I PURCHASED MY VAN IN NOVEMBER OF 2012. MY HUSBAND HAS A TOYOTA TUNDRA THAT WE PURCHASED NEW IN 2004 AND IT HAS OVER 300,000 MILES ON IT. WHEN MY BUICK STOPPED RUNNING, I KNEW THAT I WANTED A TOYOTA VAN. WE HAVE A PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED DAUGHTER SO WHEN WE GO ANYWHERE WE HAVE TO TAKE THE WALKER AND HER WHEELCHAIR WITH US. APX. 3 MONTHS AGO THE SLIDING DOOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BEGAN TO NOT OPEN EVERY TIME. IT GRADUALLY GOT WORSE AND FINALLY STOPPED COMPLETELY! WE JUST USED THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND CRAWLED IN AND OUT. AFTER A WHILE THE SLIDING DOOR ON THE DRIVER SIDE DID THE SAME THING. NOW NEITHER DOOR WILL WORK!!! AFTER READING OTHER POST ON DIFFERENT SITES, I REALIZED THAT I AM NOT ALONE. COME ON TOYOTA, GET IT TOGETHER!!! I LOVE MY VAN BUT I REALLY NEED THE DOORS TO OPEN!!! *TR

I WAS DRIVING IN TRAFFIC AND BRIEFLY LOOKED TO SIDE OF ROAD. THEN LOOKED BACK AND NOTICED TRAFFIC STOPPED AHEAD OF ME. FULLY APPLIED BRAKES (HARD) BUT NO BRAKING, SQUEALING OR ABS. FULL AIRBAGS BUT FORTUNATELY NO INJURIES. LOOKING AT THE SCENE I SHOULD HAVE HAD PLENTY OF DISTANCE TO STOP. CAR TOTALED. *TR
SHIFTER OF AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY BECAME LOOSE WHILE DRIVING. IT STARTED TO WIGGLE UNPREDICTABLY LEFT AND RIGHT BETWEEN GEARS, E.G. 4 AND D. IT WOULD NOT STAY FIRMLY PUT IN P(ARK), AND WHEN IN P, REMOVAL OF THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION BECAME DIFFICULT OR IMPOSSIBLE. *TR
MY WIFE STARTED THE CAR AND CLAIMED HOW HARD IT WAS TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. WE DROVE TO A LOCATION USING THE EXPRESSWAY AND THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. IT MADE TURNING UNDER MOTION VERY DIFFICULT. I TOOK THE WHEEL ON OUR RETURN AND CONFIRMED HOW AWKWARD IT WAS. SO WE DROVE TO OUR GARAGE. THEY CALLED US LATER AND SAID THE INPUT SHAFT MALFUNCTIONED. COST OF PART FROM TOYOTA $374.19 PLUS TAX AND LABOR. ONLY ONE LEFT IN STOCK. IS IT POSSIBLE THAT TOYOTA HAS A PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE RECOGNIZED AND RECALLED BEFORE THERE ARE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS?
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, AFTER MERGE FROM RTE 20 INTO RTE 9, I DROVE UP HILL, ABOUT 50 YARDS TO MY STREET, I SAW SMOKE BEHIND MY VAN, I DID NOT SEE ANY WARNING LIGHT FROM MY DRIVING PANEL, MY VAN WAS STILL RUNNING SMOOTHLY, SO I DECIDED TO DRIVE TO MY HOUSE (ABOUT 150 YARDS) AWAY, AFTER I PARKED MY VAN, I SAW SMOKE COMING OUT FROM HOOD, AND A LONG LEAKING OIL TRACK ALONG THE STREET. I CHECKED MY ENGINE OIL, IT WAS OK. NEXT MORNING, I STARTED MY VAN, IT IS STILL NO WARNING LIGHT ON MY DRIVING PANEL, I CALLED AAA TO GET MY VAN TOWED TO TOYOTA WESTBOROUGH MA. TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THAT MY ENGINE CYLINDER HEAD GOT BLOWN A HOLE AND OIL FLYING OUT TO BE BURNED AND PRODUCED SMOKE, POTENTIALLY IT WILL CATCH FIRE IF I CONTINUE TO DRIVE. I HAD MY VAN OIL CHANGED ON 08/2012 BY SEARS SHOP, ABOUT 5,000 MILES WAS DRIVEN SINCE LAST OIL CHANGED. I BELIEVE THE ENGINE ALUMINUM HEAD WAS DEFECTIVE PRODUCT, NOT BECAUSE OF OTHER REASON. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS IT HAPPENED WHILE THE VAN WAS RUNNING AT HIGHWAY. IT COULD CATCH FIRE TOO. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHENEVER THE WEATHER WAS COLD, THE REAR SLIDING DOORS FAILED TO OPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 08V244000 (STRUCTURE LIFT GATE) WAS PERFORMED BUT THE REPAIR DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE LIFT GATE DID NOT HAVE A RESISTOR AND CAUSED THE GATE TO SWING OPEN AND WAS DIFFICULT TO CLOSE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT HER TOYOTA SIENNA WAS A HANDICAP VEHICLE. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THEY DID NOT KNOW HOW TO CORRECT THE LIFT GATE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 54,189.
