POWER LIFT GATE SLAM DOWN HARD TO CLOSE UPON REACHING MAX OPENING LIFT. WAS REACHING OUT TO PUT SOMETHING IN THE BACK AND LIFT GATE STARTED SHUTTING DOWN ON ME, VERY HARD. I WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY ON TIME. *TR
VEHICLE HAD GOT CRACKS SPREADING ACROSS THE DASHBOARD AND THIS COULD CAUSE THE AIR BAD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE TO INFLATE. *TR
PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR CABLE IS BROKEN. TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THE WELL KNOWN PROBLEM AND HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL. *TR
MICHELIN "HYDROEDGE" XSE TIRES. 90K MILE WARRANTY. AFTER 30K MILES THERE ARE DEEP DANGEROUS SEPERATIONS IN THE TREAD PATTERN ON THE SHOULDER AT EVERY SINGLE TREAD LOOP ON ALL 4 TIRES.. REPORTS SAY TIRES EXPLODE FORM LOSS OF INTERNAL INTEGRITY AND PEOPLE HAVE DIED IN ACCIDENTS CAUSED FROM THESE BLOWOUTS. . WEB SEARCH CONFIRMS THAT THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS AND BLOWOUTS. TIRE SHOLD BE ON A SAFETY RECALL LIST BUT THEY ARE NOT. TIRES WERE SO DEFECTIVE THAT MICHELIN HAD TO STOP PRODUCTION. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD FOR BLOWOUTS. WHEN WILL MICHELIN BE FORCED TO RECALL THESE TIRES BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE DIES FROM A BLOW OUT???? WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO FILL OUT THE REST OF THIS FORM, THE FORM WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO ENTER THE NAME FOR A TIRE LINE, "HYDROEDGE" XSE AND THE FACT THAT ALL FOUR (4) TIRES HAVE THE SAME DEFECT. ALSO TWO OF MY TIRES DO NOT HAVE ANY DATE STAMP IN THE DOT # AREA. HOW COULD THIS BE?????
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE RAPIDLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT SHIFTED INTO DRIVE AND THEN INTO NEUTRAL AND WAS ABLE TO STOP THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
THE SLIDING BACK DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. THE MOTOR IS STILL WORKING BUT THE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. IT CAN NOT BE OPENED MANUALLY EITHER. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE FOR MY CHILDREN IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT. THE IS NO WAY TO EXIT THE CAR FROM THE BACK SEATS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THERE SHOULD ALWAYS BE A WAY TO MANUALLY OPEN THE DOOR. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ON THE INTERNET AND THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS FROM MANY PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
SEAT WARMER ON DRIVERS SIDE BURNS MY LEG IF LEFT ON FOR MORE THAN 2-4 MINUTES. UNDERSTAND THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS YEAR AND MODEL BUT WAS TOLD BY TOYOTA THE RECALL DOES NOT APPLY TO FACTORY INSTALLED MODELS(XLE) , WHICH MINE IS, ONLY VEHICLES WHICH HAD SEAT WARMERS INSTALLED BY SOUTHEAST TOYOTA(SET) AS AN OPTION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE OPENING AND CLOSING THE DRIVERS DOOR IT MADE A LOUD GRINDING NOISE. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE DOOR WELDING FRACTURED DUE TO DEFECTIVE WELDING. THE DEALER RECOMMENDED THAT THE DRIVERS DOOR BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE 121,000.
