PUSHED SWITCH FOR POWER REAR TAILGATE WINDOW, WINDOW ASSEMBLY BROKE AND WINDOW FELL DOWN INTO DOOR. UPON EXAMINATION, ALL COMPONENTS - REGULATOR ASSEMBLY AND ALL CONNECTING PARTS WERE SEVERELY CORRODED WHICH LED TO FAILURE. LESS THAN 12 MONTHS LATER, REAR TAILGATE OUTSIDE HANDLE BROKE; AGAIN UNDER EXAMINATION THE ENTIRE INTERIOR LATCH ASSEMBLY WAS SEVERELY CORRODED WHICH CAUSED FAILURE. THIS IN MY OPINION IS A DESIGN OR ASSEMBLY DEFECT. WATER IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE LEAKING INTO THE INTERIOR OF THE TAILGATE. FROM THE EXTENT OF CORROSION, THIS CONDITION HAD BEEN OCCURRING FOR MANY YEARS - MOST LIKELY IN MY OPINION IMMEDIATELY FROM THE TIME THAT WE ACQUIRED THE VEHICLE NEW. THE FAILURE, WHILE CAUSED FROM A DEFECT FROM THE BEGINNING OF VEHICLE LIFE, MANIFESTED ITSELF AFTER THE VEHICLE WARRANTY PERIOD AND TOYOTA IS REFUSING TO ADDRESS. FROM SOME ONLINE RESEARCH, I HAVE FOUND THIS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM. *TR
HEAVY RUST ON STRUCTURAL FRAME, FRONT AND REAR AXLE AND SUSPENSION COMPONENTS. *TT
WHILE ROTATING MY TIRES THE SERVICEMAN NOTICED A BULGE ON MY INSIDE SIDEWALL OF THE TIRE. A CHECK OF THE REST OF THE TIRES RESULTED IN THREE OF THE TIRE HAVING A BULGE ON THE INSIDE SIDEWALL, ONE ALMOST TO A POINT OF BURSTING. I GOT ON THE HANKOOK WEBSITE AND NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A TIRE RECALL TO ALMOST THE SAME TIRE. THE TIRE WAS A 70 AND MINE IS A 65. THE DESCRIPTION GIVEN FOR THE RECALL IS WHAT IS HAPPENING TO MINE. THE SIDE WALL IS DEFECTIVE. THE TIRE IN QUESTION IS THE HANKOOK 265/65R17 DYNAPRO AS. *TR
BRAKE WARNING LIGHT COMES ON PERIODICALY. VSC LIGHT SHOWS ON AND OFF. BRAKES ARE UNRESPONSIVE AT TIMES. ALL THREE LIGHTS COME ON AND OFF. TRACTION CONTROL IS ACTIVATED WITHOUT WARNING. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP TODAY AND HAD TO PAY $2,000 FOR A NEW BRAKE BOOSTER AND SKID CONTROL ECU. I HAVE SEEN THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MANY OTHER TOYOTAS. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE PART OF A RECALL CAMPAIGN. *TT
2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA BACK DOOR LOCK IS BROKEN. I KNOW OF 2 OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME DEFECT. IF I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AND NEED TO ESCAPE THROUGH TO OPEN THE BACK DOOR HATCH. I WOULD BE UNABLE TO DO SO BECAUSE OF THE DEFECT. *TR
2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. CONSUMER STATES MATS WOULD CONSTANTLY MOVE UNDER THE PEDALS INTERFERING WITH GAS AND BRAKE PEDALS, THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE WHILE DRIVING HIGH SPEEDS AND WHEN IT RAINS WATER WOULD LEAK INSIDE *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER ASSURED HER, THEY HAD RECTIFIED THE PROBLEM BY REPLACING THE MATS AND MAKING SURE THE LINING AROUND THE WINDOWS WERE TIGHT. HOWEVER, THE LEAK CONTINUED AS WELL AS THE NOISE WHILE DRIVING. ALSO, THE NAVIGATION/RADIO,CD PLAYER WASN'T WORKING PROPERLY. THE DEALER WAS FINALLY ABLE TO STOP THE WATER FROM LEAKING IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER THEN STATED THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO STALL/ HESITATE WHILE TURNING AND THEN IT WOULD JERK FAST AT TIMES. A DIAGNOSIS REVEALED THE TRANSMISSION PAN GASKET WAS LEAKING. ALSO THE POWER OUTLETS WERE NO LONGER WORKING, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO RIDE ROUGH, THE SEAT WOULD GRIND AND VIBRATE, THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING LIGHT ILLUMINATED, THE BRAKE HARDWARE KIT WAS FALLING APART, THE ENGINE WAS LEAKING OIL AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE GASKETS, THE TRUNK WOULDN'T OPEN. THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPPED. THE DEALER STATED THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE DRAIN PLUG WAS MISSING. *JB
