NOW CAR IS CONSUMING ALOT OF OIL. DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO.
NOTICED AT ABOUT 98,000 MILES THE VEHICLE WAS USING MORE OIL THAN EXPECTED. I NOW FIND AFTER A DEALER TEST THAT THE VEHICLE IS CONSUMING OIL AT THE RATE OF 2 QUARTS PER 1200 MILES. I FEEL THAT THIS IS EXCESSIVE AND IN SPITE OF THE FACT THAT IT IS PAST THE WARRANTY PERIOD WHICH WAS MOSTLY KEPT QUIET BY TOYOTA I FEEL THEY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL THE REPAIRS FOR A LONGER PERIOD OF TIME TO ALLOW ALL THE ONES INCLUDING MYSELF AN OPPORTUNITY TO GET THE REPAIRS. TEST WAS DONE ON 12/22/2017.
WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED ENGINE ATTEMPTS TO MAINTAIN SPEED, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO STOP. AFTER CAR HAS STOPPED, STEPPING ON THE GAS PEDAL AGAIN MAY ONLY ALLOW CAR TO MOVE FORWARD VERY SLOWLY. THIS STARTED HAPPENING WITHIN THE LAST MONTH AND HAS OCCURRED FOUR TIMES SO FAR. IT HAPPENS WITH THE CAR IN MOTION AND EITHER TURNING OR GOING STRAIGHT. SO FAR ALL INCIDENTS WERE WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS. ALL SAFETY RECALLS ARE UP TO DATE. DEALER SAYS APPLYING BRAKE PRESSURE DISENGAGES THE ACCELERATOR, BUT THIS IS NOT HAPPENING. THE GAS PEDAL MOVES FREELY AND THERE IS NO INTERFERENCE FROM THE FLOOR MAT. THE CAR IS AT THE DEALER NOW.
PURCHASED VEHICLE WITH 159,000 MILES. NOTICED IT USED AN INORDINATE AMOUNT OF OIL. ENGINE SIEZED UP AND FAILED AT 165,000 MILES.
HAD A RECALL ON THE LOWER SUSPENSION ARMS OF MY 2006 RAV 4 WHICH I WENT AND HAD FIXED. IT IS NOW A NON ADJUSTABLE BAR WHICH MEAN THE REAR TIRES OF MY CAR CAN NOT BE ALIGNED. THIS IS CAUSING SEVERE WEAR OF THE INNER SIDE OF MY TIRE WHICH IS A HAZARD AND COULD CAUSE A MAJOR TIRE BLOW OUT WITHOUT THE OWNER EVEN KNOWING. YOU CANNOT SEE THE WEARING OF THE TIRE FROM THE OUTER SIDE. I HAVE CONTACTED TOYOTA AND THEY TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. THEY INSISTED THAT THE SUSPENSION ARM IS ADJUSTABLE AND THAT IT ISN'T CAUSING MY PROBLEM. MY MECHANIC IS MORE THAN WILLING TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT MY CONCERN. SINCE I HAVE BEEN MADE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE I HAVE REPLACED MY TIRES ONCE (I TOOK PICTURES OF THE TIRES THAT WERE REPLACED) AND SINCE THEN I HAVE OBSERVED WEAR TO THE INNER RIM OF THE NEW TIRES. LUCKY FOR ME WHEN I WENT TO MY AUTO SHOP FOR MY OIL CHANGE THEY MADE ME AWARE OF THIS MOST SERIOUS ISSUE. I COULD OF HAD A BLOW OUT AND CAUSED OR BEEN INVOLVED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT!
2006 TOYOTA RAV4 WITH 51,000 MILES: MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY GOING 70 MPH (THE SPEED LIMIT) AND ALL OF A SUDDEN ALL THE LIGHTS CAME ON IN THE DASH AND CAR DIED, LEFT MY DAUGHTER STRANDED ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. HAD IT TOWED AND IT WAS AN ENGINE FAILURE. YES, ENGINE FAILED AT 51,000 MILES. OUT OF WARRANTY AND TOYOTA WON'T DO A THING ABOUT IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA RAV4. WHILE DRIVING, THERE WAS EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION WITHOUT WARNING. AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST DETERMINED THAT THERE WERE TWO QUARTS OF OIL LOST WITHIN 1,100 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JONES TOYOTA (1508 BELAIR ROAD, BELAIR, MD 21014) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PISTON RINGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WOULD NOT CONSIDER THE WARRANTY AND THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 136,900.