IN NOV 2013 MY 2005 SIENNA DRIVER DOOR STARTED POPPING, AND IN RESEARCHING THE ISSUE, I FOUND THOUSANDS OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET WHICH HAS TO DO WITH A BAD SPOT WELD; THE DOOR NOW HAS NO "STOP", AND SWINGS FREELY. LAST APRIL 2013, AND MORE RECENTLY, THE DOOR HAS CLOSED ON MY HAND BECAUSE IT WON'T STAY OPEN BY ITSELF. UNFORTUNATELY, I AM ALLEGEDLY OUT OF THE "EXTENDED 5 YEAR WARRANTY--SHOULD BE A RECALL" WINDOW. WHAT IS TOYOTA DOING TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE FOR THEIR LOYAL CUSTOMERS? CATALYST SYSTEM FAILED/ NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THE LEFT REAR DOOR HAS FAILED, THE CABLE NOT WORKING AT ALL. THE DOOR DOES NOT SLIDE, GETS STUCK WHEN YOUR TRYING TO OPEN IT. *TR
WHILE PUTTING ON THE SEAT BELT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE, THE SEAT BELT WOUND NOT EXTEND OUT OF ITS HOLDER TO ALLOW THE BELT TO CLICK INTO ITS HOLSTER. I WOULD HAVE TO PULL IT MULTIPLE TIMES OR JIGGLE THE HOLDER ON THE SIDE WALL OF THE VAN TO GET IT TO WORK. IT DOES NOT ALLOW THE DRIVER TO BE BELTED. IT HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE THE START DATE. *TR
DRIVERS DOOR STARTED TO CREAK AS IF THE HINGES WERE DRY. TRIED TO LUBE THE HINGE BUT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE DOOR THE STARTED TO CLICK AND HAVE A BANGING SOUND AS IF SOMETHING WAS LOOSE OR BROKEN. *TR UPON INVESTIGATION FOUND THE LOWER WELD THAT ATTACHES THE DOOR OPEN HOLDING ARM TO HAVING BEEN BROKEN.