2005 TOYOTA SIENNA LE IMS RAMPVAN I REPLACED ALL 4 TIRES W / PIRELLI 215 / 65R / 16 CENTURATO P5S IN MAY 2009 AT APPROX 16500 MILES, OEM DUNLOPS WERE UNSAFE ACCORDING TO A GOOGLE SEARCH, I WENT TO AMERICAS, THEY SAID THE PIRELLI IS THE BEST, IM A QUADRIPLEGIC & I NEED A RELIABLE VEHICLE WE AS WE ALL DO....I HAD A FLAT TIRE, AAA CHANGED IT THEY SAID IT HAD CRACKED SIDEWALLS & CORD WAS SHOWING BETWEEN THE TIRE TREAD & THE SIDEWALL AS IF HAD BEEN ON A LATHE, WE TOOK PICS OF THE WORST TIRE & WE HAVE 2 MORE OF THIS BRAND ON THE FRONT AXLE W / A SIMILAR WEAR PATTERNS... IM A DISABLED CERTIFIED MECHANIC & I HAVE DONE 100S OF ALIGNMENTS & I HAVE NEVER SEEN A WEAR PATTERN LIKE THIS, WE TOOK IT BACK TO WHERE WE BOUGHT THEM TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT, WE DID & THEY SAID THE TIRE HAD AN UNUSUAL WEAR ON 1 SIDE OF THE TREAD / SIDEWALL & THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE ALL 4 & THE WARRANTY DID NOT COVER IT, SO WE HAD TO BUY 2 FOR THE REAR AXLE AS THAT'S ALL I CAN AFFORD AT THIS TIME..... THEY TOLD ME IT NEEDED A 4 WHEEL ALIGNMENT & ALL 4 SHOCK ABSORBERS REPLACED TOO.... MY CROOKDAR WENT OFF & I PLAY DUMB TO SEE WHAT THEY SAY & I START DOCUMENTING EVERYTHING...I HAVE IT CHECKED OUT AT THE DEALERSHIP...TOOK MY SIENNA INTO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP FOR ITS 40K SERVICE & TOLD THEM WHAT AMERICA TIRE TOLD ME, THE DEALER CHECKED IT OUT & SAID IT DIDN'T NEED AN ALIGNMENT & THE SHOCKS SEEM FINE TO THEM BUT MIGHT NEED REPLACING ONLY BECAUSE MY VANS 9 YRS OLD & THAT THE 2 FRONT TIRES ARE WEATHER CHECKED & ARE DANGEROUS.......SO I GOOGLE PIRELLI TIRE COMPLAINTS & BAM, THEIRS 1000S OF PEOPLE W / THE SAME PROBLEMS AS MYSELF......SO NOW I GO TO WAR W / AMERICAS TIRE & PIRELLI. *TR
DURING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE, I NOTICED THE PASSENGER SIDE, POWER STEERING RACK AND PINION BOOT HAD A TEAR AND WAS LEAKING. I HAVE READ THAT THE LEAKY SEAL EATS INTO THE BOOT TO DETERIORATE OVER TIME. AS I SEARCHED THE INTERNET FOR THIS PROBLEM, I NOTICED THEIR WERE SEVERAL OTHER CAUSES OF THIS SAME ISSUE. I THINK THIS DEMANDS FOR A RECALL. *TR
I HAVE ISSUE WITH MY TOYOTA SIENNA 2005 AND I WANT TOYOTA TO TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN MARCH 23, 2007 TSB REVISION NOTICE: ?? JULY 6, 2007: THE WARRANTY INFORMATION TABLE HAS BEEN UPDATED WITH SEPARATE ?COMBO A? OP CODES. ?? MAY 29, 2007: THE WARRANTY INFORMATION HAS BEEN UPDATED. THE NOTE BEFORE STEP 1 OF THE REPAIR PROCEDURE HAS BEEN UPDATED. PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF THIS TSB SHOULD BE DISCARDED. SOME CUSTOMERS MAY EXPERIENCE A POPPING NOISE WHEN OPENING AND/OR CLOSING THE FRONT DOORS ON THEIR VEHICLE. MY 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA STARTED GIVING PROBLEMS OF RACK AND PINION LEAK FOR POWER STEERING AROUND 90,000 MILES. ASKED THE DEALER IF THIS COULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY OR POWER TRAIN BUT WAS DENIED. LOOKING AROUND VARIOUS FORUMS ONLINE, I CAME ACROSS THAT MANY OF 2005 TOYOTAS HAVE THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM. I ALSO OWN 2005 TOYOTA CAMRY