THE TRACTION CONTROL / VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL INITIATES AT VERY LOW SPEEDS ON DRY AND VERY STABLE SURFACES NEARLY EVERY TURN I MAKE. THE LOSS OF POWER TO THE WHEELS HAVE LEFT ME STRANDED IN FRONT OF ON-COMING TRAFFIC DURING LEFT TURNS AND NEARLY REAR-ENDED ON RIGHT HAND TURNS. IT APPEARS THE 2003 TOYOTA SEQUOIA'S HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR A SIMILAR PROBLEM: OVERLY AGGRESSIVE TRACTION CONTROL WHEN THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER TO THE WHEELS IT TAKES 4-5 SECONDS FOR THE POWER TO BE RESTORED AND I HAVE HAD SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS WITH RESPECT TO BEING HIT BY OTHER VEHICLES. *LN
POWER BRAKES QUIT WORKING WHILE DRIVING. APPROX 8 TIMES, WHEN COMING TO A STOP OR BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE, THE POWER BRAKES GO OUT. SOMETIMES, CODES APPEAR ON THE DASH AND SOMETIMES THEY DON'T. I USUALLY HAVE TO RESTART THE CAR TO GET IT TO WORK AGAIN. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE AND THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. *TR
HAVE A 2006 TOYOTA SEQUIOA AND EVERYONCE AND AWHILE THE LIGHTS WILL COME ON THE DASH BOARD AND THE BRAKING SYSTEM WILL BE VERY HARD TO PRESS, ALMOST NOT STOPPING THE VEHICLE. I TURN THE VEHICLE OFF FOR LITTLE BIT AND IT RETURNS TO NORMAL (SOMETIMES). I SEE THERE ARE OTHER COMPLAINTS TO THIS MATTER BUT STILL NO RECALL??? UNDERSIDE IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE HAS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF RUST CORROSION. DEALER TO EXAMINE. *TR
I BOUGHT MY 2006 SEQUOIA USED FROM A DEALER. SHORTLY AFTER BUYING IT I NOTICED THE BRAKE LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD WOULD COME ON INTERMITTENTLY. I HAVE BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERS ATTENTION & THEY SAY THEY CAN NOT DUPLICATE IT & EVERYTHING APPEARS TO BE FINE WITH THE BRAKES. IT IS STILL HAPPENING. MY REAR WIPER, WINDOW & DEFROST SYSTEM HAVE FAILED SEVERAL TIMES. AT FIRST I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP & THEY SAID THE WINDOW MUST NOT HAVE BEEN UP THE WHOLE WAY & IT WAS NOW WORKING. IT CONTINUED TO GO IN AND OUT, BUT NOW THEY HAVE FAILED COMPLETELY. . I HAVE CHECKED THE FUSES & THEY ARE FINE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP & THEY SAID THEY DO NOT SEE ANYTHING IMMEDIATELY WRONG WITH IT AND WILL NEED TO INVESTIGATE IT FURTHER, BUT THAT WILL COST A LOT MORE. I SAW SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME OR SIMILAR PROBLEMS SO I THOUGHT I SHOULD ADD MY EXPERIENCE TO THE LIST. *TR