TOYOTA HAS ISSUED A CSP TO FIX THE POWER SLIDING DOORS IN OUR MODEL. OURS BROKE OVER A YEAR AGO AND THE CABLES WERE THE ONLY PROBLEM AT THE TIME. TOYOTA TOOK ALMOST A YEAR TO GET THE PARTS TO START FIXING THE DOORS. NOW THEY ARE TELLING US THAT MANY OTHER PARTS ARE BROKEN AND NOT COVERED, THIS SEEMS LIKE A BAIT AND SWITCH TACTIC TO ME AS I HAVE READ HUNDREDS OF BLOGS AND POSTS STATING THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED TO THEM, WITH A $1500+ PRICE TAG. I FEEL THAT THE PARTS BROKE DUE TO TOYOTA TAKING SO LONG TO GET THE NOTICE OUT TO CUSTOMERS AFTER THE ISSUE WAS ALREADY HAPPENING. I THINK IT IS A SCAM AND WOULD LIKE IT TO BE INVESTIGATED, I THINK THEY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ENTIRE REPAIR COST SINCE WHEN WE WENT IN, ONLY THE CABLE WAS BROKEN. *TR
VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED. WHEN WE BACKED OUT I TURNED THE WHEEL TO THE LEFT. THERE WAS A "CLUNK" AND IT FELT LIKE I JUST WENT OVER SOME OBJECT WITH THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE. WE COULD FIND NOTHING IN THE PARKING LOT THAT WOULD CONTRIBUTE TO THIS. I DROVE THE CAR THAT DAY WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THE NEXT DAY WE WENT ON A 430 MILE TRIP. SEVERAL TIMES THAT WE PARKED WE HEARD THE SAME "CLUNK" AND FELT A SLIGHT DROP IN THE RIGHT FRONT. I WENT TO THE TOYOTA DEALER AS SOON AS I COULD GET AN APPOINTMENT ON 2/26/13. TOYOTA FOUND THAT THE INTERNAL POWER STEERING RACK WAS FAILING AND HAD TO BE REPLACED FOR SAFETY. THE PART NUMBER WAS: 0 44250-08041. I ASKED TOYOTA IF THERE WERE ANY SAFETY RECALLS. THERE WERE NONE. TOYOTA SAID THESE FAILURES DID OCCUR ON TRUCKS IN HEAVY DUTY USE BUT NOT IN SIENNA MINI-VANS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS CRACKING AND EXPOSING THE AIR BAGS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 148,099.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE GEAR SHIFT LIGHTING FAILED TO WORK AND THE BRAKE PEDAL SANK TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKES FAILED; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 169,000.
THE AUTOMATIC REAR SLIDING DOOR ON THE DRIVER SIDE BROKE. I CAN SEE THAT TOYOTA ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM AND EXTENDED A WARRANT TO 9 YEARS OR 120,000 MILES (WHICHEVER COMES FIRST). WELL, MY VEHICLE HAS OVER 120,000 MILES AND I AM NOW UNABLE TO USE THE DOOR AT ALL. AFTER DOING RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. I THINK THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL AND NOT A WARRANTY EXTENSION. I HAVE NO WAY OF CURRENTLY OPENING THE DOOR. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN CONSIDERING I HAVE THREE SMALL CHILDREN. IF SOMETHING WERE TO HAPPEN, AN ACCIDENT OR ANY OTHER CIRCUMSTANCE TO GET TO MY CHILDREN QUICKLY, I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO. THE AUTOMATIC DOORS WAS THE SELLING POINT FOR OUR PURCHASE OF THIS VAN. TOYOTA SAYS TO COME IN AND HAVE THE AUTOMATIC DOOR DEACTIVATED SO THAT WE CAN USE IT MANUALLY. TO HAVE IT FIXED COSTS BETWEEN $1,000 AND $3,000. *TR
FRONT SEAT BELTS ARE JAMMING AND GETTING FOLDED AND THUS CREATING A DRIVING HAZARD. THIS IS HAPPENING ALMOST EVERY OTHER WEEK. WE HAVE TO UNTANGLE AND AGAIN THIS HAPPEN. SOMETIME WE WILL BE DRIVING WITHOUT SEAT BELT PROPERLY FASTEN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT DURING COLD TEMPERATURES, THE REAR LIFTGATE FAILED TO REMAIN OPEN WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR STRUTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
I WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND NOTICED IT WAS A BIT SLUGGISH. THE NEXT THING I KNOW, THE BRAKE PEDAL IS ON THE FLOOR EVEN THOUGH I AM NOT PRESSING IT, AND THE CAR IS STILL MOVING. I HAD MY THREE CHILDREN IN THE CAR, SO I DROVE CAREFULLY TO A SAFE STOPPING PLACE, USED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, AND EXITED THE CAR. I THEN NOTICED THAT ALL FOUR BRAKES OR TIRES WERE SMOKING AND THERE WAS A VERY STRONG BURNING SMELL. IF THERE HAD BEEN A NEED FOR ME TO STOP SUDDENLY WHILE I WAS STILL MOVING, MY BRAKES WOULD NOT HAVE WORKED! AFTER GETTING THE CAR TOWED AND REPLACING BOTH THE ABS ACTUATOR AND THE MASTER CYLINDER, MY MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM: THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH AND BRACKET HAD BEEN KNOCKED OUT OF ALIGNMENT AND WERE CAUSING BRAKE APPLICATION EVEN WHEN THE PEDAL WAS NOT DEPRESSED BY THE DRIVER. THIS CAUSED ABS AND VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL FAILURES WHEN THE BRAKES OVERHEATED. I SEARCHED TOYOTA'S RECALLS AND FOUND A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM WAS ISSUED FOR 2011 SIENNAS ONLY, BUT I HAD EXPERIENCED PRECISELY THE SAME PROBLEM IN A 2005 SIENNA. I CALLED TOYOTA AND GOT NOWHERE; BECAUSE NO RECALL HAD BEEN ISSUED FOR MY MODEL YEAR, THEY WOULD NOT HELP ME AT ALL WITH COVERING THE TREMENDOUS COST I HAD INCURRED. *TR
THIS IS REALLY AN ONGOING ISSUE THAT STARTED IN WINTER OF 2012 AND CARRIED OVER INTO 2013. OUR SIENNA HAS/HAD ISSUES WITH THE POWER SLIDING DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOORS. WE WERE TOLD BY LITHIA TOYOTA IN GRAND FORKS, ND THAT IT WOULD COST $1700 TO REPLACE A LATCH AND CABLE IN ORDER FOR THE POWER SLIDING DOOR TO WORK. THERE IS NO WAY I WAS EVEN GOING TO CONSIDER PAYING THAT FOR THE DRIVER OR PASSENGER SIDE, LET ALONE BOTH. AFTER READING ABOUT ALL THE ISSUES TOYOTA SIENNA'S HAVE, MY WIFE AND I LOOKED FOR OTHER OPTIONS. WE TOOK OUR SIENNA TO CORWIN TOYOTA IN FARGO, ND WHERE THEY REMOVED THE POWER CAPABILITY SO WE COULD SIMPLY HAVE A MANUAL SLIDING DOOR ON THE DRIVER SIDE. THAT OPTION WORKED WELL FOR A WHILE, BUT EVENTUALLY IT DIDN'T WORK BETWEEN THE SNOW/ICE AND (FULL DISCLOSURE...WE LIVE ON A GRAVEL ROAD) DUST, OUR DOORS CONTINUOUSLY STICK NO MATTER WHAT TIME OF THE YEAR IT IS, REGARDLESS OF TEMPERATURE. WE OFTEN GO FOR MONTHS AT A TIME WITH ONLY ONE OPERATIONAL MANUAL SLIDING DOOR (WE DID HAVE LAKE TOYOTA IN DEVILS LAKE, ND MAKE THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR MANUAL LIKE THE DRIVERS SIDE). WHEN BOTH DOORS GET STUCK, WE HAVE ONE REPAIRED (HAVE DONE THAT A COUPLE TIMES). THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT TOYOTA IS REFUSING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT. WHY CAN'T WE HAVE A MANUAL OPERATING DOOR? WHY DO WE HAVE TO KEEP GOING TO A DEALER TO HAVE THIS SITUATION TAKEN CARE OF? I HAVE TRIED TO CONTACT TOYOTA CUSTOMER CARE AND WAS TOLD THAT THEIR WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 120K MILE POINT (WE CURRENTLY HAVE 194K MILES ON THE VAN, BOUGHT IT WITH 125K). I JUST WANT TOYOTA TO REPAIR MY SLIDING DOORS SO THEY WORK MANUALLY. I DO NOT CARE ABOUT POWER DOORS. PERHAPS YOU CAN EXPLAIN THIS TO TOYOTA IN A WAY WHICH I HAVE FAILED TO DO. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN OPENING AND CLOSING THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR, THERE WAS A LOUD POP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE MOUNTING PANEL WAS DAMAGED AND NEEDED TO BE WELDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 69,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 69,900.
