DRIVER SEATBELT ON 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA MINIVAN DOES NOT RETRACT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO TOYOTA'S DESIGN DEFECT. THE SAME ISSUE IS FACED BY NUMEROUS OTHERS AS EVIDENCED BY THE FACT THAT TOYOTA HAS ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM IN OTHER TYPES OF VEHICLES THAT USE THE SAME PARTS - E.G. SUVS, CARS ETC THE CURRENT RECALL SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO TOYOTA SIENNA MINIVANS TOO GIVEN THE SAFETY IMPLICATIONS. *TR
THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT STARTED FLASHING. *TR
THE AIRBAG LIGHT BEGAN BLINKING. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A DIAGNOSIS AND WAS TOLD THAT BOTH AIR BAGS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF NEARLY $1,500. OUR SIENNA ONLY HAS 86K MILES ON IT AND HAS NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. FROM MY RESEARCH, THIS AIR BAG PROBLEM WITH THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE HAS GARNERED SEVERAL COMPLAINTS. IT IS MY OPIONION THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AT TOYOTA AND SHOULD BE SUBJECT TO A RECALL. *JS
WAS INVOLVED IN A MVC WHERE THE VEHICLE WENT OFF THE ROAD, THE FRONT END HIT FIRST OVER AN EMBANKMENT, AND THEN THE VEHICLE PROCEEDED TO ROLL MULTIPLE TIMES. THERE WERE NO AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY, YET THE AIRBAG SENSORS ON THE FRONT OF VEHICLE WERE SMASHED FLAT? THERE WASH TOTAL LOSS OF THE VEHICLE. REQUESTING AN INVESTIGATION OF THE VEHICLE AIRBAGS AS TO WHY THEY DID NOT DEPLOY. VEHICLE HAS ALREADY BEEN RELEASED TO SALVAGE YARD BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY BUT A "HOLD" HAS BEEN PLACED ON THE VEHICLE PENDING AN INVESTIGATION. *TR
MY TOYOTA SIENNA DASHBOARD HAS BEEN MELTING. IT STARTED WITH SMALL DOTS AND NOW ITS PEELING OFF. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S REAR DOOR WAS NOT LOCKING AND THE DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. ONCE THE DOOR WAS AJAR, IT DID NOT LOCK AND TOOK SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE DOORS WOULD OPEN WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE VEHICLE TWICE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000. UPDATED 01/26/2017*CT CONSUMER STATED BOTH DOORS HAD THE ISSUE OF NOT LOCKING MULTIPLE TIMES. ALL AUTOMATIC DOOR FEATURES HAVE HAD TO BE DISENGAGED AND THE RIGHT REAR (PASSENGER) DOOR WILL NOT ENGAGE THE LOCK. UPDATED 7/10/18*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V273000 (TIRES); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
THE PLASTIC ON THE DASHBOARD IS CRACKING AS IF IT WAS SLASHED WITH A RAZOR KNIFE. I LOOKED UP THE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET AND NUMEROUS SITES HAVE PEOPLE REPORTING THE PROBLEM GOING BACK TO 2004 MODELS. THE TOYOTA DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT JUST SAYS THE VAN IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE CRACKS ARE DUE TO AGE (WHICH THEY PROBABLY ARE TO SOME DEGREE) BUT PRESENT NO SAFETY ISSUES. I REFUTE THAT CLAIM. IF THE DASH IS CRACKING THEN I ASSUME THE INTEGRITY OF THE AIRBAG SYSTEM IS COMPROMISED. HAVE OLDER SIENNAS BEEN TESTED THAT HAVE A CRACKING DASHBOARD? MY WIFE'S 2000 AVALON ALSO HAS A PLASTIC DASH AND IT IS NOT CRACKING AT ALL. NEITHER ARE MY TWO SONS OLD 4RUNNERS OR MY DAUGHTERS 2005 SIENNA. I'M VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE FRONT AIRBAGS AND THEIR PROPER DEPLOYMENT IN AN ACCIDENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT WITH THE BRAKES