THE STEERING IN IGNITION ARE DAMAGED, MAKES THE VEHICLE INOPERATIVE. *TR
THE REAR PORTION OF THE VEHICLE FRAME THAT HOLDS UP THE SPARE TIRE AND HAS THE BRAKE PROPORTIONING VALVE ATTACHED TO IT IS SEVERELY CORRODED AND THE SPARE TIRE IS IN DANGER OF FALLING OFF THE VEHICLE WHILE IT IS IN MOTION. ALSO THE BRAKE LINES CAN BE BROKEN CAUSING A LOSS OF BAKING ABILITY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH. *TR
I OWN A 2007 SEQUOIA AND A FEW MONTHS AGO ON RANDOM OCCASIONS WHILE TAKING A RIGHT TURN MY VSC (VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL) LIGHT WOULD TURN ON AND THE GAS PEDAL WOULD NO LONGER SUPPLY GAS TO THE ENGINE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY IF I AM TURNING IN TO ON-COMING TRAFFIC WITH MY ENTIRE FAMILY IN THE CAR. THE CARS COMING UP BEHIND ME OFTEN MUST SLOW DOWN QUICKLY TO AVOID REAR ENDING ME. MY MECHANIC (NOT FROM A TOYOTA DEALER) INFORMED ME THAT HE HAD SEVERAL CUSTOMERS WHO HAD COME IN WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT. I CONTACTED TOYOTA ONLY FOR THEM TO TELL ME THAT SINCE IT WASN'T A RECALL THERE WAS NOTHING THEY WOULD DO. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND HAVE FOUND A LARGE NUMBER OF FOLKS WITH THE SAME SITUATION. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS BEFORE SOMETHING VERY BAD HAPPENS. THANK YOU. *TR
ON 2/14/11 I BEGAN TO SMELL A MOLDY, MILDEW SMELL IN MY VEHICLE. AFTER SEARCHING MY CAR, I FOUND THE PADDING UNDERNEATH THE CARPET IN THE CARGO AREA BEHIND THE THIRD ROW SEATS WAS WET. THE TOP OF THE CARPET WAS NOT WET AND DID NOT SHOW SIGNS OF EVER BEING WET. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE TOYOTA DEALER ON 2/15/11. THE DEALER REMOVED BOTH THE SECOND AND THIRD ROW SEATS AND ROLLED THE CARPET AND PADDING BACK. THE CAR HAD STANDING WATER UNDER THE CARPET AND PADDING. THE DEALER TOOK APART ALL OF THE MOLDINGS AND PANELS IN THE CAR AND RAN VARIOUS WATER TESTS. THEY FINALLY DISCOVERED THE WATER WAS ENTERING MY CAR THROUGH THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT ASSEMBLY ON THE REAR HATCH DOOR. THE WATER TRAIL RAN BETWEEN THE MOLDING/PANELS AND THE FRAME OF THE CAR UNDER THE CARPET TO THE BARE METAL FLOOR. THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NO WAY OF ME KNOWING WATER WAS ENTERING MY CAR BECAUSE IT WAS HIDDEN BEHIND THE PANELS. THE DEALER EXPLAINED TO ME THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT AND THE RUBBER SEAL BEHIND THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS IN TACT WITH NO CUTS, TEARS OR DRY-ROTTING. THEY SAID THE WATER CAME THROUGH THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT ASSEMBLY DUE TO A PART FAILURE. THIS IS NOW A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE OF THE MOLD AND MILDEW IN THE CARPET THAT MY FAMILY AND I HAVE BREATHED IN ON A DAILY BASIS WITHOUT OUR KNOWLEDGE OF WATER DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A MORE COMMON OCCURRENCE THAN NOT WITH TOYOTA VEHICLES BUILT BETWEEN 2005 - 2008. A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM, SIMILAR TO THE RECALL THAT WAS ISSUED ON TOYOTA VEHICLES FOR THE 'COWL PANEL WATER LEAK' AND 'ACCESS DOOR WATER LEAK'. *LN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS WASHING THE VEHICLE, RUST FLAKES WERE OBSERVED ON THE SUBFRAME. UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE ENTIRE SUBFRAME EXPERIENCED EXCESSIVE RUSTING. IN 2011, AN UNDERCOATING MATERIAL WAS APPLIED TO PREVENT THE RUSTING, BUT THE VEHICLE STILL EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