AND IT ALSO HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AT ABOUT SIMILAR MILEAGE. COST TO REPAID WAS MENTIONED AS $1300. I HAVE 2 2005 TOYOTA VEHICLES AND BOTH HAVE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WANTING ME TO SPEND $2600 TOTAL TO REPAIR THE RACK AND PINION UNIT OF BOTH OF MY CARS. I UNDERSTAND A LOT OF OTHER 2005 TOYOTA OWNERS ALSO HAVE SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. IT SHOULD BE A RECALL OR IT SHOULD BE ENHANCED WARRANTY WORK AND TOYOTA SHOULD FIX THIS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AUTOMATIC REAR DOOR FAILED TO OPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THIS ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
ON HWY 1 FROM PACIFICA TO SANTA CRUZ, DRIVING APPROX, 45-50MPH AROUND THE BENDS AND CURVES, THE VAN'S VSC LIGHT WOULD COME ON ALONG WITH WARNING BEEPING AND THE CAR WOULD TRY TO "CORRECT" ITSELF BY STEERING STRAIGHT WHEN I NEEDED IT NOT TO. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN APPROX. 1-2 MONTHS LATER WHILE DRIVING ALONG HWY 50, AT APPROX. 45-50MPH UP TO SOUTH LAKE TAHOE ON THE SAME DRY, BUT WINDING/CURVY ROADS, THE CAR WOULD TRY TO "CORRECT" ITSELF BY STEERING STRAIGHT. AGAIN, ON JUNE 17TH, ALONG HWY 50 APPROX. 45-50MPH JUST TAKING THE EXIT OFF OF THE FREEWAY, STEERING INTO THE RIGHT HAND TURN LANE, THE CAR VSC LIGHT, BEEPING AND STEERING "CORRECTION". THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS!!!! I AM SURPRISED THAT IT HAS NOT CAUSED AN ACCIDENT YET!. I NEED THE CAR TO TURN FOR A REASON!! PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME FOR FURTHER INFORMATION. I TOOK IT TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT THE VAN HAD NO LOGS FROM THE SENSORS (STEERING ANGLE OR YAW). WE ASKED THEM TO RECALIBRATE IT (SET IT BACK TO ZERO), BUT THAT OBVIOUSLY HASN'T WORKED. I HAVE ORDERED A NEW STEERING ANGLE SENSOR AND I AM HAVING IT INSTALLED AND THE SYSTEM RECALIBRATED, IN HOPES THAT WILL FIX THE ISSUE. *TR
AT NEAR HIGHWAY SPEED ON CLEAR, DRY PAVEMENT WHILE TRAVELING STRAIGHT THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (AS EVIDENCED BY THE DASHBOARD LIGHT BLINKING) ACTIVATED THE BRAKES WITHOUT WARNING CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SUDDENLY LOSE SPEED. THE HIS HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY IN THE PAST. *TR
THE TRANSMISSION IN OUR 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA XLE FAILED AT ABOUT 110K MILES. *TR
THIS PAST WINTER, OUR RIGHT SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR BEGAN TO ACT UP- IT WOULD NOT OPEN OR CLOSE VIA THE KEY FOB OR BUTTON OVER THE REARVIEW MIRROR. IF YOU PULLED THE DOOR HANDLE, IT WOULD OPEN OR CLOSE. AFTER A FEW DAYS, IT BEGAN WORKING FINE AGAIN. THEN IN APRIL, IT BEGAN ACTING UP AGAIN, DOING THE SAME THINGS AS BEFORE, BUT THIS TIME, IT ALSO WOULD SOMETIMES NOT FULLY CLOSE (IT WOULD BE CLOSING ON ITS OWN, BUT BEFORE IT WAS FULLY CLOSED, IT WOULD GO BACK OPEN AGAIN). WE DIDN'T WANT TO SPEND MONEY ON IT BECAUSE WE HAD JUST BOUGHT A HOUSE FOR THE FIRST TIME AND WERE FOCUSED ON THAT. BUT THEN WHEN WE WERE OUT IN JUNE, WE HAD CLOSED THE