"TAKATA RECALL", I HAD AN ACCIDENT IN WHICH MY VEHICLE FRONT END COLLIDED WITH A TREE. MY AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY, AND UPPER SEAT BELT DID NOT LOCK CAUSING INJURY TO MY FACE. I WAS ON A CITY STREET IN MOTION. I WAS TAKEN TO HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR THE SRS WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED INDICATING THAT THE AIR BAGS HAD BEEN DEACTIVATED.PULLED OFF OF ROAD IMMEDIATELY AND TURNED THE ENGINE OFF.AFTER WAITING APRX. 5 MIN. PROCEEDED TO RESTART ENGINE AND LIGHT WENT OUT.AS I RETURNED TO THE ROAD AFTER 2 MIN. THE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN AND HAS REMAINED ON.
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. THREE WEEKS AGO, AUGUST 2017, AT 100,000 MILES I HAVE HAD TO ADD 1 QUART OF OIL EVERY OTHER WEEK.
THE CAR STARTED KNOCKING, WENT STRAIGHT TO A SHOP AND IT TURNS OUT IT HAD NO OIL IN IT. WAS DUE FOR AN OIL CHANGE BUT NOT TO THE POINT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN OUT OF OIL AND HAD NOT SHOWN ANY SIGNS OF LEAKING.
VEHICLE WAS PART OF RECALL ID: 16V596000. THE REAR SUSPENSION ARMS THAT WERE INSTALLED AS A CORRECTIVE ACTION FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY TEAM TOYOTA LOCATED IN LAWRENCEVILLE, NEW JERSEY. IT HAS BEEN ABOUT 4 WEEKS SINCE DIOGNOCED AND BOTH TOYOTA AND THE DEALER ARE TRYING TO FIND WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE NEEDED REPAIR. I THINK THIS PLACES THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS AT RISK BECAUSE NEITHER PARTY WILL TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE IMPROPER PARTS AND/OR INSTALLATION.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TEAM TOYOTA OF PRINCETON, NEW JERSEY (2871 US HWY 1, LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ 08648; 609-883-4200 OR 1-800-521-0623) AROUND 8/15/2016 TO HAVE THE REAR LOWER SUSPENSION ARMS REPLACED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V596000 (SUSPENSION). APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR LOWER SUSPENSION ARMS FAILED AND WERE CAUSING UNEVEN WEAR OF THE REAR TIRES. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE REAR LOWER SUSPENSION ARMS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OPENED CASE NUMBER: 1709020227. THE MANUFACTURER WAS IN THE PROCESS OF DETERMINING WHO WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 1707072335. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000.
MY RAV4 HAS BEEN CONSUMING EXCESSIVE OIL AND WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE TOYOTA SERVICE STATION, I AM TOLD IT NEEDS ENGINE OVERHAUL TO INCLUDE PISTON AND QUOTED 5258$. WHEN ENGINE OIL SIGN ON DASHBOARD HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE JUNE 2016, AND EVERY 5000 MILES THE SERVICE CENTER TOPS THE OIL IT GOT FIXED. AND INTERMITTENTLY, I HAD TO TOP THE OIL. THE MATTER HAS GONE UNDIAGNOSED UNTIL 6/28/17. WHEN I LOOK BACK IT WAS A GLOBAL ISSUES WITH TOYOTA HTTP://WWW.TOYOTAPROBLEMS.COM/TRENDS/EXCESSIVE-OIL-CONSUMPTION/ I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY LETTERS FROM TOYOTA ABOUT THIS ISSUE. TOYOTA SAYING THE WARRANTY EXTENSION PROGRAM EXPIRED IN OCTOBER 2016 AND THEY WILL NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE AND NOW I AM FACED WITH A BIG BILL.