WHEN PULLING THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT IN ORDER TO BUCKLE, THE BELT FOLDED SLIGHTLY AT THE POINT OF EXIT FROM THE BODY PANEL, CAUSING IT TO BECOME STUCK AND UNABLE TO RETRACT. AFTER ATTEMPTING TO FIX FOR HALF AN HOUR, WE WERE UNABLE TO RETURN BELT TO PROPER POSITION AND HAD TO DRIVE HOME WITHOUT A FUNCTIONING DRIVER SEAT BELT. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES NOW, BUT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME WE WERE UNABLE TO GET IT FIXED IN A REASONABLE TIME. SEEMS TO BE A DESIGN ISSUE. *TR
2005 SIENNA WAS DRIVEN TO A PARKING GARAGE AND PARKED FOR TWO HOURS. UPON RETURNING TO THE SIENNA AND STARTING THE ENGINE, THREE LIGHTS CAME ON; CHECK ENGINE, VSC, AND TRAC OFF. DROVE VEHICLE HOME (150 MILES), THE 3 LIGHTS REMAINED ON AS WELL AS LOSS OF CRUISE CONTROL AND AN INTERMITTENT COMPASS DISPLAY. TOOK VEHICLE IN FOR INSPECTION AT A LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE SKID CONTROL UNIT ECU NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I FOUND OUT THERE ARE OTHER COMPLAINTS AND A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ON THE 2005 SIENNA VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL (ALSO CALLED ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL) SYSTEM THAT HAS CAUSED INJURIES. EVEN MORE REMARKABLE, MY 2005 SIENNA HAS ONLY 62K MILES AND IN THAT TIME THERE HAS BEEN 2 OTHER INCIDENCES WITH THE SAME SYMPTOMS. WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL IF THERE ARE ALREADY INJURIES IN THE DATABASE?? *TR
UNDER TOYOTA'S CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM, A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN WAS PUT OUT SAYING THAT 2005 TOYOTA SIENNAS HAD FAULTY RADIATORS THAT CRACKED IN COLD WEATHER AND COULD LEAD TO COOLANT LEAKAGE AND SUBSEQUENT ENGINE SEIZURE (SAFETY REPORT #0506). WHEN THE WEATHER STARTED GETTING COLD THIS WINTER, MY RADIATOR CRACKED AND I NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED AS THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING EXTREMELY HOT. WHEN I FOUND THIS BULLETIN AND BROUGHT IT TO TOYOTA'S ATTENTION THEY REFUSED TO HONOR IT SAYING THAT MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT IN THE RANGE. WHEN I ASKED WHY THIS WAS THE CASE, THEY CLAIMED (THEY BEING TOYOTA'S NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS) THAT THEY HAD REALIZED THE FAULT AND THEREFORE SWITCHED THE RADIATORS OUT DURING PRODUCTION. UPON CLOSER EXAMINATION, THE BULLETIN WAS ANNOUNCED BY TOYOTA ON JANUARY 30, 2006. IF WHAT THEY CLAIM IS TRUE, THEN THEY WERE KNOWINGLY SELLING CARS WITH FAULTY RADIATORS FOR ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF BEFORE THEY ISSUED THE RECALL. IF THEY WERE LYING, THEN THE RECALL NEEDS TO BE EXTENDED TO INCLUDE ALL TOYOTA SIENNAS OF THAT YEAR. *TR