IN CLEAR WEATHER, ON DRY PAVEMENT, THE STABILITY/TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM WILL PERIODICALLY CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO ABRUPTLY LOOSE POWER, TYPICALLY WHEN TURNING INTO TRAFFIC AND HITTING A MANHOLE OR MAKING A TURN THROUGH A DEEPER INTERSECTION SWALE. THIS CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO BECOME UNRESPONSIVE FOR 4-5 SECONDS IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC - A BROADSIDE AUTO ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. I CONTACTED THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP WHICH OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. I WOULD LOVE TO BE ABLE TO DISCONNECT OR ELIMINATE THIS SYSTEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED AFTER TURNING LEFT AND DRIVING OVER A SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE AND DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL; HOWEVER THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP FOR INSPECTION. THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM. THE REPAIR SHOP STATED THAT THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM ACTIVATED WHEN IT WAS NOT NECESSARY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, WHILE PULLING INTO TRAFFIC FROM A STOP, AT LESS THAN 10 MPH, THE CAR LOST POWER, THE GAS PEDAL WAS NON-RESPONSIVE, AND THE CAR SEEMED TO BRAKE FOR A FEW SECONDS RESULTING IN MY TEMPORARY LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VSC LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD FLASHED SEVERAL TIMES. AFTER A FEW SECONDS, POWER TO THE VEHICLE RETURNED. *TR
VSC TRAC/VSC OFF, BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS GO ON ALL AT ONCE. I HAVE A 2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. *TR
RECURRING; POWER FAILURE AND ABRUPT DECELERATION. 2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. DEALER DIAGNOSED WITH FAILED SKID CONTROL ECM ASSEMBLY. *TR
VEHICLE PULLS FORWARD WHEN AC IS TURN ON WHILE CAR IS IDLE WITH FOOT ON BRAKE PEDAL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT, VSC TRACK, AND VSC LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER MADE EIGHT ATTEMPTS TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 89,636. CONCERNING 2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA - THE REAR TAILGATE LATCH LEVER BROKE. THERE IS NO INTERIOR TAILGATE RELEASE BUTTON. DEALERSHIP REPLACED IT AT OUR COST BECAUSE THEY SAID IT WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. ORIGINAL AND REPLACEMENT LEVER IS MADE OF PLASTIC WITH ALL THE STRESS ON A SMALL PIECE OF PLASTIC. MY OWN RESEARCH HAS SHOWN THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. IT WOULD APPEAR THAT THIS COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE IF REAR OCCUPANTS OF THE 3RD ROW SEAT HAD TO EXIT THROUGH THE TAILGATE IN AN EMERGENCY AND THE LATCH WERE TO BREAK AGAIN (OR BE BROKEN FROM AN IMPACT/ACCIDENT). *TR
OUR 2006 SEQUOIA EXPERIENCES THE SAME TURNING PROBLEM AS ANNOUNCED IN THE 2003 SEQUOIA RECALL TODAY. WHEN MAKING TURNS, THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON AND THE VEHICLE HESITATES A FEW SECONDS BEFORE ACCELERATING. IT IS ESPECIALLY CONCERNING BECAUSE ON LEFT TURNS IN FRONT OF OTHER CARS, YOU DON'T KNOW THAT YOU WILL CLEAR TRAFFIC. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS. I CALLED TOYOTA AND RECEIVED CASE #[XXX] . I WAS TOLD THAT THEY SHOW NO INFORMATION ON THIS MODEL YEAR HAVING PROBLEMS. I OWN A 2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA WITH 49,000. THIS IS MY SECOND SEQUOIA (PRIOR WAS A 2002 YEAR MODEL) SO I AM VERY FAMILIAR WITH THE CHARACTERISTICS AND NUANCES OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER PURCHASING THIS SEQUOIA, I IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THAT WHILE STOPPED IN TRAFFIC, AT TRAFFIC SIGNALS, AND BEHIND OTHER VEHICLES, THE CAR WOULD SUDDENLY ACCELERATE AND LUNGE FORWARD MOVING THE CAR SEVERAL FEET FORWARD. THE FIRST COUPLE OF TIMES THIS OCCURRED, I THOUGHT I HAD BEEN REAR-ENDED. I CAME TO REALIZE THAT IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH A MOMENTARY SURGE IN THE ACCELERATOR. EVEN WITH YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE, IT STILL CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO LUNGE FORWARD. MY WIFE AND I HAVE NEARLY STRUCK VEHICLES IN FRONT OF US. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS DURING WARRANTY AND REPORTED THE INCIDENTS. OF COURSE WE RECEIVED THEIR STANDARD REPLY "WE COULD NOT GET YOUR VEHICLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM." WHEN QUESTIONED FURTHER, WE WERE TOLD THAT IT WAS PROBABLY WHEN THE A/C PUMP WAS COMING ON, AND IT ONLY FELT LIKE WE WERE MOVING BUT ACTUALLY WEREN'T, AND THAT THIS WAS NORMAL. WOULD MAKE SENSE, BUT THE VEHICLE DOES THIS WITH BOTH THE A/C ON AND THE A/C OFF THOUGH I MUST ADMIT IT SEEMS TO DO IT MORE FREQUENTLY DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS. PLUS, THIS NEVER HAPPENED WITH MY PREVIOUS SEQUOIA. ALSO, IT IS NOT OUR IMAGINATION THAT THE VEHICLE IS MOVING FORWARD. WE HAVE NEARLY STRUCK THE REAR END OF OTHER CARS AND MUST NOW STOP 8 - 10 FEET BEHIND OTHER VEHICLES. I LOOKED ON LINE AND FOUND NUMEROUS OTHER SEQUOIA OWNERS REPORTING THE SAME PROBLEM, AND GETTING THE SAME RESPONSE FROM TOYOTA. BEING SOMEWHAT MECHANICALLY INCLINED, I TOO BELIEVE THIS IS AN ELECTRONIC/COMPUTER CONTROL PROBLEM. EVEN THOUGH I AM NOT AWARE OF THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM CAUSING DEATHS, PLEASE DON'T FORGET US AS IT IS STILL AN ACCELERATION PROBLEM, AND FOR WHAT WE PAID FOR THIS VEHICLE, WE ARE OWED BETTER THAN THEIR LAME EXCUSE. I NOTICED THERE ARE SOME RUSTY SPOT ON THE FRAME OF MY 2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE IS ANY OTHER REPORTS RELATED TO THIS ISSUE. *TR
I OWN A 2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA LIMITED. WHEN IT RAINED I NOTICED WATER WAS GETTING IN THE VEHICLE AT THE REAR HATCH AND UNDER THE RIGHT CENTER ROW SEAT. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A TOYOTA DEALER BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM. I TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE WAS A LEAK COMING FROM THE BOLTS FOR THE LEFT HATCH SHOCK; THEY REMOVED ALL REAR INTERIOR AND FOUND "MANY HARDWARE PIECES MISSING". THE DEALER STATES THE BOLTS WERE REMOVED, CLEANED, AND APPLIED SILICONE TO THEM. APPARENTLY THE LEAK IS GONE. HOWEVER, WHENEVER IT RAINS, I AM CONCERNED THE PROBLEM COULD COME BACK. *TR
WE HAVE FOUR DRIVERS IN OUR FAMILY AND HAVE DRIVEN AND OWNED 4X4 WRANGLER, EXPLORER,EXPEDITION,SUBARU OUTBACK SPORT AND 2 AWD PLYMOUTH VOYAGER. WE NOW ALSO OWN AND DRIVE A 2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. THE SEQUOIA IS A DANGER TO US AND OTHER DRIVERS WHEN THERE IS SNOW OR ICE ON THE GROUND. WE LIVE IN MICHIGAN. WITH THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE ON AND WITH STABILITY CONTROL, THE BACK END STILL SLIDES OUT EASILY WITHOUT PROVOCATION. WHEN IT DOES THE VSC TAKES OVER AND LEAVES YOU OUT IN TRAFFIC WITH NO POWER. IF YOU ARE GOING OVER 60MPH YOU CANNOT TURN ON 4WD FROM 2WD. THIS REQUIRES SLOWING DOWN IN FREEWAY TRAFFIC TO ACTIVATE 4WD. ABS DOES NOT COME ON IF YOU ARE TRAVELING AT A SLOW SPEED LIKE DOWN A NARROW ICY DRIVEWAY LIKE WE HAVE. THE SEQUOIA IS A DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN. IT OBVIOUSLY WAS NOT TESTED IN REAL LIFE WINTER CONDITIONS AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED. PLEASE HELP US. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. WHILE STOPPED AT THE LIGHT OR INTERSECTION AND SHE ATTEMPTS TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE INSTEAD IT LOST POWER AND IT WOULD ONLY DRIFT. THE VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT ILLUMINATES AND WITHIN A FEW SECONDS THE VEHICLE WOULD ACCELERATE. SHE NOTICED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURS NINETY FIVE PERCENT OF THE TIME WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE COULD AN ANTILOCK BREAK MALFUNCTION, BUT THEY ARE NOT SURE IF THAT IS THE PART THAT IS CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE ESTIMATED COST FOR REPAIR WAS $2, 500. THE MANUFACTURER TOOK A REPORT, CASE 1002137212. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THEY WOULD CONTACT THE DEALER AND SHE WOULD RECEIVE A CALL BACK. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 89,000. UPDATED 5/17/2010 * CN UPDATED 06/24/10 *JB
SINCE AT LEAST SEPTEMBER OF 2009 MY 2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA RANDOMLY ACTIVATES THE VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SUDDENLY BRAKE. TOTAL CONTROL, INCLUDING ACCELERATION AND STEERING, IS LOST FOR A FEW SECONDS. THIS IS OCCURRING EACH TIME IN NON SLIP DRIVING CONDITIONS. THE SLIP INDICATOR LIGHT BEGINS TO BLINK, BEEP, AND THE VEHICLE JUST LOSES TOTAL CONTROL. USUALLY OCCURS UPON DRIVING FROM A STOP. I HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO TOYOTA ON AT LEAST 4 TO 5 OCCASIONS AND HAVE BEEN TOLD EACH TIME THAT THEY HAD NO CODES AND COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THIS SEEMS TO OCCUR ATLEAST ONCE EVERY THREE WEEKS TO A MONTH. THERE IS NO WAY THEY CAN REPLICATE THE PROBLEM UNLESS THEY DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR A MONTH. I HAVE BEEN TOLD ON AT LEAST THREE OCCASIONS DATING BACK TO OCTOBER OF 2009 THAT A REPRESENTATIVE FROM TOYOTA WOULD CONTACT ME, SET UP AN APPOINTMENT TO LOOK AT MY VEHICLE, AND GIVE ME AN IDEA OF WHAT MAY ME GOING ON WITH IT. TO DATE I HAVE STILL NOT RECEIVED EVEN A PHONE CALL FROM TOYOTA. WHEN I LAST BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO TOYOTA FOR THIS ISSUE (APRIL 24, 2010), I HAD RECENTLY BEEN ENTERING A BUSY ROAD FROM A PARKING LOT. THE VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL CAME ON FOR NO REASON, THE VEHICLE LOST CONTROL (ACCELERATION, AND STEERING) AND I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY TRAFFIC LANE WITH VEHICLES COMING AT ME. A VEHICLE NEEDED TO SKID AND STEER OUT OF MY LANE TO AVOID STRIKING MY DRIVERS SIDE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN BROUGHT IN TO TOYOTA WITH THE SAME RESULTS (2) TIMES IN OCTOBER 2009, (1) TIME FEBRUARY 2010, (1) TIME APRIL 2010. THE PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED ALMOST ONCE EVERY THREE WEEKS. MOST RECENTLY IT HAS OCCURRED 3 TIMES OVER A TWO DAY SPAN. I HAVE STOPPED BRINGING IT TO TOYOTA AS THEY HAVE INFORMED ME EACH TIME THAT THEY CAN NOT FIND A CODE OR REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. AT TIMES THEY HAVE KEPT MY VEHICLE OVER NIGHT, AND DRIVEN IT FOR 50 PLUS MILES. I JUST CAN NOT CONTINUE TO BRING IT IN AND HAVE NOTHING DONE. *TR