ENGINE STARTED EXCESSIVELY BURNING OIL AT APPROX 110,000 MILE MARK. TOOK TO DEALER. WARRANTY WAS STILL VALID. ENGINE WOULD BE ALMOST DRY AT 3,000 MILE MARK. THEY DID A CONSUMPTION TEST, SAID IT PASSED. WHEN I ASKED HOW THAT COULD BE SINCE IT SHOULDN'T BE DRY AT 3,000 MILE MARK. THEY TOLD ME TO WATCH IT AND COME BACK. WHEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN, WAY BEFORE NEXT OIL CHANGE WAS NEEDED, 3,300 MILES, BONE DRY, THEY SAID MY WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED. INTERNET SHOWS THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH MY MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR CAR, THEY KNOW IT, BUT REFUSE TO RECALL DUE TO COST. THEY REFUSE TO FIX THE ENGINE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER IN ATLANTA (LOCATED AT 2345 PLEASANT HILL RD IN DULUTH, GA 30096) PREVIOUSLY PLACED A SAFETY NOTICE STICKER ON THE REAR SUSPENSION ARM WITHOUT NOTIFYING THE CONTACT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR A RECALL. THE TECHNICIAN FOUND IT WAS LOW ON OIL AND FILLED IT. TWO WEEKS LATER I HAD MY MECHANIC CHECK AND IT WAS LOW 2 QUARTS OF OIL. I SET MY TRIP ODOMETER. IT HAS BEEN 2000 MILES AND I HAVE HAD TO ADD 4 QUARTS OF OIL TO MY ENGINE. I AM TOLD THIS EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION IS DUE TO BAD PISTONS THAT WILL NEED TO BE CHANGED. I UNDERSTAND THIS TO BE A COSTLY REPAIR.
THE SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP. THIS IS A SAFTY ISSUE WHILE DRIVING.
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE USED LAST APRIL. LESS THAN 30 DAYS LATER I REALIZED IT WAS BURNING EXCESSIVE OIL. I BROUGHT IT TO THE USED CAR DEALERSHIP THAT I PURCHASED IT FROM HE SAID HE WOULD CHECK SOME SPARK PLUGS AND IT WOULD BE FINE. FEW DAYS AFTER HE "FIXED THE PROBLEM" I HAD TO ADD MORE MORE OIL. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO HIM HE SAID THAT 2006 RAV 4 TOYOTA RAV 4S ARE KNOWN TO BURN EXCESSIVE OIL. HE SAID HE WOULD PROVIDE ME WITH CAR TO TRADE AT NO COST. ALMOST ONE YEAR HAS GONE BY AND THIS HAS NOT HAPPENED. I FEEL THAT HE SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT AND GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK BUT I FEEL THAT TOYOTA SHOULD ALSO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE
MY 2006 RAV4 HAS AN OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM. THE CAR WAS BURNING 1/2 QUART OF OIL EVERY 300 MILES. I AM PAYING $3500 TO HAVE THE PISTONS AND RINGS REPLACED.

TOYOTA OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA WAS MADE AWARE OF THE RECALL AND STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
BURNING OIL. I HAVE TO PUT OIL ALL THE TIME. MECHANICS SAID CAR CAN'T FIX BECAUSE THE ENGINE IS THE PROBLEM. I CAN ONLY CHANGE THE ENGINE BECAUSE IT IS A MANUFACTURER PROBLEMS. THE CAR BURN GAS AS WELL.
REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RECALL WAS PREFORMED AND THEY STATED THAT THE REAR TOE WAS LOCKED IN PLACED AND IS NON ADJUSTABLE. NOW WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE FOR TIRES, THE REAR TOE IS OUT OF ALIGNMENT AND TOYOTA WILL NOT COREECT IT.
UPDATING THE RECENT COMPLAINT, WARNING LIGHTS:-CHECK ENGINE,VSC, TCS,BREAK,4WD LIGHTS ARE KEEP ON COMING , VEHICLE LOOSES ALL POWER ASSISTANCE. THIS IS THE 4TH TIME I AM EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS VEHICLE WAS WITH AUTO MECHANIC FEW DAYS AGO AND HE CHANGED THE BATTERY AND CHECK THE ALTERNATOR, ALL IN GOOD CONDITION. YESTERDAY MORNING I WAS ON THE WAY TO WORK,ALL WARNING LIGHTS CAME AND I HAD TO STOP THE CAR IN FREEWAY, I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND LEFT THE VEHICLE FOR FEW MINUTES,STARTED ENGINE AND ENGINE LIGHT WERE ON, BUT ALL POWER CAME BACK AND I COULD WENT BACK BACK TO MY HOME. I LEFT THE THIS CAR AT HOME AND TOOK MY 2ND CAR AND WENT FOR WORK. EVENING I CHECK THE CAR, MY CAR LOOKS NORMAL THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHTS, IT WAS RUNNING NORMAL. I BELEIVE THIS CAR HAS SOME SERIOUS ELECTRONIC PROBLEM( UNABLE TO DETECT THROUGH DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE).WHICH I CHECK WITH 3 DIFFERENT MECHANICS.