I HAVE EXCESSIVE RUSTING ON OUR SEQUOIA AND AM CONCERNED ABOUT PREMATURE FAILURE OF THE FRAME AND/OR STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. *TT
WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA WITH MY FOOT ON THE GAS, ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE ENGINE REVVED UP FROM UNDER 2 RPM TO ALMOST 5 RPM. I PRESSED THE GAS TO SEE IF I COULD FREE UP THE PEDAL AND THE BRAKE. NOTHING WORKED, FINALLY AFTER A COUPLE OF SECONDS THE CAR BEGAN LOOSING ACCELERATION AND I PULLED OVER. FLOOR MAT WAS NOT UNDER THE ACCELERATOR, SOMETHING ELSE MADE IT REV UP. WE ARE BRINGING IN THE CAR MONDAY FOR INSPECTION. I COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM SINCE. *LN
BEGAN ACCELERATION FROM 35 MPH PROGRESSING TO 55 MPH, ACCELERATOR LEFT MY FOOT, ENGINE SPED UP TO OVER 5,000 RPM, APPLIED BOTH FEET TO BRAKE PEDAL WITH ALL MY WEIGHT, ENGINE CONTINUED TO RACE ABOVE 5,000 RPM, PUT CAR INTO DRIVE 1 WITH NO CHANGE, ENGINE RACED, PUT CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND ENGINE CONTINUED RACING OVER 5,000 RPM, WAS ABLE TO STEER CAR INTO A DITCH, TURNED OFF IGNITION. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS BLINKING DURING THIS EVENT. I WAS NEVER ABLE TO STOP WITH MY BRAKES. I MAINTAINED BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE PEDAL DURING THE EVENT WITH MY ENTIRE BODY WEIGHT ON THE PEDAL AND THE CAR NEVER, EVER STOPPED RACING.
REAR DOOR HANDLE LATCH BROKEN, TRYING TO OPEN THE REAR DOOR WHEN LATCH JUST BROKE AND WAS UNABLE TO OPEN THE REAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED NUMEROUS TIMES WHILE STEERING TO THE RIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC THAT WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE A FAILURE CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TEST DRIVEN, BUT THE FAILURE DID NOT DUPLICATE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
I HAD JUST STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT WHEN MY SUV SHUDDERED AND THEN STALLED OUT. IT RESTARTED BUT THE A/C LIGHT BLINKED. THE DEALER SAID THE A/C FROZE UP (AT 42000 MILES) AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED FOR OVER $1700.00- NOT UNDER WARRANTY. IT WILL BE FIXED IN THE NEXT MONTH OR SO. IF THE LIGHT HAD NOT CHANGED WHEN IT DID I MAY HAVE STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF ONE OF THE BUSIEST INTERSECTIONS IN VIRGINIA BEACH ( SO UNSAFE THERE ARE RED LIGHT CAMERAS AT THAT INTERSECTION). PRIOR TO THIS THE A/C HAD WORKED PERFECTLY, SO THERE WAS NO WARNING THAT THIS WOULD HAPPEN. *TR
REAR WINDOW- THE BRACKET THAT HOLDS WINDOW UP IS BROKEN AND PART COST APPR. $400.00 TO REPAIR IT. *TR
1. 2007 TOYOTA SEQUOIA REAR DOOR LATCH BROKEN. THE EVENT OCCURS BY ATTEMPTING TO OPEN THE REAR LATCH. 2. THE FAILURE OCCURS BECAUSE THE REAR LATCH WOULD JAM, AND THE OWNER WAS JUST TRYING TO OPEN THE DOOR THE NORMAL WAY. THIS ALSO OCCURS ON THE REGULAR DOORS AS WELL. 3. EXTENSIVE RUSTING OF FRAME/CHASSIE OF TOYOTA SEQUOIA - RUST EVERY WHERE UNDER TRUCK. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS APPROACHING A COMPLETE STOP WITH HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIOLENTLY JERK. THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER OVER TEN TIMES FOR FAILURE. THE ENGINE REAR MOUNT AND CROSS MEMBER WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED CONTINUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,625. UPDATED 03/16/11 *BF UPDATED 11/21/11 *CN
VEHICLE "LUNGES" FORWARD AFTER BEING STOPPED (AT A RED LIGHT MOSTLY). FOOT IS COMPLETELY OFF THE GAS PEDAL AND ON THE BRAKE WHEN THIS OCCURS. SOMETIMES HAPPENS IMMEDIATELY, SOMETIMES AFTER A MINUTE OF BEING STOPPED. THIS OCCURS REGULARLY WHEN DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. *TR