ENGAGED, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. TAKATA RECALL I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE I HAVE CONTACTED TOYOTA MANY TIMES REGARDING THE SAFETY OF THE AIRBAGS IN MY VAN. THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY IS IN QUESTION. EVEN THOUGH A RECALL DOES NOT COME UP WHEN I ENTER THE VIN IN SAFERCAR.GOV, I AM TOLD BY TOYOTA THAT DOESN'T MEAN MY VAN WON'T BE SUBJECT TO A RECALL IN THE FUTURE. I NEED TO KNOW! MY FAMILY AND I ARE EXPECTED TO PLAY RUSSIAN ROULETTE EVERY TIME WE GET IN THE VAN.TOYOTA REPS ARE PLAYING A GUESSING GAME WHEN THEY GIVE ME INFORMATION ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY VAN. THEY CANNOT TELL ME WHY MY VAN IS NOT BEING RECALLED. I NEED SPECIFICS SUCH AS WHO MADE THE AIRBAG IN MY VAN, TOYOTA SAYS THEY CANNOT TELL ME THIS BECAUSE THEIR LAWYERS HAVE TOLD THEM NOT TO GIVE OUT THAT INFO. THE PERSON WHO GAVE ME THIS INFO TOLD ME THEY SPOKE TO THE EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT WHERE THEY WORK AND THAT IS ALL THEY CAN TELL ME. NOT GOOD ENOUGH! I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY NOBODY WILL GIVE ME A DEFINITIVE ANSWER THAT WOULD PUT MY MIND AT EASE. TOYOTA REPS TELL ME THEY ARE GOING FORWARD WITH RECALLS AS THEY RECEIVE INFO FROM TAKATA AND THE NHTSA. I CANNOT TRUST TAKATA WITH THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY AND FOR THIS REASON I AM APPEALING TO THE NHTSA TO PLEASE GIVE ME PERMISSION TO TAKE MY VAN TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC TO HAVE THE AIRBAGS REMOVED. YOU WILL PROBABLY QUOTE THE SAFETY STATISTIC THAT MY CHANCES OF BEING KILLED IN AN AUTO ACCIDENT ARE GREATER WITHOUT AIRBAGS THAN HAVING AN AIRBAG SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODE IN MY FACE. BEFORE THE RECALL I WAS NEVER FIXATED ON GETTING IN AN ACCIDENT, NOW I AM A DISTRACTED DRIVER WORRYING IF MY AIRBAGS ARE GOING TO EXPLODE IN SOMEONE'S FACE. MY 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA HAS ONLY 66,500 MILES ON IT AND WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTIONS, I WAS TOLD THAT IT NEEDED A NEW POWER STEERING RACK AND A WHEEL ALIGNMENT TO GO WITH IT. THE CHARGE FOR THE SAME IS $1300 PLUS. I AM SEEING SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. WHEN I CALLED TOYOTA ABOUT IT, THEY MENTIONED THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT UNDER RECALL FOR THIS PURPOSE. IT DOES SEEM TO BE A DESIGN ISSUE AND I BELIEVE TOYOTA SHOULD TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THIS ISSUE. *TR
SOMETIMES WHEN STARTING FOR THE FIRST TIME, I TRY TO TURN THE WHEEL BUT IT IS LOCKED (AS IF IT IS ALL THE WAY TO ONE SIDE BUT IT IS NOT) - THE WHEELS ARE TURNED THE OPPOSITE SIDE. THE TIMES I HAVE NOTICED THIS BEHAVIOR MY WHEELS HAVE BEEN TURNED TO THE RIGHT, AND WHEN I TRY TO BACK OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY I AM TRYING TO TURN THE WHEEL TO THE LEFT BUT THE STEERING WHEEL IS LOCKED UP AS IF IT IS ALL THE WAY LEFT AND CANT GO ANY MORE. TO FREE IT UP I NEED TO TURN THE WHEEL SLIGHTLY TO THE RIGHT (MAYBE A QUARTER TURN) THEN I CAN TURN THE STEERING WHEEL BACK TO THE LEFT A COUPLE TURNS IF I LIKE AND EVERYTHING IS NORMAL. I USUALLY NOTICE THIS ON SUNDAY MORNINGS - THE CAR MAY HAVE BEEN SITTING ALL DAY SATURDAY .. I AM TRYING TO PUT MY FINGER ON IT BUT CAN'T SEEM TO. I HAVE NOT NOTICED ANY ISSUES WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD .. BUT IT IS A LITTLE CONCERNING. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR QUITE SOME TIME NOW AND I THOUGHT MAYBE I SHOULD REPORT THIS .