HOWEVER ITS BEEN ONLY 3 YEARS AND THE GAS STRUTS ARE FAILING AGAIN. IT SEEMS TO NEED A NEW PAIR EVERY 3 YEARS. THE PASSENGER SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR HAS JAMMED AND CANNOT BE OPENED. WE HAD TO LET OUR SON OUT OF THE CAR AT SCHOOL ON THE DRIVER SIDE AND HE WAS ALMOST HIT BY ANOTHER CAR. TOYOTA HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND HAS ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT THEY SHOULD BE COVERING ALL VEHICLES WHEN IT COMES TO CHILD RELATED ISSUES. DURING THE TIMING BELT AND WATER PUMP REPLACEMENT, TOYOTA TECHNICIAN FOUND RADIATOR HAD A SMALL LEAK AND SUGGESTED TO CALL TOYOTA COMPANY . TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVE FROM COMPANY INFORMED THE RADIATORS HAD PROBLEMS FOR 2005 SIENNA BUT THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO FIX IT BECAUSE MILEAGE IS MORE THAN 75000 OR VEHICLE IS MORE THAN 7 YEARS OLD. *TR

2005 TOYOTA SIENNA'S VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL ENGAGED FOR NO REASON WHILE IN MANY DIFFERENT CONDITIONS (DRY, WET, CURVE, STRAIGHT, IT DIDN'T MATTER) MAKING ME LOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR. THE VSC, TRAC OFF AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON AND A BEEPING SOUND ENGAGED WHILE THE CARE TOOK OVER NOT ALLOWING DRIVER INPUT. I HAD TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL UNTIL IT TURNED OFF. I HAVE READ MANY ACCOUNTS ONLINE OF OTHER TOYOTA SIENNA DRIVERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME DANGEROUS PROBLEM. THANK GOODNESS WHEN IT HAS HAPPENED, I HAVEN'T HAD A TRUCK OR SEMI NEXT TO ME. THE VEHICLE HINGE OF THE DRIVER'S DOOR BECOMES UNWELDED FROM THE DOOR CAUSING A CLICKING NOISE. AFTER SEVERAL OPENINGS AND CLOSINGS OF THE DOOR THE HINGE LOOSENS EVEN MORE CAUSING A INTERFERENCE WITH THE WINDOW. THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW IS ONLY ALLOWED TO FALL 2/3RD OF THE WAY DOWN BEFORE THE HINGE STOPS IT CAUSING POTENTIAL BREAKAGE OF THE GLASS WHILE THE MOTOR VEHICLE IS IN OPERATION. *TR
I TRIED TO CLOSE THE REAR DOOR AFTER PUTTING MY GROCERIES IN THE REAR WELL. THE DOOR CLOSED PART-WAY THEN WENT BACK UP. I DID IT AGAIN MANUALLY AND USING MY REMOTE 'CLICKER'. SAME THING HAPPENED. IN ORDER TO CLOSE THE DOOR I HAD TO PUSH IT MANUALLY TO CLOSE THE DOOR. WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER WHO SAID THE STRUTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED (APPROXIMATELY $500). LATER I REALIZED THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL ON FAULTY STRUTS. THESE ARE THE REPLACEMENTS. I NOTICE ON THE INTERNET WHERE ARE OTHERS ARE NOW HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE REPLACEMENTS THAT WERE INSTALLED. *TR
WHILE I WAS DRIVING, MY STEERING STARTED LOCKING ON ME. I WAS GOING THRU MOUNTAIN DRIVING AND AS I TRY TO GET CONTROL ON SITUATION IT STARTED TO BECOME MUCH HARDER TO CONTROL. TO AVOID ANY UNPLEASANT INCIDENT I DECIDED TO MOVE OVER IN RIGHT LANE AND SLOW DOWN SIGNIFICANTLY TO KEEP CONTROL ON THE CAR. ONCE THE MOUNTAIN DRIVING WAS OVER I TRIED TO FIND RELIABLE SHOP TO GET THIS ISSUE FIXED AS THIS WAS GETTING WORST. WE WERE FORTUNATE TO COME OUT WITHOUT INJURY BUT NEXT FAMILY FACING THIS ISSUE MIGHT NOT BE. I DID RESEARCH REGARDING THIS ISSUE ON INTERNET AND IT APPEARS THAT MANY MORE CONSUMER HAS EXPERIENCE SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH SAME MODEL. AFTER THE REAR HATCH STRUTS WERE REPLACED FOR THE RECALL, THE REAR HATCH WHEN OPENED MANUALLY FLIES OPEN SO FAST IT HAS HIT ME THE HEAD. TOYOTA SAID THE NEW STRUTS HAVE MORE PRESSURE TO HOLD THE DOOR UP SO IT WILL OPEN FASTER, BUT THIS IS DANGEROUS. THE DOOR NEVER OPENED THIS FAST WITH THE OLD STRUTS.