IN JANUARY 2010, AS I WAS DOING AN OIL CHANGE ON MY 2007 SEQUOIA, I NOTICED SOME CORROSION ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE HOOD AND ALSO THROUGH THE ENGINE BAY. I TOOK IT IN TO MID CITY TOYOTA FOR AN WARRANTY CLAIM INSPECTION ON THE ISSUE, MARCH 2010. IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT IT WAS A DEFECT OF SOMETHING, I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT IT WAS. THE DEALERSHIP CAME BACK AND SAID I MUST HAVE FILLED THE WATER IN THE BATTERY, BECAUSE IT IS NOW LEAKING AND BECAUSE OF THAT, IT HAS VOIDED THE WARRANTY AND THEY WILL NOT FIX IT. I DISAGREED WITH THEIR STATEMENT AND INDICATED THAT WE DID NOT FILL THE BATTERY WITH WATER. MY PARENTS ARE THE ONLY ONES DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THEY WOULDN'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO DO THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE. THE DEALERSHIP WANTED TO KNOW WHAT TYPE OF RESOLUTION WE WANTED OUT OF THIS, I STATED TO JUST REPAINT THE UNDERSIDE OF THE HOOD, NEW BATTERY, AND OTHER DAMAGES ASSOCIATED TO THE BATTERY LEAK. THEY WANTED ME TO GET AN ESTIMATE FROM A LOCAL BODY SHOP. AFTER SUBMITTING THE ESTIMATE, THEY REVIEWED IT AGAIN AND DENIED THE CLAIM. I DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP IN, ELK GROVE TOYOTA, IN ELK GROVE CA, JULY 12 2010. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOUND THE BATTERY TO HAVE BEEN FAULTY AND WAS LEAKING, WHICH THE FAN BLEW THE ACID THROUGHOUT THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT CAUSING THE PATTERN OF CORROSION AS REPORTED. THEY AGREED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. A FEW DAYS AFTER THE CAR WAS AT THE SHOP, THEY CALLED AND SAID THEY FOUND THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY AS OF 6/24/2010 AND WILL NOT FIX THE VEHICLE. I EXPLAINED THAT I HAD REPORTED THE ISSUE TO MID-CITY TOYOTA IN MARCH 2010 DURING THE WARRANTY PERIOD. THEY WANTED ME TO OPEN A CASE WITH TOYOTA, AND THEY'LL REVIEW IT AFTER. I OPENED UP CASE # 1007162060 WITH TOYOTA. ELK GROVE TOYOTA CAME BACK AFTER A COUPLE OF WEEKS AND DENIED FIXING THE CAR OUT OF GOOD WILL STATING THAT THERE WAS LACK OF MAINTENANCE RECORDS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH AND RELEASING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL THE PEDAL NEVER RELEASED. THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE INREASED TO 90 MPH. THE CONTACT PUT THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD AND CHECK TO SEE IF THE FLOOR MAT CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE, BUT FOUND THAT IT WASN'T THE FLOOR MAT. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER. THE DEALER PREFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT FEELS THIS YEAR SHOULD BE ADDED TO RECALL NUMBER 10V17000 REGARDING THE STICKY PEDAL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
WHEN DRIVING CONDITIONS ARE DRY, WARM WEATHER, I MAKE A TURN FROM A COMPLETE STOP AND THE VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL (SKID CONTROL) LIGHT STARTS BLINKING AND ACCELERATION IS DIMINISHED SIGNIFICANTLY. THE VEHICLE BOGS DOWN AND I CAN NOT ACCELERATE AND ALMOST GET HIT FROM THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I HAVE TAKING IT TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND FOR SOME REASON, THEY CANNOT REPLICATE IT. MY VEHICLE HAS 65000 MILES ON IT NOW AND IT IS HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY. UNFORTUNATELY, THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. BUT, THIS IS A SERIOUS FLAW IN THE DESIGN OF THE STABILITY SYSTEM. IT HAPPENS ON A DAILY BASIS. PLEASE HELP IN FORCING A RECALL. *TR