THERE IS A STRUCTURAL PROBLEM WITH 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA MINIVAN. THE REAR LIFTGATE STRUT STOPPED WORKING. THE TRUNK DOOR IS JUST HEAVY DEAD WEIGHT. ONE ADULT MUST LIFT AND HOLD THE TRUNK DOOR (WHICH IS QUITE HEAVY) SO THAT THE OTHER ADULT CAN ACCESS THE TRUNK -- OR AT LEAST ACCESSING THE TRUNK WITHOUT SMASHING THEIR SKULL AND/OR ARMS/HANDS/BACK. TOYOTA SAID THAT THEY HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT COVERED THIS PART THAT EXPIRED IN 2012. IT LOOKS LIKE THERE WAS A RECALL OF THIS PART FOR 2006 TOYOTAS. HOWEVER, TOYOTA IS TELLING ME THAT MINE WAS NOT COVERED BY THE 2006 RECALL BECAUSE MINE WAS PRODUCED LATER IN 2006. SO, APPARENTLY, TOYOTA IS IN THE BUSINESS OF BUILDING VEHICLES THAT ALLOW YOU TO ACCESS YOUR TRUNK FOR ONLY 6 YEARS -- AFTER THAT, IT IS A TWO PERSON JOB TO GET IN AND OUT OF THE TRUNK. THAT TELLS ME THAT IN SEPTEMBER 2006, I BOUGHT MY LAST TOYOTA.
AIR BAG INDICATOR IS BLINKING IN DASHBOARD. THIS IS A CONTINUOUS ISSUE. NOT SURE IF I SHOULD CONTINUE TO DRIVE WITH THE SAFETY ISSUE.
MY 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA HAS A DOOR WELD FAILURE WHERE THE DOOR CHECK MOUNT CONNECTS TO THE DRIVE DOOR.
STEERING RACK BOOT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE HAS A LEAK. I WAS TOLD THAT I NEED TO REPLACE THE WHOLE STEERING RACK AND PINION COSTING ALMOST $1400. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM IN TOYOTA SIENNA 2006 AND TOYOTA ISSUED PSB 0097-12 FOR THIS BUT NOT A RECALL. TOYOTA EVEN CHANGED THE DESIGN IN THE NEWER MODELS AFTER 2006. EVEN THOUGH IT IS A DEFECTIVE DESIGN BUT TOYOTA DOES NOT SEEM TO CARE AND OWN RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS. CUSTOMERS ARE PAYING FOR THIS. *TR

LAST NIGHT AS I WAS DRIVING HOME ON THE FREEWAY, MY CARS NAVIGATION SYSTEM, IN ADDITION TO THE RADIO/DVD/CD SYSTEM, SHUT DOWN SHOWING A BLACK SCREEN. AS I KEPT DRIVING, THE SIDE LIGHTS (BUT NOT THE SCREEN) WOULD BRIEFLY COME ON AND THEN TURN OFF AGAIN. IT DID THAT AT LEAST 6 TIMES. EVERYTHING ELSE WORKS FINE, (E.G., LIGHTS, AIR CONDITIONING, SIGNALS, ETC.), BUT I HAVE NO MUSIC AND NO DVD PLAYER. MY CAR IS NOT THAT OLD AND I KEEP IT IN MINT CONDITION! FOR IT TO HAVE TURNED OFF LIKE THAT IS BAFFLING, ESPECIALLY SINCE I JUST HAD IT TOTALLY SERVICED LAST MONTH, AS I DO EVERY YEAR. THE DEALER, WITHOUT HAVING SEEN IT, QUOTED AN ASTRONOMICAL AMOUNT FOR SOMETHING THAT COULD QUITE POSSIBLY BE A FUSE PROBLEM OR A LOOSE CONNECTION SOMEWHERE WITHIN THE SYSTEM. ON MONDAY AUGUST 4TH, 2014 AFTER A FUNERAL, I DROVE INTO THE PARKING LOT OF THE CHURCH WHERE I WAS GOING TO GATHER WITH MY FELLOW FRIENDS AND FAMILY THAT LOST THEIR FAMILY MEMBER THAT DAY.. I DROVE INTO THE DRIVEWAY AND ATTEMPTED TO REVERSE MY MINIVAN, I HAD MY HAND ON THE SHIFT CHANGE TO SHIFT MY CAR, UPON ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE SHIFTS MY CAR ACCELERATED AND I LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, CAUSING MY CAR TO GO HIT THE SIDE OF THE BUILDING