DOOR, OR THOUGHT WE HAD, AND CAME OUT OF THE STORE WE WERE IN LATER TO FIND THE DOOR WIDE OPEN. THAT IS A PROBLEM! OUR VAN COULD HAVE BEEN STOLEN OR THINGS OUT OF IT. THANKFULLY, GOD WATCHED OVER OUR VEHICLE. SO WE FINALLY EXPLORED INTO GETTING IT FIXED AND WERE TOLD ABOUT THIS EXTENDED WARRANTY/RECALL FOR THE FIRST TIME. THE PROBLEM WAS BY THE TIME WE INQUIRED, WE WERE JUST OVER 120,000 MILES, BUT ARE STILL WITHIN THE 9 YEARS (BUT IT IS WHICHEVER OCCURS FIRST), SO NOW WE ARE BEING TOLD IT CANNOT BE FIXED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY/RECALL AND WILL COST US $1,900 TO GET IT FIXED. WE DON'T HAVE THIS KIND OF MONEY AND ARE VERY UPSET! WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED BY TOYOTA OF THIS EXTENDED RECALL, OR WE WOULD HAVE TAKEN THE VAN IN RIGHT AWAY WHEN THE DOOR BEGAN TO ACT UP. WE ALSO WERE TOLD (FALSELY) BY THE TOYOTA DEALER THAT IT IS 7 YEARS OR 120,000 MILES AND THAT EITHER WAY, WE DON'T QUALIFY. I THINK TOYOTA NEEDS TO TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE TO OUR VEHICLE AND PERSONAL SAFETY (ESPECIALLY WITH KIDS- WE COULD THINK THE DOOR IS CLOSING, BUT THEN IT DOESN'T). *TR
REAR LIFT GATE OPENED WITH REMOTE WHILE I STARTED TO PACK MY VAN LEAVING ON A TRIP, THE LIFT GATE STARTED TO CLOSE ON ME. I HAD THIS HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES IN THE COLD WEATHER. I CONTACTED TOYOTA TELLING THEM I THOUGHT IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE, ASKED IF THERE WAS A RECALL OR SOMETHING OUT THERE TO GET THIS RESOLVED WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALL. IT HAPPENED TO ME AGAIN ON NOV 14 2024. AND AGAIN TODAY NOV 16TH 2024. I THINK THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHAT IF A CHILD WAS STANDING BY THEIR PARENT AND ACCIDENTALLY GOT CLIPPED BY THIS LIFTGATE. HOPEFULLY YOU CAN PRESS TOYOTA TO FIX THIS DANGEROUS ISSUE. *TR
TRIED TO AVOID ONCOMING TRUCK OVER DOUBLE LINE BY EASING TO R SHOULDER AND CAUGHT ICE. SLIDE, DRIVER SIDE TIRES WENT UP ON GUARDRAIL, WENT AIRBORNE TAKING OUT A MAILBOX, BOUNCED IN A LOWER FRONT YARD WENT BACK IN AIR. PINGED OFF LARGE TREES X3 THEN PASSED THRU 2 FIELD GOAL AND THE TREE DEAD CENTER AND MY VAN HIT HARD! CRUMPLING MY FRONT END BUT NOT DEPLOYING ANY AIR BAGS. NICE SEATBELT BRUISE AND SHAKEN BUT NO INJURIES. *TR
THE PLATE ON THE DOOR THAT IS CONNECTED TO THE END OF THE STRUT THAT LIMITS HOW FAR THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR CAN BE OPENED IS SPOT WELDED TO THE DOOR FRAME. SEVERAL OF THOSE SPOT WELDS HAVE BROKEN AND VERY SHORTLY THE DOOR WILL BE ABLE TO SWING OPEN WITHOUT LIMIT. I AM TOLD THAT TOYOTA HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS ISSUE BY THAT IT EXPIRED IN 2012. *TR