CANNOT FUEL MY 2007 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. GAS STATION PUMP KEEPS SHUTTING OFF NO MATTER WHERE I GO TO PURCHASE GAS. HAVE TO HOLD HOSE ABOVE MY HEAD, AND BREATH IN THE GAS FUMES. MY WIFE CANNOT FUEL CAR AT ALL. TOYOTA HAS WASHED THEIR HANDS OF THIS MATTER. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT OTHERS WITH THIS VEHICLE AND THE TUNDRA PICKUP ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP WHILE IN DRIVE (SUCH AS WHEN AT A STOPLIGHT), THE VEHICLE WILL OCCASIONALLY LUNGE OR CONTINUE TO ROLL FORWARD WHEN BRAKE IS FULLY DEPRESSED. THIS IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE ALTHOUGH YOU MAY BE COMPLETELY STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT FOR OVER A MINUTE, THE CAR MAY STOP MOVING WITHOUT YOUR BEING AWARE. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED ALL OVER MESSAGE BOARDS FOR SEQUOIA OWNERS AND ALSO REPORTED TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP. *TR
TO WHOM IT MAY BE OF SOME INTEREST, JUNE 19, 2008 I HAD A HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE WITH MY SEQUOIA. I OWN A 2007 SEQUOIA AND IT ONLY HAS 4200 MILES ON IT. THIS PAST SUNDAY I WAS STARTING FROM TRAFFIC WHEN I GENTLY STEPPED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW DOWN IN TRAFFIC WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE SEQ. JUMPED FROM 0 TO 60 OR 70 MPH. IT TOOK ME OFF GUARD, I THEN PRESSED ON THE BRAKE AGAIN TRYING TO STOP THE VEHICLE OR AT LEAST SLOW IT DOWN A BIT BUT EVERY TIME I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE THE TRUCK JUST WANTED TO TAKE OFF TOTALLY OUT OF CONTROL. IT KEPT DOING THIS FOR ABOUT A GOOD MINUTE. I THOUGHT FOR SURE I WAS GOING TO HIT SOMEONE OR SOMETHING AND INJURE MY KIDS WHO WERE WITH ME AT THE TIME. IT WAS A FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE. I CALLED FOR A SERVICE APPT. AT TOYOTA OF MANHATTAN WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE WHICH WAS ON SAID DATE AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN ON THE WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS 5MINS FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD SMELL THE BRAKES. I EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM AND THEY MECHANICS INSISTED IT WAS THE RUGS OF COURSE I DISPUTE IT THEY SAID THE RUG PROBABLY GOT CAUGHT ON THE PEDAL. WHEN I SHOWED THEM HOW FAR THE TWO WERE FROM EACHOTHER THEY THEN SAID IT WOULD GET A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK. 4 HOURS LATER I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE "BRAKE BOOSTER". MY PROBLEM WAS NOT THE ACCELERATOR, BUT THE BRAKE ITSELF. HERE I THOUGHT EVERY TIME I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE I THOUGHT THE ANTI-LOCKS WERE KICKING IN WHEN IN FACT THE BRAKES WAS TREMBLING, A TOTAL MALFUNCTION...I WAITED SEVERAL DAYS FOR THE PART TO SHIP FROM JAPAN.. I WOULD LIKE WARN OTHER SEQUOIA OWNERS OF THE POSSIBILITIES OF THIS HAPPENING TO THEM. THANK YOU, ABOVE IS THE SAME LETTER I SENT TO TOYOTA USA ON JUNE 2008. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING OVER A BUMP, THE VEHICLE WOULD MAKE AN UNUSUAL CLUNKING NOISE FROM FRONT DRIVERS SIDE, NEAR THE FUEL LINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR FACILITY WHERE THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THE U JOINTS WERE DEFECTIVE. THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 15,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS APPROXIMATELY 85,000.