VEHICLE BATTERY DIES IF THE IGNITION IS IN THE ACCESORY POSITION FOR 20 TO 30 MINUTES, WITH JUST THE RADIO ON. I HAVE BROUGHT TO TOYOTA SEVERAL TIMES SINCE OCTOBER 2009. BATTERY WAS REPLACED ONE TIME. I HAVE SINCE BEEN TOLD THAT THERE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE A PROBLEM. I WAS EVEN TOLD ONE TIME THAT I WOULD NEED A SEPERATE MARINE BATTERY HOOKED UP IN ORDER TO LISTEN TO THE VEHICLE RADIO. 2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA HAS EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS SINCE PURCHASE. ON 30 JULY 09 VEHICLE EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE COMPUTER FAILURE OF ECU, VSC, AND OTHER COMPUTERS. TOYOTA TECH REPS SAY VEHICLE COULD NOT HAVE CAUSED PROBLEM, THEREFORE IT MUST BE AN "EXTERNAL' FAULT. HOWEVER, THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE OF ANY EXTERNAL ARCING OR OTHER POWER SURGE INDICATIVE OF AN "EXTERNAL" EVENT. TOYOTA REFUSES TO ADMIT POTENTIAL OF A LATENT DEFECT AND SAYS INCIDENT MUST BE REFERRED FOR INSURANCE. TOYOTA WILL NOT ADDRESS LOGICAL QUESTIONS AS TO WHY OTHER (NON-PROTECTED SYSTEMS SUCH AS THE RADIO) IN THE VEHICLE STILL FUNCTION IN LIGHT OF THE ALLEGED "EXTERNAL EVENT." ADDITIONALLY, THERE WERE NO CIRCUIT BREAKER OR FUSES BLOWN, SO AGAIN HOW IS IT POSSIBLE FOR THE "EXTERNAL EVENT" THEORY TO BE VALID? 2006 SEQUOIA AT 42K STARTED EXPERIENCING A PROBLEM RELATED TO REAR WINDOW, REAR DEFROST, AND REAR WIPER FAILURE. CHECKED FUSES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS ISSUE AND THEY ARE FINE. WHEN THE CAR INITIALLY STARTS THEY APPEAR TO WORK AND THEN FAIL A FEW SECONDS AFTER IT STARTS. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY OUT OF WARRANTY SO DEALER WOULD NOT BE INTERESTED IN HELPING RESOLVE THIS. *TR
VEHICLE REAR WINDOW AND REAR WIPER FAILURE. BEGAN THIS ACTIVITY AT 10,000 MILES, ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS AND EACH TIME IN DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT., THEY COULD NOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM WHILE STILL IN THE SIGN IN AREA, SO NO RECORD OF COMPLAINT WAS ENTERED ON VEHICLE INFORMATION. WINDOW AND WIPER LAST OPERATED JULY 2008, AT APPROXIMATELY 35000 MILES; HOWEVER, AS THIS HAS BEEN A VERY DRY SUMMER AND FALL, USE OF THE EQUIPMENT HAS NOT BEEN REQUIRED THEREFORE THE FAILURE WENT UNDISCOVERED UNTIL APPROXIMATELY NOVEMBER 2008. AT DEALERSHIP, DURING OIL CHANGE 12/13/08, ATTEMPTS TO ADDRESS CONCERN WERE MEAGER AT BEST. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THIS SERVICE DEPARTMENT, AND LACK OF DOCUMENTATION IS TOYOTA'S ONLY DEFENSE IN REFUSING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. THEY HAVE DETERMINED THAT THEY HAVE SPENT MORE THAN ENOUGH TIME ON IT "FOR FREE" AND WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ELSE UNTIL I PAY FOR IT. IT HAS BEEN IN FOR REPAIRS SIX TIMES, AND MANY REMEDIES HAVE BEEN ATTEMPTED, TO NO AVAIL. THE THREE LIGHTS CONTINUE TO LIGHT AT RANDOM TIMES IN THE PAST WEEK, THE MASTER CYLINDER HAS BEEN REPLACED, THEY HAVE REPLACED AND RETORQUES SENSORS TO SPEC, AND REPLACED THE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY. THE LIGHTS REMAIN ON. OFTEN THE TECH CLAIMS THAT THERE ARE NO CODES IN THE SYSTEM AND THAT THEY CAN'T FIX WHAT THEY CAN'T SEE IS BROKEN. THEY TELL ME IT ISN'T A SAFETY ISSUE. I AM HAVING UNUSUAL TIRE WEAR ON THE OUTSIDE EDGE OF ALL 4 TIRES ON MY VEHICLE (2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA), TO THE POINT OF BECOMING BALD.