OF THE CHURCH DAMAGING THE GAS TANK, AND CAUSING THE GAS TO LEAK. AT THE TIME OF THE SCENE AND ACCIDENT MY 6 YEAR OLD WAS IN HIS CARSEAT BEHIND ME AND WAS SCARED AT WHAT HAD JUST HAPPENED, HE PANICKED AND TOOK OFF HIS SEAT BELT, OPENED THE DOOR, AND WENT RUNNING OUT OF THE VEHICLE.. AT THAT MOMENT TRYING TO REGROUP MYSELF TO SEE WHY MY CAR HAD ACCELERATED WITH FORCE FORWARD, I PARKED MY VEHICLE AND WENT LOOKING FOR HELP.. I CANNOT EXPLAIN HOW MY CAR GAINED SO MUCH FORCE TO END UP OVER 2 FEET IN THE AIR OVER A SMALL WALL... I DID NOTICE MY CAR HIT THE GAS TANK AND HEARD GAS LEAKING AND WENT TO CRY FOR HELP.. I AM NOT AWARE OF ANY RECALLS ON MY VAN EXCEPT FOR THE UNDERCARRIAGE TIRE, WHICH AT THIS TIME THE RECALL IS NOT COMPLETE BECAUSE THEY HAVE NOT FINALIZED A SCHEDULE FOR ME TO HAVE IT CHECKED... ALSO I AM UPSET THAT THE MINIVAN UPON THE IMPACT OF HITTING THE WALL DID NOT DIPLOIT THE AIRBAG... I GOOGLED SAFETY RECALL ON TOYOTA SIENNA AND CAME UPON A RECALL ON MORE THAN 615K SIENNA MODELS OVER A ROLLAWAY RISK.. THE YEARS LISTED WERE 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009 TOYOTA SIENNA,AND A RECALL AFFECTING A POSSIBLE ROLLAWAY UPON SHIFT GEARS.. ACCORDING TO THE ARTICLE THE SHIFT LEVER COLD BE MOVED OUT OF POSITION DEPRESSING THE THE BRAKE PEDAL, AND BECAUSE OF THIS FAULT, THE AFFECTED SIENNAS COULD ROLL AWAY WITHOUT CAUSING WARNING, INCREASING THE RISK FOR CRASH.. WELL I WAS IN A CRASH. *TR

ON AUGUST 1ST AT APPROXIMATELY 10:11PM [144298 MILES ON THE VEHICLE] AT THE I-10EAST TO I-75SOUTH INTERCHANGE AFTER MERGING ONTO I-75 SOUTH. TRAVELING ON I-10 EAST FROM TALLAHASSEE TO ORLANDO USING THE CRUISE CONTROL WHICH WAS SET AT 75MPH ACCORDING TO THE SPEEDOMETER - IN ORDER TO TAKE THE I-75 SOUTHBOUND (TAMPA-ORLANDO) EXIT I APPLIED THE BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN AND RELEASE THE CRUISE CONTROL. UPON MERGING ONTO I-75 FROM THE RAMP I WAS TRAVELING AT ABOUT 55 TO 60 MPH AND WENT TO SELECT RESUME ON THE CRUISE CONTROL. I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR AS I ALWAYS DO AND LET THE CRUISE DO THE WORK. THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AS EXPECTED TO 75 MPH - THE SET POINT AND STAYED THERE FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS (LONG ENOUGH FOR ME TO NOTICE THE SPEEDOMETER PAUSE AT 75MPH AND THEN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED FAST AND HARD AGAIN (LIKE FULL THROTTLE) AND KEPT GOING IN ABOUT 2 SECONDS I WAS NOW AT 85 AND STILL ACCELERATING; I APPLIED MY BRAKES TO RELEASE THE CRUISE CONTROL AND SLOW THE VEHICLE - IT RELEASED THE CRUISE AND I WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN - I DID NOT USE THE CRUISE CONTROL AFTER THAT. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V160000 (STRUCTURE) FOR THE SIMILAR FAILURE IN 2011, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT THE CONTACT DECLINED THE RECALL REPAIR DUE TO THE LIMITATION OF VEHICLE SPACE USAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,600.

AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT HAS BEEN ON SINCE APPROXIMATELY MID JULY 2014. I RECEIVED A WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT NOTICE FROM TOYOTA (REGARDING A SIDE AIRBAG CONNECTOR MAY HAVE BEEN IMPROPERLY MANUFACTURED IN 2006 SIENNA) WHICH REQUESTED THAT I CONTACT A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TO DETERMINE IF THIS CONDITION IS COVERED BY THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT "AT NO CHARGE TO YOU" PARTICULARLY IF THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON. WHEN I CALLED TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS TO CHECK THE VEHICLE, BOTH DEALERSHIPS TOLD ME I HAD TO PAY OVER $100 FOR THE TESTING. THE SECOND DEALERSHIP SAID THEY WOULD COVER THE FEE FOR THE TESTING ONLY AND IF THE PROBLEM WAS THE ONE LISTED ON THE WARRANTY-BUT I WOULD NOT KNOW THAT UNTIL AFTER THE TESTING WAS DONE-SO THEY WOULD CHARGE ME FOR THE SCREENING AFTER THE TESTING RULED OUT A SIDE AIRBAG CONNECTOR ISSUE-OVER $100. I CALLED THE TOYOTA NUMBER LISTED ON THE WARRANTY SEVERAL TIMES AND SPOKE WITH TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVES BUT THEY ULTIMATELY STATED MY ISSUE WAS WITH THE DEALERSHIP-NOT TOYOTA. THEY REFUSED TO PUT ME THROUGH TO A SUPERVISOR ONLY "COLLEAGUES". I DO NOT THINK I SHOULD PAY ANYTHING TO BE SCREENED FOR THIS ISSUE AND WHEN I REREAD THE WARRANTY THAT IS WHAT IT CLEARLY INDICATES-" NO CHARGE". *TR

2006 TOYOTA SIENNA AIR BAG LIGHT IS LIT. POSSIBLE AIR BAG MALFUNCTION. RECEIVED A LETTER FROM TOYOTA TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT THEY WANT YOU TO PAY FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST IF THE PART THEY DEEMED TO BE DEFECTIVE IS OK. THIS HAS NOT YET LED TO ANY CRASH, INJURY, ETC. IF THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE AIR BAG SYSTEM, AND TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, AND THEY ARE AS EVIDENCED BY THE LETTER RECEIVED, THEN THESE CARS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND FIXED WITH OUT CHARGE TO THE CONSUMER. *TR
TOYOTA SIENNA RECALL FOR SPARE TIRE CARRIER MOVED THE SPARE TIRE TO THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT OF VEHICLE. THE TIRE WAS REMOVED FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE, PLACED IN A BAG, AND PLACED IN THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT. THE TIRE WAS NOT SECURED BY SERVICE AND IS FREE TO VIBRATE, SHAKE, AND ROLL WHEN TURNING. THIS WAS TO BE A TEMPORARY FIX, WITH THE PERMANENT SOLUTION TO BE DETERMINED BY TOYOTA. IT HAS BEEN OVER 6 MONTHS FROM THE RELEASE DATE OF THE RECALL AND THERE IS STILL NO PERMANENT SOLUTION, AND THERE IS NO ETA FOR A FIX AT THIS TIME, PER THE TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED AS IT IS LIMITING THE AVAILABLE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT SPACE, AND THE MOVEMENT OF THE UNSECURED SPARE TIRE IS DISTRACTING. WHAT REQUIREMENTS ARE THERE FOR CLOSING OUT ACTION ITEMS ON RECALLS AND FOR COMPLETING "PERMANENT" FIXES? *TR
THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG LIGHT BLINKS ON AND OFF. THE ISSUE WAS TRACED TO DRIVERS SEAT WIRING. THE SEAT WIRES ARE EASILY EXPOSED. THE WIRES GET IN CONTACT WITH THE DRIVER'S FOOT CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE WIRES. THIS LEADS TO A PROBLEM DETECTING A WIGHT ON THE SEAT THAT IN TURN ENABLES THE AIR BAGS.