AFTER MY ENGINE OIL LIGHT FLICKERED BRIEFLY A FEW TIMES WHEN DRIVING. I HAD THE OIL CHECKED AND FOUND IT VIRTUALLY EMPTY, WE PUT A QUARTER IN AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY FILLED MY OIL AND TAPED THE OIL CAP AND HAD ME RETURN BETWEEN 1000 AND 1300 MILES. TODAY I TOOK IT IN AT 1200 MILES AND WAS 2 QUARTS LOW. HAVE HAD ALL OF MY OIL CHANGES DONE AT 3000 MILES AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP THE CAR WAS PURCHASED. THEY CLAIM A LETTER WAS SENT OFFERING A OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AND WOULD HAVE POSSIBLY COVERED REPAIRS IF I HAD AN ISSUE DURING THE 10 YEAR PERIOD THEY WERE OFFERING WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT. I NEVER SAW SUCH A LETTER. MY CAR NEVER HAD LOWE OIL RECORDED UNTIL MY ONE OIL CHANGE WHERE I WAS BASICALLY EMPTY. I HAVE FILED A CLAIM WITH TOYOTA, BUT THEY ARE SAYING THERE IS NOTHING THEY WILL DO FOR ME. THIS IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE WITH MANY LAWSUITS AND SHOULD BE A RECALL. NEVER ONCE DID THE SERVICE PEOPLE EVER MENTION THIS ISSUE OR OFFER TO DO THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WHEN MY CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THE ENGINE IS PROBABLY GOING TO REQUIRE A NEW PISTONS AND RINGS AND COST SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS TO FIX. I THINK TOYOTA NEEDS TO STEP UP AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THESE FAULTY ENGINES THEY PUT IN THEIR TOYOTAS.
IT SEEMS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE OIL CONSUMPTION IN MANY DIFFERENT TOYOTA VEHICLE MODELS INCLUDING MINE. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE ON THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM AND THEY DID AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST, WHICH WAS NOT PERFORMED AS I DROVE OVER THE REQUIRED 1200 MILES. HOWEVER, THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED TO HAVE THE BOTTOM PART OF THE ENGINE REBUILT. NOT ONCE DID THEY MENTION THE ONGOING PROBLEM. I TOLD THEM I HAD TO THINK ABOUT IT AND WAS TOLD TO CHECK THE OIL MORE OFTEN THAN NORMAL. AFTER GETTING HOME AND DOING RESEARCH ONLINE DID I FIND THAT MY ENGINE CAN SEIZE AT ANY TIME EVEN WITH OIL IN IT. ALSO, IF I PAY FOR THE REPAIRS, THIS CAN HAPPEN AGAIN. I HEAR A RIDDLING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE EACH TIME I START THE CAR. CLICK SOUND WHEN I TURN THE WHEEL.
I HAVE 2006 TOYOTA RAV4-BATTERY WARNING LIGHTS FLIPS AND GO,- WHEN I WAS DRIVING IN FREEWAY 68MPH, BATTERY WARNING SIGNALS FLIPS TWO TIMES WHILE I TRY TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE. AND ALSO ALL WARNING SIGNALS, CHECK ENGINE, TCS, VSC, 4 WD, BREAK, AND AIRBAG SIGNALS CAME AND VEHICLE LOST ALL ELECTRICAL POWER, STEERING BECOME HARD AND BREAK DIDN'T WORK, I HAD TO PULL OVER THE VEHICLE IN FREEWAY. IT HAPPED TWO TIMES, STILL THE BATTERY SIGNALS ARE FLIPS WHEN PUSH THE GAS. I HAD TO TOW THIS VEHICLE TWO TIMES. I CHECK THIS CAR WITH THREE MECHANICS AND AUTOZONE, THEY COULD NOT FIND OUT ANY PROBLEM,. THEY ALL SAID BATTERY AND ALTERNATORS ARE WORKING GOOD ( BATTERY AND ALTERNATORS ARE REPLACED TWO EARS AGO. I HAVE SEEN MANY 2006 TOYOTA RAV4 CUSTOMERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. DRIVING THIS VEHICLE IS SCARY AND LIFE THREATENING. I HOPE HIGHWAY SAFETY IS; AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND THEY WILL MAKE AN ENQUIRY/ACTION.