SLIDING DOORS FREEZE SHUT WHENEVER TEMPERATURE IS BELOW FREEZING. THE TOYOTA SERVICE DEPARTMENTS SOLUTION IS TO SPRAY THE DOOR WEATHER STRIPPING WITH SILICONE SPRAY WHICH DOES SOLVE THE PROBLEM BUT ONLY FOR A SHORT DURATION OF TIME (1 MONTH MAX) AND DOES NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM AT COLDER TEMPERATURES (BELOW 20 DEGREES F) WHERE THE DOORS ALWAYS FREEZE SHUT. THIS ISSUE IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS BY TRAPPING THE PASSENGERS INSIDE WITH NO MEANS OF EGRESS, ESPECIALLY IN THE EVENT OF A FRONT END COLLISION WHERE EVEN THE FRONT DOORS ARE INOPERABLE. THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR/MODEL TOYOTA VAN, WITH MANY OTHERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM WHEN TRYING TO ATTEMPT TO ENTER THE VEHICLE AND EXITING THE VEHICLE AFTER THE TEMPERATURE HAS DROPPED WHILE DRIVING. *TR
VEHICLE'S TRACTION CONTROL ENGAGES WITHOUT CAUSE WHEN TRAVELING MORE THAN 35 MPH ON A CURVE OR BEND. ROAD SPEED LIMIT IS SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 55-60 MPH. IF VEHICLE IS TRAVELING MORE THAN 40 MPH, CAR'S TRACTION CONTROL AND BRAKES ENGAGE, SLOWING CAR DOWN TO 35 MPH. ROAD CONDITIONS ARE NORMAL. VEHICLE HAS BEEN SEEN BY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP OVER 5 TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR. THEY ARE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE ISSUE OR REPRODUCE IT. WE HAVE BEEN ALMOST BEEN REAR ENDED DUE TO THIS FAULTY ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED WITH A CHIME. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO BRAKE INDEPENDENTLY AND THEN VEERED OFF THE ROADWAY. THE FAILURE RECURRED FIVE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
THE REAR DOOR ALMOST CLOSED ON ME AS I WAS LOADING GROCERIES. I OPENED THE REAR DOOR WITH MY KEY REMOTE, STEPPED UNDERNEATH THE DOOR AS IT WAS FULLY LIFTED, AND QUICKLY STEPPED OUT OF THE WAY AS THE DOOR BEGAN AUTOMATICALLY CLOSING. TOYOTA ISSUED A RECALL IN 2008 FOR THIS ISSUE, AND I VERIFIED WITH MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP THAT THEY PERFORMED THIS RECALL. *TR
ON MY 2005 TOYOTA XLE LIMITED, THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM ENGAGED ON ITS OWN WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 50 MPH ON A FLAT ROAD IN DRY CONDITIONS, AS A RESULT THE BRAKES ENGAGED ON ITS OWN AND THE CAR SHOOK PROFUSELY FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS. I HAD TO HOLD ONTO THE STEERING WHEEL TO MAINTAIN CONTROL AND AVOID GOING INTO THE NEIGHBORING LANE. MY 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA HAS 84,000 MILES ON IT. THERE HAVE BEEN TWO OTHER INCIDENCES WHEN THE TRACTION CONTROL ENGAGED BUT THE BRAKES DID NOT. I HAVE ONLY OWNED THE CAR FOR 1 WEEK AND I AM COMMUNICATING WITH TOYOTA BUT I THEY HAVE YET TO ORGANIZE A RECALL FOR THIS VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. I PLAN TO DRIVE TO CANADA IN THIS CAR SO I HOPE WE CAN FIND A SOLUTION. *TR
STEERING PROBLEM INVOLVING A "FREEZING" OF THE WHEEL AND THEN A GRADUAL ABILITY TO RESUME STEERING. TODAY THE PROBLEM OCCURRED WHILE MAKING A TURN AND NOT JUST AT START UP. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE METAL WELDING FOR THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR BECAME FRACTURED AND CAUSED THE DOOR CHECK TO SEPARATE. ALSO, THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE VENT WAS EMITTING COLD AIR WHILE THE DRIVER'S SIDE VENT WOULD EMIT HOT AIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 114,000.