EXHAUST FUMES IN INTERIOR WHEN ACCELERATING. *TR
THE VEHICLE "LUNGES" OR "ROLLS" FORWARD AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP WITH BRAKES FULLY DEPRESSED. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED ON NUMEROUS TOYOTA MESSAGE BOARDS FOR SEVERAL TOYOTA MODELS OF VARYING YEARS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS THE DRIVER COMES TO A FULL STOP AND THEN THE VEHICLE STARTS MOVING (WITH THE BRAKE FULLY DEPRESSED). *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD SIT IDLE IN THE DRIVE POSITION, IT WOULD SUDDENLY ACCELERATE WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WOULD APPLY EXTREME BRAKING PRESSURE IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE DRIVE SHAFT WAS SERVICED; HOWEVER THE FAILURE WOULD STILL OCCUR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD EXHIBIT INSTANCES OF UNINTENDED ACCELERATION SINCE THE DAY OF PURCHASE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE UNDER 54,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. WHILE APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD. ALSO WHILE IDLING THE VEHICLE WOULD ROLL FORWARD. A MASTER TECHNICIAN WAS THEN SENT BY TOYOTA , BUT HE COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE UNDER 24,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I HAVE 2007 TOYOTA SEGUOIA, IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS I, AS WELL AS MY FRIENDS, HAVE NOTICED A VERY STRONG ODOR OF EXAUST FUMES ACCUMULATING IN THE CABIN OF MY SUV WHEN: -ACCELERATING TO PASS -DECELERATING FROM PASSING -STRONGER WHEN A/C ON AND IN "RECIRCULATE MODE" -ALSO WHEN JUST REGULAR A/C ON THE FUMES HAVE CAUSED MY FRIENDS TO BECOME ILL WITH NAUSEA, HEADACHES, AND SLEEPINESS. THE FUMES HAVE CAUSED ME TO BECOME VERY SLEEPY WHEN TRAVELILNG, AND MY FRIENDS SAY MY THINKING IS OFF IN LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS. I TOOK TO LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY DID NOT NOTICE IT? THEN TOLD ME THEY WOULD NOT INVESTIGATE IT FURTHER BECAUSE NO NOTICE WAS OUT? MY SUV HAS 24K MILES ON IT, I HAVE OWNED IT FOR ONE YEAR. THIS IS A SEVERE PASSENGER SAFETY ISSUE, IT IS GOING TO CAUSE SOMEONE TO FALL ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL, AND KILL SOMEONE ELSE OR SELF. IT IS ALSO DANGER TO PASSENGERS IN CAR IN MULTIPLE AVENUES. I THINK THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED ASAP! THANKS! *TR
I HAVE A 2006 TOYOTA SEQUOIA SUV AND THE REAR DOORS DO NOT STAY OPEN UNLESS THEY ARE OPENED VERY WIDE (FULLY). THIS HAS CAUSED THE DOOR TO CLOSE ON ME NUMEROUS TIMES WHEN CLIMBING INTO THE BACK OF THE TRUCK TO SECURE MY CHILDREN IN THEIR SEATS. ALSO, IT IS A DANGER FOR THEM AS YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT WILL CAUSE IT TO CLOSE. THE DOOR WILL STAY OPEN IF FULLY OPENED, BUT THE SPACE REQUIRED TO DO SO IS NOT AVAILABLE IN MOST CONSUMER'S GARAGES. THE MIDDLE DOOR CHECK WAS ORIGINALLY FOUND TO BE DEFECTIVE BY THE TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY WERE REPLACED ON BOTH REAR DOORS. NOW THE PROBLEM APPEARS WORSE. THE DOOR USED TO STAY OPEN IN THE MIDDLE DOOR-CHECK POSITION *MOST* OF THE TIME, BUT NOW MOST OF THE TIME IT CLOSES WHILE SECURING THE CHILDREN. THE TOYOTA DEALER CONTACTED TOYOTA, BUT THEY SAID IT IS WORKING AS DESIGNED, THOUGH THEY HAVE HAD MANY CALLS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I DON'T REALLY EXPECT ANYTHING TO BE DONE, I JUST WANTED TO RAISE IT AS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE LOOKED-AT FOR FUTURE MODELS. *TR