MANUFACTURER HAS NOT MADE PARTS AVAILABLE FOR RECALL #16V596 DATED 8-10-2016 AND THERE IS NO KNOWN DATE WHEN IT WILL BE AVAILABLE. WHEN TRYING TO BACK UP A HILL, THE TRANSMISSION POPS OUT OF GEAR AND THEN BACK INTO GEAR. WHEN IT POPS BACK INTO GEAR THE CAR LUNGES IN AN UNCONTROLLABLE MANNER. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS! I HAVE READ THAT THIS IS CAUSE BY PREMATURE WEAR-OUT OF THE REVERSE CLUTCHES AND THE FIX IS A NEW $4000 TRANSMISSION. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT TOYOTA SHOULD AT LEAST PROVIDE AN ASSISTANCE PROGRAM TO REPAIR. THE PROBLEM IS CONTINUOUS, IT WAS ALWAYS OCCUR WHEN TRYING TO BACK UP A HILL.
THIS CAR HAS THE INFAMOUS TOYOTA EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE WITH THE 2.4 L I4 ENGINE. IT BURNS A QT OF OIL IN 2000 MILES OR LESS.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM A BUSINESS TRIP ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, TRAVELLING ABOUT 70 MPH. OVER A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME THE CAR BECAME MORE DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. EVEN THE SMALLEST BUMP WOULD CAUSE THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE TO FEEL AS IF I WAS LOSING TRACTION AND "FISH-TAILING." I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME SAFETY BY REDUCING MY SPEED TO ABOUT 50 MPH. WHEN I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT I WAS TOLD THAT THE REAR RIGHT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. MY VEHICLE HAD BEEN INCLUDED IN TWO PREVIOUS RECALLS FOR THE IDENTICAL DANGEROUS CONDITION. THERE IS PRESENTLY A THIRD RECALL (SAFETY RECALL GOV) FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN AND INCLUDES SOME VEHICLES THAT HAVE BEEN PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER THE TWO EARLIER RECALLS. TOYOTA CUSTOMER CARE COULD NOT OR WOULD NOT EXPLAIN TO ME WHY MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM THE GOV SAFETY RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT HAD BEEN INCLUDED IN THE FIRST TWO RECALLS. OTHER VEHICLES OF THE SAME MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR AS MINE ARE INCLUDED IN THE GOV RECALL. IT APPEARS TO ME THAT RECALL GOV NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED. I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR OF THIS DEFECT OUT OF POCKET.

TOYOTA OIL CONSUMPTION. WHEN CHANGING THE OIL, THE OIL PAN ONLY DRAINS ROUGHLY 2 QUARTS OF OIL. I CHECKED ONLINE TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS ON OIL CONSUMPTION FOR THE MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR OF THE CAR AND THERE WAS. UNFORTUNATELY, WHEN TYPING IN THE VIN IT DID NOT HAVE A RECALL FOR THAT SPECIFIC VEHICLE. BUT IT DID MATCHED EXACTLY WHAT THE SYMPTOMS OF THAT RECALL WAS. I CALLED THE 1-800 CUSTOMER HELP LINE AND THEY WERE UNHELPFUL. I WAS TOLD THE RECALL EXPIRED AND THE PREVIOUS OWNER DID NOT TAKE ACTION WITH THE RECALL. THIS CAN BE A HUGE ROAD SAFETY HAZARD FOR BOTH THE DRIVER AND OTHER DRIVERS AROUND THE VEHICLE. THE CAR IS CONSUMING OIL DUE TO THE PISTONS RECALL. PLEASE HELP.
BAD ACCELERATION,ENGINE WILL NOT PICK UP FAST, IF I TRY TO ACCELERATE ENGINE SOUNDS HIGH, THE CAR WILL NOT PICK UP THE SPEED UP FOR FEW SECONDS AND IT JUMPS IN THE TRACK. THIS COMPLAINT IS IN REGARDS TO TOYOTA'S FAILURE TO REMEDY REAR LOWER SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLIES DEFECT WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME. TOYOTA OF ORANGE HAS MADE MULTIPLE APPOINTMENTS FOR THE REMEDY, HOWEVER WHEN VEHICLE IS BROUGHT IN FOR SERVICE, PARTS ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE. ATTEMPTED TO HAVE RECALL SERVICE DONE AT LONGO TOYOTA, HOWEVER URGENT SAFETY RECALL IS NOT A PRIORITY ON SUNDAYS AND REQUESTS FOR SERVICE ARE REJECTED.

INFORMED THE STRUTS LOCKED UP BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS ON A LIFT FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME. THE CONSUMER PAID TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED.