SRS LIGHT IS ON, BASED ON SERVICE BULLETIN NO.: TC-14-001 COMPONENT(S): AIR BAGS , ELECTRICAL SYSTEM TOOK VEHICLE TO TOYOTA AND THEY STATE THIS IS NOT THE ISSUE AND I HAVE TO PAY $1000 TO HAVE CONTROL BOARD REPLACED. I DO NOT TRUST THAT THE CONTROL BOARD IS THE ISSUE AND BELIEVE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IS WANTING TO HAVE ME PAY FOR HIGH COST PART AND THE ISSUE CAN BE RESOLVED THROUGH SERVICE BULLETIN. HOW CAN I TRUST TOYOTA THAT THE SERVICE BULLETIN IS NOT THE PROBLEM AND THE CONTROL BOARD IS... CAN AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP BE USED TO DETERMINE ISSUE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
DEFECTIVE DOOR, BROKEN DRIVER DOOR WELD & CHECK STRAP CAUSES DOOR TO FAIL TO OPEN WHEN THE WINDOW IS DOWN, WINDOW ONLY GOES DOWN 1/2 WAY WHILE DOOR CLOSED. DOOR FAILS TO REMAIN OPEN OR CLOSED. *TR
DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT OPEN AT ALL, MANUALLY OR AUTOMATICALLY. ORIGINALLY, WITH LESS THAN 100,000 MILES, THIS SLIDING DOOR WOULD PARTIALLY CLOSE, BUT JUST BEFORE LATCHING CLOSED, WOULD REVERSE DIRECTION AND REOPEN. TOYOTA DEALER STATED THIS WAS NOT PART OF TOYOTA'S EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT REPLACED THE HINGE FOR THE COST OF PARTS WHEN THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR ALSO BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS OPENING WITH THE INTERIOR BUTTONS AND REMOTE (AT ABOUT 110,000 MILES). EVIDENTLY, TOYOTA'S EXTENDED WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER VERY MUCH BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD ME EVERY TIME THAT IT WAS NOT A WARRANTY ITEM, AND CONTACTING THEIR CORPORATE RESULTED IN NO ACTION. AFTER HAVING ALL THE ITEMS FIXED AT THE END OF MAY, A MONTH LATER THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR ONCE AGAIN WOULD NOT OPEN WITH THE SWITCHES, AND QUITE OFTEN HANGS UP PARTIALLY OPEN OR CLOSED WHEN USING THE HANDLES. THIS CAUSES A PROBLEM/SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY WHEN THE CHILDREN ARE DROPPED OFF AND PICKED UP AT SCHOOL BECAUSE THEY (OR A TEACHER) HAVE TO RETURN TO THE VEHICLE, OR PARENT GET OUT AND GO AROUND, TO CLOSE THE DOOR. THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR NOT OPENING AT ALL NOW POSES A SERIOUS RISK SHOULD AN EMERGENCY HAPPEN AND THE DRIVER WOULD HAVE TO CLIMB OVER THE SEAT OR EXIT THE VAN TO GO TO THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR (THAT MAY HANG UP) TO REACH OUR YOUNG DAUGHTER. I BELIEVE TOYOTA SHOULD HAVE TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THEIR 2005 SIENNAS' SLIDING DOORS BECAUSE THIS RESULTS IN MANY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS AND THIS IS AN EXTENSIVE PROBLEM (I KNOW OF MULTIPLE OWNER'S WITH THESE PROBLEMS AND A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH GETS COUNTLESS HITS).