AT FIRST, I HAVE THE TIRE PRESSURE INDICATOR LIGHT CONTINUING TO LIT UP. THEN ONE MORNING, THE VAN WAS SLOW TO RESPONSE TO SHIFTING GEAR AND ACCELERATION. AFTER STOPPING, IT WON'T START AND MOVE INTO GEAR AT ALL. THERE WAS NO ENGINE LIGHT BEING LIT OR WARNING SIGN. TOWED TO SHORE TOYOTA AT MAYS LANDING, NJ. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION OIL HAD ALL LEAKED OUT DUE TO THE BURST OF ABRUPT FAILURE ON THE INLET TO THE RADIATOR. THEY ASKED ME TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR AT A COST OF $1,150.26! AFTER REPAIRED, THEY THEN TOLD ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS BAD AND DIFFICULT TO MOVE INTO GEAR. THEY QUOTED ANOTHER $3,780 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. I WAS FURIOUS. SINCE THAT THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE VAN CAN BE DRIVEN. I WAS PREPARED TO TRADE IT IN AND WEIGHING MY OPTIONS. THE VAN HAS 133,279 MILES. I DROVE IT OK INITIALLY, HOWEVER, I EXPERIENCED THAT IT WAS DIFFICULT TO ACCELERATE TWICE. AFTER 15 MILES WHEN I STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE VAN JUST STUCK- IT CANNOT MOVE IN ANY OF THE GEARS AT ALL. I TOWED BACK HOME. AFTER COOLING DOWN, IT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AGAIN. THE NEW TRANSMISSION FLUID SMELLED BURNT. I AM WONDERING WHY: ?WHY THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS NOT LIT UP AT ALL WHEN THE COOLANT TEMPERATURE WAS SO HIGH BEFORE SPOILING THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION? ?WHY WAS THAT NOT EVEN ANY DTC CODES STORED ON THE OBDII SYSTEMS AT ALL AFTER ALL THESE DEFECTS? ?THIS SEEMED THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE STICKY TRANSMISSION THAT OTHER CUSTOMERS HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT, YET TOYOTA HAS NOT INFORMING THE CUSTOMER OF ANY ACTIONS NEED TO BE TAKE. I HAVE BEEN RECEIVING NOTICES ABOUT THE VARIOUS RECALLS AND THE POTENTIAL OF MONETARY COMPENSATION, HOWEVER, NOTHING HAS BEEN REALIZED YET. ?THIS SEEMED TO BE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS, IF THE VAN CAN BE SLOWED DOWN OR STOPPED SO DRASTICALLY, THE PEOPLE IN THE VEHICLE COULD BE BUMPED OVER. *TR

AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON SO I TOOK MY CAR TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. I WAS ADVISED THAT MY AIRBAG WIRING HARNESS SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE VAN HAS 79K MILES AND IT WAS ONLY COVERED FOR 3 YEARS/36K MILES. HOW IS AN UNUSED AIRBAG DEFECTIVE? WHERE IS THE CONSUMER SAFETY? TEAR ON THE BOOT OF THE POWER STEERING RACK, PASSENGER SIDE. I RESEARCHED ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THIS WAS NOT UNCOMMON FOR TOYOTA SIENNA 2006. SOME SAID TOYOTA SEEMED TO FIX IT IN THE 2007 MODEL. TOYOTA MAY KEEP QUIET ABOUT THE PROBLEM. THE BOOT IS TOO CLOSE TO ONE OF THE BELTS. ANY DEBRIS (ROCK OR ICE OR PIECE OF METAL) COULD BE SLING-SHOT BY THE BELT AND HIT THE RUBBER BOOT. THIS IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE, THE EXPOSED STEERING JOINTS COULD RUST AND BREAK IN THE HIGHWAY. THEY SHOULD PUT A PROTECTIVE PLATE BETWEEN THE BOOT AND THE BELT. *TR

INITIALLY, STEERING IS STIFF WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED AND THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED. I AM AFRAID THAT IT MIGHT HAPPENED WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING AT HIGH SPEED. THE CAR WAS SENT TO THE DEALER FOR TIMING BELT KIT REPLACEMENT, UPON INSPECTION THE TECHNICIAN FOUND THE ANTI LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM IS MALFUNCTIONING DUE TO THE FACT THE ABOVE MENTIONED PART, PART # 44050-08030, THE ANTI LOCK BRAKES HYDRAULIC UNIT, IS DAMAGE OR INOPERABLE. THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME HE HAS ENCOUNTERED THIS SITUATION IN THE SAME MODEL/YEAR OF MY CAR, BUT BECAUSE TOYOTA HAS NOT PRONOUNCE ON THIS MATTER THERE IS LITTLE HE CAN DO ABOUT IT EXCEPT FOR REPLACE THE PART WHICH COST ABOUT $1,680.00, HE ADVISE ME TO INFORM THE PROPER AUTHORITIES FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION ON WHY THE PART MALFUNCTION. *TR

THE DASHBOARD HAS MELTED AND CRACKED LEAVING EXPOSED STYROFOAM AND STICKINESS. I HAD TO BUY A DASHBOARD CARPET PROTECTOR TO KEEP IT FROM DETERIORATING FURTHER. TOYOTA SENT ME A NOTIFICATION OF AN EXTENDED WARRANTY TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE DASHBOARD, AFTER I QUALIFIED FOR A DASHBOARD VIA MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER I WAS INFORMED THAT THE DASHBOARDS WERE ON BACK ORDER AND THAT THEY HAVE BEEN WAITING ON THESE FOR OVER A YEAR. I CAN NOT SELL OR TRADE THIS VEHICLE IN ITS CURRENT CONDITION.