SEEMS THERE IS A COMMON PROBLEM WHEN SEARCHED ON TOYOTA SEQUOIAS AND TUNDRAS FROM 02 TO 07 VSC TRAC OFF AND ECU REPLACEMENT WHICH IS TO DO WITH SKID CONTROL AND CAN CAUSE DEATH AND INJURY IF IT FAILS. APPARENTLY I AM FINDING OUT THAT THOUSANDS HAVE REGISTERED WITH THIS SITE AND NO TOYOTA RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED AND THE COMPANY DOESN'T WANT TO RECALL BECAUSE IT IS A 2300, REPAIR. THE COMPUTER CHIP IS THE PROBLEM AND IT GOES BAD THAT SOON? WOW TOYOTA IS JUST TURNING THE US GOVERNMENT AND PEOPLE AROUND AND SCREWING THEM SILLY AND LAUGHING ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK. AS YOU COME TO A COMPLETE STOPWITH FOOT ON BRAKE SUDDENLY IT FEELS LIKE YOU'VE BEEN REAR ENDED BY SOMEONE. *AK
I PURCHASED A 2007 TOYOTA SEQUOIA FROM THE POWER CERRITOS DEALERSHIP IN CA ON JAN. 14, 2007. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK ON SATURDAY JAN. 27, 2007 TO HAVE THE LO JACK INSTALLED. AT THIS TIME I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE FRONT BALL JOINTS ON THE 2 FRONT WHEELS. THE POWER TOYOTA SERVICE DEPARTMENT REPAIRED THE RECALL AT THIS TIME. I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE LATER THAT AFTERNOON, AT WHICH TIME I WAS TOLD EVERYTHING WAS OK. ON FRIDAY FEB. 2, 2007 I PROCEEDED TO BACK OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY OF MY HOME AND HEARD A LARGE GRINDING NOISE, SOUNDING LIKE MY CAR BOTTOMED OUT ON THE DRIVEWAY. I PROCEEDED DOWN MY STREET WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND ATTEMPTED A LEFT HAND TURN, AT WHICH TIME MY CAR RESISTED THE TURN AND MADE A VERY LOUD GRINDING NOISE AGAIN AND THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO SHAKE AND THE CAR BECAME UNCONTROLLABLE. I ACTUALLY DROVE MY CAR BACKWARDS IN A STRAIGHT LINE, ONCE I SLOWED TO A STOP AND REALIZED I COULD DRIVE THE CAR AS LONG AS I DIDN'T TURN THE WHEEL. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED POWER TOYOTA CERRITOS AND SPOKE WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT MANAGER AND TOLD HIM THE PROBLEM AND THAT I THOUGHT IT WAS THE SAME ISSUE AS THE RECALL REPAIR, HE CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK AND SENT HIS SERVICE SPECIALIST TO MY HOME TO LOOK AT THE CAR. I EXPRESSED TO HIM MY EXTREME CONCERN, BECAUSE HAD I BEEN ON THE FREEWAY, MY CAR WOULD HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY OUT OF CONTROL AT HIGH SPEEDS , WHICH COULD HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED INJURY, IF NOT DEATH TO MY CHILDREN AND MYSELF. I WAS APPALLED THAT THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM THE FIRST TIME AND SENT ME HOME TO DRIVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE. VEHICLE IS STILL AT THE POWER TOYOTA CERRITOS AND I HAVE YET TO HEAR FORM THE GENERAL MANAGER, EVEN AFTER LEAVING MULTIPLE MESSAGES. THE SERVICE MANAGER HAS BEEN TRYING TO TAKE CARE OF MY CAR, BUT HOW AM I TO FEEL SAFE AFTER 500,000 HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS PROBLEM? *JB
EXHAUST FUMES ENTER INTO THE INTERIOR OF VEHICLE WHEN ACCELERATING FOR PASSING, MERGING, ETC. *TR
2007 TOYOTA SEQUOIA WOULD NOT RESTART, KEY WOULD NOT TURN. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE MECHANIC TOLD HIM IT WAS THE STEERING WHEEL LOCK. MECHANIC ALSO STATED THERE WAS NO FIX FOR THIS FAILURE. *KB THE CONSUMER HAD TO PULL REALLY HARD ON THE STEERING WHEEL IN ORDER FOR THE KEY TO RELEASE. THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WERE OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE SUCH AS FAILURE OF THE SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM, POOR CRUISE CONTROL PERFORMANCE AND FAILURE OF THE DVD PLAYER. *JB