THE DRIVER REAR POWER SLIDING DOOR IS STUCK IN CLOSED POSITION AND DOES NOT OPEN EITHER IN AUTOMATIC POWER MODE OR MANUALLY. THE DOOR GOT STUCK AFTER THE POWER CABLE WAS RIPPED, DUE TO RUST, AND THE DOOR WAS MANUALLY SHUT. IT IS NOW STUCK CLOSED AND CAN'T BE OPENED USING EITHER AUTOMATIC OR MANUAL WAY. *JB

I WAS BACKING OUT OF SPACE IN PARKING LOT. WITH ENGINE STILL ON AND RUNNING, THE STEERING COLUMN LOCKED AND THE BRAKES BECAME INOPERATIVE. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO JAM DOWN ON EMERGENCY BRAKE TO KEEP FROM BACKING INTO OTHER VEHICLES ACROSS THE AISLE IN THE LOT. *TR
SEVERAL MONTHS AGO, THE PANEL SPOT WELDS ON THE FRONT DOOR (DRIVER'S SIDE) DOOR CHECK MOUNTING PANEL BECAME DETACHED CAUSING A "POPPING" NOISE WHEN OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOOR. TODAY, I HEARD A "CLUNK" NOISE WHEN I OPENED THE DOOR AND THE "POPPING" NOISE STOPPED. HOWEVER, NOW I AM NOT ABLE TO OPEN THE WINDOW MORE THAN 1/2 WAY NOR OPEN THE DOOR PROPERLY WHICH HAS ME RATHER CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY. IF THE WINDOW IS OPEN AT ALL, I CANNOT OPEN THE DOOR WIDE ENOUGH TO GET OUT EVEN THOUGH I AM NOT OVERWEIGHT NOR AM I A LARGE MAN. IF I CLOSE THE WINDOW FIRST, I CAN OPEN THE DOOR 3/4 OF THE WAY BEFORE IT STOPS. TOYOTA IS FULLY AWARE OF THIS DOOR CHECK PROBLEM. I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM THEM A NUMBER OF YEARS AGO INDICATING THAT, BECAUSE THIS PROBLEM IS QUITE COMMON, THEY ARE OFFERING AN "ENHANCED WARRANTY" FOR 5 YEARS FROM WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS FIRST PUT INTO SERVICE OR 100,000 MILES, WHICH EVER COMES FIRST, TO FIX THE DOOR. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NEW IN 2005 SO THE ENHANCED WARRANTY EXPIRED IN 2010. WHEN I FIRST HEARD THE POPPING NOISE, I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER WHO INFORMED ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR SINCE THE ENHANCED WARRANTY PERIOD HAD EXPIRED. THE COST, $2300 DOLLARS. WHEN I ASKED, "WHY SO MUCH?" THEIR BODY SHOP GAVE ME A LONG LIST OF PARTS AND WORK THAT NEEDED TO BE DONE TO "REPAIR" THE PROBLEM IT INCLUDED REMOVING THE HEADLIGHTS, BUMPER, QUARTER PANEL AND REAR DOOR AMONG OTHER THINGS. THE REASON THEY COULD NOT JUST REPLACE THE DOOR WAS THAT TOYOTA REDESIGNED THE ENTIRE DOOR AND HAD TO RETROFIT THE NEWLY ENGINEERED DOOR TO MY VEHICLE. SO UNLESS I PAY $2300 TO REPAIR WHAT IS, ESSENTIALLY, AN ENGINEERING DESIGN FLAW ON TOYOTA'S PART, I AM LEFT WITH AN UNSAFE SITUATION IF I NEED TO QUICKLY GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND CANNOT CLOSE THE WINDOW FIRST AS WOULD HAPPEN IN CASE OF AN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURE FOR EXAMPLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE AT A STOP SIGN ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED TO APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP ALTHOUGH THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ENGAGED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER TURNING THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTING IT, THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED IN REFERENCE TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.
AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON DUE TO FAULTY WIRING HARNESS (OR LOCATION). ACCORDING TO MANUAL THIS MEANS THAT THE AIRBAG(S) TURN OFF AS THE OCCUPANCY SENSORS DO NOT WORK PROPERLY. THE WIRING HARNESS ITSELF IS LOCATED WHERE I PUT MY LEFT FOOT WHEN SITTING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WITH THE SEAT PUSHED BACK. IT IS A BAD DESIGN THAT ENDANGERS LIVES. RECOMMEND A RECALL. *TR
THE FRONT SEAT BELTS ARE JAMMING AND GETTING FOLDED, THUS CREATING A SEVERE DRIVING HAZARD. (UNABLE TO USE SEAT BELTS). *TR
I HAD PROBLEM WITH MY CAR'S SLIDING DOOR. IT GET STUCK HALF THE WAY AND THEN I WAS NOT ABLE TO CLOSE THAT. THEN I HAD TO CUT THE CABLE. I USE THIS CAR FOR MY FAMILY BUT UNFORTUNATELY I WENT TO DEALER THEY TOLD ME SOMEHOW THIS IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. I TRIED TO USE THE DOORS MANUALLY BUT STILL THEIR IS A PROBLEM WITH THE DOOR. THE POWER SLIDING DOOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WILL NO LONGER FUNCTION WHEN THE HANDLES ARE PULLED OR WHEN THE BUTTONS ARE PUSHED. IT LURCHES BUT NEVER MOVES. IT MUST BE DEACTIVATED AND USED MANUALLY. WE WERE QUOTED A PRICE OF $1000 TO REPAIR IT AND TOLD THIS WAS VERY COMMON IN THE 2004-2007 TOYOTA SIENNA MODELS. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL TO HAVE THIS SERVICE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. *TR
MY POWER SLIDING REAR DOORS MALFUNCTION. SOMETIMES THE DOOR WILL EVEN START TO CLOSE ON ITS OWN AS ME OR MY WIFE ARE PUTTING MY SMALL CHILD IN HIS SAFETY SEAT. THE MOST COMMON ISSUE IS THE DOOR NOT OPENING OR CLOSING AUTOMATICALLY. I WAS QUOTED ALMOST $3000 FOR THE REPAIR TO BOTH DOORS AS THEY ARE BOTH MALFUNCTIONING. THE DEALER REP TOLD ME THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AND THE MECHANIC EVEN SAID IT HAPPENED TO HIS VAN. THIS OBVIOUSLY IS A COMMON ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED IMMEDIATELY, I FOUND PEOPLE EVEN HERE COMPLAINING IF THE SAME/SIMILAR ISSUES. PLEASE HELP! *TR
THE DOOR CHECK ON THE DRIVER SIDE FAILED. TOYOTA (LOCAL DEALER AND HEADQUARTERS) DENIED IT WAS THE DOOR CHECK (A KNOWN MANUFACTURING DEFECT) AND GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF OVER $1500 TO REPAIR THE DEFECT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A REPUTABLE BODY SHOP TO LOOK AT THE DOOR AND THEY CONFIRMED THE DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BY A FAULTY DOOR CHECK. THE BODY SHOP DID REPAIR THE DEFECT, WHICH AS I UNDERSTAND IT, IF NOT REPAIRED CAN ALLOW THE DOOR TO SWING FREELY. TOYOTA DID NOT CORRECT OR ACKNOWLEDGE THE FAULTY DOOR CHECK ON THIS 2005 AWD SIENNA. *TR
AIR BAG LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING. DEALER SCANNED AIRBAG SYSTEM CODE AND FOUND B0111 OPEN SIDE SQUIB CIRCUIT. THERE WAS AN OPEN CONNECTOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WIRE HARNESS FOR AIR BAG. DEALER REPLACED CONNECTOR AND WIRE KIT, INSTALLED NEW CONNECTOR AND SOLDERED WIRE TO EXISTING HARNESS AND INSTALLED NEW CORRUGATED TUBING. THIS RESULTED IN A $523 CHARGE. *TR
